OMG, THE RATINGS ARE PUT ON HERE BY THE OWNERS FAMILY, AND THE PICTURES ARE FAKE, DONT BE FOOLED.....the service was bad, never offered refill of water, forgot to bring me hush puppies and they were cold like the fish, my fish was cooked in old oil and the manager got mad because he had to make it over. They charged me for okra and then they tell me they ran out but did give me a refund. The fish is cooked with no taste to it at all, This Place I s Horrible!!! BUYER BEWARE
Been here about three times due to convince. However, third time, service wasn’t as it had been. Shrimp wasn’t cleaned and we had pounds of it. Wait time is ridiculously long, waitress is obviously underpaid and over worked, she wasn’t necessarily friendly she seemed frustrated or something. Also, as a Miami native, this place attracts me but, in Miami we like steamed seafood. Steamed crabs with butter, ole bay and garlic hint hint. We love steamed shrimp in Dade, since this place has ‘miami’ outside Of their setup, please consider the real Miami with steamed seafood as well. Reduce the wait time by increasing your staff? Also in Miami, snow crabs are always on sale somewhere ($8.00 lb, etc). Our bill was extremely high. Prices are a bit much and I’m not a cheapskate.
Albany Fish Company is the reason you go to Albany. Amazing people who treats you like family, and the seafood is best in the country. Get the Irene. You never had something so bold and nuanced. Sorry to show off but I do at a lot of fine dining and they have nothing on AFC.
This place is amazing. The food was so delicious. My boyfriend and I shared the Irene. Two pounds of crab legs, pound of shrimp, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and corn. I never seen so many shrimp lol. The sauce it is cooked in tasted soooo good. We also had the crab claws that were delicious. Lastly the peach mimosa were strong and great. We will definitely be back!
Took over an hour to get our food even tho we used door dash to order online before hand and they let me sit for over an hour before asking if they could help us. Very under staffed and the fish tasted like I was drinking lake water but the one star is for the crunchy breading on the fish because although everything else was horrible At least it was fried good.
This was my first visit to this restaurant. After hearing great reviews, I wanted to try it. I ordered the fish and grits. It wasnt anything special. Im not in any hurry to go back.Went back today, 3-15-22 gave me undercooked tilapia. I specifically asked for them to fry it crispy but instead its not done. I really keep trying to support this family but wow.
Elevated food in an unpretentious atmosphere. Could have eaten nothing but brussel sprouts. Be advised, go in fish market to order & pay for dinner, sans alcohol. Then go out and enter the patio area next door, to seat,& be served when food is ready. Beer & wine available here.
Tonight was my first night eating at AFC and everything about it was amazing! The food was DELICIOUS and although they were short staffed they never let it break their spirit. They were informative of the menu and their positive energy made the experience that much more enjoyable. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal! We have already made plans with our friends to come back next weekend!
All associates were very nice and friendly. This place is on the opposite end of the spectrum from a 5 star restaurant so dont come dressed for a candle lit dinner. The food is good however I found my scallops, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli to be extremely salty and sour. I assume they drizzled vinegar over top just before serving. For this reason it was hard to get it down and unpleasant but I consumed it anyway. Not sure if Ill go back but if I do Ill be sure to ask them to refrain from any extra toppings/seasonings. FYI - they do offer a military discount 👍
This place came highly recommended. I drove from Orlando, Fl, and AFC did not disappoint. The portion was huge, hot and fresh. The tarter sauce and cole slaw was amazing. I had the Swamp platter and this was my first time eating gator! It was delicious. We are already planning on our next trip here!! Thank you!!
Oh my word- SO DELICIOUS! We were in Albany for a concert and decided to give this place a shot. The owner and staff were very friendly and answered any questions we had about the menu extensively. HIGHLY recommend getting the gator tail appetizer. My six year old brother told the owner when we were finished eating This is way better than Captain Ds! If that helps any 😂
My son took me to lunch and I wanted Alligator and shrimp. My son suggested Albany Fish place. I had the Gator/Shrimp Poboy with fries. Thes sandwich was great fries were wonderful. The dining area needs some improvement. I had to move twice because my chair kept sliding down hill, and dead bugs and water underneath the table. Other than that the area was cool and nat free.
