This place is the real deal! From the pad thai to the curry rice as side dishes. The scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly in a delicious sauce. The eggplant and tofu was crispy and so flavorful! Try the Thai Iced teas to wash everything down, not overly sweet and compliments the food perfectly. Great staff also. Due to the staff shortage they do automatically charge 18% gratuity, but believe me its worth it!
We were visiting from out of town and had a craving for Thai. We were not disappointed! The best dishes we have had at a Thai restaurant in a long time! The Thai salad is incredibly fresh and a great portion considering the price. Our appetizer was the coconut shrimp and it was so savory, especially with the dipping sauce! The pad Thai was authentic and the Red Curry (medium level spice) was absolutely perfect. We couldnt put our forks down! We will eat here again if we visit this area!
My family loves this restaurant. My kids always ask for Bai Tong for their birthday. They are so excited when they have a complimentary coconut cake with candle for their birthday. Nice patio setting, we love fresh air on the patio. Their staff are friendly and always get what we want. We are very specific for our requirements because we are vegetarian. They never disappoint us. There are plenty of parking lots. Parking our car has never been an issue for us.
This is quite possibly, the worst food I have ever eaten. Nothing was fresh, and everything tasted pre-made/pre-packaged and reheated.1.) Ive had Tom Yum Soup more times than I can count, so I expect it to taste a certain way. What they serve is nowhere close to Tom Yum, nor can it be even considered soup. It was literally sugar water with tofu, and inedible.2.) Steamed Dumplings tasted like it came out of a frozen box you get at Costco and reheated poorly.3.) Pad Thai was........again, not Pad Thai but something completely odd. This is the one time I wish I could give negative stars. I want my money back.
This is the best spot we’ve found for authentic Thai food. Compares with our favorite places in our old NYC neighborhood, but they really need to add wait staff. We walked out tonight after waiting several minutes to get seated when the tables were mostly empty. One server is handling both takeout/Door Dash/Uber Eats and dining room. Every time he approached us about to get us seated, one of the tables needed something. There were about eight different people standing inside close together just waiting for takeout. No one even acknowledged we were there, so we walked out without them even noticing they lost a family of customers. Again, the food is outstanding, especially the basil dishes. But adding one or two servers would improve their business exponentially. By trying to save money on staff, they’re loosing paying/hungry customers.
Been here a couple of times and sometimes the food is great and sometimes it isnt. It really helps when the server understands what I am trying to order. That way the order can be done correctly. The place is worth going to. But just be prepared you might get a little frustrated.
We went to Bai Tong for dinner and had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant was very nice and clean. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken promptly. We ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken, curry fried rice with beef and an eggplant / tofu dish. The food came out quickly and it was excellent. The fried rice had a great seasoned wok taste, the curry fried rice was nice and spicy and the tofu dish was very tasty as well (very flavorful sauce). All three dishes had very distinct flavors and were excellent. We will definitely be going back to try some of the other entrees!
The food came out looking scrumptious. I thought my date was beautiful, and what made the night even better was the first bite of my Drunken noodle😍. The food was hot, the vegetables were fresh, and the Basil mussel were to die for!!! Hand down the best Thai food I have had in years. Everything is full of flavor!
Bai Tong is a hit or a miss these days.I usually get their chicken pad thai and more times than not, its good. But this time, they said they dont do chicken pad thai which was confusing... Maybe they ran out? So we got the shrimp pad thai and wow it was so salty I could not finish more than maybe 3 bites forcefully... and it was very soupy which was very odd... Hopefully it was just an off day. I will have to update the review if we ever order again from here.Pros: it does not take too long for your order to be ready.
Ordered food and gave clear instructions to not add eggs. The food was delivered with eggs. When I called and informed, the lady argued with me that I had given no such instructions. The level of rudeness and accusations that I as a customer had to endure was unbelievable.I was a regular customer and now will never order again and make sure all my friends are aware of this.
Ordered the masaman curry and calamari. It was the sweetest masaman curry I’ve ever had. Way too much sugar. Almost tasted like it was trying to be a dessert. Calamari looked and tasted like something you buy from Costco. Cheap and not very good. Calamari tasted like the chicken fries from Burger King.
