Dont let the strip mall appearance fool you. This place had a tremendous selection of seafood items and a wide variety of creative specials the day I went.I went with the shrimp and grits as well as the fried clam strips. All of it was very tasty. I had lunch at 2:30 on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was packed, including several local police officers.
While in Gainesville a few days ago, I had pizza at Atlas Pizza Restaurant and reviewed them. Google then showed me some other restaurants, like Atlanta Highway Seafood Market. So today with nothing to do, I drove up there (55 minutes). I found the place and it gave me pause, because it looked like a hole in the wall, type restaurant. However, when I peaked in, I saw a lot of folks munching with great intent on their food.Being my first time, I had to learn that you order and pay at the counter. Then you sit down and they bring it to you. I decided something safe, like the Shrimp tacos with red beans and rice. Plus a seafood gumbo. The tacos were absolutely delicious, wow! The gumbo was definitely not New Orleans style, spicy gumbo. But for me, who doesnt like a lot of spice it was good and plentiful. The main thing was the cost was about $15, which is cheap for good food and gumbo. I like it. I will try something else, the next time I cruise through that way.
This quaint little seafood market is tucked away on the backside of strip center. Inside you will find some of the best Cajun cuisine this side of New Orleans. The staff is welcoming, friendly..and accommodating. The sandwiches are Will’s made, not overwhelming or skimpy. The bread is light and airy with a perfect crust. The seafood is always fresh. The atmosphere is ...well, in the back end of a strip center. It works. We always enjoy!
Great experience. Its certainly not a budget lunch, but $17 with tax for the best shrimp and scallops Ive had in my life is well worth it. They will blacken, grill, or fry the seafood at your request, which was a major help to someone like me whos been trying to avoid the fried foods!
Food was good. Ordered a grouper Po boy and got a grouper dinner instead so service needs a little work. The fries and slaw the came with it were nothing special but good. The grouper was chunked and deep fried. I got about 8 chunks and they were very good. Wife had the rainbow trout and it was just okay. They have a pretty large selection and it was good enough that would return.
The anticipation of selecting fresh fish & having it cooked on premise had me excited 😊 for this dining experience 😟 Assortment of fresh 🐟 ✅Cooked on premise ✅I ordered Rainbow Trout- it was overcooked & the pieces were VERY thinso I was served Anemic Trout 😔I was told no hush puppies 🥲 “ran out” it was 6pm on a Saturday 😮!!! The service was good……Finally, the location is extremely interesting and I can’t find the right words to describe it, But that it was an experience 🥸
Amazing classic Gulf Coast seafood. Easily one of the top 3 in the Atlanta Metro area. Loved the fried shrimp and oysters. My daughter got a blackened Tilapia poboy, which was huge, though very mild seasoning. You might have to tell them to add seasoning to any blackened fish.Tucked away in a small strip mall in an older part of Gainesville. Parking can be tricky, especially when its crowded which was the case Wednesday evening. They close early for dinner so check their hours before making plans. We arrived 10 minutes prior to closing and was able to get table service. The patio is nice and not quite as noisy as inside. Servers and cashier are very attentive and polite.
The food and service here is absolutely incredible !!! I always get the seafood sampler platter and the gumbo and it never disappoints. I highly recommend that you try them both. Also the owner Phong always greets me with a smile and makes me feel welcome . His customer service is Superior !!! Thanks Phong and keep up the good work
Phuong is the absolute best! My mom and I just adore him and his business. We like to travel the US for food and we went to him several years back before our mother daughter road trip to NOLA. He handwrote a list of seafood markets we had to try and they did NOT disappoint! I love that he travels to get fresh seafood back to us here so we can enjoy the Cajun flair he brings to our community. Everything is so fresh and delicious!
I decided on fried seafood this time. If I ever get back to Augusta Ill try their grilled. Most of the food was really excellent. The fried oysters were tender as nd juicy; the shrimp were lightly breaded and cooked just right. Good fries, slaw, and hush puppies made for an excellent dinner. The only thing a bit below par was the Whiting. It was a bit dry and overcooked. I think its a mistake to slice it so thin making it near impossible to cook properly. But that didnt spoil a really nice fried seafood dinner.
Its more similar to a hole in the wall in atmospher and location its off the beaten path. But honesty whenever I can I stop by.I like their ceviche and many times I get their cup size as my main meal for lunch. I have tried several dishes and never disliked any. Good food, busy store, good prices, and quick service
OMG words couldnt express how wonderful there food is.i had shrimp and scallops the flavor exploded in my mouth.was my second time there but definitely not my last.best scallops Ive ever tasted large and so tender can dine inside or out , casual atmosphere.if you dont try this little hidden gem your missing out .
I order a pound of Bream and had them to cook them. They charged about $6 to cook the two fish. After I got home to eat them, I could hardly tell they were fish. They were slices on both side and fried to almost a crisp. The fish was almost unrecognizable. The fish was so over cooked, there were hardly and meat on them, just mainly the bones.I was highly disappointed.
Best seafood anywhere around. The service is great, too. Dont be too worried if you see a long line, because a lot of people order to go. I usually get the fried seafood platter, but I noticed that they had Seafood Bisque. I really like clam chowder so I tried the bisque. It was fantastic. I highly recommend it. I think it is only offered on Friday and Saturday. It is a 40 minute drive for us, but it is well worth it. By the way, it is also a Seafood Market with some rally good looking fresh selections.
Visited this place for the first time about a week ago for a birthday celebration and we had a party of 10. They dont take reservations but they had no problem putting some tables together for all of us. This restaurant is a very casual placeand the inside is nothing fancy necessarily but the food that I have eaten here is incredible! All 10 of us had a meal and everyone enjoyed what they got without a doubt. I love shrimp and grits and it was absolutely fabulous, I even had the server add extra shrimp and he had no problem with that. It was one of the best shrimp and grit meals Ive ever had! When you go into this place you order at a counter and then you sit down. When you first walk in all of the fresh fish is on display and of course you can purchase just about anything you like. All of the staff, waiters and waitresses are very friendly. My wife and I cannot wait to go back!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. It was crowded but we got a table for 6 really fast. We had the Blackened Swordfish, Shrimp and scallops, fried fish and clam chowder. All of our food came out fast and it was really fresh. Speaking of FRESH they have a seafood market right out front. Their prices are just as reasonable as any grocery store but FRESH. Their menu in the restaurant is very diverse I had a hard time making just one choice. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you do seat yourself and order up front. It reminded me of being in Florida. Dont let the area of Gainesville scare you because this place is worth it.
Gainesvilles best kept secret. I will definitely visit this place again and again and again. Generous amount of food with each dish and priced very well for the freshness of the food. You can choose your own fish and hell cook it for you. Must visit, you will not be disappointed.
Quick service both at the register and from our waitress who brought us several items. Top notch!Food was good and large portions. Little on the pricey side IMHO. Wife wanted scallops however they were not available so got oysters instead. Grandson got crab fingers which were really good.Overall great experience and would highly recommend to anyone in the Gainesville area wanting some good seafood.

