Fantastic as usual. Im still on a vegetarian diet so my meal has no meat in it. I was able to get the fajita casadillia minus the meat and i added mushrooms and pico di gallo. I didnt miss the meat at all in this meal. There was no push back on the substitutes or anything. I dont see it being an issue to make anything on their menu vegetarian friendly.

This is a very popular restaurant, recommended to me by my sister and my brother-in-law who apparently frequent this restaurant. Well I decided I wanted to order fish was hoping the fish actually came Mexican style meaning the whole fish season and deep fried. Instead I get three tilapia fillets as you will note in the pictures. Its supposed to come with lettuce lime in some other stuff to eat with it. Well I opted for beans. To my surprise all I got was three fish fillets and a plate full of cheesy beans. Nothing else to enjoy my Mexican meal with to even say it was a Mexican meal in a Mexican restaurant. No special spices on the fish just salt and breading.
Overpriced. Food was ok, nothing really stood out about it. Sign at register read no coupons. I think another El Vaquero, in Phenix city advertises with coupons.Id only return if I had a really good coupon.
This is my go to Mexican restaurant. Eat here often, sometimes once a week. Staff is always nice, service is pretty fast and food is good. Usually get fajitas, cheese and beef dip and guacamole dip.

El Vaquero remains to be my favorite mexican restaurant in Columbus. The food is affordable but delicious, the staff is polite, the building is nice, and theres hardly ever a wait time, no matter how full the restaurant may appear. I suggest the quesadilla, it will always be my favorite item on the menu.

Used to come here as a kid. Back when people could smoke in the restaurant. Its always been good every time I come home I grab some food here.
The food was so good!!! And my server was very attentive! I went for lunch and the prices felt like a steal. Not only that, the ambience of the space was beautiful. Lastly, the restaurant was super clean and inviting. Will definitely be returning again and again!

Me and my family of 4 were standing outside, at the door, seconds later a worker comes up and we thought he was going to walk out so we moved politely. He came to the doors and started to lock up the restaurant an HOUR EARLY! Very disrespectful, very rude and impolite, definitely will not be coming back to this restaurant again. 10/10 would NOT recommend, not to mention the terrible customer service and not giving someone a waiter 20 minutes after sitting down and still didn’t receive any drinks or anything. If you want good mexican good head over to El Carizzos , they’ll never do you wrong.
I went on a Saturday, it took 15-20 minutes for us to get our food. The line was long (out the door), I recommend making a reservation.The food and the service was great!The restaurant was clean and organized.

The food was absolutely amazing tasteful. They had me at the first bite. I ordered #61 and boy ohhhhhh boy was it good. The atmosphere was was awesome. People were chatting, laughing out loud. They had sports on T.V. showing highlights of our game from last night, we won!!! The place was neat. Great location. Servers were kind and courteous. I would highly recommend this restaurant 😋😋😋
We came here tonight to have dinner with friends and I loved it!! I got #67 but asked for chicken taco & enchilada. I love both of those but didn’t love the Chile Rellano. I also got the tableside guacamole and it was fantastic! My husband got the Carne Asada and said it was delicious. My friends got a steak quesadilla and steak fajitas and really enjoyed them too. I got a strawberry frozen margarita and absolutely loved it. My husband got a Yuengling beer and loved it and said it was the best. Had in a long time. We will definitely be back. The chips and salsa are both the green and the red salsa are fabulous too!

I cant even put into words that would adequately describe how good this place was. I will do my best though.We arrived after having left another Mexican restaurant after a very poor experience. The waitress was kind enough to refer us to El Vaquero. I wanted to drive back over to the other restaurant and give her a tip just for referring us there.I had the beef tip quesadilla and a shredded beef quesadilla. I ordered it with the fajita vegetables and OMG the shredded beef was BY FAR THE BEST Ive ever had. The beef was charred perfectly and as you can see there was zero grease present in the quesadilla. How they achieved this I do not know. It has me wanting to sell my house and move to Columbus just so we can make this our new weekly restaurant to attend.The cheese dip was great along with margaritas. We ordered a frozen pitcher to split between two of us and we were pleased with the fact that we were able to get what would be 2 medium cups each out of one pitcher. These margaritas pack a punch and taste great. (my picture had a napkin and a lime in it so I couldnt share that here)Lets just say we returned later that night to have another round of drinks and enjoy more cheese dip. Any trip we take near Columbus will have us stopping by this restaurant.They have additional parking across the street from the location and it was used while we were there quite a bit. We knew by this fact before we went in that we may very well be walking into the holy grail of Mexican restaurants. Looks werent deceiving either.

