Get the wings.Nice atmosphere, the kids that work here are doing great. They don’t wear it too tight so just be cool and have a tiny bit of patience.
First time there but I will be back, especially during football season. Fantastic staff and friendly atmosphere. Try the wings!
Great Tots! I typically like fries more but their tots are perfect. The fried mac and cheese is great too!

Despite an abnormally busy Sunday night, Katie was a great server. She took care of our large group and got all of our orders right and out pretty quickly! We sat on the patio out back—a hidden gem (but but the TVs aren’t working out there) Food was good too, especially the tachos! If you’re debating, I’d definitely go for the tots, not the fries.
I Enjoy the experience here. Nice respectfull staff. A hig end hole in the wall. The chicken lickin wrap is definitely a favorite of mine. I have not had a bad experience here. Portions are very satisfying. Glad to have a great place like the city tavern.
My wife and I were looking for antique stores in Carrollton area and after a few hours I decided that since I was chauffeur I needed some food. I wanted a good burger so we decided to try City Tavern. We started with a beer and some fried pickles. Cold beer and the fried pickles were crispy and had great flavor. I got the pimento bacon cheeseburger and my wife got the chicken BLT. Both sandwiches were great. Our server was very busy. Looked like she and the bartender were the only ones working the front of the house but she did a great job and took great care of us despite the full house. We will def go back next time we are in the area. Good food. Cold beer and great service.
Of all the bars Ive visited along the east coast, ranging from Ithaca to Pensacola, City Tavern on the Square in Carrollton is my favorite. City Tavern is, above all, consistently great while remaining refreshingly unpretentious. The staff at this location have always been among the very best. I love coming up for lunch on Mondays for their weekly special on wings, or later in the week for a Textbook and a pint. In my opinion, City Taverns got no room for improvement. When the British talk about what they like here in the USA, they describe the creature comforts of bars just like this one.
I would give it 0 stars if I could. The servers were great but we sat there for 2 hours and the kitchen never even made our food. We asked to speak tot he manager to get a progress report on when we could get our food and she wouldn’t even come talk to us, she just told the server to tell us that we wouldn’t have to pay for our drinks. So we left starving and had to go somewhere else. This place is absolute garbage
While the crowd might not always be our favorite, the team members here are always wonderful and take great care of us. One experience here was pretty late in the evening and when unwanted guests decided to try to sit with us at our table, our waitress was quick to step up and try to handle the situation. I think the guy was too inebriated to get her polite request and we had to say something ourselves, but she did what she could to help us. I appreciate that more than she knows!
We go here all the time. We really like the food. Warning : they open at 12, not 11am. We found this out yesterday when we arrived and they said they were sorry but the opening time that is posted online has not been updated.The portions are pretty small but everything we have ever had here has been delicious.
Food was good and reasonably prices, drinks on the other hand way over prices. $4 for a draft beer in a plastic cup. Seems a little steep.

Good waitress. Very personable. Got my husbands order wrong but he liked it and decided not to say anything. I think he just liked her dimples!But seriously, food is good as well as the atmosphere & the beer is cold. We will be back.

Had the Cuban Burger. It was really good. Nice atmosphere. Place was packed full. Only thing Id like to see different is a better draft beer selection. But all in all, it was a positive experience.
Great Food, Great Atmosphere and Great Employees. A wonderful local tavern that my wife and I frequent several times a month. One of our favorites! Locally owned and operated. Owners are usually present and working hard alongside their employees.
Went to my friends girlfriends birthday dinner party. We probably have 15-18 people upstairs.. The food was alright, burger had a weird twangy taste to it and the fries were cold and taste like McDonalds fries without salt. The manager yelled at us because she called out the food twice and no one ordered it. The other waiter, Ana, was great though. Very nice . They have $1 natty lights so thats a good time.
Went in tonight (9/26/16) with my husband for a quick dinner. Our server (didnt catch her name, but she was the only one working the floor) was excellent. Food was great as well. He had the rise and shine burger, and I had the pimento cheese nachos. We dont come to Carrolton often, but if we ever find ourselves in the area again, well definitely stop by.
Had a strange visit here one timeFirst off this place is usually pretty good! But one time the wife and I went here and sat down.We waited about 15 minutes before someone came to our table when we were greeted with a, are yall planning on eating here tonight? We looked at the waitress and said, yes. She said, well our kitchen is closed. Would you like something to drink? We said, no, thank you and left.It was like 630 on a Thursday. They should have had a sign up.When we do show up with the kitchen open we are always seemed to be passed up for other tables. The college waitresses must want the tip from the drink money because the wife and I hardly order their overpriced drinks, but thats no way to treat a paying customer!The chicken sliders and the pimento and cheese is a must if you go by a night when the kitchen is open.Recommendations? Roll the dice.
City Tavern is a great little bar as you come in to Carrollton. About 7 beer taps that carry a good variety. Usually 2 Printers Ale varieties. Food is good, tater tots are worth going for! Burgers are really good if you like those.
All of the bartenders will never let you down. My favorite place ever, literally wish everyone in the world could go there. If you’re ever running through the square (City of Dreams) give this bar a try. They have great food, people & last but not least, a great selection of beer. Awesome place to gather a good group of friends to eat and have a few or a lot of drinks. (Make Daniel play music)

A great atmosphere and great food, especially the Wings, Burgers, and Tots. I dont drink alcohol, but the bar has a very warm, welcoming Cheers type vibe. The staff is all friendly and on top of their jobs. Great place. I highly recommend it.
This was my first visit. Young lady at counter was just ok. Food wasnt the best. Overall the visit was mediocre. Staff could have been friendlier.

