Beautiful location! Love this park. The trail, without detours, is about 2 plus miles (think the trails app says 2.5). It has a Frisbee golf course. Lots of picnic tables, a few outdoor fire places, and the water is clear and cold. There also appears to be a few good trails for mountain biking.
Beautiful Park! Has everything from hiking, bike riding, disc Golf, water Rapids for sliding down the rocks, play ground, fishing, stone chimney grills for a nice bbq with plenty of seating areas. This is by far one of the largest parks we have in this area. Great place for exercise and families. Pet friendly. The dogs love running in the streams and lake. We go almost everyday just to get sunshine and fresh air. Great for meditation, yoga, picnics, flying drones or playing with remote control cars and boats. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this gem whenever you visit Columbus Ga.
This is a beautiful Park. If people would stop Littlering and respect the park it will remain beautiful. There are plenty of shady spots with picnic tables to sit and grill on the built in grills or to bring your own. And listening to the water run down the rocks is very relaxing.
This is a beautiful, unique park in the north side of town. As a Floridian, parks with large rock faces and flowing water like this are rare. I was in town and wanted to explore, and I was not disappointed. The park is pretty large. I was limited on time so I didn’t get to walk through it all, but it looks to have lots of trails and pathways for walking, and the scenery is beautiful. If you’re in Columbus, this is definitely worth visiting if you need an afternoon to relax, or to have a get-together.
As a child, my family used to visit here almost every other week! It still remains one of my favorite memories growing up in Georgia. Its pristine and raw natural surroundings were, I believe, one of the reasons I was an avid hiker, tree-climbing, tomboy! Now, at 63, Flat Rock Park is the one iconic memory I have of Columbus, GA. Im happy to know that this gem still remains for more generations of fun, adventure, and scenic beauty! Well done, Columbus, well done!
Flat Rock Park has plenty of room for people to hang out and enjoy themselves including open areas and more confined ones. There is a playground, restrooms and even a small lake. Even though the flat rock part of the park is cool and unique, it still feels a little generic as a park, overall. It’s not the best looking or cleanest either. It seems to get over crowded. Despite this, it’s still a fun little park to go to.
We were so lucky to discover Flat Rock Park on our weekend getaway to Columbus! Its absolutely gorgeous, and is now our favorite park in all of South and Middle Georgia. The park is huge and offers miles of hiking and biking trails, gorgeous views, swimming/wading areas, disc golf, playgrounds, pavilions and picnic areas, geocaching, and waterfalls galore.Although I highly recommend getting out and exploring, you can also enjoy the park without stepping foot outside of your vehicle. Theres a one-way paved loop the circles the park, which provides excellent views from the comfort of your car.As unbelievable as this hidden gem is, its even more unbelievable that its completely free. Theres no admission charge or parking fee of any kind.If youre in the area, then this park is a must-see! And its definitely worth a drive for for those farther away that love nature and the outdoors.PSA- Do be sure to watch out for centipedes and cactus/prickly-pears while visiting, theyre vicious!
The park is large with 3 different trails to choose from for hikers and bikers. There is a lake and a golf course. There is plenty of picnic tables and fire place like bbq pits. There are different children jungle gyms. The flat rocks are VERY slippery when wet as the sign warns. I wandered about it myself and fell (not too bad) but parents should watch their children. The restrooms are okay. Theyre not super clean but not as filthy as some other public parka Ive seen. I do think they need more trash cans because I came across a lot of trash here and there like a dirty diaper and fast food paper bag. It annoyed me but when I tried to throw away some of my own trash I noticed there werent a lot of trash cans around. Nice park overall but needs to be taken care of more on the visitors and city side.
Cool place! Theres a lot to do. Its a big part of you just want to walk around or climb on the rocks. Its super chill! You can bring your bike and ride around theres trails in the woods and trails that are blacktop. Cool little waterfall! Theres also a disc golf coarse! Place is worth a look if you are in the area!
Nice place visited it one time to ride the Fall Line Trail. Trail was nice until you get into the Columbus Urban area.Park has exposed flat Rock like name says. A small stream flows over the Rock making it a natural splash pool thats great for kids in hot weather.Rocks are kind of picturesque themselves. Park also has a small lake a mountain bike trail and the trail I already mentioned
Wonderful place to walk around. There are 2 playgrounds for children. A disc golf course. Plenty of picnic tables all over the park.Enjoyed getting out close to the water and taking pictures. Be careful of the algae covered rock close to the waters edge.If youre going to do something that could get a little rough, like a Nerf war. Pick the area carefully. Away from the creek is enough dirt on the ground, but there are many areas that is just bare rock.
