Just started taking my cat here and so far they are awesome! The staff are very friendly and they explain everything well. They contacted us to check in after our visit to make sure everything was ok.I am also boarding my cat here in a few weeks so we will see how that goes. Very good service!
We felt very welcomed at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital. We were greeted by the friendly staff the moment we walked in. The technician and vet explained everything in detail and took the time to explain the characteristics and mannerisms of our new puppy. We were very pleased with our experience at Coal Mountain.
We have been part of the CMAH family for 7 years. There isn’t enough time or space to give the Staff all the accolades they deserve. From the time you book an appt. until you pay for their services you and your pet are made to feel special. Dr. Surber has been/is our Vet and she goes beyond what we ever expect. Our Boston, Kinley loves to go see her friends at CMAH, we just have to mention “Dr. Surber” and she goes wild, well wilder than usual, it is so funny. Our first Boston was medically challenged, and she had a lot of issues but Dr. Surber and the staff got us through every one of them. You will not be disappointed with the service and care you and your Furbaby will receive at CMAH. Highly recommended.
Best vet we have ever been too! After a few bouts of redirected aggression between our two larger cats the vets at coal mountain decided to put both cats on medications. This worked really well and allowed our cats to be friends again. Coal mountains phones are always answered promptly and everyone is very friendly and easy to speak to. I believe pricing is very affordable compared to our vet in Tampa. Its nice to find a local vet that takes the time to evaluate your pets thoroughly without charging an arm and leg.
I’ve been going to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital since I got my Lab 9 years ago. I now have two dogs and wouldn’t go anywhere else. They love my dogs as if they were their own. They treat them with extra special care and are always happy to see them. The staff have big hearts. They are professional and care about their customers.
I found Coal Mountain via Google as I needed a vet kinda last minute and rather late in the day. They were able to fit me in just before closing and my pup saw Dr. Dabbs. I have been to 2 other vets locally and have seen 3 different vets between the two, and I have to say that the staff at Coal Mountain were incredibly friendly! Especially considering my late appointment. Dr. Dabbs was also very helpful in helping my pup with his allergy issues. I could tell she was really listening to me and trying to think through all I was saying to find an answer to help my pup. It was hands down the best vet visit I’ve had since having my pup. From the front office to the patient room…it was just a great visit. And super clean too! Highly recommend and will definitely return.
I just changed over to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital because I was not happy with the vet that I had used for years. The ENTIRE staff (every single person I have interacted with) has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I am blown away by the care, compassion, professionalism, and friendliness of everyone working there. They were so nice and caring with my dog, it truly warmed my heart. Dr. Surber is fantastic. She was so very thorough and did a great job explaining my dogs issue I brought her in for. I am so thrilled I found my way to CMAH! If you have pets you care about, you absolutely should bring them here.
I have four pets and the staff treats them all like they are very special. Dr. Stephanie Hartsfield-Vinson loves animals and you know it when you talk with her. Her compassion is very apparent when treating a sick fur baby. They follow up the next day after treatments to make sure the pet is doing well, which gives you an opportunity to ask any questions. I have had great experiences with this practice. This time it was our Penny Lane and pancreatitis. She is all better now. The staff treats the animals with so much compassion and care. The vets there are wonderful.
Excellent staff and vets. My dog had been suffering with ear infections for over a year. I had been taking her to another vet service inside of PetSmart with no results. I spent a lot of money there while they only treated the surface problem with the same type of medicine after each visit. Coal Mountain looked for the root of the problem and have started treating my pet from the inside out, which is what I begged the previous vet to do. Coal Mountain listened to my concerns because they know that, as the pet owner, I know my pet best. A few hours after receiving the right medicine my dog was more perky than she had been in months and actually went and got a toy to play with. Thank you Coal Mountain!
I’ve only been using this vet for about one year. Very easy to get an appointment and the doctors and staff are very nice and explain everything they are doing. My pets are very comfortable with them and they always follow up to see how my pets are doing. Very satisfied with their services.
Took my Jax in for an emergency due to allergies and vomiting. They got me in a.s.a.p.! Not only was the personnel amazing BUT the D.V.M (Dr.Heath) truly took GREAT care in managing both Jax and myself!! I was very emotional and Dr Heath was informative, and so caring of my needs as well as Jax. Color me impressed !! THIS is by far the best Veterinarian office I have ever encountered. # 10 star facility!!! They are my vets for all my fur babies from this day forward..UPDATE!!!..( That was 2 years ago....I dont feel the same way anymore!! Not even willing to help knowing that everyone currently has to decide to either fix their dog or feed their families!!! )
I was very impressed and satisfied with their care and services. They were very kind and professional. They were able to book an appointment quickly for my very sick Kitty. They gave affordable options and they were efficient. They followed up with me on her progress the next day, a Saturday!
