My pup stayed four nights here, which was awesome seeing as my trip was last minute. The price for boarding was reasonable, but I don’t remember being told that they were going to give her Capstar, as they do for every dog. (She doesn’t have bugs). I was told that they were going to give her a complementary bath, but never did. She smelled very bad when I brought her home. I called and they said it was their error. I was told I can bring her in whenever to get her, her bath. I will update this if they make good on that.
This is a far cry from a pet resort. My dogs were boarded here overnight after being referred by 2nd Ave Vet Clinic, which had no openings. When we made the reservation we were told they would have a 6’x4’ room with beds. When we arrived to pick them up my husband observed one of our dogs in a crate. Both dogs were saturated in urine and reeked. We had to drive home with all the windows down in the 90 degree weather to keep from gagging from the stench. While we bathed our dogs we noticed one of them was bleeding behind both of her hind legs. She clearly must have been caged as well and never taken out based on the dried urine around her sides, stomach, and back legs. When we called today to report our findings to the so called “pet resort”, poor excuse after excuse was made. Then they offered a discount for our next stay. That won’t be happening EVER! Take your dogs elsewhere-PLEASE!
Just had our senior Golden Retriever groomed at 2nd Home for the first time. We just wanted him bathed and his feet, ears, and belly cleaned up. On two occasions my husband was quoted $55 for grooming; however, when he picked up our dog, the final total was $86! They charged $70 for grooming + $10 for a helper (our dog cannot stand long) + $6 for shampoo (which was offered to my husband without mention of an up-charge).My husband was forthcoming about our dogs age related limitations, and there was no mention that if it was a difficult grooming, we would be charged more money. They even called to tell my husband that our dog was having a hard time standing in the tub, but made no mention of needing to charge more. A $31 deviance from the quote is significant! Not to mention his ears were not cleaned, and his beautiful Golden feathers were cut off!I was really hopeful that we had found our new go-to groomer, but sadly we will not be returning.
We trusted these people to take care of our baby and they neglected him to the point where no one saw this even when he got a bath the day before pick up. We even took him to their vet to get their opinion. He said it was a wound from licking. Okay that seems reasonable. But why did no one see this in the whole week he was there?? This licking wound would not happen over night. Meaning he was in pain for who knows how long. Thats what Im upset about. Not that he has a wound but that they think it was a wound from licking. Why did I pay almost $500 for no one to notice him. A piece of plastic couldve been stuck in his foot and wouldve been left there till we picked him up and noticed. We reserved their XL run their most expensive run and did not get that when we dropped him off. It was a smaller run half the size than what we saw on the tour. Reserved weeks in advance. We tried our best to get the best accommodations for him. No they did not refund us. I will not ask to be refunded. They should do it without me asking because thats the right thing to do. Regardless of the money no amount of money will take back the pain our baby suffered through. So all I want is to prevent this from happening to another family. Please share our experience with others. The best part is the kennel manger told me his feet were saturated from the water when cleaning the run because his water bowl spilled over. If thats the case why did no one dry it up? Why would his run be so saturated in water to cause a wound. When they returned our bag of toys. They reeked of urine. Why would anyone return that to us? That also made me think why did the toys smell like urine if they were cleaning their runs? Theres so much that happened there that I cant even list everything without seeming like Im over exaggerating the situation.
Only thing that made me angry was I called ahead of time and gave them all details of my for baby and made the appointment then when I get there they say they cant see her because she is too young. Thanks for the wasted trip that could have been prevented with a phone call or correct information

2022-05-30Great business. My little man loves going here to stay here for occasional daycare and boarding.2nd Home will send you cute photos of your fur baby in their daily report cards, which include a short summary of the behavior, activities or demeanor of your dog from that day.I hate having to board my buddy, but I know he’s in good hands here!

2021-05-26Last week was my first time using 2nd Home Pet Resort. I am absolutely in love! I was so skeptical about who I wanted to keep my fur baby, because I was gone for 6 days but they did an amazing job! Before he could go to the daycare, they tested his temperament with other dogs so I knew that they made sure that all dogs are safe to be around other dogs. They also made sure that he was vaccinated! While I was away, they sent pictures of my fur baby, gave updates of his demeanor, and gave me a daily report card when he went to doggy daycare or after an overnight stay. They were very flexible when my flight got delayed, and made it so easy to coordinate new pickup times, etc. I would highly recommend this resort! We will be using more often!

2021-07-22I was referred to this place by a friend. My dogs brother goes here. Ive only brought my dog here once but the time I did they listened to what I wanted done. I have a toy poodle and I got the teddy bear haircut for my dog and when she was done she looked so cute. I will be bringing her back.

2021-07-31We used to love this place but it has gone down hill. Some of the staff there are so unprofessional! I do not ever want them taking care of my dogs again. I would not recommend this place for your dogs.

2017-12-15Great place! They work really well with animals! My dog did horrible when I took him to petco to get groomed. Hes a shelter dog so he gets anxiety and worked up when he sees cages but when I brought him to 2nd Home Pet Resort he fit right in, got into a cage during nap time, had fun with the other dogs and wants to go back. The staff makes me feel very safe with leaving him there. I will be boarding my dog for 2 weeks and Im excited for him and not worried one bit. For anybody with loving dogs like mine or aggressive ones they will make your dig feel at ease. Aggressive dogs do not get to play with other dogs but they get worked with by a staff member one on one until they are ready. I havent seen any dog places like this before. The staff has it together really well!
