Placed an order today , first time ever coming here . The line was wrapped around the building so I took that as a good sign . . . WRONG!I ordered 3 carne asada tacos , 2 barbacoa tacos, & rice and beans. Totaling $20. Waste of money , none of the meat had flavor/seasoning, the tortilla was soggy and falling apart, there was no onion or cilantro in any of my tacos just big chunks of meat. So very disappointing, it went directly to the trash. Even the red hot sauce & green sauce was bland . Just an ewww experience all around smh
BEWARE!I went today 6/29/2022 and was shocked at all the flies at the register area near the cooking site. I immediately left. And the workers didn’t attempt to kill them.I will not be returning never. My daughter mention she went to the one on Cobb and had food poisoning. They have went bad.
Oh my God, good Mexican food in the south?! I have been given new hope! Got to order in Spanish, which also made me happy. Tacos are eh to go, but the Chile Rellano made up for it. If you like cheese get That one. Quesadilla was fantastic meat was everything I wanted but they were out of carnitas which was sad. Those churros are the perfect end to a meal, get 2 different flavors and eat them together, youll be thankful you did.
They are prejudice piece of ****. Which is crazy given the status of our country. This is not the first time we experienced this. The cashier started making fun of my girlfriend because she is Mexican but not strong in Spanish. I’ve gone by myself a few times and never experienced any disrespect. This time I had enough because she was whispering to her coworker while folding napkins and he just starts laughing super loud and staring. So I decided to just stare back the entire time and he stopped and just stares at the ground the entire time. Place is decent food but there is no place for that.
I called to place an order and the woman answering the phone was really rude, she asked if I was registered in their system and I said I think so, then she she said if I was registered or not, to hurry up that she was not going to waste her time with me, in an extremely hostile tone, I guess I am not calling again, this person needs some serious training and therapy.
My husband and I came to this establishment and the two young ladies never asked if they could help us or take our order. They just stood there? My husband said can I order something. One of the ladies looked as if she didnt understand what he stated. Very interesting...I guess they serve African Americans 🤷🏾♀️. For 7mins and you never approach the customer at all!!! Never have to worry about receiving our money!
Love this place. Only one I know where you can get authentic breakfast tacos. My favorite is the chile rellano taco and I add that green creamy spicy sauce. They even have horchata and Jarritos! Anthony Bourdain visited last May and loved their tacos as well so you dont have to take my word for it.
This was my 1st time eating here. The food was very good. I had the ribs and brisket collared greens and potato salad. The brisket was very tender the greens were fresh and really good (not out a can) the potatoe salad was southern made the rack could have been more tender a bit dry but I tribute that to being late afternoon ribs are best at 11 am to 1pm just out the smoker or 5-7 fir dinner batch. I would definitely go again 🌷👍🏾
This place used to be a great spot for authentic Mexican. I wont one star them because they used to be so great and maybe could bounce back, but lately the meat has a lot of gristle and the last time we went they just had several baking sheets of raw chicken sitting unrefrigerated on racks.
Im originally from the Southwest U.S. and frankly theres no good Mexican food in Atlanta in my opinion. I hate it. Except El Taco Veloz. This is the closest Ive gotten to what I miss back home. Im pretty simple. Bean and cheese burritos, cheese quesadillas, chips and salsa, and I love theirs.
Food overall was okay. Nothing special in my opinion. I’m sure they have lots of clients and business. So I don’t understand why the restaurant is actually pretty dirty. Lots of flies everywhere, condiment table dirty, floor very dirty as well. Somebody was cleaning the place up when we were eating. But my thoughts are why do you let it get that dirty in the first place? More than likely will not be returning.
That was rough. We ordered two quesadillas, a burrito, and cheese dip.Quesadillas: You have to pay extra for cheese (without paying extra, you get *just* enough to hold the quesadilla together… sort of) and sour cream (ours didn’t come.)The included items (onions, lettuce, etc.) came on the side, so you had to peel the quesadilla apart to put them on. Also, I’ve never had to blot a quesadilla like a pizza before.Burrito: He said it was alright.Cheese dip & chips: The chips were thick and SWEET. It was like they took churro batter and compressed it to make chips. It actually made us feel sick to our stomachs and we grabbed some left over party tortilla chips from our cabinet to eat more cheese dip. The cheese dip itself was okay but below average - I’ve never had leftover cheese dip before, but we didn’t finish this one.Note: Ordered through DoorDash.
