The food was great, but the service needs a lot of work. We got there and seated pretty fast, but then no one came back to our table for 24 minutes to get our drink order. Even then, we flagged down someone to do that. She was not the nicest person. The water had a funny taste and the tea was just tea. Horrible flavored water. We almost left, but decided to give the food a chance. Another server took over and he did a much better job.
We recently moved here from Miami, & Im Cuban, so my bar is pretty high for Cuban food. However, the Cuban held up and the bread was fresh. We really enjoyed one of their fusion dishes (the open faced sandwich) and the homemade potato slices (chips). They were a nice touch! That guave paste, though!!!!🔥🔥🔥 If you like guava, please do yourself a favor and get the guava empanada. Well definitely return so we can try all their menu items! Also, the atmosphere was fantastic and the staff was super friendly!
This was my go to spot for Cuban food but this was pretty bad .I went there 40 minutes before closing on a Friday but that’s not really an excuse . I ordered the pernil , rice and salad .The tomato wasn’t cut , they skimped on the meat and rice , the pork was dry. I’d rather they tell me that they did not have any pernil left . Or , they could have told me it was Friday and they gave up. Either way, I’m not coming back. There stuff is usually high quality but this was bad .
Outstanding presentation.the food was extremely flavourful, and the service was fast. Like scary fast. We were in and out in under 40mins. With full stomachs and left overs. I will definitely be returning to try more. The pics are of the pernil & shrimp in Spanish sauce
An incredible place to eat, extreme and complex flavor profiles and incredible serving sizes. There is also a pretty good coffee shop inside as well. Great lunch spot if you are in town, or even just passing through like I was. We drove about an hour out of our way to come here and it was worth it.
Tried this restaurant for lunch for the first time, and it was a good experience. We started with the yogurt parfait - which was absolutely delicious - definitely something to have when here. For main course we ordered two dishes outside of our comfort zone just to try. The traditional potato egg pie was okay, the plantains were standard. The sandwich also didn’t impress - potentially pressing the bread would have made it better - not really sure what was missing.Great ambiance and place to try out of the ordinary.
My all time favorite place to get breakfast and coffee in Columbus. Every single plate and dish here is fantastic and crafted to each intricate detail. And the coffee, the cafe con leche is so very comforting and delicious. I recommend this unique place as one of the top five places to eat in Columbus!
Loved this place, from the fresh orange juice to delicious guava and cheese empanadas to a variety of breakfast or brunch/lunch items, cortados and lattes. Very delicious and authentic Cuban feel, friendly staff and excellent service. This is a unique experience with some larger menu items for the truly hungry but also quick, familiar items too. I will definitely be coming back here!
The atmosphere was different, not a typical restaurant environment, it’s Latin American authentic food, and also a little coffee shop, that’s what we love about the place. Crowded at lunch time but it’s to be expected, awesome staff and vibes. This pic is the simple salami, with plantain chips.
First time eating there and will definitely make it back, VERY good food! Had the Pernil with yellow rice, plantains, and salad - all I can say is I cleaned the plate. Service could have been a tad better, we had to ask for things we shouldnt have, but no real issue. But again will be back and cant wait to try other items on the menu.
We came in with a large party and were accommodated and seated quickly. The staff was very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! We had to wait quite a while for some of the food, there were some people in our party eating their entrees and others hadn’t even gotten their appetizer yet. But overall it was a pleasant experience that brought me a taste of home at a decent price.
We were looking for a special place to eat tonight and we discovered this gem! The atmosphere was awesome. Beautiful decor, and music. There were paintings on the wall that were available for sale. We loved the outside sidewalk seating area but decided to sit inside and enjoy the air conditioning. Our waiter, Justin, was very attentive and never allowed our glass to go dry. They serve breakfast through dinner. Id love to go back for breakfast. The dinner menu had a wide variety and had some of favorites. We love Puerto Rican food and the food was delicious.
The Cuban sandwich is an experience of its own, but the other menu items are just as impressive. Start out with any of the fine coffee options and then choose from the limited menu (limited meaning small, but full of quality) and you wont be disappointed. We had the Cuban and the Mother Daughter sandwiches and they were amazing. We had both iced and hot lattes and they were exquisite.