Nice neighborhood setting, very good food. Massaman curry is a real treat as it comes with avocado and cashews. Service is quick, carry out is always right. Been here over 30 times, consistent. Lower pricing compared to other Thai places who give lesser quantities and quality. Friendly staff. Good value.
Nice quiet little Thai place. Service is good and the food was great. We had the red curry and a speciality item called earth fire water. Both were good. For starters we had the steamed chicken dumplings. Those were probably the highlight or our meal. Highly recommend 👍
This is one of our favorite Thai restaurants in the area. We have tried almost everything in the menu. The ambience is good and the service has always been good. We love their Thai iced tea. The basil duck is amazing. There is not much of a wait usually, but weekends are a bit busier.
Went with a friend in a weekday for lunch. Very friendly service. The food was pretty good. Good spice level, not overwhelming (one chicken and one Tofu dish ordered, no appetizers however) - about standard for Thai in this area. Wish the beer choice was better - again with standard for Thai restaurants in general.
The lady here is just not nice. She never smiles and is bothered if I ask her something. She has hard time communicating too. She told me that she lost my credit card, and my friends and I had to search the floor with our flashlights for 10minutes. She got angry at us and started shouting NO CARD. Later she brought my card later in her hand. If you are not happy doing business, then dont do it. Food was just okay. I would not return here.
I have been their regular customer for a long time. Mostly take out orders. Their food quality is exceptionally well and it is consistent. Some of the dishes are very unique and worth trying. Being a vegan I care what broth they are using and I was always assured of having a pure Vegan food.
We LOVE this restaurant - even more so since the pandemic began. We can get consistently delicious food, with large servings and tons of veggies and meat, and curbside pickup is a breeze. We order here about once a week just to do our part to make sure they survive the pandemic (it’s also a great excuse to “have” to get Bai Tong consistently!).
These reviews are unbelievable. Literally. Maybe I came on a night the head chef was out, but I found the curry too salty with little flavor, and the shrimp were so awful we didnt finish them. The service was nice. But I cant help but think many of these reviews are friends or family of the owners. Time shall tell. Low quality ingredients and poorly cooked but expensive as upscale gourmet Thai. Disappointing for the price. Skip it if youre picky about Thai food. This place falls way short on flavor and quality.
I ordered a meal for takeout at Bai Tong and found that the vegetables, which I ordered steamed, were so cold that they tasted like they came right out of the fridge. When I called to let them know about the issue, all they did was come up with any excuses they could think of not to resolve it. The lady who answered the phone suggested heating up the vegetables at home (despite the fact that I just paid twelve bucks for my meal), and that the cold weather outside that day probably had something to do with them being as cold as they were in the box. The cook also refused to make a fresh batch to compensate for their error. Their lack of honest customer service and the overall sense of indifference they gave me are why I will never spend another penny at Bai Tong. I highly recommend Chaba Thai on Medlock Bridge Rd. Youll get more food and friendlier service for your money.
Went there for lunch today I was excited to try it from the “five star” reviews I read. I should have read more of the “one star” reviews. The woman who waited on us was so “not there”and robotic. No greeting like, say, hello. She just appeared at the table with her order pad and asked for our food order before we had our drinks. The soup came. It was bowl of flavorless dishwater with a few pieces of raw chopped cabbage floating in it. Not kidding. It was inedible. Should have taken a photo. the shrimp appetizer was cold and tough. Definitely had been reheated more than once. The curry entree was equally bad. supposed to have veggies and we picked out two small pieces of soggy broccoli and two carrot strips. This is the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long time. There is no cooking going on in that kitchen. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
Eat here at least twice a week. Friendly service and food is great. My favorite is shrimp with kiss me sauce thai hot 4! I do not eat carbs, so they accommodate and serve in bowl with extra veggies. We have been going there for at least 2 years and have never had a bad meal or service.
