I want to say up front that we decided not to lease only because we decided to be on the east side due to class schedule, but the previous problems with Catalyst appear to be completely behind them. We had a great tour and experience with two of the employees, Margarita and Coby. They were very knowledgeable and answered every question, and seemed to be completely transparent with regards to the previous problems from last year. We even saw a unit that was not a “model”, and I really thought this was where we would sign; logistics led us elsewhere. You should definitely check it out and see in person. I literally found nothing that was negative. We even walked to the GT campus at Hemphill, and it took less than 10 minutes.
New management has not worked on amenities they have promised (gated parking???), is not responsive to maintenance requests, and does not have adequate cleaning staff around the building. Building is generally unsafe and management is underpaid and usually lazy, so there is not much accountability among staff. Many of the 5 star reviews you see on google reviews are attempts of new management trying to bribe people. For example, if you go in to teh front desk and drop a google review you can be entered for a chance to win a $100 gift card.Gross behavior, honestly. Catalyst has continued to disappoint, even nearly a year after moving in. Be wary of five star reviews, they are not genuine and many of the accounts posting 5 star reviews do not have any other google reviews and sometimes dont even have a profile picture. And for some reason, some people seem to be leaving 5 star reviews after just touring the place. Take it from someone who toured and then lived here for 10 months.. This place (with new management) is worthy of 2 stars. Not anywhere close to 5 stars.
Look man. I just received a message from our resident group chat that someone dressed in all black is going around knocking on people’s doors at 1am. Wish I could say this never happens, but messages like these come in too frequently. Too much trespassing. There was quite literally shots fired a couple weeks back INSIDE the building (5th floor and parking floor) between two people who don’t even live here. Police had to come and arrest people. Genuinely don’t feel safe in this building sometimes. As a female, I urge others to think twice before signing.
Constant parties going late into the night so its hard to sleep. The dirtiest hallways Ive ever seen, said they were going to power wash it once in the 10 months Ive lived here and they never did. Incompetent management in general. One of the least secure buildings in west midtown. They have tried to pay us to give 5 star reviews, this place is terrible do not live here
I stopped by the catalyst for a tour and i was kind of hesitant because of the reviews. I worked with Coby, the new LM, and he was able to answer all of my questions and was very transparent about the community. It seems like they are working very diligently to correct the issues of the past management. 10/10 experience
What everyone else saidEdit 6/19: recent positive reviews cannot be trusted. They’re being posted by Catalyst staff members, by prospective leasers, or were changed following a recent raffle for a $100 gift card where you were only entered if you showed proof of a changed review. My roommate and I just had to call the cops because Catalyst refuses to enforce the pool curfew and parties are held there nearly every night until midnight or later. The rooms have no noise cancellation, especially the windows, which means we can hear every conversation and song played. Never EVER lease here. This isn’t a management problem, this building is not good to live in and can’t be fixed without serious remodeling.
New update: the 5 star reviews are part of a raffle/bribe and by people who toured Catalyst. The apartment is still as insecure as the beginning and there’s constantly dangerous homeless people roaming around the apartment because it is that easy to get into. Not to mention the gunshots, multiple cars getting broken into every month, packages getting lost and stolen etc. “New” management is still as irresponsive and ignore anything that requires them to actually manage/be responsible. Please, please do not sign a lease here if you value your life and your belongings and want safe housing. The rates are expensive and the building itself is barely livable with multiple health hazards like trash everywhere, glass on the staircases, doors being easy to hack into, paper thin walls, no security for doors to staircases and no working parking gate etc. The only accurate reviews are the negative ones because the positive ones are either bribes or by management accounts. It’s honestly comical at this point.Fraudulent apartment! Please, please, no matter how cheap the Catalyst may offer in the future, do not sign a lease here. The management are proud liars and even after three times of last minute changing residents move in date, they still are saying that September first is when we will move in. According to the construction workers, the place still needs at least until November because of its unsafe conditions and unfinished work. Anyone with eyes can see that September 1st is impossible to move in. Not to mention when we talked about rent money and how theyre going to compensate us, they repeat that the hotel they provide is the compensation. When we say we will not pay September rent because it is highly unlikely that were moving in, they gaslight us and say that we will be breaking the lease and that is inappropriate. They even shut off their phone lines and wont even reply to our emails. Not to mention, they shifted their blames to the construction workers, a tornado?, and their inability to hire people... This place is run by literal crooks. If these are not big enough red flags, they have turned off their Instagram comments, deleted Facebook comments, and are still marking their apartment as available on apartment websites. I promise you that not renting with Catalyst will be the best choice of your life.Theres so much more horrible things that theyve done that I cant even continue anymore because of how emotionally and mentally exhausted I am from all of this.