Food is good but there are better tacos up the road. Prices are never the same. Was charged $22 for two pastor tacos and asada torta and 1 jarritos. Brought this to their attention and they said they would correct it and asked me to pull forward past the window to wait on my food. took 25 minutes to get my food and the person accidentally threw away my receipt.Saw the OVERcharge post today on my card.Be mindful of these guys... Im not going back.
I wrote a comment about the horrible customer service I received about 2 months ago, I decided to give them a second chance hoping the service had changed, It has not!! The food is good BUT there are several Mexican food places a little further from me, I rather drive a mile or so further than deal with horrible service. Ironically its always the SAME LADY AND I think shes the manager!!! SMHI give it 2 stars instead of less because of the other hard working people that work there and show appreciation for their customers!
I would rate them a 5 each and every time just for the food quality off the chain Lovett have for over 30 years. Its the service I think the ladies that take your order or rude I think people should be able to speak English I continually have to repeat my order. And they always think Im crazy when I asked for extra salsa I think I spend enough money Im spending almost $30 or more sometimes I should get the salsa that I need they always seemed very stingy with that that is the only reason why Im writing them of three instead of A5 service and attention again to detail is lacking
I have absolutely no clue how this place has good ratings. It is authentic just because they have lingua or something??? Food was bad. Very poor quality. Cheese especially bad quality. Cheap garbage anyone can throw together. Not worth the price. Not to mention they are stingy as hell with napkins even though I had two children with me and we had nachos as part of the order that were messy and put together with little care. To top it off BOTH bathrooms were “out of service.”Complete trash. Waste of money.
I have tried this place over 4 times trying to hold out hope because Anthony Bourdain loved it back in the day. But everytime it falls flat. The meat is very underseasoned. Normally Al Pastor is flavorful due to it being marinated pork you can barely taste any spices or flavor. I tried the pastor nachos and tacos, chorizo burrito, carne Asada tacos, the stiffed pepper tacos and still not satisfied, sorry but this is not great Mexican food.
I asked for a chicken quesadilla with extra cheese, green peppers, onions, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. But what I received was a chicken quesadilla with absolutely zero cheese, tomatoes on top, lettuce and onions and jalapenos on the side, then in a separate container was chopped onions with cilantro, and a tiny plastic container with sour cream. Also received a large bag of chips with a giant container of guacamole. So a quesadilla with a drink cost me over $18 and was not even close to what I asked for. Ugh.
Great Food. Enough Said!I had the tongue burrito especial and my wife had the beef burrito and a shrimp taco. They were both awesome. Their three different sauces are superb. Their free jalapeno poppers are, well, amazing. When I used to live in Atlanta, I ate here every week. If you want grey Mexican food, go where the Mexicans eat: El Taco Veloz!
This is a Spanish place where the Spanish also eat, thats when you know its good. I do not speak spanish, but it helps when readings the menu and ordering. I like you can buy a half Avacado with your meal. Great food. The food was great as expected! Just the crew doesnt speak English well so communication may be difficult.
Love coming here! Their food is so authentic and amazing! Nice inside area to sit down and eat. There is a small patio also if you want to sit outside. They have all different kinds of meats and different cuts from the animal. If you have never tried lengua, give their taco a try! Adventure and try something new, youll be happy you did!
One of the best spots in Atlanta for authentic Mexican food. The prices are great. The portions are awesome. Careful with the salsa bar if you dont have a tolerance for spicy foods. I love the super nachos. Enough food for two. Delicious juices and drinks. Dont think they serve alcohol.
El taco veloz is my go to restaurant for a quick taco or burrito nowadays. Boy am I picky when it comes to authentic mexican food and this place hits every single time. Theres even a drive thru for you to get your food!I recommend getting a carne asada burrito or a taco al pastor. Make sure to pair it up with a horchata.Everything here slaps
I have been enjoying their food at this location for a number of years. The staff, especially Laura and Mati, are super friendly and the food, consistently good. The menu is not the generic tex mex thank goodness, and offers freshly cooked items not found elsewhere. To venture out here will not disappoint.
