Really liked the 4 course dinner and dessert. All of the staff were professional and courteous with everyone being attentive. Nice and quiet ambiance with just the right lighting. There were many drink selections although I dont drink.Very nice place to dine so please dress appropriately.
I visited Epic during restaurant week. The restaurant was very clean. My team of wait staff all wore gloves and masks and the tables were spaced appropriately for Covid precautions. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was delicious and plated beautifully, the timing of each course was well executed. I didnt feel rushed, we were able to savor each dish before the next one came. I felt full and satisfied without being overly stuffed. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back for a special occasion.
I waited a few weeks after my visit as to leave emotion out of this review. First off, the staff is amazing. The lead bartender deserves awards for his cocktail program and service. But, the food and the decor are in need of some serious editing. This lovely space is cheapened by too many knickknacks including light up trees on the tables. The chef seems to have an abundance of creativity but lacks in execution and composition. The pork belly amuse was delicious. Things went downhill from there. The sweet potato chips on our Taste of Georgia board were not properly fried. Two of our four courses had tasteless, hard spaghetti noodles X’d atop the plates. The deconstructed Wellington was cooked well but lacked flavor. The passion fruit creme brûlée was delicious but oddly had plain currants on top. The raspberry and chocolate dessert had strange textures and tasteless white powder covering the plate. I am more than willing to pay for a nice meal but this was disappointing for the price. You’re much better off to drive on to Acre in Auburn, AL.
Excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing, the appetizers and entree’s were delicious, the service top notch, and the deserts fantastic. Dress appropriately! The restaurant is located at the back of the Eagle Phoenix-directions are listed in the pictures below. May be a bit confusing but remember to just follow the signs. Notice “Proper Attire Required” on door.
We went for a late valentines dinner and everything was amazing never had a multi course meal like that …. except for my deconstructed Beef Wellington even ordering it medium rare still came out on the dry side but overall everything, the service , ambiance, and food was definitely worth the experience. Can’t wait to go back .
Went for my anniversary a few weeks ago and had an amazing time. When i called for the reservation they asked the occasion and they had the table set up placed specifically for it. Frkm the beginning the staff was amazing and when the food came it was plated beautifully. The food was great and still very filling. At the end of the night they brought out a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. I am very excited to return
I emailed this hole in the wall and spoke with Melissa , who confirmed me a reservation at the chefs table for two. My date and I arrived, and they proceeded to act as if they never heard of me. I was also told, upon arrival, that I had to sign a contract to receive service! No one told me this in my email conversation!Ruined my date night. The vibe was off when we walked in, no one said hello to us, there were drunk men horse playing and wrestling in the lobby, and it smelled like an animal had recently been inside. I asked to speak with Jamie( the owner) and the server replied, “ He is busy, may I take a message?” I looked across the room, and saw Jamie and looked him in his eye. He was DRUNK instead of tending to his business. First impression. I was not impressed and I will advocate for every one to not support this place. DEFINITELY OVERPRICED FOR THE MEDIOCRITY.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it was AMAZING. The food and the experience were nothing I could’ve imagined. The service was timely but we didn’t feel rushed, and everything was beautifully plated. Yes it was pricey but it was so worth it for a special occasion. Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.
Took my daughter to dinner for her birthday on the 29th of December, we had a blast. Jamie and his crew always go above and beyound. Adam in the kitchen always gives a little extra touch to his cooking for sure. If you have never booked the chefs table in the kitchen that is a special must! I love this place and the staff!!
Had a reservation today for our anniversary. Got dressed to drive down to the restaurant to only find out the restaurant was closed due to a water leak. I gave them three stars because it’s not their fault and I have heard good things. BUT THE LEAST THEY COULD DO was text/call all with reservations and let them know. Especially since they had the time to text us about their dress code.UPDATE: The owner reached out to me and said she would send me a gift card that would cover a dinner for two.. But I never received the card. I tried calling the restaurant a few days ago but got no reply, left a voicemail, and still nothing! Hopefully she sees this and can reach out to me!
