Great selection of craft beer and whiskey
Blue Sky Bar, like its extensive spirit selection, hosts a complex, earthy aroma. Large, woodpaneled booths provide excellent group seating, with many cozily overlooking the Universitys historic North campus.True to its name, the ceiling skylight drapes the main room in a pleasant half light, and the enclosed back patio courtyard provides a distinctly quotidian quality. Nestled above a top-tier taco restaurant and joined via back alley to Walkers Coffee Shop and Pub, Blue Skys location couldnt be better.
I ordered a beer and a whiskey on the rocks, totaling $6. Bartender served the whiskey with water and took a $4 tip for herself without asking if I wanted change.Otherwise a nice place to hang out, on weekdays I like to go here with a group of friends and sit outside.
The crab dip is exceptional, and quite large for the price. The Reuben is very good as well. Karaoke on Friday nights is good but has not caught on yet. The DJ is very personable, and suggests songs you have not attempted before as he listens to you perform. He hasnt missed for me yet.
Best bar in Athens for a quiet midday drink. Barkeeps during the day are friendly and competent. They dont have any coffee at all, though, so no Irish coffee, if youre up for that.
Sure I like going here with friends for a night out. But what I really love about Blue Sky is planning events here -- the person in charge of events is super easy to work with, and I can get a social gathering organized in a two minute phone call or a few text messages.
Favorite bar in Athens, typically much nicer and not as full as the other bars. Even when it is they have a good outdoor area that helps keep you away from the busier parts

Place was busy, took way too long to pour mixed drinks with the crowd they had. Evidently domestic beer was not being sold the night I was there. Revenue could double or triple if the bar sold beers instead of mixers all night.
Went here for an after-work happy hour. A good selection of craft beers on summer special for $3 and $4! Not crowded during the summers either!
The beer selection is impressive, but the whiskey selection is even better! Great place for a unique cocktail, or something more traditional!

2020-02-16I think this is the one of the classiest bars in the Classic City.The Blueberry Buck ($7) was delicious. It’s a little expensive for Athens, but they use nicer alcohol and the cocktails are more specialty, so the higher prices are justified.The music is low, so you can hear each other. They have a cute outside area.The bathrooms had soap and paper towels so yay for Blue Sky!Nice bartenders. We’ll be back.

2021-09-01Skylar was absolutely incredible. The life of the bar, her vibe was 100% the reason if go back again. She wracked her brains helping me find a beer I liked, but she did a good job. I highly recommend this place!

2021-09-18Favorite bar in Athens. The personnel here, including Jeff, are outstanding people with elite bartending skills and values. Best conversations and drinks in town. Bartender rates: Sikes > Alex > Warrior > Baggs. Best bar back = JT > Jack. Worst regular = Chad, best regular = Corinna.

2018-11-07Great atmosphere and drink selection! If youre looking for an esoteric bottled or can beer you may find it here! Musics not too loud and it usually isnt very crowded. At least compared to other bars downtown.Only negatives for me is the lack of much of a draft selection or a value menu section for those nights you want to get plastered but not feel it in your wallet.Overall a great place to chill with a few friends, especially if all yall like beer.

2021-06-21Very hip little bar tucked away in the center of the block. If you dont know where to look, its extraordinarily easy to miss. However, you would be missing out on a great dt experience. The bar is very classy inside, with booths for a cozy environment, as well as an outdoor seating area. Drinks are a bit high, but they also dont have low quality liquor. Their top shelf is a true top shelf.

2017-12-06Really cool bar in the heart of downtown Athens! Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always a perk when trying out a new venue. Blue Sky Bar is a perfect place to meet someone new for a drink, or the gather up with a large group of friends. The bar offers indoor as well as outdoor seating. It’s always nice to have options when weather permits. Drink prices are pretty much par for the course- the course being the vast number of other bar options in the area. One more cool thing (for those of us in the “older” crowd) is this is not your typical college-age bar. Late 20s and up should all feel comfortable in this atmosphere. Hope this helps, and hope you all give it a try!

2017-08-30As an adult - aka someone who graduated from UGA 17 years ago - I can say this is a great bar for grown ups in a college town. The bartenders are knowledgeable, the liquor and beer is varied and high quality and the setting is a little remote, up some secret steps, with gorgeous wood interior inside and a really cool outdoor deck open to the sky, with creative seating and strung with lights. When my husband and I are in town, we make it a point to drop by. He likes to try things off their extensive whiskey menu. I like exploring their creative cocktails. Weve gone a little early, or come late, and its been a really chill experience each time.

2019-12-11This place is a hidden gem. Over 200+ beers and an unending amount of liquor. Knowledgeable bartenders that help you pick the perfect drink. Such a great place to hang out inside or on the back deck. Love coming here!!!
