Had some great tapas tonight! Service was attentive and all our dishes were delicious, balanced, and well portioned. The Arroz Caldoso was soooo good! The mushroom on sourdough was delicious - buttery with perfectly tart goat cheese. Octopus was cooked perfectly. Everything we ordered tonight was good and the weather on the patio was breezy and cool and would love to go again!!
IF I COULD REQUEST FOR PEYTON AT EVERY RESTAURANT, I SO WOULD.this is the best dining experience my fiancé and I have had in a really long time, if not ever, and it is all because of our server Payton. We came in to celebrate one year until we officially tie the knot, and Payton greeted us at the table with two glasses of champagne and congratulated us. We ordered about six different things from the tapas menu, just kind of guessing because we didn’t know really what anything was. Instead of just sending everything to the kitchen and letting us have a table full of beautiful new food, Payton strategically put in all of our orders to let us enjoy the plates a couple at a time. Not only did they come in such a perfect little trickle, but he put them in order to when theyre best enjoyed throughout the meal. (example, we ordered the pigs in a blanket that have a sweet apple sauce on them so he saved them for last as a little sweet treat, and brought all of the easy finger foods out first like appetizers.) Our waters never got below half full, and as soon as last sips were taken from the alcoholic beverages he was sure to ask if we needed one more. His knowledge of the menu was as if he made it himself and he was so kind and helpful in anything else we may have needed.BEST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. ASK FOR PEYTON!
I wish I wouldve captured pictures of the other plates that I had but I was having such a good time my phone just went out the window. From the time I walked in to the time I left out (the restaurant had actually closed but they allowed didnt kick us out) had no issues whatsoever at this restaurant.Every drink I had was mixed nice, sans the one with the lemon peel but the waitress (Ashley. She rocked) told me up front that this was a alcohol forward drink. I had 4 plates but the one that stood out most was the mushroom toast. If you dont get anything else please get the mushroom toast it is so good! I was very pleased with the octopus as well because most places that have it, overcook it.I will definitely return.
Really solid dining experience! Reserved online & they seated us immediately. The service was top notch all night, including some complimentary wine for the table (our first visit), and a birthday dessert for our birthday girl. They have lots of tables for parties of various sizes. The only cons: we were seated in the front room & it was super dark (people used phone lights to see menu) and the music made it tough to hear each other. The tapas came out very quickly, but the two mains (steak & fish) took a long time. The group agreed the tastiest things we had were the steak (filet) & the grilled cheese! Definitely recommend this spot.
I’ve been wanting to eat here ever since seeing them on Queer Eye, but finally got a chance last night. It was a Saturday night at a very crowded, popular restaurant, so we expected to wait at least 25 minutes to be seated. We waited 15 minutes max, and one of the managers gave us free croquettes for having to wait. They ended up being my favorite dish so far!Everything else we had was tasty and we barely had to wait for anything! They have a pretty hefty staff both in front and back of house, so despite nearly every table being occupied, my party and several others were in and out in MAYBE an hour.To sum up: delicious food, above and beyond service, and nice atmosphere with comfy seats.
Love the atmosphere, the food, the server I developed a crush on, everything was good except the fact that a reservation was made and we still had to wait like 20 minutes to get seated. Also first time I have eaten a fig, I thought they were a vegetable. Also be careful of driving around this area, almost died on the way here and my car was falling apart after leaving due to the holes on the streets.
Four of us came here last Sunday for a celebration and we couldnt have asked for a better experience. The restaurant had been busy throughout the day due to Mothers Day but our server paid us so much attention and was incredibly thoughtful throughout the dinner. We loved every single dish, but especially loved the bikini and mejillones. We ordered two of the latter and quite literally scooped up every last drop of the dish. The cocktails were also all delightful. The old-fashioned, in particular, was one of the tastiest Ive had. We will absolutely make this our first dinner destination once we all are back in town together.
We had an amazing experience this past weekend. From the moment we walked in the front door until the time we left we felt welcomed and appreciated. The food was a culinary treat of unique flavors. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I have already recommended Cooks & Soldiers to several of my friends.
This place is high ranking on my list of places to eat in Atlanta!! The ambiance!! The stellar service!!! And the food!!!!!!!!!!!! Delicious!!! These people care!! What a refreshing thing to experience!! Our server Richard was amazing and everyone is incredibly pleasant and extremely helpful not only towards patrons but with each other as well! Great energy and vibe, patio is amazing especially in early evening when there is a nice breeze! Please please please go try this place out! You won’t regret it! Thank you for a wonderful experience and I will be back!!!!!
This is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. I get to dine out quite a bit, but if I had to pick one favorite, this would be it. Shared plates, lots of variety, all delicious. Best dish on the menu is the Bikini - grilled cheese on white bread. I know, how can that be outrageous? It is. Like magic. Ive only done the tapas, but they are wonderful.
It was a busy Saturday night and we had to wait a few extra minutes for our reservation, but no biggie. The people at our table were taking a little longer to head out, but the staff were so nice to us. Their niceness was definitely disproportionately larger than the slight inconvenience of waiting for our table at the bar, haha. Delicious food, great service, and all around a great restaurant. P.S. - GET THE PORK CHEEK CROQUETTES!!!
My fiancé and I went to Cooks & Soldier’s tonight, and man were we blown away. As soon as we walked in, it was a very warm and welcoming environment the hostess took us to our seats, our server was Blair( he was phenomenal by the way) but before he could even get to us, one of his team members came over the explain the menu to us, right after that someone came and filled our glasses with water. This is not an average restaurant. The team cares about one another and it shows, the GM JoJo was out on the floor talking to customers and helping her employees out which is such a great sight to see. She even came over and spoke with use and gave use a nice welcome to the neighborhood, I could go on and on about how superb our experience was… really I could, that alone will bring us back to the restaurant but let me tell you the food! Phenomenal, everything we had was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The drinks were stunning I got a gin and tonic with elder flower in it and my taste buds went crazy. All in all if you live in ATL you need to check this place out, if you’re visiting ATL you need to check this place out! It’s an experience that you don’t want to miss! Thank you again Blair for your great service and thank you JoJo for the wonderful conversation!
This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had and I have had some great experiences. My group of Chefs and Food scientists all agreed the food was prepared well and we had great service. Our server knew the foods. She even was able to make a unique mock tail for me.
