Becks in other cities:
One of the best places in town to go to for oysters and other types of seafood. I had a wonderful meal here and the atmosphere was catchy. You might have a wait here if you dont make a reservation so I highly recommend that you do. They also have a great beer selection so that was an added bonus for me.
Great service even though they were slammed! So much food we had to get a to-go box and Corey was a first class server. One of the best dining experiences in Augusta. Great team here, as our drinks were being served to our table almost as fast as we ordered them. Do yourself a favor and reserve a table now.
We were in town for the Masters and looking for something out of the ordinary. All four of us had a superb meal, starting with the oysters. Shrimp bisque was exceptional and the filet was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful. But the star was the fried lobster tail. Service and ambiance top notch also. All item were delicious!
Becks is absolutely delicious! You can walk in...need a wheelbarrow to get out....its that good! Ask for Sara. Shes a dream. The oysters are fresh from cold waters. Trip is the oyster guy there. Hes so cool. Everyone..treat yourselves. You will LOVE it! Only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Make a reservation with open table. I cant say enough about this incredible restaurant. We ALL need to treat ourselves. GO to Becks. On Kings way. You will be SO happy!! If you want a delicious cocktail....the Hill is the BEST drink Ive ever had! Enjoy yourselves!
I visited Becks on Valentines Day for dinner on a double date. Customer service was excellent. Our waitress was Kim who had excellent customer service and was very welcoming. For starters we chose the oysters 12 count. They were so delicious that we ordered a second helping. We had the fried lobster tail, salmon, steak, grouper and everything was perfectly seasoned. We will definitely drive the 2 hour commute to come back from Atlanta.
A total fine dining experience, but no jacket required. Specialty cocktails, wine and beer lists, mouth-watering appetizers, plus a full menu as well as specials from the chef. If you want oysters in Augusta, then Becks is your destination. The wait staff knows their stuff, stopping by just enough without being annoying. And do make reservations.
This was a great restaurant! My family and I went here after my brothers graduation! I got the salmon. It was very yummy and came with rice, veggies, and a wasabi sauce. We got the bang bang shrimp appetizer which was delish. The restaurant was very classy looking and all the waiters were great! They were all very attentive and kind and very knowledgeable of the menu. Awesome spot in Augusta!
Hands down one of the best hidden gems in Augusta. Everything from the Bloody Marys, extensive scotch menu, delicious food, friendly staff and laid back atmosphere this place is sure not to disapoint. My husband and I went there for the first time Friday night and we have already talked about going back this weekend and sit at there oyster bar. I would definitely recommend making reservations because this place feels up fast.
Not a good experience at all! We got to the restaurant at 5:30, it was not even 1/3 full. The hostess said we can set you at the bar, because the tables are taken. We said, are the tables in the back taken as well? Then she finally seated us in the back room. We then placed our order for a dozen baked oysters and our Entrée. We got 6 of our oysters 1 hour later and they were cold, then 20 minutes later we got the other 6!! We ask the waitress, what was going on with our order? She said they were backed up in the kitchen, but the restaurant was only 1/3 full! Finally, at 7:15 we got our entree, and it was Luke warm. Also, be fair warned, the staff is not abiding by the CDC guidelines. No social distancing here or mask wearing!! Only a few servers had a mask on. We will not be going back to this restaurant!
One of my sides were missing but waitress quickly addressed it. The entree was excellent and the drinks were good. We ordered a brownie desert and the brownie on top was basically a rock, you couldn’t eat it. We didn’t have to say anything to the waitress, she knew it wasn’t edible and comped it. Our waitress was great. Probably the most frustrating thing with our experience was the restaurant didn’t appear to be enforcing any CDC guidelines - no distancing of tables, and it seemed like wearing masks was optional. It appeared half of the staff, were not wearing masks. None of the management was wearing a mask. For a fine dining restaurant, meeting these guidelines is more or less a standard expectation. Unless you’re a COVID denier, probably hold off on eating here until you and your family get vaccinated.
