BluePearl Pet Hospital in other cities:
Excellent, compassionate, professional, affordable…..describes my experience today when I called and received emergency care for my dying cat. He is 15 years old and had stroke like symptoms from likely a brain tumor. Drea in reception deserves a crown and wings for her regal and angelic service. The vet tech assessed my cat at no additional fees to confirm what the right path of care would be to reassure me that euthanasia was the merciful thing. They provided their special room for just this purpose. They gave us all the time to prepare and have closure needed. The vet was gentle and kind and answered my questions and made me a part of the process as I desired. Thank you all
It makes me sad to see how low this place is rated, because my experience has always been so wonderful. And that was so kind, so much, and very comforting and informative, and made sure I didn’t spend a dime or that I needed to make sure that my sweet kitten taken care of properly. And I was repaired a lot more, I was so helpful with that many other things. I can’t imagine how hard this job may be, especially with high emotions and of all the pet owners, which is all understandable. It’s so evidence that these people love animals, our job is to trust them and help them help us. No question 5 stars.
Please. If you love your pet do not bring them here. I can’t speak to the practice as a whole, but the after hours care is horrendous. They do not have a vet physically in the building (at least they didn’t while I was there) and instead of being honest about that I was told that I wouldn’t be able to speak to the Dr for about 6 hours.I was assured that my dog (who had been hit by a car) would receive care. I just wouldn’t be able to speak to the vet. This was around 11:30pm/12am.The vet tech was reassuring and knowledgeable. She outlined the care he would need (imaging, sedation, wound care, blood tests) and gave me the price estimate. I told her to do any and everything they needed to.Since his care was my only concern, I stayed in my car for what turned out to be 8 hours. That entire time, I never received a phone call or an update. I asked for an update around 4am and was told that he had not been treated yet, but that he had been given pain medicine and was resting. When I was finally able to speak to the vet at 8am, she told me the exact same thing that the tech toldMe. She also informed me (inadvertently) that she had just come in. So my dog sat in the back of the clinic not getting the testing or care he needed for 8 hours. The vet went over the pricing, told me the minimum he would need is wound care. And that the other things (imaging, blood tests etc) were optional. When I asked her what she would recommend/ what he needed - she said all of them, but they were optional. I said very clearly that I was fine with the estimates (600 - 1700) and that I wanted them to do whatever he needed. She then informed me that I could leave to go change and he would be ready in an hour. Two hours later they called me to come pick him up. When I got there I found out that they had only done wound care. When I asked the vet about this she said that’s what I asked for. When I recounted our conversation she got visibly annoyed and said that there had been a communication breakdown and that she didn’t really think he needed the other services.I am lucky that he is going to heal, but we would have been better off finding another place or just waiting for his regular vets office to open. Please please please do not bring your pet here for emergency care. Sure the lobby looks nice and the people at the front desk are kind, but without an actual vet on the premises there is very little they can do. Misleading distressed owners who would do and pay anything to make sure their pets are well is a horrifying business model.
Blue Pearl is the best emergency vet that Ive ever been to. They saved my cats life a few years ago and any time afterwords that Ive brought my little girl to them, theyve handled it like true professionals (whether it was critical or my own paranoia). If your case is non-critical, you might have to wait a while but having been on both sides of it, Id rather wait knowing that they classify their intakes by severity properly than know a severe case is waiting due to patient intake order. Dr Di Cicco is in my option the best in the business in internal medicine and I could not be more thankful for his care in my cats chronic condition
I took my pet Claire here for emergency surgery a couple weeks ago. Dr. Lockwood and the emergency team took such great care of her!! I was very impressed with the level of care and compassion that each team member displayed --from the front desk to the doctors. Thank you so much!
As an individual that truly cares deeply for my furry family member, I could not have asked for more compassionate and thorough care for my pet. The front office staff was very understanding, and the medical staff was exceptional. I would continue to take my pet here for any condition that the regular vet could not handle. I’m grateful for this clinic and all the work that they do.
Dr. Lockwood is an angel who absolutely loves animals. She went out of her way to pick up a case from out of state, performing a very complex surgery on a stray dog who literally had no one, a dog who would have been euthanized if she had not received this kind of care that was not available to her where she was. The dog is in my care and is doing wonderfully now, and looking at her x rays, and her broken legs and pelvis and all the horrible stuff she had, I can not believe that she is running and playing and chasing squirrels like she is. What amazing work and what a kind vet! Blue Pearl is awesome.
Our pet had gotten very ill, and our primary vet completely failed to help with the situation. Showed up at Blue Pearl Howell Mill to find a well educated and courteous team ready to help. The real stand out was Sharmila who completed the initial triage. She was obviously well educated and provided easy to understand information as well as next steps.Hoping I have no reason to go back, but I wouldnt hesitate if needed.
Dr. Camp was very compassionate and took time to explain what was going on with our pup. We asked to talk to her multiple times and each time she came back and didnt seem bothered or annoyed. The front desk personnel were not the most friendly or helpful, but not a big deal.
Typical emergency vet. not to interested in helpfulness and I get it because theyre busy. but this is why I wont bring my pup back. simple estimates even a GUESTIMATE WITH VERBAL GUARENTEE of that not being the full cost would be sufficient but if an emergency vet cant even give an estimate with the highest cost then why use them?I guess more so if you dont care about cost. I will find another place to go to.thanks for the minimal help my pup did receive I appreciate that.
Very rude staff. They didn’t provide concise or clear information once you talk to any member on there team. Someone told me 1-2 hour wait for emergencies then somehow it became 4 hours. No one was helpful and although I waited over 2 hours it seemed like they didn’t mention or even wanted to tell me what was going on. I was referred here by my primary veterinarian and I’m very displeased they would refer animals to this terrible establishment. If your pet has an medical emergency it’s best to travel outside of the Atlanta area to find the best pet care. If you pet was on their death bed they wouldn’t care.
Very poor experience with bereavement care here. Tech was unfriendly and unsympathetic upon arrival. Medical documentation post bereavement didn’t reflect the assessment that had been verbalized to me by vet and I what my husband and I made medical decisions based on. Highly upsetting to see such conflicting documentation with what was verbally relayed to us based on vets assessment and what was actually documented in chart. Was unable to stay with my dog due to covid visitation rules despite his poor prognosis and paralyzed condition. In comparison, Blue pearl sandy springs was a 10/10 so would highly recommend using them apposed to blue pearl westside.
BluePearl cares nothing about helping sick animals or providing much needed service to pet owners during after hours. Charging exorbinent fees is their primary focus. I called today to inquire about having my cats glucose monitor changed because her monitor stopped unexpectedly. This is a five minute procedure that allows her to continue receiving insulin and protects her from a low glucose event. The normal charge for this is $0.00 - $20.00. BluePearl would not do this for less than $165.00 for an exam and whatever other fees they would tack on. This is shameful and sickening.
Yea this place is not it. I called before I went and they seemed helpful…the young Indian lady didn’t want to help my puppy due to him “seeming fine”…my trip that day she states”is this your first puppy” insinuating that nothing is wrong…ma’am I know when my dog isn’t acting normal….then she “convinced” me to go home….Then OTW home my dog starts acting even more abnormal so I go BACK then after 30 min of waiting she states it’s a 4-5 hour wait?!? I asked if I could leave and come back..she stated no which was fine but then they called me an hour later about the dog being brought back..:seems as if she didn’t want to do her job in the first place. IT sucks Banfield referred me there.
I had a devastating emergency that Blue Pearl handled with extreme care, professionalism, and humanity. My sweet (otherwise healthy) pup became very sick very quickly and I had to take him to Blue Pearl. Though my dog’s condition was terminal and the shock of the loss has been very traumatic for me, I have nothing but positive things to say about Blue Pearl. Literally every single staff member we interacted with was so kind and sympathetic. The vets were extremely patient with me as I needed information repeated multiple times in order to process and make quick decisions. They were very communicative, clear, and honest. Initially, I paid a dollar amount based on the estimate I was given for what they anticipated my dog’s needs would be. A few days later, I was surprised to see that nearly half the amount I had paid was returned to my account. I was in no way expecting a refund of any kind yet without me asking, they refunded every cent of the services and medications that weren’t administered. I would definitely recommend Blue Pearl to anyone needing emergent vet services.
This Westside location cares ONLY about making money! Never use this location, BluePearl is an amazing vet but ONLY go to Sandy Springs. I have had several emergency doctors not treat my dog they way they should have, but charge the same rate no matter what. Sandy Springs is where to go, AVOID WESTSIDE LOCATION AT ALL COSTS - unless you dont care about your pet or overpaying for subpar treatment.
I was very impressed with the staff and the Doctor.(Dr.Janet B Wells) at the westside location in Atlanta. They all did a fabulous job taking care of my 6 month Chihuahua last night.. He had a allergic reaction and they really took care of him. If you all see this post Thank you so much!!! Pepper is doing much better..Thanks God for kind People like Yall..
Great experience on a very busy weekend. My dog came in on Memorial Day weekend when our usual emergency vet was posting a 6 hour wait. Blue Pearl said the wait would be 2-3 hours, but they ended up getting my dog in in well under 2. Emergency vets are definitely not cheap (!!!), but for what we needed, I thought the price was fair and in line with other Atlanta 24-hour/emergency vets. The doctor clearly explained all charges, offered several options for care levels based on what she was seeing, and listened to me throughout the process. Overall great care, and Id recommend Blue Pearl to others.
**UPDATE**Our Taco passed away yesterday. Eventually we spent $13,000 for test and examination including few days of hospitalization. They could not find out anything and Taco was too stressed and lost a lot of weight while he was in the hospital. I appreciate the vets and specialists in blue pearl for their kind concern and hard work but I don’t think I would ever let my pet to stay in the hospital next time. My husband and I think Taco could live much longer and less suffered if we didn’t take him to the vet to fix this white blood cell issue. When we took him from the hospital he was very sick and could not walk or stand well from antibiotics and steroid. He was not too bad before going to hospital. The treatment made him keep vomit, diarrhea, loss weight, refusing food, lost sensitivity.. he was a zombie when he came back from hospital. We are happy with our Taco and miss him so much. We regret and feel guilty to try the treatment that he had to suffer so much for last 2 months.—————————————————————My cat Taco got severe white cell drop and we had to hospitalize him for three days. Taco had a bone marrow test as well and the total bill for all treatments we’ve got was over $4,200, which was higher than we expected. We were very concerned about his recovery at the beginning but they call us twice a day - morning and evening to update his status and we could talk to the vet specialist whenever we had questions. That helped a lot. He seems a lot better today after 2days since he came back home. We are very happy to see our Taco is becoming and behave normal. We believe they did proper treatment for him.
Attentive staff, provides good care and does not try to offer or push services or diagnostic tests that are unnecessary. My pup was seen very quickly! However, we were the only ones in the waiting room at 10pm on a Thursday night. We were in and out in one hour. Felt like all my questions and concerns were answered.
