Just signed up for the Athens 1/2 Marathon and walked into Athens Running Company to get the shoes for the job. It was a great, great experience - two staff members were incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable, one studied the wear on my previously worn out pair to give me recommendations, and stepped me through trying on about ten pairs of shoes - while the other, a certified coach, gave me ample free advice on how to train for the upcoming event. I wasnt up-sold on any in-soles, accessories, etc... they just made me feel relaxed, open-minded, and at ease to make my choice in my time. Best time Ive ever had purchasing running shoes. Really excellent folks and a great selection in stock.

I love how they take the time out to take care of every customer. My son needed to be fitted for the right running shoe and the staff member did not stop until he nailed it. He answered a ton of questions for us. He wasnt pushy or trying to aggressively sell him the most expensive shoe. They now have a customer for life.
The staff here are always helpful and friendly. They work to find the best shoes for your feet and go the extra mile to make sure they stay on your feet. When I had a pair of shoes that formed a split in the sole four months after I bought them, they traded them in for a new pair of an older model of a different style, free of charge, and are the best shoes Ive ever worn.
Ive been here twice and both time the employees were very helpful. They have a broad knowledge and are more than happy to share that knowledge with you. They also have a lot of patience and are willing to work with you to find the perfect pair of shoes and running accessories.
Im a new runner, several friends recommended these folks. I was greeted by Brad and Mark, these guys could make anyone feel at ease and welcome! Brad worked with me finding the right shoes, not only did we try several pairs. Brads main mission was to find the right shoes, after about 10 mins of talking and a look over my daily boots, he had me sized up and a good feel on my needs. Brad could have easily up sold me to a $140 pair of shoes, they felt good, but the $90 pair ended up feeling great! As he said I didnt want to taint your opinion with price. Ill be a repeat customer, thats for sure!
First time at this store and I will definitely be returning! I tried on two pairs of shoes that the staff recommended based on my needs, I loved one pair more so I asked how much they were. He said $120 so I said I would like to buy them. The other employee who I assume is the owner or manager was ringing me up and it rang up $130 so I told him that I thought the price was $120 since that’s what the other guy told me and the manager honored the lower price since that is what he told me even though it was Incorrect. Now that is customer service!! I would have still paid the $130 but the fact that he didn’t even pause before honoring what I was told was incredible.
This is maybe one of my favorite stores in Athens. The customer service I received here was phenomenal. I am a complete novice when it comes to running, and Brad was encouraging, very knowledgeable, and full of helpful advice. I will definitely be a return customer, and would recommend them to anyone interested in running.
I came here a few weeks ago to find some shoes for running, which I’m new to doing. I have flat feet and extremely narrow heels so finding good, comfortable shoes has always been a struggle for me. However, the staff here didn’t bat an eye and knew what to do. The person who helped me examined my gait and within minutes found me the perfect pair of shoes. They feel like I’m walking on air! Also, my feet don’t slip up and fit my feet like a glove. I appreciated how the staff person explained the design of the shoe and why she thought they would be good for my feet. They are very professional. I was in and out in less than 10 mins. If I’m ever in the market for running shoes again, I’ll definitely come back.
First time ever getting properly fitted for a running shoe. The process from start to finish took an hour and change. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. I asked questions and they answered without any sales pitch bullshittery. When all was said and done, I walked away with some extra footwear knowledge and a gratifying purchase. Their 2 week exchange policy is very handy as the first pair I left with turned out to be not as great as I thought they were. Exchanged them for a pair that I am quite happy with. 5 stars, will return for future purchases.

This place is awesome! Top of the line selection with varying price points. The staff was lovely and genuinely intersted in helping you find the best shoe. He even knocked a few bucks of a sale shoe for me! A great local business that I highly recommend.
This is hands down my go to spot for anything running related - easily the best shop in Athens, and better than any Ive done business with in the greater Atlanta area. The staff is knowledgeable, approachable, and above all else clearly care about what they do, and about you as a person more so than a customer. Ive purchased at least 5 pairs of shoes and a quite a bit of attire and accessories here. Ive never once left feeling unappreciated or unsatisfied. My needs, desires, and abilities are all thoughtfully taken into account.I recommend Athens Running Company to any and all of my friends and would urge anyone to give them a shot. Their prices are definitely competitive - the same or less than can be had online and that comes with amazing service and a company thats more than willing to stand behind their products (and that pesky wait on shipping!).I also love supporting well run local businesses, and the only way I see myself getting my running gear anywhere else would be if I moved too far to drive - something I hope never happens! I have to say it one more time too - the staff is absolutely amazing. I do have to say though, if youre lucky enough to work with Brad, hes worth his weight in gold! Many companies, regardless of the industry, could learn a thing or two by watching the interest and care shown by everyone at ARC!Lastly, its well worth pointing out ARC is judgment free. The staff are clearly athletes, but Ive never heard or encountered anything other than real words of encouragement and support. Plainly put, Athens Running Co is the best!
Im getting back into running and needed a new pair of shoes. The team at ARC analyzed my gait on the treadmill and recommended several different shoes to try. They were more than willing to answer any questions I had and I came home with what I hope will be the perfect shoes (I havent actually gone running with them yet). Mark also helped me pick out a Garmin sports watch with GPS capability to track my runs and fitness level. I will definitely return here next time I need new running shoes.
Friendly environment with excellent customer service. Wife range of running/walking shoes to fit your feet no matter your moving style. I highly recommend this place for people who are serious about taking care of their feet while on the move.

