El Porton Mexican Restaurant in other cities:
Food was good. Service not the best but not too bad just slow & took then a while to come back and ask if we needed anything else in which cas we did like refills, napkins, drop fork needed a new one etc...But what i really didnt like & only giving it 3 stars ✨️. We sat on the patio & NO AIR & WAS HOT OUT SIDE THERE PATIO WAS INCLOSED LIKE GARAGE DOORS. They had celining fans but my wife didnt let ask then to put them on cause they did look like they never been cleaned & thats why we didnt ask to put them on. So yeah people we had a bad experience. SORRY!..
Over Priced Mexican Food that is not even that Good.Service was not great, I asked for fajitas without pork and the waiter still brought it with pork , when I complaint he said its only a dollar more dont worry, what kind of response is that? I dont care if it was free, I did not want it. no esta bueno, es para gente americana no hispanos.
One of the place that has never disappointed us. Always top class service, I dont want to talk about an individual but I found that the whole staff was friendly and giving their 100%The food is delicious as always and my personal favorite of Crunchy Taco and Chalupa can be seen. It even goes well with a Michalada. Kid just kept fetching chips and salsa and never had his dinner as he was too full. :)I must try place in Roswell area.
One of the finest mexican restaurant of the area. Food quality is good and they have variety of drinks. Margarona and House margarita is a must try. They have plenty of Vegeterian friendly options available.Ambience: 7/10Cleanliness: 8/10Service: 8/10Vegetarian Options: 8/10Food: 8/10Price(1 is cheap 10 is Costly): 6/10Value for Money: 7/10
I finally got a chance to return for lunch today after 8 years, I used to work nearby and went all the time because I love this style of Mexican food. Im happy to report that it is every bit as good as I remember. Excellent fast service. Food is fresh and amazingly tasty. Margaritas are strong and of ample size. If you like Jalisco style, this is one of the best spots I can think of in the north Atlanta burbs.Outstanding all around.Way to keep the quality standards high everyone!!
The food was alright. I had ordered a Chimichanga and The bread was way to fried in some parts and very doughy in the middle. It was a decent portion size but my Friends ordered a veggie enchilada as they were vegetarian. We then found half way through the meal that there was a piece of chicken in it. So I wouldnt come here again unless I really have to.
My friend ordered a quesadilla with grilled chicken and it was incorrect. She reordered it and it was wrong again. She did not take one bite. Once she got the check, she saw that they had charged her for the quesadilla that she had not eaten. So she politely asked for it to be taken off of her check and received lots of attitude. Also, the waiter came to our table to take our order, give us our food, and give us our checks. There were no check ins in between. We never received any refills on our drinks because of the lack of check ins. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Horrible. I ate here a few nights ago and Ive been physically sick ever since. Im pretty positive Ive gotten food poisoning from the beef in their restaurant. I ordered the beef and cheese nachos and Ive been vomiting non stop for days now. F--k this place. Never EVER going back. Find another Mexican restaurant cuz this place ISNT IT.
It is too bad. The Beef and Bean Nachos were pretty good for this type of restaurant. The downside is the ordering process. The web site does not let you order a drink. When I picked up my order, I placed the drink order with the manager. The manager proceeded to get BOTH drink requests wrong; not to mention his dry demeanor. The To Go waitress was great, which basically saved the day.
I ordered a #11 combination yesterday...a burrito, an enchilada, and a taco. I specified ground beef and no onions (Im allergic to them, but the aftereffects are relatively mild if I limit intake). My platter came out and the filling was at least half onions. Im talking about the ground beef was #2 in the order of predominance of ingredients. I should have taken a pic, but we were in a hurry to get to a ball game and this was a developing crisis. The manager arrived quickly and told me that the ground beef is cooked with onions, which is ordinary and to be expected. We went back and forth several times about the absolute volume of included onions, resolving the matter by me ordering steak instead of ground beef. Those versions of my preferred items were hot and delicious, but seriously, the ground beef filling shouldnt be 60% onions, even for people that like and can eat onions. The manager was respectful and friendly, as was our server, Destiny. If you enjoy hot stuff, ask for the habanero salsa. It is very red, very fruity--as habaneros should be, and quite hot. Its rare that a Mexican-type food place has salsa that gives me a good burn, but El Porton has some. Try it if you are a pepperhead or are adventurous.
