Cook Out in other cities:
Love the amount of food I get here for the money. Their milkshakes are amazing. The staff was great. The speed of service was good. The food was hot & delicious. I love taking my kids to cook out. We can mix & match & build our own trays as opposed to other fast food restaurants where your side choices are limited. Great experience once again. No matter which location Ive gone to in the past, I am always pleased.
The food and service was excellent. I was lost in the sauce from the moment I tore open the foil wrapping until I shakily realized that my escape from reality, the meal, was devoured. Best of all was the manager, Isaac. He was so polite and helpful. He genuinely made my day better. I used to have no faith in humanity, feeling we were doomed to destroy each other. Isaac changed my mind. I feel good that my future children can live in a world with people like Isaac.Lots of love and gratitude,The guy who doesnt want onions
Ive been here the last 2 Mondays and have had order issues each time. Food was prepared well, so 5 stars for that. Zero stars for their service. Two weeks ago I didnt receive what I had ordered. Today I was informed the lobby was closed and they forgot to lock it, after I had entered. Also was told they are only taking cash payments at this time. How about putting a sign on the lobby door indicating this? Too much trouble, I guess. It seems this place is going downhill from what it used to be. I will not be returning to this franchise location anytime soon.
I had never been there before and it was very late at night and there were a lot of cars behind behind me but the employee was very patient and kind and waited for me to make my selection. Even though they were very busy, they were very personable and friendly...also awesome burger.
Food was burnt, chicken wasn’t fried it was baked and the “Cajun” sauce it absolutely terrible, fries weren’t fresh at ALL tasted like they were made several hours before and time before that some ghetto unprofessional workers was talking about customers while at the window, place needs to be shut down or staff needs to be replaced, won’t recommend this place, I’ll actually convince others to spend there hard earned money elsewhere
Decent food for not much money. Is it a five star restaurant quality diner? No, but then you dont go to a Chevy dealer to buy a Mercedes Benz. Not usually, bad analogy, okay. But you get my point. I like Cook Out. They have just the basics and some choices and they are great for people on a budget that want to eat out. This location was closed to walk-ins (its April 2021 tail end of pandemic, we hope) so I used the drive thru and the lady at the window was very kind and helpful and even made my milkshake right then and there cause I forgot to order one at the screen. Helpful, courteous, kind, willing to go above and beyond. Great place for some inexpensive food. Also, just as a note, the coleslaw was a bit on the dry side, which I fixed with one mayonnaise packet. Then...it was much better.
Waited 25 min I was alone in line with four passengers, They were yelling out the drive though window and delivering stuff to parked cars that was in a waded up paper bag this is out of hand I guess nobody manages this store I won’t bring my kids here again zero stars
Literally a waste of time to come here at night they just throw together anything and give it to you. Ordered two speciality burgers and they both literally had nothing on them just nasty lettuce no sauce nothing. Theyll just throw anything in the bag and give it to you at night just to get you out of the line cause they know you wont come back in that line. Waste of time dont come here. If you do just order chicken tenders and pray they dont mess those up too but Im sure theyll find some way to. If you dont like your job, quit, dont take it out on customers.
Ive only been here twice. Its mediocre. The best part about it are the side options and the variety. They have hamburgers, hotdogs, and bbq. There arent that many places where you have those choices.I have gotten burgers both times. They are slightly over cooked and a little dry.
Threw up in my passenger side and my girlfriend had to drive, it was simple and easy enough for her to handle while I was blackout so thank GOD for that. Never disappointed at this location besides the line but Patience is love baby so you gotta put in work. Keep up great work everyone, I WILL ALWAYS be back. ✌️
They got one of our trays and one of the drinks wrong . Workers were very nice and professional and fixed both with no problem . My one and only complaint is that I had to go back in the drive thru to get them fixed because for some reason the dining area and inside counter is still not open even though you can go to Red Lobster and other restaurants and sit down for a meal
Here in Athens with my fiancé . He’s working here this week so we decided to grab a burger because many years ago we both loved the cookout. Let me put emphasis on the word loved. Order two burgers and one milkshake. His burger was a regular burger with cheese mustard ketchup pickles onions lettuce and tomato. My burger was cookout style with mustard onions chili slaw. Could not leave without a pineapple milkshake.Placed my order at 7:54 it was ready at 8 o’clock. The burger was pre-cooked and over cooked slightly burned. It was absolutely disgusting. You can tell that the folks working there take no pride in their job and servicing people. The milkshake had ice chips in it. Will never ever ever eat there again.
