Clothes Mentor in other cities:
Quality, name-drop slightly worn womens clothing store. The staff is helpful and the dressing rooms are spacious. The clothing selections are plentiful. The store is laid out very well. Great selection of dresses and casual wear. Shoe selection is surprisingly well stocked for a second-hand store. Prices are reasonable and discounts offered to repeat customers.
I had brought these People Some very good Quality clothes and they turned most of Them down even purses and but they turned them down Out of 3 bags they only took 3 items. I feel like if its not to their standards Not by what they Say they are go by I Would not bother with this Place for wet you get for your things really is not worth it To new pants And a new shirt $6 really people Im letting them have that $6 If they cannot give you more then that then please dont waste your time Unless youre really That hard up.
I could kick myself for accepting my pay out today....I had one item alone that I paid $90.00 for in December 2018..A pair of Vans that were last years model that still had the tags and shoe paper..along with 9 other items and only got a cash payout of $25.00...3 brand new pairs of boots that have never been worn that I paid $40.00 each! What a rip off! May be a great place to shop but not sell...never again!😡
I have NEVER met a more crabby group of women than I did when I walked into this store for the first time!! No one smiled and the older woman acted like I was bothering her when I asked about a dress behind the counter. Spent over a hundred dollars on 2 items , and no one said thanks for coming in, please come back, have a great day...zilch!! They might have great deals but who wants to be disrespected when your spending money?! Will NEVER shop there again!!!!!!
I dropped off clothes at 3pm and got called intowork shortly after. The next day i went to pick up shortly after and was informed all the items were donated this morning. These were nice dresses, most name brand. They didnt try to call or text, just donated the items.
This past week was my first time shopping at this establishment. I’d first heard of this store from a co-worker. Being that I had an event coming up, I thought I’d swing by. Big mistake. When I first walked in I was not greeted, which was fine, just an observation. I found an item that caught my eye and continued to shop. Not even being in the store for five minutes, an associate walks up and acts as if she is cleaning. She then proceeds to ask if she would like me to take my item to the front and asks for my name. I instantly felt odd about that but continued to shop. After her taking my item to the front the associate never returns, weren’t you cleaning? I make my way over to the next aisle and hear the associate asking another customer if they are finding everything alright. Waiting for her to ask for their merchandise, she didn’t. Why was I singled out? A few moments go by, I turn around to look at the clothes behind me and that same associate is just standing there and had been watching me. At that point I felt unwanted. On my way to the front, I found a pair of jeans I thought would look nice with the item the sales associate took to the front. I stood at the front for many minutes being ignored by the manager and few associates, almost walking off before being acknowledged. I let the manager know I no longer wanted the pants but would still like to try on the cardigan. Feeling so uncomfortable, I chose to try on the item outside of the fitting room. After the item didn’t work for me, I took back to the front and left their business. I let my mom know of my experience and how it bothered me. She called to express concern and the managers exact words were “If she didn’t like her treatment then maybe she should shop elsewhere” she made it as if I’d did something wrong by shopping there. Her attitude was very nasty, unconcering, and unapologetic. And because of this, I will never return.
I wish I wouldnt have wasted my time trying to sell my clothes here. Out of my basket of clothes, only one thing was worn and only once at that... Despite the fact that they wanted to buy nothing, I was going to look around the store but the staff had an attitude with me the entire time. The woman tried to lecture me for having hangers on my stuff, when another employee had told me that it was fine to leave the hangers on... very unpleasant experience. I prefer Encore
Awesome customer service and they have a great selection of name brand clothes, shoes and accessories. If you have things to sell, they offer a much better pay back than that of Platos Closet, Threads Up, etc. Highly recommend Clothes Mentor for women only though - they do not buy/sell boys/mens clothing.