We were invited here as part of a wedding rehearsal dinner so I was not familiar with Becks. Although we were a fairly large party, the wait staff did a really good job at keeping our drinks filled and food coming. The food was delicious from the appetizers to the key lime dessert was very good. One thing that was lacking was a kids menu. We did have a specified menu for our group so maybe there is one for the restaurant, but it wasnt included on ours. All in all....HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Good food and drinks and an enjoyable atmosphere. Seafood focus on the menu options and oyster specials. Minus one star for portion size compared to cost: for Augusta it was a bit pricier than I expected. Small plates we ordered were not great for sharing. Small glasses meant a lot of visits by the staff for refills, but they were attentive. I felt like they were aiming for an upscale seafood restaurant with southern charm and doing a pretty good job at it.
We made reservations and visited Beck’s for Valentine’s. A couple of our friends have always told us great things about the food and atmosphere so we looked for forward all week to our dinner. We invited another couple to join us and were not disappointed! Everything was phenomenal! For appetizers we had the fried pimento cheese hush puppies, blue point oysters, the Hunt’s style oysters and regular Baked oysters. For entrees we had the Flounder Boat, the Filet and the Braised Short Ribs. And for dessert we had Key Lime Moose, Double Chocolate Cheese cake and fresh Strawberry Cake. Along with some fantastic libations it made for a perfect evening with great friends, great food and long lasting memories. I’m sorry that we did not take any photos, you’ll just have to take my word for it. We highly recommend Beck’s for any and all occasions and will be going back soon.
Food was good, felt fresh, well spiced & balanced flavors... Oysters were ok, probably the best in the area... On cocktail drinks they need to do better, I tried 3 different ones, all Bourbon base, there were too sweet or too sour. The Bourbon the use is cheap, no flavor or body... I did not finished neither one and wake up next day with a headache, like when you drink the whole bottle... I will recommend the food and the oysters nothing else...
The food was phenomenal. Prefectly prepared and tasted incredibly fresh. The drinks were on point, too. The best part was the wait staff, though. Our server made great recommendations, was fast and attentive, and found the balance between checking on us and not lingering over us the entire night. Would definitely go back when I come back to Augusta.
We were in town for the Masters and looking for something out of the ordinary. I sat at the bar and had a few cocktails off of their menu. Stephen recommended a few that were EXCELLENT! All four of us had a superb meal, starting with the oysters. Shrimp bisque was exceptional and the filet was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful. But the star was the fried lobster tail. Service and ambiance top .
This place is awesome. I have searched high and low for nice places to eat in Augusta, and this is the first one I have found. First we had oysters baked with asiago (yum). For dinner, I had the grouper cooked to perfection with roasted potatoes and creamed spinach. The flavors of the dish worked perfectly together and was cooked so nicely. The atmosphere is friendly and cool. I will most definitely be back often with my husband.
I have eaten here many of times in the past and their food deserves 5 stars. However, I am giving a 2 star review because Becks does not follow any CDC guidelines. The place was packed, no masks on any customers waiting for drinks or tables, and the bartenders/waiters were not even wearing masks. I am appalled and disturbed by this and something needs to be done. I was seated at the bar with my mom to eat, and we were bombarded by people the entire time leaning around us to drink (none of them wearing masks). I recommend the food and drinks, but something must be done about the poor management decisions about COVID-19.
One of the best restaurants I have EVER been to in any city. We are not local but stopped there on a road trip. It was to DIE for!!! The food takes a little while to come out but its worth the wait I promise! I moaned through the entire meal. Also, the BEST oysters I have ever had! They had so many kinds to choose from which was super neat! Hoping to pass through Augusta again just to eat there!! YUM!