We normally love cook out. My family and I use to go there when we lived in VA. This was our first time at this Cook out and it will be our last. We went through the drive through. One of the staff members used offensive language while we were paying. They took our order, repeated it back to us correctly but when we got our food home two of the four meals were completely wrong. The fries were old and soggy and two of our cheeseburgers with everything on them had nothing but a plan hamburger patty and a bun. We tried to call the restaurant to complain but the phone rang and rang. Such a disappointing experience. Id give no stars but I dont have that option. The milkshakes were still good.😔 do better Cook Out..
Consistently high quality food. Although on my latest visit it seems the service quality is not a priority. It was not busy (Sunday night after dinner rush, nobody behind or in front of me) did not receive a straw, receipt, or any napkins. After handed my bag wasnt asked if I needed anything else or told have a good night. But food was fresh.
Walked into their unlocked dining room to see if they were open for dine in, they told us dine in was closed, which is completely fine, we told them they should probably lock the door then. So people don’t get confused. Literally just ordered a burger from them in the drive thru, and one of the employees took an obvious bite out of the sandwich. Disgusting. It happened at 12:30 today, who is cooking or assembling should be fired 100%.
*This review is five star relative to the Cook Out franchise and its other locations.Really nice location. Very clean. They have a hand washing sink right next to the order counter, and that is what earned this place five stars. I like that a lot.Food was good. Standard cookout.Weird parking, but lot of it. Decent size seating space, but really badly engineered so it doesnt offer maximum seating.
I always get a chicken strip tray as the main part. For the price, the quality is great for a fast food restaurant. Their shakes are my favorite from any place this far. By far beats steak and shake, Freddys, Wendys frosties and others Ive had. This particular Cook Out is good and I recommend going. Nice location, friendly people and speedy in giving you your orders.
I moved out to GA to WY in August 2018. The tray prices were $4.99. Great value for what you got, delicious food. I come back, first day of 2020 and we start with this. Prices raised for $5.25, eh no big deal. Until I opened my big double burger. Like, what is this I’m looking at? Why is the tomato so much larger than the meat? Why is the meat oval? Both patties make up one tomato. Already called Cook Out HQ about this. Very disappointed that I’m paying 26 cents more for tiny oval burgers. Won’t be back next time I come back to GA.
Go to the one on the other side of town instead. We had 3 separate orders so we *thought* it would be easier to go to the walk up window where we were told its closed and to use the drive through, so we did. Started off the order by stating we have 3 separate orders (weve all worked in food service before so we always try to be mindful) the girl said okay whats the first one and then proceeded to say the total for the first one is 14 something. Then someone else took over the order taking and kept interrupting, so we just kept repeating. When each of us ordered we said okay so for the second order... and for the last order.... pulled up to the window, gave her the card for the first order and then she said its 31 something so we said oh wait that was supposed to be 3 separate orders. The girl at the window straight up lied to our faces and said we never once said anything about multiple orders and we told her we said that multiple times yes we have separate orders. We tried really hard to explain to her and she just kept staring at us like were stupid and it was really frustrating. She brought who I assume to be the manger, he said we need to tell them first thing if its separate to which we reexplained that we did, but unfortunately we didnt realize we had to record what we say in order to give proof of us saying we had more than one order. Charnequah is the name on the receipt but I dont know if that was the same girl who was rude and lied. 🤷♀️
Went through here on a whim on the way home from Lexington and I was stunned at the prices and wasnt expecting much. I was wrong. Their menu is huge and so is the milkshake menu. Like others have said, their burgers taste like burgers you thew on the grill, which I loved. Their corn dogs are pretty darn good too. After reading some of the reviews, I need to come back and try the BBQ and quesedillas. What I love about it is that instead of my family if five arguing about where to go becuase everyone wants something different, this place had something that will satisfy everyone. Cheesecake milkshake... Try it!
