Bear with me as I share my experience. Within a few moment of ordering, our salad arrived, it had been kept so cold the lettuce was limp. The main course arrived almost immediately after, certainly not freshly prepared!! Rice was luke warm, Crepes Louisanna contained precious little seafood and a pasty glue like gravy. My dinner partner had Seafood Au Gratin, which was reminiscent of the crepes. To top things off, it had not been reheated appropriately and had cold sections. Upon informing our server, no manager came to address the issue. Over priced, uninspiring, avoid if you have other options.
We were excited to try here but so disappointed in the service John (our waiter) provided. He never really checked with us, we had to ask to place our starters and entrees. They ran out of the dinner specials and I honestly believe he wait to last minute. I’m so disappointed bc I was so excited to eat.
Menu French Market GrilleThe rolls were good.I ordered the Crawfish Pie. The rice I liked. The sauce which was a sherry type sauce I was not a fan of it. The actual crawfish pie.... okay so I like how the crust was flaky it was nice, getting into the the pie I didnt like the mushy texture. I was thinking in terms of a chicken pot pie with flaky crust, meat, veggies the stocky sauce that brings it all together. But with crawfish. It wasnt like that, I was disappointed. I didnt see veggies in it. I did have plenty crawfish tails. It was more of like a flaky crust (which is good) with mushy texture no flavor (which was not good)
I can only say that Jim and the entire staff are so pleasant, but the food is 100% Top Notch.. It’s always like home “The Show Cheers”.. Such a wonderful place that I have to stop by at least Once per week.. Yup that good.. Oh, everything is good, but the jambalaya is a staple.. Try a cup & you will see!!! Enjoy this Great Place!!!
Excellent fine French dinning establishment, the server and hostess were very friendly, helpful, and punctual with everything! The food was exquisite with a lot of seafood on offer. I recommend the gumbo 😁 the best part was the new York style cheese cake with berry compote. So if you have any extra room go for the dessert 😄
This place is very family friendly. However, do not order the steak. They brought me a rare steak instead of medium rare. The ceaser salad was not too fresh. In contrast my husband had the jambalaya and it was teaser. I will recommend it but stick to the sea food on the menu.
We went to dinner tonight (Fat Tuesday) our drinks were great I had lemon drops & my husband had a really tasty Long Island. Appetizers were she crab soup, steamed & raw oysters, & smoked salmon. I would love more crab in the soup...but overall very tasty. The oysters were delicious & the smoked salmon too. I ordered the blackened filet and asked for a side of blackened shrimp...I was saddened by dry, burnt tasting shrimp. It would have been so much better with less of the seasoning (which to me wasnt spicy) & more actual spice for hotness... my filet was cooked perfect...medium rare. Added a side of mushrooms & it came with potato & veggies. Overall dinner was good.
I ordered salmon. It had a crunchy breading (which I dont prefer) and was under-cooked inside. Also, there was a fruit fly that was apparently just as hungry as we were. I sent back the salmon and got a shrimp poboy (the boyfriend got a chicken poboy). Ultimately, we were satisfied with our food but the experience could have been better.
I was very skeptical on this place because Augusta is not know for their food but it definitely proved me wrong. This place was good with lots of flavor. My wife got the Seafood Crepes and they were good. My kids ordered the Roast Beef Po Boy and they loved it. I will recommend trying this place.Update: I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and it was 🔥. Definitely a must try at this place.
The wait to get a table was a little much but with everything being booked on a weekend I guess I can understand! It was a very nice atmosphere and the food was wonderful. Our waiter was VERY nice and respectful. A+ to him for sure! Nice little adventure being from Columbus GA.
The service was absolutely wonderful, from management to the server. The only issue was the food. The crawfish was seasoned to perfection but our entrées were lackluster. They just need more seasoning. I will go back and ask for heavy seasoning to see if the food will be better.