This was the absolute worst Mexican food Ive ever had. They charged me $6.75 for one Steak taco and when I was trying to get my bill situated the cashier was very nasty and rude. $20 and some change for a Gin and tonic, one taco, and tamale. It wasnt great at all.

Really great place for some traditional Mexican food. Service was very good. Menu is large and prices are industry standard. We had drinks including Margaritas and they were fantastic! Food was good and came out quick. Overall really enjoyed this place and would recommend.

It was hot and delicious and the staff was very attentive to our needs.
I spent over $50 on take out and got home that is 30 minutes away to find out that I was missing 25% of my order. I then called and had to go through 50 questions. I guess they didnt believe me, even though I had my transaction number. It didnt get resolved in any way. Not even a apology.

I had my daughters baby shower here yesterday. We had a large group, even though they were hesitant on giving us the whole back room because they didnt think that many people would show up, they did anyhow and we filled it up! We all had a great time. Food was great, the ones who drank enjoyed their drinks and I wish I had gotten our servers name to give him a shout out. He kept up with everyone, got everyones order right and just did an outstanding job at keeping up with such a large group. Big thanks to the manager Raphael for allowing our big group to come in and enjoy our time celebrating such a special event at your location!
If you want good margaritas or fast/good Mexican food, this is the place to go. A pitcher of them top shelf margs will get cha. Moved here from New Mexico so its not quite the same as home.. but its still a good restaurant and I wont discredit them for having different recipes and tastes. 10/10 recommend. The service is always very fast and Ive never left disappointed. 💯Granted there is a SLIGHT language barrier if youre not used to Spanish speakers, so repeat your order to them because this place is ALWAYS poppin so its loud anyway, but also because you want them to get your order correct. With the service, food and drink quality I have no issues spending more or tipping here. 👌🏼

Best mexican in columbus by far. Try the fried jalapenos.Update..service downhill April 2022. Waitress stuck us right next to a HUGE party with kids..even though so many other open booths..also..she showed up ONCE after she delivered our food. No re fills.
This was my 1st time going to this location, hands down by far it is the best. Our food was great, or service was phenomenal. I truly had no complaints. Good place for margaritas with friends and family.

Just wanted to say thank you to Alex, and the staff for helping me surprise my parents tonight. I called in from CA with a (strange 😜) request. My parents were visiting with some friends and I wanted to pick up the bill. Alex texted me a photo after I described them, and promptly took my credit card info over the phone. I truly appreciate the kindness in helping me, and my parents said the food was delicious!
The food was good but the service was lousy. They forgot my daughters order, they let my ice cream cake melt, they had to be told to bring silverware, our drinks stayed empty and it took 30 mina before anything ever got done. Plus, they would bring out a tea picter and make us poor it. I am.vwey surprised they even got a tip.

We were seated very quickly and lots of space/room between our group and other diners. Waiter was very quick and checked on us regularly. Good food with quick service. I got the chimi changa with beef. The beef was shredded up and have a much better taste than hamburger meat. Only thing not great was the cheese dip. It was so watery like colored water.
The food was delicious as always! Sadly, no matter the location, they always have plumbing problems that allow the drain in their restroom to emit a smell of sewage - even when it is otherwise clean.

A week ago I would have gave this place a million stars! I ate here weekly as does my friends and family! But after today, I will never go back. I was screamed at by my waitor who turned out to be the OWNER! because I ordered something that Ive ordered ever week that apparently isnt on the menu..Grilled chicken Happy plate... who would have known! he hollered at me so loud that tables were staring! he was mad at his employees and felt the need to scream at me. then screamed at my friend who was with me. U have lost our business from this day forward !
Guacamole lacked key ingredients like pico de gallo but tasted okay. Dinner was good but some of the dishes are bland. Service by wait staff is why this is 4 instead of 3. They did well in serving.

