The owners live a few steps away in a separate single family home and are available to their guests at any time. The home is meticulously maintained and charming. This B&B offers every possible treat, snack or beverage all day. We stayed upstairs in a nice room with a comfy king size bed and a small balcony. It was quiet and well air conditioned. Parking couldnt be more convenient. The morning breakfast was very special, everything homemade and served in individual courses. Fresh fruit, real maple syrup, multiple juices, coffees, teas, pretty much anything that one might want. The area has a neat small town charm and displays wonderful natural beauty. Too bad that it is 2000 miles from where I live or I would be a regular visitor.
My wife and I needed a place to stay in Americus, Georgia while visiting the nearby Andersonville POW camp and Jimmy Carter Birthplace Park -- both of which are well worth visiting. We stayed at the Americus Garden Inn B&B and it couldnt have been better. The B&B is a beautiful 1847 antebellum pre-Civil war mansion. We stayed in the Scarlett room which was spacious, comfortable and elegant. A painting of Scarlett OHara hanging on the wall, of course. Big flat screen TV. Couch. Huge bath tube. The breakfast -- in this age of little to no breakfast provided -- was superior. A beautiful garden on the grounds. Susan, the hostess, was charming and engaging. Id have to say this was the best B&B weve ever stayed in and weve stayed in a few.
Thank you, Susan and Kim, for having us! What a joy to stay at your lovely Inn. You made us feel like family. We had a wonderful sojourn in your terrific B & B. This being our first-time visiting Americus, we thoroughly enjoyed all the surrounding areas you both suggested visiting. It was a lovely time at breakfast, and we enjoyed our chatting with you both at length about a host of topics. Both of you made great recommendations on where to go and what to see. We especially enjoyed eating the Peanut Butter ice cream in Plains, GA. Thank you also, for going out of your way to prepare something for us to take on the road as we were traveling further north on our day of departure! We strongly encourage other travelers who are in this section of Georgia to stay at the Americus Garden Inn.
I stayed at the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast for four weeks while on business in Sumter County. Excellent bed and breakfast with excellent location near downtown Americus. The entire home is extremely clean & comfortable. Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed by the friendly owners, Kim and Susan. They both made my stay more interesting with advice & tips about the city, supermarkets, shops, and restaurants. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to everybody! Its a true sample of excellent hospitality. Thank you again Susan and Kim for going the extra mile!
The Americus Garden Inn & Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay that gives you a feeling of being at home. The decor and super comfortable beds are just what you need to rest like a baby after a long business day or a day of visiting in Americus. The home owners can help you with everything from local suggestions depending upon your taste to directions to where youre going to travel to. They are very awesome hosts who want your stay to be memorable and pleasant. I hope you enjoy your visit as much I did. Ill gladly go back again and I hope you will too.
My fiance and I stayed at Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast, Saturday January 5th. Our experience was great as this was both of our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast. Mr. Kim and Mrs. Susan were very nice. We both enjoyed hearing the history of Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast. The breakfast was very delicious. Ms. Susan made sure to accommodate us in every way possible. Example I have gestational diabetes and Ms. Susan made sure I had whole wheat muffins and whole wheat pancakes with sugar free syrup. As there was sugar free candy in my room. We stayed in the Burgundy Suite and it was very nice. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. All I can say is I had a great experience. I would definitely recommend staying at Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast. I thank Mr. Kim and Mrs. Gwen for their hospitality.
We stayed here on sept. 23 2019 and absolutely loved it. Susan is such a wonderful hostess, and we really enjoyed talking with her. The house, interior and gardens are beautiful, and our room was so big and comfortable, we enjoyed every minute of it. Breakfast is beyond words, refinded, fresh and made with so much love!Americus is a charming little town, and if you have the chance donβt miss a visit to the farm where Jimmy Carter grew up.
My wife and I spent the night here while visiting our son. The hospitality and accommodations are fantastic. Kim and Susan make everyone feel like family and the other guests are introduced as friends you havenβt met yet. The whole atmosphere is one of quiet comfort and congeniality. The breakfast deserves its own review. Susan is an excellent cook and serves three courses for breakfast. You may enjoy all three, or pick and choose your preferences. We will be visiting again anytime we have occasion to be in Americus.Edited to add: This is not a walk up establishment...you mist reserve in advance.
Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast is an elegant, historic yet comfortable and most friendly property. The accommodations are perfectly appointed and ours suited our limited mobility being on the first floor, having a shower with grab bars and comfy wing chairs for watching TV. Breakfast was prepared and served by Susan, the Innkeeper, who delighted us with several delicious courses including wonderful baked muffins and scones, egg dishes and light and fluffy pancakes. We lingered to enjoy her knowledge of the history and culture during the civil war era and the history of the magnificent 1847 house we were sharing during our visit. Being in the house that also saw the years of Civil War enhanced our visit to the Andersonville sites. A beautiful experience at the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast.
