We seriously walked into this place late one night, and then turned to walk out. There is a unique system, but their regulars have it all figured out. When we went back inside, we found a table and just took a seat. There were only two guys manning the whole restaurant and one cook in the kitchen...but it was AMAZING! It’s more of a gastropub than a “restaurant”...and once we settled on that, we were more comfortable. The decor is just a little to the left, but the food is on point! I ordered the umami burger. Geeeezzz!! It was the most incredible burger I’ve ever tasted—salty, meaty, spicy. It’s a POW to your tastebuds. My partner had the chicken pot pie, and again, I couldn’t pin the flavor, but it was FULL of it. I can’t wait until I’m in the area again to try more of the menu...or even just stick to what I know.
I know its probably sacrilegious considering how many people I know that love this place but Ive always had the absolute worst service here. Multiple times Ive gone to eat there and had to flag down anyone for ordering / getting the check. Other times I go in to get a beer and they serve everyone but me. Ive walked out of this bar multiple times out of frustration of not being served. I know its a dive bar. Im reviewing it as such and thats a shame because their food is actually pretty ok.
Ive actually never seen a restaurant with such detailed safety procedures in place during COVID season.. Other eateries should take note. We sat on the patio and their gyritto changed my LIFE!!Stop by and let them know #RealtorRob with Keller Williams Intown referred you.#RealtorRobslist 🏡
You have to be drunk to eat this foodI paid $73 for a Togo order which I honestly don’t understand. I ordered 2 quesadillas, 20 wings and a chicken egg roll. The lemon pepper wings are super salty and the cilantro lime brisket quesadilla is just dry brisket with beans. Very disappointing
Ive been there several times before over the years (never going again) and every time was treated badly by the nasty people who work there but this last time tops it all: I was yelled at, top of his lungs, by some barkeep punk who thought the tip was insufficient. Zero stars is not an option, but should be.
Sweet baby purple Jesus. They put a fried green tomato on a burger and it was amazing. Imagine a burger so delectable that people would travel from far and wide to wait in a line out the door before tasting it. Imagine a burger so good that it could sell out before dinner time. Thats flatiron.
Only reason it gets two stars is that the food was pretty good and reasonable prices for everything otherwise the service nearly killed my rating of this place. It was a long day for me so when I was paying the bill I didnt see a spot for a tip so thought nothing else of it and signed the receipt and walked out. One of the servers chased after me and my group and aggressively told us that unless were going to leave a tip to never come back which Ill never do. I did go back in to leave a tip after I came back to ask him what he was talking about it and that I didnt see a spot for a tip or total, and the spot where it was didnt print properly and was hardly legible. I still tipped 20% but this interaction alone makes me never want to go back.
Would give five stars, but Im picky with my watering holes. If you do indeed like the dive bar scene, than this is the place to go! Its two stories, theres an awesome patio, and the staff may help you realize you didnt go there for the customer service. Hang out, drink, enjoy your friends, play darts, its a good time.
The food was dry and not to tasteful and the service was not good at all for my first time there I had high expectations but then seeing they charge an automatic gratuity is weird I shouldn’t be taxed especially considering it’s a pickup order just not satisfied at all
Can I give less then 1 star? We went in tonight, 4 of us at 7pm. When we walked I. The place only had 1 other 4 top and maybe 7 people at the bar. At 715 we ordered an appetizer, drinks and food. At 745 after several attempts to get the servers attention we ordered another round of drinks. At 820 our server told us that they didnt have the appetizer we ordered. Now the 4 of us got there at 7, we had 2 friends join us after, who ordered food. They got their food and were done before we decided to leave at 9:30, we still hadnt got our food. We tried to get the servers attention for our tab mtiple ti.es before we walked out fro t to talk to a friend. The other server co es out saying you cant walk on your tab. I informed him we had been trying to get it. He gave it to me....so I ended up paying for drinks...for food we never got....and automatic 20% gratuity....maybe if I go in tomorrow my food may be ready
Real chill spot. Alexis was our waiter, he was very nice. Food was great. I got the Mac and cheese, chicken egg rolls and spicy fried cauliflower (they werent that spicy which was great for me.I thought I was gonna have to dip them in ranch.) Im fruity drinker and had an adult Capri sun and it was delicious. We ate outside weather was ok till it got windy. Rain was coming 😩.Will be back.
