Stay away. Went in for an appraisal with an appointment. First issue: Had to fill out form in person even though I already filled out everything online. Second: Waited over one hour for the appraisal to be completed and nobody told me when it was done. I had to go ask what is taking so long and they said appraisals are done at another location. Really? I then learned it was done and they were just sitting on it. Receptionist was very apologetic but the used car appraiser could care less. Third: Offer was crazy low. $2k below wholesale value. The low ball added insult to injury after the long wait. I just sold the car for $2k over their offer to their competition so it’s their loss on a great used vehicle.
I went to CarMax because I have always heard that they give a good price on selling your car. Well I guess I was wrong. I would not recommend anyone taking their car there to sell it to CarMax.I have a 2017 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 in excellent condition garage kept with 32,641 miles and 1.5 years left on the extended warranty and Ceramic Pro 5 Year Warranty of the paint.CarMax offered me $31,000 for my vehicle. The national average trade-in range for this year make and model is between $35,651 and $39,621 and they offered me $31,000 which is an insult to me.I would recommend not taking your vehicle there to sell until they hire a professional appraiser that know how to make a fair and reasonable appraisal.As of yesterday the used car values are currently up 16% on average in the United States. I guess CarMax wants to take advantage of the economic crises we are all facing in America today. CarMax should be ashamed of there business practices. I hope this information helps any American not to do business with CarMax. Respectfully.
Not what I expected. I took my time to get all my paperwork process done prior to coming in to avoid the long wait at the dealership. I was told by my sale rep who assisted me on the phone I would just go in and sign. That was not true. I had to do the whole process once I arrived to the dealership. My credit was ran multiple times even after I was approved. It was absolutely not what I expected. This was not a pleasant experience for such a large company and for all the work that was done prior to arriving.
Brought in my daughters car for an appraisal and was completely blown away. Not only did the process take under 2 hours from start to finish (great value of customers time), I walked out with the car being paid off and check in hand for the positive equity. Thank you for your great customer service
Truly a wonderful experience! My sales representative by the name of Thomas Dust was so enthusiastic so engaging and attentive to my needs when I came in searching for a vehicle. Was very thorough and detailed the process and he remained present. Not being distracted by what was going on but giving myself and my wife undivided attention when it comes to service. These folks here exceed expectations and do a damn good job of making sure you leave with the car of your dreams!
I traded my car and received an online offer of $17400. Upon physical inspection, I was given an offer of $16900 which I applied to the trade-in as a down payment. I asked him as to why $500 was reduced and if they found something wrong with the car! The agent just shrugged his shoulders and said thats what we can offer. I enquired again about the dip in trade-in value and I havent received any concrete response. I would have given a 5 star review if I would have at least got a proper response to why the value was decreased. Its a $500 dip!!!! I need to know!
I worked with Sam Nassri on finding my dream car after failed attempts at different locations. I am so happy that I found this carmax location. Sam helped me so much in this process I truly can’t thank him enough. I later signed with Shannan Case to finally receive my car and she was so helpful on breaking down the contract and making sure I understood everything. This is the best carmax location.
This is my third car purchase with CarMax, and I must say, I would go to them every time I want to buy a vehicle. My last car purchase (06/2022), I had the privilege of working with sales consultant, Mr. Tony Lassiter. His customer service is amazing! He gives you honest feed back and treat you with a high level of care and concern. He had several people waiting in the lobby that day to wait for him and after taking a great bit time on my sale, I tried to hurry him up so that he could get to the other people. He told me that his current concern was making sure that he gets me the right car to fit my needs. That really made me good to know that I am not just another customer to him. He even followed up with me via text message a couple of days after my purchase to check on how things were going. I also received a nice hefty check from Carmax for being a loyal customer and that was the sweet icing on the cake!!! :) I love that Carmax has such a wide variety of quality cars!Certainly will choose Carmax Roswell again and specifically, Mr. Lassiter, for my car purchases. A Loyal customer forever!
Im giving this 4 stars which is generous considering my most recent experience. The only reason Im being generous is that this is my second vehicle purchase with Carmax and the first was impeccable. Carmax has extremely good customer service and they stand true to their no hassle policy. However, you will be left feeling less than a valuable customer if any out of the ordinary issues arise. The tile of a vehicle I transferred was misplaced and I didnt receive any notice of this until I called in two weeks after the vehicle arrived. Then I was forced to call corporate to make any progress after I was given the run around for two additional weeks. I was also informed that the vehicle I had already financed was put back on the for sale list and the sales consultant was told not to contact me. I was very understanding through the whole process since it was the holidays but definitely didnt feel valued as a customer. The truck was dirty when I received it and not cleaned well at all. I just dropped it off for service because the transmission is shifting hard and Ive had to jump start it the past three morning. Not my most pleasant experience with CarmaxUpdate: they gave me my truck back and basically said there was nothing wrong with it. Fast forward a few days later and the truck would not start even with a jump. Had to get it towed to Carmax and because it wouldnt take a jump, they had to look into it and found that it was the starter. Not super disappointed with this part because I deliver parts and I know how vehicles can be but I do feel like they couldve been more thorough when I took it in the first time.
I was looking to update my vehicle. I had a 2015 Subaru Forester Touring in black with a black interior. It was from Upstate New York, transferred to Roswell CarMax. I had thought of updating my vehicle. CarMax in the St. Louis area had the same car, 2020 version. Both the 2015 and the 2020 had low mileage. Sam Nassri was my individual to move the car. Sam looked very much like the CarMax consultant that I dealt with previously. Sam made the request with 30 people being interested in the car! I love the car. A five year difference made me one happy customer. Sam facilitated this with great aplomb. Perhaps I will be back to Roswell CarMax in 5 more years for the newer Subaru Forester! I hope Sam will still be in house in Roswell!
The car buying experience was great, However, there seems to be a problem with the title now. I bought the car from out of state and was told that my paperwork to get my title in my home state would be delivered in ten days. Over two weeks later and no paperwork. When I called, I was told that they are working on the “title problem”.
Truly one of the most trying experiences I’ve ever dealt with in my ENTIRE life. BEWARE of needing any service done to your vehicle, as the service manager, Christy, is easily one of the most rude and disrespectful people you could ever come across. I can see by the reviews, I’m not the first person to experience her wrath. Says a lot about how serious Carmax takes their feedback. No point in getting the MaxCare add on if they are going to try to stop you from using it.
Went in to inquire about selling my 2019 Audi after seeing the same car listed for $65k down the street in Norcross. 30 minutes later they came back with my offer… $49k! Are you kidding me?? Even the employee was surprised. Complete waste of time. They low ball you then sell your car for top dollar.
I would give 0 stars if I could. This is not the place you go to for repairs, only to purchase. They are probably out of workers like everyone else, but management, Christy, should have explained versus rudely declining me service. I never been treated with such disrespect. I have purchased over 5 cars from Carmax, but this was my first and last time at this location. Get new management and you guys might get better outcomes.
I would actually rate this two and a half stars for a mixed experience.I went to the Carmax store in Roswell Georgia on May 8th 2022 to look at two vehicles. I purchased a 2019 Nissan Rouge, trading in my current car.The Good: personable sales associate, 20 min test drives. Explained the loan process well.The Bad: Discovering that neither set of keys for the vehicle worked fully ( a week and two trips to service for a replacement). Finding out the front bumper had been replaced only after requesting the service records (which were incomplete and contained no information on maintenance history). Rear driver taillight missing a small piece ( unseen until you look at the proper angle).Feeling pressured to purchase a max care warranty.The Unknown: 16 days and still waiting on them to submit payoff funds on my trade in to my bank …..I think the car is still an ok value, but I urge Carmax customers to ask questions and inspect any potential purchase more carefully than you would expect to have to.
I did not enjoy my experience with Carmax I was very disappointed with the car experience. Days after first car it started making sounds and exchanged it and soon as I hit the highway in second new car the check engine light came on after spending an hour driving there and hours sitting getting the second new vehicle was so frustrating and draining .Now I have to make an appointment at Carmax to get it checked out which means more time wasted I shouldn’t be wasting, the car should have been ready for the customer I shouldn’t have these car issues on new used car. I hope this second car works out but I was disappointed in Carmax unfortunately
This specific store at Roswell was the worst customer service experience ever. The managers and team members are not on the same page at all. I had to come up with extra money on the day of the purchase because they told me last minute they needed to an hourly rate. They hardly cleaned the car when I bought it and everybody had an attitude