This is the second time I have been there. The first time, the food was good, the service was good, business was booming! Went tonight, the oysters sucked, no saltine crackers, no horse radish, the fried gator was over cooked and hard, and didnt know we had a waiter, never seen them.
I moved to Albany from Savannah 5 years ago. Savannah sets the seafood bar pretty high and AFC is the ONLY place I have found in Albany that 100% delivers. The food is quality, well seasoned and perfectly prepared. Great atmosphere and good prices. Try the Irene the Dream, you won’t be disappointed.
This place is so wonderful! The staff is so friendly you feel like they are family. Coming from Florida this was the perfect place to stop and feel like you’re in the south! Plays great music and the food is AMAZING. I had the grouper sandwich and it was delicious, the Brussels sprouts were awesome as well, definitely would come back.
Extensive menu & friendly service. Table service is great. Gator was seasoned & fried just right; however, it and my grits were cold (cheese wouldnt even melt) when I got them. Looking forward to trying something else next time. Hopefully the poor temperature was just a one-time thing.
Way Overpriced for what you get, but food is seasoned well and fresh. Older Woman/Order Taker was rude, but waitress was friendly. My PO-Boy only had 4 medium shrimp and 2 fried oysters. Bread was really tough to bite through. Eat here if you want Chain restaurant quality at 4* prices. Would have been 3* if not for the rudeness.
In town visiting customers today. Asked a customer for a recommendation on lunch, he says Albany Fish Company is pretty good. Im here now, just finished a grouper sandwich. Pretty good? This place is fantastic. The staff is amazing, extremely nice and welcoming. The atmosphere is great and the food, wow. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!
The seafood is the best. Prices are sort of high. This would be a 5 stars but a woman in her 70 year old around keeps walking around the restaurant and letting everyone know that she is the owner. She is annoying and should show some class and tact. People are hungry and just want to eat. No one cares who she is. She doesnt cook or work in the restaurant. Just walks around the restaurant. Takes a long time for your drinks and food to be served but the cook makes special orders for you.
So glad I found this family owned restaurant! I saw the great reviews about this place so decided to give it a try and Im so happy I did. I had fresh grilled grouper with grilled vegetables and was thoroughly impressed with how well seasoned and cooked everything was. The fish was perfect! Seating is limited, so get there early because it filled up quickly. Service was great too!
My wife and I have been interested in trying this place and we are so glad we finally did. We decided to split the Swamp Box between us to get a taste of almost everything they fix. The platter came with so much on it, we feel that we needed 2 more people to help us. The wonderful lady that took care of us during our visit was a delight to talk to and found out that it was my wifes birthday, so she topped off our feast with desert. My wife had a slice of Key Lime pie, which is her favorite, and it was delicious. I was served a Carmel cheesecake that was out-of-this-world good! We will definitely be back and make this our go-to seafood place!
A local recommended that I visit if I wanted to have some good seafood. Visited two days in a row! The staff was very professional, polite, and quick. I ordered the shrimp n oysters meal both days. It was excellent. I also had the cheese grits. They were tasty also. If you want a good drink, try out the peach mimosa. You wont be dissapointed.