The landlord didnt deliver on time. We were only able to move in 3 weeks late. No compensation was provided for this delay. Even after this, there are issues in the flat coming up every week. Faulty door locks, leaking showers, etc. The floor plan isnt the same as what we chose while booking. Things feel low quality; theres exposed staples or something in the upholstery, closet doors collide with each other when closing, door handles are wobbly, paint job has mistakes, etc. And the room is SO gloomy at night, like why cant you provide a proper bright bulb, they come cheap!Clearly not the luxury student living that they advertised.Updates after living here for 5 months: Ceilings crack, mould outbreaks, power outages for 24 hours, inefficient staff, some amenities are still missing.. gym is ready now so thats a plus I guess.
Worst Apt in West MidtownParking garages are extremely difficult to navigate in/out and are very limited in spaceThe interior hallways are incredibly dirty due to the odd design of having the hallways open to the outside environment by waist high gates that can be easily trespassed.Maintenance staff are highly unreliable and never punctual. Issues take months to be recognized and fixedExtremely noisy due to busy highways and constant construction across the street and on the apt itselfConstruction quality of apt suites are dismal at best. Clearly a rush job to meet hasty deadlines as there are multiple faults in all the suites that require fixing which as stated above take many months for maintenance to come and fixStaff are unreliable. Very little communication is sent out from staff to residents and never punctual as well. They defend the property and deflect any issues you bring up to them
My child was supposed to move on August 15. She has paid rent and deposit for August. This is ridiculous she did not stay there in August so where is that money? I have called left messages no response. Now they sending emails about rent due the first of September. Have these people lose it? Im beginning to think they do not have the funds to finish the project, so they are taking advantage of these students. The stress they cost these students. What apartment complex takes money and deposit and you not living at the complex? You have not responded to my request so the next step legal actions.
Made us sign the lease and pay the first month of rent early when they were not close to finishing construction. They had ample time to let us know. But no, they let us know a week before, two days before, and now one day before. Postpone, postpone, postpone. Im lucky to only be living an hour from the apartment. I cannot imagine what people out of state must be feeling. This is so ridiculous. Ill be telling others to not sign here.Fellow residents: if there is any way to legally and safely cancel the lease, please let us know. Or at least demand greater compensation.
THIS APARTMENT IS NOT READY FOR RESIDENCE!There is a new problem with this complex every month. Besides not having any of the amenities ready that were promised upon move-in, new hazards like going WITHOUT POWER FOR 12 HOURS, and WATER PIPES SPILLING ON VEHICLES have happened all within weeks of living here. The property manager has to be greedy for allowing people to live in these conditions without any kind of compensation. My food has gone bad in the fridge and freezer, and I’m sure I won’t receive a dime for any of it.
DO NOT RENT HERE.The move in date was supposed to be Aug 15. It has changed THREE TIMES since. Now, my move in date is September 1st. For three weeks, I have not been living at my apartment. They have blatantly lied to me countless times and seem not to care about my predicament of living HOURS away in a different state and simply told me to deal with it.The staff is extremely unprofessional and they never respond to email or phone calls. Furthermore, the people at the front are usually college students who have no clue what’s going on with Catalyst. We were given temporary hotel accommodations, however, they separated my roommate and I, so we also have to fix transportation arrangements we had planned since we signed in March on rope of food and luggage/furniture storage. The amenities are still not available to our use. Go to Inspire Atlanta, The Mix, etc. Anywhere but here.Update: the 09/01 date has now been moved to 09/03, less than 24 hours were we given notification.