This is the second car we have gotten from CarMax, and we have really enjoyed each experience, I don’t think I can shop anywhere else for a car again, they make it so easy! Jay was our rep and he went over and above to help. He helped me have a great Mother’s Day and I’m thankful for his help. I do wish service was available for minor things on Saturdays to check cars before they leave, we had an issue with the tire pressure alert coming on, and I can’t get it fixed for another 2 weeks because service is backed up.But overall still a great car for a great fair price and great customer service
My sales Rep was Matt and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed him helping. It was slow service and I selection was limited. Not flexible on pricing and slight sales tone to get you drive off with the car and than call with in 6 day grace period and complain about cosmetics and we will fix it. I wanted fixed before I buy or take $ off price tag. But I guess that is what to be expected from car sales place.Average CarMax
Bought an Altima there this week and was treated better than Ive ever been treated at a dealership! Komkey (sp) was our sales person and she was thorough, kind, and helpful. The dealership was sanitized as was each car we test drove. I traded in my old car and they gave me a fair price. Im so happy with my new car and the experience I had.

We did an online appraisal on selling our vehicle, then we showed up with the offer code. CarMax held our vehicle title, checked the vehicle and confirmed the offer price. We waited about 30 minutes each in between them checking the vehicle and finishing the paperwork. Very easy, smooth and painless process, and the sales person was professional, keeping us informed through phone calls while we were out and about while waiting. Excellent experience!
The process of selling my car was very seamless through CarMax! John Brown at the Roswell, GA location was the agent that took care of me. He was very kind and a great conversationalist while we waited for my car to be appraised. After the appraisal, the paperwork signing and getting the check was very easy. I highly recommend anyone looking to sell your car to use CarMax!
They gave me an excellent price for my car. The staff are professional and courteous. The whole process was very easy - starting with creating the purchase offer online and ending with them cutting me a check. I sold my car in about an hour. I strongly recommend selling your car to CarMax.
I felt the car max really had our best interest in mind. We had a car shipped in from another location and paid the shipping fee. When the car arrived it had some odor issues. Carmax stepped in and refunded our shipping fee immediately. They ended up finding us an even better car. Our representative Mark was professional and diligent in his search for us.
Went to purchase a vehicle. I was told that the car would be ready for me. I didnt get there until late. Mind you....they knew I was bringing a $30K check on a $38K vehicle. Not only was the car unwashed and not detailed...with leaves all over it and in the truck bed. The truck bed liner obviously was not original and does not fit correctly. The inside was not cleaned and still had SEVERAL items in it from a previous owner. Fluids were low. I live and hour and a half away from the dealership. The ONLY reason why I didnt complain. It would have taken more out of me to take it back up there to solve all of this......You would think I wouldve at least heard from them by this point just to check on me. But hey....