I went today to enjoy the beautuful weather by sitting outside. No Unsweet Tea. Was told they were out. I think they meant they dont make it. Diet Coke was my next choice. NOT DIET& FLAT, dk what i was served. no carbonation. the Burger was good. Think the queso was from a jar. Bad chips. This is a hangout for drinkers. Or either dont eat in the village on mondays. Havent been here since 2011. Im going to try again next year.
If you like food you need to come here. Chef Gonzo creates some of the best flavor combinations I’ve ever had. You can tell he has a passion for the food he puts out. Always something new and out of the box. I keep an eye on their specials almost daily to see if it’s something I just need to have. I haven’t had a single thing here I don’t like. I would post pictures but food is so good I get too excited about eating it so I have none. Love the vibes here as well, you really can’t go wrong.
Visited for the first time in years and let me tell you this place did not disappoint me. They allowed their customers to set up a tent and have a vigil outside for a patron that passed. The compassion these people have shown their customers over the years is magnificent and awesome just as their food is tasty, spicy, and the greatest of greatness.I used to go and get the gyro sandwich but they no longer serve that. Kovid has forced him to shrink their menu a bit but its okay because their food is still excellent. I recommend trying their sucktopus burger.Again this place is awesome. My little dog ,Harlow, waited with me while they prepped our plate (she likes the fries).
If could zero i would I have not been to this place in years since they made me feel unwelcome as the Only Guest at the bar. They do not readily welcome ppl of color so I will never take my money here. I was really at Hippin Hops and the map flagged me at this God forsaken place... they are horrible who knows what they serve ....the lady waitress and bartender both ignored me and refused to serve me. Its for white ppl if you are white have fun! It seems decent ...I guess.....with the seating in the middle of the street in traffic 🤷♀️
Placed an order to go for the suctopus burger with tots. The tots were soggy and the burger was dry. The burger bun was also very soggy. I could understand this if I were late but I was there before the estimated time. The service was horrible and I waited at the to go counter a long time before anyone even addressed that I was there. I was excited by the menu but this trip will not bring me back.
We visited here to catch the AFC and NFC championship games. I had the Angus burger with fries and my wife had a Rubin. The burger was tasty and cooked to my direction, the Rubin, while not an authentic Brooklyn Rubin was nonetheless very good. The fries were plentiful. Most important, my bourbon and my wife’s Scotch were not watered down ( as some places seem to do) and ample. The draft beer was good but I do not recall which brand it was. The service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the clientele nice. Will definitely go there again when in the area.
Horrible customer service. Entered the bar and waited at the front for about 10 mins without being greeted or acknowledged. The bartenders/waiter looked at me like I had 3 heads. I proceeded to sit myself at an empty table. I sat there 20 mins and No One came to the table at all. I ended up leaving.
Great seating outside that is socially distanced. Right in the heart of East Atlanta Village. Lots to see around the village as you eat. The hummus and pita chip and vegetable platter is awesome. Huge portions. Leftovers are wonderful at home.😏. My guest had the smashburger that looked out of this world. 👍. Prices are more than fair👍
Awful service and hospitality. They allowed my party to enter the bar upstairs and stay for a few minutes. We went to order drinks and they couldn’t serve us because they were at capacity. Why would they let us is in the bar if they were at capacity? It doesn’t make any sense
I called the restaurant at 10:26PM to confirm that they were open for dine-in and the lady on the phone told me that they were open. I asked if I needed tomake a reservation and she said no it’s first come first serve. I arrived at 10:42 to be told that the kitchen is closed and that the cook is swamped. There was two parties with no more than 3 people and exactly four people at the bar. That’s bad business Flat Iron! It states that you close at 12am online and if your kitchen closes at 11pm it would be nice to let customers know when they call to inquire about reservations.
Excellent experience! Went there multiple times in one month and the customer service was great every time! Food was delicious and reasonably priced and drinks were well worth your buck! Would highly recommend for a nice, cool and relaxed evening drinking and eating with friends.
Service was terrible. Our server seemed annoyed to have to talk to us and only came over when we called him over. We waited 40 minutes for 2 sandwiches and a salad. The bartender never told us what was going on or apologized. Messed up the checks. Food wasnt good, very small portion of a sandwich with an entire plate of oily fries. Why spend money somewhere the servers think theyre too cool to wait on you when there are so many other options right down the street? It was an actively negative experience.Do not recommend, will not return, save your time and money.
