Edit: The food is still amazing! We had the vegan fried shrimp tacos, chicken ceasear salad, and the chicken enchiladas! Everything was delicious 😋The Food is AMAZING!!! My husband and I went for Sunday Brunch August 30, 2020 for our Anniversary!!! The only reason I gave this place 4 stars (*upgraded to 5 because we came back and everything was superb) is because they were out of the chicken seitan. My husband came for the chicken and waffles and was unable to get it because there wasnt any chicken seitan. We drove almost an hour to get here so that was a little disappointing. The restaurant and restrooms are SUPER clean and the ambiance is relaxing! We ordered the Sesame Soy Chicken and the loaded breakfast burrito and it was so delicious. We had a half stack(one pancake) of blueberry pancakes, and it was so fresh and delectable! It satisfied both of our ravenous appetites. The food came out fresh and hot! We will definitely be back soon for lunch or dinner! This is probably the BEST tasting healthy vegan food I have tasted in a while! This place phenomenal 🙌
Everything was incredible. Was a perfect spot for me wife and Id two year anniversary. Started off with the avacado tacos, then I went with the sesame chicken (amazing), and the wife got the fettuccini alfredo (excellent). We finished things off with a slice of the strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. Both were incredibly moist and sweet. Well be back!
This was the culinary highlight of our trip! They completely take the Vegan cuisine to another level. This is by far the best vegan restaurant weve been to. Totally recommend it!If you are not vegan, dont worry, you wont regret eating here but watchout! you might decide to change your diet afterwards ;) 😉Reservations are recommended as the restaurant is small.
Incredible food. I am not a Vegan, but we went there for an employee that is a Vegan. The food was incredible. I had the eggplant lasagna and my wife had the fettuccine alfredo. We are from California where all the Vegans are from lol, Our Vegan friend was thoroughly impressed with the food. We were in Atlanta for a trade show, and we were disappointed in the restaurants by the convention center, because it cost $20 for parking and had to wait 45 minutes minimum for so so food. Well Sunflower cafe is 12 minutes away from downtown and free parking! We will definitely be back. PS the service was awesome!
7 dollars for this. Food isn’t that good. Kinda bland and plain. I can make better food at home. Ordered a root beer that had no kick or spice to it. It wasn’t even root beer. Just some freaking club soda and some freaking sugar. I can’t stand it when I got to a vegan restaurant and I get something that’s 🗑! Why! Why! Why! Two freaking vegetable rolls cut in half some tasty malnourished leaves! Nah. I’m done. NOT COMING BACK. Very disappointed!
First time eating here. I have mixed emotions about this one. Crispy Brussel Sprouts were soooo good! The breaded outside layer was a little sweet. Also loved the raspberry chocolate mousse! The Vegan Shrimp tacos and plant-based burger and fries were also a hit at our table, very good. Now my main dish which was the vegan sesame soy chicken was good, yet VERY sweet, tooo sweet. They seem to put that sweet sauce on alot of there dishes. Someone had the nacho cheese at our table, did not like and switched the order. The waitress was OK, should have been stellar service since she received an automatic 20% gratuity from our party of 9. We were there celebrating a birthday.
The food here is so amazing! I ordered the impossible burger with lettuce bun. It was so incredibly similar to texture of a beef burger! Very flavourful and delicious. To drink, I ordered the green something with citrus (I forgot the name). It was surprisingly delicious. I wanted 2!! Intimate ambience (low lights, candle vibes). My server was great. She was very attentive and pleasant. Cant wait to go back with my husband whos not vegan but, I know hell love this place! Highly recommended!
All I can say is WOW! The food here is so good none of it taste vegan. All the flavors are there and I love the decor. My friend wanted to try this place and we enjoyed every last thing we ordered. Normally after eating these types of food youll feel tried but, im glad at this place you get the taste without the energy lost lol. definitely will be back.
Loved loved loved. The sesame soy chicken was absolutely delicious and had a moist pleasant heat to it. The garden loaf was on point in texture, however it had a seasoning/flavoring that was just a bit overpowering. The Beet It Up cocktail was great as was the hot Sake. The German Chocolate cake was a little dry and could have used more icing. But it was tasty. I cant wait to explore more if their menu.
I had brunch on valentines day and it was delicious. There was a long wait (as expected) but it was well worth it. We had the chicken and waffles and the sesame soy chicken. The chicken and waffle was ok, but the sesame soy chicken was AMAZING. I dont have a clear picture of the sesame chicken, but you should still get it. (My boyfriend isnt a vegan, but he loved it too! Hes a tough critic lol)
Saying this as a non-vegan/non-vegetarian, it was hands down the best vegan food Ive ever had! Went there with my boyfriend during our Atlanta trip, and it was worth the money. Large portions, and the flavors were amazing! Definitely try the crab cake entree and their raspberry chocolate mousse cake. Will definitely be coming back here next time were in Georgia!
Went there for their Sundays brunch with friends. I had their tofu benedict and my by the blueberry pancakes. It was very yummy but I felt like the dish presentation could be a little bit better considering it is an high end restaurant. Still enjoyed very much my brunch!
Wow the “chicken Biscuit” had me questioning if it was really vegan. It was soooo goood!! It has a sauce on it and typically don’t like sauces but it was amazing! Sort of reminded me of a jam. The green juice was fabulous. They also have an outdoor space if you don’t want to be inside.
5/5 stars for the food, the menu was so diverse. It felt like the menu wasn’t a ‘vegan’ menu but a normal menu at any restaurant, but Cafe Sunflower just made everyday options vegan! The food was so good!! The carrot cake is to die for. The only reason I give it 4 stars was because of the ambiance. The decor, furniture, dress code, and miscellaneous additions gave a mixture of sophisticated and casual, and I’d rather it be one or the other.