Fajitas were undercooked...big raw tomato on the plate that looked freshly sliced and not grilled. Shrimp was questionable..Def not grilled. Steak were huge grizzly pieces that were obviously frozen. My guac and sour cream came in a mini tortilla bowl filled with water! It was terrible experience. Just gross! We were a table of 8 and Long time customers! SMH! Had to go to the bar to get a drink as got sick of waiting on our waiter to show up! Gotta do better!
Very good place to have your meals. People are very friendly and the taste is very tasty and very Mexican. Alex was very friendly, nice and always attended us with a big smile and giving his best effort in much more in every request we made to him. My family and I really loved this place and we recommend it highly if you would like to taste Mexican food. If you are Mexican and you miss the Mexican food, go and visit El Porton Mexican Restaurant, the place, the people and the taste will make you feel like home.
El Porton used to be my go-to restaurant after work. It has the best shrimp and fish tacos in town (based on my personal preference😂) and super deals Monday to Friday. However, once the pandemic hit, they don’t have the deals anymore. The price is 1/3 more than the old days when I went during the taco special nights. It’s sad, because the restaurants need to survive. I hope we can all eat at our fave restaurant freely with the great deals again soon.
Whenever Im at a new Mexican restaurant, I usually try the enchiladas because every place makes them a little different🇲🇽 At this El Porton, I tried the Enchiladas Supreme which came with one beef, one chicken, one bean & one cheese. The way they were served was definitely less saucy than I am used to, with just a little Ranchera sauce as the topping. I usually like to have them served more traditionally with the tortillas coated in sauce but not swimming in a plate of sauce🍛 Not my favorite enchilada plate but still, they were all tasty & I ate almost the entire meal - which was a generous size. We sat in the sunny outdoor patio where the seats are made of reclaimed tequila barrels & it was a very nice meal🌞 Servers were friendly, wearing masks & wiping tables down between customers😷 Somewhat socially distanced, but it was still a little crowded at lunchtime🌮
Every thing here is so consistent. Been going for twenty years and never had a poor experience. Whether picking up, or sitting down, we keep coming back. A lot of restaurants on this strip/area of Alpharetta Highway have a have a hard time staying open longterm, so it is a testament to the quality/consistency/atmosphere/service of El Porton that not only are they still open, but seem to do consistently solid business. Highly recommend for a solid Mexican-American dining experience that won’t let you down.TLDR: Been going weekly to this location for nearly 20 years. Never had a bad experience.
Used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Since pandemic, however; not so good. I was in on 6/19/21, and the queso with jalaleno dip tasted like plain cheese, no jalapeño. Could not even see any jalapeño much less taste. Ordered a Texas frozen margarita and tasted ice just mix and ice. Awful, could taste absolutely no liquor. Ordered combination number 1 with refried beans. Serving was half of what used to be served. Dont think I will be going back. So sad they have come to this. Oh. Also, I paid in cash and server brought me no change back.Just assumed all left over cash was for her. Not good.
Usually our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. But my wife and I ordered to go and I got Pollo Chipotle which is my usual fare. Usually comes with cheese sauce and chipotle peppers but this time they put no cheese on top. It was literally just grilled chicken and peppers in adobo sauce. The kind you get in a can for ¢40 at Walmart. It was so spicy I could scarcely eat it. And so bland without the cheese sauce I really didnt want to. And since I got it to go, its not like I can send it back. The restaurant is fairly good but order to go at your own risk.