So bummed :-( we normally have a good experience but this is the 2nd visit now that the service has been poor.I was hoping it to be an isolated case the first time but unfortunately is wasn’t.This time the food was ok rather than delicious as usual. The large salad had one small container, maybe 1 oz of dressing, chicken was dry and a very small amount for a large salad. The chorizo fries were pretty tasty but could’ve used more sauce again a small side maybe 1oz.The iced lattes would’ve been good had the server made it as we ordered it but they didn’t put any flavor in the lattes at all.The server assigned to us barely showed up and we were advised by the other server that we were not his table, but he actually did more work thank our assigned server and that’s not saying much. It was obvious he was bothered to be helping us at all.We actually sat down several minutes before “his” table. He made sure to clear their table first, bring them menus and waters before us, because we “weren’t his” but our sever didn’t show up until our order came out.I know times are tough and businesses are short staffed but I feel things could’ve been handled in a more professional manner. There were from what I counted at least 4-5 total employees that were visible in the restaurant walking around the restaurant and front area. Our main reason to visit today was for the yummy lattes and I had to go inside wait an additional 5 minutes to ask why my latte tasted so bad. I asked if the guy behind the counter (he made the lattes) if he put any flavor in my lattes which he replied no. I reminded him that I wanted whatever sugar free they had and he said, “we don’t have any”.I then said we’ll take whatever flavor you have. It would’ve been nice to know prior to him completing my drinks that they were completely out of sugar free rather than realIzing after my first sip of nasty no flavor added to my lattes. At least I could’ve had an opportunity to modify it prior to drinking it.I do hope the service improves, we have had 50% good & 50% poor experiences here.I forgot to mention it took 20 minutes after our daughter went in to let someone know we were outside sitting, to come out & then another 20-30 minutes before we received our drink order. It was pretty bad, my husband just wanted to leave but we had already ordered food and I didn’t want to just walk out on that. There were a few tables inside and outside there was a 2 top table that was there before us, we were the 2nd table and then the 3rd table sat down after us.Overall, just a poor experience. It would be nice to not have the servers standing over you as you decide their tip and when you want to give feedback.
I wouldnt recommend. They charge $3 for a can of soda. Their sides with the meals have no variety. The pernil and empanandas were dry. Your waitress has a handheld to process your bill and the tip suggestions appear right in front of her, awkward. My waitress..was also awkward.
Its on the pricey side but this is one of the times when the money is completely worth it. A very welcoming environment and friendly staff. The selection of food ranges from Columbian to Cuban and is all delicious. I have already gone several times and plan on going back soon. Please go try this restaurant.
My Husband and I stumbled upon this place looking for a great cup of coffee, we found it and so much more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Lets start with this place is busy so expect to have a small wait but it is worth it, The Coffee, food and service is some of the best I have had since Italy. This is some of the best Latin food that I have had but the coffee is top notch, Try the Café con Leche it is delicious and worth the waitCaesar and his Staff made us feel very welcome, like he had invited us into his home. My husband asked him about purchasing a cup that they had on display and Caesar told him that it was a gift and he could never sale a gift he could only regift it. That is what he did, he took it of the shelf put it in a paper bag and gave it to Rodney. This one small act of kindness made our day!!!!!! Later that day we come back for Dinner Bodega 1205 is good enough for 2 trips in one dayRose
Yummy! Yummy! Enjoyed the pernel. The flan was nice too.Great spot with awesome customer service. Tried the Bodega fries....sooo yummy. The breakfast sandwich is awesome too!Went with a group of 9 and had great and quick service with only a 10 minute advance call. Great team working there.