1st time trying out this vegan restaurant and I will definitely be back next time I am in Atlanta. There are so many options here it was hard to choose. Ended up getting the spring rolls, Buffalo lollipops with ranch and the sesame soy chicken. Everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly.
I took my meat eating friends from SC and they enjoyed it! We thought we left room for the dessert but as you can see from the half eaten cake slices (they are super huge by the way!) we didnt.I had my favorite... eggplant lasagna. The combination of veggies and the sauce is delightful!!Oh speaking of sauce..the raspberry sauce that is paired with the carrot cake is AMAZING!!
Very good vegan alternative. Spring rolls were delicious. Butternut squash soup could have had a little more seasoning, sprinkle a little salt and pepper from the table, and its decent. Nachos and potstickers, delish!! Beyond burger had a different kind of preparation it seemed but good as you would expect.
It wasn’t our first time here but still amazed with the freshness and creative dishes they offer. Service was great, even though it was a long wait for our desert, may be the ice cream was freshly made. Still worth 5 stars, for the service! Love that this place is run by the same family for 25 years!
Delicious vegan fare with a modern decorative style our waiter was great, very attentive for the party I was apart of. The hostess was very polite and helpful with the reservation process. I had the crab cakes and I was blown away with how tasty they were! Being a vegetarian, its very hard to find a good restaurant with vegetarian options, let alone an entire menu. Thanks for making it happen!
Words can’t describe how much I needed this chicken biscuit. Cafe Sunflower simply isn’t capable of making a dish that isn’t bursting with incredibly delicious flavor. It’s only been two hours and as I look at this photo, I’m already wishing I could go back and get another plate. Maybe next time, the blueberry pancakes. Or the biscuits and gravy. Or the chicken and waffles. Damn, I wish it was next weekend right now...
The food was great! The menu had options that you really cant find in other vegan restaurants. And doesnt even feel like youre eating vegan food for most of the dishes. I would recommend if youre trying to show people some great vegan foods that dont compromise taste.
*UPDATE*My first experience was ok and decided to give it another try. This experience was great! Much better than the first! I would recommend Café Sunflower to those who are in the vegan community AND those that arent.Third time dining and again, they knocked it out of the park! Great food and atmosphere. We went when they first opened so it wasnt very crowded.
Bland food. 😒 I ordered the shrimp tacos and spinach artichoke dip. Both were edible yet not much flavor. Considering the prices and extra charge for carryout, this will be my first and last time eating at Cafe Sunflower. I can see why its a popular vegan spot, because the menu items sound appealing. I just wish the food was prepared with seasoning. 🤷🏾♀️
Came here for Sunday brunch. Ordered the chicken biscuit with a side of tofu scramble and home fries and the breakfast burrito. The chicken biscuit with the jalapeno marmalade was on point (dont worry the jalapeno marmalade is not spicy). The tofu scramble was good but I would personally reduce the amount of turmeric that was added to cook it. And the home fries that came with my meal felt like it was sitting out for a while so didnt taste fresh hence the 4 stars. The breakfast burrito was veggie. Will surely be back to try the blueberry pancakes or the chicken and waffles. Oh and yes, my beet juice with mimosa was real tasty too!
This is one of my favorite vegan spots in Atlanta. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. Being greeted by name and having my online order fresh and ready for me when I arrive always makes for a great experience after a long day of work. If you’re looking for delicious food and a mellow atmosphere this is the place for you!!
Family decided to go here for dinner last night. Made reservations for 5:30 PM. I had never been here, but my son-in-law and daughter had.Very nice atmosphere, nothing like the photos on their website, which make it look like a deli/diner type place. Its actually very spacious and comfortable.Everything was delicious and the service was great, although a bit pricey. Nevertheless, I was prepared to leave a 20% tip. However, when I got the check, gratuity had already been calculated into the total. It was less than I was giving, but I was a bit taken aback. There were 3 adults and 2 kids under 10. When I asked, I was told parties of 5 and above they add the gratuity. That didnt sit right with me, because of the kids ages, and the fact that I didnt see anything posted ANYWHERE in the restaurant or on the check in regard to gratuity; it was just assumed and charged - a bit presumptuous to me.Normally, I dont pay attention to things like that, but when I was calculating the tip, the gratuity suggestions didnt add up and my daughter actually pointed out the tip had already been added and there was another line for an EXTRA TIP.That being the case, the waitress missed out on more of a tip, as I went with what was already calculated (17%).My suggestion to the restaurant would be to at least, notify the patrons of the charge. I couldve refused to pay ANY tip after seeing the calculation.Had we not noticed, the waitress wouldve received a $70+ tip. I wonder how many people are like me and just add a tip and sign without scrutinizing the total? That could be a lot of money for someone who really cant afford it!Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience, but not sure Ill be going back.
Delicious food, great vibe, and the whole menu is vegan! our server was super nice too!Orzo eggplant lasagna was really nice. The tofu ricotta inside was very flavorful. My friend ordered the spicy pad thai with mild spicy and there was so much delicious sauce- it was also very good. Everything tasted very fresh! The fried dumplings were DELICIOUS! Spinach artichoke dip was also yummy. We got carrot cake to go and it was super flavorful and spiced very well:) too sweet for my taste but thats me with anything sweet.10/10 recommend whether you are vegan or not:) it is a bit expensive but thats because your getting high quality ingredients and great food!
Amazing food! I am not a vegan but I LOVED everything we ordered. You cannot even tell the difference with their soy sesame chicken or the lasagna. You have to try the desserts; the chocolate raspberry ganache is delectable.(Highly suggest the seasonal strawberry shortcake while it lasts.)