Went around lunch time. Staff was very polite and kind. First thing I did was check the restroom. I was very pleased at how clean the facility was. As I was seated I realized that the entire restaurant was spotless. Happy with my choice of location, I ordered the Pad Woon Sen and Green Tea. The food was incrrdibly delicious. I am from out of town and I was extremely pleased with my experience today. I will definitely return with some friends. This restaurant should have 5 stars!!
I really liked this restaurant and the food was very tasty. Patio was large enough for social distancing at an early dinner. I gave fewer stars as wait staff were wearing face screens rather than masks. CDC has said these are inefficient to prevent covid transmission.
Authentic cuisine that will keep you coming back for more! I used to travel down to Buford Highway inside the perimeter to get quality Thai food. Not anymore! This restaurant specializes on dishes that you will want to eat again and again. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. So if you are there for lunch or dinner, prepare to enjoy some authentic Thai dishes!
Ive been a few times, now, and have enjoyed it each time. Ive gone with two different friends and also my sister - each on separate occasions. I always order the green curry (its what I crave). However, my guests order different items, and each have raved about the excellent flavor. I was worried when i first saw yelp reviews - everything seemed either GREAT or NOT ... but my experiences have been consistently great!
Great convenient location to home to this family owned restaurant. Nice decor with simple functional furniture.Tom yum soup was a little too sweet. Prefer the soup at Talay Thai.Basil veggies... Really tasty.Red curry is great as well.Basil fried rice... Good.Everything has a sweet taste to it. May be they add sugar to the curry. Only thing that we did not like.Fast and prompt service.
Would give them 0 star if I can. We came in on Aug 4, 2018. We waited 20 minutes for the server to take our order. We finally put the order in but the food took forever to come out. We were upset but thought things happen, maybe they are short handed or so. Anyway, I ordered Earth, wind, and fire (shrimp and chicken), I asked for level 2 on the spiciness, so basically mild. The food arrived and my dish was very spicy, hot spicy, maybe the highest you can get... I ate it because I was hungry. Then I found a hair in the food. I called the server, he brought in a lady who apologized and offered to prepare another less spicy dish. I didnt take the offer because I wasnt going to be home for the next few days so I asked for a credit for the next visit or simply to remove the dish from the check. She said she couldnt do that because the manager wasnt there. She took my name and agreed to give us the same dish at no charge for the next visit. I was fine at that time. Now this is where I lost it, we asked for the check and for to go boxes, again it took at least 10 minutes+ for that to arrive. At that time were there for almost an hour and half and the kids were tired. The check arrived and they had the guts to include a 20% gratuity!!!!! $18 of tip for all this trouble??? I was so upset and called the waitress back, pointed to the tip and she said: You have a party of five and we charge for five people and up. We were 3 adults, a kid, and an infant who didnt even order a main course. I couldnt believe what had just happened. We paid and left, I told her that we will never come back again.I will complain to the better business bureau, I will not let this go and fight it. This is beyond terrible service, it is unacceptable to treat customers like this.
Let me just say that I used to come here with my family years ago. Last time I went there, the service was appalling. It took them nearly 30 minutes to bring me and my group of 4 people water to drink and take our order, and even longer (approaching 1 hour and 15 minutes) to get our food. Meanwhile, other people are seated and had appetizers nearly instantly. Now I will acknowledge that we were there during a busy time, and a lot of tables were very busier than ours, but its unacceptable when other, larger tables were being served instantly after sitting down, and the rest of us are waiting for nearly an hour and a half for our food. The food wasnt even that good for how long we waited or what we paid for it! Ill be avoiding it in the future. Hopefully this doesnt happen again in the future.