My service rep Mr. John Brown was awesome, he had the patience of a saint!
They made my car buying experience one that I will tell everyone. The financing was easy and painless, I practically did everything over the internet and phone. I was told over the phone and email that no documents were needed and all I had to do was show up, test drive my car, and sign the documents. ALL THIS INFORMATION WAS ABSOLUTELY TRUE ONCE I ARRIVED! I will definitely go back to purchase another car.
After responding honestly to all the questions for an online offer on our 2006 Toyota Matrix, we got what we felt was a fair, if not generous offer. Actually, cynics that we are, we wondered if it was “bait & switch”. But when we arrived at Carmax at our appointed time, we were greeted by a friendly manager; the offer was honored after a brief inspection of our car; and we drove home with a check in our hand. The entire process was efficient, cordial, and stress-free. It probably didn’t take more than an hour. By the way, I had valued our car with Carmax competitors, and Carmax came through with the best offer, so we jumped on it.
I have now purchased 2 cars from CarMax in the past 3 years. Both were great experiences. The online shopping makes comparing easy. Finalizing the sale was also fast and easy. Everything was a much better experience than a typical car dealer- better service, friendlier staff, and simple/fast process. For both cars, i paid to have them transferred from a different Carmax location and that was quick and efficient with good communication by Carmax. So, Id highly recommend
My son looked online found me a car in Atlanta,Ga. Where he now lives. I am from Monroe , La and was very satisfied with his choice once I went to see the vehicle in Atlanta. I immediately told my niece and she looked online and found a vehicle at Car Max in Shreveport, La. for her vehicle and shes was very, very satisfied with the car. The manager in Shreveport showed prejudice. Excluding the manager in Shreveport, Car Max is the place to go for a good car with low miles. They stand behind their cars for the time they state its warranty is for when purchased.VJMonroe, La
I had previously received a quote on my Honda Odyssey and took it into the Carmax at Town Center on Friday 11/19/21. I assumed it might take an hour. After three and a half hours the process was complete. We finally got to the desk to start the check-out process and all the names on our paperwork were incorrect. Last, but not least, on our way home we got a call from Joshua that he gave us the wrong check for our car (I assumed it was right, but I did not review it before I left, shame on me.) So I had to return Saturday to get my correct check and take back the wrong check. They were severely understaffed, so we waited patiently.
My adult son found a truck here that he liked. I took him to see it and check out the place. I was a little skeptical at first, once they started to work with him and he drove out with the truck I changed my mind. They did a good job and I would actually buy a car there in the future. Well done Carmax.
My first time in a CarMax and I was impressed! It was so light and bright, lots of windows and clean. Everyone I interacted with was very nice and professional. I booked an appointment online. I brought in my car to have an appraisal. I was blown away at how much I was offered. I got the check the same day. It took about an hour. I would recommend CarMax to anyone!!
We had a car from their inventory shipped to their Roswell Store. Getting the car there was ok, there was a little confusion over which store it was actually at but it was where we requested in the end and on the day they said it would be! We were in and out in two hours! Thats test driving the car, having them give us a quote to purchase our vehicle, and completing the financing! The gentleman who worked with us was named Dawson. He was very very good at his job, knew the system, very efficient, and pleasant. We feel they were very fair with the trade in value, it was actually the same amount that we were quoted with their online appraisal system. If your in the market for a new vehicle we highly recommend this system! I will never sell another car to anyone else.
I started off with a long wait but once the ball got rolling and I met my sales associate, it was great. Friendly and respectable. John Brown assisted me with details of the car, getting me set up for my test drive, helping me with my purchase and getting my paperwork taken care of. Phil Collins was very efficient and helpful in getting the paperwork handled as they prepped my car to go home with me. Everyone was very nice and went out of their way to answer any questions I had about the vehicle. Several employees stopped to congratulate me and say “nice car!” Any questions I had during the process were answered thoroughly, and Mr Brown took the time to take me out and look at anything I didn’t know about and show me where things were and how they operated. If he didn’t know, he got the service manager to come take a look. It was a great experience and I would recommend highly!
My wife and I had such an amazing experience at CarMax, thanks to Thomas! After a couple of test drives, he remained very attentive and helpful throughout and went the extra mile to help us find and ship the SUV we were looking for! Once it arrived and we came back to test drive it, he made sure everything was perfect and we could not be more pleased with our purchase! We were also very pleased with selling our old SUV to CarMax! From the staff, to the vehicle we bought, to the sale of our old one, thank you for a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations!
The online shopping experience was fun and easy! I found the car I wanted, then placed the order to have it shipped to my local CarMax location. Shipping was faster than expected! However, once I got the call that my vehicle was ready to go and to come in to finish my Curbside appointment, everything went downhill. When I arrived, no one was there to greet me and I had to wait over thirty minutes past my appointment time. Why?! Also, I noticed SO MANY bad paint scratches and blemishes that were not disclosed to me when I asked for a walk-around from the originating location, which made me really upset considering I was told there were no scratches to be seen and I paid $600 for the transfer shipping fee. I felt duped. But I will say the sweet girl who helped me sign my paperwork was very helpful and made the experience a little better. I just dont understand why I had to wait almost an hour for a curbside appointment when most of my paperwork and pre-approval was done ahead of time. Plus being lied to about the condition of the vehicle is not ethical. Shame on you CarMax.
My fiancee and I had an AMAZING experience here!! Went in hoping to get a minimum amount on my tradein and hopefully drive out with a newer vehicle...got waaaay more than we expected for our suv and thanks to David and Chapple we were able to drive out with our new Jetta. The process took a very long time because of insurance and an out of state license. But many thanks to David and Chapple for helping us through everything!! Best car buying experience!!!
I sold my GMC truck to Carmax in Roswell after purchasing a new vehicle elsewhere. Having bought and sold dozens of cars in my lifetime I found the process refreshingly easy, convenient and professional from A-Z. First, the appraiser honored the competitive online quote. Second, Felicity and Matt in the business office were most courteous, forthcoming and efficient to move the transaction along. Long story short, we were in and out in 90 minutes and enjoyed every moment of it :)
Carmax was great at getting me started with the car buying process. Their employees were patient and informative. However, when I paid to have one of the cars I was interested in shipped from North Carolina, there was a mixup with whether the car was still available or if it had already been sold. My suggestion would be for Carmax to be more transparent every step of the car buying process as I had to continually call the 1-800 number to get updates and answers to my questions and concerns.
Pretty good experience. This is our third car from Carmax. Only down side is that I didnt get a keyless remote and my airbag warning is gong off on the drivers side. Ill take it to get looked at soon. I dont blame these issues on Carmax, but just the used cars history.
Had an extremely pleasant and seamless experience in selling my truck to Carmax!! After making an appointment online, the total review process from arrival to appraisal was less than 30 minutes, including a fairly thorough inspection. The offer was very fair and higher than other similar options that I went ahead with the sale a few days later. This process was just as easy and quick, waling out with a check in another 30 minutes or so. Way exceeded my expectations!!
I sold my car back to Carmax. The service was fast, and Bob always made sure that I was aware of where they were in the process of looking over my car, signing papers, and then providing me a check. I received the full offer that I was sent when I did an online assessment. Carmax is a company that always does exactly what they say they are going to do. I would buy/sell a car from them again. If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. They told me that my car payments would be x amount of money from a salesman and then we had to go back later on in the week because the car was being delivered and the salesmen I had that time told me my car payments we’re going to be higher than what I’m paying now for my car that is 6 years newer than the one I was looking at! I left upset because I was told incorrect information I was told to come back and they were going to try a different car and the payments would match what the other salesman told me, I waited another 20 minutes and then they came back and it was the same amount of my current payments for a different car that was 3 years older than mine. That also had a recall. Honestly the 2 times I’ve dealt with any carmax dealer they have always been horrible. Never will I ever again even go to this dealership. I’d rather rip my hair out from the roots than sea with the stupidity this dealership has. 🤧