Wednesday night is one of their busier nights and we had a large party, so there was a long wait to get seated. However, the jalapeño margaritas we got at the bar kept me distracted. Our waiter Omar took great care of us once we got our table and the food was everything.
Food is always good. Service is excellent. All the food is fresh and flavorful. Perfect for a date night or an outing with friends or family. Service is fast. One of my favorite places to eat in Columbus. Also the margaritas are great!!!

💚💚OMG let me tell you about the service here. IT IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD, THE LADY AT THE CASH REGISTER IS ONE OF THE MOST CONSIDERATE, CARING, PROFFESIONAL I HAVE EVER MET. Yes I just had to go bold on that statement. Lol The food is spectacular, and so is the environment even down to the person who will greet you to seat you. Good food at reasonable prices. The stuffed peppers were excessively cheesy, and there wasnt a truly unique special on the menu. But everyone enjoyed their meal, and our waitress kept the chips, salsa, and drinks coming for us. What more do you need from a place like this?

We have ordered take out several times and food has been good and the order is accurate. Pick up is easy. Staff wears masks however Unfortunately I noticed customers walking in and out and around restaurant with no masks on.

I have to give five stars because usually my top shelf Margaritas are great! Depending on who makes them. Also they have been here for years now. But like I said, I been going here and almost every time I witnessed waiters allowing underage female girls buy alcohol drinks without even getting their ID checked. Unbelievable but I have seen it happen several times especially on the weekends AND the females being inappropriately dressed.

Not my favorite meal. The Shrimp diablo was more sweet then spicy, not what I expected. We ordered shrimp tacos for our granddaughter and she didnt want cheese or tomatoes so they brought her plain shrimp not seasoned in a tortilla shell. Even my 7 year old said it needed seasoning. Thats saying a lot.

This is my preferred Mexican spot on the north side. I think its better than El Carrizo, but not by much. Service is always friendly. Wide variety of options on the menu and I liked their beer selection. No real critiques, but its not elite level Mexican food so I didnt give it 5 stars. Definitely check it out if youre feeling Mexican food
Food was very fast and tasty! Lots of it too, so why a three star? We walked in the lady at the front entrance hardly could be bothered to look up from her phone! The waiter, if you dont like people this probably isnt the job for you. The guy that I was with asked for chicken nachos, he said nope we have beef, ok he will have beef but then he did see it on the menu as he rushed us along. Once the food came he never checked on us again. Its a shame that the people are what let the good food down. Tighten up on the staff and you would have it all figured out!

Considering the price, time management, and hospitality this place is perfect. In aspects of food quality. Never had an issue with my meal. I just would recommend taking more time to cook the food. I was food poisoned for the first time by them. Which me and my family have been a fan for years. Always room for improvement.

Hate to say it..but our service was terrible.It was not busy at all. We were doing a birthday dinner. And we waited for our food for over 45 minutes. Had to continually ask for things we had ordered. Maybe we had a new server . I dont know. Never had such awful service before.
We have had good dining experiences here before. Yesterday that was not the case. We were seated at a booth in a bar area and as it turned out the bartender was our server. Without beverages we could not eat the chips & salsa brought immediately to our table by a runner. It took a very long time for bartender/server to come take our drink orders, so long that we were also ready to order food after having had time to consider the entire menu. My water was right but my husband, who minds his sugar, got sweet tea instead of unsweet. Our shrimp dishes arrived with some of shrimp still wearing their shells & legs. We were unable to get attention of our server/bartender, or any other passing employee, to correct these issues as all seemed to be willfully ignoring our presence.

Were to start with this review? Okay only good thing was that they took reservations and since it was s party of 15 we decided here. The waiter was rude and didnt come back often ran out of chips, hot sauce, drinks. When the food came out everything was wrong they brought out an enchilada with no sauce. The nachos were just throw on plate with hardly any toppings. The meat was over cooked. Sadly was not a good experience.

Amazing food and huge margaritas for cheap. We came with a group of eight and they were able to accommodate us right away. We loved the cuisine and the staff was very friendly. Word to the wise, only have one margarita or youre going to need someone to drive you home!

I dont know of this facility uses for top shelf margaritas but definitely not top shelf Flavor. Had to see my case of the year back look at the chicken was extremely dry and hard. Management Had no problem Re preparing my Order good for that.

