Looking for sweeping backdrops of perfectly manicured green and endless blue sky on your wedding day? Then Bears Best is the place for you, and we love working with them! Our Photo Booth nestles beautifully into the corner in their ballroom, which has large windows overlooking the golf course. Natalie is a delight to work with, and our guests always have a blast when we work here! I guess when youre in a space this elegant, letting loose in front of the camera becomes even more irresistible!
The course is meh. It could use some cleaning up during fall since leaves are piling up on the entire course. The $100 fees are not worth the current conditions. The fairways are…boring. Nothing remarkable or challenging about them. Most of them are pretty wide and long but that’s all there’s to them. The greens are hit-or-miss, with a lot of them needing significant upgrades. Fall is definitely not the best season to play here.I should also mention that a lot of the patrons I ran into are pretty rude and unwelcoming. It’s weird but not surprising for a course in Georgia. On the plus side, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Course was in wonderful shape. Enjoyable experience overall. However... a ranger approached us (we were a twosome alone), on about the 12th hole and asked us to speed up our play as there was no group ahead of us. There were also no groups behind us... so we were a bit confused by this request... why the push?
The price was far cheaper than Lanier Islands, The Manor and St Marlo. The layout was solid but…the greens were not great. The bunkers were in poor shape and mostly unraked. Ball marks everywhere on greens, some fresh but most were not. The clientele has a lot to do with it but try harder, hire people to fix ball marks and rake bunkers, give out ball repair tools, review policy with guests, etc. Concentrate more on course condition than the pace of play. Communicate better on the holes where it is cart path only. Provide consistent performing golf carts, ours was intermittent with speed control.
Good golf course? Yes. Great golf course? Id say no. In fact, I would rate BB as the most highly overrated golf courses in the area. While they give you a feeling of semi private gc promoting Jack Nicholas, the course and especially the staff is far from that. Definitely over priced. There are much better courses to play at better prices.
The course was fun, but challenging. We let 2 groups (1 a twosome) through and no one was behind us after that, yet we were told by the marshal to play best ball and then told again to pick up pace, although no one was remotely close to being behind us. Our pace on the cart was behind because we let those groups through and once when we were getting snacks from the cart girl and worked perfectly to let a group through. Besides these guys all the other staff was excellent. It was unfortunate we had those 2 sour our round and experience.
This was not a good experience for me at all playing Saturday 14th Nov. I had played at Bears best before and enjoyed the course. This time it was very slow only managed to play twelve holes before it got dark and waited over 10minutes each hole. waiting started from 1st hole. This has put me off returning to the course. i was a three ball playing behind a two ball and pretty sure they were waiting also. All of a sudden on hole 9 we see a one ball. I really should have not played. Its a weekend the marshalls should do better for pace of play
Its a very nice course. The amenities were pretty good. I do feel as if they were sly about the cost of a full round of golf. When we called and asked for the cost, we were given $69 and not informed of any other charges. Well, we were notified on the back end of a $30 cart fee (Which is another issue but whatever lol). We felt a little bamboozled in order to get us out there and even a member of the course conveyed the same sentiments. Dont get me wrong, its nice and was a fun round. But, youre definitely paying for the name because the course wasnt worth that.
This was a nice course but I have to admit that the green fees were a little steep. If Im paying over $100 a round I would expect at least GPS in the carts. The course was maintained well but be careful, greens are very hard to read. All in all a good course but I think for the money there are better out there.
It’s fun a course. Each hole is interesting in its own way. Greens are getting better, but were in rough shape the last few times I played. My biggest issue is the staff. They’re not friendly (unless you’re a member) and a couple Marshals are just ridiculous when it comes to pace of play. As a foursome we finished our last round in just under four hours and waited on the group in front of us almost every hole, but that didn’t stop the Marshall from speaking to us 3 times about pace. Another round we were 2 minutes late to the box because someone forgot their phone in the car. The starter sarcastically said he almost scratched us. Meanwhile the group in front was just pulling off!
This is a great course that is a compilation of Nicklauss best holes. Some are extremely challenging, while others are wide and friendly. The course is kept very nicely and I always enjoy playing here. They lose a star because they no longer have the setup at the turn for food and snacks.
Course is in great shape. Bent grass greens. Superb practice facilities. Corporate events sometimes take up tee times. BYOB, as no turn station, and if they have a beverage cart out, it tends to stop early. Must go through neighborhood gates and show ID, but no parking fee or anything.
Bears Best is a golf course dedicated to the design genius of Jack Nicklaus. All 18 hours are designed according to his most famous holes from courses around the world. Fun to play, but challenging. Fast greens and tough approaches make this a one of a kind golf course.
A great place to golf. They have a driving range, there are lessons and summer camps, a chipping green, and two putting greens. They have a golf course that Jack Nicklaus designed, and are various holes from around the world. There is also a restaurant and a golf shop. Overall I love going here and I always have fun when I do.
