2nd & Charles in other cities:
I looooove this store and the workers! Always a beautiful experience and very kind service! They will always go out there way to help you find something or at least try and order it! The one thing I like most about this store is I have a big problem with forgetting and have to explain characters out or a few things about the books and someones like yes or hold on lets search it up and see!
I called and they told me that if I had⁷ brought my records up there before 7:00 they would not process until the next day .... Mean what you say and Do. Dont tell me one thing over. The phone and then I show-up and then switch it up........Besides that customer service was polite and they even greeted me at THE DOOR.
This is an amazing store! Its clean and straight. I was surprised to see how much merchandise. Books for adults, for children 2 to teens. Music cds, Albums, and record players (thats on my list) l got rid of mine. They have movies, all kinds of games, video games, board games. 2 big tvs and benches, people were playing games on them. I thought that was really nice. It is Monday so there werent many people working, and one cashier. She was pleasant and helpful. Lots of things at the checkout to look at, I saw guitars hanging on the wall for sell. There is just too much to tell about. I encourage you to go in, you might find lots of things you like, I did.
My Husband and I LOVE this place!! We visited the store the other day looking to get 6 of our May Birthday friends gifts. We were able to find everything that we needed & for a total price of around $200. We were super happy with all of what we got!! It was a GREAT bang for our buck!!
First visit and last. After spending an hour walking around picking out our purchases, head to register and wait, wait, wait, wait. Eye contact made with couple employees who see us standing at the check out...who completely ignore us. Wait and wait and finally leave our purchase at the register and walk out. What a great way to run a business! NOT. Will never return to this store.
This is my first time here and my first stop was the sidewalk sale. I bought lots of stuff for my kids and barely paid anything for it! Love the vinyl record selection inside!! They have just about anything. This will definitely be one of my go-to places for gifts. My husband even seemed impressed!
I visited this bookstore during the summer or fall of 2020. It is very nice in there. Most of all, the staff is amazing. During my trip at the bookstore, I was having issues trying to find books titled, Finding Me, by Michelle Knight (AKA) Lily Rose Lee, and Hope, A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland written by Amanda Berry and Gina Dejesus. The 2013 Cleveland case has inspired me so much that it is still important to have hope, no matter what we face in life. That being said, that is why I enjoy reading the books. A cashier named Bella is also a tremendous staffer who will go way above and beyond to help any reader find what they want or need. Keep up the good work folks. You all are doing excellent in inspiring individuals into becoming successful readers, critical thinkers, decision makers, as well as leaders.
The store was clean and the available merchandise was satisfactory. However, when we went to check out, we stood there for a couple of minutes and then had to hunt down an associate who radioed for the person. Then, the cashier was having trouble with the transaction so she went to get help. Perfectly understandable. But then after a quick tutorial, they left her alone again and she made an uncorrectable mistake so after getting help again, they left her alone again. The cashier was polite and apologetic. My problem is with the lack of training which directly impacted my time.
Ive been to several 2&Cs in the last couple of years and Columbus is quickly becoming one of the worst.Compared to other locations, they are overpriced. Several TV series, available at Walmart for $9.96 or Amazon for less, were $16-20 with several ticking up to $30.Hardback books, used, were practically priced like new.The last couple of times that we have made the trip, we almost walked out empty-handed. After an hour+ drive, thats not what I want to happen.I refuse to take trade-in to this location as the last time, it didnt look like they went went through the box at all, just two things on top taken and given about $10 store credit. I took the same stuff to another location and they took almost everything and gave over $50 credit. They told me it would be several hours before they got to my items and I told them, Thats cool as we were going to eat and check out a few other stores. I got a text less than an hour later that my order had been processed.Employees werent very friendly that day either.Ill just drive to Dothan or Hoover from now on.
I love this place! They are of course an awesome bookstore (lots of great sales) but they also have records and CDs, guitars, video games, a large comic section and tons of awesome fandom stuff. Its hard to leave without wanting to spend a ton for money! My own negative is that they dont have a sectioned off kids area so usually my son and I will go to Barnes and Noble so that he can play with the trains. But if Im by myself, this is the first place I go!
I used to love going here but recent experiences have turned me away. I was approached by a man inside the store and asked for money. Some of their new books look very used. Dont know if books arent getting labeled correctly or what, but definitely not paying full price for a book thats ripped, creased, or stained. Ive noticed the shelving can be very disorganized.