I have to say that this may be the top place to eat in Columbus. I use to get so frustrated how packed they are on the weekends but now I understand why. The food is amazing and generously portioned for the price. Ive never had a better iced coffee than here and the atmosphere is great. If you’re looking for an intimate quiet setting then this isn’t the place for you during the lunch hour. I came for lunch alone with my two children 2and 1 and the gentlemen was more the patient helping me through both doors and getting settled in. I would highly recommend this place
The food was really good, and thankfully worth the bad experience we had with the service. We were pretty much forgotten about the entire time. The table next to us received their food, ate their entire meal, and left before we even got our coffee. We ended up receiving it about 30-35 minutes after we sat down, along with our food. Wouldve liked to enjoy it as we waited for our meal...they told us the espresso machine broke, but that wouldve been good to while waiting at least. Food was delicious but they partially got our order wrong too. We were also sat right next to the back service door where the employees kept loudly going in and out of. Nothing was taken off the bill, which is fine, but it wouldve been a nice gesture considering we were respectful and patient while voicing our concerns to our server(s). I guess thats what we get for going during a busy Sunday brunch, but why sacrifice your restaurants service and quality just to fill the restaurant to the max? Well be back, but definitely not on a Sunday.
My family and I stopped by bodega after searching for a Spanish food restaurant for days. Bodega fulfilled all our cravings. As a vegan I am always nervous about finding vegan options at restaurants. At bodega they offer a vegan fried rice which was yummy but not my personal cup of tea. After the owner noticed I was not eating he offered me multiple alternatives! I was so happy to see this level of attentiveness and after I picked an alternative my tummy was very happy! 10/10 place my family all enjoyed their plates and we will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. As a note for my fellow vegans they have oat milk! And their coffee with oat milk was the best coffee I’ve ever had. Incredibly delicious 🤤
We stayed at the hotel around the corner and their breakfast was severely lacking, a quick google search brought us here and we could not have been happier. The staff were great and happy. Everyone was smiling. The breakfast omelettes were fresh and delicious and came with a couple fried plantains and fresh hot home made potato chips. The orange juice is fresh squeezed on the premises and a great accompaniment to our omelettes. Oh, one more thing. Instead of butter for your toast try their guava butter!
Looked at the menu on line and was so excited to go. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened and stood inside for a bit before we were greeted. The server said oh sorry we are just opening. And I thought to myself no, you opened 8 minutes ago and should have been fully ready for guests then. We sat out front and shared chorizo Benedict. It really was not good, so incredibly salty, I literally took one bite and gave the rest to my BF. If I didn’t know better I’d think it was Jimmy Dean. Rest of the Bennie was sub par along with service (BF did say he liked the plantains) We were so bummed, were really hoping to get a taste of home.
La Bodega is a all around joy to dine, its the best breakfast spot in Columbus. The atmosphere is so homey, and feels like abuela has a huge dinning room, with cherry wood accents. I can tell the Chef loves cooking, bc I didnt have to season my food when it came to the table. The coffee con leche is out if this worldly good, and I dont even drink coffee. The owner is so sweet and interpersonal. I already cant wait to come back.
We’ve came here a few times and it was good. Cafe con leche is amazing but the wait times are terrible even on a day that’s not busy. We’ve had to constantly find our waiter the last couple of times we came because they seem to forget about us and focus on other bigger parties. We love the food when it comes out hot but last time we were there we had to get our food in a to go box after waiting for an hour for the food to come out and when we got it, it was cold. We understand things happen but it’s unfortunate for the service when food is so good and owner so friendly.
The wait staff was incredible! Attentive, energized, and helpful! The FOOD OMG we got their egg Benedict over steak bkf special and it was mouth watering! Started off with chorizo loaded fries(amazing, waiter recommend them). Needless to say we didnt leave hungry!❤ the owner came and spoke on us and checked in as well and is really nice! 10/10 definitely recommend! Will definitely be back!
I love this place. Love the atmosphere, the people, and the food. It is challenging for me to find a place that serves this type of food and is flavored well. Bodega gets it right. They get busy but the employees are all so kind, polite, and friendly it is easy to be patient or just enjoy sitting outside with my family while we wait for the fresh amazing food that we know is about to come. So glad that Columbus has Bodega.
I’m sorry to say that I have decided to STOP going to the BODEGA. It’s quickly becoming a place where people that look like me are not served as promptly as others who don’t . I’ve been a long time customer, and have invited friends and family to enjoy their wonderful , delicious food- but I REFUSE to except substandard service because of (what I perceive ) as subtle classism and discriminatory practices. The owner is a great guy, but needs to observe his servers a lot better. So sorry I had to write this.