This park is easy to get to, the park drive is scenic, paved, and clean. The trails are marked and maintained well. The only negative I encountered was the lack of periodic bathrooms along trailheads.(those there being open). This is a very picturesque park with plenty of room to roam, the pond is nice to look at, fee ($0) is great. Parking is anywhere along picnic stops that are all along the main drive route, near the official trail entrance and the exit. The cement tables and rustic oven/grills are a nice touch and are plentiful.
I almost didnt visit, as I heard comments from others about the trash and the park had gone down hill. After asking a few of the staff at my dogs day care- I took a chance as they all said it was a lovely park. Im very happy I didnt miss it! There were some areas that did have one or two pieces of trash others had left behind---while I didnt appreciate that the over all beauty and serenity of this park is one you dont want to miss. There were plenty of others walking, enjoying and playing with their children. Joggers, hikers were all around. And a perfect walk with my Blue heeler. It was absolutely lovely.
This is absolutely the best park in the Columbus Georgia and Chattahoochee Valley area. Ive been coming to this park for 29 years, before me and my mother and her friends went to this park. There is endless areas to explore. The flat rocks with small waterfalls (if you can call it that) are very beautiful and relaxing to sit by. Theres no railings or borders so you can explore anywhere you would like. During the summer a lot of people like to slide down the rocks though I would exercise a lot of caution doing so. There is quite a few mountain biking tracks, enough to entertain even the best Riders. I believe Ive ridden all of them and theyre quite fun. There is a big lake and you can fish there though most people dont have too much luck from what I hear. But the park is usually very well taken care of. Flat Rock will always hold a special place in my memories!
We went here for something to do on a Sunday. This is a nice park, but it could use so upgrading. The playground equipment was old and dirty looking. We were able to take some nice pics here. My kids went down the rocks. They had fun doing that. But beware it’s a quick side down those rocks and you could land on jagged rock
Nice neighborhood park. Nice trails for walking, running, biking. Trails are maintained by volunteers. Lots of places for BBQ and at least 2 kids playgrounds. They also have a great frisbee golf course, and party areas..... unfortunately it seems that the increased use over the past few years has attracted people who just leave their garbage anywhere and everywhere. Aside from that its a great park.
Overall a nice park with some great places in it. The waterfall area and the pond are nice. You can walk your dogs there or let them play in/ near the river or water area. There doesnt seem to be any well marked trails or coherence to the layout. You can drive throughout the park but walking feels more like trekking. A lot of the benches and tables are in disrepair. Its still a great place to go with the family or friends; especially if you enjoy Frisbee golf.Could be better though.
Park maintenance has went down over the years. That, along with abuse from visitors has diminished this parks beauty over the years. Still a place often visited by many for family or large gatherings. Although many of the large gathering places are no longer there. Bathroom cleanliness is hit or miss, more miss than hit. Large residential housing built right next to the park has taken away from its solitude and beauty. There is the walking trail at the back of the park, numerous bike trails within the park, and frisbee golf, along with fishing in the lake.
Still one of my favorites now with the riding trail that runs up behind the park its very cool . From my yard to park by bicycle round trip 42 miles we can do the ride in 6 hrs. Not bad for a 50 yr.old . Get your kids do the walk and the trail put your phones down or atleast mount it to your bike . Oh trump won Biden a traitor ..lets go Brandon
Good location and great activities available. I would like to see a little more funding and some revitalization but other than that, it’s a great park with access to the Fall Line Trace. It’s only about a mile from the eastern most point so you can still get a good 18 or so miles without starting at the Psalmond entrance.
The park as a whole is pretty cool. The natural rock slide is still awesome 👌. The bike path and disk golf areas are still decent. There seemed to be some light construction on 2 shelters which looks promising but the playground desperately needs some love. At the bare minimum a deep cleaning. The trash is a little much. It seems as though most people have forgotten what a trashcan is and the parks department obviously doesnt care about doing an even decent job. Sad to see these places being driven into the ground by careless people.
Flat Rock is a beautiful park to spend time with family, friends, or even by yourself. Its many trails are great for waking, biking, or riding the parks winding road around the natural beauty of the water flowing over the rocks. Perfect for riding in a convertible with your top down on a nice day!
My Girlfriend and I had a blast. It was my first time visiting the park, so she was really excited to show me. Theres beautiful nature trails for walking. For those who are into RC cars and trucks this is the place to go, there were several people enjoying doing as well.
Such a beautiful, serene place to walk through. I instantly feel an escape from the craziness of life right now. I can take a deep breath and just breathe. My young granddaughter and I walk there most mornings. She enjoys it as much as I do. Its a safe place we can enjoy without wearing a mask. (Of course, being careful to cross to the other side if someone is walking toward us on same side.)
Look, Im going to give this place 4 stars. This is an extraordinary place to come grill on the CCCs impressive stone rocket stoves. Best place in the area for a barbeque, hands down. However: The trail system kind of sucks. You can walk down the Fall Line Trace, but there are better places to park for that. The rest of the trails just wind along the road.