I have always had the pleasure of eating at El Portron in Savannah and Pooler and have had an amazing experience. This location however suffers a huge service miss. Our waitress just disappeared for 10 minutes when we were ready to order and when we were done eating, waited 15 minutes and I had to go find her to pay our bill. The food is good, but the service needed help especially on a slow Saturday for lunch
Friendly service and high quality Mexican dishes at decent prices. Salsa is made in-house, and the chips were not greasy at all. The mole chicken dish was very tasty. The shredded chicken is good also, and didnt taste like the watery canned chicken served at some Mexican restaurants. The spicy cheese dip was average, and not spicy at all, with only a few bits of jalapenos visible. Unfortunately, they had the doors open to the outside dining patio and then from there to the parking lot, so flies were coming into the indoor seating and buzzing around the tables -- very annoying! They didnt have a bug zapper that I could see, or else it wasnt working very well.
The service was great and quick and the food was start. Loved the presentation. The only issue was that i found a small piece of wire in my food! We did let the server know and she asked if I would prefer another meal to be prepared. They offered a discount based on that. I hope this is a one off and not a usual issue.
Edit: 4/2021 happened again with the wrong order so dropped a star and probably wont be coming back. Food is excellent when the order is actually correct but definitely not worth going out of the way for a 1/5+ orders being wrong. Been going here for years but lost patience.----I will start by saying this by far the best Mexican restaurant in the area and been coming here fairly often for years. Not all El Porton are created equal, lol and this one is by far the best in the area. But only 4 stars because you should definitely check your order before you leave. Most the time take out is correct but the accuracy of their orders is pretty bad. I drive out of my way past several other Mexican restaurants and even another El Porton because the food here is always much better. The downside is that if I have family picks it up on the way home or I forget to rip open the tied bag and check, its wrong a bit more often than is within the acceptable norm and its a pain to drive back. So check what you actually got right away or someone might end up without dinner or an obnoxious drive back for no reason.
Great food! Food quality is consistent. Some servers are very friendly, others are lukewarm. We came for a birthday lunch on 3/23 and let the server know we were celebrating a birthday. We heard singing for a table, and my minor son got very excited. It was not for him. No problem, we thought, his turn is next. Then to our surprise, our server brought the Happy Birthday dish (which is nice) with a halfhearted response and no fellow singers. When I asked why no birthday song, she offered an excuse about not having enough staff (even though the nearby table got the birthday treatment). My son was crushed. We come here every year for birthdays, but after this experience, its time for a new spot. As an adult, it would not bother me if this was my experience for a birthday, but for kids these moments mean everything. It was a disappointment to say the least.
I have been coming here for quite a few years, the personel is always energetic and always ready yo make your visit as pleasant as possible, when it comes yo the food you definently get uour moneys worth great portions, and excellent flavor, and always going out of their way to make any request you might have, is not just a texmex but it provides that authentic Mexican flavor to their dishes. I also have order take out and they provide speedy service and is always nicely packed and food always warm, I will definitely be coming back throughout the flowing years, highly recommended.
So many wonderful restaurants to chose from, in Roswell, many Mexican.... this one has been around a long time and definitely is not the one that needs business... especially if you are not someone they want to wait on. The bus people go from bus pans to passing out chips..hand washing not applicable... the wait staff is grumpy at best and the manager does not want to interact with people who don’t understand his language.. not sure about the food... never got that far... too scary of a proposition..
The food and drinks were delicious. My husband and I were starving, so we decided to give the restaurant a try. Not only were the food and drinks amazing, but the service of Arturo exceeded expectations. It was great to have a conversation with someone who listened. I will definitely come back just for the service.
Good food, and friendly service! Convenient location with plenty of parking. Somewhat dated and dark interior. Pretty typical food selections with not much to offer in the way of out of the ordinary Mexican. That being said they cover most of the Staples and what they do sell is very good.
This place was a nice find. The service. Maria, was great and the homemade sangria are awesome. Maria helped me find a particular dish that I was looking for and tweaked it to my liking. The food came out fast and hot. We could barely finish our appetizer and first round of drinks. Lol But no complaints from me. The food was delicious and service was swift. Ill definitely be going back to this place again.
