Absolutely phenomenal dining experience for brunch. Very cool laidback and casual atmosphere with unbelievably wonderful cuisine and cocktails.I just thought that I had the perfect combination with a Sangrita cocktail and Pork Belly Biscuit as my entree... until they brought out the Sweet Potatoes with pink peppercorn labneh, charred jalapeño, violette kale. I have no words! It was absolutely fantastic.Great service, great food and cool vibe. We will be back. 😎👍
Food was very tasty. We came through for Sunday brunch and there were literally 3 people waiting tables for the whole place, and only one for the outside (which was still just three groups). Everything else about the place is so cool but it was just frustrating to have to sit 2.5 hours just for one mimosa and a chicken biscuit. Mega bummer. ALSO MY COFFEE WAS ONLY THREE OUNCES AND I ONLY WAS ABLE TO GET ONE REFILL THAT I HAD TO GET UP TO GET. (See photo)I thought that was it. THE PAPAS BRAVAS CAME OUT WITH 8 TINY POTATO PIECES WHAT IS THIS OK ITS FOUR DOLLARS THIS ISNT EVEN A PORTION.
Super cute coffee shop eatery by day and hip bar and dinner hang out by night. I cant stress enough how chill this place is. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the food is creative and delicious (try the beef tongue reuben *yum* or the 8ARM burger melts in your mouth if youre not feeling adventurous). The vibe is eclectic and creative, great place to work as long as you have a full laptop battery (only two outlets next to the hightop bar) and dont have any calls scheduled (the music is at a moderate level, but makes it hard to hear). Perfect place for lunch/brunch or happy hour. Goooooo!
This place qualifies to be on my worst brunch experiences list. The food was terrible, overpriced and the service was just ok. The coffee milk(glorified milk with literally a few drops of coffee concentrate) and iced coffee were insipid and unreasonably overpriced. The chicken pozole was an insult for a Mexican dish with literally 4 small pieces of chicken in a small bowl of soup with a fork(no spoon) for $14...with a stupid runny egg(no substitutions please! this dish is too holy). The prime rib bagel for $12 was wet and runny... something you wouldnt wanna pay for at all. Overall I think this place doesnt take itself too seriously except when it comes to coming after your wallet. Not the ideal restaurant I was looking forward to at this prime spot.
Server was nice but didnt know anything on the menu. Couldnt answer any questions even basic questions like does this come with anything else? Is it spicy? Etc. Food was brought then the food runner spilled a full bottle of Saki... I expected them to immediately offer to bring another one complimentary but I had to ask and even then was told let me see what I can do... Im very familiar with craft cocktails but even this place is pushing it for the price. The owner should keep in mind your product has to be worthy of the price not just priced to cover cost of operations... Menu was limited and not very consumer friendly. You either want something specific on the menu or dont bother dropping in for a casual bite. There are better restaurants that offer similar with more options and atleast accommodating when they spill your drink. Decent concept but limited and over priced overall for what you get and the experience of breathing in nothing but exhaust on the patio...inside is dark and gloomy and not really an atmosphere.
This was quite disappointing. Ive seen good reviews so I wanted to try 8Arm. The welcome was kind of chilly or surly, the coffee was good but in a tiny tea cup, my bagel looked and tasted like it came from the grocery freezer section and the menu offerings seemed very sparse. All in all, I wont be back. Another reason not to go back: the owner responded and thought my review was funny! He didnt argue that they served me a store bought frozen bagel.
This was simple, delicious. Our server was a mind reader, and miraculously found chopsticks. Interesting, limited menu, but what they have, is very tasty, and high quality. Great cocktsils. Plus they had Wellers. Most bars, dont. Convenient to parking across street. I got lucky and found a free space at small front lot for patrons. Great meeting place for a date.
8 Arm is definitely worth going to, its essentially across the street from Ponce City Market, and you can get to it fairly easily from the BeltLine. Their espresso is some of the best Ive had in Atlanta, and the barista that made my cortado was very friendly. There arent many seats inside the cafe but there are some partially covered outside on the patio. I didnt get the chance to check the wifi but it was fairly quiet when I was there which would make a good place to read or work. The only annoying part is their hours as they do close the cafe fairly early but if they are open and you are nearby you should go to 8Arm.
Outstanding!!! The buratta, risotto, chicken...Nhan, Angus & Jeff have outdone themselves and its just a comfy little spot nestled under the BeltLine catty-corner to Greens and abutting Paris on Ponce (where I think their new concept AMA is still slated to go). Parking can be challenging, but sweet talk the valet or take Lyft/Uber and youre set! For right now its BYOB, but like I said, Greens package store is across the street so no worries!! No set menu, its what is fresh, hot, now and I doubt anything would be disappointing! Looking forward to more cozy date nights here! 😍
Excellent food and drinks. 8Arm is perfect for a quick coffee and pastry on your way somewhere, an afternoon lunch meeting with a client, a date night for you and yours, or a late night hang out with friends. Parking is limited, so consider taking a ride service, and once youve tasted the cocktails, you wont mind that you did.No, its not cheap, but try to remember that its a restaurant serving high quality food in Atlanta, so that really just goes with the territory. Maybe not great for the OTP crowd, as the music can be loud and their menu isnt as accommodating as Cheesecake Factory (Glamburgers, taquitos, and pizza, yall!), but industry people love it for a reason, and so do I.Breakfast highlights:- Egg McMuff- Biscuit Sandwich- Cinnamon RollLunch Highlights:- Lamborghini Helicopter- 8Arm Burger- 50/50Dinner Highlights:- Any Darby Chicken dish (I know, but trust me)- Porterhouse.- Anything on toast.- Bread Pudding (Dessert).