Disclaimer: I only go here for take-out. The service can be a little slow and the drive-through speaker system could definitely use an upgrade. However, the food is outstanding, the prices are good and they never disappoint. They also cater if you work with them - their chorizo tacos were a huge hit for our wedding!
I love this place. Trying to stay on my toes with what Spanish I know so that I can be polite to the sweet people working here and continue getting amazing tacos here. Pescado a la plancha for the win! So good. And the breakfast tacos got me wanting to wake up early and do breakfast here too.
One of my favorite restaurants for authentic Mexican food in Atlanta. Extremely affordable, always fast for a quick bite at lunch, and delicious. I usually stick to the tacos because theyre so good I cant get myself to venture into the other parts of the menu, but you will see many people in the restaurant with all types of dishes
I was told to expect the best tacos Id ever eaten, but even if my expectations werent set so high ahead of time, Id still only be rating these tacos at three stars.I went during lunch time. The restaurant was busy.. My friend and I ordered our food to go, though we did manage to find a seat while we waited. The building looks like its not kept up very well, other inside and out. It feels dirty. I did like the authentic Mexican feel of the place, though. The employees speak primarily Spanish, even when calling out ticket numbers to the waiting guests. And they seem to know enough English to get by if someone isnt able to speak Spanish at all.I ordered one shrimp taco, one fish, and one barbacoa. My friend ordered two fish and one tongue. All of the tacos were good, but none were truly great. The toppings and meats were well thought out and tasted good together, but the shells themselves left a lot to be desired. They were all soft, white shells that were a little lumpy. I believe they were made with corn, but it was hard to tell. For my barbacoa taco, the shell was very wet. It felt and tasted soggy. The meats werent bad, but they also didnt taste like the chef level food I was expecting. There are signs in the restaurant stating that they have the best tacos in Atlanta, and that chefs eat there. I find both statements hard to believe, unless they shut the place down, clean it up, and serve a private meal when a chef stops by. Maybe it was just because they were busy at the the, but the food really just wasnt very impressive to me.
I gave one star only because it was the lowest possible option. Food is flavorless and limp. All we had were tacos and they were horrible. We asked for sour cream for the nasty tacos, were charged for a spoonful, and the sour cream was warm and separating like it was out of date. We took it back and asked for fresh sour cream and they gave us attitude. What a waste of money. We wont be returning. I wouldnt suggest this place to anyone.
Are the tacos awesome? Yes! Is it no frills? Yes. Should expect good service? No. Is the food amazing? Yes. Walk in, look at menu board, prefer tacos, they call your number, you pick up said tacos, get some salsa, eat the tacos. 4 awesome tacos for less than $9. I just told like 3 people.
We came here with a friend that had recently moved into the area. There was plenty of staff at the counter. It looks like a rustic road side restaurant with a few televisions mounted to watch. The food was ok nothing spectacular. It was lacking in seasoning which seems to be a problem with Mexican restaurants that are used to a variety of patrons. Seats are a somewhat uncomfortable booth. It was filling but a little on the high side price wise for the amount and quality.
Pedi una torta de carne al pastor y era pura grasa con trosos de carne. Como tocino medio crudo con sason. La calidad de la comida ha bajado mucho. I ordered a torta with al pastor meat and it was mostly fat trimmings with a bit of meat on it. Like undercooked bacon. Not returning anymore I have tried to give them a couple of chances but the quaility of the food has gone down hill.
This place is the worst food place in sandy springs. As you walk up to the place it aways smells like something dead outside, the back/kitchen of the place looks disgusting. the food is okay Ive had it before and Ive had better.I was starving tonight and I decided to walk in besides the fact that i knew the food wouldnt be all thats, but what really made me walk away for good was the horrible Customer service. The lady looked at me rolled her eyes and kept bagging up the rest of the orders then turns around and still doesnt even say good evening. Hi. may I help you, or can I take your order the lady just stared at me. with the most stank face like she didnt want me there. that was the bottom line for me. I will never even think about this place and I live across the street. i work for a small restaurant so I know what the standards are.