The people are very accommodating. The food is par at best. We did the fixed 4 course dinner last night had a party of 12 in a private room . The soup was cold. it took 2 hours to get to the second course by the time we were served the main course (tile fish) I doubt I had a 3 ounce serving of fish. overall the portions were small the food was cold. And the meal was no question overpriced for what you got. One and done.
My girlfriend’s birthday. I make reservations 3 days in advance, confirmed via email, with no mention that they expected to be exceptionally busy.We arrive to a lukewarm reception by the hostess. I tell her we have a reservation. She asks us to have a seat in the waiting area. Okay...there are clearly tables open that we can see. So, we have a seat at the bar. We get menus, but that’s it—no one asks for our drink order. The hostess tells us our table will be ready in about 5 mins and leaves. Another employee asks what time our reservation was for—730, I tell him. He goes to check something and comes back, but seats a couple that had just walked in and told us they didn’t have a reservation! We walked out and were halfway down the block when the hostess hollers after us that she could seat us now. Thanks for ruining our night, Epic! Very unprofessional experience at a place that prides itself on being a first-class dining experience.Update 27JUL2021: 3/4 stars. The above was written within a few days of our last experience. Upon reflecting, and to frame the restaurant perhaps more accurately, we ate there—successfully and pleasantly—3 times over the course of three years. Once even at the chef’s table. Each time was quite elegant and delicious. To be sure, our experience at the Chef’s table was one of a kind and we will remember it, fondly, for years. The dishes were original and superb, and paired excellently with the wine. To be sure, we were taken off guard by our last experience, or lack thereof, documented above. I’m sure it was not indicative of standard post-COVID experience, or at least, I hope it was not. Give Epic a try, you probably won’t be disappointed, at least not by the food.
Excellent service but the food was disappointing considering the price. The menu is confusing, as it is not written literally. One example, the word or on the menu means and for whatever reason. Most hot items were served a little above room temperature. The alligator was dry and tough. The duck was extremely chewy. Some of the flavor combinations were not cohesive. Overall disappointed as I was really expecting something great.
The food was lacking basic seasoning such as salt and pepper. The portions were small. The sauces didnt mesh at all. The place was practically dead and now I see why. Its a one and done restaurant. People try it once because of all the hype and then they never return. For a restaurant to be located underneath luxury apartments and barely have patrons says it all. Dont waste your money. Go to Buckhead instead.
Pretty dissapointing. The wait staff was young and had no knowledge of food. The food was par at best. The only saving grace to the underseasoned dishes that lacked any sort of cohesive flavor profiles was the kangaroo. I expected a much different experience for the hype and price. Its unfortunate the amount money we spent there.
My spouse and I loved our dinner there. We got an early reservation so were able to have the fixed price menu, this allowed us to eat there on a budget. We ordered a cheese board that was delicious. The first course the shrimp was perfectly cooked. Main course was a large and tasty portion. And the desert was wonderful as well. We were even offered a quick tour of the kitchen.
My husband and I extremely enjoyed our dining experience at the Chef’s Table tonight. Jamie Keating and company made our night truly unforgettable with lots of laughs, lots of wine, a little 90s rap, and the most delicious food we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! We enjoyed 8 courses and three hours of their company. I highly recommend this experience if you are a foody like we are or if you just want to step outside of the box! Do it! You won’t regret it! XOXOXO!
From my experience making a reservation, to the service I received in the dining room, to the quality and presentation of the food, I had a marvelous experience. They even invited me on a kitchen tour! Which I totally did and loved. Epic was truly epic. They deserve the 4 diamond rating that they have with AAA. Great work Jamie and all of your staff. Thank you for making my first experience in Columbus memorable.
This was a great dining experience. I highly recommend. Food was outstanding and very creative. The staff were all very friendly and personable and the service was great. They do several unexpected little extras at this restaurant- its clear that they are focused on creating an exceptional dining experience. And, we really liked the high booths- felt private like we had our own little space. The ambiance, style and decor make a very upscale, quality impression, consistent with the food and service. We will definitely dine at Epic again!