Go beyond your wildest expectations of your definition of cool with an atmosphere inspired by fusion fever dreams originating from unknown origins and time periods. Its your favorite album that you discovered in a record shop closed long ago that no one has ever heard about. Bring your own personality and instantly fit right in while being served like an old friend of the family. The tastes are bold and explore the depths that their chef will plumb to harvest inspired and innovative rotating dishes that will tantillate and titillate your mind as well as your tongue. Have a lovingly crafted cocktail, take a deep breathe, and look around. 8ARM is what dining should aspire to be.
This was such a fun and cute place! I sat at the sushi bar and the food was great and so was the staff! I would definitely recommend going to friends and family passing through Atlanta. Additionally, it is right across the street from Ponce which means after dinner you could go for a walk around Ponce for more fun!
There are some great food options at 8ARM for dinner and even later. Stopped in last week in the later hours and got some food and drinks. The kaarage sandwich is a hefty one. Tasty and well worth it. Along with that, we ordered a kimchi hot dog and some sides. All very tasty. Plenty more to try out as well.
Really disappointed with this meal. We went to 8arm last week with an out of town guest. The takoyaki was overcooked and chewy. The roasted strip steak was also chewy. The chicken karaage and the tonkotsu were just fine, not great. I ordered the $17 pearl diver cocktail which was terrible. I returned it after 2 sips but the waitress did not remove it from the bill. There is a automatic 20% gratuity on the bill. So I paid $20 for a cocktail I didnt drink. We will not be back.
From the same duo that brought Atlanta Octopus Bar and Lusca is 8arm, located on the Ponce side of Paris on Ponce, in the morning serves as a coffee shop and bakery and in the evening next door offers a rotating list of fresh small and sharable selections. Location is BYOB friendly, food is as excellent as youd expect from the team of Brown and Lee. Atlanta is fortunate for places like this.
Cool spot near Ponce City Market and the Beltline for cocktails, but they arent cheap. Bartenders were attentive and friendly. Trendy atmosphere with a mostly 30s crowd, kind of a shabby-chic vibe. There are plenty of options in the area but I can see myself visiting again son for the 8ARM old fashioned.
I REALLY want to give this place 5 stars, but I can’t. We waited 2 hours for 3 sushi rolls. It took 45 minutes for us to get a cocktail. We thought wine would be faster (since it is simply poured from a bottle), but that took 30 mins to get as well. This place has delicious food, but it is apparently not managed well. I won’t be back.
Do you like Innovation? Do you like creativity? Do you like uniqueness? Do you like EXTREMELY well designed menus; aesthetically and content? Do you like to try NEW things? Do you like small, whacky, spaces to dine in? Do you like to be surrounded by people from all walks of life? Do you like to hear different music? Then go. Try something new, enjoy and appreciate that there is a group of people getting together and TRYING very HARD to give us, you, we, me some genuinely thought out and compassionate food & beverage.Seriously, just go and have fun yall.
My husband and I are huge foodies and 8Arm has by far been our standout of this past year. You can count on Maricela to surprise you with all of the flavor and ingredients. I never thought I would enjoy a mushroom more than the way she can magically dish it up. If you’re with a small group, I’d recommend ordering the entire menu (it’s smaller) and eating family style so you get to try everything! Bonus is that they source all their ingredients from local Georgia farmers so you can trust you are not only eating the best but supporting local!
We love trying new restaurants, this was the pick this week. Love the ambience, its cute, trendy feel and theres an outdoor patio area which looks fun in the warmer days. We had the fried chicken and whole trout, both were delicious with interesting combinations. However the service has room for improvement. The guy at the front seems lost in space. It was empty when we arrived and it was V-day so I asked when it usually gets busy, his response was 9pm... also 7pm... and in between. Waitress also didnt seem like she knew what she was doing. Just beer took a long time to come out. Would rank 4 for food and 2.5 for service.
THERE IS A 20% SERVICE CHARGE ADDED TO ALL ORDERS, TO GUARANTEE A LIVING WAGE FOR OUR STAFFTheyre your employees, not your guests employees. You are responsible for their pay, not your guests.Ill pay 25% service charge, but the service has to be good. dont milk your customers to keep the profits for yourself - STOP DEHUMANIZING RESTAURANT WORKERS.
One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Food is art here, and you can tell how passionate the staff and owners are with every bite. Love the changing menu. Love the vibe. Great service, always. (my kind of service. dont talk to me unless I talk to you. just tell me about the food Im ordering and answer my dumb questions when I have them.) Great date spot. Great brunch spot. Perfect place for those who are looking for something different and fresh.
Eat great, even when it’s late. This adorable little place is cozy and the food is above average. Let me explain. This is one of the only places in Atlanta that you can go to after 10 pm on a weekday and experience culinary flare. I had some dumplings and fried oysters tonight. Pretty perfect. Presentation: great. Flavor: great. Consistency: great. The choice was between 8arm and fast food. I’m so glad I spent a few extra bucks here; fast food is actually expensive these days and makes you feel terrible. Service was prompt, despite the hour. I’ve been here during normal hours and was impressed with the affordable wine carafes and range of dishes. The menu always changes and has low to high end items. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, which is rare these days. Thanks, 8arm!
