Books-A-Million in other cities:
I had a negative review here previously, but in the last year or so, this has become my go to book store. John Michael and Tony specifically have been amazing at helping me find what I need and helping me find other things that interest me. My only issue is that sometimes the website stock isnt accurate, but that might be beyond them to handle. They have a great book selection here with a mix of new and old and east and west.Old review: I usually buy used, but this BAM was closer after my errands so I went there...and I spent 20-25 minutes trying to understand what I was looking at. The fiction section leaves a lot to be desired in regards to organization. Most books are sorted by authors last name, but whoever is responsible for organizing the literature and fiction section is clearly distracted. I had a horrible time finding the book I was looking for because of the lack of consistency, and it wasnt newer texts and authors. The classics (Shelly and Stevenson) were randomly placed on three or four different sections of shelves. For some reason the Setterfield is placed in the Sh section. There is a small section of fiction between Wells and the Westerns that is completely unorganized. I thought originally it was dramas and literary commentary, but it was just a mishmash of random classics in no particular order. I went there to spend money not just browse, but this made it impossible to find what i was looking for, and I cant imagine how asking a sales associate would have helped given the state of the shelves. Whoever is responsible for the integrity of the organizational structure, it is obvious that it hasnt been checked in a while.
As a local business owner I try to support our local stores, even chains like BAM, where I could easily shop online instead. So was quite surprised and disappointed when I found out 5 magazine subscriptions were places in my name without my knowledge from buying a membership. I remember they use to ask you if you wanted one but this was done sneakily and not appreciated at all. I hope this is resolved soon, and if you recently bought a membership here you might want to check your emails.
I love BAM! Check out people are always friendly and they always have the book I am looking for, if not, they have a great recommendation. For the pop culture fanatic they have plenty of that kind of stuff. YA section is very lengthy and is quite entertaining. They will always have my business.
I actually really love this place, the store is clean, selection is amazing, staff is friendly and top notch BUT, checking out is such a hassle that sometimes I wont even buy something because I dont want to go through the sales hassle of discount cards, magazines, etc just to purchase a book. I know they have a job to do so Im not complaining about the staff in general, but if Im going through it Im sure others are as well. I want to buy a book, not feel like Im being sold a used car
The store was well stocked. Employees were wearing facial coverings and they had plexiglas partitions between the cashier and customer. Seems a bit pricey as always, but the new cashier in training wasnt being pushy about joining club. Good place to shop for all kinds of books and games.
Ive been to this location a handful of times. The staff is always friendly and willing to lend a hand. The music is never loud either, so its a great place to grab a book and hide out among the shelves. They have an in-store cafe here as well, but the prices are high for low quality items. I love their selection of gift items. They have all sorts of cute stuffed animals and collectibles. Whatever is popular, they are likely to have some gift.
Of course a good book always helps every once in awhile, and yes I still do read some books in hand not on my reader. Books a million is always clean, the staff is always helpful. If you enjoy reading there of course they always have their coffee shop right inside. They do have good coffee and their baristas are fairly good at their job. A great book and some Joe and some peace and quiet always go great together. Enjoy
Im one of those people who Love books and this is a place you can go if you want the book now. Great selection and if you need help the front desk is there. I love the fact I am not bothered at every turn. I believe a bookstore should allow customers to browse with little interference but be there when you need them. If you are looking for a specific book, then go online and you can check to see if its in stock to reserve it before you go. I definitely would say if you want a book go here.
I love Books A Million! So many books and all for good prices! I also love the stuff there. Not only books but toys that look like amazing gift ideas. Good hangout place with the cafe there. I also love how you can just sit and read. My all time good day would be to just hangout at Books A Million for a while and get sushi. I LOVE BOOKS A MILLION!!
I really want to give this 5 stars but my one caveat is that everytime I go through checkout the cashiers are required to try and pitch the membership to customers. The employees are very nice and professional but I wish management would put less stress on the cashiers to make this pitch with every purchase. Otherwise its a good selection of books at standard new release prices in a nice relaxing environment.
I love books! So maybe Im a little biased in this review but here it goes...this place is awesome! Theyve got books, games, accessories, figurines, apparel, and coffee! Plenty of parking, helpful staff, surplus of reading material and a lot of cool fan based items to satisfy the inner nerd in everyone (thats me 24/7). At one time they even had a special for customers who could catch a Pokemon in the store when the Pokemon Go App first came out. How amazing is that! Public restrooms are available so dont fret. I love this place however the only downside, to which I had an awkward experience, is the coffee vendor in the store. The staff can get pretty chatty and all up in your bubble. I just wanted a drink and a snack and to be left alone with my fiance and the one employee that was working just wouldnt stop joking/talking to us before, during, and after taking our order, and then even after taking our seats she still came up to us to talk. Kind of weird. But all in all AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!