Great place to go for an easy hike. The bike trails seemed well maintained and enjoyable. The best thing about this park is that its right in town. Giving four stars because they could improve signs/trail information to make it easier to find the start of a trail. Trail distances would also be helpful to know. The one map I found wasnt very detailed, other than this its a very nice park.
Great natural park with some unique things. Has a good sized creek running thru it that is pretty and people hang out on the rocks. Also a small waterfall, rocks, bridges and stuff that are good for pictures. Disc golf course is nice with an active club and 18 holes. The mountain bikers have multiple well maintained trails. Great place for taking walks and jogs also.
Flatrock park is losing a lot of its charm due to development. It used to feel like being in the woods, tucked in the city. Now when youre on the trails you see buildings and an ugly retaining wall by the exit. Still, it has good trails for running and mountain biking.
Go there just about every day such a beautiful place so much to do go kayaking fishing walking trail bike riding it is just a great escape go there to barbecue all the time hang up a hammock and just kick back and relax doesnt matter what the weather is its always beautiful. This is a quaint little park with options to hike, fish or bike. The rocks are cool and the water flowing through it is nice. Great for a family picnic lunch. Many people were playing in the water although we didnt think it was clean.
A really nice park to bring your whole family to. There public bathrooms, a lake to fish in and lots of trails to walk and ride on. Not to the mention the area around the park is very safe and suburban so you dont have to be overtly worried about the environment around you. All and all a wonderful destination to picnic and just have fun with your entire family.
This is a nice park to hike and let your dog roam around with your super vision. They have tables that friends and family can go to for a picnic! I saw lots of people hiking and playing with their frisbees and saw lots of dog playing around. We go here often and we love it!
Flat Rock is pleasant every time I go there for a mountain bike ride. I feel relatively safe and enjoy the well-maintained trails. Sometimes Ill watch the disc golfers before continuing on my fairly easy ride. Good place for a morning work-out. We came across this park and decide to check it out, sure glad we did! What a beautiful park! Fun playground, awesome trails for both bikes and warning. Pack a picnic baskets and explore away!
Its not the safest place to play and the water is pretty mucky. Plenty to explore and its a great place to bring a bike to. Seriously be careful on these rocks. Keep your feet on the dry areas to tread safely.Ultimately, it was a fun experience and we all had a great time. Bring friends. Theres lots of shaded areas and picnic spots. Its what you make of it.
Lovely park for any type of outdoor activity. Great for families or to bring pets. Shallow water to play in but be careful after a ran as it can become hazardous. Bike trails for off road or it connects to a converted rails to trails system for miles if fairly level paved paths for biking, running, or walking.
Amazing park! The trail right next to it makes it the perfect place for any runner looking for hills or a flat surface. The park also features several paths along the main route and a large body of water perfect for exploring and events. It is well maintained and kept very clean. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area !
Its what it says flat rocks. Which are really cool to walk around carefully. The place looks like at one time it was kept up and used for picnics and such. When we went I dont know if it is because of covid or not but it was over grown and neglected. We still enjoyed our visit and would go again.
My husband shared this place with us this past spring break. It was where he spent summers with his family as a child. Our girls and I LOVED IT!!! We are definitely coming back again and again! I love the natural water slide and we enjoyed wading in the water and the playground was great...picnic areas were great and we loved the adult swings as well.
Great park to go for a walk with family. Very interesting flat rocks beds all over the park-really slippery when they are wet so be careful. Park has a lake, kid playgrounds, frisbee golf courts and plenty of barbecue spots. A little dirty before this year season, but there were just people doing the cleaning around on spot so I believe it will get just better
The scenery is very pretty but the community hall that you can rent for reunions etc. is very run down and needs to be updated and taken care of by the park maintence rather than those who rent having to clean it up and get it habitable. No problem with cleaning up after ourselves but it should be maintained if people are paying to rent it.
This is a gem located on the fall line. Gentle water falling over flat rocks make a perfect place to lie down and cool off. Beware of fast moving water after rain and flooding. The water can turn from gentle to raging. The park has winding trails for bicycling. An entrance to the biking trail going all the way to the river is easily accessible. We love this park. We used to live within walking distance. I have glorious memories of my kids playing there.
Flatrock park is a nice quiet area in town that has good bit of different terrains for all sorts of interest. Whether you like mountain biking, jogging or just being outdoors, flatrock has something for everyone. Park is pretty clean and not usually super crowded. Very nice park.
Flat Rock park holds the first and last of so many amazing memories for me and my family. This park is always my first choice of places to spend quality time whether it be with myself to breathe and enjoy nature or to enjoy the company of my family. It is clean and quiet and gorgeous.