My daughter is vegetarian and loves this place and for me, if I have to eat vegetarian in Atlanta, this is a good choice. My faux fish dish was very tasty and nicely presented. Only reason Ive docked a star is it is quite pricy. All entrees are in the $18-$22 range, even the beyond burgers.
One of my favorite vegan spots in town. Im working my way through the menu which has all been great so far, but the nachos, lasagna, and Sesame Soy Chicken are particularly delicious. Ive also tried a handful of their desserts (chocolate cake and raspberry chocolate mousse are my favs) which are always great portion sizes and delicious. It can be a little pricey but its definitely worth it for a good date night spot
This was a great experience. The staff was so nice and courteous. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu. The wait was very short from the time we were seated to the time our first appetizer came out. The food was so delicious. I suggest the pan fried dumplings for sure. I could go on for ever about suggestions, because everything was so good.If I wasnt told we were at a vegan restaurant, I wouldnt have guessed. We met one of the owners, and surprisingly she was one of the people who helped us during our lunch service. She was so sweet. I will most definitely be going back. I will suggest this place to everyone. Five star experience for sure.
Unfortunately some of the items we ordered were not available anymore at the time of our dinner, but that happens, so it does not stop me from rating this a 5*.The food was really good. Flavors were harmonious, not too fatty, and we enjoyed every aspect of our meal. We had the Meat loaf and the cashew alfredo. It was really awesome. Not a big fan of the meat loaf, but the side on it was really good, and the gravy delicious. We took to slices of cake to go, as they were closing soon, and they were really good too.Our waitress was super attentive, and the ambient is smooth and inviting. We will definitely be back, maybe a little earlier next time. :-D
It was a great experience for us as we tried vegan restaurant for the first time. The staff is courteous and the place has nice seating arrangements indoors and outdoors. They aren’t taking any reservations as of now due to COVID; it is first come first serve. We got our table within 15-20 minutes of waiting time. We ordered spring rolls as appetizer and shrimp tacos with spicy pad Thai noodles for entrees. The food was delicious and very healthy. The only thing I felt was that it was bit pricey as compared to the quantity of the food.
Let me start with the fact that I am not a vegetarian. However, I love and know good food. This place is AMAZING!!! The atmosphere, friendliness and whole vibe is coupled with excellent customer service. The food is so delicious and flavourful!! My only regret is that I cant visit more often because I dont live in GA. My bff and other vegetarian friends that do frequent this restaurant do so because they are never disappointed.
OMG! My eyes were way bigger than my tummy! Crispy Brussels Sprouts were perfectly cooked - not to hard or soft and bright green! The Pesto was phenomenal - especially if you enjoy tart pasta...the capers, artichokes, broccoli & mushrooms were sooo good!I didnt even try my husbands meal! He had the Sesame Soy Chicken & wasnt complaining 👍🏽👍🏽Def will be back!
What a wonderful first time! We had a great experience, thanks to Taylor, the sweet server. She was nice enough to go through the menu with us, & to make personal suggestions. Taylor catered to the fact that I have nut allergies & really went the extra mile to make sure that I could enjoy my food.Thank you, Taylor! The food was great, but it was your service that really made our date night! :)
Cafe Sunflower has definitely lost its luster throughout the years. Came back for the first time last fall and wasnt impressed but thought it was just the dish that I ordered. I went in today and ordered something different, the food still isnt up to par; no flavor whatsoever. If I werent used to vegan food and ate here for the first time as if lately, I would be convinced vegan food isnt flavorful and wouldnt be worth trying again. Cafe Sunflower used to be so good about 10 years ago. Theyve changed their menu and gotten rid of the best stuff. The service is okay but I wont ever be returning.
Chelsea was our waiter and she was fantastic! It was our first time eating here (and certainly not the last). She was extremely helpful in picking what we ordered (Fried avocado tacos, Pad Thai, and Pesto Pasta)! And the food was excellent! We loved everything we had! They also took covid precautions very seriously which was great. Absolutely fantastic experience!
This place absolutely slaps. Their dumplings are legendary, and they’re a total must-buy starter to keep you occupied as you wait for the flawless sesame tofu dish. Somehow they make the tofu achieve this wonderful crispy, yet slightly chewy texture, which pairs perfectly with the sweet and savory sauce. Overall it’s a 5/5 experience, I’d totally recommend
We loved this space. Service was great and the food was amazing. We had the pesto pasta, Alfredo pasta, avocado tacos, nachos, Buffalo lollipops and chocolate ganache. All gluten free. We visited 3 times in 24 hours. Def a must see when in Atlanta. You don’t have to be vegan to find something here you will love.
Last week, March 10, 2021, I was offered a position at Cafe Sunflower Buckhead as a Server. In my interview last week with the Assistant Manager, prior to my first day out on the floor, I was told that I would be completing two weeks of training as a Server, Hostess, and Food Runner due to the fact that I would be performing those tasks. I was eager to provide service to customers, as well as perform team work with colleagues.Today, March 16, 2021, was my first official day in training with the Assistant Manager. She explained my responsibilities, task, and also gave me a walk-through of the restaurant before opening. We completed all of the opening task required. Shortly after Cafe Sunflower opened up for the day, I assisted my Assistant Manager with serving customers.Unfortunately, three hours into my shift, I was told by Annie (General Manager) that I was only there to shadow instead of train. I was also told that they would be hiring a different server instead, and that they would keep me as a backup server, if needed. Annie went onto state that my position as a server was never a guarantee. The truth of the matter is that I was hired by the Assistant Manager, and fired by the General Manager, before I was able to finish my shift.Today was my first time meeting Annie, and I truly believe that discrimination played a factor in my dismissal from the restaurant. I performed all the necessary task, assisted my Assistant Manager with opening the restaurant for the day and serving customers, just to be offered a free meal to compensate me for the three hours that I worked non-stop. I did not get paid the hourly rate that I was told I would receive; which means that I worked for free.Although the food is great there, the management needs some improvement. I hope that this post will shed some light on things that happen behind the scenes.