Great family owned restaurant . This is not a chain or franchise. You will have fresh food daily. Different lunch specials , where the staff is fun and efficient. . Try this for your next Mexican meal , you will find your new favorite spot. Check for the one near you , as I said family owned. So all of the locations will be great !
My family celebrated my Nieces birthday here today. Fernando was our server and he took great care of us. We all enjoyed the food very much and the atmosphere wasfun. We all ordered different entrees and all were good and fresh. I had the chicken fajitas which were very good. I had enough left for a second meal which is so convenient. Thanks to all staff, especially Fernando, for a great time🎉
This is a very convenient location. My waiter was polite and kept my drink full. I got a chile relleno and it was awful from presentation to taste. I hate to give this review as several people have told me it is a good spot. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but thats a pretty basic dish at a Mexican place. My impression leaving (the menu itself was dirty and worn out) was that the place has gotten a little lax coming off past successes and the given traffic of the location. Most likely wont go back. It was affordable. Guess I got what I paid for.
We’ve been here a few time and had a really good time. This past time however was very slow and service was lacking. Receiving our margaritas after we had completely finished our meal after ordering them first wasn’t my favorite and for a Texas margarita it was very sugary and weak.
Fast, friendly seating and service. The chips and salsa are my all-time favorites; thin & crisp chips and excellent salsa. Never had a bad meal there. We moved to Roswell in 82 and started going to El Porton when it was in the current post office/Salvation Army location. Been going ever since.
Myself and 2 others went there on a Friday night around 9 pm. They were busy, but not slammed. While waiting at the bar for a table to open up, my gal pal ordered a draft beer. Not only was the beer warm, but it had a funny taste to it. She mentioned this to the bartender who took the beer from her and simply dumped it down the drain. Then turned around without offering a different drink and served other customers. We had to ask for another beer since he poured the almost full beer down the drain. After being seated let me say our waitress was AWFUL. We ordered cheese dip and another round of drinks which took close to 25 minutes to reach the table. Luckily for us we were sitting by the bar, and could see our drinks that were poured just sitting there for the 20 minutes. I almost got up and served ourselves. At one point, we witnessed three beers sit on the pickup station for 40 minutes until they were served to someone. Simply unacceptable. When the food did arrive, it was alright. Thats the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one. Not once after the food was served, did the server come to ask if everything was okay. I had to actually flag down another waitress to ask for the check.Well check time comes. We split the bill up having 2 tickets on mine and one on another. We left a tip on one of the checks, but not the other. Monday rolls around, and I see a double tip that they added in on the other check. Needless to say it has been disputed. This place deliberately wrote in another tip. DONT COME HERE. Shady business and staff and mediocre food.
Great Mexican restaurant I stumbled across. Decided to pop in for a quick drink at 2pm. Ordered a beer and the cute little Latina bartender delivered me a mug o beer bigger than my head😜. I said wow what a big mug she replied oh this is a medium🧡🧡🧡👀 and the best warm chips and chunky guacamole Ive had in awhile. Definitely need to get back and explore that menu soon.
Under new management so I was a bit disappointed in the new vibe. I had been here several times and always felt welcomed, but we felt a bit put off and rushed since the change over. Drinks are great, food is typical Mexican cuisine. Prices are cheap and the portions are more than sufficient. The service was ok but not overly accomodating.
Iam on a roll today with the reviews I have left for my neighbors and friends. El Porton needs people to know how great their food is and Im spreading the word. The margaritas there are pretty cheap but the taste is expensive. I cant complain about the service either, we didnt wait long at all to order or for our food to arrive. We will for sure visit this place again. Give them a try too.
It was the first and last time, I do not know where to start, the waiter asked me where is the tip, the food was not clean, the manager is the worst, I have a a child, and he will turn three years next March so his meal should be free, but the smart manager asked me for his birth certificate to make sure I was telling the truth. I feel very sorry for spending my money in this disgusting place.