Deceptive in size. If just two people they sit you in small booth along a hallway, which took away from the atmosphere. The smoked chicken wings were out of this world. Service was good. I had the cowgirl ribeye and it was average (lots of fat and very little meat). I would not recommend it. Felt like I could get the quality at outback for less and bigger steak. My wife had the salmon and said it was good but the rice was much better. All in all I would go for the appetizers and drinks while skipping the main course.
We eat here as often as possible. The food is always flavorful and delicious. Service is excellent. I usually order the Apple salad and shrimp bisque and enjoy a signature cocktail. Makes for a lovely, relaxing meal. My husband orders the oysters. He was raised in NOLA and says they’re the best he’s ever had! PS. Summer’s cakes are worth the calories!
I was with a group that met in the private dining area. We were greeted warmly and given full attention by the wait staff. The food was delicious and the atmosphere accommodated normal conversation. I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Po-Boy. Others at my table were impressed with their meals, too. I will visit, again, soon.
Stopped in for a meal on a Saturday evening. The place is tucked off in the cut, but this place is a gem. The setup is refreshing with both a regular bar and an oyster bar that sits in the middle of the restaurant right after you enter. They have intimate dining in a perfectly lit hallway that makes great use of space. The Fried Lobster was amazing, this is the only place besides the Bahamas where I have found this delicacy and they really delivered! The sides were wonderful as well. The baked Oysters with Jalapenos and a three cheese blend were splendid as well. Please stop here to enjoy a fairly priced meal!
As soon as my husband and I walked into the restaurant the hostess immediately asked if we had reservations. We said no then asked if reservations were required. The hostess then said that reservations were not required which we already knew because we have eaten here in the past (its been a while). Then she says my manager is in the back trying to see if we have room (Im thinking well how does your manager even know we are here and that we need a table). My husband and I went to the restroom then come back and the hostess says to us Im sorry we do not have any room. I said thank you and we left. I called back and asked to speak with the manager and explained to her what had just happened. I told her that I am not sure why we were not given the opportunity to wait on a table but instead we were told they did not have any room. Well she did not try to make matters any better and immediately started making excuses. She said well the kitchen closes at 9. It was only 6:30 at the time that I spoke with her and they had only been opened an hour. None of it made any sense to me so I thanked her and told her we would take our business elsewhere. She did not even offer us the opportunity to come back in to wait on the next available table. Nor did she apologize or try to resolve the issue. I will never recommend this place to anyone nor will I EVER return.
The service here is absolutely outstanding. The shrimp bisque was outstanding though. It had a bit of a kick to it which I didnt mind but it may be too spicy for some people. We will definitely be back as we were impressed with the whole experience. I like that it isnt located downtown so that you dont have to worry about parking or anything on a busy weekend.
I have been to Becks a few times now for work and family dinners. The service is always good, and they have a nice assortment of cocktails. However the food ranges from average to downright foul. What finally motivated me to write this was a barely edible dish tonight (lost interest about a 1/4 of the way through) that left me with an upset stomach. Really disappointing.
Excellent seafood, friendly service and a great bar area make this one of the best upscale restaurants in Augusta. Weve always had prompt and friendly service, great wines and awesome seafood. Bar area and oyster bar make front room fun and lively. Prices are reasonable for the high quality food and service.
We walked in without a reservation as party of 6. They were hesitant but, were able to make a table. AMAZING customer service and food. Bar cocktails presentation and taste were perfect! The interior is beautiful and the servers are well versed and knowledgeable. They have cute date night(2people) booths. Suggest making a reservation everytime. Everyone within my party was more than happy with the food. It was alittle pricey but, worth it.
The service is friendly and FAST. I dont know who is that kitchen, but let me tell you... Ive never waited longer than 10 mins for my food. And its always hot and fresh. Five stars. Not many cars were there but it was near closing so we gave it a try. Big booth seats with spanish decor all throughout.