I dont really love the variance of the course - but that is of course by design. I think its a little too expensive for what it is, but its in good condition. The greens are in very good shape and roll pretty true. Its a but short from even the back Tees, but is good for groups with variance between handicaps. Is go again, but its a hike from the city. Theres other course closer to the city I would go to first.
Im giving 2 stars since this used to be a premier course and experience. The rates havent changed but the course is an embarrassment to the Bear. 100+ ball marks every geeen and the tee boxes are beat up. Overall the maintenance is severely lacking. The cart guys said its a public course so its expected. No. its your attitude that makes the course bad. A real shame as I stated, it used to be great.
My first thought was nice club house friendly service. Then i get to the first green they were terrible ball marks everywhere surface unputable, Fairways were not as good as courses where i normally play for half the price. The tee box grass was high had to tee the ball up high. For the price not worth the trip will not play there again. Jack would not be proud of his best holes....:-(
Really looked forward to playing this course for my annual golf outing. Unfortunately, it fell way short of my expectations. The tee boxes were way too long, and in terrible shape, even the highest tee still didnt matter. The fairways were longer then expected and were no where near the proper conditions. The greens were a disaster and a mess - marked all to hell, and very rarely had a true read. I will be writing a letter to the general manager. This course if not worth even any discounted rates. Do yourself a favor and keep your car and drive and go play another course... VERY Disappointed.
Our wedding at Bears Best was phenomenal !! We couldnt have asked for a better wedding. The ceremony and reception was exactly how it was planned and the food was amazing ! The staff went above and beyond to make sure it all went extremely well. Kudos to the staff Mitch, TJ, Emily and the rest of the staff at Bears Best. A special thank you to Natalie for everything she has done and then some. There is no way we could have pulled off such a perfect wedding without her. She was with us from the beginning all the way to the end of the wedding and made sure everything went as planned. I would highly recommend having your wedding at Bears Best! Thank you Bears Best !!
Gorgeous course, fun to play through all the courses from around the world, a good challenge... Just dont play it on the weekend, we played a twosome in 4:50, some real slackers out there trying to impress PGA scouts and no help from the Marshalls besides mentioning theres a backup
Since I couldnt figure out how to write multiple reviews, here is my first review before our trip even started:Will play the course in two weeks. Traveling from Michigan to play around Atlanta. Marty in golf shop was very friendly and easy to deal with. Since I’m not from Atlanta he recommended other great courses to play. Stone Mountian. The Frog, and Lainer Legacy! Looking forward to meeting Marty and buying him a drink when I see him!!My second review after playing the course:Let me just say that Marty, Ian and the staff did not disappoint. If we didnt have an afternoon tee time at another course, we would have just hung out at Bears Best for a long time. The next time we come, we will play this course every time!My brother, son, and I have played many top notch courses in our life, including Pebble Beach, Links at Spanish Bay, Arcadia Bluffs, Tobacco Road, and Pine Needles (all amazing courses), but I have to say, Bears Best had to be in my top 5 ever played, and when you throw in the hospitality, friendliness, beer selection, and most importantly the GPS units on the course, which included music apps and speakers in the cart!!! We have played a lot of courses with GPS systems but this the first that had on cart music!!!! We listened to 80s all morning! I recommend all courses follow the gold standard that Bears Best has set!The course was absolutely stunning, with all holes mimicking favorites of the Golden Bear himself from around the world! If you dont play this course while in Georgia, and even in your lifetime, you are truly making a disservice to yourself. The homes on the course are all incredible, and not in a condos surrounding the course sort of way. There are not many homes visible on the course, but the ones that are will take your breath away, including local star Michael Jenkins and Jason Veritek from the Red Sox.If you are coming to the area for Masters week, this course is only two hours away to the west. Well worth any trip you are considering!! The prices are super reasonable. Please come and say hi to these guys. Very top notch, professional, and very funny. The top golf trip I have been on in my life and we were only in Atlanta for two nights, which included flying in from Detroit. The Youngsbtw, the courses that Marty recommended were very beautiful and worth of recommendations to, but none of them could come close to Bears Best.
Hosted a Charity event at this location. The event coordinator and her entire team were amazing. They fulfilled every detail of my request as I discussed with them, and the set up turned out to be just as I envisioned. They provided excellent service, and I’m so glad I chose Bear’s Best Atlanta.
Played here twice so I know what’s up. The pro shop staff is horrible (rude, dismissive, disrespectful), the timing is too tight (8 mins a hole on a short ass course) the price too high and the course too short. DO NOT GOLF HERE! They do not care about you or your business. Really a badly run course.
Beautiful golf course with replica holes from the vast Nicklaus library of golf holes. Although the course had recently been aerated, Bears Best Atlanta was in fantastic shape and not many people were playing. Really fun golf course to play and I would highly recommend it for anyone traveling to or living near Atlanta!!