We went here for the first time & won’t be back!!!! Food order was screwed up bad & our waitress was bartending , serving 5 other tables so it was hard for her to even keep up. Drinks should be good at Mexican restaurants but Hell No. Margarita was way too sweet & didn’t get refill on chips.
Decided to do take out for Cinco de Mayo wrong choice. Was told our order would be ready in an hour and a half. Showed up to a mess our order was not ready. There was no one directing or attending the to go stand. Patrons were riffling through I go bags. I was amazed at the un organized chaos finally tracked down a worker to only find out our order was still not ready. Terrible. Wasted a lot of time waiting on food that would never arrive. I will never give el portion any location a dollar vet again bad bye 😤
Reasonably priced, usually sit at the bar and service is usually good and quick. May be slightly overpriced for the portions you get. 4.50 for beans and rice split on a plate. 11.00 for folded chicken quesadilla with no side. Lunch with a beer is about 20 bucks for one.
Even without live music, El Porton is a nice, casual dining spot for pretty good Mexican food. The staff is friendly and they all have a great sense of humor. The food comes out promptly and the tastes above average. I wouldnt say its the best Mexican food Ive had, though its among the best in Georgia.Really enjoyed the chimichangas and Chile Verde. Ill probably be coming back next time Im in the area.
Went for lunch with colleagues. Wasnt too crowded, got a good place and a great server. The server seemed a little upset with something and in rush but no errors in taking orders and ensuring all orders were prepared right. Food was tasty and right price. Id recommend this place for sure.
It has been a few years since we have been here and it has gone downhill. We ordered the special 3 tacos for 3.75 and enchiladas verda. Both were horrible the chicken was flavorless and seemed boiled. The tacos were water making the soft taco mushy. Enchilada didnt have enough sauce. It was disgusting. The waitress was short with us. It seemed like she was the only 1 working as we saw 3 people just standing around. Will not come back. And would recommend other go to twisted taco down the street.
Great restaurant! Went here with a group from work and had a great meal. Also, I highly recommend the organic margarita. I thought it was just gimmick, but since it was a meal sponsored by another company, I gave it a try. I was really surprised. It is made with fresh juice and organic tequila. Very good.
Will not eat here again. Chips and salsa were not good, and most of the chips were stale and broken. The rest of the food was just okay. Server messed up our appetizer order, which she did correct, but after that, we literally never saw her again. We had about 4 other people meander over to our table, but never again did she show up. Ended up having to ask the manager for the check so we could leave.
Read and believe all the bad reviews! People that are rating this place 3 stars and above either have no taste buds or just like bad restaurants. Met a friend here for lunch. All the food was just barely edible, tasteless. Stale chips, yucky salsa. The guacamole is the whipped kind that looks like pre-made dip, not fresh, tasted like water. Everything was just disgusting. To top it all off, terrible waiter. We saw him twice. Once for our order and when he dropped our check off. I dont understand how this place stays in business.
El Porton is a great place to order from during this crazy time of Covid19. You can also drive up and order outside in their parking area. The order comes up rather quickly and is fresh and delicious. They have really good salsa and guacamole . The tortilla chips are thin and crisp . The seafood burrito is a favorite. The soft grilled fish tacos and ceviche is also great.
Bartenders are pretty chill. Nachos are soggy 2/3 times. Chips and salsa are pretty decent. My friend seems to get the better of the Chile rilleno every time we both order, seems kind of suspect 🤔 If you like Margaritas, they some. My friend likes to order their white wine(at a Mexican restaurant?) So it must be top shelf. Their rice and beans are also top shelf. Thanks
Used to enjoy ordering from here and dined here with friends a few times. Not amazing but good food and good prices. Quit going after a coworker ordered a quesadilla and a large dead fly was found inside of it after she had already taken a few bites. Didnt look like it had just landed in the food either, it appeared cooked. Too paranoid after that to eat here anymore. That food should not have made it out of the kitchen and someone should have noticed that.
Our family loves the wide assortment of traditional Mexican dishes and freshly made tortillas, with every imaginable salsa and toppings. Beef, pork, chicken and fish dishes are always delicious, but the goat and beef tongue are entrees I look forward to on every trip. Dont pass up the dessert bar!
