This is one of my favorite places in the world. Me and my friends used to visit the Lair downstairs for karaoke when I was stationed at Fort Gordon. The owners are wonderful. Judy will take care of you. This is the place to visit for an authentic southern experience. You can walk to the bars from here and get a great taste of historic Augusta.
Great experience! This was Augusta charm with world class hospitality. Chuck is fantastic host and communicator. Even traveling into the state he gives valuable info such as Georgias handsfree law that was enacted in July. He checks in with his guests with the right amount of frequency. The room was well appointed. It has great features such as 12-ft ceilings, fireplace feature and what looks to be maintained original hardwood floors in the bedroom. Room C is fairly well insulated from the Foxs Lair in the basement... If thats a concern to you. I wished I was not here for a triathlon (which BTW, The Olde Town Inn is a 20-30 minute walk to the Augusta IM transition area) otherwise I would have relished to opportunity to savor the libations. A final great accommodation was Chuck allowing to return to the room for a shower after the race. Lucky for me the room was not booked for the following evening and he was super flexible. Thanks again Chuck!
We were greeted by the owner when we arrived who was very pleasant. When walking into the house, there was a very unpleasant odor to begin with then as we got to our room we noticed that our bed was tilted so that the head was down several inches below the feet (which made for a very uncomfortable night). When booking the room i read where there was a bar underneath the house but was not aware of the amount of noise that was going to come from the live music that was being played! During the night there was a very annoying popping noise that was a constant inside the wall and it seemed like our bed was in the middle of the road there was so much noise! I feel bad writing a bad review due to the owner being so kind but overall i will have to say it was a very unpleasant stay.
Such a wonderful place to stay… If you’re ever in Augusta you really should stay here at old town Inn, the owners Chuck and Melinda are wonderful people and very accommodating… I will definitely be back as I want to try out all the rooms… Such a beautiful place, and the Irish pub in the basement, the Fox’s Lair, Is an awesome bonus...🦋
This is a real gem to have found. You almost wouldnt know where they are. I love that they have this almost speakeasy vibe going on in the basement and a secluding patio area. Perfect spot for a cocktail or a few beers with close friends. Local live music is a plus and the staff is friendly and forthcoming with suggestions. One of my new favorite spots.
Th s locations is like opening a Christmas box. It is not easily visible from outside. Once a person in inside it is very classy clean and cozy environment. The day I went in it was live performance that I enjoyed the most drinks are refreshing an the bar attender was amazing lady. I thank her for her hospitality
Friendly and small little place. I went for a show by a couple of friends “Smith and Douglas” and had a good time. Yes it’s a bar though I’m not a drinking man. I met Judy the bartender and let her know I’d be most appreciative if there was some coffee all night. She was on the spot with a smile and service. I met some nice people while there and will most likely be returning soon.Google will not tell you to go around the corner and look for the sign for the Fox’s Lair parking lot which is behind the Historic Inn where this little gem is located. I didn’t have any problems finding it as I had some inside information ! There is live comedy on certain nights as well as an open Mic Night. If your looking for a place with a decent sound system and friendly Mates and Sheilas then check out the Fox’s Lair in Augusta, Georgia
I came here to see a musician my wife liked and really enjoyed myself. The bartender was very good. She actually got bartender of 2018 so you should treat yourself to a well crafted drink. The atmosphere was great. It felt like a cozy bar in Prague. The Foxs Lair is in the basement, but I understand it is underneath a Bed & Breakfast.
Whats more to say? Its the best little hide away bar in town. Ive been coming for over 3 years; Tuesday nights with the doc & his band being my usual. Judy makes the best Mules around, but when I fancy a Belhaven beer shes got me. Dont let Google maps discourage you, just look for the little Fox sign, turn the corner, & look for the old fire engine.
Every Tuesday Doc Fisher and the Undefeated Army plays Irish music from 7:30 to 9:00 and theyre the most fun to be had at a bar in Augusta. The bartender at the Lair is the sweetest, most attentive bartender around. Great for bottled beers, local and import, along with liquor including 2nd City. Just be warned: it may be hard to find the parking lot. They dont call it the coolest place youll never find for nothing.
Great hidden Gem in downtown Augusta. Its located below the Bed and Breakfast above and has its own separate entrance. Mrs. Judy is a champ of working the bar and holding down the quaint space that holds about 25 to 30 people. Live music is always a treat because it so personal like watching them practice in the basement. Never a bad seat in the place. Drinks are the only downfall to me, on the weak side and put in the wrong glass some times. My vodka cranberry with coconut rum came in a small glass you might drink cognac out of.. All in all its a great place to visit, courteous staff, live music, with a nice friendly crowd.
For the fox family and the wish he made was to stay in bed and he lied in my mind about who he was hes Terry Ryan fox Henry Arthur. So he can be healthy in heaven and find out everything wrong with earth and find the truth as Im for ever his family as well he can make hospitals and colleges in his name to Say hello from heaven.

2022-02-12My wife and I were in town for a show at Bell Auditorium and wanted to stay within walking distance. We found this cool spot. The Fox’s Lair bar was the perfect spot to end the night. Fun local talent and the bar has all you need. The bartender Miranda was awesome and very nice. The house is over 100 years old and beautiful inside and out. One of the ladies that work there, Brandy, was very talented and I wish she would have played more. We will be back whenever we are in Augusta. We went upstairs to our room after the bar closed and slept in a very comfortable bed with a clean bathroom. I recommend this place if you want something different from your regular everyday hotel room.

2022-04-29Beautiful bed and breakfast with a great underground bar. Miss Judy and Miss Melinda act as great hosts! Tuesday nights are always a special occasion with a live band. Thursday nights offer Open Mic nights. The foxs lair is the best place to be for St Pattys Day in Augusta or an Irish themed night out on the town in a safe environment. You would be hard-pressed to find an equivalent in Old Town Augusta.

2022-06-19A very comfortable and quiet experience. Everything was absolutely perfect. Having the basement bar is the beautiful final touch a place like this needs. Wonderful music and drink selections. Very personable atmosphere. Its also located in a wonderful spot, being only minutes from downtown, the baseball stadium, and the riverwalk. I will be visiting as much as I can.

2022-01-19This place is so cozy. Its definitely a little small and crowded, but the atmosphere is really nice. The live entertainment was really talented. I had a mule since that is what they are known for, and it was really good, but my favorite drink was a spiked coffee. Definitely going to return again.

2022-06-08We loved our stay! Big, beautifully furnished and comfy room with an attached living room, perfectly located and close to everything downtown - we ended our evening downstairs at the Fox’s Lair with fun live music, happy patrons, and became fast friends with Judy behind the bar. Looking forward to visiting again!

2022-05-24Great downtown dive and basement bar. Ive been going down here since the 80s and theyve preserved the charm of the place and kept it quirky. Fun place to catch local live music if you get the chance its highly recommended.

2021-12-11Stayed at the inn last night. Chuck welcomed us with open arms and everyone was so friendly. We were lucky enough to come into an awesome comedy show at Fox’s Lair late night. We met some great comedians, and of course the bartender, Judy! Can’t wait to come back to this gem someday soon!

2021-11-21Went to open mic night and heard this great local talent named Shawn Gevedon last Thursday. There was a nice bunch of people there. The place has a gorgeous outdoor patio with a fire pit. They also have rooms to rent upstairs so you dont have to drink and drive.