2nd visit, this time with my 75lb dog. Sat on the dog-friendly patio on a sunny afternoon. Its a little cramped, but it provides a great atmosphere to have side conversations with strangers and for dogs to make new friends. (For those concerned about using the same plates that pets have used, water for pups is in paper soup bowls or plastic dog bowls.) Food was outstanding again and priced accordingly with quality. Staff was friendly and properly attentive.
I went here with some friends for some drinks and a few games of pool. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and fast! If someone asked for something, they always heard it and were quick to deliver. The best part about this place is that no matter how busy it gets, the staff keeps a positive attitude and will make jokes/have fun with the customers. Keep in mind that there is an upstairs and thats where the pool tables, etc are located.
Great bar and pub for the rocker in is all. We visited July 5th with a decent sized crowd and only one server. She was busy as was the kitchen. The staff was professional, friendly, and provided excellent service. Three start members managed a group of patrons that consisted of about 30 people or more. No one was stressed. It was a great experience. The Metal music and interesting kitch decor combined with the friendliness of the staff made for a great and enjoyable lunch. Next time we visit family in the area, we will be back.
Walked in and there was food on the floor. Not sure how long it was there since I just arrived but it didnt give me a good feeling. Service was great but the food, all of it, appetizer and 2 entrees were awful. Lack of taste and poorly seasoned. I tried to use the ketchup bottle and was disgusted by how gunked up it was that I put it away and asked for the check. Wont ever go back and hope the pass a food inspection.
Awesome wings! Everyone in my group raved about the food. It may look like a dive bar, but the food is top notch. My only complaint is with the prices of their drinks. $9 for a small pour of Makers Mark? Cmon, man. Midway Pub down the street is pouring Eagle Rare for $7.50.
Went on a Monday for lunch and had the specials, brisket taco and a beef vegetable soup. Both were very good. Brisket was tender and flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised by the soup which had the usual veggies and okra with a generous amount of beef. Outdoor tables available, music was good and not too loud. I will definitely go back and try some of their other menu items.
Best little dive bar in the village that just happens to have one of the most inventive chefs in the city, serving specials that elevate bar food / pub grub to another level. One of the best burgers in town and a decent selection of local craft beers on tap, bottles, or cans.
Listen. This place is great. Service is a normal level of attentiveness, which I prefer to the always-bothersome service styles of some other restaurants. Food is above average for bar food, and the beer is cheap. They have an awesome brunch and a killer selection of vegetarian friendly food. Ive been eating here for years now, and have never had anything I didnt like or bad service. Boom!
Dont get the Nachos. Kind of flavorless. Also could not help but notice how rude one of the cooks was acting. I believe he quit when I was there. The other customers appeared surprised as well. I recommend a different place for food. The bar area is probably their strong suit.
Flatiron has been a personal favorite for almost two decades. When I was four miles away on a direct line down Glenwood, it was a regular stop. Now, not so much, but I still love this place. The food is good, the people are my version of weird family, the drinks are strong. Go, unless you think Johns Creek is cool.
I stopped in for a drink and a bite after getting my nails done down the street. Having never gone to the Flatiron specifically I enjoyed the atmosphere the crowd and the overall menu options. Burgers and fries are the headliners as well as beer. Being a cocktail drinker I found the bar to be fully stocked and the bar tender very competent. I ordered a basic bite to eat (grilled cheese) which was good but not a reframing if an American classic but definitely good! Over all I enjoyed my meal and experience and would go back for a nice tavern meal! Id do it again .
I went there yesterday for lunch and ordered chicken sandwich burger and fries. They took over 40 minutes to bring me my food and the restaurant was not busy. Also people who came in after me got their food while I was still waiting. It seems that they do not care for non-white patronize so I advise anyone not white to avoid this place. When it finally arrived it did not look appetizing (probably because the waitress had to tell them to make it after they forgot and it was rushed) and it was not the type of burger I ordered. My entire lunch was wasted waiting on sub par food and being ignored because I was the only person in the establishment that did not look like them. The waitress was the only person who offered good customer service to me.
We drove all the way from Jonesboro, GA just to eat here for the first time. The door was locked with a couple of signs on the door for COVID-19 instructions (which was expected) and the bathroom plus etc. The guy that finally came to the door after waiting a while was rude. It wasn’t exactly what he said it was how he said it. To the point where we just walked off and went to a nearby restaurant.. Get it together with your staff guys. If certain staff members don’t want to be there find someone who does