You get 1 star because 0 isnt an option! My Mom went shopping there for a few Christmas gifts last week. She found a cool reading light for my daughter. Upon checking out, she found a lot more reading lights in the knick-knack section. She decided to change the one she had for another one she found, which happened to be cheaper priced (ticketed on product) and seemed nicer. After checking out, she got to the car and thought the price seemed higher than what she anticipated. She double checked her receipt and realized the reading light rang up $13.99 instead of the ticketed price of $6.98. There were numerous lights hand ticketed at that price. She goes back into the store, lets the cashier know that she just bought this reading light but it rang up double what it was ticketed. The cashier responded with Well, I cant sell it to you for that price. My jaw dropped. I didnt ask you too, I was just letting you know that you have products ticketed wrong, you may want to fix it, replied my Mother. She still wanted the gifts, but the fact the cashier was so rude (my Mom didnt even ask to have the price matched, nor wanted to return the items), and the cashier didnt even offer any type of customer service or satisfaction, I will NEVER step foot into another BooksAMillion again!!! Customer service should be your #1 priority as a business and to be so rude and unaccommodating to a customer simply pointing out a mistake on your behalf, shame on you! It didnt even happen to me personally, but 1 negative experience from someone you know is all it takes!! Amazon and our local bookstore will get all of our book money now!
Theyve started catering to well known authors and fandoms. Its all pop culture. The books are WAY over priced.Which sucks too because I would buy way more stuff if there was more to choose from. I know I can have them order what I want but why do that when I can just go online save $ and get faster
I love this place. Everyone is welcome. And the employees are very kind. I went here one and bought dear Even Hansen the book (which is also a Broadway musical) and the employee who was at the register talked about how she enjoyed the musical soundtrack. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. She even helped my grandmother sign up for a discount card thing.
I visit this store every couple of weeks. Staff are always helpful and friendly. They have a great selection of books, hence their name. They also carry collectibles, puzzles, legos, calendars, board and card games, and many other trinkets. I usually go for the graphic novels, as they go on sale often. I and ways go to the clearance section in the back to check what has been marked down, and most of the time its good stuff
I distinctly remember going in during some collection drive for a local charity involving giving books to kids in need. Great, can I bring the books I have at the house? No, these kids in need really only want brand new books straight from our store. Neither us or the charity group profit from this though!
Very large book store. Improved customer service. I was helped and requested a book right away. They used a walkie talkie blue tooth to find out if they had it in the store on line. They did not so ordered it for me. I joined for 25.00 and got 10.00 off my order. I included two more books I wanted. I received free shipping and I am waiting on the books to arrive. You must join for 25.00 to get the free shipping. 10.00 coupon for books under 50.00, 20.00 coupon books totaling over 50.00 Its not as fast as Amazon but your not pressured to buy 25.00 or more worth of stuff. It took 6 days including a weekend for the books to come in. I accidently ordered a Spanish version. Im taking it back to see how their return policy works.
Went to check out and the cashier signed me up for a magazine subscription. When I read the fine print I found out they charge you automatically for the magazine without your permission. I immediately asked her to cancel the subscription and she told me that her manager had to cancel it and of course she wasnt available. Its not the fact that they sell the subscription its the fact that they basically subscribe for a magazine subscription without your permission. No wonder the company is operating in the red.
I only stopped in to pick up my daughter a new book for her trip to california. But when i walked in and saw all the cool stuff they have, like the horror collectibles made the little kid inside of me jump for joy. I will be going back again soon to see what gems i can find.
I agree with Steve, their return policy pretty much isnt a good one. They dont price match, but they will order pretty much anything that you want They have a lot of books. I think their employees are great though. Ive always gotten good service and info anytime Ive asked them about something. And the added bonus is, if they dont know it.they say they dont. I do recommend them if you like books over digital media.
A broad selection of books and some trendy collectibles. Bargains to be had as inventory rotates. There is a cozy cafe too where you can chat with friends or delve into the pages of your new book. If youre an avid reader or are encouraging your little ones to be, their membership card is well worth picking up.