I love the food! Especially the fish. The environment is welcoming and fun. The owner treats everyone like family as well. It is also located in a pretty nice spot. This is the first time I have been here and I enjoyed my stay. The only thing that bothered me was how long it took to get the food. I guess it is because I ordered alot. I recommend this place! ♡♡♡♡♡
Quaint back-porch style seafood restaurant. All of the food was very well prepared. Seasoning wasnt too heavy, cooked just long enough. Fried stuff was lightly battered, not greasy. Cole slaw was sweet, with a touch of tanginess. Everything except the french fries (not a big deal) down to the dipping sauces was homemade and well worth the wait. With only 6 tables inside and 3 outside, come early. Friendly staff greeted us and treated us like friends and family. Service was not fast, but accurate and considerate. Homemade sangria and white wine spritzers were very well made with balanced fruity flavor, and they packed a good punch, too. They serve a few beers & wines, but the sangria and spritzer were the stars. No liquor, but the selection fits the concept and space. It is reasonably priced from $13-20, with a limited menu based on what has been freshly caught. Highly recommended.
We left Southern Florida for Texas this morning. We mapped our route by way of Albany to have lunch at the Albany Fish Company. What a disappointment to find that they went fishing at 3:00 and were not open.We will not be visiting Albany Fish Company again, knowing that we may find it closed during regular hours. Cannot afford to drive that far out of our way to find the doors locked.Very disappointing, since my wife has been looking forward to this meal for a week.
Came to Albany for business and I’m already planning a family trip back just to eat here again. The online reviews don’t lie - the food here is fantastic, with the atmosphere a close second to the food: friendly, kind, welcoming. Feels like your eating at a family reunion cookout, not at a chain restaurant. Thank you for the great experience!
Absolutely love this place! You can pick what fish you want and how you want it cooked. Service is quick and the people are great. This is my go-to seafood place in Albany. The platters can be a great deal and a lot of food.Personally I love getting a whole fish fried!
We came here by accident with our tire flattening, within twenty minutes we had Alerted the business and had help otw. Being that we were there, we decided to patronize and eat and drink there, but not before the owner came out and chastised our roadside assistance. Long story short we spent over fifty dollars on a business that didn’t want our money. The food was horrible, I guess bc he was mad; salmon burnt, conch smelled rancid and grouper sandwich unseasoned, calamari fried with cornmeal... worst experience. Waste of money
We had quite a wait for dine in . The food did not come out all together. It was COLD/WARM - the flavor was good. It just seem like it sat on a counter or something before eating. I don’t live in the area so I likely won’t be back BUT .... try your luck they seem to have great reviews.
I dont understand the reviews Ive read. They must have happened before the pandemic or they never purchased raw fish. I did and I never will again. I wouldnt even purchase the cook food. The raw fish I purchase were very huge! When I got home and prepared to cook them I discovered that they did not completely clean the fish. I had to get my husband to gut the fish. The yellowtail snapper had a very LOUD fish odor. The mullet fell apart as my husband attempted to gut them. I did not purchase the fileted fish because it looked yellow and old. I wouldnt purchase the cooked food because there was only one person cooking and he was also the one cleaning the fish. He did not wear his mask properly and there were flies flying around.
A true Hole In The Wall joint with a twist! I thoroughly enjoyed lunch here. Everyones food was delicious and served piping hot as its prepared to order. The Red Snapper was especially amazing!! The wait staff was observant and provided great service. The twist is, order your food on one side and seating is available next door (where they do that at!!!). This experience requires repetition!!
We are in Albany for a funeral from another state . We found this restaurant online with good reviews. My hubby and I decided to give it a try. I tell ya we were highly satisfied. The food was superb and the customer service was phenomenal. This restaurant will definitely be one of our eateries whenever we visit Albany!
We had the special today...talapia and shrimp chose grilled. It was ah-mazing! Great seasoning, right temp, delicious! Dont let the counter ordering and outside dining hold you back...the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. Great place to dine with friends or a date!
Great dining experience and the owner went the extra mile to accommodate my special needs son and his wheelchair. Delicious food and my family is looking forward to returning!! Gonna try the Low Country Boil next visit. I saw it being delivered to a few other patrons and was envious. Lol
I was in Albany for business purposes. I called my order in as I was preparing to travel back home. When I went in, 30 minutes later, they had about 5 people standing in the kitchen and had not even started my order. The grits and sweet potato fries were great but the fish had no seasoning or taste. I was a bit disappointed, especially since I waited for them to prepare my order after failing to do so when I called it in.