We really enjoyed eating here! This is the first time I have ever seen vegan gluten free pasta served at a restaurant and I jumped on it. The fettucii alfredo was really good, very hearty. It could have used some salt but overall was good. I havent eaten that since before I was vegan, over 7 years ago. So this was really great to get. My wife also got spring rolls which were really good.
This place was absolutely amazing. I made a reservation just in case. My friend and I ordered the buffalo chicken eggplant lasagna veggie pad tai fried avocado tacos and spring rolls. Our favorite was a tie between avocado tacos and eggplant lasagna. Pad tai was good but the tofu in it was tough. Spring rolls were OK. Service is awesome. Buffalo chicken was very good but only 3 drumsticks was a little disappointing for the price. Will definitely come back!
I always love coming here! Their dessert assortment is the best in the city and their cashew fettuccini Alfredo is to die for. I also just recently tried their bacon beyond burger and my carnivorous friend almost fell off her rocker with how real it tasted! Thank you for proving that vegan food can taste good.
Awesome place & fantastic food!!! It feels great to go to a restaurant where I can order anything & not worry if its vegan or not! Also, customer service was the best Ive ever seen. Food came faster than 10 minutes & the atmosphere was chill and soothing. Overall, just a great place!
Wish I took a picture of my food but I was just too disappointed. I had the vegan Bacon beyond burger w/ fries. Everything was cold. Fries were cold and soggy like it was left in grease. Also the appetizers tasted microwaved, pretty much like TV dinners. My aunt wanted the eggplant without the tofu ricotta pasta but the server said its already pre-made so that right there alone, tells me your food is not freshly made. Anyone who thinks this place is good, either CANT cook, so anything they eat tastes good to them or simply enjoy eating bland food. Then again this is buckhead.... yea, you get what Im saying. 0/10 for me.
Had a great experience here. Not many vegan restaurants are a nice sit down place, and this is. The service was great. I did not care for the meatloaf at all. It was flavorless, however my fiance had the shrimp tacos and they were really good. They did offer to make me something else, but I felt bad wasting the food.
Came starving with a friend, randomly decided to drop by. Giselle was our waitress - she was cool and quick. We had the fried avocado tacos, supreme nachos, eggplant lasagna and some cakes. WOW we were blown away & tried as much as we could. Please try this place - vegan works!!! O&R
I dont have enough words to describe this place. All vegan and fresh items. I have been pescatarian for a year and have been waiting to try this place... We ordered the pan fried pot stickers and I was PLEASANTLY surprised at the taste. Ive not had any pot stickers since I stopped eating pork. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger because I wanted to see what the bacon taste like. The burger was phenomenal. Juicy and tasty, seasoned well and not overcooked. The infused Strawberry lemonade was yummy too. My companions for lunch had the Pad Thai noodles. She highly recommends them. I tried them and enjoyed them. Seasoned perfectly. Do yourself a favor and try this place out.
Excellent food and experience! Chelsea totally took care of us! Food was delicious, especially the lasagna. Its been my experience that its overall pretty difficult to find vegan food that makes you say WOW but Sunflower beat my expectations. Great service and reasonable prices. Well be back!
Food is vegan, service is awesome, ambiance is nice especially in the evening, the music isnt loud and overwhelming and if youre into healthy vegan eating this is for you. However for me theres not enough food for the price and you basically leave out hungry, unless of course you dont mind spending over $30 on a single meal. I like lots of meat with my dishes especially the Chinese inspired ones and it leaves it you wanting when you only get a few pieces with a lot of vegetables and youre used to a big plate full of meat and vegetables.Appetizers are good though especially the buffalo drum sticks, so if moneys a non-issue for you then go for it, its an awesome place!! But as for me I need more bang for my buck so this might not work for my appetite.
I visited Cafe Sunflower during COVID. They’re doing reservations (per usual) and to go orders only. Only a certain amount of people can be in the restaurant. The service was amazing! This was my first time here and the best service I’ve received in years.Server was very attentive, friendly, helpful, and spontaneous.Food presentation was pretty. Quality of food was fresh and delicious! The chefs are killing it! ❤️I appreciate the staff and the restaurant for excellent quality and service especially during these times.Vegan friendly and this was the best vegan food I’ve ever had!
Cafe Sunflower is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The dishes are so tasty and satisfying, and the desserts... sometimes I just go for dessert. If a friend is having a celebration I will come here to pick up a slice of chocolate cake for them, its amazing. I had the chocolate ganache last night and it was delectable. Our waitress was delightful and the ambiance just right for a romantic date. I have also celebrated my birthday here, and my family was surprised by how good vegan food could be.I highly recommend this Cafe Sunflower
Wonderful food, wonderful service, and perfect for a formal group event! We rented the private event room for our wedding rehearsal dinner. They were very patient in working with us to settle on our menu for the evening. We were able to accommodate a wide variety of taste preferences. Our guests (even those who normally eat meat!) told us how much the enjoyed the food. The wait staff and service throughout our dinner was very attentive and made sure everyone in the large group received their food in a timely manner. The event space was a bit tight for 32 people, but we appreciated having a quiet space for our group that was a bit separate from the main restaurant.
