We decided to have breakfast here this morning on our daughters recommendation and it was incredible! Food, especially the biscuits were delicious! The customer service was excellent! And we all went back for dinner and it was some of the best BBQ weve ever had! I wish I had taken photos from dinner! This place 8s amazing!
We had the ribs (baby back) and while tasty and real wood smoked, we prefer spare ribs from a traditional smoke house. We were greatly disappointed in the poor service. We attribute that to everyone has a bad day. The real star here is the building itself. The owner has done a great job in creating a homey feel.
We were getting a gate across the street at Cherokee Feed & Seed and decided to stop by on a recommendation from staff at the store. I love great BBQ, so why not. I loved the old building and antiques that were scattered around the restaurant. The wood burning stove felt great on this cold winter night. The food was just, Okay. The service was exceptional. And the only problem with the atmosphere was the tv in the corner that was tuned to the Flintstones and the volume was loud enough that you couldn’t ignore it. I thought I’d be able to sit and chat with my wife, but we just sat and ate dinner while watching Fred & Barney.
Highly recommend! The meat is always juicy and delicious. I always get a stuffed tater but ask for fries as my base. Its basically loaded fries with meat, bbq sauce, cheese, sour cream and ranch. Extremely delicious. Staff is always very friendly. And they have a very convenient drive-thru
Im giving this place a 5 star rating. After doing a lil Christmas shopping and on my way home I seen the sign. Now, Ive been looking for some good BBQ because the couple of spots in my home town doesnt have good BBQ, thats my opinion. But this place is so good. I had the pull beef sandwich with fries, and when I tell u its so tender it melts in youre mouth and the BBQ sauce they put on it. They should sell it in a grocery store. I will stop back in if Im every in this town again
Our first time and will be our last time. We stopped at this place on our back to the house from visiting a outlet mall. This place is a very old place but that not the problem. The service wasnt bad but they were not the cleanest staff and it felt very dirty. They also have cats outside of their restaurant and one staff told me that the cat sleeps inside of the restaurant at night.
Hidden little gem. What a little surprise, seating area inside is small but you can sit outside or use the drive-thru. To be honest I did not know it had a drive-thru until I accidentally stepped on the hose and rang their bell. While we ate inside many people used the drive up.Staff was very friendly, they have some cats that were outside but only Jimmy was theirs and they kept on eye on him to make sure he was fed. It was fun watching these young men run the restaurant, taking care of folks and making the food.Too bad we missed breakfast, well have to get there a little earlier next time. Check it out. Good BBQ sauce.
Great atmosphere, excellent food overall. This was our first trip here with another couple after a trip to Gibbs Gardens. We all ordered stuffed potatos and a side of onion rings for all to share, a side of fried okra and baked beans.Lets get the bad out of the way first.1) The potatoes were cool in the center. They were properly cooked, just cool. They should have been warmer. The stuffings were warm enough.2) The onion ring order seemed small for the $4.99 charge. They cost almost 3x a side of beans or okra. Now for the good:In spite of the two items above, everything tasted GREAT!1) LOTS of bbq on top of the potato along with a dollop of sour cream. The bbq was very good. I had pork.2) while there could have been more onion rings, what we had were very good. They were hot enough. When you bit into them, you got a good crunch and bit all the way through the onion, without dragging the rest of the onion out of the batter.3) while I am not an okra fan, these were crispy and did not have that okra slime factor.4) the baked beans had a good flavor with bits of meat mixed in.5) The bbq sauce is some of the best I have tasted. Not too sweet, not vinegary not too hot.6) the atmosphere was great. Lots of old fashioned memorabilia inside and out.We Will be back the next time we go to Gibbs Gardens in May.
Absolutely one of my favorite BBQ places in GA, I never pass on an opportunity to grab something to eat when Im passing by for work.If pulled pork is one of your guilty pleasures, do yourself a favor and swing by - utterly delicious and very tender.Very at home feeling, assuming youre from the south and even if youre not its like taking a step back in time, whats not to love. 😊
Our first visit yesterday. We drove past many times but; this time we had to stop. The smell from the smoker will draw you in. Friendly and attentive service. We ordered the pork platter. I had the fried okra and delicious mac and cheese. It was was so good. Plus, you get so much food. Husband said the pork was out of this world. Very moist and flavorful. The stew was loaded. Highly Recommended! We cant wait to to go back!
Was driving by and smelled the smoker out front. Smelled so good I turned around. First time there and wasnt disappointed. Mac and cheese was piping hot and tater salad was nice a cold, made totally different than Ive ever had but was great. Only thing is they were out of sweet tea ,!.
I LOVE this place. I pre-order biscuits here often and every time someone answers the phone- theyre super nice. When you get there- theyre super nice. When you leave- theyre super nice. Whoever is hiring these people, good for you and you need a pat on your back! Just the friendly service keeps me coming back. Other than that, their food is amazing and it comes at a good price. Definitely my go-to place.
Randomly stumbled across this bbq place, it looked so good we literally turned our car around to go to it- we weren’t even looking for food! It did not disappoint. Meat was really good- we had the ribs and pulled pork and then ended off with some delicious dessert- banana pudding and a top notch brownie. Place was clean (bathroom included), staff friendly and we were happy to see everyone wearing masks - staff and patrons (except when they were eating of course!). Highly recommend- it’s exactly what you’re looking for in an authentic southern bbq experience.
Average brisket, tasteful but nothing to write home about. The mac & cheese was watered down. The pricing is fair for the quality. If you just want an average barbecue meal for a reasonable price this is the place to go.I will say that the sweet tea was spot on, coming from a southern guy I know my sweet tea.
