I have wanted to go to this theatre for years and so glad that I finally did! From the moment that I walked through the doors I felt transported in time. The theatre has maintained its classy look curtains and all. The customer service was very friendly. The bar was a very nice bonus ($6 shots) A real treat for movie lovers.
Nice place to stop in for a bite to eat. Good food and beer selection. The staff was very receptive to my group and got us in and out quickly before we headed next door to catch a movie.I had the cheeseburger and wedges. Wasnt the greatest burger, but I still enjoyed it. The wedges were nice and crispy.
Theres a number of reasons to come to this shopping center. They have a few clothing stores, a bar, and several restaurants within eyesight. Theres also a few shops for running errands like a FedEx, cleaners and shoe repair, the Plaza Movie Theater, and a gym. There parking can be difficult but I generally find a spot. Personally I love the Majestic diner, Buffalo Exchange, and the cleaners in the back.
The Plaza Theater is an amazing place for being the last independently owned and run theater in Ga. It has a very retro vibe. It has a lot of old movie posters on the walls. Every Friday night they put on a shadow cast reenactment of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight.
An older shopping plaza! Very outdated, on s very busy corner. Parking is absolutely horrible! Only free parking is one small lot behind the plaza which filled up very quickly for the event we were attending which was the premier showing of the movie Shaft!!! A local radio station on Atlanta debuted the movie for its listeners as a treat before it hit the regular theaters. The venue was a very old theater build in the early 60s so you can imagine how outdated that was lol. If you visit be prepared to deal with local homeless who have found it comfortable to hang around and lounge. Just my take.
Great little strip mall including Atlantas oldest movie theater--The Plaza. Parking is absolutely a nightmare here as is dropping off passengers. Both points of entry into the parking lot are awkward due to the layout of each street. The stores and theater are great. Im just evaluating the shopping center.
I spend quite a bit of time here at Briarcliff Plaza. Between the theater and the Righteous Room, I practically live here!! The Buffalo Exchange is a great consignment place to sell/buy and the Majestic is just across the street...Not a fan of Urban Outfitters, but does make for fun people watching while having a beer on the patio at the Room :-)
This an old school mini strip mall, its best features are the Righteous Room bar, The Plaza movie theater and The Majestic Diner. The other shops are of little interest and lack any character if youre not shopping. However, it becomes a major task trying to find parking during peak hours and parking in the wrong place and leaving the property will get you BOOTED!
The only reason why its not 5 star is because on a busy day... due to the number of times that youll circle that plaza to find parking is a headache. But I get it. The front lot is not very big however I imagine that it was perfect back in the day day. Fun stuff to do. Some stores have been there for decades and some come and go. Overall its fun to hang the, watch a movie at the plaza theater, grab a bite at the diner, take care of that sweet tooth at insomnia cookies (omg.. forever my love) lol, or even buy an outfit. Plenty to do and great for social people.
The plaza itself is a little dated but Urban Outfitters always has some trendy thing to purchase and the theatre runs with Indy and classics all the time. Find myself here mostly for parking when I go to Majestic Diner for the tasty flattop cooked burgers. Heard the Island flower shop had to leave because of the rent increase for the upcoming renovations...the curse of things changing.
What could you possibly not say about the Briarcliff Plaza limited parking construction you can possibly get run over theres food The Majestic I mean my Lord catch a movie in between trying to dodge a car what a fabulous place especially late at night when the freaks come out
An Atlanta staple located in a very walkable area near plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops. Buffalo Exchange is great, the Plaza Theater is great, Righteous Room is great. The only thing I dislike about this plaza is the Urban Outfitters, but hey, thats not Briarcliffs fault.
The Plaza Theatre is a place that shows movies for those who LOVE the movies! They show a great mix of new and older classics. Although it was built a decade after Atlantas Fox, it has the distinction of being Atlantas oldest continuously run movie venue. NOW it also has a Real Live Theatre Organ, for the first time in its 80-year history, thanks to the Atlanta Chapter of A.T.O.S. You should come early just to hear organist Ken Double (and others) play the pre-show!
One of the most convenient shopping malls and the entire Midtown area always nice and well kept and easy to find parking and a nice place to shop for groceries or even visit the Majestic Diner or a number of other nice locations one of my favorite places to stop because its not congested
Just try to visit any of the business in this area and you will get the boot!!! It will cost you big time if you step off the curb. We went to the car to get our camera to take a photo of friends and you got it ..... The coffee was cheaper than the extortion you have to pay to get your car unlocked!

2022-01-21I only put 4 stars because they would not allow me to add the name of the restaurant. We went to our favorite breakfast spot Majestic. Its located next to the plaza listed. As always the food and service was absolutely perfect. BTW every server had on there mask.

2022-02-02Lots of great businesses in a very cool historic shopping center. Parking can be hard in peak hours but if you circle 3 times you will most likely get lucky. Wondering what happened to Buffalo Exchange??? Me too, I miss them.

2019-04-22A true Atlanta shopping landmark. Built in 1939, Briarcliff Plaza exudes art deco and streamline moderne design. The Plaza Theatre is a wonderful local cinema and the longest continually operating theatre in Atlanta. Also home to the Righteous Room (bar), Urban Outfitters, and more.

2021-08-17If youre looking for a classic shopping center, the classic Atlanta landmark isnt it. Most ofghe shops, including the iconic Plaza Drugs are gone.On the other hand, the theater lives, the diner lives, and the Righteous room remains. You can graze your way to a delightgil evening.