We had our small post-wedding intimate family dinner here at the semi-private chefs table, at the end of the bar area. Working with Lindsay ahead of time to plan our event and select our menus ahead was seamless. She was so sweet, responsive and accommodating. The day of, we got done about an hour earlier than expected with our ceremony and photos (we were about an hour away so made sure to leave extra time in case we needed for travel to the restaurant)-- we ended up showing up to the restaurant close to an hour early and popped in to see if we could be seated any earlier. Within minutes they were able to get our table and our toasts ready to start our celebration! The meal was incredible, as always. We were so excited to share one of our favorite restaurants with our closest family. The cocktails are always delicious (may oui is my go-to), and I personally told every family member that I would judge anyone who did not try a chistorra in a blanket. There was also plenty of food so we had leftovers and were not at all sad about continuing this lovely meal for another two nights! Fret not if you dont get to eat all your courses on an event menu. So glad we decided to host our dinner here!
This was our second visit to Cooks & Soldiers and we were just as pleased this time as the first. The food was exceptional. The chef has put together well-balanced selections with well-chosen, seasonal ingredients. The bartender made one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had (the C&S Old Fashioned). Our server was attentive, cordial, knowledgeable, and helpful. It’s impossible to make a bad selection but she made recommendations that helped make our dining experience even better. Cooks & Soldiers has, in just 2 visits, become our absolute favorite restaurant in the Atlanta area. Well done!
We recently celebrated our anniversary here, and Cooks & Soldiers didnt disappoint. From parking to service to the food itself, everything was exceptional. The tapas/small plates came out in the perfect cadence. It was never too much or too little. The wine menu was nice, and the Basque Cheesecake was a delightful ending.
Always always a 5 star experience at Cooks and Soldiers! This is hands down mine and my husbands favorite place to eat in the city. The only thing better than the food is the service. I have also never had a bad dish and never been led astray with a recommendation. This place is amazing and we always feel like we are home here!!
Weve heard the buzz but hadnt made the time to plan our first visit for some time. That was lost time on our part since we had a great meal. Short wait for our reservation time but were seated and able to get our wine quickly and start our meal. The small plates were the best way to go we felt, and they didnt disappoint. Pork cheek Croquetas, Bikini, and the smoked mushrooms were definitely among our favorites. (Assistant?) server Jo Jo was extremely attentive and went over, above, and beyond to make sure our meal was great and really helped propel our meal over the top with a cheerful attitude, great suggestions, and even leapt under the table to fix a small wobble. Just a great meal, and I hope were able to return again soon!
We went to Cooks and Soldiers for our anniversary and had a great experience. We had planned on having the fish - which they were sadly out of that night - but our waiter made some tapas suggestions that were absolutely fantastic. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
Based on the reviews, I believe we must have picked an off night. Either way, we will never go back. The service was TERRIBLE! The food was not that great. We got the charcuterie board, pigs in a blanket, tuna, and the bikini. The bikini was great, but everything else was bad. We did enjoy our drinks, but that’s about it. Luckily the manager took care of our drink orders, because the server certainly did not.In addition to the bad food and service, they could not cram more tables if they tried. If you are remotely claustrophobic, then his is definitely not the place for you.
This was such a positive experience, we will definitely go there again! The restaurant atmosphere is light & fun, the food is creative & delicious, the wait staff work like a close knit team, friendly & efficient. Deniesha was our waitress and she is awesome. She knows the food, so her recommendations are spot on. She is very conscientious, attentive and professional, also funny & seems to have fun at her job which makes the customer enjoy the experience and feel like her only table. Great place! Also, they pay for valet parking so you dont have to search for a place to park. The Castellucci Group does not disappoint! We will be back!
My friend and I tried this place out tonight and we both enjoyed it. The food all came out fast and the service was very friendly and he even brought us a wine sample to enjoy (I think he mightve thought we were on a date) but it was much appreciated! Definitely would be a great place for a date. We shared several dishes including the smash burger, bikini, and the fancy pigs in a blanket or whatever they were called. But our fav was definitely the dessert special which is pictured with the sugared cranberries. I thought everything was very good, would recommend if youre feeling fancy as it felt fancy there
The food is always delicious. We got 3 small plates, and the aged NY strip. I was told that they did not have my steak, and would have to pay 30 extra for the larger steak. It was delicious. The wine was good, and I like that they have a selection of craft gins. I would have have given 5 stars if I hadnt payed extra. Waiter and service was fantastic as well.
As a Spaniard, this place gave me a feel of home and also the pleasure of eating elevated pintxos (basque tapas). The atmosphere was great for a dinner date or a group outing. I only wish they had more Spanish beer options but I loved every single tapa we ordered. Will definitely come back again.
This place is fantastic! We love Iberian Pig in Decatur, so we were not surprised. Our server, Alex, who provided exceptional service, described the menu as like Iberian Pig, but with less Pig and she was right. Gin and Tonics are their specialty cocktail. My wife really enjoyed the Uncle Vals version that Alex suggested. We ordered exclusively from the Tapas menu. Our favorite was the Barbacoa, which I highly recommend if you eat meat, as it is braised beef short rib on yummy bread. It is very flavorful and is best if you eat it after some of the other dishes so it does not overpower them. We liked it so much we ordered a second helping! The halibut cheeks were delicious and cooked to a perfect texture. We had the seasonal salad with watermelon and watermelon radishes on arugula with a tasty vinaigrette. The artichokes were also excellent especially with just a taste of the ham they were topped with. You will want to save room for dessert. My wife doesnt usually like cheesecake, but she really enjoyed it Basque style. I am a chocolate guy myself, and the dark chocolate gelato/white chocolate mousse/espresso crumbles and strawberries did not disappoint. There is also a lighter choice that has orange and yogurt and tastes like a key lime pie with orange that was delicious (yes I had 2 desserts, dont judge). In the end, the bill was very reasonable. The service was great! The food came out really fast, so if you want to dine, space out your orders. All-in-all this was a great dining experience, and well be back again soon. Theres still a whole steak and fish section of the menu to try.