2022-06-21I absolutely loved it here! I visited this place for The Graduation Party of my friends son. The grounds were well maintained and the lawns were well-manicured. The catered food was delicious and the venue was very clean and spacious and decorated beautifully! I would definitely visit this place again to golf; it is outstanding!!

2022-05-02Staff was friendly. Course is just in ok shape right now. Greens had been punched a couple weeks prior but were still rolling well. Some tee boxes could use some improvement and areas around the greens. Expected better conditions for the price. Great variety of holes though.

2022-04-21Had a wonderful time at the event yesterday! Everyone there was having a good time, the greens were nice (I dont play but they looked like a nice course) and theres tons of wildlife. If I played golf Id 100% want to come back here and play a round.

2022-05-28Played Friday, May 27. First time there. Practice area was excellent. Course is aesthetically pleasing. Par 3’s are the stars here. First three par 5’s are pretty bland. A few strong par 4’s. The replica feature is lost if you haven’t played the actual holes. Downside was bumpy, sluggish greens and significant hard pan and weeds around the chipping areas. Worst features were the bunkers. They either need more sand or get a machine in there to turn it. Barely any loose sand above the hard underbase. I’d say it was a 3.5 star experience, but at $120 on a Friday, this was a poor value, dropping it to 3 stars.

2022-03-03So, my girlfriend is still trying to understand that golf courses are not on her time like everything else in her world so she was 20 minutes late to a tee time that was set for 9 AM. They were booked with tee times until 11 AM. However, Ian and Bob worked some scheduling and logistics magic and got us out for a 10:21 Tee time. They both calmed us down and made us feel comfortable in a stressful situation. Any golf course or company would be extremely lucky to have Ian and Bob on their team. I can’t thank them enough. The golf course is in great shape and the greens are pretty much perfect. It is not an easy course but it is also not the toughest course either- so in my opinion, it is the perfect blend for the 18-24 handicap golfer. Thank you again to Bob and Ian going above and beyond for their customers! I can’t wait to go back and play the Bears Best golf course. I give the course and Ian and Bob my highest recommendation and I don’t do that often.

2022-04-16Honestly for the price to play that course was way overpriced. The greens were awful just redone and sandy. The pace of play was way off and no ranger to keep the pace going. That was not a course that lived up to the standard of that sort of pricing. Not worth $75 a person.

2022-05-15Course needs a makeover.I would have thought more of the facilities, and the golf staff seemed to be annoyed we were there.Others service staff was great.

2021-03-23Early in the season but tee areas were in good shape and so were the fairways. Greens were ok but like I said its still early. Fun track. Ill be back to play here again.i like the black sand on one of the holes.