Their Joe Muggs coffee is terrific. Really a nice bookstore with a relaxed, easy atmosphere, help readily available, but not pushy. Until you get to the checkout, that is. I gave 4 stars because the cashiers always shove ads and offers at you when youre trying to pay for your purchase. Its quite annoying. Otherwise, Id give 5 stars.
This is an awesome place, hell you could spend the whole day just looking at all the amazing stuff they have here,we come here to buy our Grandaughter books to read she loves to read and I think thats Great for a 1st grader. Thanks Guys Jeff and Kristy oh yeah they also have a Great snack bar Great Smoothies.
It is a pretty good store. I dont know of many options now days for book stores. Im glad it is still going.I am very picky about what I read because Im not much of a reader but ever time i go there I always leave with something. tons of books for every kind of taste and mood. sure they dont take returns because they dont want people to read a book then return it. which some people will do all the time.
Im not really sure what to even say...bookstores are not what they used to be. Still love that cafe area but there is so much more then just books and it seems like the books are more and more limited and overshadowed by the biggest toy/movie on the market. I want a bookstore to draw me in. To make me read a book I might not typically read or hear about. I want the selection to take me around the world any way and any where I want to go. Options should be limitless. In this sense I was disappointed by sheer commercialism and lackluster disappointments.
Worked here for a short time. The store manager treats his employees like trash if they dont make their discount card sales goal. Please be nice to the employees trying to sell you one because its the one thing that keeps them employed. If it wasnt for that: amazing place. I love it. I still buy books here because warner robins only has two bookstores and the other one is mainly Christian. Which is fine but sometimes I like to read other things.
Selection is okay. I always hit up the discount section though. Thats the best deal. I wish they had a kiosk like Barnes and Noble so you could actually find books. Employees do offer assistance. However, I hate it when I am asked to sign up for magazines at the register. STOP ASKING ME!! Its a scam people, dont do it. You forget to cancel and they charge your card per month. You lose, they win.
You are in wonder land. I love to read everything I can get my hands on. After my stroke, cookbooks helped me focus and cooking was the best form of O.T. for me ever along with jewerly making. The husband and I love to travel and get off the beaten paths, maps work for us along with did you see books. I spend plenty of afternoons discovering books for and series for children also, books can be the best gifts ever.
Helpful employees. Can usually get the books in advance but not cheap. Have gold club card and still what I purchased today was more expensive than at Walmark, though was released early. Walmark said not. Good thing is that is keeps books for a long time and and assembles series. Worth checking for certain books and authors.
This store does not abide by federal exemptions for mask. They refuse entry to people with disabilities that are unable to wear mask. Looking through the window you can clearly see people in the store with masks hanging off their face and not covering their face as the mask are intended. The guy at the front was very rude and confirmed they do not abide by federal mandate exemptions. Will not be spending money at this store.
I was not greeted when I went to get a cup of coffee, I stood there for at least 5 mins till I was helped. I saw a girl with red hair I assumed didnt work there because she was talking to someone off in a corner but eventually she slowly walked to her counter and told me What do you want? in a incredibly rude manner like i had ruined her chat time. This is not the first time that girl with the red hair was rude and slow. last time I went there people before me told me not to even order because of how slow she was! yall need to hire someone with better people skills.
Wow, so theyre re-setting the sections. 19 Xtian sections and not a single section anywhere for any other belief. With the exception of one end cap in the very back. I hope this is just due to the re-setting process, but if its not we will be supporting more tolerant and inclusive shops.

2022-04-18Nice and friendly place. I always take my kids here to read books and they love it. It has a Joes coffee shop inside so you can enjoy a nice coffee or tea while reading.

2021-07-10Weve not had a real bookstore in quite a while so Im biased. $25/year for their club but 10% on purchases - so spend 250$ in a year and youve paid it off (thats 2, 20oz millionaire mochas for 25 Saturdays of sitting there reading books).More family friendly than a B&N, centrally located, plenty of stuff around for shipping - you can easily include this as part of a day out shopping in Warner robins

2021-05-16This is a nice location. After they close the one in Macon I didnt realize they left this location open. We visited yesterday and were thrilled to see a good variety of books as well as the convenience of a coffee shop. Anthony was very friendly and helped me sign up for an annual membership with discounts. Im sure we will visit again.

2022-03-24Tell me why almost every time I come here, I get charged for a magazine subscription I initially refuse everytime. These workers will sign you up even when you say no so they get their little brownie points; now I have to go to the bank to get it fixed AGAIN.