Our pack has been patients and boarders of CMAH for over 8 years. Dr. H and her staff have always been wonderful and make us feel like family. We are able to get appointments quickly, we love the app for medication refills, and we appreciate how caring they are with our pets and with us.
Just took our dog there for a well check after moving to Forsyth. The staff was quick and knowledgeable. The doctor examined and gave vaccines in the room with us which we had not experienced before. We LOVED this as you know what is going on with your pet the whole time. She spent a good amount of time with us and made sure all questions were answered. We’ve found our vet home! Thank you!!
We moved close to this vet several years ago. I would drive to pay less at our other vet but I dont feel taken here. They evaluate your fur baby and breakdown costs before they do anything or give you an estimate. I have said no to some services before. Our spaniel goes for grooming and this is the ONLY place our 110 lb. blind lab has ever comfortable going. Dr. Surber can keep him calm so he doesnt need to be muzzled or drugged. He nips when he is scared and doesnt know what is going on. Dr. Suerber always keeps a hand on him and talks him through what she is doing. Im truly amazed and grateful for such a great animal hospital.
Thank you for providing an easy and affordable teeth cleaning experience for our 4 year old dog, Hazel. For some reason she experiences a much quicker buildup of tarter than our other dogs, so it was really important to get them cleaned before she had additional dental problems. Your drop off/pickup process worked well, and I was really happy with the cost. I could tell you took great personal care of her and appreciate that. I also appreciate that you offer additional services as precautions, but more importantly, I appreciate that you all are not pushy about it and try to shame me into purchasing them. Thats why I stay with you all!
This past week my old lab Daisy had been quite sick. She couldnt hold food down, could barely walk, and was acting confused. We took her to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital where she spent the whole day. I cant recommend this place enough. Everyone there was so patient and understanding. The doctor explained things in such a caring way, and gave us progress updates as Daisy was being treated. Im happy to say that my dog has made nearly a full recovery. Im thankful I have such a great vet clinic near me in North Forsyth.
The staff and doctors are awesome! I brought my dog for his annual shots and because he has had some bad allergies -- even with the social distancing order, they were quick and efficient. I stayed in the car while a tech came out to retrieve the dog. The doctor called me from inside the office to let me know what the issue was and how it should be treated. The tech brought my dog and his meds back to the car, and we were on our way!
We called Coal Mountain Animal Hospital to request an appointment for our 9-week-old puppy. They scheduled an appointment for that same day. The exam was thorough and informative, lasting almost 1 hour. All staff and the doctor were loving and positive with our pup. This is definitely the start to a lifelong relationship with this practice!
Coal Mountain Animal Hospital is absolutely the best. Dr. Surber is amazing. She has always provided me with great information and always answered all of my questions. We moved away and sadly have to leave Coal Mountain as it is now an hour drive. I asked Dr. Surber if she had any vet recommendations in the area I moved to. She did not, but she went out of her way to find out a couple of good options to recommend for me.The whole staff their is so helpful and you will not be disappointed by choosing this place for your animals. They truly care about your pets!
It was the first time I got to go inside with my puppy, and they were just so sweet with him. You can tell a lot about a person by how much a dog likes them (especially since he’s been in there totally by himself with them) and my little guy just loves them!! I was really happy to know that the puppy package covered the exam I had to get because I thought it would count as a sick visit, but it was totally covered!
Wonderful visit! I took my cat in for a check-up, and I left very pleased. Dr. Heath did a great job and made sure I didnt have any questions. My cat is very shy, but once out of the carrier, she was walking around, and even let the vet tech and Dr. Heath hold her. Will definitely be using them again!
Brought my sick pup in for a checkup and left with no results, after spending $360. Brought my business and money elsewhere to get the situation resolved. Extremely over priced. All staff members have an attitude not professional, consistently rude. Manager seems miserable as can be purely in it for the business side of things. Not a happy friendly environment for the dogs/workers will never be returning or wasting my money there.
After only one visit I am very impressed with this office. The staff covering phones, the techs helping, the doctors...everyone has been very professional and helpful. In this great unknown of COVID it was terribly difficult for me not to be in the room with my child(dog) and the staff when above and beyond with calls, follow ups, and even emails to keep my informed. Thank you Coal Mountain for helping me navigate a very stressful time with my dog.