I was at Becks about an hour ago and it was less than a stellar experience. The online menu is NOT up-to-date. The tables they seated my party of two in were tiny. I do have a 36 waist and am 61 tall, but my elbow could not leave my side closest to the wall. We ordered half a dozen Hunts Style oysters (they were the highlight of the evening, Frog Hollow Taverns are better), shrimp bisque, and andouille oyster soup (Venison Chili not on the menu). They were okay to good (the oyster soup could have benefited from some seasoning). We ordered the Salmon and Fried Lobster Tail (Cowgirl Ribeye not on the menu). After having our dinner order in for about 20 minutes we overhear the waitress telling the table next to us about the specials. I chose the Salmon because the ribeye wasnt on the menu. There was also a redfish and/or grouper that I could hear. I sure wish I had asked for the specials but, do I really want to dine somewhere I need to ask?
We had reservations at 5:30. When we arrived we requested a booth, which were all empty, except for one. We were told they were all reserved so we couldnt sit there. Only 3 more parties showed up while we ate our dinner and most of the booths remained empty during our 45 minute stay. It made us feel unwelcome and like our reservation didnt matter to the hostess. We decided to leave and get after dinner drinks and dessert elsewhere. Otherwise, the food and drinks were ok.
Really fantastic dinner a while back prior to heading back to afghanistan on a deployment to celebrate my fathers birthday. The owner was particularly kind and thoughtful - I highly recommend becks not just for awesome food and service, but for the consideration and thought that goes into treating each individual guest as valued diners!
Very good service. Our party of four all enjoyed their food. The ceasar salad was not as expected. It is presented as four leaves of romaine with lots of parmesan, a crouton and two anchovies. Apparently there was supposed to be a dressing but it was undetectable. Raves for the venison chili appetizer and the shrimp bisque appetizer. Entree portions were more than adequate.
Oysters and service was good, place was super crowded with no where to stand, we were in a small booth in the hallway which was a nice spot but people were standing and talking right above us, it was irrattating trying to have a nice quiet dinner. Not a romantic spot at all for date night. food was good though.
I love love love this place. This was my staple for solo, date, or group dining. It is truly always my pleasure. I have favorites and I usually never deviate ... Baked Oysters, Fries, and fried green tomatoes. Im almost always a wine drinker here. Im a South African Chenin Blanc fan although today Im having another Blanc. Not sure which one.
The Worst Customer Service Experience!!!After traveling 5 hours to attend a friend’s birthday dinner and business launch,I was highly disappointed with the service I received at BECK’s. We arrived to our reservation at 7:00pm and was not served until 9:50pm. Our server Natalie was lacking in knowledge and information about the menu. She was very snippy and rude whenever she came to the table. We tried to be as very understanding as possible until Brittney the acting manager of the night came to our table and told us that she squeezed us in, basically a conscending way of saying that we shouldnt have a problem with an almost 3 hour wait for a meal. Mind you, we made our reservations a week in advance. Arent managers suppose to be there to provide outstanding service, answer complaints, and come up with solutions for customers??? Not blame them for the restaurants shortcomings and discourteous service. Our experience at the restaurant ruined the whole tone for the rest of our night. BECKS is this how you treat your paying customers?Oh yes, I forgot about the food. After waiting almost 3 hours for food and receiving horrible service, I was hungry, irritated, and let down. My experience was so bad I didnt have an appetite anymore.

2022-02-26Food was great. Service was great. They need to commission some local artwork for the walls, especially the back of the restaurant. They needs to design the bathrooms better. Would have loved to see a seafood pasta or a bouillabaisse on the menu! They don’t serve bouillabaisse anywhere in the area, and of all the local restaurants, I think beck’s would be the best option to offer that dish. Jalapeño margarita is great. We had Hunter style oysters, pimento cheese hush puppies, shrimp burger, and flounder. It was all great! Ask for some “Alabama white sauce.” I would say, I wish they also had a broiled oyster option like they do at Abel brown.