Amazing experiences since walking in we where greated and seated. Food came in a timely manner. The owner greated us at our table to make sure everthing was good. Our food was delicious, reminded us of home in puerto rico. Good food good company. We will be coming back. Gracias al Sr. Cesar Bautista y Kimberly nuestra waitress siempre al pendiente nos atendio al 100 tienen excelente equipo sigan asi pa lante
First time ordering from this location on 7/9/2021, ordered takeout. 4 Arepas, 6 Empanadas, 1 Vegan Fried Rice, 1 Bandeja Bodega, 1 Caribbean Chicken for a total of $101.30From the reviews I read I was excited to try out the food I ordered from this restaurant, but unfortunately I did not have a good experience. Overpriced for small portions that failed to impress, but maybe thats because I ordered takeout. I might be spoiled being a grown Colombian man who grew up with a loving and cooking mother and grandmother but my reasons are as stated below. The food, the Arepas were delicious but pretty small to be charging $2.50 per.The Empanadas, I have only tried the chicken but it was the most bland and dry chicken empanada I have ever had. Extremely disappointing but hopefully the Guava and cheese I have here will make up for that. The Vegan Rice was delicious, my wife said, just a bit salty. The Caribbean Chicken was great, wish it had a normal portion of rice and beans though. For the Bandeja Paisa, this was the biggest outrage on the order.....Bandeja means platter which would insinuate a large portion of food but that is the opposite of what I received in this to go order. Maybe a scoop of rice & beans into tiny separate containers and I chose the Ropa Vieja which is beef and it also came in a tiny container of cheap tasting shredded beef which a thick layer of grease sitting on the top. I left most of the meat alone. Messy sausage, not even chorizo, in a corner covered in grease as well. The Yucca was not bad but they could have at least salted it to avoid such a bland taste.Last but not least I want to say that they should train their employees a bit better at listening to customers, I came in and was greeted by a young female at the entrance who for some reason thought I was asking for an employee by the name of Javier? I understand I am hispanic and I was definitely not dressed in a preppy manner like most of the customers, but I was clear when I said I am picking up an order for Javier......not that I was some random hispanic who happened to know another hispanic employee....Wont be going back.
My wife and I came here to quickly grab a bite to eat and I didnt really have intentions on eating here. I was casually speaking to the owner not knowing he was the owner while he was taking food pictures for his advertising. After the chat he gave me the taco he was taking pictures of. It was a steak taco and it was fantastic! The food quality and hospitality is unmatched in Columbus.
The coffee is divine - we got the cafe con leche and cafe cubano. Order the empanada sampler. Not on the menu, but ask for it! The sandwiches are delicious and huge - and thats not a bad thing! You will not be disappointed. Super friendly people and already know what I want to order next time based on their suggestions. We will back soon!
LOVED my food! I got the Tortilla Espanola and a empanada. It really hit the spot. The hot chocolate my friends kid got was fancy and delicious. He loved the treat! I gave 4 stars because our server was missing for most of it and some of the prices were higher than on the menu. The guy who brought our food out did apologize for our server not coming out often and did his best to pick up the slack. We were sitting outside.
Service was good but the food tasted like it came directly out of a box or can. Bodega fries are chopped pieces of potato soaked in grease - only some were crispy or had much flavor. Breakfast toast was soggy. Eggs were what you’d find at Waffle House or Huddle House.
Ordered online today 10/24/21..paid online as well...drove 20 minutes to go pick up my food and they are closed! Extremely disappointed with this establishment and should be illegal to still take orders if the place is closed...their website also states that they are open on Sundays so why not update your website if youre actually closed..very inconvenient and will never recommend
Just FYI , there is a ten percent take out fee, which is a bit ridiculous during Covid times as some people are not eating in restaurants.Food was good. Cuban sandwich wasn’t pressed, which would have made it better. But it was flavorful. The chips are well seasoned slices of potatoes but not all are crispy; most were chewy.