Worst apartment in ATL, you could spend $200 a month LESS for an apartment ANYWHERE ELSE and it would probably still be better than what these people have createdOur washing machine has been down for 2 months. My service requests have been closed and ignored. -1 starno visitor parking besides on street -1 starno amenities available. Im not gonna be able to use the pool or gym until spring probably. -1 star3 separate garages and none of them connect -1 starThey just shut off their phone so people cant contact them. -1 star. You have 0 stars catalyst midtown. And these are only the problems Ive faced personally; everyone else has had these issues and then some.literal 0/10 hell lease sign here if you hate spending money wisely
I wish I could leave a 0 star review. We were originally told that we would be able to move in on the 15th of August. Only two days before our move-in day, we were sent an email saying that our move in would be delayed till August 26th. Even a quick visual inspection of the building would have indicated that that would be impossible. What followed for the next two weeks was a repeated cycle of the new move-in day approaching, only to be pushed back yet another few days.Above all this, we have been placed in hotels, some lacking kitchens (therefore being forced to eat out for weeks) and some even lacking free WiFi. Catalyst management refuses to pay for any of these additional expenses incurred, not to mention the inconvenience of living in a hotel. Calls to management have gone completely unanswered. And as if it couldnt be any worse, we have also been informed that many of the amenities promised when we signed our lease will no longer be available.Currently, our next promised move in date is September 1st. Well see how that goes. Regardless of when we end up moving in, the absolutely cavalier attitude that management has shown towards the residents does not bode well for any future tenants once the building is complete. Stay away from this apartment!
Been here since last year worst place you could stay the management is terrible had to pay for garage/ gated parking but the gate wasn’t installed for 8 months and never worked after. Place is poorly constructed and made cheap if you’re looking to stay somewhere look some place else
Did not tell ANYONE that the apartment would not be ready in time until 6 days before original move-in date. Keep pushing back move-in date. Our move-in date for floors 4&5 are TBD. Providing hotel accommodations, but not pro-rating rent for those people and not ensuring food or transportation. Dont respond to phone calls or voicemails. Making us pay rent despite not living there. The people working front desk arent told anything and cant answer our questions. We cant break the lease without paying all the rent for our whole stay.
Kept us in a hotel for a month and now expect us to move into the apartment while construction work is still going on. Ownership is not concerned regarding students interest. Furthermore, amenities that were promised will not even be ready when we move in. In general this apartment is very poorly managed and I would not recommend it to anyone.
At this point I have nothing to say. It’s all here in the reviews. If you’re smart you won’t pay them to disrespect you and drag you through the mud! Margarita and Janelle Petty are the managers who were not at the building when I specifically called and said I was coming to talk. Also amenities are not done at all and probably won’t be until next school semester. Good luck staying in a place that is probably built really bad and may break on you. I guess the good part is, if something like the ceiling does break and you get hurt, you can take them to court! Would be nice seeing all 300 students drag the CLS team to court! Hope all residents have an amazing day, except for Catalyst team members!!
It is September... I have paid rent twice and STILL dont have an apartment. Classes started in August and staying in a hotel and not having all my things isnt sustainable. Ive spent money I really dont have and it cost more to not be in my apartment than it does to be there. Still no move in date. Still no communication. Nothing.
DO NOT SIGN A LEASE CATALYST! My family and I signed up in June and the first rent was due at the beginning of August and the building has yet to be completed. It is beyond my understanding why they would even still demand rent at the first of the month if the building wasn’t even completed and wouldn’t be for at LEAST the first week of September. Aside from the blatant inconsideration, it has been extremely taxing since we weren’t even made aware of the issues until TWO DAYS before the scheduled move in date. Not having the building completed is one thing inconveniencing hundreds of students and parents isn’t. The way Catalyst handled their own lack of preparation is unacceptable and not fair to everyone who is now stuck without proper housing for the foreseeable future.
I have pressed criminal charges against the Catalyst Midtown Apartments with the Federal Trade Commission. My son was set to move in on August 15,2021. Since then there has been no response at all about returning his deposit and 1st months rent nor a definite move-in date. I was told that they were waiting for an occupancy permit, but they should have obtained an occupancy permit in July, when they excepted his application and deposit. This is definitely a criminal theft offense that has affected hundreds of student victims.
This place is the biggest scam artist project of all time. They told us we would move in this weekend, and waited until the last minute to tell us the building will not be complete in time. This is of course after we paid a month’s worth of rent for only 2 weeks of being in the property, which will now be at maximum 4 days if everything goes to plan. To add insult to injury, they won’t even communicate with us after promising to give us updates by Friday at 6pm regarding temporary housing. This is absolutely ridiculous and I do not recommend anyone sign a lease with this place. I cannot stand this team and especially Joshua. I hate Joshua.