Ive never set foot in the place. I just wanted to make management aware of a space they can grow, which is reception and accurate information on the website. I think this is one of the few, if not the only place there is a chefs table and multiple course meal w/ wine pairings in Columbus, so I was excited to surprise my fiancée with a fancy date.Today, I called a left a message as well as sent an email to reserve a table for next week, bc on the answering service, the voice message said that there was no availability for the rest of this week. And on the website it is indicated that Epic is closed the 19 & 25-29Melissa, was kind enough to get right back to me within the hour, and this is where Epic can grow. As a receptionist or someone handling the booking in a high end restaurant, you dont have the customer guess which days will be available just to tell them that they arent any, without counter-offering what days are available.Call with availability in mind and suggest times that will work, that is customer service. Texting Melissa felt more like some sort of selective screening process instead of service being provided.
Food was not good!!! Customer Service was excellent. The atmosphere and decor was great. So, if you want a nice atmosphere with great decor thats your place, but if you want good food dont go. My date and I left our food on the table, we didnt want a to go box. We both ordered steaks. We paid almost two hundred dollars for nothing. We should have known because it was a Friday night and they had plenty of tables with no wait time. The drinks were very good. They asked my date to remove his hat before we were seated. I guess the dress code is no hats.
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and we had a great experience. The food was hands down superb. The moment we walked in the restaurant we were treated like VIPs. Our server was Don and he was awesome. He knew the menu and the ingredients as if he cooked the meals himself. Each meal was portion to perfection. The deserts was sooooo delicious. This was the perfect anniversary meal. I would recommend this restaurant hands down. Come and enjoy the experience.
Love this restaurant. The atmosphere is great and the staff is amazing and so attentive. The new bartender, Emily is so awesome and friendly. The drinks were incredible, best drinks downtown by far. Also, Chris wasn’t even our waiter and he took such good care of us and answered any questions we had. Even got us a tour of the kitchen. Will definitely be coming back!
We had my daughters graduation celebration dinner at Epic...the name is fitting to say the least! Ms Melissa was so helpful during the reservation process, answered my thousand questions. The food was truly amazing, every dish was mind blowing delicious and beautiful. The gathering room was so elegant and the tables were perfect. Many of my family members kept the menu for a keepsake because even they were beautiful. The service was top of the line; each server was friendly, professional, attentive and gracious in working around our picture taking. I couldnt have chosen a better place for our event, we are so happy with everything. Thanks so much!
My husband and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary a week early and had an AMAZING experience here this evening. This is a fine dining experience I would recommend anyone to try at least once. Although one time wont be enough. Our food was superb! Coffee and dessert as delicious and they even treated us to a beautifully decorated and tasty anniversary dessert platter. Service was the best weve ever had. Never were our glasses empty. We were well well tended to by everyone that passed. We will make sure to make this place our special occassion. Jay was an excellent server!!!! Thank you for this amazing experience this evening Epic staff 👏😊👍
If Epic were the standard of a 5-star review, no other restaurant would ever be able to rate as high. Honestly the BEST service you will ever receive IN YOUR LIFE. They treat everyone as though they are VIP, accommodating any celebrations, any dietary needs, any last-min additions... ANYTHING. Aside from the amazing customer service, it almost goes without saying that the food is outstanding. And you can meet the chef while you’re there! Like I said, VIP service!
5 star experience in little ole Columbus, GA. This isn’t the place to go if you are wanting a huge hunk of steak and potato, but if want a meal from an Olympian winning chef paired with amazing wines this is it. I’ve been to places in Miami, Vegas, NYC, Atlanta, Chicago, etc and this goes toe to toe with any 5 star gourmet restaurant you will ever go to. I’ve done the chefs table and that is a great experience. You sit at a table in the kitchen. They bring 5 courses I believe paired with great wine. Amazing delicacies that most I’ve never tried. Ever course was amazing, and so was the wine. I even enjoy the bar here. They have an ever changing menu of the coolest craft cocktails and small bites for happy hour. This is the place to go for The Who’s who in Columbus.