The waiters didn’t offer a lot direction on the menu and wasn’t willing to exchange a plate for another plate of lesser value on the menu. The waiter also offered for me to purchase another dish and take the dish I was dissatisfied with home, after acknowledging I had not touched the food. The owner was very reasonable and apologetic regarding the experience willing to correct the problem at hand. Also mentioned ensuring his waiters are educated on managing the situation to avoid dissatisfied customers in the future.
My picky children were not pleased with the menu selection. I said that my husband and I would definitely come back and try so.e of the entrees (the menu looked delicious to me!). They said, as long as they didnt have to come. Then we got our food. They decided they definitely need to come back. The Pio Poo soup was fabulous. The 12 yo loved it, and got some to take home and called it her cup of happiness. Be adventurous, eat here!!
Absolutely love the food and the atmosphere, truly brings out the Latin culture in the food and look. The staff is always professional and courteous as well, just wish there was a delivery option for those days I don’t want to leave the house but still want amazing food.
Visiting Columbus from out of town and found this place. Best cup of coffee Ive ever had and the food was amazing. We came for breakfast one day and brunch the next, and it didnt disappoint the second time around. The Bodega omlet and the Pernil (pulled pork) are highly recommended. If youre in the area definitely check it out.
So a Tortilla Española is now a potato pie? Have these people ever been to Spain? The restaurant should be categorized as Cuban/Puerto Rican, with delicious plates, no doubt, but please do not consider this a Spanish (from Spain) restaurant, because it is not. The food is good though.
Very friendly restaurant. Was there for lunch, but breakfast and dinner entrees are always available. This is not a taco place. The menu is creative and should be considered Latin American cuisine, not “Mexican.” Trip Advisor needs to bring its categories into the 21st century. Columbus has a large Latin American community. I wish someone would push an initiative to make the city a “destination,” even a Mecca for Latin American cuisine.
When we arrived, there was one table available, they were full, mostly with a big party. There was a big party and then about 4 to 5 four-top tables.Me and my two friends sat at the table for 15 minutes before my friend got up and asked if we could order drinks. We got water and coffee. Our coffee didnt come until we got up and asked for it, drinks sat empty until we asked for refills.I ordered the hard boiled eggs with hummus, avacado, white toast and also ordered a parfait. When food came out (2 hours later) they had no hummus (didnt bother to let us know) the boiled eggs were not hard boiled, they forgot my avocado and my toast was wheat.Friend #1 ordered the same, but she got a meat with hers and a chicken empanada. Friend #2 got a sandwich. When her food came 2 hours later: She had no hummus, they forgot her avocado, didnt bring her side of meat and her empanada was beef, not chicken.Friend #3 ordered a sandwich and didnt get her sandwich. TWO HOURS LATER!!!! They had taken her sandwich to a wrong table and had to make another. Again, failed to let us know. There was a table of two that came in AFTER us, ordered, ate and left by the time we even got our food. This server made every excuse possible. He apologized, but we heard ALL the excuses. They took off my friends sandwich for our inconvenience. But yet, we paid for two hummus orders that we didnt receive, an avacado that we never received and a side if meat that we never received. The server also said I gave you my military discount as well. LOL Okay...... I AM military lol Big deal guy.Anyways....... the only thing that was good was the service, and that was only when things were going we. Once we complained, he acted as if we were more of a burden. He couldnt even bother to check us out, another server had to. And when we left, he sarcastically yelled yall have a good day, come back. I left him a VERY undeserved tip, only because I have made a living waiting tables before. At the end of our 2 hour tour, I can say the parfait was GREAT!! The sandwich was good but this lunch probably lasted longer than the last supper with Jesus Christ.I may would have Uber Eats pick me up a parfait but I wouldnt bother revisiting.⭐⭐⭐⭐UPDATE: 15JULY2021⭐⭐⭐⭐I have been back a few times since. Mainly because of friends wanting to eat there. The service is a LOT better. The coffee is a MUST HAVE!!! So good! The food is always hot and fresh and service is attentive.