Delaying the process once two days before move in wasnt bad enough apparently, so they went on and delayed move in again 17 hours before people living in hotel accommodations had to check out (plus it isnt super clear if they will be extending hotel stays till the second delay). On top of that the expenses like having to eat take out (no microwave + extremely limited fridge space) and having to take ride-share just piles up. Honestly the most frustrating thing must be the lack of communication. Having delays wouldnt be as bad if they had the foresight to tell us well in advance. I dont believe for a second that they didnt have predictions on how bad the delay was going to be. Im almost over the stage of being angry because Im just so stressed and tired about moving in.
ZERO STARS!!!! My son is a grad student at Georgia Tech. He was supposed to move into his apartment at Catalyst on Aug 15th. We flew out from California to move him in and were told a couple days before his move in date that his apartment wasnt ready and they would put him up temporarily in a hotel. It is now September 25th and he is still living in the hotel with no end in sight. The hotel has been really bad. Housekeeping has not come to his room once and he has been laundering his own towels. Not one single visit from housekeeping. How is this possible at Hilton brand hotel? Im assuming that it has to do with the deal Catalyst cut with the hotel. The front desk staff has been virtually unresponsive and Catalyst sent out a blanket email telling the students to stop asking the front desk staff for help. HORRIBLE!
The apartment didn’t tell us that we can’t move in until a couple days before our official move-in date. This cause tremendous inconvenience to me and my roommates because we are totally new to Atlanta. This is a team full of liars and scam artists. They promised that they would cover our storage and hotel and that we definitely would move in on 26th. When we got to the office, they said they can’t cover our storage and there is no guarantee that we can move in exactly on 26th. Horrible team with horrible attitude, don’t stay here.
Dont lease an apartment here. Theyre responsible for the collective misery of about 300 students who decided to give them a shot by signing their lease. We were promised the sun, moon and the stars and now they dont reply to our emails, have put all of us on some sort of a blocklist so all our calls go straight to voicemail. We were supposed to move in on 08/15, since then they have changed the move in date 6 times. I have had to spend so much money on food and laundry that I wouldnt need to had I had access to a kitchen and a washing machine (something they promised by the way). This is aside from all the stress this has caused us and has affected our personal and academic lives deeply.SHAME ON YOU CATALYST. SHAME
I concur with all one star reviews written on this apartment building. Margarita Nopal (manager) emailed my son saying that the building would be ready. I would like to add that the customer service is terrible and all employees who currently work there including the manager should be fired. Although the construction delay is not on them, employees are not helpful and won’t answer the phone! ALL CATALYST MEMBERS: As a lawyer, I have seen the options and my son and his roommate along with 12 others in the building are planning on proposing to break the lease (as written as resident rights under GA law) if phone lines are not up and a definitive date is not given by this week. I believe the Catalyst may even push back the 2000 building move in, even though not stated. It seems as though taking this to a small claims level will be the best option, since the Catalyst manager (Margarita Nopal) nor the management are understanding. I hope all residents will work on contacting higher management for CLS and work on getting these employees fired.
My friend is literally bouncing between places because she hasnt been able to move in, living out of a suitcase. Just so everyone knows, their management company is Campus Life & Style which is a Vesper Holdings subsidiary. Many of us have tried emailing and calling practically a hundred people with no luck. I dont live here and they answered my phone call immediately but wont pick up when actual residents call. My suspicion is that they blocked residents from calling for now.Update: Finally got someone on the phone and they are telling people theyll leave a note for management (they are apparently in a meeting right now) about breaking the lease. Another one of my friends called and was yelled at by whatever lady answered the phone. PLUS, Ive now heard of someones hotel stay being extended to September 11th.
GREAT team!!! They are all so helpful and nice throughout the whole process. They answered all of my cousins questions, worked with her through the leasing process, and were completely transparent about fees, schedules, updates, etc. Joseph and Margarita were wonderful!! Joseph gave us a number that we could contact him at any time, and he was so quick to respond to all of our questions. Margarita gave the best tour and did an amazing job going through the amenities with us. The whole staff really is amazing!