As much as my family and I enjoy the food and the reasonable price - this last experience left a severe bad taste in mouth (figuratively). My family picked me up from the airport late in the evening, and arrived at Bai Tong around 900. Their sign clearly states that they close at 930PM. We were greeted by an older gentleman who we confirmed to ensure we were okay to dine in, given the time. We frequent this restaurant, so we knew exactly what we wanted to get. As we entered the restaurant a young man seated us who made sure that knew the kitchen was closing at 915PM. Since we knew what we wanted - I told him that we are ready to order - he said the server will get to you - and made it apparent that it is beyond him to take our order. It was the attitude you want to capture in a video to show exactly what customer service is NOT. I was exhausted after my trip, and decided to just grumble with my family - I did not confront this rude individual. I figured - first, I will never go back to that restaurant AND I will make sure that I advise all social media out there of how they treat their customers. This young mans lack of customer focus and severely rude attitude has lost a loyal customer, and hopefully other may heed before going to this establishment. I pay my hard working dollars to just not get food - but to be treated courteously. This restaurant may have good food - but this mans attitude ruined it.
We ordered through Grubhub last night. It was our first time trying Bai Tong Thai. Authentic, delicious Thai food that is not fusion Thai/Chinese...legitimate Thai food that was spot on for flavor of every dish we ordered! We had the Basil dinner with chicken (phenomenal flavor), Chicken pad Thai (tastes like Thai food from home!), Rama chicken (yum!!!), Volcano chicken, Honey tofu with vegetables & tofu bites. We will be back!!!!
They were very good when we first started ordering from them, but our last few visits - the food was awful. Rice was hard, other items very salty and just not pleasing to the taste buds. I’ve had Thai since I was a kid, I know what it’s suppose to taste like. I’m going to try Nahm in Alpharetta.
I dined at this restaurant a few weeks ago and the service was not very good the server had no personality when I ask her to recommend what was good she just seemed confused. And honestly I thought the food tasted awful and was way over priced! Nothing like authentic Thai food! If you want good Thai food go to Norcross of Thai it is worth the drive it is amazing!
What a hidden jem! My boyfriend and I ate a late lunch/early dinner at 5pm, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The place is very clean, staff is polite, and the menu has enough options for variety without being overwhelming. The food was amazing! We had the dumpling appetizers and they were spectacular. They were full.of flavor and shaped like little flowers. I ordered the red curry with duck, which was cooked to perfection. My spice level was 3, and its comparable to a mouth full of jalapenos-probably spicy enough for most who like some spice but nothing extreme. My boyfriend orded the Earth, Wind and Fire at a level 2 spice. He hasnt eaten Thai food much before, but he loved this seafood dish. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food (comparable to eating at Chilis or Longhorn). I would without a doubt recommend this establishment to anyone who enjoys Thai or is looking to try something different!
Good for a second try. Need to taste some more dishes before a full review. So far this seem to be a hit or miss. Tom yum soup lacks a punch, kind of bleh. Green curry tastes authentic though. Pad Thai was good but remember to ask for extra lime or lemon. Fried rice was fried the way mom and dad does it, with little flakes of crunchiness in it. Feels industrial and lack the cozy atmostphere of a Thai restaurant. The portioned plating is too Western to me. Is all about the sharing.
On my first visit to any Thai place I will *always* get the Massaman curry. Its my standard dish and I use it to judge Thai places. If its good, I plan a second visit to try the Pad See Ew. So Ive been to Bai Tong twice now and I am left wondering....why the heck did I take so long to come here?!?Both of these entrees where very delicious and I can also highly recommend the cheese rolls as an appetizer. Ive never seen these on a menu before but they were amazing! Think of them as an upscale cross between a spring roll and a crab angle. The service here has been superb each time and I also appreciate the decor in the restaurant...not to mention the wonderfully powerful air conditioner they have which, in this heat, is very much appreciated.
The food and service were terrible. Lemongrass soup had no lemongrass in it, mushy chicken pieces and too many whole mushrooms so we sent it back. I ordered Basil Shrimp and asked them to add chicken. The dish came out within 5 minutes and it had NO shrimp. The server apologized and took it back and returned 3 minutes later with 3 overcooked medium shrimp mixed into a now cold Basil chicken and cold rice. After ignoring us for 10 minutes, another server asked if I wanted a box, I told her that I dont like the dish. She asked my husband if I wanted something else. He said, No and she promptly brought us the check which included the basil chicken. We wont be back.