They do not care about childern or the community. The do not show any signs of human decency. We have 2 small kids and were going to do business with them but refused us the ability to use the bathroom stating they did not care they were closed inside but they have the door unlocked. I suggest boycotting them tI phase out these types of businesses. We are a community and need to act like it. Show a little heart for our future.
Food is good, service is always provided with a smile, and the serving sizes are hearty for the price! You cant get a deal better than this in most fear food joints, let alone for less than $6. Usually you get small portions, but Cook Out gives you good portions, so dont leave hungry!
Great experience. 1st time at this location. Cashier was very nice, took up time with my granddaughter, great customer service. Inside was clean, nice and cool on a hot day.Thank you Food was very good and hot. Reg. Burger was thick and juicy, ask to add Cajun seasoning on it. Yum.
This was, by far, the best Cook Out experience we have ever had. For fast, inexpensive food, I would be hard pressed to find anything better & this particular location tops all the others Ive been to. The chocolate shakes were actually chocolatey & the staff were friendly & professional.
Went for a milk shake tonight. Not crowded only two cars in line and one in parking lot. We brought them home to enjoy after Memorial Day dinner but when we drank them they were not very good. They we not blended well and they was not very much flavour in them. Hubs had pineapple but it tasted like vanilla with only one slurp of pineapple and the other was chocolate malt but that was very sporadic in spots of chocolate flavour. Very disappointing
Cook Out is a very popular restuarant in the Athens area and there always seem to be a line of cars wrapped around the parking lot. The food is very good and basic for people who enjoys burgers, chicken tenders, wraps etc. The milkshakes are good, but they are thick so if thats your style have fun.
I went here twice SATURDAY & SUNDAY for lunch. I went through the drive-through I had to wait 15mins to even be asked what was my order. There were only 3 cars in the drive-through...mine being one of them. BUT CHARNEQUAH RANG ME UP BOTH DAYS! SHE IS VERY RUDE! WHEN I GOT MY FOOD IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNED THROUGH THE Styrofoam and I have it on my food now..Styrofoam...I will never come back here..one day ok..but both days come on...Bad Business!
Good place to go for quick and good food. Affordable menu with dozens of different combo options. Clean and spacious restaurant.Update: Stopped here a couple of weeks ago since moving out of town and the customer service needs work. Food was luke warm and I had to go back because they left items out.
We was ordering combos for a truck load of ppl. We ordered part of the order. The girl said anything else, my son said yes. She never came back to speaker. We had to drive up to window to finish our order. The girl at the he window was ok nice enough, but trying to be to fast to get our order. Plus our order wasnt correct that we ordered to begin with. Slow down and get orders not just correct, but complete.
The place was slammed, but it seemed to take far longer than it should to get an order to go. To be fair, a large party (9 - 10?) was waiting for their order when I arrived. But they were already complaining about the length of time they had waited. As I waited, I observed one poor individual have to go back to the counter three or four times because his order was incorrect. He spoke with the manager at least twice.Approximately 20 minutes into my wait the first large party got its food.Several friends who were sitting together - they trickled in in twos and threes - ordered just before me. They finally got all of their food orders just as I got mine. The young man behind the counter apologized for the wait. That was nice. And earned this review its third star.I had fairly low expectations of the food I received. Still, I was disappointed when I unpacked my order a less than 10 minutes later. My float was mostly melted. And those things usually take forever to reach that point. I assume that it was made right after my order was placed and sat for 20 minutes while the rest of the order was being made. The fries were luke warm. The burger was poorly wrapped in foil. The foil was torn and the burger no very hot as a result. The meat was also not very good, a bit like a slightly charred hockey puck. I took this as an indication of how much stress the cook was under. To sum things up, the experience was not awful. I dont allow myself to eat fast food very often, I doubt I will ever go back. The Cook Out on the west side is much more efficient and the food is consistent.
Cookout has a nice dining area, quick service, good food, and unbeatable prices! We fed a family of four for under $20. The only negative thing I have to say about the place is that it is always freezing cold inside, and the workers claim that they have no control over the air temperature because thats corporates doing. They need to put the customers first and figure that out. It was not just me, many other dine-in customers were also freezing cold the three times I have been there.