I ordered the suctopuss burger and it was delicious!!!! Cooked to perfection! The portion sizes are definitely worth the price. My friend and I werent able to finish our food and he usually never gets full haha. Staff was super friendly and made sure we were doing fine. Will be back again, thanks Flatiron!!!
Today was our 17th wedding anniversary so my husband said he had been to flatiron several times and it was good so we decided to go here for lunch after church. My husband, cousin and her husband and her 3 sons who are our Godchildren ages14, 16 and 18 decided to go here. My cousins husband and her 3 well behaved sons are black Americans and we are white. (This is relevant to this review). So when we entered the restaurant we were told we could not be served inside because it was a bar/restaurant because the boys were not 21 which I completely understand but we were not told to have a seat at the outside tables instead we were told that there was another place down the street. This was obviously a prejudicial thing. I have lived in Atlanta all my life and with the diversity in this area who would have thought we would have been treated this way. So please dont patronize this establishment. You will be treated horrible and even if your money is green you better make sure your faces are white.
Disgusting. The bartenders were eating chips while serving in the middle of the bar. NO HAND WASHING WAS HAPPENING. Im all for the punk rock theme, I love the whole idea of it. We were going to order something to munch on but when the bell rang for food to be run out to the tables none of them cared. They just wanted to eat chips and flip their hairs. Plus my guinness was pored so sloppy. One beer and we bounced.
Good food, cold beer, and great staff. What else do you need in a neighborhood bar? If you want your food served with a side of pretentious then i suggest you go to the Highlands. But if youre down to earth and work hard for your money; then have a seat at Buddha, share a drink with Bruce Lee, and welcome to your new home away from home. Cheers friends!
The food is eh, its ok. Service is good though and the drinks are cheap. Since the place has a lack of a real isolated patio, the past few times Ive been I couldnt hear the people I was with about 5 feet away because of either loud music from cars or loud motorcycles.
Cool spot to hang out but the beer is too expensive and the food isnt even on pub level, think more like cafeteria with $$.There is the Suctopus! And the noisy fun patio which often provides a cool crowd and a unique chill upstairs bar/lounge. An EAV fixture to be sure.Sorry FlatIron, I wanted to love you but I just kind of like you :(
Best neighborhood bar in East Atlanta! It doesnt matter where you go or what you do in the village, all roads lead to Flatiron. This is the place we go after a show or just to hang out on a weeknight. Sam and Arin are some of the nicest bar tenders in town. Sunday brunch is always amazing, but they have mouth watering food specials every day. They support local breweries. Ill probably head there now.
If i could give less than 1 star i would. the bar tender was incredibly rude, so i did not tip, and when the charge showed up on my bank statement he had decided to give himself a 120% tip. Disputing with my bank, and will press charged if I need to. Absolutely unprofessional and down right criminal.
Dude seriously probably the best hamburger Ive had in my life was here called the suktopuss or something like that. It was so good and massive when it first came out I thought there would be now way that I could finish, but at the end I would have felt no shame in licking the plate.
A great alternative to Little Five Points Little Five Points has too many crazy people homeless people East Atlanta Village is so much more laid-back relaxing and enjoyable but if the yuppies do not agree with your outlook in life they will bar you from there for absolutely nothing dont waste your time going there theres so many other better places the where the people are not hypocrites
Wanna know where to find all the white people in ATL? Its here. LOL. Absolutely TO-DIE-FOR food. I highly recommend the mac-n-cheese ball, its incredible. The server was also quite pleasant. I would definitely go back. But I will say, hold your pee or poop if you gotta go. The restroom is HORRENDOUS. Absolutely nauseating. Cleaning it wont help. Just knock it down. Yes, its that bad.
I have such a nostalgic feeling towards this place as I have been going there for years...Just went back for the first time in years...bar staff not as warm as they seemed to always be and the service not as good but the food is still the same quality...they still get that right for sure
If I could rate this place a 0 star I would,My husband and I visit this place occasionally,Weve always had good service and havent been in bout a year, well about a month ago we went ,& had the worst experience ever,We were the only 2 blacks and hmmmm it was so obvious even a blind man could see the difference in service and how we was being treated oh btw our waitress was the Manager!Wow!