I have four pitbull rescues and Ive had my share of ER visits due to ACL tears and skin allergies. Any time I have to go to the ER with one of them, I am a nervous wreck but the staff here shows such compassion that they put me at ease. This past Sunday morning (after experiencing a traumatizing ER visit in Fayetteville), I drove from Fayetteville to BluePearl Midtown because I knew they would take care of my baby, Cairo. He has never been to the ER like his other siblings so I was on edge. Nonetheless, I arrived outside, called the number @ 9 am and whomever picked up the phone was extremely attentive. About 40 minutes later, Dexter came out to get restless Cairo and took the time to make sure the paperwork was correct and Cairo walked inside with him as if he met him before. Side note: the previous day when I spent EIGHT hours at the VET ER in Fayetteville, Cairo pulled for his life as he was going in- I should have known then! Ok back to Dexter at BluePearl- long story short, I spoke to Dr. Johnson TWICE! I emphasized twice because I was only there for 2.5 hours from check-in to leaving. Dr. Johnson was empathetic and made sure I knew everything that they were doing and the cost BEFOREhand and I know youre probably saying, well, thats protocol. HOWEVER, please know that protocols are processes that one may choose to follow or not follow. Fast forward to discharge...Ill stop being longwinded, its just that...when you find people that care for your loved ones as much you do, you will drive to the ends of the Earth, if thats what it takes (or at least I will). Dexter was phenomenal at discharge, he went over the discharge paper, informed me about Cairos mental state and let me know what to expect. Thank you BluePearl Team...kudos to Dr. Johnson and Dexter for showing up on a Sunday morning. ***oh yeah and I am writing a review for the HORRIBLE place/experience in Fayetteville***
The teams and staff at BluePearl Westside are the best of the best. They saved my little guys life. I drove up (COVID) frantic because my kitty Oliver was hypersalivating. The team immediately took him back and found a large thymoma tumor upon xray. He was passed to the Oncology team and Dr. Evans and eventually the surgeon Dr. Lockwood took amazing care of him. Everyone we interacted with was amazing - shoutout to Austin for always being so nice and bringing Oliver out to us. They are so responsive and follow up immediately. Yes, the vet is expensive but its an emergency and specialty clinic. Thank you to the teams at BluePearl for saving Olivers life.
Dr. Caroline Monk is so kind, friendly, knowledgeable, gentle and compassionate. She actually took the time to come out to the waiting room to let me know shed be sure to bring my dog back to me as soon as she was finished with his procedure since she knew Id be waiting for him and not dropping him off. I thought this was very thoughtful of her to do. Dr. Monk and her assistant also showed a genuine respect of my knowledge as an owner who actively participates in performance events (Agility & Obedience) for the past 20 years. They understood how difficult the news of sudden blindness (SARDS) was for me since Im planning to show my little guy in his first obedience trial in just a few weeks. Were still hopeful with some adjustments in our training well have good news to report very soon :-)Thank you again very much to Dr. Monk for your respect and kindness. It was very refreshing and I truly appreciated it more than youll ever know.
This was my first visit to the Howell Mill location. I wasnt happy about not being able to go into the facility with my dog and waiting in my car but I suppose they are still being super cautious. The tech that came to my car to get my dog was extremely nice and helpful. Dr. Evans was extraordinarily kind and compassionate. Everyone was pleasant and they kept me informed about what was going on with my dog and how long the visit would take. Surgery was option for my dog but if I wanted to pursue that option, I was told I needed to make another appointment so the surgeon could examine my dog. I suppose I dont understand the need to have to make another appointment just to get the surgeons opinion. I would have preferred the surgeon review what was found by Dr. Evans and they could discuss what would be best for my pet and then inform me. Taking more time and coming in for more visits that are quite costly seemed counter productive to me since my dog had the evaluation and diagnosis performed the previous day. Other than that, I think this place is fantastic and I love the fact that they have so many specialists and they have always been compassionate and caring.
From my experience, there is a huge lack of communication between the staff here. First, they misplaced my dogs referral, told my vet later that they put it in the wrong folder, but were not apologetic to me at all. Secondly, I was told by multiple people that I would bring my dog in for his surgical consultation on Thursday and that he would have his surgery the following day, I planned accordingly and took that Friday off. After his consultation, Dr.Tulipan, who didnt even have the courtesy to come out and speak to me face to face, called and told me that we would not be getting surgery Friday and that we would have to wait until Monday, once again not apologetic at all. I did not feel comfortable leaving my beloved dog in these peoples care and I am glad I trusted my gut after reading these reviews. It is obvious that this company has a bottom line and is in it for the money.
COMPASSION! I don’t even know where to start, but I will start by saying that I never take the time to write a review. Unfortunately I had to put a dog down on a Friday and return the next Friday to find out that my other dog had passed away on his own. The entire staff there was immaculate, they were the most compassionate and sweet people that I have ever encountered. They know your dog by name and expressed condolences the entire time. They even sent a condolence card out to us in the mail. I just have no words for the experience that I had there but everything was amazing although the circumstances were not. Thank you to everyone working there, your hard work does not go unnoticed and you are appreciated!
Our first initial visit with our 7-year old English Golden, Murphy, was on Monday, Memorial Day, May 27, 2019. We were placed in a treatment room and after waiting +/- 2 hours, we inquired as to why it was taking so long for the veterinarian to come in and examine him. Response was they only had two veterinarians on duty and the hospitalized patients needed to be stabilized first before seeing walk-ins. After waiting approximately another hour, we ended up walking out of Blue Pearl on Monday without being seen by a veterinarian. So on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, we took him to Paces Ferry Veterinary to see his regular veterinarian, Dr. Beer. She examined Murphy and felt it was medically necessary for Murphy to have a CT scan. Dr. Beer put a referral in to BluePearl for the CT on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. On Wednesday, we returned back to BluePearl to see Dr. Monk, the ophthalmologist. Dr. Monk examined Murphy who still presented with the same symptoms of his left eye being painful, swollen and draining. His third eyelid was also prominent upon the visit. Even after we pointed out the swelling above Murphys left eye - Dr. Monk said she couldnt see any edema / swelling?! When trying to pet and rub Murphys head - he would shy away from allowing us to do so which is definitely a sign of pain. After Dr. Monk examined Murphy, she felt that this was simply idiopathic Horners Syndrome. This was determined after she placed drops in his eye and his third eyelid became less prominent. Dr. Monk felt it was not necessary to perform the CT scan and it would be more cost effective.Because Murphys condition deteriorated significantly, we decided to take him to the UGA Veterinary Hospital Emergency Clinic on June 6, 2019. The ER veterinarian decided to admit Murphy to the neurology/ophthalmology team for further observation. Both teams decided that a CT/MRI were both needed of his skull and brain. These scans revealed an invasive tumor in his left frontal sinus. The tumor had already eroded through his bony sinus and invaded into his brain tissue. It was explained that especially in the golden retriever breed that symptoms of which Murphy had were not just idiopathic as Dr. Monk diagnosed.Due to the tumors growth - resection of the tumor was not an option and radiation therapy would only be useful for palliative treatment. We were discharged with oral pain meds and to keep him as comfortable as possible. Humane euthanasia was also discussed. Unfortunately, Murphy fought for several days after getting back home until his pain became too much for him to endure. On Monday, June 17, 2019, Murphy gave us a clear signal he was ready. As hard of a decision as it was - we had to free Murphy of his pain and allow him to be at peace. If the CT had of been performed as the referral instructed - who knows - we might of had a better outcome. We feel strongly that Dr Monk missed a great opportunity to proceed with the CT scan as requested by Murphys vet, Dr. Beer.
I can not express how grateful I am to the staff of BP Westside. The care and compassion during a very difficult time was above and beyond. I wish I could bring my dogs to them for all their health needs and not just an emergency because if I could I would never go anywhere else. Thank you Dr Molina and staff. We were truly blessed to have you by our side during the loss of our beloved Nubby. Thank you a million times over for being such wonderful, caring people.
My dog Mac was cared for by Dr. Evans and the oncology staff for 16 months. Because of their excellent care and medical knowledge Mac far exceeded expectations throughout his lung cancer battle. I found the staff to be incredibly caring, compassionate, communicative, and responsive to our needs. We also received excellent care when Mac required emergency care on three separate occasions. Like most ERs, including those for humans, the staff must triage patients depending on the severity of their presenting condition. This means that less critical patients must wait longer regardless of when they arrive. I was aware of this and understood that wait times, especially during the pandemic, may be long. However, I was pleasantly surprised when Mac was admitting within 15 minutes of arrival on all three occasions that we presented to the ER (once was at 8pm, once at 4am, and once on a Sunday afternoon). Regarding fees, I believe they are commensurate with the level of care that is provided. When Mac experienced complications from one of his cancer treatments, I was able to bring him back to the hospital on the same day to be observed by the emergency staff at NO CHARGE.If my pets require emergency or specialty care at any point in the future I will bring them to Blue Pearl Howell Mill without hesitation.
I wish their sense of urgency and competence matched their high fees. It was just a bad experience all around. The technicians were pretty lax for this to be an emergency veterinarian clinic. Once my dog was finally seen by the “veterinarian” she asks me how to diagnose my dog or to consult with a friend. Again, the veterinarian ask me the non-veterinarian how to diagnose my dog or to phone a friend. I should’ve phoned the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine. She tells me she’s never seen my dog before so she can’t offer guidance… again, this is an emergency vet, it’s safe to assume she hasn’t seen most of the dogs that come in. Bottom line, they were absolutely no help. Do yourself a favor, this place has bad reviews for a reason.
Not sure what kind of animal hospital this is, but my mother brought our cat Maxwell there yesterday. His back left hind leg was already messed up. Sometimes he would limp when he walks, sometimes he wouldn’t. When my mother brought him back home, he was extremely skittish and now he limps every time he walks. It’s much worse than it was before. My mother explained to them that he’s geriatric, but it seems as though they handled him very roughly. The doctor’s name was Jessica Johnson, although I’m not sure if it was that person specifically that caused his leg to be messed up even more. He doesn’t even walk anymore. He’ll take maybe two steps and then he’ll sit down.
I called in because my almost 15 year old schnauzer was yelping as of hw were in pain, wobbling/zig zagging when he walked, breathing heavily, and displaying odd behavior. I was told the wait was about 2 hours. I drove there and arrived at 10:40pm. I was advised again the wait was about 2 hours. After about 3 hours and 10 minutes I call inside and ask if there was an update. They advised a per had come in critical but we were next. Ten minutes later a gentleman comes out and says again a pet just came in critical. He advised me the wait would be another 2 hours or so. This is after Ive already waited over 2 hours! Now, I understand a pet being critical, but if ONE critical pet shuts you down, you need to get better/more staffing. You are an EMERGENCY ANIMAL HOSPITAL! People dont bring their pets in just to say hello! Was there only one doctor working? Was there no one else who could continue to see the people who had been waiting for hours? The tech suggested that since my pet was stable I should just go home and try again the nest day. I am just baffled at the lack of capability to handle emergencies when that is literally your job. This was my first and probably last visit. The service stinks. Had I not called after 2 hours 10 minutes I wonder how much more of my time they would have wasted before telling me the clock was starting all over. God forbid another animal comes in critical. What then? Two thumbs down, and I pray you were able to save the pet.