As a Cuban born that retired in Columbus in 1985. The Bodega makes a Great! Cuban Sandwich. Out all the Hispanic restaurants this city has had, The Bodega beats them hands down. Some of you may say that the bread is different, yes it is, but the way is put together is just like having one is delicious. Cuban bread is hard to get from Miami. A a Cuban coffee after the meal completes the experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again!
Bodega 1205 is a genuinely outstanding restaurant. From their coffee to sandwiches to large entrees, everything is excellent. The food, atmosphere, and location are all wonderful. My girlfriend is half Panamanian and she says the food tastes like her grandmother made it fresh. Do not miss Bodega 1205 for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
This is the spot!! Breakfast and lunch, any day of the week. Cafe con leche and a cubano. Yes, please! My brother brought me there on our typical foodie trek though town. The owner, Cesar (sorry if spelled wrong) was very cool. Chatted with us, told me the history and why 1205 - ask! Outstanding food and drink. 5/5 - I am a regular.
The service is outstanding staff is very professional and super friendly wish I would have taken a picture of my omelette but it was so good I couldnt wait. The food was fresh and hot. The Latte is done to perfection overall a great experience I think I found my new spot.
A welcome addition to Columbus. Chef Cesar is a perfectionist in style and quality. A very friendly atmosphere where he introduces himself table by table and thanks you for coming, and to make sure you are satisfied. His staff is equally friendly. You can always expect the best in the quality of the food. The menu is traditional Latin cuisine from breakfast to lunch items. Cesa actually hired a barista for the excellent and varied Coffee menu. We had the French pressed coffee which was excellent. We went for breakfast and had two different egg dishes which were right on the mark. Atmosphere is equally artistic and pleasant. Highly recommend.
I will start with the positive experiences I had. First, the food was really good. The staff was very nice and the place was very nice on the inside. My main issue was the timeliness. We had ordered some eggs, oatmeal and ceviche. The first set of eggs came out after waiting for some time. That person had finished the eggs and it took another 10 minutes after that was done for the next set to come out. Once that person was done, it took another 20 minutes for the ceviche to come out. Once that came out, we sat for another 20 minutes for the oatmeal to come out. On top of that, the oatmeal was just plain. The description said it was supposed to have sugar and something else. We had to request that from the server and that took some time to get as well. The whole time, we stayed there for a total of 1 hour 40 minutes. This is entirely too long. The place has potential, but needs to really work on speed. Also, it would be nice for the whole party to get their food at once so everyone is not watching a single person eat the whole time. Also, Im still not sure why we were charged for the entire egg plate when all we got were the eggs.
My family visited the restaurant Sunday around 1:30 pm. Beautiful location and seems pretty busy. Ordered the special for my children, fried plantain, empanada & 2 sandwiches: Cuban & Criollo.Service can improve. Took quite some time to get the children’s plate and we even talked with owner. Taste of the shredded pork was aceptable, beans a little dry. Cubano & Criollo sandwich: good size, meat portion and taste. Terra chips undercook and tasteless. I would appreciate either home potatoes or even regular chips. Cheese empanada, not impressed. Fried plantains “tostones” good serving size, a little sweeter than regular tostones because they are getting ripening.Overall taste is good, needs to improve in service. I would probably will visit again. The Barista was very friendly and they have good coffee - Alto Grande.
We ordered the breakfast of champion (not pictured), pork ribs, and cuban sandwich. The cuban sandwich was okay. Theres not a lot of taste to it. The pork and steak were moist, not dry, and flavorful. We also ordered the yucan fries with mayo and ketchup mixed together. It was okay. Im giving it 3 out of 5 because we waited for more than 45 minutes for our food to come. Our waiter didnt keep us updated whatsoever, instead.. we had to ask him whats going on.
My first time coming here and probably would be my last. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and welcoming along side with the employees who work there. Everyone was truly nice but the quality of food is absolutely bland, with no flavor what’s so ever. Coming from an authentic Puerto Rican home we use adobo and lots of flavor, that’s what makes a Spanish dish an authentic one. We ordered sandwiches and an empanada, for the price that they charge you can get the ingredients yourself and make it at home! We’re from New York where food just taste completely better than anywhere else and we still haven’t found an authentic place that we could call our second “home”
Whenever I go to a restaurant and theres a Cuban sandwich on the menu, I order it. The Cuban here is probably the best ive ever had. The sweet plantains were almost as good as my abuelas, but the Bodega fries (which are pan fried potato slices) were just ok.They were no longer serving breakfast when we ate, so the menu was a little limited. Hopefully theyll add some more choices as time goes on.I think yuca fries or tostones would be a great additions to the sides list. The service was great for them only being open 4 days when we ate there. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Also, everything is very reasonably priced. We will definitely return for more Cuban sandwiches.