I took both my dogs in for their yearly exams and shots. Dr, Heath and the staff were great! My older dog is a mess usually but she was quite calm with Dr. Heath. My younger dog (16 mo. Golden) had a reaction to her vaccines last year. Dr. Heath was great with talking through options and we developed a plan to move forward next year.
The doctors are really, really good. But I had an emergency midday last Saturday - before they closed. They would not work me in, even though I have been taking my cats there for over 15 years. This was my last cat and he had only ever gone their his entire 10+ year life, and since this practice was established. I was able to get him in to Creekside 20 minutes after I called Coal Mountain (both closed at the same time). It turns out I had to put my best friend down. I cannot believe that Coal Mountain would not see my cat. He had gone to Coal Mountain his whole life. Again, the doctors are great, but if you need good service and genuine concern about the health of your pet, I would recommend Creekside.
They took great care of my pup Barney for almost 10 years until he developed mass cell tumors and never recovered even with chemo. They let me come in and spend some time with him and then my husband and daughter came in to see him before the gave him the meds to put him down. He always loved going there, got excited every time to see them and he was well loved by all the staff. If or when we decide to get another dog, theyll definitely be taken care of by the Coal Mountain Staff. Our cat is going there now, but shes not so thrilled to go like my pup Barney. Thanks again for taking good care of Barney up until his last day of life.
PROS: Most of the staff members are friendly; they seem to appreciate & respect both the animals and their owners. The doctors are knowledgeable, professional and courteous and seem to genuinely want to help keep their patients happy and healthy. The boarding facilities at CMAH are very good, especially for the cats. The dog kennels are a bit cold with all the steel cages, but I guess that is to be expected.CONS: Most medications and test results are quite expensive in comparison to others.+++ Pet Grooming at Coal Animal Hospital is EXCELLENT because of Michelle, who has been there for many years. She is highly experienced, kindhearted and the crown jewel of this entire office.
I have been using Coal Mountain Animal Hospital many years now and would never take my beloved family members anywhere else. Dr. Stephanie Hartsfield and her staff are the best and truly care about the health of your pets. They are always very accommodating and compassionate even when I had an emergency with one of my pets. I know my pet will always get the best care possible at Coal Mountain Hospital!
My pets were in bad shape when we went that day for a visit. We recently added a new member to the family that the neighbors left behind. That bought on a whole new meaning of taking care of - she had been so neglected. Coal Mountain got her up to par and my other animal too - she was suffering from the same things that the dog had at this point. They were both so much better, and it could be seen within 6 hours of our office visit. Great people, good at what they do, and care about the animals.
Our dog loves to go to the vet and the kennel at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital.....really. We have always had excellent experiences and great service from all their staff. And to have a first class kennel on site is a real gift, as we travel frequently. Having experienced many Veterinarian hospitals, this is the best personal service we have found.
We love Claire Surber at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital. She gets in the floor and examines our dogs and makes them feel so comfortable. She is very knowledgeable and personable. We had tried other vets in the area and we love the way the staff takes care of our two dogs.
Coal Mountain Animal Hospital is wonderful for boarding and care! I have relied on them this past holiday season to care for my puppy and he always comes home happy and tired! The doctors, nurses, caregivers and offices staff are the sweetest and kindest that I have ever met.
This was the first time our little chiweenie, Ms. Flopsy Mopsy Lili Pond, experienced Coal Mtn. Animal Hospital. AND IT WAS WONDERFUL! From my phone call to set up the appointment to the checkout it was a great experience. You can certainly tell they truly care. They loved on our sick little fur baby and did a great job explaining things. They did not try to gouge out my pocketbook either; they offered several treatment options that fit my budget. I highly recommend them and am so glad we have found a vet we love! Thank you ALL for a job well done.