Oh my gosh! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Our server was Brandon; he did a great job. For Saturday date night we sat on the patio. Our drinks were amazing (we tried a Blind Tiger and a Smoke and Mirrors), as was the food. We had some small plates: patatas bravas (fried potatoes), chuleta de cordero (lamb chops), pulpo à la gallega (octopus) and crab txangurro. All sensational. We also shared the market fish with a side of smoked cauliflower. I must go back!
Okay food, some dishes are exceptional. Others way too acidic. Everything is acidic. And the shrimp dishes all have saffron, which i think is pungent. Service is beyond slow. Waiter spilled water on my wifes foot, forgot an order and was nowhere to be seen. Dont think well be back soon.
Food here is absolutely delicious. When I came here for the first time I was on a diet so we were restricted on what we could order but my girlfriend and I weren’t disappointed. I definitely need to come back when I’m done dieting. You can’t go wrong with any of their food. Their dessert was also so delicious
Great Restaurant with Good Food & Cocktails!Overall: went here for a date night after a fun day visiting breweries and it was an excellent choice! Cool and modern restaurant with a fun menu full of very unique tapas and a great wine and cocktail menu. Food was really good and its easy to over-order. Service is good and overall a great experience.Cocktails: got two cocktails while we waited for our table. I got the Blind Tiger which was gin, lime, maple syrup, and cava. B got Baptizing Esquilito drink with tequila, lime, and coconut orgeat. Good drinks with standard prices.Food: excellent. There are so many options to choose from that its difficult to decide. The portions are bigger than expected for tapas. The Iberico meatballs were our favorite. Tasty with a marinara and cream sauce. Our second favorite was a shrimp stew with greens and rice. Cod fritters were solid. We had Spanish sausages rolled in honey croissants. Also great. The Bikini grilled cheese with manchego, but not as thrilled as the reviews.Interior/Scene: dress code says smart casual, but a little more dressy then we realized, but it was fine. Chic interior with some rooms separated. Mix of industrial and rustic, which fits the theme and vibe of Cooks & Soldiers.Summary: excellent restaurant that lived up to the hype!!
We went on a Friday date night with my husband, we ordered NINE different tapas (pintxos) and our favorite was the Basque cheesecake dessert!! All the other pintxos nothing special, and an abusive use of smoked flavor was too much, gambas clearly not fresh. Also our table was near the entrance and every time a customer comes in to the restaurant a very cold air comes in also. Upscale is a big adjective for this place.
One of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta. We have been 5-6 times. Our most recent visit a few days ago was excellent as usual. We dined in early and had the place nearly all to ourselves. Service was first rate. Appetizers were all great, especially the green salad, gambas (shrimp), albondigas (meatballs), pulpo (octopus) and bikini (grilled cheese sandwich). We asked the somm for a dry sherry flight including Amontillado and it was very nice. It was a celebratory dinner and it was perfect. We are big fans of Mallorca and its food, and this is the closest we’ve come across in the ATL area.
Eh I’ll be honest… not really my favorite. But nothing was BAD at all. Taste is very subjective and I personally didn’t care for the flavors that much in a lot of the dishes we ordered. But the service, drinks, and ambiance was great! I’ll def come back for drinks and the potatas bravas bc let’s be real… those were the star of the show for me.
Stopped in a few weeks back and had a great time. Our server, Alex, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.LOVE that they have a gin & tonic menu. Tried several of them and they were all delicious! Most of the food was tasty, a great variety of options. Definitely try the pulpo, chiatorra in a blanket, and patatras murros. The only dish we didn’t enjoy was the grilled cauliflower. The desserts were also super tasty. Thanks to the staff for their recommendations!
INCREDIBLE! First time to this location. When you walk in, you have this very warm and elegant environment. This place has been put on the favorite list officially! Was here to celebrate a birthday and it was outstanding! The food was different, unique to taste, and presented beautifully! The service was exceptional! The dinning experience was very refreshing to this type of food! Was just an outstanding experience. Between the experience, the service, and the food; it was definitely worth every penny. Will be coming back soon!
Took my husband here for Fathers Day to top off the new patio lounge set he received as a gift... Hes in love with the food quality and so am I! He had three 1.5lb ribeye and I had filet mignon. The chefs have is blessed by God! Service at our table was excellent! And I love the history of the name! First time here and will not be our last! My husband is still reminiscing on his great day and great date!
These def were tasty w/flair...I had Bikini, Piquillo Relleno, Vieiras def check them out! The Pollo BASQUAISE halfed baked chicken was the least desired, it liked flavor. Be sure to do valet parking so hostess can validate your ticket ***they will not if u do self serve parking
Went here for our 5th wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. All the tapas we tried were memorable but some were outstanding. So many on the menu that we couldnt try them all, even though we tried. 2 of us could only squeeze in 10 dishes. Wish I had a second stomach. The cocktails were also mixed nicely. Not watered down and tasted top shelf. We will definitely go back for the big 1kg steak that we saw so many other tables order. Take a look at my pictures to see which were our favs.
I went out last night to a “new-to-me” restaurant called Cooks and Soldiers on 14th St. They serve gourmet tapas. I love tapas because you can try to many different items on the menu. I had potatas bravas (always delicious wherever I’ve had it), the bikini (the BEST grilled cheese you will EVER have), and the smoked mushrooms (OMG!). For dessert I had the lemon bar which was perfect - not too sweet with the right amount of tartness. I used to go to Eclipse di Luna for tapas all the time but I’ve found a new place that I like just as much. Their customer service was impeccable! It was a very busy night for them and we had reservations for two for the bar. I requested a table in the dining room because the bar area was congested and they made it happen with ease
Our server’s name Was Hailey and she was absolutely fantastic, tons of knowledge about the food & wine options. We had the bartenders make us a couple sexy boozy cocktails, tried about 10 dishes. Basque style tapas with a great wine selectionFavorites:- Rabbit on Toast- Ahi Tuna- Marcona almonds & olives- Braised VealNot my favorites:- mushrooms on toast- duck on toast
Not only is C & S one of our favorite date night restaurants in Atlanta, its also perfect for special gatherings. For my husbands birthday, I chose to do a Chefs Table dinner for a party of 7 (I believe it can accommodate up to 12). Kara Mitchell was helpful in making the arrangements & sending me the menu options. I went with the Grand Asador option which is served family style & excludes the upcharge for certain dishes. The actual table is located at the end of the bar area & offered the perfect ambience for our amazing meal. After laboring over all the choices I went with the: Charcuterie & Cheese board (included with the Grand Asador), 2 Tradicionales (rabbit porcheta & foie gras), 3 Especiales (scallops, octopus, veal cheek), 2 Asador (fish & ribeye), 2 Veg (crispy potatoes & carrots & eggplant), 2 desserts (cheesecake & chocolate squash tart). All of the choices were printed on a custom menu which was a nice touch (Ive also attached pics of our selections to this review). Both the service and the food were spectacular, I highly recommend the Chefs Table experience & the particular selections we enjoyed.
