Ive been taking my male dog here for a few yesars and absolutely love it. The staff is wonderful and know how to handle his rambunctious nature. I got brave and decided to bring him and my Great Dane at the same time last week. Everything went great. Im very impressed with everyone! These two had plenty of attention during their visit!
Very professional and gave a thorough exam.. I called for my sweet Lil man when his current vet would not even work him in with an ear infection. Got appointment within 45 minutes of my call.. Loved on him and petted him to make him feel comfortable and safe before they took him back to treat his ear.We have a new vet
I have gone many times for my guinea pigs. They get us in quick, treat my animals well, and have really fair prices. I wont say cheap just because animals are always expensive, but they also give advice. I got cheaper meds bc they told me how to get them. They are super nice and remembered my pets. I cant say enough good things!
I took my bird here several years ago. He had signs of illness, and I wanted to take him to the closest place that had an exotic animal specialist. I saw online that this place claimed to provide exotic care. I called and made an appointment, and when I arrived and was waiting, I overheard some of the staff whispering that they “don’t usually see these.” It made me uncomfortable because I needed professionals who knew what they were doing to care for my bird, but I had hope that the veterinarian would be on point about it. However, I was really uncomfortable with the way she handled my bird. He actually bled a little bit from his wing feathers getting rubbed too hard while she was trying to hold him, and she hurt him while trimming his nails with the cauterizing iron, but what bothered me the most was that she essentially blamed it on him for being so nervous and flighty. If you have any experience handling birds, you know that’s what they do. Admittedly, it’s a hard job to handle a bird, especially a budgie, but I had taken him to professionals who knew exactly what they were doing before and did not cause him distress, and I was not getting that vibe from her at all. All the concerns I expressed she dismissed and blew off as if I was overreacting, and all the tests that I had just had done by his vet in Birmingham, AL she wanted to do there because of their policy, but after the results came in and seemed normal, they had no interest to investigate the symptoms further, basically telling me there wasn’t anything wrong with him. So by going to this place, I basically paid twice to have the same information I had started with, even though I thought I was going there to get to the root of the problem in what seemed like it could turn into an emergency. I KNEW something was wrong and he was sick, so I ended up taking time off work after all and driving him all the way to the avian specialist in Birmingham who actually knew what he was doing. As it turned out, my poor budgie had cancer. And unfortunately, I had him about another month or so before he died. I had written a long negative review back then about my experience with Animal General Hospital, but I refrained from sharing it at the time because it was so fresh and I was still very emotional about it. However, three years later, I still haven’t forgotten that experience or changed my mind about it. Maybe they are good with cats and dogs, but if you have birds, do not take them there.
We had an emergency with one of our babies and had to be referred here for surgery. They got us in quick for the consultation and set for surgery within a few days. The Dr. Was very nice and the staff professional. They kept us up to date with our baby while he was there and even called several times to check on him after we got him home. Now our baby is doing much better.
This Veterinarian and his staff run a wonderfully tight ship!! The care taken of my horribly injured dog was phenomenal! Beau had run under the wheels of my truck, and both wheels had run him over, broken his pelvis, and sheared off his tail leaving a large gaping wound at the base of his tail.It took weeks of awesome care by this vet and his staff, but my dog has fully recovered!!Explanations were detailed and clear. The kindness and caring was the best! I highly recommend Dr. Waguespack and the staff!!
Expecting to pick up my little guy Milo tomorrow after pelvis fracture repair and I have to say my experience has been wonderful thus far. My 13 pound mutt got under the wheel of a Polaris which resulted in a fracture in each pelvis, one major and one minor, on a Sunday. The vet we saw referred us here, they got him in that next day for drop off and exams, and surgery the following morning (Tues). New Xrays showed the fractures worsened and he needed to be plated on both sides, more extensive and more expensive than what Id been prepared for. Everyone has been diligent in calling me and helping me to understand and make the most educated decision in his treatment and answering my questions. Ive spoken with the surgeon himself several times and he has been great! The only complaint I have is I wish they offered payment plans, but I know fewer places are these days.Update: After picking him up from surgery I couldnt be happier with the staff and the way they handled my dog! They have been awesome explaining everything to me and taking my calls to answer questions. Its quite a drive for follow ups but I plan to make the trips back from Atlanta to keep him under Dr. Waynes care.
Everyone there is great and understands how much your pet means to you - no matter the species. A lot of Veterinarian Clinics cater to dogs - cats seem like an afterthought. But Animal General Hospital has an entrance specifically for cats, and when I went in with my baby kitten, one of the other patients was a Chinchilla! Even as a walk-in the visit was both quick and thorough. The receptionists, assistants, techs and vet were all gentle, attentive and careful with the little 1lb tiny, and I love that the give you a health reportcard to hold on to. Definitely found a regular vet.
Aninal General takes care of my 4 dogs and they do so with so much love! They have been our vet for about 3 years and have handle everything from skin allergies, to a heart worm positive dog, to a dog who ate a dish towel and needed it surgically removed. Highly recommend them for the knowledge, care and love they provide your fur babies!
We were visiting relatives when our dog was injured. We called late on the afternoon after Christmas and despite closing time approaching, Dr. Wayne Waguespack agreed to examine our dog and stayed late to place stitches when I indicated it was unlikely we would be able to return the following day. I was very pleased with the entire staff and most appreciative of their professionalism, especially considering that it was obvious that we were from out of town and likely would not be regular clients. Highly recommended.
I love that Im able to bring my dog(great dane) to Animal General whenever she needs anything. I had to take her to Auburn for an emergency at 2:30 A.M. once, and after knowing she was okay, I brought her here. Dr. Jean saw her first thing that morning, did an ultrasound on her stomach, and saw her stomach was thicker than normal. When I had her gastropexy done, they took samples of her stomach wall and part of her intestine, and sent them to a lab. Now Juno is on the right food for her and doesnt get sick! They also cleared up her skin/ear infections very quickly. She had been shaking her head for a couple days, and after they put stuff in her ears, she stopped messing with her ears within an hour! I am so thankful I have Animal General Hospital to take care of my furbabys needs. Everybody loves greeting her and knows her by name! I know that whenever my baby girl is here, she is in the best hands possible!
Absolutely highly recommend Animal General!!! They ALWAYS take good care of my German Shepherd Reedus Dixon!! The vet and staff are helpful, friendly & really do care!!! They even fit my German Shepherd Reedus Dixon in when he has a ear infection & fixed him up!! Love this place!!! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was a transplant of merging with benning animal hospital. I dropped off my yorkie gif her annual check up. I got an estimate before dropping her off but when my daughter picked her up, she was told that it was almost $300. Way more than the estimate s d way more than my estimate of getting her fixed. She got shots I did not agree to and a three year rabies shot, which I was told before was not a thing. I was very very upset. Before the merge the other vet always called before they gave any of my pets anything extra. I am not going back. I’m switching vets. I was at the other clinic for nine years. The merger has changed that. I always get an estimate before treatment. So upset!