This littler hole in the wall is a must for late night drinks and food. Its got a great vibe. Good music. Its a little loud on the patio area, but that doesnt matter. I usually get the happy meal everything on the menu changes every month or so. You get great variety with that. I always go for the tequila cocktails but the other ones are great too.
Sad to see one of our favorite breakfast place fall so hard! First off, no more espresso drinks, what gives? Second, the service was very poor. Our server only visited our table one time during our entire hour long visit. We had to flag down another server to get coffee refilled, our food delivered (which took about 30 minutes to reach the table), and our check. Thankfully we had cash so we didnt have a wait for that part of the visit. The first was also very mediocre. For $10 for a grains bowl I would expect more than 3-4oz of food and three pea sized chunks of cheddar listed on the menu. The mcmuff was decent, but the avocado was a paste and was very heavy on the lime. So much so that it overwhelmed every other ingredient in the sandwich.Well be picking a new breakfast spot for our time in Atlanta.
This used to be one of my favorite Atlanta spots - over time, I have soured. Overall - Staff is arrogant, food is very expensive and portions are tiny. Here are a few examples of what really got me over the past few years:1) For a short period of time they had a cocktail bar (ink) in the same building. When I wanted to go in, the host said let me check about space. A few minutes later he came out and said yes, there is space. When I entered, there were 2 other people in the bar!2) Another time, I wanted to bring my drink out of INK to the main part of 8arm to meet my other friend who arrived - this was strictly forbidden, even though I had just paid $14 for this 2.5 oz. I asked if there were some city rules about this - nope - just their policy.3) 8arm had an issue with some wine refrigerators they bought, apparently they broke and had trouble with maintenance. Amidst their frustration, they called out the company publicly (and shamed them) on their instagram.4) And finally, while I tend to support most of the social justice causes they do, their instagram rhetoric is beyond what I could tolerate. Its too bad, because the venue itself is pretty cool. And if you want to see how unprofessional they really are, see some of their responses to low reviews. I hope I get one!
Had brunch here. We ordered the strawberry croissant, sausage croissant, and grits dish. Took about 25 minutes for the grits to come, about 35 for the sausage croissant, and Im pretty sure the server forgot to ring in the strawberry croissant because, while picking up the empty plates, asked if we wanted anything else. Thankfully, she comped the strawberry croissant. No coffee refill was provided for the hour we sat there. Food was definitely good, although the sausage croissant had way too much garlic in the aioli. Not sure if this place is working out the kinks or just indifferent to humans paying money in exchange for food and service.
Funky and cool without being pretentious. Great food, breakfast and brunch are excellent, portions are good. Some of the best and inventive cocktails in town while also reasonably priced and not snobby. Get a sherry or port flip, they are made perfectly there. Unique wine and fortified wine list as well.
Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with appetizer like servings of clam toast and little gem salad. We ordered items as one item was delivered to control delivery to the table as menu states, “items arrive at your table as they are prepared in no particular order. “ Our favorites were ribeye and whole trout. On the trout plate, the minced pork and diubanjiang were spicy! I enjoyed that. I would have sopped that brown gravy like treat with a biscuit had one been available. Check out the menu photo to see the steak and trout descriptions.
If you go here, get the entre that has the Birria in its name. It was pretty good. The soup that it came with it was okay. The broth was ehhh okay. Not too much taste to it but regardless it was good all around. For drinks, if want something sweet, get yourself a Ponce Punch. Nice buzz and something light! You want something a little harder or packs a little punch, try the Lions ?? I cant remember actual drink name but it tastes great but it will leave you like...whoaa. You would be done if you have more than one if you are a light weight. Of course, ladies and gents, drink responsibly! Im out!
We visited on Valentine’s day for dinner. The food was so unique and tasty! We loved picking the flavors out of the dishes and couldn’t believe how good some of the combos were (like a pork chop with spiced coconut vinegar and Szechuan pepper, such great flavor!). We liked every dish we ordered. Our server was very knowledgeable and patiently explained everything to us. The whole trout with carrot nage (sauce) was so tasty, we even told the people sitting next to us that they had to order it. Our only negatives were my husband’s cocktail which didn’t seem balanced, and my glass of wine which seemed very small, more like 3 or 4 oz rather than the 6oz I was expecting. Overall we had a great visit!
Let’s say that i was really enthusiastic about the menu, so me and my girlfriend went out to give them a tryStart with the Octopus Plate, nothing special, few pieces of old tasting octopus and huge amounts of Potato. Then we ordered Cacio and Pepe With Truffle.Taste like Pasta in a canned.Definitely not coming back here. There’s other place with better food and price. Nothing special in here.
This restaurant provided me with some of THE WORST SERVICE I have ever had in my life. The staff was; rude, slow, unknowledgable, inattentive, forgetful - making for an all around terrible experience. The staff couldnt describe dishes, couldnt describe the flavors of the dishes - this is despite a very small menu. If you want to ask about a wine pariing youd be better off asking your phone - the staff could hardly have known less about wine. My food was good, but I will never return to this restaurant. There are so many food options in Atlanta with food equally as good but with service that wont infuriate you as a customer.I waited tables for 6+ years and am a very understanding customer. There is no excuse for how horrible the staff I encountered was. Your money is better spent elsewhere - check out my other reviews for better picks.