Do yourself a favor and get the Brocheta de Tocino, its the pork belly with plumbs. Wow! Awesome combination of flavors. Excellent meal amd service. We ordered the 3lb steak, which was good but not the best. If I had to do it again I would stixk with all the smaller plates, they were all amazing. Leave the steak for a fine steakhouse. The cheesecake is the lightest amd fluffiest cheesecake Ive ever tried. To light for my liking, but that an opinion. Definitely pass on the donuts. They were too rubbery.
Love this place. Never disappoints. Cool look and vibe. The tapas are delicious, the bar selection is expansive and the servers are very friendly and helpful. Also, if you are a steak lover and are hungry, get the Chuleton to share with another person. It is decadent.
One of my favorite restaurants. Most of the food is served as pintxos and tapas, meaning smaller portions so that you can try several plates. Ive recently been to Spain and the food here is as authentic Ive had. They even have txakoli here, a dry white wine from the Basque country in northeastern Spain which Ive never seen anywhere else in the US. Highly recommended!
Would highly recommend. The duck thigh was a must, such good flavor. I never would have tried the escargot fried rice had it not been for the amazing service that suggested it. So delicious. Also - get the grilled cheese (bikini) when you go. The best. Ive. Ever. Had.
Fresh off watching Anthony Bourdains San Sebastian episode, I jetsetted for the next best thing: Atlanta, and a visit to Cooks & Soldiers. Having now lived in Silicon Valley for two years (twas a Chicago resident prior), Ive practically misplaced all memory of the ubiquity of the trendy casual, three dollar bill, rowdy dining room, small plates sharing, beautiful people dining scene. Cooks & Soldiers was a nice reminder. Its a beautiful space with good food. With 8pm reservations, we chilled at the bar - hello, summery cocktails! - for a bit before getting the call to the big leagues. Seating was on the enclosed patio area, a nice offshoot area. Once ordered, food came promptly, a quicker than expected turn. No complaints here. I forget the first cocktail, but the house gin and tonic, a highlight of their drink menu, was good. Two favorites for me were the bikini and the house charcuterie. First, the latter. Its hard to go wrong with a housemade charcuterie plate, well, anywhere, but especially hard at a place that does jamon iberico. I couldve downed this whole plate by myself. Meanwhile, the bikini is essentially a glorified grilled cheese sandwich. But man, that jamon iberico...The hongos y setas pintxo toast appears to be a top-seller on Yelp, but upon further review, I found it unmemorable. We also had the pato ahumado, which was better, and not just because duck confit is another auto-rec similar to jamon iberico. Another favorite of mine, the pulpo, was also done well here.Overall, I keep scurrying back to a word from my first paragraph - ubiquity. Was Cooks & Soldiers good? Sure - it jumps the 4* star bar with ease. But with these types of places filling up Eater 38 lists all around the country, Im left looking for the cut above when it comes to the pure trendy casual restaurants, and Cooks & Soldiers left me wanting a little bit more - a trip to San Sebastian, for example.
Simply a superb experience. The decor, the ambiance, the staff, the food, simply everything was amazing. Yes, you will pay extra for that privilege, but it was undoubtedly worth it. Just remember that this is a tapas restaurant, so dont be surprised by small portions, thats the whole point. But you really cant go wrong with anything, so try to go with a group so you can try a little bit of everything!
First, the servers are the only reason its getting 2 stars. They did their best and tried accommodating for the lack of kitchen quality. They were generously tipped. I realize there were one or two new wait staff members learning the ropes... maybe why it took almost 10 mins to get a drink order in. Our table ordered an array of items from the menu. 10 at the least. Mostly appetizers. Since warned in advance entree would be a 45min wait. *note it was not packed - The omelette with potato and chorizo was more like a potato pie. Needed something acidic like a salsa verde. Then it may have been more than layers of bland potatoes. The hotdog seemed intriguing. Brioche bun was more like brioche toast with a bed of greens and lucky to find the meat. Sooo disappointed. One appetizer was so burnt it was bitter and was noted to the wait staff. Therefore, a free plate of toast topped with mushrooms arrived as well as the manager to apologize. Oddly another appetizer arrived that was not ours. . . Several sandwich style appetizers all had the same taste or dressing per say. Nothing special. Duck sandwich was subpar and mostly overly toasted bread. Pigs in a blanket was apparently a hit with the table. (I did not try this.) Maybe simple syrup drizzled over a a croissant is always tasty. Salty sweet factor. Refills on alcohol beverages were lengthy. And lastly.... price too high for such poor quality of food. I tend not to leave a negative review unless I have given it more than one try... however, I do not intend on returning.
Fun Spanish fare with excellent from-scratch ingredients. I appreciate the preparation care taken. We got carryout which was good but curbside really meant short term parking in the deck and going into the restaurant where food was waiting near entry. No real hassle but I wouldnt call it curbside.
Cooks & Soldiers was a great experience. This placed operated like well oiled machine. Service was spectacular! The food was superb with every dish unique and delicious. The cocktail menu was perfect. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and they went above and beyond with anniversary champagne and dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The dining experience 11 friends and I had will be hard to equal! Cali and the rest of the staff really showed up for our large group. Between the service, the preparation and attention to our needs individually and as a group they really delivered. We were pleased with practically every dish & drink put before us from beginning to end. An incredible night with close friends was enhanced by a top notch dining establishment! We will most certainly return.
I’ve gotta say… this is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. And it’s all thanks to our server Jarrett. From the start, he made sure my lady and I were taken care of. It was our anniversary today and he made it a special dinner. He was extremely professional, respectful, went through the whole menu with us, and even provided us with complimentary champagne and dessert. I highly recommend asking the restaurant to be seated with him. Our night was perfect thanks to him. Food was amazing. We highly recommend the mountain bread as an appetizer. We’ll definitely be coming back for my birthday in January !!!