2021-12-05Becks is very nice, intimate spot for fresh seafood, friendly service, and nice ambiance. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and a must-try. They offer a variety of seafood from oysters, grouper, fried catfish, flounder, salmon, and halibut. They also offer options for non-seafood lovers like the fried chicken sandwich, steak, and pork chop. The drink offerings were vast as well as the desserts! The apple crisp was awesome! Becks is a great place for an intimate date night or group dinner with friends.

2022-04-26Im not really sure what kind of rating to give because on the one hand the food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. On the other hand, service was incredibly slow. Since Ive never eaten there before I dont know whether theyre just being affected by employee shortages or whether it always takes that long to get an appetizer.

2022-02-19A very memorable and enjoyable evening. My wife and I celebrated my birthday here. We enjoyed the Hunts Baked Oysters, the spicy fried shrimp, fried lobster tail and blackened grouper. Excellent food and excellent service.

2021-08-22Absolutely delicious. We hadnt been since 2yrs on Valentines Day. Our server Bri...was Absolutely efficient & very pleasant. So we had 830pm reservations my husband made & we arrived a little early. Waited for our table. We were sat at the wall going down the hallway to the bathroom & its just really small tables. Would have rathered a different area. We stayed at our ta le because it was late & I had to work in the morning.So... we ordered the special appetizer of their version of bang bang shrimp...delicious & had nice flavor & heat. We also ordered salads I had the Ceasar & husband had the beet. Both were refreshing & crisp. Now...we ordered an array of raw oysters & the baked ones with 3 cheese blend & ones with jalapeno...loves the 3 cheese blend & our picks of raw oysters were very good. We decided to try the pimento cheese hushpuppies...the only thing we didnt enjoy. No flavor & overly greasy. We let Bri know and she took care of it. Dinner was the grouper blackened with Hollandaise & potato....so good. I had the fried lobster with the most delicious tangy Asian dipping sauce. Dinner & overall was delicious & like always very pleased with our visit.

2022-06-26I called the day before our FORTIETH wedding anniversary and left a request on their voicemail for a 6:30 reservation. I gave both of our names and telephone # as well as requested time and that dinner for for our 40th anniversary.I realized we were running late so I called to let them know. MacKenzie (sp?) said we didnt have a reservation. I ran through the story and she said that there was no such message on their voice-mail because she was the person who called back customers. She did say that she would try to accommodate us. We were seated at a tiny booth in a heavily wait staff used hallway. We asked to be moved and even said wed wait. Mackenzie got just a little loud with my husband and reiterated that we didnt make a reservation to which my husband responded to by asking if she was calling him a liar. She raised her voice and asked my husband if he was calling her a liar. This young lady is 16. We are 60. We asked to speak with John (owner) and were told that he would be in shortly. My husband asked about a vacant booth at the front of the restaurant and was told it was reserved. Long story short, we ended up at the reserved table. We ordered the Hunt oysters and asked that they be prepared firm - they were not but we let it go. Our server Brie was great. We shared the filet entrée. While everything tasted okay, NOTHING was hot. Again, we didnt complain. John was literally sitting right next to us at the bar enjoying dinner with a woman that I didnt know. We waited until we were all done with our meals and made it a point to voice our concerns. He couldnt have cared less based on his response. We are now out $150.00 for a mediocre at best dinner. No happy anniversary, no apologies, no nothing! This was our first and now LAST visit. Thanks for nothing. Thanks for all but ruining a very special occasion in our lives. Mackenzie needs to learn respect - again, no apology AND raised her voice, AND basically called my husband a liar. BTW - a too short dress with sneakers isnt appropriate attire for a hostess! NEVER again!

2021-01-09Wonderful! Bartender Ali was so great and made a fabulous drink recommendation of the pomegranate mule with citron vodka. Just fantastic! The oysters, apple salad, and scotch egg were great starters and the filet was a great dish. Great food, delicious drinks. Highly recommend!!!!