🤷♀️ Stopped in for lunch with the office, it was the first tome for each of us. Our lunch was decent, not what we expected but good. The empanadas were the BEST thing we had. The menu was more limited than we thought it would be. The biggest issue we had was the time it took to get our food, then again to get our check and pay. We took a much longer lunch break that day, unexpectedly......... summary, go when you have plenty of time, and dont forget the empanadas!
We weren’t greeted when we walked in or instructed on whether to wait or seat ourselves. However when we did get a table the server was very kind although he couldn’t pronounce the menu items properly that’s not his fault and he really just needs to be taught. Now I am from Puerto Rico and grew up on this cuisine. But this is not typical Puerto Rican comfort food it is more refined with less flavor, less grease, smaller portions, and a bigger price tag. The tres leches cake desert was rotten, probably from sitting in the cooler to long. This kind of cake with 3 Milks needs to be made fresh at least every other day. It’s not bad if you have a Latin food craving but if your gonna do Puerto Rican food go big or go home. Just wish there was a place close enough that does it right, the way abuelita (grandma) used to. The cafe con Leche coffee is really the only thing I’d buy again.
After seeing this restaurant open I was in very high hopes of great food and service. This was all smashed in the face as we ate here for brunch. The establishment is very nice and cozy. We were sat and our orders taken. This is when it all went down hill. We ordered 2 coffees that took forever and didnt come out together. The appitizer came out and was pretty good. We had an omelet order with white bread, a cuban sandwich, a tortilla espanola, and a mother daughter sandwich. When we asked what was in or in the tortilla the waiter didnt know and then said everything was on the side, which it wasnt. This order came out 1st all by itself. The omlet then came out which didnt have potatoes on it nor have the correct toast. Took 10 mins to get the potatoes and then brought untoasted white bread out. The 2 sandwiches took nearly 25 mins to comeout after the 1st meal was delivered. We watched other tables get all their meals together. We ask and was told it was because of breakfast. Well everything that was ordered was from their brunch menu. I feel this is very poor service. Not once did a manager or owner that was there come and ask how our meal was or service was. The establishment wasnt overwhelmingly busy or crowded so this is no excuse.
I was pleasantly surprised by their cuban sandwich. I grew up in the Florida keys so I have had my share of cuban sandwiches. I must say this was the best I have had in Columbus. The pan fried potatoes were good, could have maybe been fried just a tad more, but still good. I enjoyed my take out meal very much. Will certainly be back again. I once again visited and had another cuban, great sandwich. Potatoes this time great as well. Would like to see if perhaps in the future you might do, black beans, yellow rice, and picadillo. That would be awesome.I am sorry to say I picked up a cuban sandwich today and it was in no way up to their standards. It had been a little while since I bought one but this was not good at all. Potatoes were too cooked and the pork was not good at all, left me belching all afternoon and just did not have a good taste. I wont be finishing the other half up either. Will have to toss it. Hate it when something good comes to town and then after a short while they go down hill. Was very disappointed.
Great food with Cuban/Puerto Rican roots! Bodega 1205 is located just off Boadway in historic Columbus. It has a trendy interior and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff provided outstanding service. The food quality was better than expected! It was fresh and had a homemade feel to it! The portions were generous. Will definitely return to Bodea 1205 again!
Went to get breakfast after working out, asked for a healthy, but filling meal. That omelet with spinach, sauteed onions, ham and tomatoes was heaven, I dont even eat tomatoes, but I ate those perfectly cut and roasted tomatoes. You know what, I think Ill be eating there today!! Cant wait for my meal prep, oh yall didnt know!!! Yup
This place was wonderful, I highly recommend it to everyone, especially those that like a Puerto Rican Cusine. The staff was wonderful. Their food was off the chain, chuletas cancan, trifongo, cuban sandwich and the best red velvet cake ever. I can go on and on, but I suggest you try it for yourself.