Passed this little eccentric place on a back road from buying a boat...we live 2.5 hrs away but would probably drive back just for this little diamond in the rough..if I could bottle the smells coming from the smoker full of their own hand chopped fire wood. This little place took me back in time when life was simple!..you definitely wanna go on a road trip looking for this little place..and tell them I still want the pig on the toilet in the bathroom:)😂😂😂😂😂
We love coming here for breakfast before we head out on a hike or just to grab a quick bite. We love the outdoor seating are with the picnic tables. It’s a great place for us since we have three kids. Everyone is nice who works there and the food is great. Definitely recommend!
I really wanted to like this place. I have passed it several times a week for the past 4 years and decided to finally give lunch a try. I have had their biscuits before. They are average. Nothing to write home about but will get the job done when you are hungry. The lunch was pretty rough. I got the BBQ pork plate with fries and baked beans. The beans were lackluster. I have had better from a can. Fries were a little salty but pretty good. BBQ was horrid. Meat was mush and flavorless and the sauce had the texture and tasted like it came off the shelf at Kroger. I can eat just about anything when hungry but had to throw this away :(
One of the besthole in the wall BBQ Joint Ive ever been to. Been a few time since, and plan on returning again when Im in the area. Great breakfast biscuits, and really some of the best BBQ Ive had. The folks working there are generally friendly and accommodating, but...a couple of the younger folks, not so much. All in all, Ill be back no matter whos waiting on me
Great atmosphere! For me, a gravel parking lot is the first sign of brilliance and potential. And the huge piles of wood in the adjacent lot, waiting to be fed into the smoker was the next good sign. Some frequent diners inside highly recommended the loaded layered potatoes ( Im at least close on the name). But with fries instead of chopped potatoes. Topped with BBQ, some sauce, ranch dressing, shredded cheese, and sour cream. I tried it and found it a little too sweet for my taste, but I can see how others might rave. I only had a few bites of my friends pulled pork, and it was good. Everyone else got the BBQ sandwiches and those portions were plenty big! The atmosphere and the few tastes I had, tell me I will return. Especially on a day when I venture out to Gibbs Gardens, as its just down the road from there- maybe 10 min away.
The food was ok but the woman in the kitchen was extremely rude because we disturbed her smoke break. She came into the front of the house and yelled at us in front of everyone that our dog was barking in the car. I went to check on him and he was barking at a dog that was in a car parked next to us. However, she was smoking in an area right in front of where our car was parked. She was so rude and belligerent that we just left our food uneaten and will not ever be back!
I love Amos BBQ. Ive been getting food from there for about three years. I only wish I had found this place sooner. It is exactly what a BBQ place should be. It is a bit of a drive but well worth the time. The place is rustic and there are cool antiques to keep me occupied while I wait for the order to be filled. The staff is always courteous. I usually get a rack of ribs and that AMAZING loaded potato. The meat is smoked to perfection. Sometimes we add a side but not always because there is so much food it lasts us two meals. I have never had any issue with quality or quantity. I will be retiring and moving away later this year and Im already starting to grieve my loss.
Small original building right off the road with flair. Good food, fast service, and a fair amount of seating options. I was surprised to see they even have a drive through. Husband likes the pulled pork so much we swing by and grab just the meat by the pound once in a while to bring home.
Disgusting! My husband loves BBQ and I do not, so I usually get a vegetable plate. Most places have tolerable veggies but what I got here was awful. The potato salad was stuffed in a cup and it was dry and mashed, would not have recognized it for potato salad if I had not ask for it. The Baked Beans were also terrible - Canned Van Camps/Campbells would have tasted better.Fried Okra tasted old and the fries, well it was also lousy. Do not know how they stay in business. I would have given them ZERO stars if I could have.
Well, food was great as usual. Weve been coming here for years. Love the BBQ. However the new young lady at the counter couldnt have been more rude. Not just to me but everyone. Shouting out to guests at tables telling them to come to the counter. And she was counting money then handling our food with NO GLOVES. NOT HAPPY, AND WONT BE BACK FOR A WHILE!
Best barbecue I have had in the Ball Ground area. My wife an I ate here for the first time tonight, I had the Baby Back Ribs and my wife had the pulled pork. Both were excellent. The crew here 2as super friendly and welcoming. This is our new BBQ joint. Oh and dont forget the Nanner pudding
I had never been to Amos BBQ before this year, now that I have been two times, I can honestly give this place 5 stars. The food is very good, cute atmosphere and everyone I was in contact with were extremely friendly and patient. Also, as a mom and 2dog owner, the drive-thru window to pick up the order we called in was super convenient !( Patience elaboration: The first time I went inside to order but had never looked at the menu before that, therefore having some questions /being indecisive. The second time I was placing a phone order - menu with pricing available online👏- and my service dropped the call about 4x - they never even once sounded slightly annoyed when I called back.)
Stopped by for breakfast with the family. Very quaint, country food, greasy but that is what is expected. Got a sausage egg and cheese buscuit with hash rounds. All made to order and very good. The old house is the best part. Would like to come back in the summer and sit on the porch for some bbq lunch!