Enjoyed a night out with friends and it was enjoyed by all. Small plates and starters were ordered and served quickly. Each item ordered was delicious and unique, but I recommend the foie gras and charcuterie board. The tuna and mussels were also well done. I like the atmosphere and location of this restaurant and would recommend it for a number of occasions.
We came this previous weekend having heard good things about the tapas at this restaurant. In short, I was disappointed. While the restaurant was beautiful inside and we experienced great service, the food was lacking. We ordered the cod dip, croquetas, lamb chop, basque stew, and meatballs. The meatballs were the only dish that was seasoned well (but the cheese on the side…not so much a fan of the flavor and texture). Overall no dish stood out as stellar and they were lacking in a standout flavor. If I’m paying over $10 for a plate of pepper and mushroom stew, I expect it to have more than just a homey taste.Cocktails were good but overpriced. Also over the course of our dinner the music changed from more of a date type relaxed music to VERY loud pop music (the weeknd while I’m eating?) which made it difficult to hold a conversation. If you want more flavorful tapas and more of a date night atmosphere, I would recommend Barcelona just around the corner instead.
Let me say that Max has set the bar so high for service that I’m not sure we will be happy going out to eat with out lowering the bar that he set. The food was phenomenal and we have had most of the menu previously we had a few of our favorites from the previous us visit the filet and a couple beverages that were perfect. We asked max to pair a wine with our steak, it was perfect. I pair wines with food basically for a living, and couldn’t have done it better myself. His recommendations and menu knowledge where amazing he was attentive and sociable without constantly hovering overall one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Would recommend this place to everyone food and service were so far above and beyond. I can’t wait to get back!
A little difficult to find due to poorly lit signage, but we had a great experience at Cooks & Soldiers. Had a reservation elsewhere but switched here at the last minute and am so glad we did. The architecture, decorating, lighting created a smooth tapas vibe, and the service and food did not disappoint. A welcome surprise, the patatas bravas had a kick to them, but have to say the cordero estofado stole the show. Also great were broccolini and pescado a la parilla. Will have to return to try more of the wine--the list looked great.
Wowzer. Im generally a bit critical of restaurants, but this is a solid 5 stars for what it is.If youre feeling like eating out is kind of boring, and looking for something different to excite and inspire, this might be perfect. The service was outstanding. Our waiter (Blair) was the perfect balance of helpful, friendly, and attentive - and several other staff checked in on us as well the second a dish or glass was empty. So, the food. Again, wow. Surely you can tell by the menu that youre in for a treat if youre looking for some interesting flavors you cant find elsewhere. I really appreciated the wide variety and the style of tapas which made it easy to taste a bunch of things. All of which were tasty and well thought out.
We really enjoyed the cuisine here - the lamb shoulder, artichokes, meatballs, and octopus were favorites. But even the simple things like the country bread and the potatoes were great. My only caution is that its loud and somewhat difficult to have a conversation with 6 or more people
Very unique experience! Highly recommend. I recommend order bunch of smallPlates so you can experience different dishes. We ordered 9 plates for 4 people, which included a cheese board - it was too much. For a normal appetite 2 plates is good. All the dishes were unique!! I personally loved the bikini, the mussels on toast, loaded potatoes and the octopus.
Had a great experience on my birthday 2 weeks ago. It was a weeknight, and my husband surprised me with four friends at the table. Our server Enoch (apologize if misspelled) did an excellent job taking care of us and spacing the meal out. He even brought a special dessert treat after we declined ordering dessert. Food and drinks were great as well. Very interesting menu, our whole party enjoyed! ****For people out there concerned about covid, the whole staff was wearing masks,(much appreciated), the restaurant was not crowded, (granted it was a weeknight), but the spacing seemed appropriate and its a high ceiling space. Nice job, Cooks and Soldiers!
My husband and I decided to take my Mama for her birthday. Weve wanted to come forever and this place lived up to all the hype..Lots of nice Gin and Sherry options and I opted for the Gin; White on Rye. Very balanced and just enough bite for me.JORDAN was our server and he really killed it. So nice and attentive even though they were obviously busy--he was just awesome. We started with their AMAZING almond special (smokey, buttery, beautiful). My mom was happy for sure.Next, Hongos y Setas (Coal roasted mushrooms, goat cheese crème fraîche, black truffle); these were perfect and they broiled the cheese or torched it so it had a bit of shell that SLAYED.Tostada de Conejo (Roasted rabbit porcheta, almond salbitxada, mustard, celery)--I got to hog this since everyone else was afraid to eat rabbit and I have no complaints about that--it was perfect.Pan Con Tomate (Grilled bread, fresh tomato, raw garlic)--this garlic was on a whole other level. This was my 2nd fave and will get this again.I stole a bite of Moms Bacalao al Pil Pil* (Cod, olive oil emulsion, dried lime, green mango and truffle salad)--it was so balanced and bright. The table favorite ended up being their famous Bikini(White American grilled cheese, Jamón Ibérico, black truffle, white bread) we ordered 4 extras after trying this. So good.We ordered one of each desert and everyone loved theButtermilk Doughnuts the best:Espelette and hazelnut chocolate sauce, fruit preserves, cinnamon and sugarWe loved this place--I think everyone would find something to love here.
What first sold me was the beautiful space, second was the friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff, and third, of course, was the INCREDIBLE food. A wonderful westside spot to treat yourself or celebrate a special dinner with a loved one. Will recommend this spot to my friends when they’re in ATL!
Excellent tapas (pintxos)! The ambiance was very nice, wait staff friendly and helpful, food was excellent. We originally ordered about 7 different pintxos for 5 of us along with a bone in ribeye to share (it was 36 ounces). The pan con tomate and patatas bravas came out first and they were amazing! So much so that we later ordered 2 more of the pan con tomate.Id like to return and experience the other pintxos and will probably go with all tapas next time.