Went around 10:15 PM on a Wednesday nite. Very rowdy - filled with college aged patrons. Nice overall, but very noisy and busy (the drive-thru line went beyond the actual parking lot). The Cajun fries were (3/5), I asked for chicken tenders and received nuggets instead (1/5). I love their blueberry milkshake (4/5). $
Yall could increase sales if ticket times were faster late at night. I see people pulling out and driving down to Steak and Shake or McDonalds instead of waiting in the drive thru. I know it isnt like this during dinner or lunch. The customer service is fantastic any hour youre open though, and the food is always on par.
My family loves cook-out and we have eaten at several different locations. This one is like an anomaly. The service was bad. It took forever to get our food. When I finally approached the counter again I found that my food had been sitting on the back counter for what mustve been several minutes. We were there in the late afternoon and were the only customers in the store. Basically, we were outnumbered by employees and it still took forever to get the food. Sweet tea was out when we got there and was still out when we left.
A good place to have a late night meal or just a quick meal in general. It hits the spot because it tastes pretty good although I wouldnt say the best, but that doesnt mean it isnt good, especially when youre hungry and the value you get out of eating here is pretty incredible.
Been to this location 3 times in the past week and had problems every time. Ordered a big double burger with everything on it,got a big double with just meat and cheese. Ordered a big double tray with a bacon wrap and quesadilla for sides, got just the burger and no sides. Asked for condiments in the drive through for 3 trays, got 1 pack of ketchup,1 pack of mustard, and 1 pack of mayo. Ive worked in food retail a fair bit,and its really not that hard to get an order right, especially when the customer spends 20+ minutes sitting in line. With this being said, ill be going to the epps bridge location from now on.
The food was not that bad. I was really excited because tbe price was extremely low likee 5or 6 bucks for a combo. And you can get nuggets and quesadillas as a side. I was so happy cause i was thinking i dont have ti get seconds. So j ordered a burger and a side of nuggets and onions rings. I was very disapointed by the portion. 3 nuggets and 3 onion rings. Overall its not a bad deal but when you see the menu u might get excited then when u get the meal u would be very sad. The workers there were a bit rude or moody. Overall a decent place to grab a quick bite toe at.
Experience was good as usual.Problem is they went a changed the recipe on some of their menu items. Why screw up the BBQ pork sandwich. If I wanted BBQ sauce spilling out of the bun I would have added it myself.Hate to say but you ruined my one thing I enjoyed above all else there. Will not be back.
I thought surely the many negative reviews couldn’t represent the average experience here. Unfortunately, the positive reviews must be either from a time when the location was managed differently or run by a different crew. The negative reviews absolutely represent the current state of this particular establishment. Normally, we love cookout. We have one at home that we enjoy almost weekly. We were traveling through Athens and stopped in for a late dinner, at around 11pm. This is never too late for good service at our usual cookout, but this one simply could not manage to get orders out. They also didn’t seem to be at all concerned with the quality of the customer experience they were providing. During the time we sat waiting in the drive-thru, we watched one car wait at least 10 minutes to be greeted at the ordering speaker, and another waited almost 15 at the pickup window for their food. If the snails pace of food delivery wasn’t enough to sour us on the place, the food that finally arrived sure did. In one tray, there were quite literally only four onion rings, surely the portion size is supposed to be greater than that. The quesadillas in another appeared to have been run over by a steamroller. A burger had so much crunchy grill scrapings on it it was deemed inedible. Apparently the grill was in desperate need of being cleaned. Another issue for us, and one I noticed in other reviews was the failure to get the milkshakes right. They were quite lacking in flavor and were poorly blended. I was not only truly surprised and disappointed in the whole experience, I was blown away by the sheer apathy with which this store seems to be run. This is truly a case where a total overhaul is needed. Cookout Corporate, take notice, and action! The cookie cutter reply you’ve sent to previous customer complaints won’t fix this restaurant.
I have never been to a Cook Out before, so tried this one in Athens with my wife yesterday around 3pm to see what this food franchise was like. Looks like it will be my last visit to a Cook Out. We waited 25 minutes for our food (I even checked the website while I was waiting to see if they used the term fast in their marketing...and they do). Another couple waiting ahead of us said it took over 30 minutes for their food. The place was filthy - trash strewn across majority of the tables, very noticeable amount of trash on the floor in multiple locations (including near the ordering counter), and the wastebasket was over flowing. During the 50 minutes we were in the facility, no one ever came out to tidy up or wipe down any tables. I took multiple photos of the inside to document...not sure sending them to corporate will help. This was at 3pm so I cant imagine what dinner time would be like in this place. I guess the saying, you dont get a second chance to make a first impression really rings true with our disappointing visit.