We brought in a stray kitten that was attacked by our neighbors dog. At first they said they were full and couldnt take him, but after looking at him they decided the injuries were severe and took him back anyway. The doctor recommended euthanasia. Even though he was just a stray, they invited us inside to be there with him. The staff, especially the Dr., were so courteous and sympathetic through the whole process. I can only imagine how wonderful they are when its someones beloved pet saying goodbye. We were charged $130 for their service fee, the euthanization was free. A week later we got a sympathy card in the mail with a handwritten note & little paw print from our poor kitten, and we cried all over again of course but thought it was such a sweet gesture. Thank you so much to all the staff and doctors who did their best to help our poor little guy, and even took care of us after he was gone.
A big thank you to Dr. Seshadri and the lovely Kate for helping our sick dog in the wee hours. Its so stressful to have a sick pet and the excellent care, communication were top notch. It was actually very efficient as well. They explained everything as they went along and kept us updated while our dog was inside. Our pet has a chronic issue that were used to treating ourselves and the doctor actually listened and engaged with us on how we could treat our pet at home instead of being hospitalized. Thats very unique! Usually emergency vet visits feel a bit like a gouge. Thank you Blue Pearl Westside, our new first choice for emergency care!
Refused payment at time of service, why?, because theyre either retarded or malicious. Sent notices to pay the bill, cant pay the bill, not available online, no links, references, nor anything. Now trying to send my daughter to collections because THEY REFUSED PAYMENT. I hope their vetinary proficiency is far greater than their ability to run a business. These people are malicious at worst and just plain stupid at best.
Every employee was very professional, kind, and sympathetic. I unfortunately had to lay my boy to rest but they managed to soften the blow of the hardest thing Ive ever had to do. Should I ever acquire another companion, this is where I will have them treated. Thank you, BluePearl.
I was referred to Blue Pearl (BP) by my cats primary vet because of a suddenly appearing serious eye condition. Dr Monk is a board certified ophthalmologist. Noel was seen promptly and diagnosed. The Gold Standard treatment was removal of the lens. Noel is a 9+ year old, outdoor rescue cat, so the $3,678.05 estimate for treatment caused me pause. But I decided to go ahead, as I had confidence in Dr. Monk and the team, which included Dana Chafin as my primary counselor - and my conscience would have bothered me had I not, since I could comfortably afford the treatment. I was surprised I was fully charged up front, but I guess BP has been stiffed before, so they are cautious. The surgery process started , but Noel was not able to undergo anesthesia because of chronic bronchitis, which was unknown to me and absent symptoms before anesthesia started. So the treatment plan changed to address the bronchitis - and the bill dropped to $1,389.77. It is unlikely that Noel will be a good candidate for the eye surgery after the month long treatment for the bronchitis, so it is unlikely I will return to BP.The only real negative to BP is its very poor parking availability - cars have to double park in an overfilled lot and do 3 point turns to get out. And dont even think of getting a pickup truck in and out. Too, Im 70, over an hour away, and have no business driving in Atlanta traffic. None of those negatives detract from the professionalism, quality of the staff and care BP provides, so I think they rate 5 stars.
Initial contact person was kind of rude, and we almost left. However, the Vet technician that came out and got our puppy was fantastic. The provider that called to give us update also fantastic. The initial contact person came out much friendlier. (May have been isolated incident in beginning) overall they were great.
It really upsets me to write this negative review, as I have great admiration for those who dedicate their lives to helping animals. After my first visit, I am very disappointed with Blue Pearl Veterinary Michael DiCicco and I wanted to share my feedback so hopefully care can be improved.I came in for a consultation that was scheduled six-weeks in advance to see if an ultrasound was needed for my dog’s liver condition. This few-minute, in-office conversation for $163 resulted in, “we can’t tell you anything without an ultrasound.”After my dog’s abdomen ultrasound for $385, I was presented a folder containing a single piece of paper. Dr. Michael DiCicco said that there was a mass on my dog’s liver and that the diagnosis was written on the paper. There was zero empathy during this visit.Blue Pearl’s Dr. Michael DiCicco became increasingly frustrated when I asked him to further explain the condition, and he talked even faster and in more technical terms. This was not helpful at all. I was basically told to just read what was typed on the sheet of paper three separate times during this “interpretation” conversation that cost $216. The veterinarian appeared very rushed and eager to leave. In addition, Dr Michael DiCicco was fully shocked when I asked to view my dog’s ultrasound images of the liver mass and that I wanted to share them with my primary veterinarian. It would have been helpful if the exam room in Blue Pearl Atlanta had a computer monitor or handheld tablet for the veterinarian to display the scans. I cannot imagine a person having an ultrasound performed in a healthcare setting such as for pregnancy or cancer and not being able to view the images while it was explained by a physician.Despite confirming my email address with both the vet tech Charlotte (who was great the whole time) and the front desk staff and contacting their national customer experience team, I have yet to receive nor see my dog’s abdominal ultrasound images. I feel terrible at how poorly the visit went and feel swindled out of $764.This was a bad experience with Blue Pearl Veterinary and I do not recommend this veterinary clinic.
Perfect experience!! After coming from a hospital with a 3 hour wait, it was refreshing to have clearly communicated directions for waiting in the car, friendly staff, efficient wait time (I was told 90 minutes, but my pup was seen within 35 min of my arrival), and a knowledgable doctor who was compassionate and honest. I hope I never need a pet ER again, but if I do, Im coming here! Great job, Blue Pearl!
They saved my puppy from parvo. Everyone was very compassionate and made sure to call me every day with updates. Dr. DiCicco and Kate are amazing. Will recommend and bring my pup back if I ever have any more issues. It is pricy but it is a specialty vet hospital. Everyone is very knowledgeable. Worth every penny to save my baby.
Service was good once my pet was seen and technician did a good job explaining medication my pet would need to take.My only issue is these places indicate they are emergency services but unless you say your pet is having serious difficulty breathing or something visually life threatening... bring your pet here with a number of symptoms (shaking rear hind leg, panting, vomiting, loss of appetite and lethargic) that could be life threatening too youll simply have to wait. Wait to allow the symptoms worsen to the point it is possibly too late. Also, they work with a skeleton staff... technician to analyze blood work... xray/ultrasound tech only Monday to Friday but emergencies happen during the weekend too. :(Of course I am here venting because I am scared I am going to loss my other dog while waiting on emergency care for her. 😞
I’m devastated by the interactions with the front desk staff here. It seems there is absolutely no genuine care for our dog. I would not recommend this place to anyone. “Due to covid”, we aren’t allowed inside and have been told to wait in our car for upwards to 3 hours when it’s 90 degrees out and are told we can’t even leave or we will be taken off the waiting list. Our dog is crying in the car and is excessively throwing up. We live a mile down the road and just want him to be somewhat comfortable while in this much distress. Apparently, this place just does not care.Interesting how they are so concerned about the safety of the staff, yet had multiple delivery people walk in without a mask on.I doubt they truly care about any of your pets or the people who come here.Terrible service.
We have a VERY sick cat that we were told to bring to BluePearl. We were told a forty five minute wait and have now been sitting in their parking lot for over two hours and still waiting. When we call to follow up we are told not all their vets are on staff and that we need to be patient. Our cat has been howling for hours, both prior to the visit and now during the wait, which is an indication of something very concerning. When we express our urgency, we were told that we just have to wait. The very first sentence of their website reads, “When you have a pet emergency, every second counts. We want you to know, we’re ready.” Clearly they’re not. Sadly, we have no choice but to wait as we have no where else to go. However, from my experience with them, the one area they are exceptionally proficient and steadfast, collecting the over priced billing. Fingers crossed we get the care needed and soon. What a shame and today’s experience does not reflect the care and love they project on their website.
My father took one of our dogs here after the vet couldn’t find out what was wrong with her. She’s been having severe discomfort, kidney stones, and other issues. Absolutely AWFUL customer service when it comes to updating pet owners. “You’re next to see the doctor. It’ll just be another 10-15 minutes.” Next thing you know my Dad has sat in the lobby for 6 1/2 HOURS.
I anxiously arrived at BluePearl with my dog who had just been attacked by another dog. My dog had a huge laceration on his front limb and a small one on his hind leg.Because of Covid, I was unable to go into the facility so they took my dog at the door. I had this immediate sense of relief. The staff was so empathetic and kind.I was on the phone with Dr. Coleman within 20 minutes of my arrival. She was extremely professional and kept a very neutral and cool tone. After performing surgery, my dog was returned to me. In and out of there within three hours. The bill was $1,200 for one large laceration repair amongst other things.I had the absolute best experience at BluePearl. Prior to arriving I called the closest vet to me (Common Companions) and they declined me and suggested me going to an emergency clinic. I called St. Francis and they mentioned they had a long wait. This really made me irritated that I was turned down by two veterinary practices in the height of an emergency. I should have chosen BluePearl first. At least I know I made the right decision. After the experience I had at BluePearl on Howell Mill, I will always refer this emergency clinic. I felt very welcomed and taken care of. Very thankful for the services provided and the empathy shown from the staff.
This place was phenomenal. Had to rush my moms cat here on a Sunday night after being turned away from two other emergency vets. The whole staff was friendly and worked to get the cat in to see the vet ASAP.Unfortunately, the cat was very ill and could not recover. Dr. Blair-Wells was incredibly compassionate throughout the entire situation, explaining the cats illness clearly and validating my moms decision based on the severity of her cats illness. She even sent a sympathy card! All in all, would highly recommend this vet, and Dr. Blair-Wells in particular, to anyone in need of emergency vet care.
Horrible! I called beforehand being that I lived almost an hour away when my little min pin was attacked by a 70 lb dog. The reception who answered was very helpful and kind and informed me that there was a two hour wait, but they would send a tech out to my car upon arrival to assess my little dog to see if he needed immediate care. When I arrived (9:15pm), the person who answered the phone and took my information was very rude and acted as if she didn’t care that my min pin was severely injured. She stated a tech would come out to look at him so we waited in the car. We waited for almost an hour and within in that hour not one car or I was assisted. There was at least 2 others waiting before me. It was almost as if they were closed. I googled another emergency vet in the area, called them and thankfully they immediately took my dog and prepped him surgery within an hour. I’m so thankful for that other emergency clinic because they saved his life. It wasnt until 11:13 pm that I received at call from BluePearl asking me where I was because the technician was ready to do her assessment. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! When I explained to her that we left because if I had waited my dog I would of died in my arms. The receptionist responded and said “ok thank you ” and disconnected the call. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES HERE. THEY OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CARE.
I had to put down my sick geriatric cat and can not say enough nice things about this practice. The doctor and staff were compassionate and professional with a great bedside manner. I did not know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised by the level of expertise they had. I would highly recommend this office for veterinary care!