To be honest when we first moved to Roswell this restaurant wasnt high on service at all, after new management over last couple months a believe this place has really turned around. Great staff, great food, love coming back our server was Maria tonight and did an excellent job. Thank you.
DO NOT GO HERE. Horrific customer service. Adela behind the bar has a poor attitude. The restaurant as whole is unorganized and cant handle an average saturday night. We came in to get take out and NO ONE HELPED. This is not a post about food, its okay, its about pride in their work. No one was friendly, didnt try to help order, upsell, no drinks, didnt check the order, gave us the bill. RIDICULOUS. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that have better food, better atmosphere, and better service. SERIOUSLY YOUVE BEEN WARNED.
I had a seafood burrito it doesnt sound like what a burrito would be made of but this platter was delicious. Its served with a side of rice and beans smothered with cheese. I went Friday for the first time with my coworkers and went back again Sunday for a pick up order. Ill probably go again this week.
I was underwhelmed. Its not terrible, but not good either. Guacamole is tasteless, dont bother. Pretty sure its just mashed avocado. Salsa was decent. Margarita was meh. I ordered the Chimichanga, it was served in a bland queso so any crispness they may have achieved was gone. Im not like angry I went but there is no need to ever go again.
Terrible terrible terrible the waiters ripped a cup out of my husbands hands and attacked him and took my To go cup out of my stroller with my newborn in it so much for a outting nothing was done to correct the situation or appease us as customers definitely NEVER EVER coming back I would advise no one to spend there hard earned money with this establishment horrible service!
Service was sleeping... Because the El Porton and coming they are very fast the El Porton locations usually give great service but first we were set at a place with a loud group I asked to move the new movie to a strranged shaped booth!!!! Tthen nobody came to give us Waters or take our orders for what it seemed... a long time.. the waiter cannot understand English but they should know the menu they got my order wrong but I ate it anyway I didnt want to complain....I hope the Roswell location improves!
Been here numerous times only 1 problem in the 2 years I’ve been going here. Placed a pick up order for steak fajita nachos the guy at the bar gets it totally wrong adds a cheese dip I didn’t want, and he keeps saying “that’s what she ordered over the phone.” I have no wife and no girlfriend withstanding the fact that I called. The guy refused to look for another order that might have been the correct one. My theory is some woman is going to be furious with this guy because he’s ignorant. Other than that highly recommend going here.
Best Mexican food in Roswell without a doubt, the salsa for the chips is spicy the chips are corn and warm, the workers are very nice and hard working, but the menu is quite hard to navigate and one time I even got my order wrong, but it was still delicious, but it’s still a great resutrant I would recommend it
Ground beef was flavorless and saturated in grease. The service was lacking. I didnt even get a refill. I had to close out this experience by asking the bartender for my bill. This came after being ignored at the entrance for 5 minutes. I hardly give anything below a 3 star, so theres that.
The great food is back ...They listened.. So we tried El Porton to night we where weekly regulars till Dec of 2018 when they changed food vendors and the food quality went down.. Great News the switched back to the food the vendor that made them successful..The chicken and steak where excellent..Great Service as always ..Thank you for listening we will be back every week ..
El Porton is one of those tucked away little spots with wonderfully decent food and cheap drinks that make it a traditional stop for those needing Mexican in Marietta. Nothing is so great as to be out of this world but in dozens of visits Ive never been disappointed. If you can get here when theres no kids around, youve got it made. If not, they have tequila.
Hostess was rude to start with. Once we got seated, waited 5, 10, 15 minutes eating only chips and salsa with no drinks. We asked the hostess who asked the manager where our server was and only 5 minutes later server showed up without any apologies. We asked if the poor service is going to continue and server could not answer, looked down and asked if we wanted to order a drink. We looked around at empty cups of others, got our answers and left to La Parilla 5 miles N. Up the street. They never disappointed us.