The initial move in date given to the residence was august 15th, then a week before this date residence were told that ONLY the fourth and fifth floors were not ready for move in because of elevator troubles and we could not move in until the 26th. Fast forward to today (the 24th- TWO DAYS before move in) and we are informed we cannot move in until FURTHER NOTICE. Its comical that the staff thinks we are stupid enough to believe that a.its only floors 4 and 5 and b. its elevator troubles- like...drive by the place?? Judging by the mounds of dirt and vacant construction machines clearly the ENTIRE building is nowhere near done. Atleast just tell your paying, STUDENT residents that its the whole building and it is going to take longer than two and a half weeks to build the whole thing. To add on to this sorry, poorly thought out, obviously made up excuse, they are giving us an option to either live in a hotel or get rent compensation. It should be both, I did not sign a lease and pay $1000 to live in a hotel. I signed a lease and paid $1000 to live in an apartment. The least they could do after these pathetic series of events is give us both. Whatever you do, do not sign a lease here because the only thing I have gotten out of it is homelessness and misery.
I never wrote reviews before. However, this is NECESSARY as it lays out reasons for legal action.First of all, the management did not communicate about the delays and gave out false information which led people to hold on to their expected move-in date. Because of the extent of the delays (e.g., I entered the apartment exactly one month after the expected entry date of August 1st), it’s on Catalyst to demonstrate that they were good faith when concealing the information about the “progresses” of constructions. This is a violation of the principle of truthfulness.Second of all, keeping rent at the price point envisioned in the contract violates the right to re-lease the room which the contract itself establishes. No person with an access to the internet would ever consider renting from a place with this sort of reviews (average review is 1.7 at the time of writing and plunging by the day), thus ‘de facto’ voiding the right of re-lease. An adjustment of rent to market prices is necessary given the extraordinary (i.e., not within normal ranges) change in the quality of the service provided.Third of all, Catalyst should compensate residents for the extra costs they are facing. These include and are not limited to: increased food expenses, commute costs, gym memberships, and – perhaps most importantly – the opportunity costs of the hours of lost work. While Catalyst can go on all day clinging to the contract provision which limits liability for lacking amenity provision, they motivated legitimate expectations among residents regarding provision of amenities and other services. Thus, the extra resident expenditures might not be justified as they originate in a bad faith move from the landlord.Hope that legal action can be initiated on these premises.
DON’T RENT HERE! I finally ran out of my patience at this point. I don’t really write reviews but I just have to this time. I was supposed to move in on 8/15 and catalyst pushed back the move-in day to the 26th, and they put us in a hotel for a week. I was OK with that cuz it was only a week of staying at the hotel. BUT THEN they pushed back the move-in again, to 28th. They said it’s because of people requesting a weekend move-in. I emailed them if we can still move in on the 26th but NO RESPONSE, and they don’t pick of any calls unless you’re lucky, yes, getting them to pick up the phone call is like getting a lottery. Now it comes the worst part, I was ready to move in on the 28th, they sent us an email the last minute saying that now we have to stay at the hotel till 9/1. I KNEW IT! Of course they gonna push back the date again literally one day before move-in. I’m so glad I didn’t leave the hotel early, I knew that we have to stay here for longer.I’m very disappointed at this point. Now I have to Lyft to class for another week. We have no wash machines, no kitchen at the hotel I’ve been wasting a lot of money. If you see my comment, please, sign a lease with a trust worthy renter. I would not recommend catalyst to anyone
This place is highly unprofessional and ridiculous. The only staff who is nice and helpful at catalyst is Maya and that one boy who picks up my phone calls sometimes and his name is definitely not Joshua. Anyways I talked to the manager about my hotel situation because someone kept messing up my hotel accommodations ( giving me the wrong hotel and date after time and time i kept telling them that it was wrong and even my roommate had to email them about it and they told me that they’ll fix it even tho it never was fixed which is frustrating). Also when I asked for a manager one of the workers was basically telling me that oh she is gonna say the same thing i’m telling you right now blah blah. What’s so hard about handing the phone to the manager if i want to speak to her i want to speak to her. As i talked to the manager she told me that she would give me a call back after she speaks to the general manager by thursday and i got no call back. Im suppose to check in Friday 8/20 and none of them called me today which is 8/19 about the hotel so i had to figure out the hotel situation by myself. I called every hotel near the apartments. They turn off their phones and don’t check their emails at all. Which is funny because they actually sent out an email after i sent them an email and i never got a response. Won’t be signing here next year lol.
I am very disappointed with Catalyst. Move-in was supposed to be on 8/15 but was delayed to 8/26 then to 8/28 and now 9/1. The property seems like its still in construction as well. My calls, emails and concerns have not been addressed nor answered. Everyone is trying their best to stay in the loop but we are being told one thing and then another.