I was told that they would notify me if they end up needing to sedate my dog. I told them she has never needed to be sedated doe any of these procedures. They told me they would keep me updated. The manager, Austin lied and said that he and or his staff told my brother and I. Yet, they dont even have my brothers contact info and no one even confirmed that they would be sedating her. I should have had the right to consent of them sedating her! Not them! Thats how it is for any anesthesia, even for humans. This showed me I cant trust them to be honest and transparent. If you are a person who doesnt care what they do then go but other wise they could be charging you for whatever the feel like or doing whatever they want with your pet without your consent. They didnt even put it on the bill the way they said that they would if she does get sedation, wont had no one of knowing unless I asked. I asked as I was confused by the price. For all I know she was never sedated and they are just making extra money from me. UPDATE: they emailed me the next day stated that they “tried calling me” - no one called. Then stated, “ This procedure requires patients to be very still to not cause additional harm while a needle is inserted. Our general practice is to inform owners that our estimate covers sedation if needed, so we generally do not call as this is a much safer procedure than general anesthesia which comes with a much greater risk.” So a new twist and new lie. That’s not what the last two people said...
Only go here if you are desperate. Bad system, the tech wrote nothing down and i had her tell her the situation with my dog three times. The vet tried to oversell me when I know what’s wrong with my dog. She also was a bad listener!Use your own judgement when agreeing to services.Hard parking lot as it’s right next to a takeout food restaurant. Hard intersection to navigate as well.
I was referred by my local veterinarian to Blue Pearl. My little girl fur baby was very sick. The staff and doctors at this facility were very professional and I could not have asked for them to take better care of my little girl. The outcome was not what we had hoped for but the doctors and staff were awesome. Dr Bazzle monitored her progress and gave updates morning and evening. She was very understanding and patient with all my questions and answered everyone of them. Dr. Seshadri sent pics of my little girl while she was there since I was not able to visit (my issue and not theirs). I am sure there are many others who were part of her care. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.
The team took great care of my Happi. Thanks to Dr. Coleman andDr. Monk my little Happi did not loose her eye! Everyone was kind and courteous especially Dr. Monk and her assistant Marquette, he handled Happi with tender care and kept me informed of what would happen and approximately how long things would take. He was super nice!!!! The whole team from the ladies that answered the phone to the doctors and assistant made me feel comfortable in entrusting them with my loved one.
Was referred here by my local vet because my husky was refusing to eat anything, but we couldnt find anything wrong with her. We came for an ultrasound, but Dr. Carter suggested an ECG as well, which I agreed to, even though thats not what Id come for. That ECG found a 2nd degree AV arrhythmia. We never would have caught that if not for Dr. Carters judgment and knowledge. I was incredibly impressed with all of the staff, from check-in to pick-up, they even let me come back after work to pick her up without charging anything extra. I love my local vet, but if theres ever anything that we need a higher echelon of care for, BluePearl is always going to be our first choice.
I arrived at BluePearl on Saturday in tears and a mask with my beloved cat Skittles. She was hyperventilating and crying out in immense pain. They took her back immediately. Within 15 minutes, we were taken into a private room with Dr. Sarah Camp. She was incredibly kind and informative. She carefully explained exactly what was wrong and that euthanasia was the best course of action. This was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The staff at BluePearl Hospital treated my baby with the utmost compassion until her very last breath. They stood by my side and gently pet Skittles with me while she passed. They were professional and incredibly empathetic. Furthermore, I was laid off from my job due to COVID in March and was prepared to declare bankruptcy to pay the bill. I was so relieved when I got the incredibly reasonable invoice via email the next day. I would recommend the staff at BluePearl in West Midtown to anyone in the Atlanta area.
This is absolutely the best hospital I have ever visited (that includes human hospitals too)!! The staff was SO NICE to my pet & I, and they did everything they could to help me feel at ease. We came at 3am to the ER (my cat had just had a seizure), and I was fully prepared to deal with some cranky staff... not the case at all. The lady at the front desk was as nice as if it were 3pm. I was a nervous wreck, and they were very patient with me. They came and got my cat less than 10 minutes after we arrived, and they took our situation very seriously.I cant say enough -- seriously the best hospital of all time. I wish that more hospitals operated like this one.
Terrible service! I called to ask the procedure of getting my puppy seen, the front desk put me on a 15 minute hold to speak to the Doctor. After speaking with the Doctor, they advised us to go there and it would be a 90 min wait, after I waited for 40 minutes in the parking lot they took my puppy for 15 minutes to only come out and tell me that he is not critical enough to treat him urgently and that I will have to wait till all the other more urgent dogs have been seen... poor communication from everyone and bad service. Stay away from this place
We brought our 2-year-old Victorian Bulldog, Jameson, in for an appointment this past December to the Blue Pearl (Atlanta location) and we had discovered that he needed surgery for a prolapsed urethra. From the moment we entered the facility, I genuinely appreciated the professionalism, courtesy and care that we were given during his visit. The staff and Doctors were very thorough and explained, in great detail, what our boy was experiencing and how the surgery would help his current condition. As my wife and I were also extremely concerned about the cost of the procedure, we were thrilled to discover that Blue Pearl’s fees were affordable and that they were willing to work with us, if we chose to move forward with the surgery. The Blue Pearl’s reputation absolutely precedes them and the level of knowledge and expertise that their staff and veterinaries exhibit is extraordinary. If you are looking for a company with unrivaled customer service, and a passion and proficiency in what they do, I would highly recommend Blue Pearl and know that if you choose to use their services, I am confident that you would receive the same exceptional support and service that we did!
My sister brought her dog to BluePearl Pet Hospital for emergency services and their policies and practices around paying for those services made what was already a painful and emotional services, so much worse. At one point when she explained that her bank had a daily limit on what she could withdraw, a person in your office told her that this had never happened before and normally people just paid the bill. I know that this is absolutely not true. That statement was said to shame her. It was unnecessary and hurtful and emblematic of the treatment she received. Similarly when I called to pay the last portion of her bill on my credit card, I was treated to a condescending attitude. We have no complaints about the surgical and medical treatment of her beloved dog. But everything else was almost breathtakingly callous. In fact, the difference between the discussions with the medical staff and the front desk were night and day. We will never use your services again and will discourage others from doing so.
Took our young cat late one night with new-onset bowel problems. The care was extremely professional and quick, with a thorough examination, differentials and a range of plans and costs provided to us within 45 minutes of stepping through the door. Everyone was caring, and went out of their way to make us and the kitty feel comfortable. The efficiency of the process was also very impressive. We left our cat overnight, and by 0900 the next morning, they had already had an ultrasound scan completed, and an internal medicine vet ready to discuss the findings with us. The entire experience could not be faulted and I would gladly use them again in the future, either in an emergency or for ongoing pet care.
The staff is all very friendly and nice but be prepared for a very hefty exam fee. My unscheduled drive up appointment was $133 alone not including any recommended x-rays or medication. A scheduled exam may be slightly cheaper but not by a lot from what I hear. I wouldnt have even known the exam fee prior to checking out had I not asked when I arrived and I only agreed to it because A) I had was already there B) I was concerned my cat had a UTI which requires immediate treatment and C) my regular vet (Thrive - $35 exam fee) and another vet I called beforehand were completely booked. I would have called around more (WellPet came to mind later) had I known it would be so expensive. Specialists or not, this will always be a last resort due to pricing.
This place is just awful. My dog Ace was under specialized care of a Blue Pear in Nashville and we had the best experience. We truly believe they added years to my dogs life. After moving to Atlanta it seemed natural to continue care with a local Blue Pearl near our home. We immediately noticed the administrative issues when we had to send my dogs records 3 times to the new Blue Pear in Atlanta. Every visit was like the first one. The doctors never had his background information and we had to start all over again... and pay for it. He is on multiple controlled substances and it would take days for the refills to be processed, if they even were at all. Their voice mail system for this is awful not to mention getting his medicine filled through this location is 3x as expensive as it should be. I know this for a fact now going elsewhere. I was pretty much done with this place for good after finding a fantastic vet that really went above and beyond to help my pup. Until I needed emergency care. Blue Pearl being the closest to me... I regretfully rushes my dog there one morning. Again, they didn’t have his extensive records in his file. We saw Dr. Coleman who to say lacks bedside manner is an understatement. She was cold and at times condescending. Saying things like “I’m the Dr that’s my job to worry about” and when I asked a question “you must not have heard me when I said”. I was crying the whole visit and she never even offered me a tissue. The sweet tech that came in after Dr Coleman to have me sign the bill at least knew to do that. Then they sent me home with extremely incorrect release documents that they had to correct and resend me after the fact. We also believe that my dog was not a good candidate for the meds he was given at Blue Pearl. He has been struggling with respiratory function ever since I left from our emergency visit there. If they would have had my dogs records maybe a different call would have been made. After following up with my primary vet I feel a lot more hopeful and regret even going to Blue Pearl again. They gave me very little information or options, are not aggressive, unsympathetic, and incompetent when it comes to simple admin duties. I would not write this review if I didn’t give this place multiple chances and they failed me every time. If my dog ever needs emergency care again I will drive the extra few miles and take my chances somewhere else.
Unfortunately, we had an emergency visit with our dog on June 5th after hours. I have relied on our regular vet for all our pets needs and have always been well informed, treated with lots of care and resolved to find the best solution which is what we expected from BluePearl, especially in the case of an emergency. From the start to the end, our encounters with staff seemed very generic, generic responses & generic care. Not having the professional opinion from the Vet on staff, if we had deemed that it was LIFE threatening, we would have made different decisions. If we had had the opportunity to understand the severity of the problem, we would have made different decisions. After his treatment, he came out and he was WAY worse. The response was, It wasnt anything that we did. From this point on and until the time we brought him back in the middle of the night, it was traumatic for us, but most importantly, our loved dog, Jag. He was so far past the unforeseen problem, our only option was to put him to sleep. I believe if the staff had really cared for our dog, we could have made well-informed decisions to put our dog in a much better position and saved us all the complete agony. I had a conversation with the person in charge, I asked him to call me back so I could better understand what was going to be done so that this does not happen to anyone else. He promised me a call back and must have forgotten because I had to reach out to them 5 days later. Utterly and alarmingly disappointing.
I brought my dog here because St. Francis recommended them due to their limited services for the possible issue. 2 hours & $156 wasted for the Dr. to tell me what I already knew. My dog wasnt walking on her hind legs. Thats what I brought her in for. 1st she said its either a dislocated hip or a spinal injury. Thats on 2 completely different sides of the spectrum AND shouldnt you be able to tell a dislocated hip during the $133 exam? Then she explained that its not a dislocated hip but displaced. And its possible its still in the socket but the pelvis may be fractured. So which is it? They dont allow you inside the building because of COVID, so you cant even see what or if they are actually looking at your dog. Do yourself and your family member a favor and go somewhere else.
I brought my cat here and they quickly admitted and examined her. Dr. Seshadri thoroughly discussed her recommendations and I recieved prompt follow up from Dr. DiCicco. Both talked through things carefully, answered my questions, and helped me understand the treatment plan.Unfortunately she needed to be euthanized but since they were actively monitoring her I was able to make that decision and be with her. They were very compassionate and gave me privacy and time I needed before saying goodbye.Yes, this facility is more expensive (just like our hospitals and emergency rooms) but I recieved quick, off-hour care from doctors who didnt rush or pressure me. The situation was dire and they were honest and compassionate.