Wow!!! This place was amazing. We ordered three different dishes and all of them were delicious. We ended up ordering a slice of each of their cakes (carrot, red velvet, coconut vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, and gluten free chocolate) each one was amazing. Took them home and still working on eating them. I’ve had a lot of vegan food and cakes, good vegan cakes are hard to come by. These ones are perfect. Highly recommend. The only thing that I found surprising was that they only had soy and almond milk options fro coffee and they were out of almond milk so I couldn’t get coffee. They def need a few more plant based milk options, especially oat and coconut milk cause they go great with coffee.
I was disappointed by my meal. I ordered the Spicy Pad Thai Noodles, which is vegan if you dont use fish sauce and egg. So its not much of an ask to make it a awesome vegan dish. Flavor was under whelming and the noodles were just a blob stuck together. Virtually no spicy to it at all. Egg rolls were fine. For $20 worth of food not worth it.
The food was really good. I had the crispy brussels they were SOOOOOOO good, the batter on them reminded me of funnel cake batter minus the sweetness and there was something similar to a Thai chilli sauce on them that put them over the top. I also had the spring roll halves that were nice and crispy, steamed dumplings which were plump with filling, and the fried avocado 🥑 tacos...yum yum yum 😋. I will definitely be back!!!
First came here as a non-vegan with vegan family members, and it was great! At least for me, there really is no difference in taste and the food & service is excellent. I’ve been back a few times since going vegan myself and it’s always great. The only thing I would change is adding the blueberry pancakes to the other menus! I’m obsessed.
My boyfriend and I came here last night for my birthday dinner and it was AMAZING!! We got the scallops, crab cake fritters, chicken parm, Alfredo and two pieces of cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was great too! I like that they also have a full drink list. This is a great place to go for a more upscale vegan meal. We cannot wait to go back!
They told me I had a 2 hour wait, after 30 minutes I ordered takeout, but soon after I realized that ppl who waited after me already got seated, so that was really upsetting, the hostess could have warned me that I was coming up on the waitlist next, I told her I traveled far to eat here. So I spend $20 to get here, and $20 to get back for takeout that sat for 15 minutes (so I’ll eat it cold). I had to ask for my food and it was already sitting for over 15 minutes. I will never come back or recommend.
The dining area is very suitable, liked the atmosphere it has. If someone was playing music from their playlist, or otherwise, I liked that vibe. The hostess, whose name I should have requested was sweet. The service I received from my server, Giselle was good. I really liked that she checked up on me after bringing the meal. We chatted later and she didnt come off cold or guarded. There wasnt anything terribly wrong with my order. However, I really expected to be WOWD based on what I ordered, compared to less hyped places Ive recently visited and I wasnt. Plus its Buckhead so I really had higher expectations. Thus, Im not able to give a five star rating on this go, maybe on the next visit.
This restaurant was amazing! I was in town for a few days and had dinner dates with 2 different friends on 2 of the nights. I found this one via a Google search and boy am I glad I did. We dont have vegan restaurants of this caliber where I live. When I walked in the first thing I saw was a sign referencing scallops and I thought Id made a mistake. Then I read closer and saw where it said everything was vegan. I was super excited. For appetizers, I ordered the spring rolls and dumplings...good enough, I make that at home. For entrees, my friend (who is an omnivore) ordered the cauliflower steak and I ordered the crispy shrimp tacos. Both very delicious. I dont know how they did it but they got the shrimp texture down to a science. Desserts were decadent but we werent craving sweets. Come here, you wont be sorry!
Went for the Valentines/my birthday meal. It was a 5 course meal. Started with the carrot soup, was good, similar to a butternut squash soup. Could have used a bit of salt, but was still good. Mediterranean salad, sushi, shrimp and cauliflower risotto was delicious. The tiramasu was good but the raspberry sherbert was divine. I would give the experience 5 stars. The menu only gets 4 due to the Portobello Wellington being extremely bland. There was not an ounce of seasoning on any of the veggies that were wrapped in the Wellington itself. The puree on the bottom of the plate did not go at all. I say toss the Wellington recipe or start over. Otherwise it was a great experience overall.
Everything is great here. I am a ribs eater and for me to like this type of food its amazing. If only i knew how to cook like this i would eat healthy all the time. Tried to hire someone to teach a class for me didnt care too much about the costs but they apparently dont offer that. Too bad they could make good revenue from it.
Its not easy to find, but Cafe Sunflower is worth the effort. Tucked into an upscale community of town homes and apartments, its on the lower level with ample parking. We went here to celebrate a birthday, and had a great time. Its a white tablecloth kind of establishment, but the atmosphere is fine casual. We enjoyed flavorful entrees served by efficient staff. I recommend the Cafe Sunflower burger (beautifully plated and so flavorful).
Great date night. The nachos were so good. We were blown away at how delicious the vegan queso was and the flavor of the bean chili. I got the soy chicken enchilada and the flavor was so delicious. My boyfriend loved the sunflower burger. Our waitress was great and we were seated quickly which was impressive for a Saturday night at 7:00. Loved this location and we will definitely be back soon.
Me and my friend were passing through Atlanta and looked for a place to get a vegan lunch and found your place. We really enjoyed the food and service. Thank you for providing vegan food options in a world saturated with animal products! Will definitely recommend your place or visit again if I am ever in the area again
SO GOOD! I had Cafe Sunflower for the first time last week and had the curried vegetables entree with some of the spring rolls as an appetizer. Absolutely divine! The service was on par with the food quality, if you can believe it. You should try it ASAP if you haven’t yet.
