These guys are pros top to bottom. I spoke with Andy the owner and he answered all my questions and talked to me like we had been friends for years. We booked a half day private wade with our guide Garner who not only put us on the fish but spent the time with my daughter actually teaching her how to fly fish. Garner actually cancelled our second day that was a float fishing trip which we were bummed about initially. However I found it really refreshing that instead of just taking our money on a river that was blown out from rain he told us the truth.Cant say enough good stuff about these guys. Just call them and go. You wont be disappointed!
What a wonderful experience. Our three guides were Cole, Austin, and Jacob. Each were passionate about their profession and each were wonderful and patient teachers too. We had six beginners and did an outside class first where we were taught about flies, nymphs, and streamers. Taught how to tie tippet to a leader. Taught a knot to tie on the bait chosen, single and double presentations. Practiced different types of casting techniques needed. Then we split up into groups of two with each group having a guide that took us to different parts of the river that showed us what to look for in the water as we waded in a fished until it was dark. Working on our casting, mending, and presentation while trying to catch trout. I cant emphasize enough how great each guide was and how much we all enjoyed the experience. The equipment, waders, and boots were of course top notch. Thanks Cole, Austin, and Jacob! I will definitely be calling again! They even stayed longer than they were required because these gentlemen truly want to share their love of fly fishing and let the group get experience and confidence. First class all around.
My wife and I fished with Garner Reid on the Etowah River on 8/19/20 . . . what a fantastic trip!!! Beautiful day on a cool river with a fantastic guide. It turned out better than expected! We caught some really nice spotted bass and are already booked to go back in May when the striped bass are running.Cant say enough good things about Andy and Jacob at Cohutta Fishing Co in Blue Ridge. I spoke with Jacob by phone several weeks before traveling into the area. He is very knowledgeable about the various options and matched us up perfectly with what we wanted to do. Once we got to Blue Ridge, we spent some time with Andy and Jacob in their awesome shop. These guys are total professionals and fun and interesting to be around. Plus, they are great at what they do!!!Highly recommended!!
Stopped in earlier this week getting ready to fish a little more on Fightingtown Creek. The guy that helped me was a guide, very friendly, and knowledgeable. I know enough to throw a fly, but not which fly. He talked me through a few patterns that are good on the stream I had access to (Fightingtown Creek), including some hatch patterns, one of which produced a giant brown. I felt like he gave me good advice, laid out a few patterns that resulted in hits or lands, and generally wanted to help me have a good time. I’ve floated a number of trips in N Tenn, and would definitely float a trip with these guys if I go back to S Tenn, based solely on that fly shop experience. From my experience fishing with guides, having someone that helps you learn is so important. A casual fisherman will never take the job of a guide, so a guide that shares info and helps you learn so you can fish occasionally on your own is a jackpot. My husband gave me a birthday fly fishing trip this year. We finally got it booked this weekend! We can’t wait to go back! Cole was awesome! He was so patient with us and gave us great instructions! Cohutta Fishing is a first class operation! We are just back from a half day guided trip on some of their private waters. Beautiful location! Quiet and peaceful. Drew was our guide and even though you can tell he is a real expert in the field who put us on so many fish, he was also extremely patient with teaching two beginners how to fly cast. I highly recommend him. Everything about our experience was top notch. Andy, the owner, is very knowledgeable and friendly. Everybody in the store is all about customer service. Jacob, the manager, was very helpful in answering our many questions. This will be the first of many trips to Cohutta for me and my family.
YES YES YES! Down to earth super knowledgeable staff. If you’re looking for big quality fish during a fly fishing guided trip- go here. Matt was my guide and I had an amazing, once in a lifetime, trip. Did afternoon guided trip and it was a hell of a time. They had all my gear for me and I didn’t have to do anything but show up. I’m used to fishing in the Everglades, off shore, in shore, and back country salt water and this was so chill and so much more enjoyable.Do it. You won’t regret it.
My son and I had an amazing trip fly fishing with Garner Reed out of the Blue Ridge Ga shop, even though the conditions were far from perfect, higher than normal water moving fast, we had a successful trip! We caught several beautiful Rainbows. Garner was knowledgeable about the area, which flies were best as well as most promising location to fish. Garner was professional, fun and a great cook!! He shared his knowledge and I learned quite a few interesting facts as well as improving my own personal skillsI highly recommend all of the staff at Cohutta Fishing Company! To some of the best trout fishing, with Cohutta fishing company Blue Ridge Georgia. The fly shop in town has everything you need for your own adventures. Or take a guided trip in private waters, and all the gear is supplied for you. The party I was with had a great time with two of the most wonderful guides Garner and Drew; thank you for the time of our lives. I highly recommend the Cohutta fishing company to guide you to some great fishing.
I have had enough with these guides thinking they own the river. I’ve had them drop anchor within 10 yards of me 3 times in the past year. No respect for others wading when they are in a boat and can get into many more holes than people wading. Next time there will be redemption
If you want to feel welcomed in a fly shop and on a guide trip, Cohutta is for you! We had an incredible guide experience with Cole. My wife was a beginner and he was incredibly patient with her. Not to mention she caught the biggest brown trout of the day!
Had a great time on the Flint with Jason Davis. He was very knowledgeable of the river, and was able to put me on some nice fish! I will definitely being going on another trip with Jason.
I booked a half-day fly fishing trip for me, a friend and our sons. Our guides were Matt and Austin. They taught us the basics, were very patient and made it a great experience for us. We are already planning a second trip for the fall!
Garner and Drew, our guides for the day were the best I’ve ever had! Both were personable, knowledgeable and had very helpful. The water and fish were nothing short of magnificent. Cohutta is a first class operation including their fly shop in Blue Ridge....and that comes from someone who is in the business.
I took my daughters fly fishing for the first time with Cohutta Fishing. Matt was an outstanding guide and teacher. The day was amazing, everyone had a great time and caught Rainbows. We are all looking forward to joining them again.
Cohutta Fishing Company is absolutely the best. These guys know fishing and more importantly they know how to make you feel more confident about your fishing game. They are willing to help you out with ALL aspects including gear and fly selection and are super knowledgeable about the surrounding waters. I have been in many fly shops around the country and these gents know how to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend checking them out.