Hayley rejected my dog when he was in need of emergency service. They said we owed money which we did not. Not the first time I’ve had an issue with this company over money they held on to over $1,000 of mine for 6 months and made it extremely difficult to get the money back. I know they’re location makes them convenient but it’s honestly not worth it if you have the time take your dog somewhere else they’re clearly money driven and your loved ones are a secondary priority.
One day I came home from work and found that my dog had basically exploded in my condo. It wasnt a normal kind of sickness and it was after most vets have closed. I had to get my poor boy some help. Lucky blue pearl was open. I got in and out in about a hour (it was a random Wednesday). The doctor was knowledgeable and knew exactly what was going on with my dog. The price was fair. Ive been to one other emergency vet and I paid much more so I fully expected the bill to hurt, but I was happily surprised. I just moved to atl and I didnt even have a regular vet yet so Im happy to know that these guys are here in case of an emergency.
We took our dog here last night after she was attacked by 2 other dogs. She ended up needing to be euthanized because she was paralyzed and there wasn’t really a chance she would even make it out of surgery alive. The staff was so kind to us. They were very apologetic and helpful. We could tell they really cared about our dog and they continued to apologize for our loss.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR HARD AND DEDICATED WORK!!! I KNOW MOST PPL HATE THE WAIT TIMES AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YALL GO THROUGH!! Everyone has this sense of entitlement that THEIR dog is an emergency….this may be true but there is also things that goes on behind closed doors that us the clients do not see!! Like a dog coding and you needing all hands on deck!!!! I applaud you guys for everything thing you do!!! For every client that has something off to say!!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! What if this pandemic shuts down EVERY and I mean EVERY animal hospital!!??? Then what!!?? Then you will start complaining about not having a place to take your sick pets to!! Give it a rest already
I’m giving the Westside location a low rating because they were poorly staffed on a Saturday night and I ended up waiting 5 hours. FIVE HOURS. For 2 stitches. If you have a major MAJOR emergency the Northside location is great but the Howell Mill location is clearly not staffed correctly for after hours care.Update: A few days later my pup was much worse and we went to his regular vet. I learned that Blue Pearl had completely misdiagnoses and mistreated an abscess tooth. The infection had broken through the skin giving the appearance of a cut on the face. Very common according to my vet. The wound needed to drain (stitches only made it worse) and the medication given was also insufficient to treat an infection. I dont know what to say except that I was shocked. Waiting five hours while your pup is clearly in pain is really tough but I expected quality care. To find out he was in pain days past that and completely incorrect medical care was given - Im heart broken and shocked.I also want to address the response from BP. I was told only one doctor was on shift. So if two critical pets had presented... Im not sure what they would have done. Just a further word of warning to folks considering this hospital.
Every single company wants to take advantage of the pandemic, to make their job easier. Blue Pearl is no exception. Those of us that want to work, are forced to wait 1-1/2 hours in our car with a sick animal, and then forced to wait the entire duration of the appointment... instead of at least being called when they are finished so we can pick up. Some of us HAVE to work, and HAVE other very important human doctor appointments. I’m just sick and tired of companies slacking off and making life harder for their patients when there are better alternatives. It’s absolutely unacceptable.
The staff was amazing! A special mention to Fallon and Dr. Jess Wild! I cant thank them enough for how they accommodated me and my fur baby, Dodger!! Dodger was diagnosed with Cushings last year. And Out of no where his health to an extremely bad turn. I had to make the decision to let my baby go. Dr. Jess gave me every option and was so kind and comforting. As comforting as one can be when taking Covid-19 precautions. They let. me spend as much time as needed before I said goodbye. They gave me space I needed to wrap my head around what was about to happen. Both ladies were extremely comforting as I was losing my emotions completely! Thank you Blue Pearl and Fallon and Dr. Jess for everything. I am glad Southwest Vet clinic referred me to you all. I would def refer you all again to any pet parent I know. Also, thank you for the card. The hand written messages and Dodgers paw print was very sweet. I appreciate the thoughtfulness.
First off, I want to state that this is an emergency/specialty vet and that the negative reviews complaining about wait times need to understand that this vet will operate differently than your normal vet. They have to give precedent to pets that are higher priority and also to those who are having surgery that may need to be stabilized prior to seeing your pet. They don’t do this out of cruelty or lack of professionalism, it’s the nature of the business. Human emergency rooms are the same way.My pet Jun hurt her front leg when she decided to become Superman and leap from my tall bed. We took her to our regular vet who referred us to BluePearl for more in depth testing. When we arrived the two ladies at the front desk were incredibly kind and had us all checked in without any fuss. We were called back no more than 5 minutes later and it turned out Jun had fractured a growth plate in her leg. After going over the costs and estimates with us, they took her back and performed the surgery the same day and Jun is now back home recovering excellently. Angela even called today checking up on her and making sure all was going well.Everyone was incredibly friendly and kind and put my mind at ease. Don’t let some of the negative reviews away you, I will always come here for speciality and emergency care for Jun.PS: there is so much parking I’m not sure why some reviews say there isn’t.
I woke up at 4:00am on friday 3/19 to my dog breathing very heavily. I took her to blue pearl and saw dr.chaudhry who said that my dog was wagging her tail and seemed to be fine. I brought her home and feel like the breathing got worse.I then took her back at 10:00am and thankfully, Dr. Bazzle was there. I pleaded with her and tried to explain that I know my dg and something was wrong. She was so kind and really believed me. I asked her if I could send her a video of how my dog was acting at home. She saw it and said that that is reason for concern. She performed a chest x-ray and turns out my dog has a very rare disease called pneumothorax. she told me it was very serious and did not charge me a consultation fee again for Nova. She continued to monitor her closely until Tuesday and even sent me pictures of my dog before and after her surgery. She called me multiple times throughout the day, keeping me updated, answering my every question. She said that my dog wasnt eating and when we brought her chicken and rice, Dr. Basel warmed it up and served it for her. An absolute angel. I am eternally grateful to Dr.Bazzle and her team, specifically Nadia and Kate who also kept me updated and answered my hourly calls.Thank you all so much-Novas family
Our experience with Blue Pearl has been terrible. They leave us waiting in the parking lot for literally hours (and then, on two occasions told us that we missed our appointment to see a specialist although we were there and checked in 20 minutes prior to the appointment). We have spent $20K+ on our dog there and they can’t even call us when our dog is in the emergency room. I’ve talked to 3 managers who apologize but nothing has changed. If I’m getting terrible service outside, I can only imagine what is happening to my poor dog inside. Please, please use another vet and go to UGA if specialized treatment is required.
Advised the doctor for the reason of my dogs visit which was that it seemed like his jaw was dislocated. While I was voicing my concerns she cut me off to tell me that based on her examination my dog was fine. I tried to voice my concerns again letting her know my dogs jaw was loose, she proceeded to very rudely tell me, WHAT IM telling you is that hes fine but we can admit him and have him see a surgeon tomorrow. so I trusted her and decided to take him home and follow her instructions of monitoring him with pain meds and antibiotics. When I got my dog back I immediately checked again and his jaw was out of place. I was still very concerned so I took my dog to his regular veterinary the day after and he was referred to an orthopedic doctor. Today, a CT scan was done and it revealed a slightly oblique fracture between the 4th premolar and 1 molar on the left mandible.I will never recommend Dr. DaShaunte M. Coleman to anybody I know and I will voicing may concern for her negligence and rudeness to friends, family, and publicly. She never even considered my concerns and didnt take the time to properly evaluate my dog even after I voiced my concerns 2 times to her and he suffered over 24 hrs because of her negligence. If she had properly heard my concerns she could have been able to help him right there and then and he wouldnt have had to suffer and get the proper attention he needed on the spot. Also, when I got my dog back there was a poop hanging from his bottom meaning they didnt even properly care for him while he was waiting.I will make sure nobody I know goes to this location. Please read the reviews. This is not the only one.
Awful customer service to simply get an appointment for my dog (first timer). The referral coordinator is never available to speak to you by phone to schedule an appointment. Several staff members picked up the phone and put me on hold for nothing. I have been trying to get the appointment for 2 days. I give up! cannot imagine what it would be like for my dog to be there.
We brought our pup here because we had concerns that his jaw may have been dislocated after an incident he had. After waiting hours to be seen the vet called my girlfriend to come back and told her that our dog was fine and she didn’t see anything wrong with him. When my girlfriend tried to voice her concerns again and show the doctor that his jaw was wiggling lose the doctor said, “What I’m telling you is that he is fine,” and she completely disregarded what my girlfriend was telling her. We decided to trust her for the night and follow her recommendation of monitoring him and giving him pain meds and antibiotics. We still didn’t have a good feeling though as our pup was not acting normal and could not eat or drink properly, so we decided to take him to his regular vet the next day. When we brought him there they diagnosed him with a fractured jaw and immediately referred him to an orthopedic doctor. He was able to get a emergency CT scan showing he had a fracture in his mandible and they want to preform surgery!Doctor DaShaunte M. Coleman does not have the animals health and well being as her top priority and we will never come back to this vet clinic nor do I recommend anyone go to this clinic itself. Dr. Coleman didn’t even listen to our concerns for our dog and definitely does not care enough to be a good vet!If I could give no stars would definitely do so!
Our dog King was diagnosed in December with heart failure. King was taken to Blue Pearl several times beginning December 17th -January 16th we received an unbelievable call that King had taken a turn for the worse, literally 2 minutes after we left, king had a stroke and didn’t make it, we spent well over $6000 on his visits treatment etc. The night he went in they told my family we had to pay $1600 in order to keep him that night. Several days later when we went to go pick up Kings ashes we were told she would receive a credit of $500. You would think by now we would have received a card or something. Kings vet & his staff sent a heart felt letter but nothing from Blue Pearl where my dog spent his last days on earth. Just makes me wonder what really happened to my pet. The worst feeling ever. All they see is dollar signs Very disappointed in their lack of compassion. I have sooo many other things to say. We are just hurt and disappointed
These guys took excellent care of me and my pet. Luckily I have never had a bad experience at any vet that Ive taken my animals too, but Blue Pearl really exceeded my expectations when advising me on the best course of action to take with my ill pet. I have only visited once but they were very transparent with what my pet needed vs. what was optional, and they took the time to explain all the costs. The entire staff was very knowledgeable and compassionate.
Edit: I found out (after the fact) that they are partnered with THRIVE affordable vet care. So, it all makes sense now. Both of them are scam artists at the cost of pet lovers wallets. Save yourself the time, money, sweat and tears, and just go elsewhere.Whatever you do, DO NOT GO HERE. Was charged $130 for a 5 min examination to tell me the exact same thing I previously explained to them on the phone. I called them for a brutally honest professional opinion and instead was lured into their office with hope only to be quoted for a $3000 surgery -- the same surgery that WellPet quoted for $600 🤯 are you kidding me??? What a joke.I shouldve called the Humane Society for info first, so thats on me. I feel lucky to have found WellPet (after I left Blue Pearl in frustrated tears). My sweet pup has an appointment @ 9am tomorrow at a fraction of the cost ($50 exams). Go ahead and shut your doors now, BP.