What a painless process! Researched the book value on Edmunds. Went to the Carmax site & entered all the info asked for. They came back with a very reasonable buy back price. Drove in for the inspection/appraisal & they made a great offer. In & out in less than an hour. Painless & professional!
Online appraisal process for vehicle was easy to use. A fair price was offered. It was easy to book appraisal appointment at dealership as part of the appraisal process. CarMax honored our appointment time, quickly appraised the vehicle and paid the original appraisal price. Dealership was clean, professional, and process went smoothly.
They sold Sold me a lemon aka 2018 cadillac xt5 in April. Less than 400 miles in my car broke down with serious issues. My vehicle ended up being at Hennessey Cadillac for over a month before repair. I reached out to the service manager at the location and received no empathy just aggression and her passing the fault on to Cadillac. No compensation or concern for the issues. My lawyers are on the situation. My recommendation, take the 30 day test drive and run it.
First I want to say thank you to Steve from the Vegas team! His professionalism* was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, we were immediately attended to by Michael. He gave us the keys for us to test drive and then gave us the biggest hurdles to jump over to finally purchase this car. His manager was not understanding of our situation and made this process longer than it was supposed to. They couldn’t find my original loan amount and processed a new amount which in turn hurt my credit.At the end of the day, the level of service rendered at this facility was below what I felt represents CarMax. I was made to feel I wasn’t good enough for the purchase. I dare I say I felt profiled! I will never recommend this store to any of my business associates.
Called to set an appointment to test drive a Chevy Bolt (EV). What a corporate maze to go through. First time, I got disconnected. Second time, no answer. I have had this issue before with Car Max. Never again.I called a local Chevy dealer in DeKalb county - 1 call - got a sales person immediately and have an appointment set to test drive in less than 1 hour.The car is charged and ready to go. And by the way, with the tax credit, it is cheaper to buy new then one that is 3 years old. Their prices are high.
I first purchased an Audi A5, which I loved, until I realized, a few days in, that it had belonged to a (likely heavy) smoker. Knowing that wouldnt work for me, I returned it. Both the purchase and the return were very easy. In short order, I had an Audi A3 transferred from Tennessee and its great! That transaction was easy, too. Hands down the best car-buying experience Ive ever had. Because of my weird transactions and a paperwork snafu, I had to follow up with the business office. They were also super helpful; the representative I spoke with had to check in on my situation and she called back in just a couple hours, as promised. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and gave the impression of just wanting to make sure I was happy with my purchase.
Our experience was excellent at CarMax. We went there initially just to look and we ended up buying a great car. The amount of information and history on each car is wonderful. We were able to make an informed decision. The CarMax warranty is great and made the uncertainty about buying a perused car less risky. If you’re in the market for a peruses vehicle, CarMax is the place to be!
Great car buying experience...walked the lot to view large selection and variety of cars. Loved being able to walk through at my own pace and identified the car I liked. Cars are unlocked so you can sit in them and check out the interiors. Easy to schedule a test drive on line and returned the next day to drive my favorite car. Met Duell and he did a great job sharing details about the vehicle. I was able to secure financing with my credit union and returned 3 days later to finalize purchase. Love my new car and would recommend CarMax to anyone that wants to buy a new car with no drama or pressure.
Disappointing overall. The sales associate was very nice. He told me the interior was leather which I learned was leatherette. I was sold car with torn passenger. The seat was repaired which was patched horribly. The solution was to have management inspect which offered to take the car back but no discount. I now have to pay out of pocket for 30 plus thousand dollar car to have the seat properly repaired.
My experience with CarMax was nothing short of amazing. I had to shop for a new car after my car was totaled in a car accident and I wasn’t emotionally ready to actually car shop as I loved the car was that was totaled. From beginning to end I was able to do all of my financing online and over the phone so when I went into the location I was able to test drive, sign my paper work all within an hour and a half. Best car buying experience I have ever had.
After my most recent car shopping experience, I wonder why anyone would buy a car anywhere other than Carmax. They are true to their motto of no haggle pricing and you don’t have to deal with all the “nonsense” and “hidden fees” of a typical car negotiation at most dealers. The sales process was “very efficient” and I was very impressed that the entire process from start to finish took just over two hours (including the test drive of two potential vehicles)
CarMax responded with the customer relation number, the same number I used to stay on hold twice for over 30 minutes and received no help! I had to go back, for the third time to find out I was lied to, they could provide the information I needed at the store level! No respect for your time!I sold my car to CarMax on May 11th. My next payment was due on May 28th, they said no problem, they would pay it off in plenty of time. Here we are, June 1 and my payment is now late and they can not provide proof they paid off my car. Run!! Jim Ellis will pay $500 more than CarMax and will not make it impossible to get information.
Found a decent deal on a car in Grand Rapids Michigan. Paid $249 to have it tansfered to Roswell GA. Requested a home delivery. Waited a week for the car to arrive. No email or phone call arrival alert from Carmax. I called Carmax and they informed that they sold the car to another customer AFTER it arrived in Roswell. I wouldnt doubt it if an employee seen it and wanted it. There was hardly 24 hours in the time it arrived and when it was sold. Horrible logistics service. Never trust them to transfer a car!!!
The customer service, cleanliness of the car and price were top tier and fair. Thank you guys for the wonderful experience. I went in this past weekend to trade in an old vehicle for a newer model and they couldn’t do enough to help me find the right car and make sure I was well taken care of. Sam did an excellent job and thoroughly explained everything we needed to know. He was very personable and made the experience very enjoyable.
I wish I could say it was/has been great but not so much! I drove an hour to pick up the selected vehicle with agreeing to trade in my car I get all the way there only to be told the finance company agreed to finance if I traded my other car (which CarMax didn’t even appraise). I needed a new car so I decided to continue with financing without trading in a vehicle. Well I have only had the vehicle 3 weeks and it is already had to go into the shop, the entire turboboost system went out. I called CarMax repair service and they informed me of no loaner vehicle available and to go straight to Chevrolet to have repair done so it can fall under my Chevrolet warranty, that they wouldn’t be doing the repair. Now mind you I signed up for the CarMax care service that I’m not using for this repair and I haven’t even had my first car payment yet or received my tag. I guess better luck next time since now I’m locked into paying for this vehicle that I can’t drive currently and an extended warranty that is useless.
I sold my 2006 Saturn Ion to CarMax and had a great experience. Their representative Thomas gave us quick service and made the process smooth and easy. The offer was more than I was expecting , so I immediately said yes! I look forward to working with them when we get ready to replace the Saturn.
Our sales associate (KD) was one of the very best I have come across. KD was polite, knowledgeable, patient and answered all my crazy questions without any pressure. I don’t understand why he had to pass us off to the “office” to finish it up because honestly that’s when the experience became typical.
Terrible experience. I bought. Kia Forte with only 31k miles on it and shortly after I left I realized the car was much louder then it should have been and turned out the wheel bearings were needing to be replaced. So I returned the car and they said I would have my refund in less then a week and now it has been well over a week and no refund. They won’t even give me a update on when the refund will be complete. They just keep giving me the run around
The service department is super bad after making the purchase they give you 4000 miles of guarantee for any inconvenience I have come to solve several problems and I have had to come up to 4 times because they are not able to do a good job the service is a disaster waste of time is the same as losing money it gives the impression that they do not want to solve the problem so as not to put money out of their pocket they do not respect peoples time