Lovely atmosphere for a date, great service too. Best massaman curry Ive ever had! Well be coming back for sure! Also their traditional curries are gluten free, I did not get glutened from the Rama delight, massaman curry, or the tom kha soup, which is great because I have Celiacs.
Visited this establishment for my adopted sons´ birthday 10.19.2019 and what a great experience it was. Everyone enjoyed their meal. They had vegan and vegetarian options for my mother-in-law and son. I had the drunken noodles and the earth wind and fire. Level of hot was 5 level of taste was off the charts. My GF had what she always has and its panang curry. She totally enjoyed it and she wouks know as she is an expert on this cuisine. My son and mom had Basil fried rice and 3 flavor tofu with veggies. #Amazing
With the other reviews I was hoping for a good meal. I got the Basil duck, which is a house special. The precooked veggies that went under the duck and sauce was luke warm. The duck itself was over cooked, salty and greasy. When I opened my silverware there was a hair clip inside the napkin roll. While the service was attentive, they brought me the wrong check.
The flavor in the food was amazing. The only reason four 4 starts was the rice was a little firmer than my liking ans the thai fried rice tasted like Chinese fried rice. Other than that the Panang Curry and Drunken noodles were outstanding and the spice level was just right.
This is a popular Thai restaurant located in suburbs. You can probably tell by reviews that this place has plenty of fans and admirers.Starting off with the interior. Bai Tong is decorated with a cool and hip look with it dark tones that blend moder and traditional Thai design. The restaurant is laeges and has ample seating. The staff is very friendly and helping. If you are unsure about any options on the menu dont be shy to ask. They will give you a description of each meal as well as recommendations if you are unsure. The menu has all the staples of Thai restaurant like: pad thai, basil fried rice, and Thai coconut soup to name a few. Each option on the menu can be made spicy if thats what you want.. Check out the menu for more details.Taste wise this place hits its mark. Very flavorful and rich. Also very spicy as well. Be sure to order Thao hot if you consider yourself a expert spice lover.Overall, I highly recommend this place for any lover of Thai food and for those who want to try It for the first time.My Recommendations:- Basil Fried Rice-Thai tea
Horrible, never order from this place. We got soup instead green curry. They water it down so much. We also ordered basil thi chicken and it was a soup instead of a sauce.Wow never again! What an insult!I have never written a bad review to any business before but this was so bad that i just could not let it go.
Ussually i do not write reviews but this place is not worth good rating. Service is good, ambience is average and finally about food.. Its tasteless.I have been to many good upscale thai restraunts but this restraunts food doesnt have any taste. They do the fresh cooking but either the ingredients are frozen or not mixed with appropriately. I would not recommend this place for this price. It tated like cheap mall food.
Delicious! The food is fresh and cooked perfectly. The sauces are rich and not weak/watered down like most places. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I havent had anything I didnt like there which is very rare for me. I cant say enough good things about this place.
The food is pretty good albeit a little too much on the sweet side. The Basil Duck was a tinge too salty. But still very good. Im knocking off 2 stars for some very poor service. The servers are off in a corner where they cant see all the customers and they do t move around. I had to go pick up some extra plates myself. Had to walk over to them to ask for a refill of water. On top of that the waitress argued with me on how much sauce is enough for people! I vaguely remember eating here a few months ago and experiencing poor service then as well. I may try them once more. But if the service is bad again, Im not returning again.Update: dropped another star. The manager, Gai, proceeded to escalate a poor service to an unpleasant one. She continued to insist that if I hadnt shared the Panang fish with 5 people (actually only two people ate the fish), the sauce was sufficient. I kept explaining to her that I like extra sauce and I dont have a problem paying extra for it, but her digging in her heels got me even more upset and I told her I dont want to tip her, let alone the 20% tip she added to the bill because we were a party of five. After seeing where the conversation had ended, you would think that a manager would try to calm things down. She snapped back that its standard and written on the menu. Ill let Amex handle that. And I wont be back again.
