I stumbled upon this restaurant last night as I was out grocery shopping across the street. Not being from the area, I ended up making a wrong turn that took me to this area. I parked my car and tried to peek through the windows but they are tinted so you can’t see anything. I go in, and there aren’t many people dining. It was early, 6pm ish. I get a table and the server asks me if I was doing the regular menu or the buffet. I haven’t had a sushi buffet in a long time. And to be honest, not all are good, so I decided to go for it. This included a bunch of appetizers and hibachi as well. There’s a seafood option too, but that’s almost $60 a person. The appetizer, hibachi and sushi is $27 and they were running a special where dessert was included. To start I got the fried pork dumplings and calamari. Both delicious. The calamari is sautéed on a garlic and onion mixture and it tasted delicious. I also got beef hibachi and it was very flavorful as well. Tender pieces of beef with vegetables. For the sushi part I had originally picked 5 different rolls. I am glad they only brought 3 otherwise I wouldn’t be able to eat it all. Each of the special rolls came with 8 pieces. They brought the one with banana and topped with kani(don’t remember the name) this is pretty good. I don’t remember the name of the other two but one of the us the monkey roll. They were average, nothing too special. One had mango, shrimp and cucumber inside. But nothing really stood out about them. The service was good. My server was attentive. She got slammed with a big party at the end of my meal that delayed a bit the service but overall she was great and friendly. Oh, and I had the molten chocolate cake for dessert, also included with the price of the buffet
A little disappointed this time, the lobster was over cooked and chewy. Even though we all ordered easy on the seasoning they were all heavily seasoned on the first orders, the reorders were better. Our waitress wasnt really attentive enough and we had request others to get items for us. There were 5 of us and we all had the all you can eat seafood and she gratutized our check at 15% which cost her money because we always tip 20%+ in cash. But if you are going to already add the tip we figure that is the amount you are good with receiving.
I love this place and I would give 5 stars but I have came in 3 different times around 9:00 on weekdays or 10:00 in Saturdays when I get off work. I wanted to order a Togo order and I have been told on numerous occasions that the kitchen is closed. Now I understand that the kitchen must clean and I understand that they are ready to Go home, but the hours says 9:30 Sunday - Thursday and 10:30 on Friday and Saturday and I should be able to get a Togo order.....
It was the worst seafood boil Ive ever had. Definitely not worth the price. They precook everything and freeze, then just put in the sauce and heat up. Didnt even bother to mix the sauce evenly. I had the lobster. The center was still cold. No flavor. The texture was as tough as rubber. The sushi rolls were also tasteless. The service was chaotic. Missed my friends order. While we were there, we witnessed two other tables orders got messed up. So there are some systematic management issues here.
Food is great quality and service is amazing as well! Just need to update your pictures and prices for a better understanding so people know what they are actually getting charged. It almost seems like a scam when you don’t update your info. Other than that keep doing what you’re doing.
Wow. Definitely a once a week place for me. The stir fry teriyaki steak and shrimp was just out of this world. The seafood was pretty good. And the delicious sushi just kept coming. For all you can eat it was a great deal. Whole lobsters, crablegs, mussels, and more. I almost would say its pricey but with everything else as expensive as it is now I think it was worth it. Ill be back!
~ This is one of my favorites spots to have a wonderful seafood dinner! Fresh seafood, hibachi, salads, bar & more! Most of all, the customer service and hospitality is fantastic!!! As a tour owner - I recommend this restaurant for groups, family, birthdays & good times - THIS is Asian River! 💯
Bad restaurant we had never being. Seafood are not fresh at all. Seem like they all re-cook seafood left over. We are came in party of 2, every time we order, they bring 1 bag for just one even we pay for what they called seafood buffets, $58 each person. Server she had to looking for spare plate and give to us but just one plate instead of 2, when i ask. She said there is not enough. When we try to order some sushi, never turn out exactly what you ordered. Overall, not recommend to anyone come to this platce, if you are really hungry and want to try out. I do recommend find some place else or stay home and order some pizzas instead.
I found out this restaurant by asking random people whats a good place to go grab breakfast three out of five suggested this restaurant and I am not disappointed at all. I do plan to go back when visiting Georgia. The customer service was beyond expectations. Our waiter gave such great suggestions. The meal wasnt expensive at all.the decor inside the restaurant is also beautiful. I actually got to meet the chefs they are so awesome personable very professional.
I had reserved a table at the Asian River in Pooler. It was for my Husbands retirement dinner. We had people that drove from Tampa Florida and Macon Ga to be here. I reserved the table 2 wks in advance by the Manager and was shown an area that was fairly private so people could stand and speak without disturbing others. I told them that spot would be perfect. Our reservation was for 6pm and we arrived at 5:50. To find out the Hostess had give our reserved area to a party of 30. The Hostess said well I had nowhere to seat them and your reservation was at 6. I explained to her that I knew when it was but it isnt quite 6 yet. Then she walks away. Seating more people in reserved areas that was not on a reservation list. One of the other waitresses told her to stop sitting people in reserved spots. . Anyway the manager comes over cause I am Steaming by this time. She says they must of already had that space reserved and claimed she didnt know who made the reservation. I told her she made the reservation and they checked the book when I reserved it and no one had that space reserved. Then tries to give us a short booth with a little table at the end in the middle of the restaurant. Not acceptable. We had to go find somewhere else to eat. Needless to say my Husbands retirement dinner was ruined. I was supposedly given a refund but it still is not in my acct. Dont waste your time and money here. Customer service and satisfaction is not part of the brand for this place. Very disappointed and hurt.
I used to really love this place when it was still Sapporo. Since the management change, its gone down hill. The menus are basically destroyed and the walls by the booths are dirty and the paint has been scuffed and scraped off. Service is alright, they just seem disinterested. The food is okay as well, its not bad but its not great. Its just as nice as it used to be.
I am a large fan of the Asian River in Savannah, but this is not that. I am still sitting in this restaurant as I type this review, and I can matter of factly say this is the second worst restaurant experience I have had in my life. All of my food that was supposed to be warm was cold. All of my sashimi and sushi tasted days old and was not ice cold, but left out at room temperature for hours. Each piece of sashimi I ate tasted old and fishy. I ordered the All-You-Can-Eat-Sushi and ordered about 8 separate things, from sashimi, to a sushi roll, to a sushi starter, to fried calamari. None of these things were edible or even close to meeting the standards I hold the location in Savannah to. The only thing I was able to start and finish eating was the Miso Soup. This is thankfully my first and last time ever eating here. I am not a person to cause conflict and Im tired so Ive brought nothing up to my waiter, who actually was really nice and gave great service, I plan on tipping him. This is the worst sushi experience I have ever had and as a huge sushi enjoyer, Ive currently just lived out my biggest nightmare.
This is a very cool restaurant that is located conveniently off Pooler Parkway by the 95 exit, it remains easily accessible in a safe spot that is will lit at night. The Asian River has a unique atmosphere thanks to some pretty wonderful servers and the fact that their food is always on point! Miss Madison was our waitress and she was beyond amazing. Will definitely be a returning customer now! Thanks yall!