2021-08-08Hubby got the impossible burger and I got the chicken sandwich and a side of chili. Food was so yummy and the waitresses were phenomenal! I saw them serving tables outside with a smile even when it started to rain. We will be back! 😁💕💕🤡

2022-02-09It was a busy night last night (Monday).. My group took over 2 of the tables towards the back portion of the bar. We had great bar service and our drinks were served promptly, but a lot of the meals that we ordered took over 20 minutes to arrive to our tables. At the same time though, the food was delicious, so there wasnt any complaints once the food arrived.. lol. I will happily go back for food and drinks again.

2022-06-29This place has rats. I am a local and have been here a lot. Many people I know have told them they have seen rats….and the staff acts like it’s new news every time… It’s so bad we’ve seen them crawling around inside on a crowded weekend evenings. Service pretty bad depending who you get. Food takes forever. A party of 6 ordered after us and got their food 10 mins before us (2 people)… how does that work? Then, our waitress (short skinny brunette) kept a 30% tip when I paid in cash. Never came back with my change. Avoided me after that. Not cool. One star for how bad flat iron has become…second star for old times sake and the good memories I have there. For the love of god… call an exterminator.

2022-06-20Good bar with reasonable prices. Very hipster, edgy dive bar vibes. Drinks are made strong and can’t go wrong with a cold pbr. They do serve food till like 11pm and the hand breaded chicken tenders are amazing

2022-03-08Found this joint on our way into Atlanta for a concert. Ordered by phone and crew was very nice! The food is insane! We had nothing to go on and our expectations were met and exceeded. Highly recommend the spicy cauliflower, the shrimp roll, and grilled macaroni and cheese sandwich. Also, great ranch!

2021-07-10I give the Flatiron Bar and Restaurant a positive review, but this is a review of their Buffalo fried tofu sandwich. Its also positive. The sandwich is messy af, which Id expect from something slathered in buffalo sauce. Its got a nice heat to it, and the tofu has a great crispy texture -- well prepared. The curly fries are great and id choose them over most restaurants fries just from the texture. I appreciate having several vegetarian options at a restaurant, and this is a good one.

2022-06-06Tasty food, nice outdoor eating set up, good beer selection, friendly and low key service. I had a nice lunch there. It was a little pricey, but overall pretty good

2022-03-10Fast Service, I ordered the chicken tenders and fries which which was only $12 but the check came up to $15 some change.. I believe the waiter put in his own tip because the Definitely should not been $3 in some change worth of taxes for a $12 meal... The chicken tenders looked a little bit overcooked or look like it was cooked in old grease because instead of it being a nice crispy golden brown color, they were burnt looking. I probably will not be returning.

2021-05-15One of the best experience dining out my wife and I had in a long time...Chef Gonzo and Ben will take care of you.