Visited here about a month ago with a group of educator/nurse friends to celebrate being vaccinated and spring break. We were told thank you for our service and treated like royalty. We ordered almost the entire menu - the Bikini lives up to the hype, and we absolutely loved the pan con tomate. Every bite was fantastic, but I probably loved the artichokes the most - delicate, savory, perfect! This is really a perfect place to visit with friends, family, or a date night. It was a meal I’ll remember always. Thanks to Cooks and Soldiers for making this group of public servants feel special and loved. ❤️
Very good food and a cool atmosphere. Not too pricey for a nice Tapa restaurant (4 of us ate and had some drinks for $150). Loved everything we had from the menu and will definitely be back.Pro tip: if you get to the area a little early for your reservation (or have some time after), hit up Ormsby’s across the street.
I wasnt very impressed. I am a huge fan of Iberian Pig and would say that its one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. I went on to their website and saw all the restaurants that were owned by the same company and Cooks and Soldiers was the closest to my house. While some of the foods are shared between the two restaurants, Cooks and Soldiers just didnt bring in the same amount of love. The food was pretty good, but was not reflected by the price. Some plates like the croquets were very flavorful and delicious while others like their artichoke and mushroom bread was incredibly lacking. Their charcuterie board was extremely expensive and tiny. It was nearly 40 dollars for 4 slices on manchego cheese and some jamon iberico (and I mean like less than a handful). Their meatballs were okay; Ive learned after multiple tries that Berkshire pork really isnt that special. The foam they added was barely noticeable, even if they were going for subtle, compared to the strong flavor of the tomato sauce that accompanied the dish. From the 6+ dishes we tried, we pretty much only liked the patatas bravas and the croquets. Everything else was okay at most. I will say this: customer service was really good for us. We were about 35 minutes late (thank you Atlanta traffic) and they still accommodated us.
Really enjoyed it here!Came in a group of 3 and we ordered a bunch of tapas.Alcachofas (Artichokes) is served cold, but very delicious. We really enjoyed the Crudo (yellowtail) and ended up ordering another plate after the first. We also tried the local trout, grilled spanish octopus, patagonian red shrimp, and the meatballs. I enjoyed everything. We also ordered the Chuleton (the ribeye) and though it took a while, it was cooked exactly as ordered. The coal roasted mushrooms came out with the ribeye and I really really loved it!Will definitely be back to try a couple more items. The sommelier was very informative as well.Edit:Came back yesterday for another experience. Was not the same experience as the first time. Our server was rushing us and came back to our table every 5-10 minutes asking us if we were still doing okay. At first, it was okay, but after the 5th time when we were just chatting and eating our tapas, it was really annoying. Im in the serving industry, as well so I understand that sometimes you want to push tables out so you can take more tables. However, constantly coming back to the table really spoiled the atmosphere and dinner. There is a more polite way to push out tables without rushing your customers out. It was really different from my first experience. The only thing that did not disappoint was the food. The food was still really good just as I had remembered. Ill still go back, but will make sure I dont get the same server.
We made a reservation here weeks in advance for my birthday dinner. We only sit on the patio at the moment because of the current covid surge. Because of weather we had to reschedule our reservation 3 times. On the day we were finally going to be ableto dine there the host called to confirm our reservation and informed us that we would not be able to sit on the patio because someone earlier that day had reserved thepatio for a large party. I spoke with the manager and I was told that we could sit outside but not on the patio (somewhere by the front door but not on the patio) or we could reschedule the reservation again and hope the weather would hold out or cancel our reservation altogether. Im very disappointed with the lack of empathy from the manager and their options for how to solve this issue. Wish I could give zero stars for this experience
What a great experience. All of the food was outstanding, the menu can read a bit esoteric, but all the food has reference points to familiar food. The bikini aka the grilled cheese was my personal favorite, my wife loved the cauliflower. Our server Denisha was absolutely perfect, couldnt have asked for better service or recommendations. Last but not least, the dining room manager Chris really took the experience over the top. We will be back.
We came here for our anniversary. I made a reservation on open table. We arrived 15 mins early and were seated right away. Our server was wonderful and all of the food was amazing. We werent that hungry so we got a few small plates instead of a meal. I liked being able to sample the wine before I committed to one. Throughout our meal, a few other servers refilled our drinks and asked if we were okay. We asked the hostess to take a picture of us in the way out and she was more than happy to take several. We both enjoyed the food and had a great time.
What a lovely evening for dining out on the C&S patio! The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Im so pleased with the interesting additions to the menu - the Basque slant is so enjoyable. We enjoyed the smoked mushroom toast as always, but also enjoyed their cod fritters and tuna salad takes, and the CRAB TXANGURRO. Thank you!
Had reservation for 8pm on a Saturday to celebrate my husbands birthday. Whole meal took 2 hours. Service was horribly slow. Waitress couldnt remember what we had ordered. Never received stuffed mushrooms. Only received our charcuterie board after asking her where it was. No apologie for the delays. Didnt get dessert to celebrate his birthday with. Barely got our order after 2 hours! Food was decent but not worth the wait or poor service. Wont be returning. Horribly disappointed.
We had a bad experience on our first visit. C/S manager JoJo follow-up and made it right w a gift card. So we used it for a second chance and they rocked it. Service was outstanding, JoJo greeted up at out table, food was off the charts. We had a great experience and highly recommend going.
I’ve been visiting for years, I even had the privilege of working here with Chef Matthew Ridgeway at one point. I have to say that my recent visit left me with mixed feelings. The service was top notch as always of course but the food wasn’t quite the culinary masterpieces I’ve come to expect. It was still good, don’t get me wrong, but all the new dishes I tried just seemed to be lacking something. That’s when I found out from the Bartender that Chef Matthew had left to open a new restaurant in New Orleans. All I can say is that he will be sorely missed. That level of prodigious talent is incredibly rare. Even during COVID-19 when restaurants were struggling and ingredients hard to come by, every dish on his more limited menu’s was still perfection.I wish Chef John Castellucci and his team the best but he has incredibly big shoes to fill.P.S. Bring back the Rabbit Pintxos, best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. 😋
We had our Valentine’s Day dinner at Cooks & Soldiers and were thrilled with the experience through and through. Our waiter, Enoch, was incredibly fun, helpful, knowledgeable about all of the dishes and drinks, and attentive. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant any more.