Great day today fishing with Garner from Cohutta Fishing Company. They are friendly, attentive, and very helpful...but it doesn’t hurt having access to slab like trout. I can’t wait to fish with Garner again in December when I come back to town.
A fantastic fly shop. The team are very knowledgable on gear but also have great insight on the local fishery. If you ever find yourself in Blue Ridge and need suggestions and supplies to chase some fish or if you are just starting out and not sure where to begin talk to the guys at Cohutta.
I like to think of this place as my clubhouse. Always a welcoming, cool vibe coupled unsurpassed local knowledge of all things fishy. Fly fishing can be intimidating to the uninitiated and the Cohutta Fishing Co. boys know that. Ill always appreciate the way they treated me when I first walked through the door. The selection inside is not just fishing gear though! If youre not interested in whats biting on what or the latest T&T rods, but looking for a great selection of outdoor clothing and supplies (Yeti, Patagonia, Kuhl just to name a few) they got you covered - literally! Truly one of my favorite places to hang out and learn whats going on in Blue Ridge, you need to check this place out.
The full staff at Cohutta has always been top-notch in every regard in the years I have been visiting. Sorry to see the Cartersville location close, but we will surely be regulars at the new Downtown Blue Ridge location! Shout out to Matt for hooking us up with a phone order and shipping out same day!
The Blue Ridge shop is a nice complement to the Cartersville store. Andy and his staff are the most knowledgeable, friendly and helpful customer service personnel of any store I have visited. If you are in North Georgia, I recommend visiting either one of the Cohutta Flyfishing stores.

Can’t say enough about Andy Bowen and his expert staff. Our guide, Andrew, taught the boys how to fly fish properly and put us on fish. Fish ranged from 19”-22”....not including the ones that got away. Highly recommend!

Andy and the boys have done a marvelous job with the new shop. They have high quality products from boots and waders to gear to clothing to rods and reels. Andy is also making an effort to sell products from local artisans.
I had an incredible day fishing with them! Got a 20” bow and several 16”+!!! They put me on some great fish and has an amazing day. Highly recommend.

I love this shop and the folks working here. I stopped in with my dad to help him get his old rod and reel checked before trying to catch some trout in the area. They did a great job with the advice and equipment replacement he needed.

Fantastic flyshop nestled right in downtown Blueridge. Incredible shop staff and guide service for the Toccoa and other North Georgia streams. One of my favorite small town shops.
As I come from a world of bass fishing I walked in the store and meet Jacob the store Manger was very helpful and knowledgeable he set me up on a trip with Cole and man let me tell you what it was a blast this is the only fly company I would ever deal with great team and awesome staff great job guy

2022-02-27Matthew helped us out today with choosing some flies for the area. We discussed other locations and best time to fish. I loved how open the store is and all the equiment available. Didnt find any female merch but he said if i needed anything they could order it for me.

2022-03-29I had a great trip with Monroe, I took lessons from Monroe last fall and finally got a guided trip to a beautiful stream. I caught my first trout and a couple more. It was a great day and Monroe is a great guide and instructor. Can not wait to go again.

2020-11-26Had an absolutely fantastic guided fishing experience! I’ve been on many guided fly fishing trips but this one was by far the best. We had 5 people on the trip with 3 very new / first time anglers. The guides were very patient and trained our new anglers with basic fly casts that proved very productive. Everyone on our trip had a fantastic time! Personally, I caught the largest trout of my life, and I’ve been trout fishing for over 40 years! Thank you Cohutta Fishing Company, Cole and Austin!

2021-10-16Had an awesome trip with Jason Davis on the flint. We had to reschedule due to weather and blown out conditions, but he does it for the client to have the best conditions. He knows his stuff and will get you on some nice fish and coach you on where to target. Very knowledgeable guy when it comes to that specific fishery as well as others.

2021-05-21Absolutely outstanding. If you live in the Southeastern US and you want to learn how to fly fish, Cohutta is an excellent choice. We did the two-day option with the first day consisting of instruction. Matt, our guide, was extremely patient and was a great instructor. On day two, Matt put us on the trout and we wore ‘em out all day. Highly recommend these guys!!!

2021-09-28Austin and Jacob were great guys and passionate about fishing! I’m always a little hesitant about fly fishing shops because so many are kind of stuck up. Not this place! They were extremely helpful in expanding my knowledge on fly rods. Keep it up guys!

2020-10-30I booked a half day wading trip for my husbands birthday last weekend and we had the best day! We were hoping that fly fishing will be the thing that we can do together in the future and Cohutta got me hooked! Cole was our guide and he was top-notch. Im a beginner and he had so much patience with me throughout the day. That patience paid off with a big brown right at the end of the day. My husband had an amazing day catching rainbows and getting to learn more about fly fishing. Everyone at the shop is so nice and knowledgeable too. We will certainly book with Cohutta again and again!