This was the best car buying experience I’ve ever had. The employees were very curtious and respectful. They understood what I wanted and gave me just that. Other companies I have delt with before lied to me, called me constantly trying to rush me into a decision I was not ready to make. Carmax respected my privacy and did not rush me into any decision. I picked out my vehicle which was in Maryland and they had it shipped here within 7 days. The buying process was very quick and easy. It only took two hours to test drive and purchase my vehicle. I would highly recommend Carmax.
My experience with CarMax in Roswell was fantastic. They had the car I wanted shipped from Tennessee quickly and kept me informed the entire way. Once it arrived I was able to go in, they were following all COVID19 precautions and guidelines. The buying experience was smooth and quick, they were extremely helpful the entire time. I bought a car here a few weeks ago and it was a great experience. They shipped it in from South Carolina. No pressure to buy it at all. This is the third or fourth car weve purchased from CarMax, but this was our first time at this location. Everything went very well, which was expected as thats what were used to and why we keep coming back to CarMax. We worked with Duell and he was great! The entire process, from the time we got there until we left with our new car, was two hours. That includes two test drives of two different vehicles! I think thats pretty quick considering we werent sure which car wed purchase when we got there. We love CarMax!
Communication is not their, I had to call at lunch time to get a update on repairs, CarMax said it would be done by closing at 5pm. Drive over and now it’s tomorrow. Would have been nice if they called to say they had problems with it and will be tomorrow. 40 min drive from house. Just bought it and had major issues. Not happy after a long day of work.
It was the first time we had ever used CarMax. A good experience overall except. Its been two weeks since I purchased the car. It needs the Navigator screen (or whatever you call it) replaced. They tried to clean it and it is now cloudy and looks like it is rusted at the bottom. Ive not heard back from the Roswell carmax. They were going to order another one. Also, since they have so many different brands of cars, they dont know about specific technology of each car. Im figuring it out slowly, but it is hard. But, so far, the car seems good. Its a 2017 Mazda CX-5.
Fair offer for my 2015 Kia Soul and excellent customer service. Ive done business with CarMax several times, but this was the first time at the Roswell, GA location. Took my car to CarMax to get it appraised. The sales consultant that helped me was Chris Jackson, he was great and I highly recommend that you ask for him if you go to this CarMax store. The whole process is fairly simple and very organized; it does take a good couple of hours from beginning to end, but totally worth it for a hassle-free experience vs. selling your car on your own and have to deal with all that. There is absolutely no pressure at all to buy a car from them, which I knew already. Even little details like offering a nice bag to put all your stuff when you empty your car add up to a great experience. Regarding the appraisal value. About a year or so ago, I took another car for an appraisal and the offer was way below what I was expecting and blue book value, but this time the offer I received was fair and reasonable.
Terrible experience from Carmax! I placed a 7 day hold on a car. They removed the hold after 4 days without any notification or communication with me and sold it to someone else. I found this out two days later (day 6 of the hold) when I called to make arrangements for payment and to pick-up the car. I dont know if this is a problem just with Rowell, GA or all Carmax locations. This was my first time trying to buy a car from Carmax and unfortunately it will be my last. Buyer-beware of the 7 day hold because they can remove it at anytime without contacting you!
Had a great touchless car-buying experience. Was about five hours from the time of our first contact with CarMax until they delivered the car to our driveway. We felt comfortable signing documents in the mobile office van, which had been thoroughly wiped down prior to our entry.
I am sure other people had wonderful experiences with carmax me personally, I have bought 2 cars from there. This last experience sucked. After spending a couple of hours on the phone trying to find a vehicle running my credit taking pictures of my trade in emailing and texting having a vehicle transferred to 2 different places. Long story short...carmax roswell didnt have any information that was submitted from another carmax and said i had to do it all over again. No thanks. You supposedly have 7 days before your appraisal expires. Six days in, because I had to wait for transfers they said sorry dont know why are comps did that but you have to do it over. Maybe just dont do it over the phone.
We enjoyed purchasing our car at CarMax. The no pressure and no haggle makes it extremely easy. The only negatives I can think of is : I dont feel the sales staff is very familiar with the vehicles so you need to do your research and the buying process takes WAY to long! Ever bought a house? Sitting at the closing table signing all those papers is what it felt like. Over an hour doing all this.
I bought a 2009 Smart car a while back. From start to finish up until this point its been the worst experience Ive ever had concerning buying a car. This car has been nothing but problems and here we are trying to get our first tag and of course it doesnt pass emissions. The original person I spoke to and arrange the sale with was incredible and I very much liked him. When it came time to pick up the car oh, that person was not there and they gave me a different salesperson who was absolutely horrendous. I was told that they were new tires on the car but a week after having the car, the check tire light came on and so I had someone check on the tires. To which I was informed that all of the tires needed to be replaced. Then Ive had the check engine light and the gas cap light Ill come on and off and no one can seem to tell me why. One would think that you should be able to buy a car that should at least be able to pass its first emissions test. I would not ever use this location ever again. I understand that certain things can go wrong but Ive been buying cars for a long time and this is just been the worst experience. Please be aware and stay away.
These guys in Roswell do it right! My wife and I have purchased 3 cars from CarMax and each time we had great service with our last rep jumping through hoops to help us. One example is that he has now come twice to work with us on his day off!! Jay is a true gentleman and a very knowledgeable car salesman. We have been extremely pleased with sales as well as the business office and service group. The staff there is polite, savvy and very helpful. We highly recommend CarMax to anyone serious about buying a car at a place where there is great selection of inventory.
Friendly people and good selection of cars. The Maxcare extended warranty is good but they will charge you a diagnostic fee. Also you must get approved to get a loaner car. This is disappointing, when I take my Infiniti to get an oil change they give me a loaner. Carmax can do better, a pay thousands for the car and extra for the warranty and when it needs servicing they cant provide a loaner. My CarMax experience would be perfect if I could avoid the service department.
I’ve owned the car for 5 days and the motor mounts are bad, it needs an alignment, all of the fluids were empty and all of the filters were dirty, got pulled over after 3 days of ownership for a brake light out, and all of the speakers in the car were blown, and the battery is 3 years old and died on the third day. Very disappointed, the simplest things were missed when they checked the car out. I am never buying a car here again.
We had a great experience today at CarMax. Elliot Rosenberg was awesome! Really knowledgeable, helped get yes looking at the right cars, and offered to have some brought in if needed. This was not the standard car should experience. Highly recommend Elliot and CarMax!
Even in the age of covid - buying a car at Carmax was a top notch experience. The appraisal was quick and fair, there was no pressure from the sales team to buy, there was no haggling on the price, AND the other sites I compared with (like KBB) said that my deal was excellent. Other dealers were offering the same car for at least $5K more!
I had constant issues during the entire process of purchasing this vehicle.Every question that I asked, the generic answer was Let me ask the Business Office. Plus, whenever I test drove the truck, I noticed a Oil Warning light that popped up. Whenever I returned from my test drive, I notified the associate and he said that he would get it looked at. When I proceeded to purchase the truck, I reminded them about the oil warning light and they ensured me that it had been addressed. I discovered that was not the case at all.I had a few issues with this location; I am trying to refrain from turning this review into a novel.Since I had grown weary of the various issues with this particular location, I took it to the Carmax in Kennesaw. They looked at it, determined the issue, and the problem got resolved.Carmax - My recommendation -- For people that choose to conduct business with Carmax, stay away from the Roswell Store. The Kennesaw Store ended up providing quality service, which should have been what I received from the Roswell store
Had bought a previous car at another location and that was a good experience. I dont like the hassles and games of a traditional dealership. Its nice to have what you see is what you get for a pricing plan. So much simpler and easier. I test drove my selections one week and my sales consultant Bobby was helpful and answered all my questions. When I made my choice and contacted him to purchase he pulled the car aside and made the purchase process trouble free. No high pressure tactics of any kind. This is what separates CarMax from everyone else. Good cars at good prices and good people working there. Ill be back for my next car. DB
I walked here just to browse and ask questions about buying a car being a first time car buyer. However I didn’t have a good experience here. When I walked in no one acknowledged me or my family so we just walked outside to browse on our own. After about ten minutes, we realized that no one was out there to assist us so we couldn’t even ask any questions that we had about the cars. We figured that if no one was trying to help or even acknowledge us, why would we want to spend our money here? But that’s okay because we will be taking our money elsewhere!
I recently test drove cars at CarMax Roswell. I was helped by Wendy Cornwall and when I say she went above and beyond, I mean it. As a young woman, I previously had some bad experiences with rude and pushy car salesmen elsewhere. This left a bad taste in my mouth when it came to car shopping. However, Wendy was incredibly helpful with figuring out my budget and features that I can afford. She took her time and genuinely wanted to help me find a car I loved. Thank you CarMax and Wendy for the refreshing car shopping experience!
So I seriously want to provide 5 stars. I purchased my 3rd car in 2 years from Car Max because my previous 2 experiences were fantastic! However this one ran into a few snags.My customer care coordinator during the week was amazing! He helped me find the right car, arranged the financing and payments I needed and I was able to get my trade in appraised and paperwork completed. I had my proof of insurance completed and everything sent to the Roswell store. I was promised my vehicle would be detailed and waiting for me.I arrived that Friday evening, paperwork was not there. Car was not close to clean and it took over 2 hours to process through. My last 2 vehicles only took 60 minutes as preparations were made in advance.I realized after I left the lot that my 2018 Hyundai does not have the floor mats. Should have been smarter at looking and I do appreciate that Car Max is willing to order them at their cost, however a little bummed they wont cover this cost. Beggars cant be choosers though right?The second part was a large stain I didnt see in the backseat. It was dusk, missed it and didnt realize it till later in the week. A one year old vehicle that needed some cosmetic work that wasnt handled is dissapointing.Overall I love my vehicle, it runs like a champ and the handling is great. Got a strong deal on it and will just have to deal with the rest.Would I use Car Max again? Yes....but I will be a little more cautious next time. Still recommend them.
So easy, lovely staff and left with a wonderful Acura. I would recommend this experience to anyone. They assisted me with insurance, helped me with financing through Bank of America (we had already been pre-approved but didnt have to do any follow up). I have enough to deal with and CarMax took care of the details. It had been a really long time since I had to deal with purchasing &/or financing a car so I was a little scared, but it was super easy.
This is the second car I have sold through Carmax. Initially I went to Kelly Blue Book for a quote on selling my car. They have me a number about $1,000. Higher that Carmax offered. I then had to drive around to 3 different dealers who had told me that would take cat at the KBB price all of them offered me $500 to $1,000 less than Carmax.This experience was seamless. I drove up at my appointment time with 5 minutes my car was being appraised. 10 minutes after that they gave me a 7 day locked in quote. Everyone was was professional and were very aware and took the proper COVID precautions. Then next day I accepted the price and again within 20 minutes I was in and out with a check for the car I sold. I would highly recommend Carmax.