I am a newbie to the world of running and I just recently signed up to run my first half marathon. About two weeks into my training, I started experiencing pain in my achilles tendon. Not knowing what to do or what was going on, I reached out to Athens Running Company via email for some advice. Brad, one of their certified coaches, immediately emailed me back asking for me to come in. When I arrived at their store, I was immediately greeted by Brad. After some discovery conversations to learn what was going on, Brad was able to make some great recommendations for me. Not only did he provide me with some great recovery and strength building exercises, but he also loaned me a pair of Mizunos and a ultrasound tool to try at home to see if it would speed up the recovery and strengthening of my achilles tendon and ease the pain I was experiencing during my runs. That wasnt the end of our interaction though. Later on that evening, I received another email from Brad wanting to follow up with me personally. Brad was very invested in making sure my experience was one of a kind. I am so thankful for Brad and Athens Running Company. You guys truly created a remarkable experience for me. Thank you!
I went to ARC based on great word of mouth, their 5 star reviews, and my total lack of knowledge. The whole experience was ideal. I got some great recommendations and advice. I left with a shoe that fits great and that I already love running in.
Everyone was really nice and knowledgeable. I was able to try on many different shoes, got a lot of help, and ended up finding a great pair of shoes for my trail running.
These guys are amazing. Had terrible ankle trouble and they took time and interest in my personal problem. Helped find the perfect shoe and had made a huge difference with ankle strength and pain.

They have water outside that you can fill up your bottle with and its really clean there bathroom is really nice too 10/10 great place to pee

Athens Running Company is a true diamond in the rough here in Athens. I have been an avid runner for over two decades and have a Masters degree in exercise physiology, when I walk into a running store I usually expect to hear the same simple gait observations with a side of whatever trendy fad is in running currently. The kind of misinformation that could get you injured 6 months down the road. This was not at all the case here. I spent at least two hours talking with the staff and they truly know what they are talking about. Their fit process is 2nd to none. I have mostly dealt with Brad and I can only say good things about him. No matter your level of fitness or experience, take your business to this store, you will not be disappointed.

2022-07-12This was the first running store my friends and I visited and it could not have been a better experience. Brad was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I failed to catch the name of the lady who also helped us but she was just as informed and helpful. We’re new to running and they took the time to explain things to us and helped us to find the right fit for us. It also feels good to support a local business. Highly recommend this place for anyone interested in running. We’ll definitely be back.

2021-10-29The guy working must have had much more important things to do than help me find shoes. We drove 65 miles to this store hoping to support a small business and come away with better shoes than what Ive been buying online. The employee did not follow one step of the fit process they mention on their website and FB page. Instead he asked what I wore in the past. I told him I need a wider toe box. He immediately told me due to the shoe shortage they have no Wides in stock. None. Not one brand with Wides. Then pointed me to the beautiful wall of shoes and said if I see something I like to let him know. I asked if he has any Brooks that might work (I wore them years and years ago) and he said since they have no wide then he will bring out an 11. I normally wear a 10-10.5 but since these wouldnt be Wide maybe this will work (Ive never had someone recommend this in over 12 years of running). That of course didnt work so I asked if they could order a Wide pair from the company. His reply was they havent made shoes for over two months and there are none to order. Ill have to call other shoe stores to ask if they have them.On the way home I went to the Brooks company website. I ordered three pair, all Wides, in my size. Spent $422 that could have happily supported a small business in Athens. Its unfortunate we spent almost three hours driving and he was only able to give us about 6-7 minutes of time. Ive purchased shoes from small, local shops all over the country. This was such a disappoinment. Sadly, chances are good we will never stop there again. 2020-10-24Professional, organized, and friendly. From start to finish I felt important. My needs were met for my unique feet. The employee that helped me was friendly and funny and very knowledgeable about his craft. I bought shoes there three years ago and returned last month to buy a new pair of the same brand. I wish I had a reason to visit more often because I leave feeling energized and good about myself. I will never buy shoes anywhere else.

Sometimes I WONDER how they know so much about each shoe! I have referred several friends to them because I trust Athens Running Company to put me in the right fit, which is so important for any level of runner. 2020-10-30Great folks - very knowledgeable and kind! I came in needing a very particular kind of shoe, and walked out with one that fit great in less than 15 minutes. Fitting process was very easy and socially distanced. Ill definitely be back when I need new shoes or gear!