Humongous store! T-shirts, music, video games, kids games and of course a wide selection of used and new books. Hardbacks & paperbacks. Clearance selection. Rest of books are separated by genre and then author. BUT...... short staffed, hard to find an employee, and if you could find one they didnt know answers to my questions. Such as where is the astrology section? 🤷♀️🤷♀️But prices are wonderful! New and used.. Fun nik&nacs and potential gift things like bookmarks, journals, stickers, pens, mugs and cups and pez. Would definitely go back. Might wanna give yourself time to explore. Going through the shelves are time consuming and tedious especially the collective unorganized clearance section
Ive only been here a couple of times. I really like the atmosphere. And theyre selection of various types of items is pretty awesome. We came here to find some Doctor Who stuff and when other places failed to deliver, 2nd & Charles came to the rescue. Some of the prices on used items is a little high, but they obviously need to turn a profit. Overall, this place offers some options for electronics, books, games and miscellaneous items that other retailers wouldnt have.
Unique store with wide variety of both new and gently used books, music (including vinyl), video game systems, posters, and more. Atmosphere very pleasant, with clean, well lit, well organized store with nicely presented items. They will also BUY used items in the categories of items sold in the store, but be aware that you will not likely be offered a large amount of $ (good when you need to downsize anyways). Do not bring junk for them to buy, they are only interested in high quality/in-demand things they can actually sell. This is very different from places like Good Will. Bottom line, its a unique and fun-to-browse store.
Fun place to visit!!! I stopped in because I had an hour to kill and was in the shopping area. I’m visiting from Nevada while on a cross country road trip. We don’t have this store back home (but have one like it), so I had no idea when I walked in that it would be easy to kill an hour browsing the shelves! It passed in no time. Of course I had to look for my favorite artist, Mariah Carey. They had a nice little selection and prices were a bargain, but of course I have all her CDs. What kind of fan would I be if I didn’t?!! LolI’m glad I stopped in. I love record stores like this!!
What a cool place! This is definitely a place you wanna go if you consider yourself a little nerdy! From books and vinyls to collectibles and games, I think they cover just about anything you might want. Its safe to say that it is a great place to shop, especially for gifts!
This is a really great place to grab a movie you have been looking for cheap. They also have an impressive collection of books and records and your other various nerdy things. The prices on the video games are a bit on the high end but would still recommend giving the place a once over.
I worked at the old BAM and was sad when they closed it...this is like BAM meets Hastings and the swap meet or Goodwill. Lots of great books, manga, video games, and Funko figurines. They have second hand musical instruments and a nice sized LEGO table as well. My family and I stop in here periodically for all of our nerdy needs.
Prices of used items pretty good. However if you are trying to sell its kinda slow and not worth. I read online before going in and selling, there website now does say bin limit, however nothing about how many times a day you can come in. I was told once a day.. nothing on websites or signs say that. So kinda rude that I was told to not come back.. Also super slow at taking in, had to wait for someone to come over there is almost never any one at the cash register to check out. The cash register almost always never has any one near it when you want to check out.
Really fun place. Nothing else quite like it around. A great place to get cables and accessories for old video game consoles. Prices arent super great, but the convenience of buying in person is nice. Lots and lots of books, comic books, movies and fun gifts. Will be a fairly regular family outing for us!
Cool stuff. Absolutely terrible organization. Super unfriendly and unhelpful staff. No attempt at all to alphabetize books or records.I was told there were two copies of the book I was looking for in stock. I searched for two and a half hours before asking for help. Not only did they not attempt to help me after I asked, they gave me an attitude as if I were asking them to cover my mouth for me as I sneezed. When the girl finally showed up back in the section I was digging through, (I assumed to help) it was just to tell me they were closing in five minutes and I needed to go to check out.Because Im whining on here, Im sure youre thinking Im an unpleasable person, but I assure you I was very polite and friendly when asking.Unfortunately will never return. This was in Columbus Ga by the way.P.s. Google says they close at 9 and they kicked us out at 8.
This place is awesome if youre a total nerd like I am. The staff is wonderful and seem to be passionate about what they do. Its a relaxing environment to shop in. This store is GREAT if youre going to find a gift for a friend, or if you want books and/or pop-culture merchandise.