I love shopping and consigning here. I have found all kinds of amazing treasures in there from a great Louis Vuitton (all their designer brands are authenticated) to lilly Pulitzer, and every mall brand you can think of. They have reasonable prices too. Make sure you have some time when you stop in because it is a big store and you will need time to look through everything. You can also follow them on Instagram to see some of their higher end things as they come in.
Clothes Mentor is one of the best second hand retail store’s that Columbus, Ga. has to offer. The prices rang from $1.00-100.00 depending on brand and type of item for sell. When you bring in clothes the staff are vey friendly in educating you on how the buying process works and what season the store is taking in at that time. All in all it is a great store to shop in for gently used second hand items, specially designer items at a great low cost.
Great place to sell and buy designer clothing. They often times have NWT items. Very courteous staff. They have everything from Lilly to Gap items. They also have an array of accessories. Check out their IG for posts of new higher end items. You can even purchase over the phone.
Don’t waste your time trying to sell anything to this store. I entered the store a few weeks back with a large Rubbermaid container filled with shoes. New and slightly worn. I was told it would take a bit for my items to be reviewed and then I’d be contacted. Within 30 mins I was called back to pick my items up. Untouched! They never looked in the container. I had two $100 pair of Guess pumps inside that were brand new. The store claimed that they don’t buy “teen brands”, but had the audacity to offer me $2 for the pair of Rue21 pumps that I handed to them on top of the container to try to throw me off. I packed the shoes in the container a certain way and I got them back exactly the same way. I’m sure my race played a factor as well. From the moment I entered the store I picked up that I wasn’t welcomed. Anyways...I downloaded the Let Go app and sold 3 pairs for $110. I will definitely take my business elsewhere in the future and you should to.
I brought in a large hamper of clothes at 4:30pm on Sunday. Most items were never worn or had tags. Clothes from the blue door and from Ann Taylor. I struggle to get into the door and as soon as I walk in I am told they no longer are processing clothes. They stop an hour before closing hours. Without even glancing at the clothes I had to offer. So I then turn around and struggle to get out of the door with my large hamper of nice clothes. I decided to take my clothes to Plato’s closet up the street because I feel they do not deserve what I have to offer. Bad customer service. They could’ve easily taken my basket and said they would call back the following day. I will not be shopping here.
UPDATE: This had been a 2 star review due to the reasons stated below. I went back Awhile ago and the horrible saleswoman was no longer there, just friendly, helpful staff and way better selection. 5 stars.Old review: No petite clothes sold here. Nothing especially chic or eye-catching- but good for ho-hum casual office wear for middle mgmt. Good shoe selection and activewear. On selling - I felt condescended to on two separate occasions by one particular employee. She seemed to judge me before even looking at what I brought in - that was the first time I’d ever visited a Clothes Mentor, she did not accept anything. A few weeks later I needed a maxi dress and thought while I was there, I’d try to sell again. She wasn’t working - another buyer bought nearly everything I had, many of the same items she had turned down in seconds. I’d hoped she had left the company but last time I went in she was there again, gossiping and glaring judgement as I tried to shop for boots and sell a small collection of fairly new, now too-big work dresses.
I want to thank you for only offering me $53 for brand new items with original tags like a North Face vest, two Coach purses and a Guess purse. I sold them at Platos closet for $125. The items you denied for alterations which was impossible since they were brand new just without tags (so I guess I got some serious Betsy Ross skills) I was paid 30$ for 4 dress shirts and a pair of dress pants. So I am so glad you helped me find Platos closet in Columbus so I know I can get a fair price for selling my items. Thanks a lot for making me some money!
Came in to sale an item and was told I would have to come back because they stop and hour before closing which is totally fine. Except I was there at about 6:50 while they close at 8 one sales associate wanted to do the sale but the other told her no because of the hour rule. Not to mention they were not very friendly