We just had another five-star experience at Epic, the restaurant too good for Columbus. Since they had Restaurant Week specials that coincided with my wifes birthday, I selected Epic as the place to celebrate. My wife had the filet, while I had the drum fish. Everything was excellent, both the food and the service, as it has been every time we have eaten here.
I have eaten here on numerous occasions over the last several years, including the special chefs table and regular menu. However there is no regular menu. Epic is a restaurant of menu change, a change that offers enticing food, different food, different techniques that always thrills the foodie in me. What doesn’t change, is the consistency in the service, presentation and strive to be be one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten. I want say thank you for making my mother’s birthday dinner memorable!
This was the fanciest restaurant I have ever been to. Ive got to try food that Id normally wouldnt get to try and all of it was simply divine. The service was excellent it wasnt crowded or noisy and the beverages were top of the line with a plentiful wine and spirit selection I would recommend this place to everyone if they wanted a top of the line dining experience.
We had a wonderful family meal to celebrate our kids being home for Christmas. Every dish we ordered was delicious and the service was impeccable. Such an interesting menu and its great to know the chefs source locally and seasonally. We will always come here for that special occasion opportunity.
Epic experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The staff was courteous and attentive. My pork was perfectly prepared as was my daughters filet. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with little hidden messages throughout the restaurant referring to the name, Epic. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had the privilege to visit and enjoy an amazing dinner as a group with the team we work close with. This was by far one of the most EPIC experiences of my life. (outside of my children :) )The food was absolutely amazing, the staff was truly professional and on top of things. The atmosphere was beautiful and the story behind every detail was EPIC. I hope to make it back again one day for another special event. Thank you, Mr. Chef Keating for making this great for all that was there!!
Doesn’t feel like you’re in Columbus, GA, more like Beverly Hills. Classy place. I had the Kangaroo. It was excellent. The prices aren’t too unreasonable. $32-upwards. 3-4 waiters will come by. Service is superb. You have to try it.Edit: Tried the Chef’s Table for the first time. I think you will be spoiled after that experience. Chef’s Table is located in the kitchen and seats eight people. We had a great group of strangers :). You get to be among the kitchen staff and the owner as they prepare your 8 course meal along with the meal for those in the dining room. Jamie the owner and chef not only prepares the most delicious food tailor made for your likes and dislikes but he’s witty and his energy is great! The food is as authentic as Jaime. He has no air of superiority. He adds an element of surprise and backstory to each dish he prepares. It’s basically dinner and theatre! The staff work well as a team and you can tell they are family. Columbus is fortunate that Jaime/Epic (a official FOUR DIAMOND RATED restaurant) decided to set up in a nook of downtown Columbus out of all places. Chef’s table will run you about $340 base for two people (that includes automatic 22 percent tip.) So worth it. Take someone special there and you will be the King or Queen. Epic is My favorite restaurant not only in Columbus but in the entire U.S. and I’ve eaten at many high end fancy pants restaurants (Spago’s, Mr.Chows, Mastros, IlPastaio and, Avra, among others). That is all.
Great restaurant in an unexpected locale. The service was on point, extensive wine list and unique cocktails. The food was both inspired and well executed in larger portions than similar quality restaurants in larger cities. Epic will be on our list for future visits.
Best restaurant Ive encountered in this region. Service, food and wine were all top notch. Watermelon salad was a big hit. I then had the strip steak with a Duckhorn Merlot. The restaurant is pricey but sometimes you got to splurge. It was my sweethearts 60th birthday. Well be looking for an excuse to go again.
Five star dining in Columbus? Yes, of course! Tucked into a converted warehouse near the river, Epic is singlehandedly elevating the dining experience of the city. Expect delicious and aesthetically pleasing presentations along with friendly yet professionally subtle service.