The only thing I’d suggest coming here for (during the day) is the crab toast. I went for brunch today and ordered the gold rice dish. I got about 9 spoonfuls of cold soupy grain with cold corn and a lot of spice. Disappointing. That cold ladleful was $9 and took 15 minutes to get to the table. There were maybe 7 tables of people in the restaurant. Not busy. Not good.Beer at night outside is the way to go. Otherwise, never again.
It was a cool little place, My waitress was cool , from Brooklyn , but beside that not much more going on. I think they are trying to hard, Breakfast is simple eggs, pancakes, bacon, waffles things like that .. My meal was way to complicated, from the hot, cold combo did not fly... Stick the basic and I think this can be a very cool place.
First of all - would be nice to know that the oatmeal was going to be served cold. the other three people in my party got hot dishes - they came out 20 minutes before my cold oatmeal! Seriously? Service is lacking . The others really enjoyed their food, but there are plenty of places to get good food along with good service.
A late night in Atlanta led my wife and I here, and coming here was the best decision we could have made. Usually when youre stuck in your hotel and its late you just try and order a pizza and call it a night. But we decided to hit the town and look for a late night joint and we struck gold. The menu is small and at first glance you notice the prices are pretty high, but when you understand what youre getting into it doesnt even matter. The smaller the menu, the better is what I have always thought and the I was right because these dishes were handled and prepared perfectly. Ill make this part quick. Lamborghini helicopter... Youre better off asking what isnt in it. How the chef came up with it is beyond me but every element in that sandwich plays off of one another perfectly. If I ever find myself in Atlanta again, this will be a must visit scenario .
Not what it used to be. Space is much improved but they ditched their coffee/espresso bar (drip and iced coffee are now the only options) and the food has gone all the way to the extreme frou-frou end of the spectrum. If you want anything approaching a traditional brunch go elsewhere. If you want plates of beets and arugula and ingredients you will have to Google at 15 bucks a plate then maybe you will like it.
Easily the best and most consistently delicious coffee in Atlanta, and especially great for espresso drinks. They source coffee from select roasters all over the country, so its both wonderful as well as something different from what you can get at other local cafes. The snacks and brunch items are also too notch. This has become my regular coffee shop, and Ive never had anything less than stellar here.
Really creative and reasonably priced shareable dishes (contrary to what some reviewers wrote, this is real, uber-seasonal and farm-to-table food that pops with flavor. For large portions, look for chain restaurants). The expert craft and skill that goes into each carefully thought out dish on the menu is worth a trip - or many trips!
Food is great! Acidic coffee is an acquired taste and I dont like it. It prevents me from going more often than normal. I get wanting to be different but having regular coffee, a high margin products as well is just SMART business. Could be getting another $4-$5 out of me per week/$20-per month/$240 per year Xs how many other people feel the same way. Adds up..............
I may go here more than I care to admit. Super Chef Keith Remes is an artist. It’s really a sweet spot with lots of heart and odd combinations that will make you think, “WHAT?! That goes together so well!”. The burger is amazing aaaaand the fuchsia sauce is both fun to look at AND delicious. You have to try the whole fish (go ahead, eat the eyes, it’s good for ya!). Late night menu includes a “happy meal”; a beer, a shot, a burger. The weekend brunch has the ever loved avocado toast; my fave is the egg biscuit but, they also have a potato dish that is great and lots of more meaty options. This is not a place you go hoping the chef will accommodate to your dietary needs but there’s definitely at least one thing for everyone.Cocktails are good as well and bar staff is fun.Sundays are a big party.
My boyfriend and I ate here the third day they were open and both loved it. The space is small but airy and hip. The menu is small (8 items) but curated well with nice variety. We ordered the burrata, lady pea soup, salad, and the halibut. All four dishes were fantastic! (Omg, that burrata!) Service was friendly and fast. They didnt have their liquor license yet so I cant comment on drinks but Ill definitely try them soon. I cant wait to try their breakfast when they expand their hours. Great experience all around and well definitely be back!
So, the food was very well prepared and quite tasty. That said, it was overpriced and the portion sizes were very small. The real problem here though is the service, its just terrible. There are no assigned waiters or sections, so its just a bunch of people running around not knowing who has serviced which tables and what they did. It was chaos and is a terrible system. We were there for about a half hour, never got any refills on our drinks and had to hunt someone down to pay for our bill at the end. Will not go back and I recommend you avoid this place as well.
Every dish we had was overly spicy and overpowered the flavors. The flavors of the tradito were not paired well and the turmeric broth was unappetizing. The tamal was good but again so spicy. I’m a fan of spicy but this was not done well. Unfortunate experience, we may try it again but not any time soon.
8arm used to be my favorite place to eat breakfast/brunch in Atlanta, the first place Id take out of town friends and family when they came to visit.Over the past few months, however, the service has drastically declined in quality. The Egg McMuff (my favorite) and other menu items continue to be delicious, but the wait staff are amateurish at best. Simple things like water refills and getting the check take forever, and last time I was there they served me my food a full 15 minutes before my girlfriend, even though we got the same thing. So Ill still keep going to 8arm and hoping the service returns to the level of quality it was earlier this year, but its no longer an every week visit like it used to be. Willing and eager to change to 5 stars if things change!