What they get right: smoke flavor. Everything else is kind of a miss. Seating is very limited and the outdoor tables are too high for fully grown adults so good luck getting one of the indoor tables but that comes with a door that slams shut every thirty seconds or so. Dont bother with the up charge for the stew, it tastes like tomatoes steeped in orange juice (or some kind of citrus). The ten dollar salad with pork was pretty sad for being equivalently priced to a plate with two sides. Fried okra was stringy, basically inedible. Ribs tasted great but were unfortunately overcooked so they were tough and heavily on the side of dry. And avoid the kids menu, its as bare bones as it reads. And the BBQ sauce is pretty much just a bag of brown sugar with some ketchup and pepper mixed in, way too sweet. And the tea container was empty every time I tried to fill up my cup and I told them both times that it was empty. But like I said, great smoke flavor so theyre doing that part right if they can avoid overcooking the meats.
Great customer service and you get treated like family! Ive had everything there and I dont have anything to say bad. Very professional and caring. Which is what I love! Try the bbq pork sandwich. I also love how you can choose between three meats (pork, chicken, and beef brisket) I would definitely recommend them to family and friends!!
I ate lunch here with my brother. We have been coming here for years but customer for me goes along way and this time it poor service. Food was good so please dont get this wrong its about the service not the food . This girl is terrible she should be washing dishes not taking care of the people. Very rude not just to just us but everyone that was there while we were eating and Im sure after we left . Not sure when we will be back. Please if u read this before u visit and are treated the same way say something so they can better service.
I got a biscuit from them and it was hard. The next day I went back by the store and was informed that they would not replace the biscuit. When I went to pull off the guy in the window called me a d!€*. When I called and spoke to the manager he apologized and was going to give my number to the owner. The owner has yet to call me back so it must be the norm all people I meet will know this happened and its a shame the food was pretty good.
Finally a genuine dinning experience. I remember when every place to eat wasnt a national brand with franchise locations off every other exit. Mr.swiss in cumming to the sandwich shop at Hammonds crossing; use to be individual chefs cooking their menus. That sense of personality is alive and well at Amos.
Excellent BBQ ribs. Not babybacks bu meaty and tender. Cole slaw was very tasty with minimal mayonnaise. Baked beans were average.Menu is difficult to read due to small print. It is on board behind counter.I got a sample taste of the Brunswick Stew and took a quart home. It was vèry good. The pork sandwich my guest had was very good.Nothing fancy about the decor but the quality and quantity of the food carries the day.
Food was ok. Barbecue was decent, nothing to write home about. Inside tables that were open werent clean even though they werent busy. Home made fries not cooked very well and extremely greasy. But I can check that place off my list of out of the way restraints that I wanted to try.
You know its a real BBQ restaurant when you see a huge woodpile out front and a screened-in outdoor BBQ pit out back.I am a huge fan of chopped pork BBQ, so I have not gotten past that to try their ribs... but the chopped pork is delicious. The sweetness of the sauce complements the smoky flavor of the pork very well. Fries and apple sticks are awesome, and you must have one of their brownies. My one gripe is lately the toast they give you with the pork plate is more like warmed bread, not toast.
If you really want some good barbecue a Misses Barbecue up there on 369 and 372 you take a right on 369 if youre going towards Ball Ground if youre coming from ballground you take a left anyways its some of the best darn barbecue Ive ever had I live in Washington state now and I have a couple times thought about calling up there and ask him if they could send me some barbecue because I know they can so if you want some good barbecue go to Amos BBQ nice country setting with excellent food
Used to go to Amos barbecue and recommend it to everyone i knew until the older woman and big blonde lady behind the counter made rude comments about me.Always tipped well, never caused problems. Will NOT be returning to amos barbecue and neither will any friends or family.Horrible service and have absolutely no idea why I was treated this way.
Well its pretty good bbq, not the best but better then many for sure. Staff was good. I think some the bad reviews compare this to a chain restaurant, when its not at all.Its a small home remodeled at one point to make a bbq joint. If say if they took this food and put it in an updated larger building they could be competing with bigger names like Williams bro.Ill be back for sure. I wouldnt get their fries again tho. And wouldnt recommend them.. pork Sammy was good tho
Youre gonna have to improve your hygiene practices if youre going to get my business. Its no mystery why you only had an 89 health rating posted...If youre going to peel a 6 long wad of trash/hair/fuzz!?! off the bottom of your shoe right before you handle my credit card and brush your hair with your hands, please have the decency to use gloves before using those same bare hands to scoop pickles out of a bowl onto my plate and handle my toast!!!
I am not really sure where to start about this place. My wife had them cater my 40th birthday, which was a surprise for me. She got a verbal quote from the business manager and they told her it would be around $200, which is what she agreed to. They were running behind, about 30 minutes late, when she arrived to pickup the food, so obviously she was in a big hurry. They ran our credit card, and she left with the food. She didnt get a receipt and didnt sign anything. We noticed two days later we were charged almost $400, which is double the verbal price. She emailed the manager for an explanation, and requested a detailed bill (which lacks detail), and was different from what we were charged! My wife tried to reason with the lady but she said she wasnt going to argue and didnt offer any explanation as to why we were charged twice as much. I reported fraudulent charges to our credit card company this evening. I will make sure to post bad review where feasible and inform the 40+ people that were at my party of how company flat out robs people. Hopefully someone will mess up their special event.
This is ok BBQ. Not great, not terrible. The one thing though that determined my relatively low rating is kitchen hygiene. Georgia law requires all fast food preparation (i.e., breakfast biscuits) to be prepared by staff wearing protective gloves. Just this morning I saw a women in the kitchen making my biscuit with her bear hands after touching several kitchen surfaces. Not good. I will go back in the near future and see if they start wearing gloves. If so, Ill modify my rating.