This isnt a restaurant, it is an experience. You cannot, I repeat cannot live in Columbus and pass up the opportunity to eat here, at least once. Everything is superior from the begining to the end. Even the candle on my dessert matched my outfit; maybe it was a coincidence or extreme attention to detail. I may never know but I am still impressed!
The hospitality was great, we immediately felt welcomed as soon as we entered the door. The decor was very interesting as well. We went during Columbus Restaurant Week and didnt have reservations but the staff was still accommodating to us. Food was amazing; I enjoyed everything that was brought out as well as the unique signature cocktails. The Song of Fire and Ice drink was the best. We even got a tour of the kitchen where the restaurant Chef was very welcoming as well. Definitely recommend going to this restaurant!
Epic is not just the best restaurant in Columbus, but one of the best I have ever eaten at, period. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and seem to truly care about what they do, and it shows. Eating here is more of a dining experience, and is truly worth the cost.I highly recommend the Chefs Table, as well.
First of all, when we walked in the hostess was very rude & asked um can I help you? Also told us we were underdressed when I was wearing heels & a nice outfit & my boyfriend was wearing dress shoes & a polo. THE GUY IN FRONT OF US WAS WEARING A REGULAR T SHIRT AND JEANS. Maybe because were a young couple, she thought we couldnt afford it or something & thought it was appropriate to shame our clothes.. But anyway, finally got seated & the decor is beautiful. But the atmosphere is very uptight & quiet.. We ordered & the chef sent us cider & a small bite of beef, which was good. After that we got bread an hour later, & proceeded to wait another hour & a half to get or meals. Beautifully prepared - but everything was very BLAND. No flavor whatsoever. I ordered the breast of chicken & my boyfriend got the filet or beef, but neither had much flavor. Definitely not worth the $200 spent there. May be a good place just to get drinks, but we did not enjoy the food or the uptight atmosphere, although we did like the decor.
We went for our anniversary. The Truffle Mac-n-Cheese was great, The prime rib was cooked to perfection, my desert was creme brulee and was outstanding. the staff constantly kept everything fresh to include the silverware. It was hard to find (first timers) but we are already planning to go back.
OMG!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!The food is outstanding. The service is outstanding. The atmosphere is lovely. I especially love the high-back booths, very private.TOTALLY RECOMMEND this for a nice, quiet dinner for 2. Id leave the kids at home though, a little pricey for the little ones...IMHO
When I have the privilege to be in a restaurant like Epic, I am in awe. I share the wonder at all the creative arts drawn together to create the atmosphere, the food and the drink. All crafted an experience here that settles me into a state of euphoria at being a human.
Fine dining, delightful staff and delicious food and perfect portionsWent there for a date night and service was outstanding and cant praise food and service enough.Parking garage across the streets s restaurant is next to river where you can take a walk. Ordered mushrooms and eggs for appetizer, lamb chops and steak for mains, creme blureè for desserts and wine to go with
Apparently we werent following the dress code. I was wearing a dress and my friend was wearing khaki shorts and a polo. The way the hostess spoke to us was very rude and unprofessional. We asked if we could sit at the bar and she just said Im sorry. We were like for what? She just said sorry you cant sit here. We had to ask why not for her to tell us there was a dress code. It was like pulling teeth getting her to tell us how we were breaking it but she eventually told us no shorts or sneakers. Wow! Business must be good for you to be that snooty!
Ok. Service was excellent. My daughter ordered a vegetable plate and it left a lot to be desired. A little bit of veggies on a large bed of rice. For starters, rice is a grain and not a vegetable. So we felt grossly underserved at a restaurant that is at the top of everyones list.
Epic is a the marvelous restaurant that was sponsered by Hatcher Stubbs - Chamber of Commerce event 08/16/2018. Their appetizer choices were delightful and Eloquently put together. Their 5 to 6:00 p.m. preset menu for dinner is a 3 course choice and the full dinner menu changes frequently. The bar also has its own dining appetizer menu.