This was my first experience with a vegan restaurant (at the request of my niece, for her 13th birthday) and I have to say I was absolutely blown away!! The food was amazing, and I dont mean amazing for vegan food, but I am saying the food would stand up against any traditional restaurant serving similar items. The appetizers were excellent, my only complaint (for the entire meal) was that the corn chips which came with one of the apps were not at all good, somewhat stale & almost without flavor, however that being said the dip totally made up for it. They have a few menu items that are sort of masquerading as their real meat counterparts which we all agreed were as good or better than the real thing. Some of us ordered new things wed never had before based on recommendations from friends, and some ordered a bit more safely with items we were familiar with. We all tried a little of everything & not one of our meals was anything less than spectacular!! I wish I could give it a higher rating, if it were a 10 point rating it would be 9.9 the only improvement I could recommend would be to expand the menu a bit (both beverages & food items), and of course the chips 😋. If, like me, you have a friend or family member who either doesnt want to even try vegan or if you have family who may need to adjust their diet for health reasons, definitely take them to Café Sunflower it will make a convert out of anyone!!!
Words cannot express how poorly a friend and I were treated by multiple members of the staff at Cafe Sunflower in Buckhead on April 6, 2021. Upon entry my friend and I (both black males) were not greeted, but instead the host (a white female) engaged in an awkward staring contest as if she had forgot her job is to “warmly welcome” patrons into the restaurant.Further, most restaurants go to great lengths to staff attractive and/or bubbly people in the role of host staff. Instead, the host apathetically informed me the restaurant was no longer seating guests and only would accept to-go orders. This was a shock to me as I stood at the host stand at 8:02 pm. Moreover, the Google business page states the restaurant closes at 8:30 pm, meaning last seating would be at 8:15 pm at the earliest (per standard restaurant operating procedures). So then I asked the host would it be possible to accommodate us given it was only two minutes after the newly implemented closing time of 8:00 pm. The host callously repeated her previous statement as if I did not hear her the first time, at which time I asked to speak with a manager.I was told no manager was available and instead an equally unwelcoming server (white female- Taylor) emerged and reiterated the same tired verbiage of the host and added the early closing was due to a lack of wait staff and the kitchen being “in the weeds”. Finally after presenting a Supreme Court worthy appellate argument for why we should be seated my friend and I were seated. The sad part is while I cannot definitively say we were racially profiled by the staff it sure felt that way, as I stood there as a 36-year-old black man with my childhood friend adorning his natural locs. Moreover, all I could think was would two white men in suits be treated this way or two Buckhead Betty(s) (a colloquial term for affluent white women in Buckhead that do not work.)Further, the food came out on time, with no delays for the appetizers or entrees. In fact the entrees arrived while we were still eating our appetizer. The bottom line is a restaurant is the last place that should make any one feel unwelcome, as such a disposition is antithetical to hospitality. In that moment I felt like I was transported to the 1960(s) being told I could go around back to get my food. Why should I have to feel this way? Why should I have to revisit these uncomfortable feelings as I unpack this stressful interaction? I promise it is equally stressful as I try to accurately articulate the events of the evening. Most people in a restaurant setting have to pay sales tax, an excise tax for alcohol, and gratuity. However, on this evening my friend and I paid a “black tax”, that is an extra transactional cost paid by people of color merely due to the color of their skin.
I’ve been to Cafe Sunflower many times—mostly for brunch, but also for their Valentine’s Day dinner. Everything I’ve had has been excellent. The food is well-worth the price, and I’ve never been disappointed. If you can swing it and if you make a reservation in advance, the Valentine’s dinner is to die for. Wait times can be a little long for brunch on Sunday, but I’ve never waited more than a few minutes if I made a reservation within a few days of coming. Highly recommend—one of Atlanta’s gems!
This restaurant has been the highlight of my life since becoming a full-fledged vegan last year. The food is phenomenal, the staff quite knowledgeable and display nothing short of stellar customer service. It’s perfect for the beginning Vegan, or the individuals who are transitioning from Vegetarian to Vegan. It is a family friendly environment, perfect for date night, girls night I’ve even seen a single man sitting down to eat! Perfect venue for everyone! The price is right too!
Called in a to go order to pick up. Lots of parking. We had the sliders and spring rolls for apps. The fettuccine alfredo and the chicken parmigiana for dinner. And the raspberry chocolate cake for dessert. Almost $70 but worth it. So amazingly divine. Very polite girl at the front. Got the order 100% accurate.Vegans deserve this kind of food.Absolutely amazing!!!
Love, love, LOVE this restaurant! It’s my favorite vegan spot in Atlanta. I’ve brought multiple non-vegan friends here and they have loved it too.Best menu items: steamed dumplings, loaded nachos, black bean quesadilla, Mac n cheese (when they have it on menu), Jamaican black bean patties (at Sandy Springs location), soy chicken... the list goes on.The service is also great and I love that they have hot tea & green juices on the menu too.Oh, and their vegan cakes are to.die.for. Try the chocolate raspberry mousse cake and you will be glad you did.*they also have great gluten free options here too :)
Everything from the kind staff to the atmosphere and delicious food were perfect. The best soy sesame chicken I’ve ever had, and vegan fried avocado tacos! They have a lot of good vegan and gluten free options. I was very pleased with this visit and plan on coming back very soon!
We had the Buffalo Lollipop, Dumplings, Shrimp Tacos and the Orzo Lasagna. The best parts of it all were the vegan blue cheese and the salsa sauce. Everything else was edible at most. The food is overpriced and very pretentious. As a vegan, I am utterly disappointed with the quality and quantity of food.