Me and my friend had the sea food dinner! Very Good! Out standing leadership! Dashia took over when we didnt know how to order!!! Much love to the whole staff... Our server was very understanding and patient!!! She was a heavy set black woman with great communication skills... We love the music!!! With all the problems we had going on that day. When we left it took a load off to come unwind!!!! Going back today!!!! Shout out to me and my friend from Warwick Ga! Erica and kesha friendship over 16 years! Nothing but God’s grace and mercy!
Albany Fish Co went up a notch today. Had the grade A tuna, grilled, tonight. Outstanding. Best flavor and texture I ever had. Had been getting the catfish on my previous visits. Ive tried most of the seafood places in Albany. This place is the best. If I could give it more than 2 thumbs up, I would. Brussel Sprouts and Spinach as the sides were good too. Keep up the good work!
My husband and I heard of this place from some friends and wanted to try it out so we order our dinner on the phone with a lady because they were closing at 9 on this Saturday and we didnt want to be rushed eating so we ordered Togo we ordered crab legs a whole cat fish fries and cheese grits. When we got there to pick up the lady was kind and got our order to us we drove home 30 minutes from Albany fish company to find we didnt get our cheese grits we got about 7 fries and the worst part is the fish wasnt cooked all the way it was still raw. I called as soon as we realized all this and the place was already close. I called again when they opened back up on Tuesday but they just hung up on me. Well lets just say that we wasnt happy
Based on all the great reviews on this site I thought I’d give it a try. You people who give this any more than 3 stars are nuts. I ordered blackened grouper that was cooked to death and tasted like I salt lick. Horrible. You eat in a screen porch that smells like a high school locker room. Possibly the worst meal I’ve ever ordered. I give it two stars only because I only ate one thing (actually ate like 1/4 of it). They may have better things but the smell is the same regardless of what you order.
This place is in the mid price range and they have quality seafood to show for it. On thing that really impressed me though wasnt a fish dish but these cheese fries they serve which is a whole to go box of fries in a lake of cheese sauce. I was in love from first order 💜💜💜
Slap your mama in the mouth, thats how good this place is!! We had it all, the Oyster Rockefeller was unbelievable, piled high and as fresh as tomorrow..The Catfish, oh man, this is just how it should be, they could teach a class on frying catfish at Cordon Bleu even... The frog legs are still jumping through my mind. Albany fish company, it has been a month and 10thousand miles, but how I wish you were next door... People, Go out of the way to come here...
The host was nothing less than suberb as he treated every guess with special attention sure to make you feel welcomed and come again . He carried a warm smile and one of his personal goals is to make sure each customer enjoy a laugh and a smile. He was certainly a Madre in every aspect. The quality and quantity of food was very good. Good appearance is a cut above most seafood places in town
Never had any problems until May 30, 2018. Owner cursed me out and called me broke in front of customers and employees, because I was $5 short. Going back to get more funds for my purchase wouldn’t have been a problem, but the way I was treated as a customer and a human being was unacceptable, unnecessary and embarrassing.
Ive been frequenting this local spot for the last two months or so. I always had a good experience but when I went there after a long day at work one Saturday evening, things were a little different.Firstly, it was homecoming weekend, so the place was semi-packed (at least it was during my late-afternoon/early evening visit), however, the regular routine of just walking into the restaurant to place my order, pay and wait, was disrupted and I had to walk outside to a table and place my order for a fried shrimp snack (snicker). With music blasting all around us, I had to speak a little louder so the old folks could hear me bellow-out my order. They still need assistance, so they beckoned for one of the managers for help. This young man made an unwarranted snide remark in regards to the matter of the confusion (snicker) between myself ordering the fried shrimp snack, which is normally twelve shrimp with fries, and having the old folks place an order for two 6 pc. snacks. I didnt mind that; my quarrel is with the managers coy remark, 6 and 6 is twelve, right...It might seem petty to some, but I do believe that no customer should be talked to in such a manner. Be busy (snicker) is no excuse for such treatment, especially when Im paying nearly $20 for a snack (snicker), and instead, Im getting insulted by Southwest Georgias take on Fat Albert.Myself and this manager later on had a short talk over the phone. He was reluctantly apologetic, however, real quick to state that the work environment is family-oriented and fun--and understandably so--yet, one should exercise caution whenever youre joking around (snicker) with people [read: customers] when youre conducting business.