2021-12-19We made a reservation for our anniversary dinner via email. Very professional with 5 star service. Someone was always changing our silverware for each course refilling water and removing plates, very attentive staff. Food was fantastic! Butternut squash bisque was perfect!

2021-08-27“Epic” is a 4-diamond restaurant in Downtown Columbus GA. I ate dinner here by myself tonight and loved every second of it! This is a safe place for solo female diners. I was treated with warmth, respect, appreciation, and felt treasured by the chef and his team. I came here from Atlanta to tour apartments next door. I was walking to my car when I saw the restaurant sign and went. The chef greeted me as if I were the queen of England. He was so kind, personable, and enthusiastic about me stepping into his restaurant, I was absolutely delighted by the whole experience. So instead of choosing what was on the menu, I told him I’ll eat whatever he wanted me to eat. He made delicious octopus, duck, ice cream, and coffee for me. And he blessed me with his testimony of faith, so while I was eating, I wrote a poem about this amazing chef, here’s my poem:“Epic”On a hot sunny beautiful Summer day,I found an epic little restaurant tucked away. The adjective “Epic” characterizes a story told about a hero and his unique journey’s exciting adventures and memorable events. This restaurant’s Purple Chef Jamie Keating is the hero, and his adventurous, eventful, memorable, exciting journey never ends.I was exploring the Downtown of Columbus GA and got very hungry.I wandered into “Epic” where Jamie at the door welcomed me personally and humbly. He kindly showed me around and even invited me to see his beautiful kitchen. He told me his adventurous hero-story, a testimony that’s already my life enriching. He told me about adversity he experienced similar to what I’m now going through. His testimony of faith and perseverance helped me witness God’s promises as true. The food and the atmosphere are absolutely incredible and unique here. But I wandered into this restaurant because Jamie’s epic faith story I needed to hear.Jamie cooked for me unique, creative, delicious, not even on the menu… food,And his relatable testimony showed me that God is always near, trustworthy, and good.8/26/2021 © Anna Szabo, JD, MBAp.s: the team at Epic is 10 out of 5 stars. The restaurant has a family theme with purple mixed into everything because purple is the color Jamie’s children associate him with, and I certainly agree. I recommend this restaurant even if you live 120 miles away like I do. I’m definitely coming back!

2021-08-01Mind-blowing, mesmerizing experience!!!! This is a fine dining experience unparalleled in quality anywhere in this region of the country, the kind of experience you dream about in searching for fine dining. Superb service from the moment you walk in the door. Sophisticated and upscale while remaining warm, friendly, and inviting. The food is stunningly creative and cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious and breath-taking! Absolutely top scale servers, proving to be knowledgeable and well-versed in the food and beverage selections available, extremely impressive descriptions and suggestions. The chefs are superb, combining molecular gastronomy techniques and inspired cooking to produce stunningly delicious and creative food. From the tiny wasabi pearls on the palate-cleansing offering between courses, to the perfectly cooked and seasoned kangaroo loin or crisp and savory crabcakes, the decadent creme brulee, the creamy risotto or accompanying chanterelle mushrooms, the dishes were more than well balanced - they were perfect. Sides and accompaniments were as accomplished as the main courses. Delectable desserts, perfect wine pairings, elegant atmosphere - there is just not enough that can be said to emphasize how thrillingly rare an experience dining at this establishment truly is. The entire staff had absolutely PERFECT timing in delivering courses, refreshing drinks, etc. Search though you may, you will not find a stunning experience like this anywhere in the southeast. This is NOT TO BE MISSED. Our family will value ourselves enough to return as often as we can, and plan to experience the chefs table as soon as possible.

2021-08-10Starting with a warm welcome at the front door through the impeccable attention paid to our every need, Epic was the perfect place to celebrate 3 quarters of an amazing life ... so far.My mother was treated every bit the queenly status her accumulated wisdom demands. The meal selections were well-thought and each course presented with understated eloquence.Although I prefer fried pickles to fried strawberries, Epic is THE place for celebration!!!🥳 🍾