Wife and I stayed for a quick get away from the kiddos when celebrating our anniversary. Where to start? Location is great the room was fantastic. The home is beautiful and the history riveting. The home and hosts make you feel at home and comfortable. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay from strolling the garden area to resting on the property. The linens on the bed are the softest sheets I have ever felt. Breakfast was filling, delicious, and attractively plated. We found ourselves lingering as we departed engaged in conversation with fellow guests and the hosts.10 stars out of 5. Dont hesitate book now.
We had a wonderful experience. Kim and Susan are such gracious hosts. They thought of everything! The rooms are immaculate and beautifully appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were up one morning at 4:30 a.m. to viait Jimmy Carters Sunday School Class and they provided a wonderful to go breakfast. Definitely an experience in itself.
Ive traveled around the world and have rarely been met by the hospitality that Susan and Kim extend. Giving special thought to allergies, preferences, and celebrations they are beyond compare!I was traveling alone for my birthday and they made the stay memorable to say the least! I honestly would travel back to rural Georgia again JUST to stay here. The three course breakfast was a first for me. I learned what a difference pre-warming your coffee mug does, too! They gave me spot on recommendations of places to visit while in the area and my only regret is not staying longer so I could come back and share the results of my many adventures with them!Im writing this review 5 months later because its been quite a busy season but my stay with them was THAT memorable. Ive already recommended this gem to friends.
Americus Garden Inn played a big part in making our trip to Plains, Ga. a memorable one. Susan and Kims home is not only beautiful, but comfortable and spacious, not lacking in anything their guests might need. Their breakfast was delicious and their guidance and knowledge of the community helped us so much with the choices we made. We would definitely stay there again and look forward to the next time.
This is a superb bed and breakfast. Charming hosts, beautiful rooms, and superb food. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was wonderfully quiet and safe as well, which made for a relaxed, replenishing visit. Thank you Susan and Kim for all your hard work, your sensational food and kindness toward your guests. Lovely!
Susan and Kim are wonderful hosts. Extremely knowledgeable of the area and history. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast are fantastic and have a unique presentation. The coffee is from a special selection and grind for the inn and is supperb.Lynda and I look forward to visiting here again.
The property is pretty and close to several restaurants for dinner. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Our room was on the ground floor, it was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were too, the sheets were awesome,so soft, i believe you could purchase some thru the owner. The food for breakfast was fresh and tasty and they went out of their way to create a meal according to food issues that you might have. The only suggestion we would have is taller toilets and / or grab bars, for long legged people its a long way down.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Americus Garden Inn for our anniversary! Kim and Susan, the owners, are wonderful hosts; some of the most genuine and gracious people we have ever met. They strive to provide their guests a memorable stay. That was evident as soon as we parked. Kim greeted us at our vehicle to assist in carrying in our bags. He also helped us carry our bags upstairs to our room where we found a Congratulations banner hanging over our door.We stayed in the Scarlett Room. We found the room quite comfortable and more than adequate. The love seat and recliner were great for relaxing. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a tub and shower. There are several attractions within an easy 15-20 minute drive; Plains, GA and The Jimmy Carter historic site, Andersonville National Historic Site, Andersonville Civil War Village, the Rylander theater and the rest of downtown Americus.
First time we ever stayed at a bed and breakfast. It was wonderful, the owners were great. They made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. It was quiet and super comfy for sleeping. Everything was clean. The breakfast was amazing, started with coffee and muffins, then had grapefruit and a choice of juice. Then we had banana wheat pancakes with egg and cheese fatatas. It was all served at the right temps and we were not rushed it any way. We will try to go back and stay more then one night. That would be our only complaint, we did not stay long enough. Loved it!
From the moment of our arrival to the minute that we left, we could not have asked for a better experience. Kim and Susan are the best hosts ever!! The attention to detail goes unmatched with anything I ever experienced. This was our first trip to a B&B, and we were there to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary (also this trip was a surprise to me from my wife). Kim greeted me by name as soon as I stepped out of the car...which was an awesome touch. We also had a tour of the house as well being told the historical aspects, which was quite interesting. Our room was decorated for the occasion, which was a really nice touch. The breakfast was amazing. I must note that it was catered to our likes and allergies (as I have a few). The room was comfortable and he overall experience was top notch. I am looking forward to coming back soon. Any other B&B will have to meet to bar that was set by the Americus Garden Inn. Thank you Kim and Susan for an awesome experience!!