PLEASE do not sign a lease here! I am a parent of a student that resides at this community, and I have never worked with such a dishonest and money hungry group of people in my life. Getting in touch with the property is damn near impossible, and please do not expect to receive a response when you have concerns about anything. Atlanta is a beautiful growing city, and there are many other student communities to become a resident.
The move-in date was supposed to be on 15th August but they have been postponing it every week. Now the move-in date is supposed to be on September 1st but I dont believe theyll deliver on that promise. We didnt stay in the apartment for the whole month of August but paid one full months rent. On top of that we had to spend so much on take-out and Uber. Horrible leasing office and horrible apartments. DO NOT SIGN HERE!!!
Very unorganized.Moved the move-in day back multiple times due to the building not being completed, and even then they are still taking rent money out of residents’ accounts even tho they haven’t moved in.Do NOT rent here if you want a smooth move in experience. And the construction staff and apartment management are very unhelpful and rude when dealing with people’s issues that THEY caused.Once again, do NOT rent here.
My first month in atlanta (and USA) has been an unforgettable experience thanks to catalyst.i am really enjoying the urban nomadic lifestyle so far. squeezing my life into two suitcases, wandering between hotels and not knowing where to stay next day is incredibly thrilling!
If I could give this place a zero star review, I would. It is absolutely outrageous that the move-in date for student housing is after school starts, and hearing that my friend has had their move-in date extended once more is simply the final straw. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
Sharing the same sentiments about last minute update from the management. Every day we called to check but no response with couple of more days to go before the college starts! Whenever we got hold of someone, we were told that alternative stay arrangements would be confirmed before end of the day. So many days went by but no confirmation. Regret the decision to choose this apartment.
ATTENTION ALL CATALYST RESIDENTS: We have called the hotel and the Catalyst has extended ALL HOTEL resident stays until the 12th of SEPTEMBER. CANCEL YOUR LEASE! Find somewhere else to live before the Catalyst decides to give you horrible customer service WHILE you live there! MARGARITA NOPAL NEEDS TO BE FIRED. Catalyst HAS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Nobody is at their office nor is anyone picking up calls. Give us our gas money, meal money, and more than $50 per day!Not to mention, they’re all taking a vacation and are not in their office. Save your time and DONT drive to the Catalyst. BACK OUT OF THE LEASE NOW!! Inspire and HERE Atlanta both got done this semester and the Catalyst can’t even tell their residents that they don’t know when it’ll be ready!! THE EMPLOYEES ARE LIARS AND INFORMATION IS COMING FROM MANAGER MARGARITA!! They are taking advantage of students! Get your parents involved and call ALL higher management and get these people out!
Very disappointed in the staff! My roommates and I were given false information regarding the condition of the building. The building is still not complete even though promises were made by the staff that it would be. I’ve never experienced this before anywhere else. We paid rent back in July! I want my money back at this point. They playing with our time, money, and lives. UNACCEPTABLE!
Finally got to move in yesterday and the apartment had not been thoroughly cleaned before my arrival. There was stuff on the floors, a weird smell, and my toilet looked like it had already been used. kinda crazy since this is a brand new apartment and they took an extra month to complete it??? also, my washer machine is not working and the shower is way smaller than i had anticipated
READ THIS IF YOU NEED A LAWYER!!!If you cannot afford a lawyer, Find a firm works on a contingency fee basis. Meaning there are no fees or costs unless they recover compensation for you! You won’t have to pay them anything to start handling your case. There are MANY lawyers in Atlanta that do this. In your claim against the company make sure to fight for compensation of any pain, suffering and inconvenience you may have experienced as a result to their negligence.
Besides all the move in inconveniences on the SECOND DAY(Friday) of moving in the bathroom stops working, maintenance is not able to fix it and management says it has to wait until Monday. They suggested using the roommate’s bathroom until then. Very unprofessional and unprepared.