2022-05-20This is my go to seafood restaurant in Gainesville GA. So glad they survived COVID. Been here four or fives times and never have had a bad meal. I will be the first to admit it isnt much to look at due to the decor, very simple but the seafood is awesome. Better then Fish Tails (which is very good in its own right) and blows Red Lobster out of the water.

2022-01-15The PO boy was big, with a lot of fried shrimps and toasted bread. It was fine, but I got an upset stomach after eat it (maybe the mix between that oil and the cold drink)The seafood plate was good, but no delicious. The onions were not totally cooked, and the grilled oysters were almost raw (at least they were big) I would prefer them in the shell and a little more cooked. For those two things, 2 drinks and 1 coleslaw the total was 50.

2022-04-09We have been wanting to check this place out after it was recommended by a friend, let me tell you, it was worth the 2 hour drive! This place has some of the best seafood around that I have found since I moved here from the MS Gulf Coast. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent, the food and service was a 10 out of 10, if you want great seafood, then this is the place! We will be definitely visiting again.

2022-03-05Service was quick enough I couldnt finish a cigarette before my plate showed up.Fries are crisp and tender. Piled up enough to make you proud.Hish puppies are perfect. Couple of corn kernels to let you know they care.Cole slaw is rather bland to my tastes. Could use more color from carrots or red cabbage, more flavor from something that provides it.5 pieces of a proud sized fried shrimp. OMG theyre spectacular. You can two or three bite em and be just as happy with the mouth stuffing one bite. They need no dipping, but Ill do it anyway...Cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce are both bland, but in their defense, they take nothing away from the best fried shrimp Ive ever had. I cant fault this meal about that.5 Fried oysters of a good size, with spice flecks and a sultry smile. Its like biting into a crispy cloud. The crust is complementary, not cumbersome. The oyster is so soft and tender. Absolutely delicious. No dipping here. The flavor is too subtle for even a bland sauce.I can only dream of what these folks can do with a fried chicken liver.I notice theres no wait staff hovering over me, as the bussers are quick to clear tables. These folks know from quality service.Atmosphere is family, quit, and inviting. Ages span the little girl laughing at herself, to the elder couple bragging on their selections. Conclusions?Price: Shrimp & Oyster Dinner, $21, and $1 for my root beer.Great, flavorful value.Food Quality: Awesome for what I came here for, bland on the extras. But as flavorful and filling as the main was, the extras are superfluous.Staff: Attentive, not botheringly obsessed. They must be well aware the food sells itself.Recommendation:Highest. Quality and quantity at this price, in these times, is to be applauded.

2021-10-06First time I went in, they didn’t have any oysters. I was also told they don’t serve them on the half shell, like most places, which disappointed me, since the Atlanta Highway Seafood Market does. The second time I went in, they had oysters available but only fried. Their prices are very high, so I didn’t want to get the full platter, so I ordered the oyster plate. It arrived fast and comes with fries, slaw & 2 hush puppies, which were all good. But the 8 oysters were not fresh! I know by the color of the inside and the taste, and these were small and black on the inside, kinda like the smoked canned ones you get for a dollar from China. If they don’t even bother to “shuck” raw oysters 🦪 for their customers, how am I to believe the fried ones I ordered were actually fresh? The place has a lot of fresh fish to offer and it seems like they know what they’re doing, except for oysters, which are probably fine, when they sell to go, and are probably good, whole/in the shell. But when I want my fried oyster fix, I’ll be going back to Gainesville Seafood Market down the street.

2022-02-12Finally made it here and so glad I did. The five star reviews are the real deal. Had the gumbo and a fried shrimp platter. Both were outstanding and left me wanting more. Service was fast and friendly, and the price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Already looking forward to the next of many more visits to come.

2022-03-22The good: Staff very friendly and accommodating. Sampled the gumbo, seafood bisque and red beans/rice. All was good. The seafood bisque was the favorite. The fried shrimp platter was very good. The NOT so good/Needs improvement: expected more from the pricey grilled seafood platter. For $22.50 you get 1 very small piece of fish, 5 med sized shrimp and 5 very small oysters. The seasoning was very bland. Not what you usually expect.Altogether...not worth the trip. VERY small portions. Too expensive and they offered no explanation for the mysterious service fee that will show up on your receipt.Wont be back.