SO disappointed. What the hell happened to 8arm?? This place used to be my first choice for brunch and now I find myself writing over the 5 star review I left years ago.We sat and ordered coffee right away. No more espresso drinks, which is a shame, but Im not one to fuss so drip was fine. About 5 minutes later she brings the coffee and takes our order. And then, she just NEVER COMES BACK.We finish the coffee in a few minutes and watch food slowly trickle out of the kitchen. Ready for a refill, we spend about 10 minutes hoping the server will eventually come check on us. When that fails, we stay attentive hoping to catch her attention. Of course, she never so much as glances our way. After spending another 5 minutes watching the other server refill coffees for his guests, I eventually get up with my empty coffee mugs and walk across the restaurant to ask the other server for a refill. After waiting over 30 minutes for my $12 grain bowl to arrive, I am presented with a soft boiled egg and ~4 oz of lentils and grains, topped with 5 or 6 miniscule cubes of cheddar. All I could taste was lime and paprika. My meal was gone in about 6 spoonfuls and by the end of that I felt like I hadnt even eaten. My partner got the buiscuit thing and that was marginally better, even though the avocado goo was also mainly composed of lime.We ask the server that delivered our meal for the check, fearing another 20 minutes of terrible service. She never comes back to refill our empty coffees, check on us, or ask us if our meal was ok. She seems to have completely forgotten she is supposed to be taking care of us.I have worked in hospitality for years and I am not a picky or difficult customer. I try to be understanding and go with the flow but I have never felt so utterly neglected by a server. The coffee was average and the food was bad. Im never coming back here again.
Ive been here a few times and each time I pay a lot for a little bit of food thats not nearly as impressive as it purports to be. Its far from terrible, but the portions are very small and youll pay much more than you will for something similar elsewhere. In all fairness, my wife and her friends seem to like the place and the food, so maybe its just me...
Burger with the triple threat sauce was good. Second time having it, it was better the first time and had more sauce. Server (woman) with glasses inside was very sweet. The bartender outside with the curly hair was shockingly rude. If the drink he makes you is too strong, dont ask him to add more syrup and lime juice, or youll be scolded, told your insulting the drink. He will take away your chance to even enjoy the drink by voluntarily voiding it, followed by a harsh demand to leave. I quote, you can leave. I never want to come here again. I would strongly advise everyone to follow suit. Or if you come here, make sure to avoid the bartender outside unless you want your night ruined. I have a strong presence in the PR industry in Atlanta, been to just about every restaurant in the city. Never have I encountered a staff member who was so blatantly disrespectful. That is not how anyone should be treated. Shame on you. You are an awful representation of 8ARM.
This is my favorite place in Atlanta. the food is creative and always excellent (even if sometimes you’re not entirely sure what you’ve ordered until it comes out), they make fantastic cocktails, and the wine list is honestly great (especially if you’re an annoying natural wine hypebeast like me). whoever chooses the music has A+ taste and the ambiance is lovely, trendy but not in the kind of way that it gets ruined in 6 months by people posting their food for Instagrams. Inkbar is hella cute and tinned fishes are delicious. The burrata thing they had literally tasted like cereal and milk, don’t ask me why. Yes, sometimes the service can be a bit confusing especially at brunch, but I’d rather be unsure where my check is for a while than go eat something deeply unsatisfying at one of the other far inferior brunch spots nearby. Also, go to three heart for your espresso and stop complaining about the coffee while you eat whatever delicious breakfast item was just erratically served to you. It’s damn good coffee.
Not impressed with the new chef Vega. The food before was a mixture of everything, now it’s mostly plant based. That would be okay..if it was a plant based restaurant. I’m fine with great presentation but can you also do other things to wow me? Like make the food taste actually good, and not just pretty? If flowers on all your food is your thing, then this is the spot for you. I don’t see this place lasting that much longer. When will Atlanta restaurants learn their audience?
A friend of mine and I visited 8ARM on the evening of Friday June 22. It was our first visit, we sat on the patio. The ambiance was interesting, it has a cool look but the place is small. Still, we were able to be seated without a wait. We started off with a round of drinks, shishito peppers, and half dozen of the beausoleil oysters. I felt the drinks were well-made and we both enjoyed the shishito peppers. When the oysters arrived, we noticed there was no cocktail sauce, vinegar mignonette, etc. Just the oysters and a lemon wedge (fine with me but I love mignonette). I tried the oysters and did not like the first one due to a strong fishy taste. I had one more and it was even more fishy tasting than the first. We sent the oysters back and continued ordering entrees, the braised lamb neck risotto and half chicken (which I was told was a play on chicken parmesan). The lamb dish was tasty, but we both agreed it was too salty. My chicken dish was just okay. Our server was friendly, but at the end of the meal she informed us that the manager was not willing to remove the fishy oysters that we didnt eat from our bill. I felt that was not very fair because the oysters were bad. The four oysters we didnt eat at a cost of $3 each is only $12, so it wasnt a big deal but I felt it was low-class. I wont be back to 8ARM again, and will be talking about my opinion of our poor experience at this restaurant at every opportunity with patrons at the bars and restaurants I frequent in the area.
I have eaten there several times with a friend. Foos is fine, but I always seem to leave hungry??? Extremely loud. Hip people eating, seems very popular and gets busy with people waiting on the weekends. Hip decor if you classify spartan, non-descript decor as hip. They are so busy that they barely have time to interact with the customers, and I would feel guilty if lingered past finishing my meal. Limited parking. Really popular, but I just dont get it?