We sat on the patio for over 15 minutes eating chips waiting for a server. I went in and asked the hostess who our server was but it was another several minutes before she showed up to take our drink order. We are longtime customers of El Porton but the last two dining experiences have not been good. Last night the bar tender was out in the parking lot next to the patio dining area talking to her friend on a VERY LOUD motorcycle. A child on the patio started crying as the bike was exceptionally disturbing. All 4 parties dining on the patio ask this guy to turn his bike off which he did. The bar tender went back inside after flirting, laughing, and having her picture taken with this guy while sitting on the bike. She clearly was acquainted with this man. He then started the bike again and sat there revving the engine intentionally disturbing the customers. Once he drove away we were greatly relieved but the inconsiderate jerk then circled the restaurant just for effect loudly revving as he passed the patio yet one more time. When we (3 or the 4 tables) complained to the manager, his response was “we don’t know who that guy is”. I suggested he ask his bartender. It will be a while before we go back, if ever.
First of all, my husband and I have been going there for 15 years. Its always been a bit hit or miss with service but food made up for it. Went in today and the food was an epic fail and service worse than ever. Food arrived and refried beans were liquid. The waiter said thats because the ranchero sauce from the chicken mixed with it. I told him that I dont mix my rancheros sauce with my beans and he said he would get me a new order of beans.....they never showed up and he came by 10 minutes later while the mariachi band was blaring in my ear and smiled, said something and gave me a thumbs up. I didnt know what he said but assumed he meant my refried beans were on the way. I had pretty much finished the rest of my food but just nodded since I couldnt respond anyway. Never got the beans and then he just disappeared. We wanted our tab and a to go box. I had to find my own to go box and finally had to find someone to ask to get our bill. Got the bill and they charged me for New York Strip steak ranchero - $15 and I asked the guy who gave me the bill if this was correct because I ordered chicken and thought it was lower. He said no, its the same price. This was the manager I was talking to so I told him what happened with my meal and he did NOTHING! Not going back.
Just keep your eye out for bad salad dressing....Ive gone to this restaurant with my family now four times. The first and second visits were pretty good, great service, good food, and live music. My last two visits, however, were very dissapointing. Slow service during both visits.During the last visit, with my pregnant wife and my little daughter, I was served expired food. The salad dressing package that I recieved was pretty wrinkled, as if it had been at the bottom of a box. After looking for the expiration date and not finding it, I did pour it on my salad and stopped two bites in due to the taste. Something wasnt right. Looking closer at the package, I was able to find the date imprinted along the side. I was originally looking for print in ink... SIX MONTHS OLD!!! I alerted our server, and she took the package quickly from me before reporting it to her manager. To make this all worse, the manager turned in our direction while hearing what happened and immediately looked away when he caught my eye. He never even bothered to come by and speak!Needless to say, I will never be back and am very glad that it wasnt my wifes or daughters food in question.
Have been going there since they were next to Bally fitness. The food is good but unfortunately this time the food was cold and the service was terrible. They seemed to not care about us as customers. Will not go back. I chose 1 star because I couldnt give a zero. Very disappointing!
Some of the worst service ever experienced. I know I am not an expensive dresser, but my friend and I were sat in the entrance way. Had to get up to get more tea, ask the bus boy for napkins. Server seen once (to take order), food brought and tossed by mystery person, had to ask (repeatedly) for check. When I got my check (after basically serving myself) I tipped appropriately.... The waiter (who had been sitting and hanging out the whole time) then SLAMMED the book so loudly that several people jumped- we could hear him cursing (well I assume) in spanish. No service? NO tip. I am afraid to ever go back to the restaurant for fear of glass in my food. so many great places to eat in the area- I will never go back. ever.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD!!! Went out to eat on 9/12 with two friends. my bill came to $11.68. When I looked at my bank account, I see that I was charged $32.47. Both friends had excess charges on their accounts from this restaurant. One was charged twice for two different amounts and the other was charged 4 times. 2022-07-06I would say this is an okay place for some Tex-Mex food. The Horchata taste was really good but wasnt mixed correctly so we had to keep mixing before taking a sip.The Tortilla Soup was the best out of the food I ordered, very cheesy and flavorful. The main entrees were just okay. Dont taste bad but dont taste particularly good either. Specifically, the meat and bean in my enchillada were cooked well and tasty, but the rice didnt have much flavor and tenderness. The servers were very nice and the place was clean and looks okay, but the atmosphere was a little dull. The tortilla chips and salsa as appertizer was a plus! The portion size for kid is very generous though.Would definitely recommend their soups.