For a mostly second hand book store, walking in feels like going into a Barnes and Noble or Books A Million. Lots of titles to choose from, as long as you are sticking to the more popular topics and genres. They lack somewhat in the more niche stuff. They also sell musical instruments, vinyl records, games, and knick knacks so the store is able to hit a lot of facets of pop culture. We have used them for building our childrens library for much cheaper than buying new. Be aware that you either need to bring a bag with you if you are buying a lot of books or buy one or more of their canvas-like bags for $1 each to take with you. Its a good gesture that they dont use plastic, but if youre not expecting it, it could be surprising.
More than a bookstore.Fantastic place to find new and used books, pop figures, CDs, LPs, DVDs, Blu-ray, comics, video games & consoles, and much more. The organization of the used books can be a little overwhelming and hard to find a specific title, but the folks that work there are always willing to help.
Wasnt a bad place to get things cheap. They have a huge variety of books, toys and other things their. The only thing that I didnt care for was how slow the checkout process was. Only one cashier with 12 people in line. Also bring your own bags . They have some you can buy and reuse but they dont bag the items for you.
Have yet to find a 2nd & Charles location I do not like (and Ive been to 6 different locations)! There are tons of books, comic books, collectibles, etc. Ive gotten three different very hard to find collectibles for my own collection, and several for a friends. I cant recommend them enough!
Amazing employees who are extremely friendly and know me when I walk in for the most part. Awesome selection, although they could always have more. Good prices on old technology and gaming systems for the most part. Some things are ridiculously overpriced but some things are also rather affordable and great quality. When they first opened you got much more for what you traded in then you do now. Some of their buyback rules I have seen them break but still tell me no. And they offer things a little low. All in all a good store to get rid of some house clutter and get yourself 1 or 2 things from it. Or just to keep collecting.
Great store, but always understaffed. The staff thats there seem to be introverts (like me) which is okay to a sense, but terrible for customer service oriented people (also me). All in all you go into the store, browse and buy. Dont expect anyone to come up to you and offer assistance. Still a great store though.
Cam was absolutely amazing and sweet. Checked out all my dvds and my boyfriends stuff to ensure good quality! (Including checking a pop socket! I wouldnt have even thought to check that.) Made good friendly and personal connection based off of the items I purchased! Great employee!
Oh, I LOVE this place! You can find anything from used books, to used records, to used gaming consoles (NES, Sega Genesis, etc.) and video games. Its a nice place to go to browse/shop on a lazy Sunday (or any day, really) afternoon. Book selection is decent, not huge. But with everything else they have, you just cant complain.
Enjoyed this store, great for people who collect action figures such as DC and Marvel. LPs are a little over priced, but my kids loved it here (a little bit of everything). I enjoyed the free bin outside, you never know what people put in there. (I got good CDs and books).
Went in today to buy some Funko Pops! I have always gotten a price match from them before but today, they stated they do not price match. They had some pops marked up double the value on some and the store manager was ridiculously rude towards customers when we had a couple of questions and wouldnt listen. She said they would change discrepancies but when there was one she wasnt having it and stayed behind her table like 20 feet without behind the counter even walking up and greeting us. Tried trading in $80 worth of pops before and was offered $4.76. definitely need a policy rework
Very well organized place considering the plethora of products they offer. Basically Books-a-Million meets Hastings, with a side order of Gamestop topped with a dash of your local pawnstore. Friendly people, though they tend to get busy so you may feel a bit behind on the priority scale, but generally great interactions and they are always super courteous about helping ya find what ya need. (You will ask, even if you hate doing so**its the bane of a Virgos existence**) Always worth a visit to see whats on clearance, whats new, and what interesting products and titles theyve picked out for the week to line the main isle if youre looking for a quick buy.
I used to love this place prior to the new management. Even the buyback program has become a joke. Selling vinyl and CDs are a waste of time when the staff rejects the items without even looking at them completely. I tried to sell some albums that I only played once and although I recently bought them from them, they were rejected and I was told that they were scratched when they werent. The backup for that is theyre overstocked with multiple titles. I honestly thought it was cool to find a store in the area that still sold vinyl but my recent experience was not a good one. Maybe it will change with better management one day.
I love 2nd and Charles. You can find great prices on gently used books, music and movies. Ive also sold back a lot of my own personal books and records when I didnt want them any more to get store credit, and then bought some new stuff. Everyone who works here is very nice, smiley, and happy to answer questions.