I thought the food was good and the ambiance was quaint; my boyfriend did not enjoy the place at all. Definitely steer clear if you are on a budget, as the menu is a limited selection of pricey small plates, and there was very little on the menu for him to eat. They did not have a liquor or wine license when we went, so BYOB, which we did not know.Beware of the hostess/waitress who was wearing a tank top and does not shave her armpits....she was cute, but that could be a bit much for some people.
First time I went the food was great but the customer service was terrible. The waiter didnt bring us utensils or napkins and when we requested them, it took an extremely long time to get them, plus, inexplicably, an attitude. The second time, we came for drinks 10 minutes too early.. we didnt think much of it. We sat down in the outdoor area and waited for the bar to open. No one told us we couldnt when we first came in. Then next thing you know, the bartender came to us with her arms folded and barked: you guys need to leave right now with this mean Regina George look and stared at us as we walked out. The atmosphere outside is cool and all but Im not sure if Id want to come back. Ill take my money somewhere where they dont treat their customers like burdens. Very unprofessional.
I read the recent rave by the AJC about this place and decided to take my friend visiting from Long Island there. Service was good. We had the oyster mushrooms, zucchini bruschetta, and summer zalad (yes, spelled with a z). All were delicious, but the oyster mushrooms and zucchini bruschetta were amazing- unique flavors just popped- it was something different! The presentation with the beautiful small flowers on the bruschetta made bruschetta as a meal seem new again. My friend thought so too. If you want more quiet, sit inside. Want more party atmosphere, sit on the patio. This place has something for everyone including vegetarians and vegans. Dishes are made to share, but next time, Im not sharing!
This place was really disappointing. If you’re late for your reservation they charge you $50 after telling you it’s ok. No one ever answers the phone and the voicemail is always full. We waited over 30mins for our drinks to arrive and decided to leave. Then they charged me the extra $50. Lame
Horrible service during Sunday brunch. First of all, you have to seat yourself and its very busy so you form your own line. No one is there to tell you where to stand when to sit or what to do. We finally found a seat and waited almost 30 minutes for someone to see us. After I waved my hand of course. I said that we’ve been waiting here for 30 minutes and haven’t even gotten a drink. So she turned around got us water and started leaving. I had to stop her and say we need coffee and food also. No apology nothing. After we got the food, there were no check ins to see if everything is okay or if we needed anything. After we finished we waited another 15 minutes for someone to see us and get our check. The waitress then went off to do other things and didn’t bring a check for another 10 minutes. No apology, nothing again. The food is good but service is very disappointing so be prepared.
Waaaaaayyyyy over priced!! Im not sure about dinner food but I went for morning/ brunch and what? Just a toast or just a biscuit $10. Drinks were like $10 too and they were small glasses. No thank you. I can just make it at home with under the cost and way more more than just 1. Also, A waiter made mistake on the cost of food too! I realized after I came back home and when my husband showed me the receipt. Ill go there if you only want to waste your money.
Service was erratic, it wasnt busy but we were left with empty drink glasses for a while. It was also hard to tell from the menu how big the portions were (they ended up being pretty big but we had ordered a bit too much thinking they were tapas size). However, their special of ramp kimchi was so amazing that it almost outweighed the negatives. It was served over pineapple which I never would have thought would work
Drinks are overpriced for mediocre cocktails. Service was real slow the night I was there and one of our water glasses had a piece of chewed gum in it, this was after the first glass of water had lipstick on it. I will say though the waitress was super apologetic and wanted to make things right, but unfortunately the next drink came out in a cracked glass
I love this space... it has such a duality. As you enter you are met with a modest low slung counter. A few baked goods dot the landscape, coffee machine sitting prominently in back and decorative items are pepper through the room. Ordering and paying, whether you dine in or take out, is done here. Should you choose to dine in you can slip through a narrow corridor into the second personality which this resturant boast... featuring a large community-like room awash with natural light. The seats and tables are of a modest medium color wood with personality trapped in its grain. To say this space is inviting... is an understatement. You will find yourself equally at home grabbing a cup of Joe to go as you scurry to work and enjoy laughing with friends while savoring a bite here one night as the clock slips up to midnight. Yup... thats right... they are open late. Too boot... this spot looks impossible romantic in the wee hours as you spy the cars whizzing by on Ponce.
I sympathize for the few good servers and bartenders here because the management is so poor. I asked for more lime juice and cane syrup in my drink. Instead of fulfilling my request, the General Manager, Joshua Fryer, quickly snatched the drink out of my hand and told me I was insulting the drink. He then told me the beverage would be voided and that I needed to leave. I will not ever be back and do not recommend to anyone unless they enjoy the likelihood of experiencing rude and contemptuous service.
A touch overpriced. I was forgiving that due to its cute + simple ambiance+food. But the last time I was there, the barista gave me a hard time for wanting to change the cheese on my breakfast sandwich, acting as if this was quite impossible. And it seemed to really inconvenience him to check with the cook--who of course said it wasnt a problem. The baristas almost mean inflexibility has put me off from returning.