I just bought a vehicle at Roswell CarMax a couple of weeks ago, and Cory was my sales associate. He was absolutely perfect in every aspect of the transactions. I would highly recommend CarMax to anyone.
I had a great experience. I got a new car this past weekend and I sold my car to them because they offered me a way better quote than the dealership. The appraisal was fast and fair. I know other people might think different. But I sold a 2006 Honda Civic with 190K miles that needed a paint job. I didnt expect to get as much as I did.I would totally recommend at least getting your car appraised here before you trade it in.
Our sales associate, Jay, was friendly and helpful from start to finish! We were not really sure what type of car we wanted and he was patient and knowledgeable about the different makes and models we looked at. This was the best car buying experience we have ever had (this is our 11th car purchase) - no high pressure at any point and no negotiation drama. We got a good appraisal on our trade in and the car we purchased had a an excellent price. And, the financing we got through CarMax was better than we could find anywhere else. We will never go anywhere else to buy a car in the future!

I did not however schedule a time to go in. But I was able to be quickly serviced by 2 great employees. Both of them named Jay! They were excellent at helping me transfer everything over and made everything go smoothly. Im definitely happy with my purchase
Getting the car off the lot was very easy. But how do you give a customer a car and the key needs a new battery, car needs washer fluid.....not to mention I called on the 7th day the last day to return the car if you didnt want to keep it, asked if they could find something else and never heard back from them LOL......Now Im dreading to think what else is wrong with the car. And that was the CarMax experience.
Great customer service but we had to wait over 2 hours for us to get approved for a rental car. They didn’t even ask us if we wanted a rental car in the first place even though they had to keep our car for several days. Why would you not offer that ? It’s in our warrantee. This place has gone downhill and we have been loyal Carmax customers since 2001. This is our LAST car with them.
This is not a review bashing all CarMax locations; however, if you can avoid the Roswell location, I would suggest it. I drove 3 hrs from Greenville, SC to pick up a car that I was told had no imperfections or scratches (it was $1000 less than the same model in Greenville). When I arrived for an express pickup, the car was dirty and had multiple scratches and worn interior areas. I specifically had asked about the cars condition to prevent this scenario. CarMax then re-cleaned the car and my express pickup paperwork (that I had already done over the phone for an hour) took me another 2 hrs. I finally left with the car. Within a few days, CarMax had to FedEx me paperwork that they forgot to have me sign, and I had to overnight it back. THEN, after traveling to Pennsylvania, they wanted me to come back in because they forgot to ask me to pay a down payment of $500 for the car...after 2 weeks of me having the vehicle. So now I have to overnight them a check for the down payment.And best of all, with all this inconvenience, they have literally done nothing for me. Just a sorry and thank you. Big business just rolling over me and Im forced to comply. Once again - could have all been avoided with a little attention to detail by Roswell, GAs CarMax staff.
Purchasing experience was decent (3/5 stars)- lots of waiting to do the test drive, then finalize the sale, but the people were pleasant and attentive. The after-sale experience has been terrible; have owned the car for 14 days and have had a mechanical problem. The service dept has been terrible to get ahold of (extended calls on hold, 2 hang-ups on the carmax end, etc.) to discuss options. Working with them on the limited warranty and Im told I have to have my car towed to a Carmax location 30 miles away from my home instead of having the car looked at by a Subaru dealer (bought an Outback) less than 5 miles away or another location even closer. Been working thru this with Service for 2 days with no resolution yet. 0/5 stars. At this point, would not recommend Carmax.
I received a fair appraisal and sale on my vehicle. The process was quick and clean. The vehicle I purchased at the same time was well priced and I had no problems closing the deal. I am very happy with my purchase. CarMax is a great place to do a no hassle deal and close quickly.
CarMax was not a good experience for me this go around. This is my third car purchase from CarMax, the first at this location. I did all the on line stuff and got pre-approved and all was going well. Then I received a call from the on line person because I was late to my appointment due to work and I felt pressure to Get In. I thought that since I spent all the time doing the online I would spend less time on site. It all went down hill soon after I arrived. I was there for almost 4 hours and did not get offered a drink or told were I could get a drink until I left sales and moved to final paperwork. Sales person had a bottle of water on his desk and drank while I was just sitting there. I got car and I love it.... however, due to my magnetic strip not working on my Debit card, it being a Saturday afternoon - which i was pressured into picking - and the impatience of the salesperson in really helping me, instead of adjusting my current paperwork with a change in down payment, they completely re-ran my credit and I am paying a higher % rate on my load because of it. No haggle turned into complete hassle.
CarMax @ Roswell/Alpharetta Hwy has awful and disrepectful Sales Rep and some associates...Got there to this CarMax after being referred from another that the car was here everything was set-up for me to Test Drive original Sales Rep at Other CarMax location told me all about 24hr Test Drive and even CarMax Commercial about Test Drive but the Sales Rep at this CarMax /Alpharetta Hwy told me and I had my kids and their cousin mind you these kids are 11 and 4 yr olds , CarMax Sales Rep said IF YOU ALL ARE NOT BACK iN 20 minutes, We (CarMax) WILL CALL the POLICE ! un warranted/ unasked he decided to spew this hateful , harsh to kids ears verbiage !...Nevertheless will Never Go Back to CarMax....Driving my new used Jaguar from CARVANA where They treat you with respect !
Excellent customer service! Great cars for affordable prices. A plus for me was their financing program! Lower interest rates than I EVER expected! Overall great financing options/ rates, cars, prices, customer service & a quick & simple process! Only spent maybe 2-3hrs before leaving with a 2015 Honda Accord, with only 1 prior owner, no accidents or defects, & just over 15k miles!! Thank you CarMax! I highly recommend this dealership. Got a Ford Focus for a pretty good deal. The facility was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, until I had and issue with my car. Unfortunately less than 90 days after I bought the car, it had a clutch issue, and CarMax sent it to Ford to get fixed as it is under warranty. Carmax told me that I would get a courtesy car as it would be 2+ weeks before my car would be fixed. Im 12 days with out my car, and with out the courtesy car I was promised. I get update calls almost daily this is ___ no update on your car and no courtesy cars. This has been going on for 12 days. Ive called several times including today and I am still being told no courtesy cars are in stock. One staff member I talked to told me we have some, but the tags are not updated, we have the money, but havent gotten around to it yet as we have to go to the DMV office