I had the Alhambra. The meat did not smell fresh. We were seated quickly but had to wait about 10 minutes to get a drink order in. Ordered the guacamole as a side and there was not a piece of avocado in it. Definitely packaged guac, more like a guacamole paste. Wouldnt return.
This is our favorite Mexican place by a nose. The food is not the best we have had but it is very good. It is the combination of food, price, service, drinks, and atmosphere that make this place good. It is very popular for that reason, so be prepared for a crowd. Dont worry, it is a large place and they serve quickly so the waits are brief.

Was seated pretty quickly, Got stuck in an area full of unsupervised kids. The chips and salsa were cold and old. My husband ordered Steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas they were cold and burnt. I ordered Chorizo con Huevos they were burnt.... Sent it back and substituted for pork chops.... 😱 They were undercooked and had a strong smell... NEVER EVER AGAIN.... Also not one person was apologetic... Instead they were looking upset that I didnt want to pay for my meal. Paid the bill and got the hell outta there 🏃🏽♀️

The chips here are always stale and hard with no flavor. Their queso is so watered down it wont stay on your chip and the stake was so fatty, hard and chewy in my taco salad I had to send my food back. Their chicken they put with their fajitas taste pretty good, but the shredded chicken they put on my daughters food taste odd and looked like it came from a can. The wait staff is very nice, but hard to get a hold of at times. I always have to flag them down when my drink is empty, etc. Im just not a big fan. Some dishes are pretty good and others are bland and not good. Its hit and miss depending on the dish.
One of the best restaurants in the country, Im not just saying that, I am a truck driver and I love going around the country and sampling the Mexican cuisine... Food is great, servers are always kind, ... If you have a designated driver, you have got to try the Texas style Margarita here ... 1 Texas Margarita and you will be walking home or calling the Uber... But what a great drink !

You may have a 15-25 minute wait for a table on weekends, but once seated the servers are fast and attentive. The food is always served hot and fresh. Many people enjoy the mixed drinks and cheese dip for starters. The menu includes a few options that are adds a little flare to the typical Mexican dishes.

Food was hot and delicious. Location cannot be seen off road. There is ample free parking with updated overflow parking just added. Handicapped accessible parking. There is usually a wait. (25 to 30 mins) Restroom on premise. They have happy hour, bars, tvs, groups are welcome, spacious restaurant, etc.. No reservations needed.

I’m very disappointed by the authenticity of this place. Moving here from Texas, I expected better. Staff was rude and slow. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Sorry.

Ive been coming here for years and still love it. Its the classic Mexican food we all know, but its not what it used to be. Dont get me wrong, I still love this place and its delicious! Great staff, environment, and a great place to get some margaritas.
It was better when I was 9. Used to go here all the time but now its kind of a shell of what it used to be. They dont explain the system to new guests, and the food is a solid 6 because it wasnt gross. Wasnt amazing either. I got a shrimp burrito with rice and refried beans. It was less than what I expected. When I said shrimp burrito, I didnt expect them to fry some shrimp, roll it up and call it a burrito. Thats the menu I guess.

I am appalled at the negative reviews I have read here! Everyone who works here are very caring and if someone has a problem, all they have to do is bring it up to one of the employees. They will do anything to make your visit the best!
We go to this restaurant at least a couple of times per month. Food is always hot and tasty. My husband and I always enjoy a margarita with our dinner. Very affordable so we can take the whole family.
Review for 02/25. Woman taking calls was very rude, and places order in name on caller ID after she was given the name over the phone twice. When pick up order she didnt believe I was the person picking up and paying for order because she put on wrong name. I cant believe this service was allowed here, this was the spot, clearly its time to find another. Paying customer shouldnt be treated this way.

Just ordered food from here.. normally i go to el Carrizo bc better food, but when i ordered food from el vaquero i got charged for two quesadillas. Only got one. Ordered a sweet tea. Got unsweet. Requested my lettuce and beans for my fajitas on the side. Didn’t get them. Got a guac salad i didn’t order and some rice and beans i didn’t order too. Called up there and they told me it wasn’t their fault. 0/10 would not recommend.