By far the worst tacos Ive ever had. Stay away. The tortilla was soggy and falling apart. The whole order was wrong. I honestly dont know how this place is in business. Just moved here from Texas and they couldve had a customer for life. Instead, it went in the garbage. Down right disgusted. Mexico would be embarrassed.
I got ordered a steak Quesadilla it was not enough cheese to meat ratio. More cheese then met. The steak was cooked entirely too hard making it dried out and there was no seasoning. Then most times a Quesadilla comes with a side of sour cream and/or salsa. I asked for sour cream only thing I have too pay .54 just for sour cream. When sour cream has always been a garnish or side item at any restaurant. Not sure whats wrong with this place but obviously they really doubt know what the food industry consist of. This company just wants to seem as if they are doing something. Its about quality not quantity.
This amazing little authentic Mexican restaurant was awesome! If youre looking for authentic Mexican food in Atlanta this is the place to go! The only downside was it was extremely warm inside I dont know if the AC was broke when I was there or if they dont have any but it was very hot I recommend getting food to go.
The best tacos Ive had in this town. Not the best Ive EVER had but easily the overall best Ive had in Atlanta so far.Your basic taqueria. Looks pretty run down outside but is always clean with friendly staff who dont seem to mind my inflicting my embarrassingly weak spanish upon them.Basic ingredients done well. Fair prices. About the level of service youd expect from fast food - competent amd genial but no frills.I eat here way too often
We had dinner one night pretty late so it is great that they open until midnight. I had the tounge and tripa. Tounge is actuality quite good but tripa is okay. My husband got the wrong order. He wanted a carne asada plate but just got two tacos instead. Maybe it was due to a language problem. He said they were just fine. I dont like the lady who took our order. I know it was pretty late but we didnt get the food for free. Please at least have a bit happiness in your voice. I will still come back if I am super late for dinnertime.
Authentic Mexican street tacos in what looks like an old, unassuming Pizza Hut. Dont let the appearance fool you though, these are some legit tacos, burritos, tortas, and quesadillas! The salsa bar has an assortment of three spicy, rich salsas, fresh cilantro and white onions, pickled jalapenos, and limes. If youre in the area definitely seeing in for some tacos. Thes a convenient drive thru, as the place gets quite packed at lunch and there is limited parking. Finally, in case youre wondering and like me with your taco choices... YES THEY HAVE LINGUA!!! 😁
Delicious and quick Mexican food! The pastor pork, Carne Asada, and barbecoa are delicious. I often crave their dishes specially. Their drive thru is quick enough for custom made orders. The verde salsa is authentic, made in house, and has the perfect heat. Hoping to try their new churros soon.
Ive been eating here with my boyfriend at least 1-3 times every month for the past year. Its definitely a staple. Dont let the appearance keep you from having the best food on the corner--It is absolutely worth it!I recommend flautas, chorizo breakfast burrito, carne asada taco, and chille relleno burrito. Also for dessert they have the best cream filled churros! They come in different flavors. They have bottled sodas as well as fountain drinks and other treats.Next time you find yourself sitting at the red light at lake placid and Roswell road, pull in!SO WORTH IT. If you love Mexican food, youll be hooked.
WOW!!! Horrible customer service ! 12/04/2020 @ 6:30pm guy exhaled so loud over the speaker and had no customer service and screamed “CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER?!” did not even order after that I just left that experience itself was horrible no thanks wish we could have tried the food easily will drive to don Pedro for better service.
THE BEST BURRITOS DE LENGUA Ive had in the longest time! I rarely go for Mexican food because I can make it home better than nost places. Taco Veloz was SO worth the drive from Conyers! Delicious salsa verde, generous chunks of tender lengua múy delicioso, and the chips are made fresh right there. We will definitely be back!
MY Personal Favorite restaurant in Atlanta. When we need to get lockboxes down the street, I act as if it is a huge inconvenience at the office when in fact, my mouth is already watering for the bean burrito! I can not go to Roswell Road now without my car driving itself to El Taco Veloz!