DO NOT bring your pet to Coal Mt Animal hospital!!!The staff and vet there are completely incompetent. Went there for a cough, they gave us an antihistamine. My cat was unresponsive within an hour of taking it. Called the ER vet they recommended. Gave them the symptoms and they said the medicine is used as an appetite stimulant for cats with cancer and a sedative. It is technically an antihistamine but it is not used for that and they would not recommend it for that. They told me to monitor her and see if she was breathing ok and if she had any changes to bring her in immediately. I then called Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs and they concurred with the other ER. They also added that the dosage was way too high for her weight and the fact that she has a heart murmur. They told me as well to monitor her and that the sedative effect was what I was seeing. I stayed up with her half the night and thank god she’s ok this morning!!When I called Coal Mt Animal Hospital they were rude and argumentative that they were right and that my cat’s heart murmur was the reason for her reaction. The heart murmur that they knew about because I gave them the echo report!! I asked to speak with the vet or the owner and they refused, the “practice mgr” also refused to give me her name!If you care and value your pet DO NOT bring them to COAL MOUNTAIN animal hospital!!!On top of everything the med they sold me came out in the 1950’s, it’s a 70 year old medicine! There are tons of newer better meds out there. They charged $42 for 14 pills. Online the medicine is sold at Petco for $22 for 1000!!!They paid 2 cents a pill and charged $3 a pill! A 150% increase.Unscrupulous business and dangerous for your pet.
Dr.Heath is amazing she made me feel so comfortable!!! The other staff is wonderful as well. I was afraid to come in because I went there 10 years ago but I wasn’t sure if it was still an amazing vet but it is! I can won’t take my dog anywhere else! The only thing I can say is smile ladies life is to short.
I adopted a 4 year old Maltipoo and took her to CMAH the next day to see about a little cough. They explained the process on the phone when I made the appt, were prompt in getting Scout from the car in to her appt, getting her seen, and explaining her issue and meds very thoroughly. Very personable, professional staff from the beginning of the process to the end.
This has got to be the best Veterinary Hospital that I have ever taken my fur babies to. Dr. Heath is a dream and the staff is always kind and courteous. I have never had anything but wonderful service here and thank goodness that they love my pets, almost as much as I do.
CMAH is so amazing! We have always received outstanding care for our German Shepherd. The staff is so nice and accommodating to our individual needs. We recently tried another vet because we had pet insurance that required us to go elsewhere and WE CAME BACK to Coal Mountain because we did not receive the same level of care. I would highly recommend CMAH anytime. We use them for everything: vet visits, grooming and boarding!
Always had super service at Coal Mountain. They have a sincere concern for their patients and display it consistently. Our Malti Poo, Max, actually likes to to go there. Usually, the animals would react as though they were going to the dentist for a root canal after a few visits to the vet, but at Coal Mountain, our Max seems genuinely happy to see the staff.
We have adopted two dogs and take them both to Coal Mountain for their medical needs. Everyone there is super nice. I really appreciate the time and attention that they give my Gunner; he was so shy and nervous whenever he had to go to the vet at first, but now he has warmed up to the staff and does much better.
I absolutely love Coal Mountain Animal Hospital! They have always been so good with our little labradoodles, Annie & Maggie. Wait time for appointments has been minimal & they always take time to talk through any concerns I may have & make sure I understand everything about our visit. I highly recommend them!
We have been with Coal Mountain Animal Hospital for 6 years. Dr Serber has been our Vet for the entire 6 years with our 2 Boston Terriers. There are not enough words to express our appreciation to her and the staff at CMAH for the care they have given our Furbabies. They give of themselves beyond what is expected.. I highly recommend CMAH!
I love coal mountain animal hospital. I bring my chiwawa there whom I consider my child and I know that Dr. Heath will take excellent care of her. She is patient, kind, caring, and truly cares for your animal. She goes out of her way to make sure you and your animal are comfortable and feeling at ease.I would reccomend Dr. Heath to my family and friends. Thank you to Dr. Heath and all the wonderful staff at Coal mountain animal hospital.
Coal mountain animal hospital always helps to take care of our puppy! We absolutely love having him groomed there and he always comes home smelling amazing and happy! I would definitely recommend using Coal Mountain Animal Hospital for your grooming and veterinary needs.
We were moving and realized at the last minute that we needed a place for the dogs when the movers got here. We called Coal Mountain and they immediately accommodated us by keeping our girls for us. We’ve been using them for 20 years and they have always been there when we needed them. Thank you!
Referred by family members to CMAH when we moved to the Cumming area. Not only with the fine medical services that they offer, but with their caring attitude whenever we have boarded our little Jack Russell. Our little girl is getting on in years (13-14) and shes a bit nervous when we leave her. However, when we pick her up shes happy to see us, but notnervous. Highly recommend this animal hospital.
My vet had passed away and I was trying to find a new vet. I have an elderly German Shepard. The first vet I tried totally discounted everything I said and my dog continued to suffer. A friend referred me to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital and I could not be more happy with the service my dog and I have received there. The vet listened to what I had to say and treated my dog accordingly. Kiley (my dog) is doing so much better! Thank you so much Coal Mountain Animal Hospital!