2022-02-20This was our first time eating here. We are new residents of the Pooler area and definitely found our new sushi place. Our waitress Teresa was amazing at making us feel welcome and all of our food came out super quick. We will definitely be back regularly. They also have All you can eat seafood which we will get that next time. Great job Teresa and the rest of the staff at Asian River 🍣 🦀 🦞 🍤🥟🍜🍵🍶🧋

2022-05-09All you can eat seafood, hibachi and sushi...for real! ..but make sure you bring at least $65 after taxes/person and the price wont include a drink.Friendly, unique dining experience. All the food we got tasted fresh. Beautiful looking Lobsters, snow crab legs, crawfish, etc so good I been there twice.

2022-05-06Food is not terrible, taste is good enough. The lobster was over cooked making it chewy. The building atmosphere and staff are a little sketchy. Reasonably priced.

2021-06-29Asian River is pricey with the seafood, but it is so worth it! My daughter and I chose the trio- seafood(including lobster now), sushi, and hibachi. This place is a winner!! Food and service was great even though it was close to closing time. I love how the staff pitches in and works together to make sure customers are taken care of. We really enjoyed everything!

2022-04-15My husband, child and I stopped by for the first time a few weeks ago and we LOVED it. The food was delicious and every request we asked for was granted! But the most important part that my husband and I appreciated so much was our server, Bryce. The host thought us requesting to sit outside wouldnt be such a good idea since the restaurant was so busy (understandable), but Bryce checked up on us every 5 minutes and communicated the whole time. He was a wonderful server. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

2022-03-22Our first time and I very much enjoyed myself. It was $28 per person but all you can eat sushi and hibachi plus appetizers, salad bar, and ice cream. Everything was made fresh and brought to our table immediately. Very unique experience and I highly recommend. Yes its pricey but go ahead and splurge and enjoy the experience.

2022-05-04The food was very good, the reason for the 1 star if simply put. Our waitress, extremely snarky attitude, was not very attentive at all and when I raised my hand to finally get her attention she started hollering at me. She never brought us our food out it had always been put off on someone else. When she finally did come to refill our water it wasnt pleasant at all. Reaching across everyones food without notice. Just Poor poor service for her.

2022-06-06This is a great way to get a variety of Asian food at a great price. The lunch specials are priced very reasonably and come with a lot of food or sushi. The sushi special rolls are very elaborate and imaginative. The service was fast and friendly and the interior decor was pleasant and clean. We will be back to try other dishes for sure.