Came here for the first time ony birthday this week and loved it. My server was very personable and attentive and the food was amazing. My friend and I ordered a mushroom scallop appetizer and the pad Thai noodles and ravioli. I really enjoyed the atmosphere too. Ill definitely be back in the future. Its a little privy but worth it.
Incredible vegan food and desserts. This has been our familys favorite restaurant for over a decade. Their vegan fettucine alfredo is the best Ive ever had and the sesame chicken dish has been the reason we drive over 2 hours to eat here. Ask for a side order of chicken nuggets and try the spring rolls for an appetizer. The old fashioned chocolate cake is insanely perfect.
My husband and I recently became vegetarians/vegans... Still figuring that part out. The most difficult part is finding places to eat that encourages and supports the diet. I came across this place and was thrilled to see such a wonderful variety of supportive food choices! Everything is fresh and delicious! The staff was incredible and the location is great. Its not super dressy, but simply casual which is also nice.I will definitely be going there often. Oh, and the quesadilla that I ordered was amazing too!
Food was okay. If you are vegan, youll probably love the place. I fully admire the creativity in how they design their vegan dishes and create alternatives for meat, but the taste wasnt that good, all the hot food was cold, the cold food was hot, the portions were unbearably small, some of the flavors were just bad too (Ive had frozen vegan food that tastes better), and everything was extremely over priced. I even heard other customers complaining about how they wished a different vegan restaurant in town had been open that night because they didnt like it either. There was also a wierd pushy hostess who I felt like was also the owner? She was always hovering uncomfortably but generally nice... the whole atmosphere made me feel like I was on an episode of Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares.
I originally went to Benihana for vegan sushi but the atmosphere was much less and pleasurable so I got on the Internet and search for local restaurants. The Sunflower came up so I went across the street and walked in. The atmosphere is very pleasing and the food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely be coming back again and again.
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch here with my fiance and a friend. I love a place where I can get vegan biscuits and gravy - I enjoy cooking vegan at home wiping this dish up at home is a lot of work. I enjoyed a tender and flavorful biscuit here with a pretty good, seemed like almond milk based, gravy. I also ordered a side of their chicken seitan. Tender, juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. My fiance had a huge smothered breakfast burrito a side of their home fries and my friend had a pancake with blueberries. They both enjoyed their meals. Good coffee too with multiple non-dairy milk options. Quick and friendly service too.
I cant BELIEVE how good this restaurant is. The butter tasted incredibly similar to dairy butter, like...eerily so, how did they do that? The rolls seem homemade. I got the burrito with cheese and it was colorful, beautiful, delicious, and filling. Excellent atmosphere, our server was really on top of things, and I just generally really enjoyed my time at Café Sunflower. Ill be back!
I tried this restaurant for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! As someone who has a peanut allergy, I appreciate the fact that they label the menu items to inform the customer if an item includes nuts or gluten. The Sesame Soy Chicken and Fried Dumplings were great! I’ll definitely be back to try Sunday brunch.
As always....never have we ever been disappointed. 10 years and running actually more like 15-18 years....Anyways, I would love to build/fund their restaurant expansion into the Gwinnett area. We need more of your wonderful talented chef skills teaching healthy alternatives to eating food.
Our favorite go to place for Vegan food.. you put your hand on anything on the menu, and it will turn out super tasty as well as healthy.. best things to try: avocado tacos, soy chicken dishes, spring roll, soups, etc. Only the steamed dumplings seemed a bit dry.. one of our fav local places already!
The food was great however my issue is with cleanliness! My beverage cup had pink lipstick remains clearly visible from another customer, the plate and silverware at the table also had food residue remains on them. In addition their was a strand of hair on the table that did not belong to myself or anyone else at the table and lastly but not least the woman’s restroom did not have a changing table for babies which was super surprising. Again the food and service was great but the lack of cleanliness was extremely alarming I will not be visiting this establishment again.
Not impressed at all... Too bad. I really want these Vegan restaurants to be awesome, but a lot turn out to be VERY expensive, poor service (like this one), and attempting to provide imitations of meat dishes with strange vegetarian concoctions. The results are usually just plain strange and feel like rocks in my stomach. Why dont we just have a whole new menu of choices that dont attempt any imitations of meat dishes? Surprise us! Also, lets be real with the prices. Who can afford an $18 meatless burger? Lord have mercy...
My FAVORITE vegan restaurant. The Sunday brunch is SO good. The chicken biscuit, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy are my favorites. I would come here every single Sunday if I could. Make sure you make a reservation for Sunday brunch if you want to be seated immediately! I’ve been here a few times during their normal menu, and I love the sesame soy chicken!
Good ambience, music and the likes.Spring rolls gets you only two cut into four. Pretty bland.Dumplings were better, but still kinda bland.Spicy pad thai noodles were extremely sweet, and the the noodles were tough, not just al-dente tough. The bacon burger was alright, but could do with some more flavour. The foods alright in general, but you expect better taste when you pay 6 dollars for two spring rolls.
Food and service was wonderful. We had not been to the Cafe Sunflower, in Buckhead, since the expansion / remodeling. If comfortable and inviting was their goal? They achieve that and then some. Parking was tight but doable.I did not miss meat! I was certainly full but not stuffed. We called ahead to find out although we could not make a last minute reservation our wait would be around 10 minutes. I didnt have time to sit down hardly before very were welcomed to our table. This was on a Saturday night around 7 pm. We took a couple hours to eat and didnt feel rush, in the least.