Overpriced and they slip in fees!! Took my dog for a bath and got charged an examination fee! I never asked them to examine my dog! The prescriptions they use are WAY overpriced. Target does pet prescriptions and there is a big price difference. Find another vet unless you like being overcharge. And honestly, the pet care was average.
After diagnosing our dog with an immune problem that had to be monitored they called us at 5 pm and told us to pick up our dog and take it to an emergency care facility. Our dog desperately needed a transfusion. The refused to take the time to do it. They waited too late in the day to check up on our dog and because of their error wanted us to spend 1200 dollars at an emergency vet because they wanted to go home.Their idea of monitoring was walking her twice a day and giving her pills. They were not watching her condition. If they had then our dog might be alive today. Then the dr told us she was doing us a favor by waiting 10 extra minutes for us to get there past closing. Then when our dog some how made it through the night they refused to take her in again because I questioned their incompetence.I had to start all over again with another vet and our dog died that night. If you love you dog AVOID this vet. The service is terrible. They might be able to handle getting your shots but when it comes to a real problem find someone else.
All the workers where nice. But I really felt like I got blind sided with the bill. I was never told the price thinking it would be around what I have paid in the past at other vets. It was VERY over Priced! After the visit I called around to other vets to see what there prices where and yes I got ripped off. I still cant believe how much I just paid. I do feel like I got taken advantage of.
Every time I leave Coal Mountain Animal Hospital I feel cheated. I moved to this area and used them because of their location. I read the bad reviews and now I wished I listened to them! I went in for my yearly examination and they offered a junior canine test. I have learned my lesson in the past by not asking how much something costed in the past so I asked how much would this test would run. I was told around 70$ with no other explanation. When I checked out the price on the bill was $112 for the junior canine test.... on top of the annual examination fee and the annual shots (which are the charges I expected). My bill was close to $300. When I brought up the fact that I was told the test was $70 NOT $112, they explained to me that it was $70 on top of the annual fee. How am I suppose to know that?! When I was told $70, then I expected to see $70 on the bill. Which is fine, but dont make it sound like it is $70 when on the bill it runs $112. It was not clear to me how much the price was. I felt cheated and when I asked they assistants they made me feel dumb. She even admitted to saying the test was $70. Nothing was ever offered to fix the misunderstanding. Again, this is NOT the first time that this has happened to me. A very similar situation happened with the grooming services. Please be careful when using this vet and ASK questions when something doesnt make sense!!!
I stopped by to purchase some products. I really wish the receptionists would learn to greet customers as they walk in with a smile and a hello. All three receptionists looked at me when I entered. One of the ladies said she would be right with me. That was the extent of the interaction. Smiles really do make a difference.

2021-11-24I relocated to a new state with no where to go. Hops, my green cheek conure can be a little grumpy. We’ve been here twice now and Hops feels right at home. The care that Hops receives is truly appreciated. I called other locations and no one would see him. He needs to be groomed. Thank you for stepping out of the box!Next step is to schedule Mr. Darcy, my Maltese. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Best animal hospital!

2022-02-02For anyone who may be looking for a new veterinarian, Id just like to mention to the neighborhood how much I appreciate the care and service I have gotten from Dr. Stephanie Hartsfield and Dr. Claire Surber at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital. One of our daughters works there, so we started taking our cat there when she began to have some health problems. I cannot express enough how much care and concern both of these lovely Dr.s have had for our cat and the treatment of her unusual condition. They are just wonderful human beings and will give your pet only the best of care!

2022-01-27I recently adopted a rescue dog and was in need of a veterinarian. I heard from so many people to go to Coal Mountain Animal Hospital. I am so glad I took the advice. Everyone at the clinic was so nice - welcoming - friendly and knowledgeable! I never felt rushed and they answered all my questions.

2022-05-11This practice is wonderful. They always get us in same day or next. They communicate well. Do not rush you. Very fair prices. And most importantly always go above and beyond to take care of my fur babies!

2021-12-24These vets are amazing! Like the other reviews said, everyone was extremely nice and friendly to both me and my puppy, and they went above and beyond to make sure this was a stress-free visit for the pup. They even called later to check in how he was doing - the care is just outstanding!

2022-04-11All of the staff was so caring and professional with my senior dog. This is not our normal Vet but the location was close to home and they were quick to set an appointment on a busy day. This was our first visit but definitely not the last.

2022-06-24Coal Mountain has been our vet for 10 years. We board our 3 dogs there everytime we travel and feel very self assured they are well taken care of. Highly recommend.