I would give zero stars if I could. My dog (dachshund mix) injured his back to the point that he lost sensation in his toes over night. My vet referred me to this vet through the ER department telling me it was vital he go that day to the hospital so they could do surgery. I called this vet and told them the situation, what my vet told me to do, and that I was two hours away. They told me yes to come on. I drove two hours to get my dog treated and waited in my car for an hour for him to be seen. A vet tech came out to my car to tell us she would recommend we go to UGA instead that they did not have a neurosurgeon on call that weekend. She also said that the vet on staff could do the surgery but did not want to. So let me remind you that time was of the essence to my dog at this point. So we drove another two hours to UGA and received the best care possible for our baby. We could have saved ourselves, and his critical situation, three hours had they simply told us all of this from the get go. I love my animals and will do whatever it takes to care for them. I am also a health care professional. I am so grateful that this facility does not care for human lives and I hate that people trust them with their beloved furbabies. The doctor and the staff should be ashamed of themselves for putting us and our dog through this. I would not recommend this hospital to ANYONE. Do yourself a favor and go to UGA where you will get excellent care and they actually care about your animals and you. They actually have compassion for their patients and the families that love them. She even made the statement It would be more financially beneficial for you to go to UGA, not knowing our financial situation at all. So we are glad that UGA is taking care of our baby and that our money went to them instead of this place. DO NOT take any animal you love to this place.
DR. BAZZLE SAVED MY CAT!! I don’t normally write reviews but my cat, Louie, was very sick.. throwing up and wouldn’t eat. the first vet i went to told me there’s nothing they can do and to put him to sleep. I decided to get a second opinion and took him to Blue Pearl. Dr. Bazzle her medical team worked so hard with Louie and SAVED HIS LIFE! I am so beyond grateful for these doctors and their dedication and hard work. Thank you so much Blue Pearl Vet!!! ❤️
Pretty good service. Extremely overpriced I think. Payed $1000 for an ultra sound and blood work. First was told $750, then $950 then ended up paying $1037. Once my dog was diagnosed with pyometra they were asking $4500 for the surgery!!!! Which I couldn’t afford so I took my dying baby to a vet in McDonough GA (Lake Dow Animal Hospital) and got estimated $500-$700 for the same operation this included overnight stay. I understand blue pearl is good or whatever... not $4000 up charge good. A lot of People don’t just have $6000 to fork out believe it or not. Definitely won’t be going back... sad because I’m sure the doctors are great at what they do.
They have given our boy extra life! Every day is a blessing. The care each vet and and tech gave, to pull Charmin through the only health emergency he has had in 14 years, was incredible. There was constant update calls and decision updates, which made us feel very involved in the process. Charmin would not be this far along without: the initial female receptionist/tech/admin exhibited every character attribute needed for emergency pet check-in (thank you for your sensitivity and transparency),the emergency surgeon (if not listed), Dr. Lockwood, Dr. Tarapin (spelling), Dr. Pittman, Dr. Walker, the radiologist, every vet tech that checked on him for countless hours, and especially Dr. Bazzle and Nadia for their critical care, love and encouragement and honesty. Yes, the service is expensive, and made us think about the fact that, if we had pet insurance, the cost to save him would have probably been the same as if we had paid monthly for his entire life! Also, how important preventative ultrasounds, and/or aging care is to catch early onset health issues. I wish there were more financial options for Emotional Support Animals, but luckily we were able to do Care Credit which allows you to have extremely low monthly payments, and no interest as long as we pay off the amount in 6 months (good deal for an emergency if you ask us - and depends on your credit). As an ESA, 2020 was enough to handle, and BluePearl on Howell Mill in Atlanta, helped 2020 end better than it started.
My wife brought our cat in because he was having liver issues and needed a feeding tube. The Surgery went well but everything since has been a disaster. When first bringing him in on October 31st, we asked if how long it would be to speak with a veterinarian, because it was me and my wifes wedding Anniversary and we were missing our dinner together to bring our cat in as an emergency and we had not eaten anything expecting to be eating our Anniversary dinner. Obviously we are not upset for having to bring our boy in considering it was an emergency situation but we left this first night feeling defeated and very hungry when we should have been able to easily take care of the situation if we had been given accurate information or been treated with some semblance of respect, especially considering we expressed our Anniversary plans, the fact that we hadnt eaten and our discomfort at being hungry in the cold room. The ladies up front were nice but said that someone would be with us shortly. After about 20 minutes I asked how much longer it would be and if I had time to run out to get some food for me and my wife and I was assured that a vet was making the rounds to the rooms and would be with us in roughly 5 minutes. Since I wanted to get our buddy some help, I waited to get him admitted and stay with my wife during this ordeal instead of getting us some food. After another 15 minutes I went out to the desk and asked again what the hold up was and after a few moments, finally a technician came to the room. After a few questions about why we brought him in and a physical examination, the technician left with our bud to do some tests and said someone would be with us shortly. Long story short, we waiting in the room for a total of 2 hours for a vet to talk to us and get everything started.2000+ dollars later because we left our buddy overnight for surgery first thing in the morning. Surgery went well and my wife picks him up and his prescriptions and a feeding tube is in his neck to help him get food in his belly.
This review pertains directly to Dr. Lisa Bazzle and the folks(I don’t know their names) assisting her who took care of my dog Jet, an 8 month old German Shorthaired Pointer who had a really serious incident while I was out of town. Dr. Bazzle, despite being very busy, was continually compassionate, engaging and very thorough. She treated Jet like she would have her own dog. No doubt her expertise and kindness saved his life. I would definitely recommend BluePearl on Howell Mill Rd as long as she is there.
Can I give no stars??Go anywhere else. These guys are so careless and ridiculous, they had me running around town all day to get a scrip filled because the Dr. literally could not fill the paperwork out right. 3 separate hour long trips back and forth from pharmacy to vet to get it right. You can’t make this up.This whole time my dog is puking in her crate... totally unacceptable.Do yourself and your pet a favor, and go to any other emergency clinic.
Hannah is the reason I’m giving one star. My dog was going through a health crisis. Instead of her being helpful and understanding. She gave me the worst attitude. I felt hurt and horrible! They don’t care about the animal safety. This office threatens to call animal control to come pick up my dog. After I told them I was an hour away and driving there. Do not become a vet if money is all you care about! If your dog is sick. Please go els where. My friend dog passed away at the hospital also. It’s sad and unfortunate!
Dr. Lockwood fixed my dogs broken leg, and he is getting around today as if the break never happened. So thankful for her and the staff. Those who complain on here about the wait times—FYI this is a emergency clinic..what do you expect? There are a lot of last minute emergencies that can throw off appointments. Just be patient and appreciate that we have a great place to take our animals to.
Unfortunately, you have to leave at least one star to leave a review... Otherwise, Id leave none. This place is awful. I was misinformed, then intentionally lied to, and finally hung up on. My dog was bleeding all over the place in their parking lot but they couldnt even confirm when my dog could be triaged and they put me on their wait list long after my initial call.... Im assuming the front desk associate forgot? Regardless, if you are seeking emergency care for your pet.... stay far away from here!!!
I took my dog in for treatment and was told it would be 8-10 hours. Once I informed them that I would take my dog home, MO, the vet assistant threw the leash and pulled my dog on her injured paw. She was so rude and did not have any compassion for what my baby (dog) was going through. This is horrible for an animal hospital to be cruel to animals.
Our 15 year old boy was referred to Blue Pearl. Other vets thought he had a serious tooth infection. Sadly it turned out to be advanced, incurable oral cancer. Dr. Evans, Austin & Dr. Lockwood have been compassionate and very ethical in guiding us during this heartbreaking time. We were willing to spend thousands on surgery and radiation for Jaxx. They helped us understand that aggressive treatment would cause more suffering without a cure. They showed us how to spoil him and keep him comfortable. The admin staff is friendly, the facility clean and welcoming. Jaxx is in his final days and we can bear it because his pain is controlled and his veterinay team is just a phone call away. Thank you.**Update February 2021. We now have our 14 year old girl Moxie in treatment for thyroid cancer. She wasnt eating after her 1st chemo round & vomited. When we called Blue Pearl, they suggested we save money on an emergency visit and reassured us that our regular vet would know what to do. This worked well and we saved hundreds at our vet who is covered by pet insurance. This is the 2nd time that Blue Pearl vets are aware that we were willing to pay, but didnt exploit our love for a furbaby. Ive encountered human specialists who are way less ethical.
Blue Pearl West Side Hospital is one of the most caring animal hospitals I’ve been to! Since my Biggie was diagnosed with Lymphomia at the beginning of July, I’ve received exceptional care from the beginning to the end! I want to personally thank Dr. Evans for explaining from A to Z what I was up against and what to expect ! I want to thank Austin for being my YES man and for always being positive when I drop Biggie off and when I pick him up! I sincerely appreciate all the support and care you provide us weekly during our chemo visits ! Thank you again to an amazing team of professionals !! ❤️🙏😇
After finding a mass on my dog’s spleen, I was a nervous wreck thinking about the surgery to take it out. But Dr. Lockwood did such a good job reassuring me and taking the necessary time to answer my questions. She did such a beautiful job with the surgery, and my pup is recovering and feeling better than ever! Thank you so much for your competence, your compassion, and your patience Dr. Lockwood and the entire team at BluePearl!
Ive had several good experiences at Blue Pearl on Howell Mill. This morning, I had to take my Pibble, Stella, in for an upset stomach. Everybody was great especially my vet tech, Dexter, who took extra special care to make certain Stella and I had what we needed to return home.
Great service. Friendly staff. Very informative. Triage happens right away. Service can be slow only if your pets condition isnt as bad as others. Prices are higher than a regular vet but thats expected for an emergency service provider (and theyre not a regular vet). I highly recommend these folks.
First off. If i could leave a 0 star review i would. I found a helpless kitten in the street who had been hit by a car and was trying to stand up while bleeding from the eyes and nose. It was not fair to leave him in the street and be heartless. I brought him outside blue pearl and called. They told me unless i was paying for his care then they wouldn’t take in a stray. He was dying in my arms and they didn’t care. All they cared about was the payment. Totally messed up. Would never recommend a place that doesn’t care about a dying animal. Messed up.
These people have zero compassion. Had to take my dog here to be put down and it took 3 hours to prep? The receptionist had such an attitude. What is wrong with you people? Ended up going somewhere else after waiting over 3 hours. Please do not take your animals here.