Fantastic outdoor bar with creative cocktails and great drink options. I started with a corpse reviver #2 and it was refreshing and perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Then moved on to their sake saison. What a wonderfully weird beer! It starts off hoppy like an IPA and finishes off bone dry. Lastly, I shared the housemade Spanish style vermouth with a friend. Its light, savory, and a good option if you want to keep the day going without a lot of booziness. Its served in a carafe and garnished with olives & orange slices. This was my favorite of the drinks I had. Be sure to save the olives for snacking. Theyre plump and house marinated. Kinda wish I could just have a side of olives while drinking this concoction. Theyre so good! Next time I stop by, I want to try one of their bottles of wine. They have wine I never heard of. Definitely some good stuff for wine nerds. Gotta hand it to Joshua, the bar manager. Hes got a strong drink game going and would love to see what the future holds for 8arm. Cant wait to go back. Cheers!
Absolutely love the vibe of this spot. Low key dim lit cool music great drinks. First time coming to this spot, and i live it. If u like low key spots edith good eats and drinks where u and your friends can have a good time. Then this is the place for you. The bartender caleb is great and he looks like jesus lol.
I give up. We live across the street from 8ARM and since opening weekend, Ive supported this spot - dinner dates, sharing with foodie friends on Instagram and neighbors on Nextdoor, brunch with girlfriends, coffee with my mom, heading to the bars grand opening last night. The food tastes good and is, like the interior, wonderfully photogenic and inventive. But where Angus Brown thoughtfully paired a welcoming environment with a rotating menu of tried and true mouth amusers, 8ARM has since adjusted to scattered offerings that land heavy on kitsch and hype, light on substance and experience.Last night the tiki-themed container car patio bar had artisan hunch punch, wine, and some great cocktail specials. There was a taco truck. Obscure 70s movie playing. Snapchatters galore. $15 for a plastic cup of 2 ounces of Amaro Nonino and a large ice cube (for $45, you can skip the wait at the bar line - walk across the street to Greens and buy a bottle to share with 11 friends). They were out of beer and ginger syrup by 11 - I think the party ran until 2.The DJ was great. But you can also find solid late-night music and a steady supply of alcohol at MJQ, Victory Bar, Venkmans, Bantam Pub, Bookhouse, Nonis, and occasionally, Clermont Lounge.Breakfast and brunch run around $15 for coffee and an egg sandwich. Refills on coffee - yes, refills on iced coffee - no. On weekends, breakfast items start disappearing within a couple hours of opening. The guy at the coffee bar is always nice to everyone - so, thanks coffee guy, youre the best!Interactions with AM and late-night servers seem to vary based on whether they personally know you and/or if they like what youre wearing. Aim for athleisure gear or Ace of Base circa 1996 for better service. One time my mom wore non-ironic regular mom clothes. Over-priced and the people arent nice, she said of her first and only foray to 8ARM.If you dont feel like rolling the dice on courtesy, try Chrome Yellow, Cast Iron, or Ladybird. They offer incredible brunch fare with a consistently hospitable staff, whether youre my mom or the owner of a sweet 89 Yamaha XT250*.I havent been for dinner since they secured a liquor license and dropped BYOB. For around $60, you could bring sips from home and enjoy two entrees and a salad or dessert. The food was always interesting and excellent, and the service was more consistent and kind.TL;DR: I know Chef Nhan Le will continue Anguss legacy of a carefully curated, stellar dinner menu, and Im sure in-town influencers will continue to rave about the artful decor and the amuse boucheyness of it all - Im just tired of feeling like Jeff Lebowski intruding on some secret nihilistic art project every time I want a cortado.*My mom is, in fact, the owner of a sweet 89 Yamaha XT250. She did not ride it to 8ARM. She believes people should generally just be nice whether or not they know you are the owner of a sweet 89 Yamaha XT250.
Wow, I can hardly believe Ive missed out on this gem! We arrived at 9:20 on a chilly Saturday morning, and snagged a comfy corner spot right away, but the inside filled up quickly (read: Get Here Early!). We had the McMuff, Cinnamon Roll, and Quiche and everything was amazing! The quiche crust is magic, and the cinnamon roll is huge and topped with a mound of cream cheese frosting. Everything was fresh and delicious. Dont miss 8 Arm, and come early!!
Service & food mediocre AF!!!! Was so excited to go and experience this venue. Was not excited about the food at all. The service was also not cool. “We don’t do to go orders”while dining in waiting for our orders... and other unnecessary things.. but hey 5 stars for DECOR, SETUP, DESIGN & LIGHTING!!! 5 stars definitely!! I’ll never eat there again but definenately grab drinks!!
Dont expect this place to cook meat to your order and when you ask why...the response is basically take it or leave it. Probably why dinner left a lot to be desired. I guess I am not surprised because the manager, Joshua Fryer, is rude and could care less about customer service. There is one thing this place has going for it...the location so whenever it closes itll be a great place for a new restaurant that actually cares about food quality and taking care of their guests.
Creative brunch fare. If you’re looking for traditional omelettes, waffles, etc, then this is not your spot. If you’re looking for duck confit and eggs served with aioli, or a chicken tamale with black beans and fried herbs, well this is your spot. Cool trendy spot in the old Twist n Scoot shop on Ponce.
Nestled in one of the most vibrant spots in Atlanta, 8 Arm offers and excellent setting to grab a coffee and work or a delicious brunch with friends.During the late afternoon, the coffee shop transforms into a chic dinner setting and offers a lively outdoor patio with high tables for drinks with the citys locals.