I went to the buyback counter to ask a question about the price of a book that I wanted to purchase, and was ignored. I stood there and the lady saw me but continued with what she was doing and didnt offer any assistance or anything. I went and found another employee and they were really nice and helpful. I told them about my experience and was informed that the lady who wouldnt help me was the manager. I really like the store and the other employees have been great so far but I cant believe that the manager would act like that and be so rude. Maybe she was just having a bad day but it looks bad for the company that they have someone there with that kind of attitude. I read some of the other reviews and it looks like Im not the only one thats had a problem. You need a better manager 2nd and Charles!!!
Takes you back in time... PROS: This is a good place to shop for unique gifts. They have everything from Atari games, board games, new harry potter gifts, multiple isles of figurines new and used, ps1, 2, 3, 4 games, xbox games, tons of vinyl, unique kids toys and isles and isles of books. CONS: EXPENSIVE. Be prepared to shell out some $$$.
Unfortunately, I cant give them over 2 stars. I love movies and when the local MovieStop store closed I was excited to have another store sell used Blu-ray and DVD movies. I like browsing and buying used movies at discounted prices rather than spending $10 to $15 for a new movie. Ok...their used movies are way overpriced. For instance, a movie they have for $8.95 I can get for $5 brand new on Amazon. They have 17 year old movies (The Hulk) for $6.95 used. Its $5 brand new on Amazon. Every movie I pick up I compare to Amazon and Ive walked out of the store the past 3 times with nothing because of over-priced movies. I like the buy 5 get 5 deals but last time I went in for that deal it seemed they upd the prices on the movies. In short...cool store, way overpriced stuff.
They had a Sailor Moon plushie!! I was so excited!! I spent so long looking at all the cool stuff (they literally have a section of books by color of the spine. I squeed out loud) I didnt have time to get through all the sections of books I wanted to look at. I cant wait to go back with my kiddos.
An interesting Store.Owned by the Books-A-Million Corp., this multi-faceted store has been at this location for about 4 years.Offering an eclectic variety of both older and newer music records and albums, this is a go-to store for music enthusiasts of virtually every musical taste. The store also offers a variety of new and used books for readers of different genres of print media. And T-shirts and other assorted bric-a-brac.Recomnended for people seeking an Interesting and Varied shopping experience.A Friendly and Helpful staff...
Today is our second visit to this location. They only have one person to process buying books and it takes hours and hours for one bin to be processed. There were no customers hardly during both visits. I have been to three other 2nd and Charles locations and love them! Not sure if it’s the management? They need to make changes if they want to succeed.
You know when you have something so great you just cant imagine how anyone could possibly screw it up? Yeah they figured it out, and then some. Sumer, the manager is incredibly rude and was this way to me on our first interaction, months after she joined the store and knew I was a frequent customer. District manager told me over the phone that if the manager was rude to me, maybe [I] should just stop shopping there. What a way to run a business. If my management experience has taught me anything, its that I would sooner bankrupt a company than hire either of them. Oh and they treat employees like garbage. Ask any of them.
Took almost 5 hours to look at two bins of books and then gave me the usual lame offer. Hire more people if youre getting backed up like that. This is no way to run a business. Half Price Books is just as ruthless with their offers, but at least you dont have to put your life on pause to get it.
Went into the store as I always do with my wife and kids to buy them some books, cashier offers me a magazine subscription and says I can get 3 free magazines of my choice and after I would be asked if I wanted to subscribe to each. I said sure because free magazines and started the process only to find out that it is a automatic subscription according to the bottom receipt. The clerk had no idea and apologized and said he would try and cancel my sign up.I did tell me wife and she told me they had made the same offer to her months ago and never said anything of the sort just free 3 magazines, no strings I used my recipt to call the hotline for these magazines and got a Indian call center that informed me that she not only had a subscription but she also had to pay for the 3 free magazines after recieving them all.(which she never did, but they insist they shipped em) I informed them their service was not properly explained at 2nd and Charles and they cancelled any charges but we will see what happens there.Called the2nd and Charles store manager after I finished with the magazine hotline and informed him of what happened and how I was being stuck with a $70.00 bill and got a sorry and he would take care of it. But here I am stuck with a bill and am writing this to warn people of the 3 free magazine offer, the vendor will charge you for the magazine after you recieve all 3 despite the words free magazines from 2nd and Charles
This used to be a great place to go. Nowadays not so much. They don’t have a lot of desirable items anymore and it’s understandable when you see how little they offer at buyback. The old management was friendly and knew what you liked and were looking for. They were fair in their dealings with you. The new management is rude and offers nothing. It’s not fun to go there anymore.