I can’t even begin to explain how much BluePearl Westside had impacted our lives. My sweet boy, Drake, was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Insulinoma. So not only is it rare, but everything surrounding it is complicated and the risks of surgery could have been life altering. We had a CT scan done and Dr Evans(oncologist) and Dr Lockwood (surgeon) believed it would be in Drakes best opportunity to hopefully have a chance at having quality of life by having it removed, even with the complications that could have arisen after surgery. We were so lucky that everything went so smooth. Drake actually got to come home after spending one night up there because he was acting like nothing ever happened! We just finished up with our recheck appointment and consultation on chemo. Drake will be starting that as soon as the medication (palladia) comes in. Anyway, I want to thank everyone at this hospital for easing our worries and fears and always being so kind to us. Drake is my very best friend and he makes this world a better place simply by being in it, so thank you, again for helping us have this precious time with him. A special thanks to Dr Evans, Dr Lockwood, Amy (receptionist), Paige & Austin(vet techs) I will never forget how nice and helpful y’all have been ❤️
The wait is over the top long. I went there about 2 years ago with my first dog and remember having such a bad experience and told myself I was never going f back. They left me and my dog in a room for over an hour. Then two years later, dog #2 was sick. Throwing up, diarrhea and had what I thought to be a bad rash. After I waited an entire hour to see the tech, all he did was use low key sarcasm to say that the other pets that were there before my dog were there for “bigger things than just vomiting”, then followed that up by saying that since it’s “only vomiting” I’d have to wait another hour to an hour and a half for the vet to see her. I asked if I could leave and come back since I live 10 mins away. He said they would hold my place so I wouldn’t have to do the check in again and asked that I call back within the hour to confirm that the wait had gone down. When I called, they said there were new pets and that if I went then, I’d have to wait another 45 mins. THE WORST! Never going there again! So happy I don’t have to pay my hard earned money to this place. Going to see the vet tomorrow.
Not a great experience, told me my dog will not live over night if I didn’t pay 10k for surgery and that I need to put her to sleep. I’m glad I didn’t take the advice, she’s actually lived and was misdiagnosed, she’s back to normal, had I listened to kill her I would’ve felt HORRIBLE. They had every pet owner in the parking lot crying because they put their dogs down.
We have nothing but praise for everyone at Bluepearl Pet Hospital Westside Atlanta, Ga. We brought our sweet dog CoCo to the emergency hospital on 10/25/21and they did an emergency Splenectomy and they saved his life. The Doctor explained all the compilations that could happen and the likely prognosis, which wasn’t good. Our baby had to stay over two nights and we visited twice a day, the staff always answered the phone through out the night and gave us updates. The young people who work here are the most caring group of people I’ve seen in a long time. We got our boy back 2 days after we brought him in, the sad new is he passed 3 weeks later on 11/15/21. Bluepearl Pet Hospital gave us the ability to get some closer with our pup and we feel blessed for that.
I called on Christmas Day because my pup had been scheduled somewhere else on Jan 3 and I couldn’t wait any longer to find out what was wrong with his front leg and why he had been limping for sometime with no relief after several vet visits. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and told me I would love Dr Abigail Lockhart. I have to say, she exceeded my expectations and was such a pleasure to meet . Her bedside manner was extraordinary and my boy kept giving her kisses while she sat on the floor with him . I highly recommend Dr Lockhart as an orthopedist and should I ever need to use her again... she will be the first person I call. What a wonderful human being :)
First, they made us wait in the parking lot for hours, only to admit the puppy and stating that they are very busy, which they are, but there is no reason to not call people back instead of making them wait.Second, after charging $1100, they didnt even run the diagnostics I was expecting. He had fever of unknown origin. Unknown... because the only labs were Parvo and CBC. No LFTs, no kidney function, no imaging. By the way, the doc following up stated that it can be liver or kidneys, but didnt do the testing just labeled it unknown origin.Third, the discharge notes were very unsatisfactory. No lab results provided, vague differential instead of a proper diagnosis.Fourth, they kept our puppy there unnecessarily long. The call that he can go came at 2 PM, the discharge paperwork was not ready till 5:30.Please go somewhere else.
Blue Pearl in general has been great for our pets in emergency situations. My recent poor experience was with a prenisolone prescription for our cat who has lymphoma. We did the online form to fill the script last Tuesday to have the meds ready by Thursday. Hadnt heard anything, so I called on Friday and the staff member told me the oncologist had left for the weekend and wouldnt be in until Tuesday, and said verbatim theres nothing we can do, sorry. We had about 2 days left of her medicine by this point. So I called them again this evening (got a backup script from our normal vet) and the meds still had not been filled. No one has contacted us. Super disappointing.
FIRST OF ALL I WOULD TO THANK ALL THE STAFF FOR BEING SO WELCOMING, FRIENDLY, and MOST IMPORTANTLY TAKING CARE OF MY LITTLE BABY GIZMO!!!! If you have a situation and your animal baby/friend gets hurt, take them to BLUE PEARL MIDTOWN!!!!! Secondly I’d like to give kudos to DOCTOR SMITH FOR TAKING SUCH GENTLE AND LOVING CARE OF GIZMO… LASTLY ID LIKE TO THANK CLINTON FOR BEING A ROCKSTAR AND MAKING ME FEEL BETTER AND MADE MY TEARS GO AWAY!!!! THANK YOU BLUE PEARL FAMILY AND STAFF!!!!
We had a mass operated on by Dr. Lockwood with prior consultation with Dr. Evans. Everyone from the front desk to the techs to the doctors were very friendly, professional and informative and I appreciated the follow ups as well. Pricey for sure but board certified! Would recommend!
They take really good care of my dog here. Before you come here you need to understand that this is a speciality facility and you will be paying a lot for care for your dog. This is also a good emergency place for your pet but you also have to understand that you will be paying a lot once again depending on what they have to do. I love the staff because they know my dog and their really friendly. My dog comes here for special once a month shot for his Addison’s disease. Dr Dicicco isVery knowledgeable in what he practices.
I had to have a 11-year-old German Shepherd put down at this place. My experience was handled so professional that these people were absolutely God sent. I mean this dog had suffered for months and I really did not want to see her go butthe way they handle this situation made it so much easier. God bless and thanks to the people at blue Pearl
Worst service I have ever received. For the price I paid I expect better care. Considering they are the most expensive place in Atlanta ( I brought my dog to the ER at 4am I didn’t get my do seen until 5:45 am and the was only one other person before me that had a false labor )
A recent Sunday morning, after almost a year of declining health we brought our dog in to be euthanized. Katie Ray and team were most thoughtful and considerate, helping us through a truly difficult decision. I would highly recommend this vet for daily and for emergency care.
We were referred to this surgeon for our dogs ACL surgery so I had heard nothing but good things about them. Our experience was less than great though. We had our first consultation at Banfield which cost a fee and we got x-rays from Banfield which we paid $200+ for and got a CD copy. When we visited BluePearl, they charged an additional $150 consultation fee and they wouldnt accept our x-rays. The doctor was quick and blunt. She did a stress test on our dogs leg and diagnosed an ACL tear as a slam dunk diagnosis in less than 30 seconds. She claimed her computer wasnt working that day so they couldnt see the x-rays we brought and insisted they would have to redo them before the surgery anyways. The doctor didnt seem inlcined to stay and answer our questions so the appointment took less than 20 minutes. She quoted the cost of the surgery to be $4k plus. I understand ACL tears are common so it was a simple diagnosis and the cost includes having the board-certified surgeon and technicians conduct the surgery. However, we decided not to get surgery here due to the quick, impersonal consultation and the lack of information or patience (they encouraged we do it the very next day) with the surgery.
I have an elderly diabetic cat who died while I was on vacation. Thanks to Blue Pearl, she died twice, the second time under extreme physical and emotional pain, caused by Blue Pearl. My cat died peacefully at home, with our other cat laying next to her. The pet-sitter who came upon this scene wasnt sure if the cat was dead and didnt know what to do, so took her to Blue Pearl on Howell Mill. The Blue Pearl people resuscitated my dead, elderly, diabetic cat. Moments later, probably after realizing she was in a vets office, surrounded by strangers (something that gave her acute anxiety attacks) she died again and couldnt be resuscitated. So my half feral, elderly cat, who gets acute anxiety at the vet, who HAD died peacefully at home with her buddy cat? Thanks to Blue Pearl, she died TWICE, the second time with strangers, in a vet, after being physically tortured. And then they sent me a bill for it. I wouldnt take a goldfish here. I wouldnt have made a negative review post about this, but they keep calling me about the bill, and now they said they are sending the bill to collections. So I am NOT going to keep quiet about this! Its a disgrace, to revive a dead cat who was frail and elderly, only to have her die again, probably more painfully this time, and then SEND ME A BILL? I am telling everybody I can about this now, because its a disgrace and they should be ashamed of the way they cared for my cat and the way they do business.
We are in Atlanta for Thanksgiving from Maryland and had to get our dog checked for possible ear infection. I would like to give mega kudos to the staff for exceptional service. I can honestly say that my dog and I have never been treated so quickly and as though we were family. This is the place to go with your pets. FIRST CLASS
I took my dog here being that it was the only place I could get someone to see him the same day. The visit had to be conducted a bit differently because of covid so they took my dog back and no one was allowed with him. I’m not sure how in depth they examined him but they called me to give me his diagnosis and I was speculative because it was almost as though they didn’t listen to the background story I gave them at all and they essentially just wrote him off. They did a couple of tests and told me at discharge that I would receive a call in 2-3 days with the result of a culture they did so I wait, I give them almost 5 days before I call them. Upon calling, no one had any idea who my dog was, it took three people answering the phone to pull up the records and then they just say “oh you have to wait at least a week for test results”. I informed her she was wrong and she connected me with a doctor who could magically read the results before a weeks time but can’t provide copies of the results, which is suspicious. But when he reads me the results we find that the diagnosis I got was completely wrong and instead of offering another suggestion to what could be wrong they just tell me to go somewhere else. So I’ll be sure to do that and wish I could have gone somewhere else in the first place instead of wasting $500 on nothing.
They treat you and your pet like family! Dr. Di Cicco took the time to discover the root cause of the health issue without breaking my bank. Dr. Di Cicco made sure I understood what was occurring with my dog (he has cancer) and what we can expect in the future with treatment and life expectancy. The process was extremely swift and smooth. I was referred here by my Primary Care Vet, but would go back for any emergency or specialty care. I was beyond impressed with the customer service! And I was pleasantly surprised with the cost. I was expecting it to be expensive, but it was cheaper than my assumption, which is always a good thing.
First experience and found these pros: All staff we met were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. Appt. for 11:00am, but got us in early and out by 11:15. $$$$ was high, but not surprised given vet costs in general. Dr. Savage took his time to explain all test results, giving pros and cons of each possible course of treatment. Cons: I had to take samples back to my own vets at Banfield to be sent out to a lab rather than BP sending them in. Dr. Savage also recommended prescription and I had difficulty getting vet on duty at Banfield to do. After calling Blue Pearl back, they said they would call my vet and straighten things out. I wish Blue Pearl would have just written it. All in all, I would recommend and will take my dogs back, if needed.