Went this morning for breakfast with my family, and I was extremely disappointed the service was horribleWe were there at 9:30 am and the place was empty. Other people came after us and were helped. 2 other tables were helped before ours. Finally got water which we couldnt drink because it was soaped water.... we ordered coffee and it was not good coffee. We got up paid for our coffee and left.
Honestly. I dont want to give bad reviews but the service here was really bad. As someone in the industry for me to be able to go through a full transaction without the barista saying even ONE word to me and my mother was unfortunate. The coffee is decent but I seriously hope this was a standalone event.
Not impressed at all. Food was overcooked, cold, and some items were bland. The silverware & tables were dirty, and there were ants on one of the tables/benches near the windows and walls. Service was ok at best, we felt the staff couldnt be bothered by us. Disappointed
Cool and comfy spot that is located right before ponce city market between chipotle. Has an ambience of retro, cool hipster outside bar. Just only for drinks and mingling. All walks of life frequent this little establishment when open. The most active is on Saturdays, and sundays. Sometimes there are boutiques outside to draw in the patrons. Very relaxed and friendly spot with a dj pumping those electro tunes that are mixture of EDM and groove. Check it out could make some connects for networking!
I’ve been here several times and really enjoy the bar atmosphere outside and the food. It’s become a staple of Ponce de Leon, and I always try to bring out of town friends for drinks and late night snacks. I’m sad to say in the 20+ times I’ve stopped in, I’ve never been shoved by a tiny man that works there.

2022-03-31I took my uncle here for dinner tonight. He was a bit skeptical of the decor, but as soon as he started eating he was very impressed. We started off with seaweed salad and the chicken karaage. Both dishes were excellent. The seaweed salad was very fresh and the chicken was perfectly fried- nice and crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. The next course was the octopus skewers and the beef tartare. The octopus was perfectly grilled so that there was a little bit of bite but not chewy and the flavor was nice and savory. The beef tartare was the star of the second course. The mixture of the Wasabi, beef, yuzu, and tobiko with the nori was a truly exciting experience. We could not stop eating it. This dish is a must try!!!Finally, we ended with the monkfish and the yellowtail collar. Both were as delicate as I was expecting and perfectly seasoned to add depth and richness to the fish without overpowering the flavor of the meat. I will absolutely be back with more people, so that I can spread the word about this wonderful restaurant!Overall, my favorite dish was the beef tartare. What an unexpectedly delicious combination of flavors! I cant wait to come back and explore the sushi menu

2022-07-05Very sceney- young hip Instagram vibe. Nice outdoor bar area. Food was good but a little overpriced. Spot is closing in October but will have rotating chefs until then. Like the steak tartare the best. Ginger beer was yummy

2021-12-31One of the best restaurants I’ve been to mid-pandemic. Vaccine and masks required was a major plus for us. Food was immaculate, all incredibly fresh and well priced for the quality. We had steak, chicken, and sweet potato yakatori, two rolls (spicy and regular tuna,) the beef tartare, a very fresh crudo, and mushroom soba noodles (so much umami!) No dish was a miss and service was super quick without being rushed

2022-03-11Ate at 8arm the evening of 3/9. Service started out pretty well and we received drinks and apps at a timely manner (about 10-15 minutes). No so bad. About 3 waiters were working the room so looked like the flow was doing well for other tables as well UNTIL a couple actors walked in and joined another group making it a table of 5.At this point, all waiters diverted their time and attention to said table. Our drinks and food then started coming out between 45 minutes to an hour long (even after we were told that there was one less staff person working that night). And I noticed this with one other table who arrived around the same time as me. This only worked for us as we ordered enough food to hold us over. Tables that arrived even after the celeb table were ordering and getting their drinks/food within 10 minutes or at least more timely than my table. Now I dont know if this celebrity owns the place or is a regular, but I dont think that should affect how the rest of the restaurant gets treated.I want to mention this is a small restaurant on a Wednesday night with plenty of staff on hand. Disappointed in the lack of consistency of service. Food and cocktails were delicious and filling and redemptive enough to not make the night a completely negative experience.

2021-11-08Just okay. Vegan options were plentiful, but lack luster. Had the veggie roll, seaweed salad and Vegan Ramen. Ramen had great presentation but was utterly tasteless. Veggie rolls tasted like just rice rolled up. Not even sure what was in the middle. Seaweed salad was actually my favorite. The Dressing was delicious, tasted like a ceasar dressing. A+ for atmosphere if you like a chill hipster vibe. Octo-ball cocktail was so strong I could hardly drink it. Old fashioned was very good. I’d love if they switched up the menu and offered different dishes or specials.

2022-04-16Amazing time at 8arm!! Our server was so sweet (Duvi) & everyone who works here is just gorgeous. The food & drinks came out quick & were creative & delicious. The atmosphere & decor are super tasteful. If I lived in Atlanta I’d be here all the time.

2022-06-28My work wife first took me to this restaurant. I loved it so much that I returned a month later with my husband. The sushi is divine. The drinks are carefully crafted.

2022-06-06The food was okay at best. We got some salmon sashimi and some hand rolls. The wait staff was nice enough but a little inattentive-- They kind of just forgot about our table until the bill. We also got drinks and they were very subpar.

2022-06-29Quaint location. The staffs unobtrusive attentiveness allows for a pleasant dining experience. The chef has curated a number of deliciously curious taste combinations.