2022-07-16Had to take my mom cat Meow-Meow and my grand kitten Thomas here due to vomiting, etc. Thomas had to stay overnight due to parvo.😔 mom tested negative. They gave me financial estimates prior to completing any services and let me know what treatment would consist of. He is home and seems to be doing fine. One more follow up to go.🙂 They saved my babies life.

2022-06-09Dr. Wheat has been the most compassionate and understanding veterinarian I have ever come across. She helped my sweet Haku transition to kitty heaven comfortably. She respected my decisions. I tried to do everything I could for his best interested. Thanks to Dr. Wheat I was blessed with 2 more happy months with Haku. He was my first pet and I had him for almost half of my life. The authenticity and empathy she provided was what I needed. This was the most difficult decision I had to make. I didnt even have to say many words when it was his time. It is really hard to talk about his passing. I think she deserves this great review and it is way overdue. This is the kind of Veterinarian you want to treat your pets. Thank you so much Dr. Wheat.Rest In peace in my heart forever Haku

2022-06-04Amazing staff..we took our 2yr old pup for her first medical visit and they were very sweet to her (she was very nervous and growling) by the second time she needed to go out of the room with the nurse she just followed him without growling...that make me feel at ease. Definitely a place that cares!

2022-09-16We had been using Benning Animal Hospital for a while, and with very little warning, they merged with Animal General Hospital. Our dog had been in to see the vet at Benning Animal Hospital less than two months ago, and had been given 6 refills for her medications. When Benning Animal Hospital officially closed, those refills were rejected through the online pharmacy. Animal General Hospital refused to honor her prescription refills, demanding that she come back in to be seen and have bloodwork redone again when it was all just done two months ago. They have the records for this. What really upset me the most was that I called two days prior, explained the situation, and they said they would call me back with an answer the very next day. They never called back, and I had to call back to explain everything over to the new individual. When their office staff doesnt return a call, theres already a concern. Benning Animal Hospitals merger with this practice is absolutely awful, and leaving us scrambling to find someone new.

2021-04-25My sweet Socks had to cross the Rainbow Bridge, and the staff were amazing. I wasnt expecting them to give me her paw prints and send a sympathy card. I miss my girl, but they made me know that they loved her also.