2022-06-15Our stay at Americus was our first B&B experience and it was great! We booked the Jacuzzi Suite and it was very enjoyable and relaxing. Susan is very detailed on cleanliness and Im big on cleanliness so I appreciated that. The sheets on the bed are wonderful nice and soft. Susan also caters to your breakfast needs which made breakfast enjoyable and special. Susan is a kind hearted person and very hospitable! Her and her husband work hard to maintain their wonderful B&B home. You will definitely enjoy the experience if you stay at Americus B&B. π

I met some other wonder guests during my stay during the breakfast (which is cooked fresh and delicious!). It was quiet, close to the hospital, and I recommend anyone looking for an authentic bed and breakfast experience to stay at this bed and breakfast! You will not regret it!

2022-02-13My wife and I drove up to GA to check out Providence Canyon, which was very pretty, but who knew that this little gem would be the stand out of our trip! The charm and warmth of this B&B was perfectly met by the charm and warmth of Susan and Kim, and what a breakfast! 5 star experience in every regard. Donβt hesitate to book, the Scarlett Room is a must, but Iβm sure you canβt go wrong with any of them. Bring the highest of expectations, as youβll still be impressed.John and Kailyn

2022-05-30Wonderful stay!! Susan and Kim went out of they way to make us feel like we were home and help us celebrate our anniversary. The accommodations were perfect (the bed comfy, the sitting area perfect for relaxing). Breakfast was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Each morning Susan and Kim provided culinary delights that made for a great start to our day. They also provided insights to events and things to do as well as places to eat. We cant wait to return!

2022-03-16This was a fabulous weekend getaway. The setting is an elegant and well-restored victorian style mansion/house with beautiful gardens and cozy atmosphere. We stayed in the room with a jetted tub, which was a nice addition to the decor of the room. The innkeepers are fun, interactive, and full of life experience. Their breakfast was amazing and was a solid temptation to extend the stay. They do not use cell phones, so be sure to keep to the scheduled arrival time and texting will not reach them. There is ongoing restoration to some of the older areas, so I anticipate it looking better with each visit.

2021-11-22The best Bed & Breakfast experience I ever had. The house is beautifully located, very quiet, and full of history (which you can hear all about after checking in if you want to). There are little touches in every corner that make your stay really special. And the attention to detail by Susan and Kim is outstanding. They really go above and beyond. You will get a comfortable stay and a decent breakfast in many places. But this one is different. The breakfast is a feast. And they dont only give you recommendations on what to see or where to eat, no, they will want to get to know you, so they can fine tune their attention exactly to your liking. They will respect your privacy if desired, or they will engage in a deep conversation about pretty much anything with you, not shying away from difficult topics. You come as a guest and you leave as a friend.

2022-05-18The hosts are the loveliest people who go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and cared for. The breakfasts were amazing and could be written up in Southern Living! The home is beautifully decorated and the gardens are lush! We plan to come v back again.

2022-07-02I donβt know how this is has received so many 5 star reviews. I think weβre being generous with 3.The positives: the breakfast is delicious, the dining room always has drinks and snacks out and the inside of the inn is clean. The not so positive: the outside of the inn is very poor shape (see photos). The inn keepers mentioned SEVERAL times of all the projects they were doing but never saw any work being done in 3 days. The non-antique chairs in the room need replacement. There is no comfortable sitting. The decor/wallpaper could use updating. In my opinion itβs more 1980s than 1880s.