The manager Summer is rude to customers and employees. When an employee could not find a barcode rather than helping she proceeded to bark at her employees in front of customers and was very disrespectful. When I first asked for help she said He is such an idiot, the barcode is right in front of him She refused to look into any of the customer eyes, and made me feel like an idiot for trying to purchase an item and have the donation go towards the Trevor Project. She seems to be disgusted to even speak to me, I do not know if this is because I asked for help or because I am purchasing a Pride item. Then while I waited to buy the item to donate another customer tried to buy something and the computer froze and the manager again stated the employee was a fool and should know better. I have never left a google review before let alone a negative one but this manager needs to check her attitude and learn how to treat her employees with kindness and with at-least basic respect let alone treat her customers better. I am appalled and feel gross leaving the store from shame and uneasiness. I hope Chris- the AMAZING, KIND, SINCERE, employee who was cashing me out finds a better employer because no one deserves to be treated like less than a human.
Like to think of this as a combo Video/Music/Books/Comics/VideoGame/Toy store. Great for all your books, comics, games, movies, music cds, Accessories, clothing needs. If your a fan of a tv show or movie you can find full season sets on DVD. Even fan merchandise like tshirts, music soundtracks and book/comic/toys sets tied to it. Exampes if your a fan of Stranger things on Netflix they have posters, toy figures, music records and music CDs for it.
I have one question to ask. Can the employees at 2nd & Charles read? On multiple occasions, my son requested certain video games from 2nd & Charles. Each time the wrong disc was placed inside the case. As I said that this has happened on multiple occasion. As a result, transactions had to be voided each time. This should not have had to happen in the first place. I am choosing not shop at 2nd & Charles!!!
This place is very nice lots of books and games and many ohter things to purchase it is a very clean store with a wide variety of books to choose from the staff here is extremly freindly and very helpful when you need to find something that you cant find and if they cant find it they will go online and order it for you so I give this book store 5 star because the store has lots of tho gs to buy and the staff is extremly freindly good job guys and girls
Their management sucks. You would never want to work for this company. The manager at the Columbus , GA location has no idea how to do her job and should be fired for good reason. she mistreats her employees and cant keep any good employees because of her poor management.

2022-03-30A well kept and fun game shop. They have a pretty wide selection of everything from comics, video games, board games, game, consoles, books, music (even vinyl and instruments) and miscellaneous hobby stuff. The buy back option is pretty well run but they can get quite busy. Best to always call ahead to find out exactly what you might need to bring for trade in, unless its simple like books.

2022-06-12Ive visited this store frequently and I love the wide variety they offer! They have books, games, toys, electronics including some retro games and systems such as nintendo 64s and etc, comics, movies, and a lot of other stuff. The best thing is that its all mostly very cheap. The only down side is that there is not a way to check beforehand through their website if you are looking for something specific like a particular book but other than that, this is one of my favorite stores in the area because they have so much to offer at great prices!

2022-04-19Ive came here for the last couple of years. Prices have been reasonable for most things. However I highly recommend if youre going to sell stuff here, take it elsewhere. They will highly undervalue what you give them. Got what should have been on the low end $80, but at cash value I was given $40. I cant say Ill be returning knowing this is how they run their business.

2022-06-23This was quite an impressive store! It was my 1st time going in there, and I believe I could have spent the entire day looking at everything they had to sell, new and used. From musical instruments to cds, records, dvds, books, used gaming systems, games, gadgets, you name it, and it is probably there. Its definitely worth looking into if you want an interesting and fun store to shop.

2022-07-13They were better when they had people who knew what their doing.I was sold an Xbox 360 with no internal hard drive, no controller cord, and it kept shutting off on me. Theyve got ladies almost in their 60s back there now.

2022-06-24Cool store but no kpop. They would make so much profit if they got some. Even target sells kpop and it flies off the shelves. What is a music store without kpop? Seriously they are missing out on a lot of business since theres not really any other area aside from in Atlanta that is selling a lot of kpop.

2022-08-09Nice selection of board games and card games...loads of books, video games...great inventory and reasonable prices..great staff