While they were able to take care of my dogs needs, the staff and doctors used fear and scare tactics to improperly charge for services not needed and not rendered - quoting $600 and charging $1900. They failed to listen, they were not patient and when communicating with the insurance- they were flat out dishonest.
My dog, Petey, stayed at BluePearl for a few weeks and every time I visited the front desk, nurses and doctors were all super nice and helpful. They all went out of their way to be sure Petey was happy, healthy and loved! I appreciate everyone of them and their hard work. Petey is home now and doing better than ever! =)
They will keep on hold forever! I called to see if I should bring my dog in for what appears to be lesions on his skin at one spot. I was very concerned and asked if I could speak with someone. I was on hold for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to come to the phone and of course, my call was disconnected.
I took my Labradoodle Jett here this evening after getting a large wound at the dog park from another dog. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by a vet tech who took down my information and took Jett to the back for examination. 15 minutes later I was talking to Dr. Boggs who gave me a run-down of my options, and gave me what I felt was his honest opinion. I opted for sutchers, and was heading out with a groggy puppy about 45 minutes later. The whole staff here was wonderful, Dr. Boggs was awesome, the location is clean, new, and convenient. Whats even better is the cost isnt anywhere near what I was expecting!
Dr.Monk is very inexperienced!! We just wasted time and money bringing my dog here .. if you want a experience very knowledgeable optimolgist, go to Saves in Fayetteville Ga and ask for Dr.Storey ..I’m so glad I went to see him after and performed surgery on my dog immediately and now she can see ..She had no idea what was going on with my dog...She provided her medication that had nothing to do with the problem and tacked her eye lid down which wasn’t the problem either ..Horrible !!!!
Dr. Lockwood and the entire staff at BluePearl Westside are first class all the way. I was out of town about a month ago when my Petey was hurt and had to be rushed there so they could save his life. They were waiting for him when he arrived and treated him like he belonged to them throughout his stay and recovery. Every single time I walked through the door they treated me with compassion and patience, as I had about a million questions daily! Petey was released from their care today and I am eternally grateful that he has many more days ahead to chase squirrels, bask in the sun & roll in the grass. Thank you to everyone at BluePearl for treating us like family and giving Petey THE best care possible.
Dr. Shessel was so kind and compassionate when we were faced with the sudden and unexpected choice to let our precious cat go. She was thorough in explaining all the options and giving us her best, most honest advice. We had to make a terrible choice but the staff here was so wonderful and followed up with a personal note a few days later. It meant the world to us.
I’ve taken my dog here twice and the service was impeccable. I didn’t feel like they were just trying to get money out of me. They didn’t run unnecessary tests or scans. I’ve recommended them many times and would continue to. There may have been a wait but as long as my dog was ok I didn’t care.
A nickel and dime establishment with not a lot of practicality. No vaccines offered and inflated prices. This is probably for the more affluent pet owner. They have clean and new facilities along with Very pleasant staff. The Exam fee gets you a conversation full of speculation absent of true diagnosis. “Further test are needed to accurately assess your pet” for an additional fee of course. I should’ve known something was wrong when they asked for my drivers license number on the intake form. Lol.
BluePearl showed great care and concern. I was particularly impressed how they forthrightly and directly explained clinical options. They acted with integrity - including a call in the wee hours of the morning to clearly communicate difficult news. I wish they did more than emergency care. Drs. Hunter, Camp and DiCicco are each top professionals. Highly recommend.
Dr. Frank Romano was just outstanding trying to save our beloved cat. He spent hours doing different tests, discussing all possible options and outcomes with us. He even followed up with a personal letter. Just an outstanding service, if your pet needs help, Dr. Romano is the way to go.
Everyone I came in contact with was VERY friendly but just a consultation was 135$ and I talked to the vet for MAYBE 10 minutes at most.Again the 135$ was JUST for the consultation, and for the vet to look at xrays another vet performed ... so I honestly cannot imagine how expensive it would have been to preform the surgery I thought my dog might have to have.
Operated on my dogs WRONG leg . . . not once, but twice. Picked her up last night to discover this horrible situation. The first surgery (on the wrong leg) didnt close as expected, so they had to do a second surgery (still on the wrong leg). My dog has been traumatized, all for absolutely nothing. I am incensed.
I came with my sick puppy and all they kept talking about was pricing and they would not help him until I confirmed I could pay. Very heartless basically told me don’t waste my time your dog is going to die! I would not recommend this vet they do not care about you or your animal only money !
I could say that I was satisfied enough with the experience and the services that were performed for my kitten at the Westside location UNTIL TODAY, when I received a suspicious credit card alert saying that the card that I used two weeks ago at Blue Pearl was used at Comcast Atlanta to make a $585.15 purchase! I have not taken that card out of my wallet for about a year before that, and two weeks after I used it Blue Pearl someone tried to use the card number over the phone or online! Either someone there commits (or assists in committing) credit card fraud, or their credit card transaction system is full of security holes. Or it is just a freak accident, which does not seem likely, because I noticed another review on YELP mentioning credit card fraud after the person paid at that location. As they say, one time is a coincidence, BUT two times could be a pattern. I hope to be wrong, but be warned. People or system - one of those may be flawed there...The services themselves, however, seem to have met our expectations, for the most part...
I dont leave many reviews, if ever. But the new gal at the front desk, Jackie, a DOLL - keep her folks. Shes kind, caring and more knowledge than your average billy goat. Dont know where yall found her....but KEEP her. She puts some of the other staff, including other professionals to shame!

2021-09-30Everyone we encountered was kind and professional and showed our cat compassion.Marquette was wonderful - such a friendly face in a time of high stress. He clearly loves what he does. Dr. Camp was very thorough in explaining our cat’s injury and care plan, and gave us an idea of what to expect cost-wise when we simply asked. She is incredibly knowledgeable.I appreciated the precautions the hospital is currently taking for COVID, being that it’s a medical facility. We were kept updated via phone and felt confident that our pet was safe in their care while we waited.Thank you ALL for giving our boy the best care.

2022-02-15This took me a while to write since I lost my baby Jo here. Despite the outcome, BluePearl was always very tentative and communicative during the whole process. Everyone was sweet, patient and kind there.Yes, BluePearl is expensive. Yes, I waited about 4 hours to get seen. But also I showed up on a Saturday late in the evening.Jo was brought to BluePearl for excessive vomiting and he was diagnosed that he was in a diabetic shock. He stayed in facility for 1 day before his lungs started filling up with fluid. I was able to visit Jo numerous times a day, no matter the hour BluePearl accommodated me.The night he passed, I went in to visit really quick and they were swamped with the amount of surgeries and pets being seen so I told them I could come back later. Not long after, they called me to tell me they were incredibly sorry for the long wait and that I should come back to see Jo. I am glad I did because that was my last time I saw him. He passed a couple hours after that. After he passed, I held him in a private room for 4 hours and not once was I rushed out or felt like an inconvenience. The team continuously checked in with me and helped me coordinate arrangements. They have followed through and checked in with me even after Jo’s passing. It was a situation in which I never expected this outcome within 36 hours of Jo being ill. However, BluePearl is a clean and organized place with great tentative staff. Thank you!

2021-11-09We came in early this morning with our goldendoodle who was vomiting for the second night in a row. Regardless of hearing we may need to wait for over an hour while the doctor was in surgery (totally understandable, being that it’s an emergency veterinarian and our pup was not in a dire situation), we were served and communicated to really quickly and transparently - someone came out to speak to us to update us on the status of when he’d be seen, asked for symptoms, explained process, etc. They took him back after about 30 minutes or so and continued transparent, compassionate communication and care to us and for him. So thankful for Dr. Kelsey Smith and her team for caring for our little guy! We came home relieved and informed, which is exactly what you can hope for as a result of an ER vet visit. We will be back (well, only when we need, of course.)

2022-05-12Love them! The referring attendant was wonderful and she was reassuring and really kind for a really scary visit. And Quette is kind and is really patient with my feisty 18-year-old YorkiPoo, Brutus! Dr. Monk is thorough and kind and explains everything so well! Thank you everyone!

2022-01-27My Poodle mix wasnt feeling well last week, and her Vet couldnt see her so she was seen through the emergency service. We were placed and a room and the front staff and Dexter made us very comfortable with the care and attention. He was very professional and knowledgeable and kept us updated with the wait time. Even thought it took the Vet over an hour to speak to us, Dexter had already explained that a more critical case was being seen. After the Vet talked to use, we agree on the treatment and we were out of there soon after.

2022-04-04Dr. Sigmund is exceptional! I brought my golden retriever to him at the Sandy springs location on Friday for an eye issue. He is compassionate and knowledgeable- he laid out the possibilities and options well all while trying to be efficient and conscious of Hal’s discomfort, our time, and money. You can tell he loves animals and he was super sweet with our Hal. We saw him again at the Howell mill location this morning and I was, once again, very impressed. The Howell mill location overall was a bit quieter and had more of a smaller vet feel- (Sandy springs felt a bit chaotic) but, my experience at both were top notch. Thank you Dr. Sigmund and his vet techs who were also amazing and compassionate especially this AM. Keeping our fingers crossed for our sweet Hal- we so appreciate your help!

They were friendly, and very attentive to Kadee and my self during our scary ordeal. The discharge staffDexter OMG was the bessttttt!. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about aftercare ,meds and overall just a genuine great employee. They made this ordeal, much easier, as I was a emotional wreck. I highly recommend this Animal Hospital..#Top Tier

2022-06-05They were very sweet. My cat Tigger was taken back very quickly and given an initial assessment and they came back and updated me a few moments later. I arrived at 7-8 pm and they were rather busy. After 20 minutes or so I was taken back to a room where I could wait the remainder of our visit. The staff was all very sweet and attentive and they listened well. Very professional. It definitely felt like a pet hospital. It’s about the price you’d expect for an emergency vet. Cheaper than I was expecting though.I definitely felt as if they cared about my pet and were doing everything they could to help. They also didn’t charge me and arm and a leg to do a bunch of stuff they didn’t need to.I would bring my pets back here in the event of another emergency.

2022-05-09Every person who I interacted with here was extremely helpful and friendly! I was so pleased with how quickly they got my cat back when he was sick. They immediately started treatment and kept me informed of his progress every step of the way (which was a multi-day ICU stay for him). They were all so compassionate and helpful. I absolutely recommend this location!

2022-05-16I am going by criteria in the survey I was sent by Blue Pearl and giving the same feedback.Despite the fact my dog had a broken wrist and I had to carry him no staff member ever offered to help and I actually had to ask them to hold the door (my dog was 60lbs). Another customer ended up helping with the door. It took over an hour to be acknowledged by a vet tech and longer for the dog to receive any pain control. When the vet tech did come in he had notes scribbled on a post-it note. The veterinarian was kind, presented diagnostic information and recommendations but seemed exhausted. While saying goodbye to my dog a staff member came in to present the bill for payment. Perhaps there was no good time for that but it was awkward.Overall, the experience was never going to be wonderful because I lost my pet and the outcome would have been the same regardless. However, this location lacked processes and empathy from some team members that would have made the experience decent for me and my dog.