2022-06-18I would have given 5 stars had I not been slapped in the face with the price of a stuffed baked potato doubling while the portion has been decreased. If my boyfriend and I want to share a stuffed baked potato and share a side of okra, $30+.The service has always been amazing. Their food is pretty good. Their fried okra is the best Ive had other than my grandmas.

2022-06-05Went during a busy time and that can be a problem as not many places to sit. The drink machine needs to be moved, where?, who knows because its a small place. :) Nonetheless the staff is very friendly and food was served quickly. We had chopped pork, fries, brunswick stew, and beans. Food is good. Stew is EXACTLY how its supposed to taste! Beans were average. $15 per person to eat.

2022-05-31Always a wonderful place. The people there are fantastic. Great food. The ribs were a little dry for my liking, though they were delicious! We met some friends there and spent a couple of hours.

2022-06-07Yummy barbecue. The fried okra was delicious. Just an old country side of the road restaurant. No frills. Great sweet tea.

2021-03-21Even though this place would be easy to miss as you drive by, you dont want to miss it! The BBQ is delicious! The slaw is good but the potatoe salad is some of the best I have ever had!!!If you are in the area to see Pooles Mill Bridge...you definitely need to grab a bite to eat here!

2021-04-19I love this place. Small home cooked BBQ and sides. The fries are a favorite. They are real potatoes. I had the ribs, lots of meat on them bones! My mac and cheese had real shell pasta and tasty. Some places are just getting too production like in their food presentation. I like when I feel like I at at home. The cool porch is my seating choice. But they had some tables inside in a nice cozy country setting.I also met a friend today, she was nice but she really only wanted to share my plate with me.

2022-06-22Foos is good but online menu says potato is $6.25 and the price has more than doubled. I paid $14.xx. I get that food prices and transportation costs, etc, are way up, but not enough to more than double the cost, IMO.

2022-05-19I have to stop by every time I pass. The quintessential southern bbq hole in the wall. The BBQ biscuit for breakfast is so good that I order 2

2022-05-17Great Southern BBQ. Except for Five Guys Hamburgers the only place that serves fresh not frozen french fries. Love it and its only minutes away from my grandchildren!

2022-05-14Very good pulled pork sandwich. We also love the fried okra and the stew. Will definitely repeat.