2022-01-15I come here at least twice a month and the food and drinks are always excellent. I love coming here especially when it’s so close to my job. The other day we had a newer waitress, I believe her name was Juliana? She did an excellent job and took great care of our table. I am very happy with my experience there!

2022-02-13Always a good experience. I did my valentines date here this year. We got a pitcher of the frozen Texas margarita. Amazing, great flavor and even better pour. The guacamole was mind blowing. Huge chunks of avocado, blended with hearty chunks of tomato and cilantro. All and all, 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and a huge pitcher of top shelf margaritas only ran 73 and some change. They even had roses on the table.

2022-05-13El portón is good if you like Tex-Mex which a lot of people do. But for my taste I prefer the real Mexican food. But on this occasion I said I’ll give it a shot with an open mind. I ordered the nachos my go to and I was sadly disappointed the cheese sauce was just way to runny for me. The chips and salsa were good and service was good so that’s why I gave it a 3 star. I mostly likely will not be coming back through. On to the next one!

2022-01-25I love this restaurant, I work down the street from it and theyre my go to when I have a craving for Mexican. I unfortunately have to give three stars because there is a BIG difference between dining in and take out. Dining in the food is always fresh and hot, big portions, such friendly service. Its overall a great experience. However Ive tried take out a couple times and have been disappointed each time. Food is cold even though I pick it up in 15 minutes. Portions are stingy, if I get nachos its a few chips, barely any cheese and piled on meat. You go to a drive thru line and they typically take 20+ minutes to greet you. When I tried once to go inside to pick up, I let them know no one came out to me, the parking lot wasnt full, they didnt seem very busy. I was told if its pick up I have to go to the line and wait, sometimes they get too busy to check on the pick up line. I recommend this restaurant, just not pick up.

2022-06-26The restaurant is nice in appearance and the bathrooms were clean, but the service was subpar to be honest. We were sat near the bar and although it seemed relatively slow business wise our waitress still seemed agitated when we asked for extra napkins, etc. We had to repeatedly remind her that we had request certain condiments and it wasn’t till we were halfway through our meal that we received the requested items. The salsa left a lot to be desired. Hard tacos were served but they sat them on top of the burrito sauce which meant that the hard tacos were soggy. Our ice water was served with minimal ice and in this Georgia heat we were drinking room temperature water within a week minutes. All the plates were cold with the exception of the plate my taco salad was served upon. My salad plate was so hot that it burnt me. The food quality and the portion sizes are not worth the prices you’ll pay here. I can’t foresee me choosing to return to this restaurant.

2022-05-05Overall the food wasnt bad but the server we had was not good. I think his name was Mike or Michael. He seemed annoyed with us from the second we sat down. Gave entirely to much information about the menu and when we tried to order he was trying to talk us out of what we chose to higher priced items. We ended up spending over $80 for three people to eat with one drink. And the food wasnt all that great either pretty bland. Not a lot of flavor.

2020-10-23Pretty good food. They have outdoor seating as well. Social distancing is a bit iffy. They did not have a table blocked off like some other restaurants. The servers are all pretty good thought. And the service is generally very fast. Went on a Thursday night and it was quite packed so be prepared for that...

2022-04-25The food we ordered, that was presented, was very good as we are accustomed to. The problem was that I only received one of the two items I ordered as did my wife. Sadly, the waitress just didnt seem to understand the menu. I can only guess since we had no special instructions.