This cookout has always had terrible service! Ive been at least 10 times and I really only come for the food because you can partially ignore the consistent attitude you receive.Update: Ive been to this cookout more recently and the service has tremendously improved. Th
I have been to this cookout for years. What has happened within the last year or two? Is there a fry shortage? These have also been sitting and refried it looks like. When I tell them the for the sauce with the nuggets, is that just for me because I never get it put in the box anymore. Please look into quality control for dinner.
I always get a milkshake with Cajun fries. Im vegetarian and if I want food, I get a cheese quesadilla. I come here when Im having a bad day and it cheers me up, or I come on a good day to celebrate! This place is great for their variety of milkshakes and some great fast food any time on any day!
Great prices, bland food, and serving of onion rings was a count of 4.*Update: spoke with a young lady at the number provided and was thanked for my feedback and informed that an order consisted of 4 onion rings with platter orders. Reducing my rating for continued waste of time with the call I was asked to make for the opportunity to better my experience and flippant dismissal. Reaching out made the experience worse!!
Came to the walk up window waited for 10 minutes no one came to the window so I proceeded to walk to the drive thru, the lady wouldnt take my order she stated no one was working by the walk up window which was totally a lie I have ordered there before. I called corporate just for them to do their job. They took my order forgot the rest of it I had to wait another 10 minutes to get the rest of my order. Customer service is horrible I will not be back!
Simple order, burger, with cheese and some other stuff, chicken ranch wrap and fries. No cheese on the burger and got double fries instead. Not worth driving back to fix and this type of shot happens all the time at this location. I usually let it slide but I’m so sick of it.
I get floats at Cookout pretty often, and every other location that Ive been to will let you get a Fanta Orange float. I guess they just sub it out for the coke. But not this location! We also waited 20 minutes (3 cars were ahead of us) in the drive thru to be told that. Well just continue to go to our usual location on Epps Bridge.
0 if i could! I went during my lunch hour and drive through was long which i didnt mind waiting. When i finally got my food my chicken sandwich was horrific. Burned to a crisp! Not edible at all. My corndog was chalk hard. Couldnt bite into it because it was also burned. My fries were burned as well. Im not picky at all but this was not edible. On top of that i asked for a coke and i got a diet coke. That was the cherry on top. So upset. I go here all the time but this is bs.
A staple fast food place in Athens. I always get the tray as it gives the best bang for your buck. Its open late too and I find myself doing more late night cookout runs than I care to admit. If you want a quick and cheap place to eat then cookout is the perfect choice
Don’t bother eating at this Cook Out! I stopped by at 2:00pm to eat lunch. No one was in line, or waiting on food. I waited 30 min for my food! They were out of tea, and when I got my Cook Out tray I had my Burger, Chicken wrap, and “3” French fries! Save yourself the headache, and drive the extra 3 miles to the Epps Brodge location.
This is quite possibly the worst cookout I have been to. Employees were seen changing in the restaurant, and taking off their shoes to fix their socks before they went into the kitchen area. Hopefully they washed their hands before serving food. Also employees were seen slacking off in the back area, FaceTiming and such and socializing outside. When we approached the server, she showed blatant attitude and just wanted to get off work and not service us. This is a cookout that is farther into the worst area, so the other Cook-Out in Athens near the tire place is highly recommend.
I blame myself for continuously coming even after they mess my order up over and over again. To begin with they dont even have a store phone number so you cant call and say they missed or messed something up on your order. Ive called corporate a good handful of times and it seems as though they only send out free orders bt that does not make up for the horrible service. Please do better
Cashier was friendly and polite. Ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich and the chicken was dried out and shriveled up. Also ordered a Butterfinger milkshake and the Butterfinger mixings were plopped in the bottom. They barely mixed, which made for a hard time drinking the shake.