Good, simple food. It doesnt blow me away but its yummy and consistent (I generally get tacos, flautas, and quesadillas). The margaritas are pretty good too, not the typical kind with too much mix. I know that when I go here, Ill enjoy my meal.
3 long hairs in the rice, then was told that it was my hair after I didnt eat the food because it was disgusting. I was accused of putting it in my food by the waitress. Never had a bad experience there before until now.
Fast service but no personal touch
El Vaquero has fast and friendly servers. Their serving sizes are very generous. They give you plenty of tortilla chip refills. My favorite Mexican restaurant.
The food was amazing but the service was not that great our server seemed like he couldnt be bothered to help us and when we were ordering it was like he was rushing to get away from the table. Overall would come back but would request another server.
Not a good experience at all
It was an ok Experience it was overcrowded our food orders were not correct. We received some.of our meals and not all the meal. Meaning we got fajitas but no shells to put the meat in. It took forever to get dirty dishes picked up. The food was good but the hassle was just a bit much.
Food is always excellent, never disappointed. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Waiter was extremely kind and pleasant. I always get the quesadilla, beef burrito with rice plate - it is heaven😚Thank you El Vaquero for being my favorite Mexican restaurant!

Always a great place to eat. Service can be iffy sometimes but good most of the time. Cant let one or two bad servers ruin it. Food is usually great. Sometimes very crowded but the above is the reason for that.

This is one the best restaurant you ever can find in town. I walked in i was not sure what to expect but the quality of their food, their staff and customer service were amazing. As a first time visiter I was lost in the menu. I did not get much help from the waiter regarding what I might have wanted to order and there were no images as to what the food might have looked like so obviously what i recieved did not impress. The food my firends ordered seemed alot better and there were not complaints amongst them

2022-07-10First time here. Seems to be pretty busy after church but still had fast service. Im very picky about my Mexican American Restaurants as my favorite is in NC but this one was good! Cheese dip and chips was delicious. Had cheese dip, fajita taco salad, Cancun burrito and 2 waters, $34. This place is a bit different in the fact that from what I can see, most dishes dont come with rice and beans and you have to order them separate but I dont mind cuz I had more room for my taco salad...lol. Overall good was good, good customer service and I would definitely come back!

2022-04-09Visited for dinner. Was seated quickly. Chips and salsa to the table were fresh. Food was very good as well as the margaritas and even dessert. Decent portions, friendly staff, quick service, decent size location. Even a small outdoor seating area. Would recommend.

2022-05-17This place is always packed! The food is tasty and made fresh. The top shelf and especiale margaritas are worth the trip alone but dont forget about the blue drink. The staff is friendly and they seem to work together like a well-oiled machine. Sitting at the bar is just as pleasant as sitting at a table or booth. Youll always see people celebrating a big event here as well but I would recommend calling ahead for truly large groups.

2021-06-21The service was fast and friendly. We were a party of three, on Fathers day, and was seated immediately by a nice hostess. The waitress was there in a matter of seconds to get our drink order and was prompt in returning with them. We are from out of town and this was our first visit. We had plenty of time to look over the menu and never felt rushed. I had a chicken chimichanga that was severed dry with the lettuce and tomato on the top, which I moved to the side. I requested melted cheese to go on top of the chimichanga and a salad dressing for the salad. Iasked if the salad could be exchanged for rice since I do not like Guacamole and sour cream. That seemed to be a problem. There was also a beef chimichanga ordered and the guacamole salad was on top of it, which was all cut up and eaten together. The other order was the fajita ultimate, which had chicken beef and shrimp. Is the sides were served on another plate. It seems that every Mexican restaurant has their own style and this was just different than what we are used to.

2022-05-24Came on a busy Thursday evening, and the parking lot still had parking in the back. Inside wasnt as packed, but they were still very busy. Wait staff were friendly, answered questions, and gave my mom a great 42nd birthday experience. Drinks werent notably weak or strong, but good value with the small margerita at about $6. Very happy that my fajitas werent sitting in oil! Great food, good prices, great atmosphere.

2022-04-26Ive been eating here for years! Never had a bad plate and all the workers are extremely nice. Management has been there for 20 yrs or more. Ive been coming since i was 12 way back in the 90s when they were only on macon road and in PC. Best Mexican restaurant in Georgia in my opinion. Will always eat there as a 1st preference when im in Columbus