I was so excited to move into this place only to find out they are scam artist literally scammed us out of first months rent because now we have to stay in a hotel after we paid rent AND AN EARLY MOVE IN FEE for an apartment we’re not even staying in!!!!! and don’t get me started on how we can’t use the rent for the month of august towards another month because obviously I’ve stayed in a hotel for damn near the whole month of august and they want us to turn around a pay rent for September after paying to eat out and for Uber’s after they promised us a $300 gift card for any expenses (eating out) and a $100 Lyft gift card which we have yet to receive this complex keeps extending our stay in hotels not offering anything but a hotel which they can’t even do that right they are scamming young adults thinking we can’t handle our own
I was supposed to move in August 15th and still haven’t moved in. The building is not done and they aren’t telling me when it will be done. Me and hundreds of other people have been homeless every since. They don’t answer phones or emails and very unprofessional. Would NOT recommend!
On top of what everyone is saying:I ordered a laptop to this address and UPS says catalyst got the package but when I went to the catalyst office they said they didn’t have and that I should check back tomorrow.DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. “Here Atlanta” is a bit more expensive but way worth it.
Yet another lazy company sending spam to our Georgia tech email adresses... I don’t care under what act you got our emails, I just hate seeing my inbox spammed. I had previously looked at Catalyst since I’m searching for an apartment for next year but not interested anymore after this.
DO NOT LEASE HERE!!!!! DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!! THEY PROMISED MOVE IN DATES KNOWING THE BUILDING WERE NOT FINISHED. PARENTS SENDING THEIR KIDS TO SCHOOL FROM OUT OF STATE AND YALL HAVE THEM UP IN HOTELS BECAUSE YOU TOOK THEIR MONEY KNOWING YOU COULD NOT PROVIDE SAFE HOUSING FOR THOSE YOU LOCKED INTO LEASES.
Shady marketing practices, stop mass subscribing students to your marketing blasts who did NOT sign up for themEdit 3/19: I have received ANOTHER email marketing blast from them after removing myself from the email list (which I didnt sign up for) AND Catalyst Midtown responding to this review saying that I was removed

2022-05-27I enjoyed meeting the new management and getting a tour of the new facility. This new construction is definitely needed in the Midtown area and they offer promitonal sales which is great considering how the downtown residential area is high. Another thing is the amenties that this complex has. I cant wait to move in!

2021-10-03DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. Im not a person who writes reviews like this, but at this point, my patience has run thin. When I originally signed my lease at Catalyst back in March, I was excited at the prospect of moving into these apartments. However, this experience has been filled with nothing but stress, unprofessionalism, and dishonesty. As part of our lease agreement, we were required to pay the first months rent by July 15th with an August 15th move-in date. That move-in date has now been changed THREE times!!! From August 15th to August 26th; August 26th to August 28th, and now August 28th to September 1st. We werent notified of the first delay until four days to move-in which was incredibly inconvenient, but I tried to be understanding of the situation considering we are in a pandemic. When Catalyst notified us of the second delay to August 28th, they claimed Many residents have requested a weekend move-in to work around class schedules. This is inexplicable because why would we ask for move-in to be delayed further when weve already spent two weeks without being able to live in apartments that we paid for in advance. Furthermore, no one responds to emails or phone calls so it would be impossible to get in touch with management to request anything. Now, less than 24 hours before the expected move-in they promised, were sent an email saying that due to unforeseen final construction issues..., and City of Atlanta approval processes it is best for everyone involved that the move-in date be changed to Wednesday, September 1. Theyre also claiming in this email that a tornado impacted the elevator timeline, and there have been labor and supply chain challenges affecting the timeframe. Mind you high-rise student apartments that began construction later than Catalyst have been completed without issue, and the last tornado in Atlanta was in May.... If executive management has known these challenges were affecting the promised timeline, we should have been notified and provided with adequate options months ago.All of us are growing incredibly tired of this run around. If construction is not going to be completed for several more weeks/months, just make us aware now so we can try and obtain alternate housing - which at this point is almost impossible since many complexes are sold out. We can literally drive by the complex ourselves and see there seems to be a ton of work left to be completed, but they claim its unforeseen?!We deserve to be compensated fairly for this experience. Those of us who are being housed in hotels are receiving absolutely nothing, and are incurring additional costs to store our belongings, do laundry and buy food, at minimum. Others who are temporarily residing somewhere else are receiving a credit of $50/day off their rent for September which is not nearly sufficient compensation for the headache. Catalyst should refund our August rent or credit it towards September, and also discount our future rent since they also claim that aside from the study rooms, the other amenities weve paid for will not be ready when we move-in. In addition, we should be reimbursed for any additional expenses we were forced to incur while being displaced. None of us paid over $1000/month to stay in a hotel, we paid for an apartment and the promised amenities.I honestly dread moving here when the building is complete because with the way theyve mishandled this move-in, Im sure the conditions will be subpar with less than helpful staff. I would not recommend moving here to anyone, please find another complex that is honest and professional.By the way, the only five-star reviews listed are from people who toured the mock room in their leasing office months ago... Catalyst disabled replies to all posts on their Facebook and IG pages, so we have no choice but to post our comments on Google, which conveniently Catalyst doesnt respond to although they found time to reply to the previous five-star reviews lol.UPDATE: Floors 1-3 moved-in 9/27 but 4-5 is still delayed indefinitely w/no amenities ready.