This is a place where the locals eats, it is fast service with traditional mexican flavor, they offer mexican sodas and flavored waters too.My favorites are the super burrito with carnitas(pork), puerco en salsa verde plate(pork in tomatillo sauce) and for tacos I like the barbacoa(shreded beef), carnitas(pork) and carne asada(beef)
Im always order food in this place,For my surprise this morning try to order some food,They ask me if i was registered in ther system,Whats i say no,I tell them i give you my name phone number and credit card to pay,They denied and say only personal,Ridiculous poor service, last orders They give more tortilla than meat.
Im not sure what is it..the grill or the meat provider...de seasoning or the cookBut this tacos are very unique and delicious the only star missing is that the place hasnt been renovated in years.Check the wplo sign in the refrigeratorCarne asada and child relleno a must try.
Until today I loved the food.I ordered a Bar b coa burrito only to bite down on to an animal tooth. Needless to say that I was grossed out to find this. Dont think I will be back. This is very difficult to understand and to overcome.Terribly disappointed.R. Eyzaguirre
Chile. Relleno. Burritos.Do you really need more words than that? Their barbacoa, beans, and pico de gallo/salsa are also pretty much the best.Amazing salsa bar with fresh cilantro and onion and an amazing avocado based hot sauce.Cheap, friendly, and theres usually more people speaking Spanish in than otherwise.Pretty much the only complaint I have is that sometimes the chips are the best Ive ever had, but sometimes theyre not good at all.
This place is located right off the interstate two lights to the left it was once on the Food Channel Anthony Bourdain once visited for episode of this cooking show this place is very authentic it is not the best as far as cleanliness but pretty good overall when it comes to the food and very friendly service

2022-04-02We drove by here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm and decided to give it a try. Parking is ok, we got the last spot. This place was pumping. Hubby ordered the three taco plate; carne asada, chicken and beef. I ordered a carne asada burrito w rice and beans on the side. Our meals weren’t bad, but they weren’t that good either. We washed our meals down w “Mexican” bottled Cokes. I always love a good Coke.

2021-12-02You have to love this hidden gem on Roswell Road. While on the main road right near the Prado Shopping center, you might drive right past the yellow building and never see it. Well all I can tell you is look for it and make sure you stop if you want true authentic mexican food that is top notch, affordable, and the staff are awesome. The Chorizo Breakfast Burrito, pictured, is amazing. Everything is fresh made, so if you dont call ahead just denote this isnt fast food, this is food made right when you order it. Ive been here at least 10 times in the past 5 months and the consistency in the quality and the top notch service from the staff is there every time. They do have a drive through that is available as well if you like, just note again you have to wait a tad compared to fast food cause they are cooking it to order every time. Also, while the building might not look the best, check out the health score, its 100 and their past 3 years has never been under an A on their rating. Highly Recommended and looking forward to going back again in the future, and please make sure to tip the staff something for the awesome service and food you are about to consume!

2022-06-18I got the enchiladas. It was good. The tortilla was a bit dry. But over all, it was good. The complimentary sauces spiced up the enchilada well! Good quantity for the price.

2022-04-14Employees are always nice and friendly. The food is consistently good with fresh ingredients. The burritos and tacos are great. Found out about this place about 10yrs ago and have been frequenting ever since. The first location I tried was the Buford Hwy location and its great also.

2022-02-08Update: I ate here again and this time, the nachos were better. Plenty of beans, cheese, jalapeños, onions, and sour cream. And the horchata was pretty tasty too! Theres also a convenient drive thru thats popular at the lunch hour.Good but not great Mexican food. The super nachos couldve used more toppings and chips...too much cheese. And the arroz con leche was yellow...first time Ive ever seen that. Tasted alright but it was in a plastic cup, and not made on-site.

2022-04-06I wouldn’t roll in here at 9:45 PM expecting Michelin star-winning tacos at $3/ea. They were good enough. The pastor tasted better than the chicken.

2022-01-25I like to come here for the tacos and burritos, especially as they are open fairly late and have a drive through. However, the last time I went I discovered a bug stuck under the lid in the mango drink that I ordered. I called the restaurant regarding this issue but was hung up on.

2022-05-30The beef was very gristly meat. Way over priced. 15 plus for the steak with rice/ beans with ensalada. This place used to be much better. The original one on Buford highway was also a lot better.