Im so happy this place exists. We got there, we didnt have to wait too long and as soon as we sat down, our server was ready to greet us. She explained the menu to us and what Cafe Sunflower is about. I was excited to see that they had gluten free options. The whole experience was perfect. We got the gf artichoke dip, then the impossible burger and gf quesadilla. It was all amazing! It all sounds too healthy but the flavor was there! Delicious. Our server, Jordan, was wonderful. I asked her several questions about gluten free options for the burger and she immediately understood I was gluten free and took care of me. So many other servers in Atlanta dont do that?! She was also very knowledgeable and super sweet. I cant wait to come back with some friends to try other things on the menu!!! Hopefully we get Jordan again!
Amazing food. Ive been twice now both times I loved it. The first time we had dumplings, spring rolls, lasagna, and ravioli. My non-vegan boyfriend loved it & it was his idea to go back! The 2nd time we had the specials - fried green tomatoes, tomato bisque, and fettuccine (the fettuccine gets 10 stars out of 5). Service and atmosphere were pretty good. If it were a little cheaper Id probably eat here every week.
Have eaten at this restaurant several times and Ive never been disappointed with my meal or overall experience at Cafe Sunflower Buckhead. The atmosphere is relaxing, the space is pleasant with attractive decor. Good service. My favorite entre is sesame chicken and the carrot cake is divine.
The hostess provided friendly service. When she was unable to assist with my dietary needs, she asked her manager to come over. The manager was very helpful too and had a pleasant personality. She sat down with me,and we discussed options that could meet my needs. They went above and beyond to help accommodate my special diet. I would highly recommend this restaurant based on service alone. I havent even tried the food yet. Im writing this review as Im waiting on my to-go-order.

2022-06-30Tried out a new spot for lunch; located in a plaza off Peachtree Road in Decatur. We ordered an hour before closing on a Thursday so there wasn’t much of a crowd. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and nicely plated. My Sesame Soy Chicken is usually served with organic brown rice, but I opted for a side salad. My son finished his Gyro Wrap before I could snap a pic. He also enjoyed the Pineapple Refresh drink (had a refill). The Spring Rolls are good, but wish more came in a serving. I will definitely come back for dinner or brunch to try more of the menu.

2022-03-05Decided to go here on Friday eve for dinner. Luckily there was just 15 minutes wait. Not too bad. We ordered Strawberry lemonade to start with stuffed mushrooms and steamed dumplings. The stuffed mushrooms were good and delicious but poor qty, only 3 small pieces on the plate. I wish they could do 5. Presentation not so good but taste was great.Steamed dumplings seemed dry and were OK.For entrees we ordered white fettuccini Alfredo (gluten free) this was delicious and good qty for 2. We ordered Raspberry chocolate mousse cake to go (to have it later next day) the server said that it was her favorite dessert. I am hoping it to be the Yummiest vegan cake I ever had. But definitely Vegans need to try this place!

2021-11-16Cafe Sunflower is proof that you do not have to compromise taste in order to eat healthy. The food was excellent, and very fresh. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was very, very good. The restaurant was very clean and customer service was top notch. It was one of the best vegan restaurants I have dined in.

2021-08-24One of my favorite vegan spots to eat in Atlanta ever! Been going here for over 3 years when I was vegan and now that I’m not and it’s just as good whether you are a veggie lover and picky eater. The mock meat is so much higher quality than most places. The prices are good for the amount you get since everything is filling and delicious! I would totally recommend saving your stomach for dessert as well since the cakes are divine. Service was polite, efficient, and attentive. I would definitely come back for Sunday Brunch as well since it gets packed, but the quality is consistent. I will be coming back for as long as they’re open!

2021-08-24This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city. They have been around a long time and I have enjoyed meals there over the years. I got the crispy shrimp tacos they are perfectly made the flavors were carefully selected. The shrimp tasted like shrimp. My friend had the crispy chicken and he loved it. He had never been to a vegan type restaurant before. It is tastefully decorated and theres always a diverse clientele there. The staff are very friendly and very helpful.

2022-06-09I didn’t know vegan food could be this good. I tried the pad Thai and I was amazing. We also ordered the orange chicken and it tasted better than regular orange chicken. 10/10 recommend

2022-06-19We went Saturday at 5:30. We made reservations for 4 the week prior. We were immediately escorted to our table. I always ask for recommendations from the waiter. He suggested the sesame chicken and the buffalo lollipop. We got just that. IT WAS AMAZING. Definitely will be back. The sesame chicken was so good, my husband and I were fighting over it. He did order the Alfredo but it had more vegetables than he is use to.

2022-02-13This was my second time dining at Cafe Sunflower. They were a little off their game tonight, BUT they made it right. The fettuccini alfredo serving size seemed small. Perhaps the size of the bowl gave that illusion...and it tasted a bit sweet for my taste. I WOULD still recommend this restaurant to my fellow vegan friends! And, I look forward to trying other dishes on subsequent visits.

2022-06-13I have been here twice and it just might be my go to for brunch in ATL. I had the eggless Benedict and my partner had the chicken biscuit with orange jalapeno marmalade. I side-eyed that marmalade and we asked for it to be put on the side butttt....somebody was in the kitchen making magic with that. The flavors go together so well. The biscuits are delicious and a little different. They give me Caribbean vibes and remind me of fried dumplings just a pinch. Theyre delicious and I could eat a plate of biscuits by themselves. The eggless Benedict is a staff choice and that sauce is amazing. The portion is pretty big too. You cant go wrong with their brunch menu. A couple of things to take into consideration. It opens at 11:30 and you need to be waiting outside at 11:25 It fills up quickly. The food is made quickly and staff is friendly. This isnt a fancy place. Its family vibes and great food. You could meet a group of girlfriends here or your parents or your partner and the kids or brunch with Bae and youd fit right in. This place is definitely family friendly .