I sold my used car here. Chris Johnson helped with the apprisal. The quote was valid for a month. No dealer could beat that quote. The detailed appraisal report was very helpful and accurate as I knew my car well. The quote was close to Blue Book. It is much about convenience, all things done at single window and instantly. I didnt had time to deal with a lot of dealers or prospective buyers. So Carmax was a perfect option for me. The entire experience was fast and seamless and I was out of the door with the check in hand.They keep a massive inventory of all brands and makes. Also they offer to get automobiles from their other stores if one is interested.All in all an excellent place for no hassle experience and as they say no hassle pricing. :)
I bought my car about two weeks ago. After buying I realized there were a few issues. I know its a used car lot so there are some risks. However, once I brought my car to the service center i was shocked at the level of service I received. Jessica, my service consultant, was AMAZING! They paid for me to get a lyft to work the first day. Then paid for me a really nice rental for the following days as my car was worked on. Jessica updated me every step of the way. Carmax is amazing. Thank you, Jessica.
Like that there are appointments, and once you arrive there is little to no wait time, at least with my experience. The best part is being able to reserve a car to test drive without the risk of some other consumer beating you to your vehicle before you have a chance to look at it. Once it is reserved it is taken off the website until you have a chance to test drive it. Also like that there is no haggling over price, the price you see is the price you get.
GiGi set the tone— one of the most delightful people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. She gave me a great commonality and with such ease and tenacity. I’d hire her if I had a business. Then Matt finished the deal with precisely the same attitude and he crossed all the T’s and dotted every single I. I’m so impressed and blessed to have crossed paths with these two — especially at a time I needed them.
CarMax was great. It was the first time I ever used them and it was to sell a car. However, every day since then I have gotten a request to provide a review, which I did the first day, and after that I have gotten a request every day to provide another review. I then unsubscribed from all their emails, but still got this one requesting one for google, so I provided it. But, If they send me another request for review, it will be one star. I recommend giving them a fake email address for their paperwork so you will not get an email every day forever.
This was the first time I have ever dealt with CarMax and I found the staff very easy to work with. I just needed to sell my car and was very surprised that the salesman didnt try to talk me into buying something. If you dont want to deal with the haggling with people to sell your car yourself, then I would say this is the best way to go.
CarMax was great except when we bought the truck it had a recall (we knew) so we took to get it taken care of. Well when we were there the Ford dealership told us it needed brakes and air filter. We were upset that we just bought a $20,000 vehicle and it already needed brakes and air filter so we had to take it back to Carmax and they took care of it. But the fact we had to take it back - the location was not close to our house and we had to arrange my wife to get a ride to work. They should have done a better inspection on the truck the first time and we would not had to go back spending extra money on gas and time. The CarMax is 30-45 mins away.
New exactly what I wanted and found it on car max website. Had the car that I thought fit requirements shipped to Roswell. Turned out to be a perfect fit. Even had some amenities I did not notice prior. Did outside financing and they had second key fob made for car by the time I came to pick it up. Matt was awesome and Josh/Teresa kept in touch to let me know when car would be complete. No pressure no hassle no headaches. Truly professional and easiest purchase yet in my car buying history!!!
My wife and I walked in with a particular car model in mind and to get an estimate on the vehicle I currently own. A gentleman there sat down with us while our vehicle was getting appraised and thoroughly went over what it was we were looking for in our next vehicle. He gave us excellent advice on other models and walked us around the lot and showed us several that peaked our interest. We sat in several to narrow down our options and test drive the ones we loved. At no point did we feel pressured into buying anything, especially not something we couldnt afford. The approach was very refreshing compared to the migraine inducing experiences Ive had at other dealerships. The man that appraised our vehicle did so in a timely manner and returned our keys immediately after! A first for me when it comes to car shopping. Other places hold your keys hostage. They offered us $1000 more than we thought the car was worth and what we were expecting going in. We ended up purchasing a 2016 model with 24k miles that was priced under the fair market value! We also purchased MaxCare which I would highly recommend for peace of mind. The whole experience was a game changer for us and well never go anywhere else for our families car shopping needs. I have bought two other cars from CarMax and sold them one in the past. I spent about 20 minutes searching the site and found the car I wanted in Charlotte NC. I asked them to move the car to the Roswell Ga store and they did that without any questions. The car arrived in a shorter time period than they specified so that was great as well. I got the total price emailed to me, got a cashiers check and made an appointment to pick up the car. Did a quick test drive with a helpful associate, took care of all the paperwork and was out of the store in an hour!!. That is the way it is supposed to work. Went there to test drive and see the condition of the car. The rear bumper had a plastic detail that was damaged, so I asked the sales associate if they will replace that before we close the sale and she asked her manager about that, his answer was NO that is not visible, ( IF THAT IS NOT VISIBLE, HOW I SAW THAT ) . Very unprofessional manager. I asked about a discount because of the damaged, No deal, the price showing on the internet is the price you have to pay No negotiation. Thanks but no thanks!
Overall I was very disappointed with my experience at this CarMax. After spending $30K for a car, I had several issues and just felt the professionalism and willingness to address certain things were not addressed with the sense of urgency it deserved. Many of the staff members were going through the motions and customer service clearly was not a priority.
I had a great experience at the Carmax store in Roswell, GA for the recent purchase of my car.I am especially happy that they were willing to buy my car whether I buy their car or not.The sales person we had was courteous and helpful. The first car we wanted to buy turned out to be a car already sold (computer didnt had a chance to update since it got sold online 30 minutes before we came). So he pulled a similar car from Carmaxs nationwide database and have it shipped from Texas for free. We came in a week latel to complete the transaction in under 2 hrs.I like that the price is no haggle and it was easy to sell my car to Carmax at the same time.Highly recommended if you want a hassle free car buying experience!
No reason to trust CarMax. Bought a Jeep Patriot a little over a month ago.Issue #1 - Prior to the sale I put the vehicle on a 3 day hold until I could return and complete the purchase. I made an appointment with the original salesman but at the time of purchase was handed off to another salesman for unknown reasons. Something to do with who was managing? (Unsure about that.)Issue #2 - At the point of sale when taken back to the area where the paperwork is completed, I was taken back and after 5-10 minutes I was informed they were not ready for me and would I leave the area because it looks like we are not helping you. So I walked around for another 15-20 minutes until they were ready for me to buy the car.Issue #3 - Roughly 2 weeks after buying the vehicle I was informed they could not get the Title to me because it was a government owned vehicle and now they needed the police to run a VIN Verification on the vehicle. It told me they should not have sold me the vehicle until they were able and I am curious how they purchased it yet could not sell it to me... even thought they did. I literally had to take the vehicle back to the dealership and have local police run the VIN, and I am still not entirely sure what they were looking for.Issue #4 - There may be more than one recall on the vehicle but I was informed of at least one. Still trying to resolve that with Jeep as there apparently is a blank spot in the vehicles history. Unsure what that means yet.The bottom line is at CarMax I felt like a number and was clearly sold a vehicle they probably should not have sold. It was an experience that told me this was the first and last vehicle from CarMax I will purchase. It felt unprofessional and left me with a car I am uncertain of. Cannot wait to see what goes wrong next week.
Appraisers claimed my car had been repainted. So the appraisal came in low. I am the only owner of the car so I got me very worried that a car I purchased with 15 miles on it was repainted before I ever cranked it once. I just had a friend who owns a body shop inspect it and said while my car wasnt in perfect condition, it was, without a doubt, the original paint job. I dont know if the appraisers are underqualified or this is a way to get offers down on cars, either way, not a great experience. The sales staff was nice enough. Maybe its because I didnt intend to buy a car there?
I really enjoyed my experience, both buying my new car from Carmax, and selling 2 cars to them.The process was very quick, simple and fair. They also brought a car in from South GA to the Roswell location so I could compare to another car already on the lot. So I had 2 cars waiting for me on the day I arrived to make my decision. Each Carmax team member I encountered was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend buying and/or selling your cars with Carmax!
It’s pretty simple really. Choose a car you like and the price is fixed plus tavt in Ga and I think about $30 for title tag stuff. Carmax has clean accident free cars and you can buy with confidence.Car I purchased was very clean, took it to the Lexus dealer the next day and found out that the rear tires were almost bald, alignment was off and brake fluids were never changed from day 1. Paid about just under $800 at the dealership. Called up carmax the next morning and spoke with the service manager there and he told me that had I brought the car back they would have taken care of all of that but committed to get me reimbursed as I was a first time buyer.The check took about 3 weeks to get but carmax fulfilled their promise and ensured my first time buying experience remained a happy one.A lot of cars are overpriced in my opinion but I absolutely recommend them if you can find a discounted car. And they have plenty that have been discounted.Hope this helps.
I bought 2 cars in 7 years from Carmax. Both times it went super smoothly. I located the car I wanted on their user friendly web site and application both times. One of the cars was in another state and they brought it to the closest carmax to me within a week and with no charge or commitment to buy. The sales person gave me their cell phone and we spoke 3 times during the process (I called him twice and he answered my questions). No pressure to buy, no wait when I arrived at the Carmax dealership on my scheduled time. I am not being paid to reviewed them. Seriously, it was this good.
At first the sales process was extremely quick and easy. I didnt finance the car through CarMax and when the contract was sent to the bank they noticed that only my signature was on the vehicle contract but the loan was obtained using both mine and my wifes name. (I got the loan on-line no signatures required) Now I had to get my wifes signature on the vehicle contract and she was in London. No problem in this day and age, right? Wrong; CarMax informed me that they do not FedEx contracts even after I offered to pay the FedEx charges. They tried to get me to finance the vehicle through CarMax which was at a much higher interest rate than what I had secured at my bank. After trying to reason with them for an hour I told them to void the deal and Id go elsewhere. My downpayment had already cleared my bank but CarMax informed me that it would be 7 to 10 business days before I would get my refund. Finally the manager came over and apologized and informed me that they would FedEx the contact. I had to complete all of the sales paperwork again which took twice as long as the first time as the sales person was constantly leaving to speak with the manager. I purchased the car (after 3 hours) which has been running flawlessly, but I would definitely think twice about purchasing another car from that dealership.
We have purchased at least 8 cars from CarMax in various cites for ourselves and family members over 5 years. I would say we are a great customer. This location provided near us we purchased at least 3 of these cars, and sold 3. I understand the service Car Max provides--keeping people from spending time with unethical car dealers, but 4 years ago we worked with their Auto finance group and were jabbed with a close to 13 per cent interest rate. We have asked them to refinance it or trade the car as we are now in the 3-4 % credit range, but they keep devaluating the car by $3,000 keeping it underwater so we can t trade it. I think its best to spend the time and shop for the car and interest rate vs going there.
Robin is the real MVP. They sell solid cars with great customer service. I was looking at options, discussing, test driving, etc. for over a month and there was never pressure to buy or attempts to mislead me. My mechanic tells me Carmax outsells other used auto dealers in the area 3:1, and people like Robin are obviously the reason why.
Everybody treated me very well. Process was well explained. They brought a car I did not finally liked and there was no problem. I was mainly taken care by two of their sales representative, but in a moment I was taken care by the manager and it was fine. When closing I was taken care by a very polite girl for all the paper work and signatures. Everybody was great. I think the only think I did not like was the excessive-extensive quality survey Carmax sent to fill after I had bought a car. Every thing else was great.