I was really excited to eat here because the menu looks lovely. I was disappointed by the quality of the service. I had a reservation at 7pm. I arrived and was told that my table would be ready shortly - then waited an additional 20 minutes while I watched many other parties be seated. I reminded the hostess of my presence and it was another 10 minutes until I was seated outside amongst the gnats when my reservation was for an indoor table. Once here, I requested to be moved inside as the patio and its noise and gnats were not the experience I wanted for the price I was prepared to pay for this meal. The server assigned to us was kind. He poured us some (cheap) rosé to hold us over and did his best to communicate our situation to the hostess staff. The hostess staff agreed to reseat us but did not show up to reseat us - ever. We ended up leaving at 8:15 because we had still not been reseated and the hostess staff had not communicated with us any further about the situation. I would recommend Marcel across the street - much more character and a completely top tier service experience for about the same price.
Fantastic dining experience. Very Covid friendly and the food remains exquisite. The service is 5-star and the the atmosphere is cozy yet refined. This restaurant is definitely upscale but is worth the splurge. Truly there is nothing bad on their menu. Tapas style and delicious.
So great! The octopus, the Bikini grilled cheese, the broccolini, the artichokes, I could go on and on. We got 10 different tapas and each one was perfect! Service was great, everything came out in great time and was so delicious and flavorful. Best tapas I’ve had in ATL by far.
Incredible experience. We came with 12 including one vegetarian and none of us went home dissatisfied. The appetizers were amazing and a couple of guys eat octopus for the first time and were blown away. The vegetarian dishes were incredible and the choices were abound for everyone. One of our friends comes to this restaurant with a vegan friend every time she is in Atlanta so very Vegan friendly as well. And service was casual but very good with great suggestions.
Consistently some of the best meals Ive had in Atlanta. Must hits:The Bikini - The GOAT of grilled cheese sandwiches. Youll need more than one. Or ten.Chuleton - A modern meat marvel. Price tag is high, but it must be experienced at least once.Coal roasted mushrooms - incredible smoky flavorIf youre wondering if this is the date night spot for you and your loved one or if you simply want to have a fantastic meal, C&S is it.
A comfy environment with excellent service and delicious food. We were a party of 7, ordered charcuterie, French onion, mushroom and grilled cheese appies delicious 😋I had called ahead to order a birthday cake from the pastry chef and it was by far one of the best cakes ever! Almond flavor yellow cake (incredible consistency) with layers of chocolate frosting like nothing Ive ever had before and drizzled with bittersweet dark chocolate. Perfect for our celebration!
Loved this place. Went for our anniversary and our first date out in two years since our baby was born and they made sure that we had a romantic table and wonderful service. The food was amazing and incredibly unique. The flavors are so complex that you really need to slowly savor every bite. And our server gave great recommendations. We ordered six dishes between the two of us and it was the perfect amount. And the food comes out in waves so it’s a great way to continue your conversations between the delicious courses. Lovely decor as well and very comfortable seating.I highly recommend and we hope to return soon.
Amazingly well prepared, thought out and executed culinary experience. Staff were so amazingly pleasant, fun filled and checked on you very often without helicoptering. Virginia lead our table to an amazing meal. She was greatly prepared to speak to all points of the menu.
Constantly changing (or rather I should say tweaking) but also very consistently strong menu. Professional and knowledgeable wait staff. One of the best steaks Ive ever eaten has been at this restaurant. Must trys: Octopus, the Spanish custard paired with Royal Tokaji (worth the price). My one gripe would be too many of their share plates are essentially sandwiches or toasts I wish they would focus less on the bread and more on their distinctive creativity.
This is a good example of a restaurant that tries to do too much. Im not a fan of eateries that have better service than food. Im there for the food, period. Flavors here generally dont meld. Dishes are too busy, and I suppose they think that justifies the price. Keep it simple. Your best dish shouldnt be a grilled cheese sandwich. Sorry. I shouldve known, they have a similar menu to The Iberian Pig, which is a sister restaurant, and Im not a fan of that place, either. Not worth the hype or the money.
This restaurant is fantastic. They have a wonderful and interesting selection of spirits and wines. The menu is creative and the flavors of the dishes are outstanding. It is the most intelligent lobster roll I have seen in a long time if ever. The staff is friendly and diligent. This place is the perfect balance of comfort and professionalism with all the bells and whistles.
What a fun night. Went there with friends to celebrate a 50th birthday. The experience was so fun. Carter, our server, was very knowledgeable about both the food and the drink menus and worked really hard to make our experience unique and memorable for us. The food was exceptional and unlike anything weve had before.Definitely looking forward to when we can return and try the many other interesting menu items.
Went for a Friday date night. The food was delicious and atmosphere was excellent. A little pricey but well worth it. Took off a star because the waitress seemed annoyed we were there and I caught her rolling her eyes at us more than once when we had questions about the menu. Still would go again just for some of that truffle grilled cheese.
I had an excellent experience on Saturday night with my friend here. It was our first time, and we were very well taken care of. Everything we ate and drank was fantastic. It was the service, however, that was most astonishing. Annie was incredibly friendly. When we told her it was our first time, she gladly went over the menu in detail and made everything sound irresistible. And our food lived up to the descriptions! She even gave us a couple food gifts. I dont get service this great everywhere; so, needless to say, it was refreshing! Thanks to Annie and the rest of the staff for a great time!
We had dinner on Saturday night, and we were immediately greeted by friendly host staff that led us to our table. The manager, Marissa, came by to introduce herself and made us feel so welcome! Our server, Jack, gave us amazing recommendations on the food and was so attentive and interactive. Were so glad we tried this place. The food was great, but the excellent service really stood out and made our evening special. We will definitely be back :)
Highly recommended! Wonderful small plates and excellently mixed cocktails. Dont miss the desert. Its not on the main menu but the doughnuts and vegan brownie were to die for. All the tapas were amazing from the melt in your mouth bikini(grilled cheese) to the sweet and savory pork belly which we ended getting a second of. The service was also A++.
We went there two nights ago for my late birthday celebration. Management had reserved the best table for our small party (corner window) and greeted us with champagne. Every dish we ordered was delivered by server or members of management with a wonderful (and beautiful) presentation. There was not a dish that wasnt superb...FRESH ingredients with impeccable pairing of flavors. Furthermore, this restaurant is not pretentious...it is comfortable, relaxing, while being refined. Ive been to restaurants around the world, and I really dont know how they offer so many specialty ingredients, do them very well AND keep the prices moderate! When we started to leave, several of the staff said, Thank you for celebrating your birthday with us! Thank you for a wonderful experience Cooks and Soldiers!