Ordered an Un seasoned chicken sandwich... Went another time and got the tater tot “nachos” with shredded chicken, the chicken tasted like nothing and the salsa tasted identical to one I bought from Walmart 😣, it’s called Pace. Do not get anything but the tater tots. Other than the friendly staff, this place is not good. Nothing here is seasoned.
Atmosphere is nice and the crowd is of all ages. $.50 wings on Mondays and $1 house drafts make for an affordable good time. (If you like cheap beer)

After driving 14 hours from New Jersey to Georgia, we were looking for a meal and a beverage before we head to bed. I called City Tavern and asked what time they served food until. They stated until 10pm so we headed straight over. We arrived around 9:30pm, sat and waited for a server to come over. I tried to get the attention of two servers working as they walked by us to help the tables around us. We ended up leaving at 10pm after being ignored for a half an hour by their staff. We ended up at Irish Bread where that staff was more than welcoming and happy to serve us. We won’t be recommending them to any of the 50+ people in our party who are also in town this weekend.

My brother was planning on having his rehearsal dinner here. They charged us $850 or there about for 41 chicken BITES and 30ish sliders, along with some macaroni and a bit more. Essentially, it was 15 dollars a pop for barely any food per person. The owner or whoever he talked to about it was incredibly rude. Will not return and I highly suggest not having events here.
Had a business lunch here and really enjoyed the ambience and decor. Service was good and my hamburger was delish. I would visit again for a drink or two and food.

Menu is VERY limited. They only serve 3 things: wings, burgers, and tots. On 50cent wing night they told us its been 75 cent for a while, but the menus are wrong. This is of course after we had already ordered. Food is okay. Drinks are pricey, and they are always out of everything. Usually only have 2 people working. 1 waitress 1 bartender.

2022-02-27We were actually in the Next Door venue, next door, to the Tavern, which they own. It is a catering venue. Food was good. Drinks were good. Great room with a bar. Lighting that you can set to your liking. You decorate or not.

2022-02-20Usually packed, so we figured wed give it a shot. Atarted with mozzerella sticks. 6 cheese sticks for $6. Beer batter, so possibly made in house? Restaurant sin 1 was the prepackaged marinara that came with it. Burgers came out, and the tots were cooked well but unsalted. Burgers themselves were cooked fine, but had little to no flavor, just a plate for the toppings. I dont feel a strong desire to join the throngs at meal time. It was decent, but not worth the price. Has a ways to go to become a good stop.

2022-04-29I used to go there about once a week, until now. 4/28/2022 I just had the saltiest wings and fries of my life, combined with a table of 13 beside us of the loudest drunks Ive seen in a long while. Im actually surprised the occupancy limit gets exceded like it does, and nobody does anything about it. They actually cart all of the tables out on certain nights to get more room for the herds of drunk college types in there. Mystery indeed..... Please put a regulator on your kitchen salt shaker!

2021-02-02Love their wings! Theyre crispy with the perfect amount of sauce. They were cooked thoroughly, too. I must say, I was impressed. The only regret is I wished Id ordered more wings.It was my familys first experience at this establishment. It was great! The place is very clean, beautifully decorated and trendy. There are TVs mounted and a bar as well.I look forward to my next dining experience at this location.

2022-06-26Absolutely the worst service! waitress never came back after our meal showed up cold. meal being wings, tots and nachos. waitress socialized all around us and never attempted to follow up on drinks or food. always enjoyed the city tavern! the last few visits have proved this to be declining fast! it now is equally as poor as the bread pub!

2022-04-04Will never be back here. The customer service was awesome but the food was disappointing at best, fries were hallow, the wine were dry and had pretty much drips on life sauce on them. Like I said service was top notch, despite the place being packed - but food was not worthy money.

2022-06-26If you’re looking for a special event venue in Carrollton, look no further than the City Tavern’s “Next Door” venue. I’ve attended and hosted multiple events here in the last year and they have been phenomenal EVERY SINGLE TIME. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, they are super accommodating, and the staff is second to none.

2021-02-01My first time going here and we brought the whole family! Ive always loved the Bar and Grill style restaurants and this one is top notch. I love the relaxed feel and was able to talk and enjoy my time there. Very nice place. Looked clean and orderly. Our waitress was very polite and attentive and the food was delicious! I had the Philly Cheese Steak and Tots and my fiance had the wings. So good!! Our hats off to the cook and the prices are reasonable too. Im sold and I will be back shortly. I dont live far.

2019-06-20First visit. Date night! Looking for something different so we dropped in. Lot of choices on the menu. We ended up costing the Chicken Tender dinner. Good price with a large portion. Excellent flavor! Honey mustard was great. I had fried and my wife has grilled. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area. Highly recommended!