This park is amazing! I lived next to Flat Rock and was there a lot! It has a lot of great trails for running, biking, or walking with some great views. There is a really great frisbee golf course here, two playgrounds for children, and a few permanent grills/rock ovens. If you are in the Columbus area, this is a must see and this park this one that you must experience, A+
Beautiful park. Safe to ride bikes and walk with strollers or dogs. Has pond for fishing. Lots of picnic areas. Playground for kids and trails. Only downside is it is best to have an SUV to maneuver some areas but not required. May just need to be more careful on sloped gravel roads. One way in/out. Also very spread out.
We frequent this park almost daily to walk our dog. Plenty of shaded areas, access to water, and big enough you can find an area that isn’t overly crowded. This park has a disc golf course, mountain bike trails (also considered hiking trails), a couple playgrounds, outdoor grills, and access to the flat line trail. A lot of people tend to walk their dog here so it allows for good dog socialization. Since it is heavily wooded, make sure to always check for ticks and wear your bug spray!

Overall great place where I can bring my dog to get cool in the summer, but right now there is trash EVERYWHERE. The only trash can I could find was by the restrooms but this is nowhere near where most people spend their time, so there is everything from shoes and diapers to beer cans and chip bags. Its very pretty, but some serious cleaning needs to happen.
Beautiful park in northern Columbus. They have hiking trails with picnic tables, a course for mountain biking and fishing. Flat Rock Park holds the first and last of many amazing memories for me and my family because of the fact that I spent my childhood and youth in these parts.
Man did I love Flat Rock as a child and teen. How many bruises and torn bathing suits I got I no longer remember, but they were totally worth it! I feel terrible for the restrictions in place now, but we were not so litigious a society fifty years ago and surviving the slide was half the fun, as was showing off our bruised or bloody marks of courage. I miss the beautiful granite falls now smoothed away by thousands of bottoms. But the place is still a great place to unwind on oppresively hot Columbus days; to picnic, listen to nature, and escape the city.
Litter everywhere! It’s such a beautiful area, but so much trash. Also, you can always smell marijuana being smoked which is the number one reason I don’t take my children anymore. The city needs to do something about the trash and illegal activity. After that this place would be paradise. Unfortunately, I don’t see Columbus doing anything about it though.
Big Lake quiet place to have a family picnic or birthday party they have Frisbee Golf Course and a bike trail mountain bike trail. They have a friendship Hall Im not sure but you can probably call the city and rent the Friendship Hall which is a a big building with tables and I think a kitchen. Be careful of people coming in the wrong direction because it is A one way entrance Park thats about a mile long some people that are not in the know or cant see the signs properly will come in the wrong entrance and drive all the way around the park it does have a bunch of windy twisting roads. So the cars that are coming the wrong way 10 to pop up on you quickly just be aware. Other than that is it is a pretty good Nature Park.
This park has something for everyone. Wether you like to bike, hike or just relax and take in nature while injoying a picnic lunch at one of the many picnic tables scattered throughout the park. Flat Rock Park has Wonderful trails, playground, water falls and so much more. If you want to get back to nature this is the park for you!

2022-06-22Nice park. The disc golf course was longer than expected. 11 was hard to find, it was across a street and up a hill from 10. I did also get a face full of spiderweb but its Georgia. Highly recommend going here for whatever. Lots of space to just hangout. There was a string of picnic tables like 8 strong.

2022-04-09Our family enjoys flat rock! Its dirty sometimes but thats what happens when uncaring and rude people visit a park. Its them to blame, not the actual place. Its large and has so much to do. My kids love the water!Ive had a few scary encounters with other people not watching their kids and their kids getting hurt/most drowning! Its Def a place where you need to have EYES ON YOUR KIDS ... hard for some people apparently.

2022-03-08My favorite park in town. Its beautiful and people are usually really nice and friendly. Watch out for the mud pits, at certain times of the year we are constantly seeing people get their trucks stuck multiple times a day.The police drive through the park at night to make sure everyone leaves.Park conditions: I feel like more efforts are directed to maintain and beautify cooper Creek, but thats just my personal opinion.Id love to see some of the roads/sides of roads fixed due to erosion, holes filled in, trees that are about to fall or hangers, (branch pieces that arent even connected) that could easily fall and hurt someone. But otherwise come on out. I saw the biggest deer of my life in a creek, in the woods. It was beautiful and it didnt even make a sound when it moved. Living out in Midland I see deer on the side of the road all the time, but never like this.Come check out the park and wildlife.

2021-10-17Visited for a short time close to dusk. Just in town for the weekend and Googled places to go. This park is larger than you would think. One way road circles all the different areas of the park. Including a creek running down a flat rock shelf! Lots of picnic areas, frisbee golf and a lake. Kind of a look into the past , with stone fireplace grills built in the 60s dotting the landscape. 2 spots with like 10 stone picnic tables lined up. Overall looks like a great place to get away and relax