2022-01-06Took several very nice designer purses here to sell. After several hours, I was told by very dismissive staff that my bags were not worth anything. I could tell the way I packed them that they did not even LOOK at some of my purses. So I posted them on fb marketplace and made A LOT of money. I feel this place is biased. I would NOT recommend them for buying OR selling. Anything.

2022-05-17I used to go to [another clothing resale store] for all of my clothes selling needs, but started to feel like I wasn’t getting enough for me higher quality clothing. My manager at work suggested Clothes Mentor, so I gave them a try and I definitely will be going back! They gave me more than I had imagined before going in and the staff were all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I highly suggest going to their store if you want to make some quick bucks from selling your clothing and walk away NOT feeling used :)

2022-04-29I drove my mother from Albany Georgia to the store in Columbus Georgia yesterday. She purchased several items and when she attempted to leave the store, the sensor went off. The clerk checked her items and said that it must have been a separate store since her and she cleared it. She attempted to exit the store a second time and the sensor went off again. The clerk checked her back again and stated that she was OK to leave and if it went off again the to just ignore it. The sensor went off again The third time so my mother ignored it as she was told and left the store. This was so embarrassing! When my mom checked her back this morning, she noticed that the sensor was still on one of the items she purchased. I contacted the store and provided this information and advise that we would have to drive back to get it removed and if there would be some form of compensation as we would have to travel back from Albany Georgia. I was told that the manager would have to make that decision. I spoke with the manager and he stated to me, “It’s a simple sensor and you can take it anywhere to get it removed. We have had people come in the store with sensors on items from different stores and we removed them if we felt they were legit.” Well, I don’t feel comfortable doing that and feel it was the clerk’s responsibility to ensure all sensors are removed. He offered no other resolution. I feel that this was a very unprofessional response to an in-house error. We won’t be going back!

2022-03-10UPDATE RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: even worse that you took 27 items and gave me $60. Really??? You are gonna make around $270 on average for the items and you pay me $60 lol! I knew you were cheap but that’s ridiculous!!! Also, instead of defending your employees it would be helpful to apologize to the PAYING customer instead of sounding condescending. Oh well with gas prices I’ll save my money and donate my items to someone who will actually appreciate it.Terrible customer service to start with. The two girls working couldn’t look up from the phone to wait on me. There was one bag in front of me and I was told it was a 2 hour wait. I took two full baskets of plus size clothing (many still new with the tags) and they sent most of it back saying it had wear on it. When I pulled out a new top and asked why they didn’t take it she just said the same thing about it having wear. Also I shopped in the store and was very disappointed in the selection. Things were quite outdated and did in fact show signs of wear. Today was my last trip to clothes mentor. Save your time and money

2022-05-13Practically everything I buy comes from Clothes Mentor. Most items are from Chico’s, Talbots, Ann Taylor or Banana Republic & quite often they still have the tags on them. I shop there as much for the selection & quality as I do for the price. It’s the only place where I indulge myself with whatever I want.

2022-06-28After I made an online order, the store was quick to ship it out. Unfortunately the USPS took a while to get the package to me, but the owner of the store kept me in the loop about tracking updates. The items showed up in great condition. 🙂

2022-03-04A big DONT BOTHER!!! Lazy clerk asked for all hangers to be removed and leave clothes for them to look thru that were ironed or from cleaners. Then offered $2 on silk 90$ pants , etc. Then returned them all rumpled that she didnt purchase. Youre SO much better off donating and taking a tax deduction/credit. Jimmy Hall you need new lead staff.

2021-09-05I came in with a lot of name brand shoes a coach purse never used before and brand new expensive heels along with a dress never worn before tags still on it. They didnt buy any of it i walked around the store to see old worn out shoes smelly blouses and more. Old purses so for them not to buy anything in my bag i felt as if they where discriminating against me. I do not recommend at all 0 stars

2021-04-26I dont expect top dollar for my items. Many of my items are brand new and name brand. They nickel and dime you. Most of the stuff in the store is old. I go here maybe once every other year. The staff has changed and the new people apparently dont know how to price stuff. Youre better off just giving the stuff away or selling it on Poshmark, Ebay etc.