I have been here twice once with my family and once with a friend and it was really good both times, everyone really liked what they ate and the staff seemed nice, I have two minor complaints first, this is nitpicking but if they could have put the different levels on the menu it would be easier to say what spicy level I would like. Second, wait times seems to be luck of the draw because first time it was like 5-10 minutes but second time it was more like 30-40 minuntes.
Decent food but TERRIBLE service. Glass comes out with lipstick. Had to get up to locate a waiter to assist me as well as inform them a customer had been waiting at the front door for a while. Also had to wait again for a waiter to return to give me a to-go box.. No one is attentive in this place and the second glass didnt have lipstick but had lots of suspect stains.
Rude employee came in to order food. The server in the front didnt even acknowledge me. Mind you he looking me in my face. Then a gentleman walks in behind me he speaks to him and then even all to take his over. Witch it didnt matter that I was standing in front of him.
Wouldnt get the Vegetable Spring Rolls again (and the sauce was alright).Wouldnt get the Wonton Soup again.(its chicken not pork or beef, by the way)The sake was OK.The Panang Curry was awesome.Spice Scale = 1 through 5. got #4.I would recommend going with a #3.Super Friendly & Attentive Staff.Clean Restaurant, Patio Area, Parking Lot, & (Mens) Bathrooms.

2022-03-18I was really craving Thai food and I happened to stumble upon this spot! They do have a shortage of staff but the service was perfect. They were all so nice and answered my questions. I got my food relatively quick which granted it was empty but they got it made pretty quick. I always love Thai curry and this was no exception. All in all, I loved everything I tried minus the dumplings which came off a little dry. I would come back just for that curry alone and they seemed to have a nice selection of other amazing items.

2022-04-26I heard this place was good for Thai food. I have ordered basil fried rice with chicken here. Portion and quality is good for the price. Taste was good but a bit salty for me. May be it happened for this order.I will definitely visit this place again and try their drunken noodles.

2022-04-07Based on the reviews, I thought we would try something new.Bad decision.I should have known when I saw the sign on the door that this was not a good place to dine. It said that because of shortage of staff, 18% TIP was added to all orders. The sign doesnt really make sense, and a restaurant that has to add a tip means they are having issues getting a good tip from customers.Anyway, my daughter ordered a wonton soup. It was awful. It had some combination of spices that really should not be there, including a minty taste. My other daughter ordered a chicken dish, and the chicken was extremely dry, like it had sat around and dried out.I ordered volcano chicken. Again, the chicken tasted hard and dry. It was obviously reheated chicken. It was pretty obvious too. In addition, all of the meals were pretty bland, with very little flavor. This was the first time in a long time we chose not to take leftovers home. I get that there is a shortage of workers and we are coming out of a pandemic. But we paid 70 bucks for really awful food that we ate less than half of. This was really unacceptable. I guess I know now why they have to add a tip to the meals.First and last time.

2021-10-24I love noodles so pad see ew has been my dish whenever dines there. Suggest to add extra eggs and if u can eat spicy food, adding their chili oil will take the flavor to a different level.

2022-08-12It was only okay! Ive had better tasting Thai food. The Red Thai Curry I ordered had no depth of flavor and seemed watered down. The service was good and dishes were served in a timely manner. I made a reservation via the google assistant app, unfortantely they were not expecting us, but accomadated us nevertheless. Gratuity was included for our party of 9. The restaurant felt outdated and dark, dont think Ill be back.

2022-04-10Dont call it a tip when its really an 18% additional fee. I tip between 15-25% normally so you didnt get any additional monies from me but I felt like I got less service since tip is guaranteed and took away my ability to gift for good service.Food was okay. I enjoyed and left full and content.

2019-02-22Love this spot for lunch. They have so many great dishes that put a spin on Thai dishes to americanize them. The starter platter is fantastic. They bring out their house soup with a lunch ordered entree. Good stuff. They will make it however spicy you want. Just need to specify the degree of spicy. I love their beef red curry. The chicken jubilee is good. The volcano chicken is good. Uncle Bobs chicken is good. So many good dishes. Could eat here 3 times a week if I could afford it. If you enjoyed this review please be sure to hit the like button. Thank you!