Bought a 2011 Honda Odyssey here in February of 2016, by January of 2017 my engine failed completely and because my one-year warranty was still good, they had to replace the entire engine free of charge. The office staff failed to inform me of additional charges before performing the work and they had to comp that work too. I was never notified when my car repairs were complete. I got tired of waiting and called myself to find out my car had been ready for an entire day without anyway saying anything. When I called them about trading in the Odyssey this year in 2019, no one in sales ever answered, and no one ever returned my calls. I would never do business with this location again.
I knew I was going to sell my car when I went in, so Jay my salesperson didnt have to try too hard, but he did a fantastic job of explaining the warranty and everything about the car I was interested in buying. Alana in finance was super helpful and made that whole paper work thing a breeze. Jack in service is an excellent communicator, great customer service and all the work performed in the service department I had verified by a third party who said they not only did everything they said they would, but they did it well and they went above and beyond. So way to go Carmax! This is the 2nd car I have purchased at this location in about 11 years and if there is a 3rd to be bought - I will be coming through those big glass doors to see you knowing that from start to finish, I will be treated fairly, have a fantastic experience and get a good deal.
Sold my car to them. Not only were they fair, they were quick. I was in and out within an hour, they never had me sitting waiting for nothing. I was always moving forward with the close. Kambry wasn’t super kind, explained the process well and kept the process moving forward!

The staff are kind, caring and are invested in you getting what you want. They are patient and capable, accommodating and every person Ive interacted with in sales and service have been sweet and willing to go another mile. Id suggest a specific person, but I feel confident that their staff is top notch.This is a great place to go for a no hassle vehicle buying experience, with no sales pressure. The only complaint is that theyre busy so it does take awhile to get an appointment for service here, but there are other locations to try in the area and its an entire network.This specific location though has sold me two cars, one today and one six months ago and both have been in perfect condition. Truly a top notch, honest and friendly place.

2021-12-11We had a great experience at the CarMax location in Roswell, GA. My wife and I went just went to look at a few cars that my wife pulled up online on a Sunday evening. The car my wife really wanted to look at just got to that location and we could not find it. The staff member we ended up working with was Thomas. The first thing we noticed about Thomas was that he did not stop looking for the car, even when we told him we were just there to look and we were not set on any certain car. He ended up finding the car. It was tagged wrong. Thomas fixed the issue and made sure that we were able to see the car. As he was looking for the car, we actually found another car that we fell in love with but couldn’t find any info about online. Thomas found out that the car was on hold and had been on hold for awhile and took it off hold for us. We test drove it and fell even more in love. We came back Monday evening and ended up trading in one of our vehicles. It was such a smooth process. We owe all that to Thomas and the staff!

2022-03-27Fantastic customer service! Sam was ready and waiting for us when we arrived for our scheduled test drive. We didnt go with the first car we drove, but he had another ready to go for us as soon as we asked and it was perfect!he was a joy to work with and we love our new-to-us car. CarMax also has a fantastic warranty and extended warranty (which we always take advantage of) so there is no reason to worry about possible unforseen mechanical issues. This is our 4th CarMax car and we will definitely be back again.

2021-12-25I have purchased from Carmax in the past (Sacramento, CA-2 vehicles), Richmond, VA (1 vehicle). My experience in Atlanta, GA area was great. No hassle, vehicle had new tires and was filled with gas before I drove away. They took care of an airbag light (Loose connection under the seat) while I waited for the financing to be finished. They valued my time and I did not have to wait for other players to put in their time to sell me extras that I was not interested in. Staff worked with me to finance through my Credit Union. Everything was fully explained. I would recommend!

2022-06-19Everything was good, except the amount of time it took from the time we decided to buy the car. And we paid cash, no financing, no trade. A few days later, my son bought a car at the same place, but with a trade and with financing. He had an appointment for the appraisal of the used car. That took even longer. You need to make the buying process more efficient.

2022-04-22From start to finish, selling my car to Carmax was very easy. I made an appointment and brought the required paperwork. The car was inspected and I received an offer that was better than the trade-in offer at the dealership by a couple thousand. I believe the whole process took 30-40 minutes. 2022-02-02Got online offer, brought car in and was offered same. Didnt have title since vehicle was recently paid off and was waiting for it to arrive in mail. Offered expired after 7 days, received title on day 10! Brought car, title and original offer in and they said they had to reappraise, but I know they didnt, they just offered the same to me which was perfect. In and out in 45 minutes!

2021-12-30Great experience, you need to bring your car for an appraisal and in a few minutes they validate the price offered on-line. When I decided to sell, they took a few more hours to complete the process and give me the check. The price paid is better than the offered by the dealership.