2021-09-06Went to the Catalyst in person ready to move in over the weekend only to be told we could not. Bldg 1000 to the left is not ready. Construction workers were still on site see pics. Bldg 2000 to the right is mostly ready but did not pass inspection due to elevator as per the management but i believe there is more....if you zoom in you can see the garage does not appear to be complete and the first floor still has some work to be done.We were accommodated in a hotel with parking, laundry and kitchen amenities until official move-in date given as Aug 26. However, given the amount of work yet to be done, it seems unlikely the bldg can be ready especially building 1000.where there more yet to be done.Ignore all of the first reviews of people saying they moved in or like the apartments. No one has moved in.

2022-06-15I’ve now lived at Catalyst in building 2000 since September. Still no gated parking so the only garage that won’t destroy your exhaust and transmission is always full, loud construction 6 days a week from sunrise to probably 8 or 9pm (great for a Saturday morning hangover), amenities are just for show (tvs don’t work, makerspace is locked, speakers don’t work on rooftop, table tennis has broken paddles and no balls, etc) homeless people like to wander into the common areas, the trash rooms are overflowing and filthy, I could go on. On top of dealing with the ongoing construction on our building (meaning the amenities were not prepared until halfway through our lease) and the above problems, they have the nerve to raise the rates. We were excited to live here and now do not plan on signing a new lease. UPDATE: building will not notify you of crimes (cars have been broken into, there’s been at least two shootings) attached a photo found last night

2022-06-25My apartment has flooded 5 times in all and they have done nothing about it. My laptop was damaged in the flood and once again they did nothing about . DO NOT waste your 1,000 dollars for the most bare minimum apartment in atlanta. lets not forget parking is 100 dollars and there is no gate and hasnt for my whole lease. homeless people live here and theres a car break in almost every night. There was also RECENT SHOOTINGS on the property.

2021-08-24I was supposed to move in on the 15th and they extended our move in date until the 26th because the building isn’t done. We were just told that they will be further extending the date. It’s honestly ridiculous that we signed a lease and already paid for our first months rent and we don’t even know when we can move in. How can an apartment complex promise students a place to stay when the building is not even finished yet? I drove by the buildings and they are clearly still under construction. Also, notice how all the good reviews are BEFORE people were supposed to move in. They left us screwed and stressed out, yes they are providing a hotel but whoever stays at the hotel will end up having to move twice. Moving is already stressful enough as it is, and now we are just in this state of limbo with no idea what’s going on, all while everyone is returning to school.

2022-06-04The pool has been closed for the longest time and were basically not even allowed there. The first couple months, the online payment method didnt work properly and I was being given heavily taxed warnings, which I had to speak with the staff to get them dismissed. The P2 parking entrance is notorious for testing the limits of residences car axles and driving skills due to the huge cement wall in the way. Theyre installing gates there now so I can only imagine how much more crowded that entrance will get. Living room is tiny, kitchen is frustratingly small, and the only thing I truly love is the spacious bathroom. Thats it.

2022-02-04Wish it could get better after the delayed move in but apparently the building quality is lackluster because of the final rush in construction. Water has been flushing the hallway and our room a couple times and no one can work out a solution. Soundproofing is nonexistent. And if you like to do some serious cooking, there is no duct but only a filtering fan. Not good even with an already low expectation.

2022-04-21When we moved in 2021 there was a construction going and they didn’t tell that to us. However, this place is a lot better now and the catalyst staff is very helpful.

2022-06-15I really enjoyed staying at Catalyst this year. Started off rough but I loved it. Always have mixers, food, and events going on for residents that are free!Taylor cook is a great property manager and has really helped put the community together