Everything was amazing from start to finish. We shared about 7 or 8 small plates between the three of us. The iberico... the bikini sandwich... the scallops... the smoked okra... the smoked mushrooms... there wasnt a dish that wasnt excellent among them. Our waitress was great as well with wonderful suggestions when we asked for them and the wine she suggested was so good, I asked to see the bottle so I could buy some later. Its a favorite for sure.
My wife surprised me with dinner here on my birthday in December. I had the most amazing time. The server was very knowledgable, attentive, and polite. When asked, he offered a perfect wine selection based on my preference and our meal. I believe his name was Jack. Everyone from bus boys and food runners to our server and managers worked together to remove empty plates. Even though they were busy, the ambiance and lighting still made things feel very relaxing and intimate. You really feel pampered with the level of service that they provide. I will MOST CERTAINLY return.
We had a large party for a work dinner and the server could tell we were overwhelmed and confused by the menu. She suggested she curate a meal for us instead. She nailed it! Six rounds of small plates, one protein, and two desserts were a success and everyone was delighted. The food was amazing and the service was spectacular.
The Spanish-inspired food was absolutely delicious—I agree with all the rave reviews! The menu is clever, but still accessible for all palates. My friends and I shared five or six dishes, and there were no complaints whatsoever. Our server was cheerful and helpful, as it was our first time dining here. Atmosphere is sexy, lively and fun, however it is a little bit loud (on a Saturday night, at least) for intimate conversation. Two thumbs up—I will definitely be back!
Disappointing to be there on Valentines and had a very rude waitress. She took our bill and never said thank you or hope you will come again. We tried to have someone find her to pack up or get boxes for left overs. She never came back to table after we got our food and only when she brought bill. She laid it down, then reached over food to grab, then put back without a word. It made for not a good experience on a day to feel special. Also disappointing bathroom had no toilet paper in ladies room. For a $$$ bill, I would of hoped they would of done better.
This restaurant has great atmosphere, good taste in music, and friendly staff! Their happy hour deals are fairly priced. Great location for business, leisure, and special events! On top of that, they appeared in a show favorite of mine, Queer Eye. Very trendy tapas place to eat right near Midtown.

2022-01-08This is a great place from start to finish. We had a reservation for our family of 5. Everyone was professional and kind. The noise control was good, music at an appropriate level to conversation. Bathrooms were clean. Now the most important part. The food is really wonderful. We ordered off the gluten free menu and did not feel we missed out on anything. I felt like the protein prices were a little high, but that might be the times we are in and the other plates were well priced and everything was a delight. Overall table favorites were the sweet potatoe dish and the steak dish. My kids 7,11, 13 were all treated with respect and the waiter addressed them directly. Highly recommend!

2022-02-09Delicious food, excellent service and fast takeout! The steak was a little undercooked for being medium well, but it was very tasty! I would highly recommend trying this place out. Would love to return for dine-in at some point.

2022-04-24Wonderful experience! The food was delicious! The highlights were the charcuterie and cheese board, the black truffle grilled cheese sandwich with Iberico ham, the patatas bravas, the pork croquettes, and the dessert, San Sebastian cheesecake. The portions were honest. I appreciated the espelette pepper seasoning here and there, and the truffle honey on the cheese board was a delightful touch. The service was excellent; the staff was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I recommend this restaurant.

2022-04-07I dont know how I missed writing a review for this spot. Its located in West Midtown. Its on the corner of 14th street and Howell Mill road. They offer valet parking located on the first level of the garage attached off of 14th street. My sister and I opted to dine here on a Friday evening. We came in without reservations. I would NOT recommend doing this. While we were able to be seated in the bar area, you may not have the same luck. Our server was awesome! He had a great personality. He advised us of his favorite items on the menu. I was already going to order 2 of his recommendations. when I came on a prior occasion I had the Bikini and it was the best grill cheese sandwich I have ever had in my entire life! The other option I had already picked out was the smoked mushroom toast. His third suggestion was the Gambas, which is a shrimp dish. The food came out in no time. Our first dish to arrive was the smoked mushroom toast ( my favorite of the three dishes). The menu describes this dish as local mushrooms: black truffle, goat cheese crème fraiche, sourdough. The combination of all the flavors work. There is a slight taste of truffle that makes this dish special! Its a must try.My next favorite item was the bikini. We did opt to get the vegetarian version of this dish. The traditional bikini does have pork in it. The vegetarian bikini description is white cheddar grilled cheese, black truffle, white bread. A little history on the bikini sandwich: its a Barcelona classic pressed ham and cheese sandwich. It is named after the Bikini hall in Barcelona. Ok, now that we know where the name came from lets discuss how amazing the rendition from Cooks and Soldiers is. This sandwich is simple perfection! I dont know if its the butter perfectly toasted in the head or the quality of the cheese, but this sandwich will have you wanting more! While I also enjoyed the shrimp dish, it just does not compare to the first two I mentioned. However it is a solid dish and worth ordering.Overall, this spot is one of my favorites in the city. It has a sexy ambiance with low lighting throughout, amazing food and recommendable service is provided. If you check it out, I cant imagine you being disappointed.

2022-06-15I went for happy hour with a group of 4 on a Tuesday. The deals for happy hour aren’t that great. They have $5 gin & tonics, which is nice, but for food, they only offer 3 different bites (literal bites) of food for $1, and you can only get one bite per drink.I got the Vegetarian Bikini (grilled cheese with truffle, $9). It was very, very good. I dipped it in the Ibérico Albondigas sauce and that was delicious too.Note on parking - valet at the deck off of 14th street and get your ticket validated at the host stand. Valet took cash, card, and even Venmo. Valet closes when the restaurant closes.Cool atmosphere. Nice light fixtures. Good for a date! While I won’t go again for happy hour, I’ll definitely go back to try more items on the menu! Their cocktails looked really good, so I can’t wait to try those!

2022-02-14Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Had a nice Valentines date with my girlfriend. Our waiter was really nice and helpful with his recommendations