I was the first customer today and got some tude from the employee taking my order when I asked about my order that she gotgincorrect... I got a quesadilla combo and the chicken is almost non-existent... Very dissappointed in my cheese quesadillas that barelybarel chicken crumbs in them... If you want any a decent meal, go elsewhere.
Greasy soggy fries, barely cooked onion rings that taste like they were made in old grease. I usually chose cookout over Mcds, streak&shake for great burger at a cheap price , but my double burger might as well been made at Burger King. The worse cookout in Georgia; go to the location on Epps Bridge its what cookout suspose to taste like.
Went here earlier and honestly I wasnt pleased. First off the customer service sucked at least they can act nice to customers . Second the trash was full and tables were nasty. Third one employee was just talking to his friends not even doing anything and even the manager was cursing. Wont be back
I have been to some of the cookouts around Atlanta and I always had my food within five minutes of ordering or less. I come out here to Athens and the tables are filthy the bathroom smells like piss and I waited more than 20 minutes and still no food I went to get a refund and theyre like oh heres your food just sitting back there I said f*** you give me my money back piece of s*** cookout the worst f****** cookout ever. Athens given cookout a bad name once you take a f****** bite out of that

2022-05-31This location is my preference of the two in Athens because the kitchen team at this one seems to be on point with the freshness every single time. The food is usually accurate but occasionally the burgers get messed up when were being picky and ask for things to be removed or added. The order taking is also usually fantastic here, it can be a little tedious when ordering a lot of food, but the cashiers seem to be on top of it most of the time. This is one of my top 3 places to stop at for lunch when Im driving around for work so I visit this place a lot and I always enjoy my food even if the accuracy isnt on par. More recently our orders have been coming out incorrectly more often, but still fresh and delicious.

2021-08-25Dine in closed. We order the combo meal which is a good deal for $5.99. But the burger is so small portion of meat. The shake is good for additional $1. Overall good not great and nice staff in drive thru.

2021-09-14Went last night through the drive thru. Got 2 trays. Both double burger trays with everything. Got home and one had nothing but 2 patties.. the other had everything including a bread tie which my girlfriend bit into.. Horrible thank God it wasnt a child or someone who could have damaged or choked on it

2021-12-17Paid for a burger, got a peice of small meat instead of a full patty. Missing ingredients and just sloppy assembly. Check your food before driving away

2022-03-31Very slow. Sat in drive through for 30 minutes. Burgers were not the old cookout. Were the flower shaped frozen patties. Fries where either drown in seasoning or none at all. Been 2 years since Ive been to a cookout. They used to be one of my favorite stops. Not any more.

2022-06-03Fast service. Hardly any wait time from moment of order to receiving my food. The food was really good better than expected. Just forgot my extra ketchup

2022-06-17Dont go past 12. They close tream always shuts it down and hides out in the back before the posted close time. If you go during daytime hours its hit or miss with the service, but at least you kind of get food. The last few times the cashier is just rude and the order is wrong. Right now were in the line, have been for 15 minutes, and the employees just stacked cups in front of the drive thru window and are hiding from us inside. Still 20 mins till close.

2022-04-19Best tray price Ive ever seen at a Cook Out before— about $6. Also, great chicken quesadillas and white cheddar poppers, as usual! My friends said their burgers couldve been better, but they liked their fries. 5 stars from me, especially since the drive-thru lady had to put up with me getting and reciting all three orders. She did so with much patience and kindness! (Whoever you were, I hope you see this and know Im sorry, lol.)

2022-02-05One of the most unbelievably slow drive thru lines I’ve ever experienced. Prepare to wait in line for an average of 20 minutes before you even get to order. The food is okay, there are constant mix-ups and mistakes with orders. I don’t blame the employees, I blame the awful management for allowing the place to operate like this. Genuinely, it’s not worth your time.

2022-04-07Went to the 2nd drive through lane he asked what I wanted after barley understanding what they say because they dont know how to talk through a walkie I told him the out west style burger tray and he never responded back I waited 5 mins finally had enough drove up to the window he said I dont got no order for you I told him I said what the order was and no one ever responded then he said well nobody was at the window????? He told me to drive back around and get in lane again cuz he cant take orders at the window??? What??? Its a drive thru??? Wont be going back they have been getting considerably worse and worse.