Thank you Cesar and Josi for the wonderful food and attention; the menu and staff contributed to the amazing experience my family and I had at Bodega 1205. We had the Ribs, Ropa Vieja, the Pío Pío Soup, and Empanadas de Carne; everything was out of this world in terms of flavor and presentation. Best Latin American Fusion restaurant in Columbus, GA. For those looking for a unique, amazing food, and a welcoming atmosphere go to Bodega 1205, it is conveniently located in the Uptown area near Broadway. Will definitely be back soon!

2022-02-12This place was in one of my Yelp Collections even before moving here so I knew I had to try it as soon as possible.A couple of girls and I had brunch here and they both have been here before. They talked really highly of this place along with their coffee.I ordered the French press coffee which was stellar! And we each ordered a beef empanada which was also fresh and amazing.I was eyeballing the Caribbean chicken even before coming to the restaurant so I ultimately decided on this dish. And my oh my!! The flavors were exploding in my mouth. The ONLY thing I would’ve changed about my experience with the dish I ordered was that the chicken was over cooked so it was chewy just a bit. However, I was able to get past that due to the amazing flavors. The service was also great, environment was very cute, and tables were clean. I really can’t complain about this place! The prices are definitely more than your typical brunch spot. But you’re also getting a bang for your buck with how much food they give you along with the unique taste this restaurant provides.I will be back for sure and 1000% recommend you try it, if you haven’t already!

2022-04-21Came here for lunch and found that breakfast menu is served all day as well. I got the Bodega Benedict. It was good but I did not care for arepas (small pancake on the bottom). It was very dense with a bland taste. The hollandaise sauce was good. My hubby got the Tripleta A LA Bodega. He gives it a 3.5☆ out of 5. There was no cohesion of flavor and needed a fork to eat it because food fall apart on the way to your mouth. The empanada sample was good. Let it cool before you eat though. My daughter got the El Conquistador. The 10 oz steak was thin and getting medium rare is hard. The edges were done but the middle was medium rare. May come back to try something different.

2022-02-13Overall, I say this is just an okay place, but great to try if you’re in the area. A cute little spot in Uptown with great prices!I’ll start with the service, our waitress was very attentive. We got seated quickly and easily. I will say the tables are kind of close together, but plenty of space for the size.I ordered the chicken soup, chicken empanada, and Caribbean chicken with yellow rice and side salad. To drink, I got the freshly squeezed orange juice. The juice was not sweet at all. If I were to eat the orange this was juiced from I would be terribly disappointed. There was so much more pulp than anything in it, not enjoyable at all. The empanada was EXTREMELY dry. I’m not sure if it’s because it was simply just chicken in it or what, but you could definitely pass on that as well. The breading was good, but besides that, not enjoyable. For the more delicious part of my lunch…the soup! Probably the best part of my meal. Extremely flavorful and a huge portion to just he a cup. Definitely add to your order. My entree was also pretty good. The salad was fresh, the chicken and plantain tasted so good! Not like a Caribbean spot, but good for a Latin spot. The rice was kind of dry, but overall, a great meal put together. This is definitely a spot you’d want to try!

2021-11-05The moment we stepped in the restaurant we were greeted right away, the ambience was unassuming, homey and definitely welcoming. We had the can can and it was DELICIOUS! although we were told it was a bit of a wait we did not mind given the many reviews about how good the “can can” is. And it was worth the wait !!! We love bodega 1205!

2022-04-29This is easily the best Cuban sandwich in town! The owners pours their all into this restaurant, and it shows through the delicious authentic Cuban food and inviting, friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed the cuban sandwich (pictured), maduros, & cafe con leche. I dont make the trip down to Columbus often, but when I do, you can find me here!

2022-06-22The food is fresh. Something different in the area. The fresh squeezed juice is my favorite! An option to eat inside or out. Great location.