This place opens up at 11 am I pulled up at 11 10am the doors are locked. A lady opens the doors and says place order in the next building, then turns around locks the door. I then proceed to the next building and a man with gold and silver teeth un locks the door and sticks his head out and says it will be 15 to 25 minute before we could place our order. Then turns around and locks the door. I have never eaten at this place and now never will, terrible customer service and extremely rude employees.
People really hyped this place up it was not what I was expecting, and the prices are ridiculous and it’s probably because it’s the only spot like that in Albany. I won’t be returning I ordered the pan that came with crab legs, shrimp and supposed to be craw fish but I didn’t have any crawfish and my shrimp weren’t cleaned. That’s disgusting. But y’allCan keep going there
Moved here from Miami and my reason for coming to eat here was the pictures on Facebook. I oderdor the fried catfish fries and got hush puppies it was HORRIBLE NOT FRESH BURNT I WAS SO MAD BECAUSE I WASTED MY MONEY IF I WOULDVE KNOWN I WOULDVE BROUGHT FISH FROM WALMART AND FRIED IT MYSELF I HATE THIS PLACE I NEVER AND WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN

2021-12-18Roosevelt burger (veggie) tasted amazing, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if someone gave me this and told me it was a beef burger. It is so flavorful, very tender, very juicy, overall I am satisfied. It had mixed bell peppers and tomatoes & mozzarella cheese on the veggie burger itself. Definitely would try it again 10/10. I have had the alligator bites, the fried catfish sandwhich, and just plain fried catfish, fried whiting, so far everything is great. The only downside is when I call to place the order I usually get a very rude person taking my order. Just wish they had a little more courteous to their customers. Other than that it’s always really good food.

2021-04-01The food here is absolutely fantastic and the staff is top notch. You have to order and pay at the counter then walk outside to get to the dining area. The prices are on the high side of other comparable seafood restaurants in the area. It was raining when we arrived and the metal roof in the dining room made it impossible to speak to each other because it was so loud. Ill be returning to try more of the menu items.

2022-06-26Every element cooked to perfection. Blackened shrimp, broccoli, fried plantains. My wifes red potatoes, fried okra and fried grouper. Friendly staff. Had the dining room to ourselves. What more could you ask for?

2020-02-18This is a great place. I come to the area for work and had heard about this place a few times. I finally had a chance to visit and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! Definitely go if you get the chance. The line can get ling but moves along quickly and the prices are fair.

2022-06-28They have a great vegan cheesesteak. Granted, it is nothing like a cheesesteak, but it is tasty.

2019-06-13Delicious and fresh sea food with a nice local environment. You have to choose your fish from their fish market and then they will cook it for you. I had a Dinner Grouper and it was delicious. Also we had oysters for appetizers and they were just marvelous.

2021-11-12After trying just about every seafood restaurant in Albany, (and being sorely disappointed) I finally found THE BEST!! I had the fried grouper sandwich and cheese grits and they were both delicious! The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly! The grits were creamy with good flavor. I think they were the best I’ve ever had honestly. Seriously better seafood than we got in Florida last month. Will definitely be back!

2019-08-11Everyone kept telling me to try the Albany Fish Company, but when drove up I was a little skeptical. This is definitely a, dont judge a book by its cover, scenario. Hush puppies were great, food was delicious and the service was awesome!