The previous owner offered what no other establishment on the planet ever offered of offers to this day; Unheard of Happy Hour pricing on imported and domestic 16 oz. pours of ales and pilsners (BASS ALE, NEW CASTLE and several others)!! As a very successful business owner, Chuck provided this very welcoming and brilliant Happy Hour to his patrons which in turn secured the rapid emptying and replenishing of the kegs. Never a soured or flat keg. Where can you get a 16 oz. BASS ALE on this planet for $1.50 pence?.....now??,...absolutely nowhere.I will say this, the French Market Grill is an establishment that offers a very cozy and congenial atmosphere like no other in the CSRA. It would do well if it were picked-up and relocated in any metropolitan city, L.A., N.Y.C., Chicago, Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle, Charleston, Atlanta, London, Paris, Tokyo, Sidney, Auckland, Belfast, Liverpool,...etc., etc.,...P.S.,...bring back the $1.50 Happy Hour!! Please.⚔️💂🇬🇧💂⚔️
So glad we got to try this place. A bit pricey at dinner, but very tastey. We had crab chops for an appetizer and oyster po boys. I had the spicy barbecue shrimp. Theres nothing barbecue to it, nothing sweet, and is extremely spicy. I love spicy and dont like sweet, so I enjoyed it! There are about 8 or so large shrimp with a clump of rice in middle, surrounded by the spicy pepper sauce, like a broth. Im used to people in the South saying spicy and it isnt, but this is actually very hot. Im a spice eater and I was a little warm. You will need a drink nearby. I like the atmosphere, would be great for date night. Our waiter was fantastic. There were lots of people pulling up for take out, we might try that also in the future. Located across the street from the Masters in Surrey Center.
French Market Grill restaurant has been a staple in the Surrey Center shopping pavilion over the years. It brings authentic New Orleans cuisine to Augusta and surrounding areas. Me and my brother went and we ordered plenty of food. For starters, we ordered chilled shrimp and a dozen of oysters. After that, here comes the bread and she crab soup, and then the salads. Finally here comes the main courses. He had trout almondine, and I had the crab cake dinner with vegetables. Everything was great from start to finish. I would like to have had dessert but theres always next time.
This was a nice place with a nice atmosphere. Our server was phenomenal. The dinner rolls were my favorite part. I got the steak and lobster and it was just ok. My husband got a crab chop and it was lackluster with no real crab flavor. He really loved the mint vinaigrette on his salad.
Our server James was excellent. Our food (seafood platter) was bland but hot. The Louisiana sampler you could tell was not made fresh but heated in the microwave. The shrimp was tough/overcooked and dusted with some sort of coating. One of us had a hair in our pasta... like right on the top... and they just made another without offering to compensate for the inconvenience. Poor customer care! Its definitely not worth it. Im not from here so maybe this is customary. Id rather eat at Red Lobster ... and I dont eat there either.
I am from New Orleans, , and miss my Cajun foods. So if I am heading your way, I & whoeverI am with, we stop to eat. Love the Po boys, only problem in N.O we do not put cold slaw on our poor boys, just lettuce, tomato. Pickles, and mayo. & we do put lots more shrimp on our Gumbo.
We ate at French Market Grille in the Surrey Center on 2/13/19 and had a delicious dinner. Everything was perfectly prepared with attention to detail. Our server was Cory and he was phenomenal! He made the experience even more pleasant and he never stopped looking out for the needs of each guest. I highly recommend this establishment.
I like this place for lunch with a friend. Lunch choices are interesting and very good. The quiche with fruit on the side is perfect...a nice portion. The rolls are the best as is the She Crab soup served with a little shot of sherry. Waitstaff is always attentive as is the management.
The atmosphere is upper crust but the wait staff and management treat everyone with respect and hospitality. The food is absolutely delicious and notch above the rest when it comes to this type of restaurant. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food and the beer, wine, liquor, and mixed drink selection is much broader than most. We will definitely be visiting this place much more often. It is perfect for any time of day and any kind of occasion! From a business lunch to date night to a mid afternoon meet up- its perfect.
We all had the lunch specials, Jambalaya, Fried Shrimp, Rice and Beans. All entrees came with fresh salad, delicious rolls, and unlimited sweet tea. Our waitress was Nadine, attentive, professional and great personality. She actually looked us in the eyes and waited until we replied to our requests! We have visited some establishments where they rush away without listening to our orders and requests! Oh, I had the she crab soup; absolutely divine taste. This restaurant could shame some Charleston resturants. The decor and ambience was very pleasant.
Clayton, our waiter was great...He knew the menu and gave us recommendations which were very helpful. The food was fabulous. I had the Tex-Mex salad and it was the best...The gumbo was really good and the bread in the gumbo was fantastic! French Market Grille is definitely a stop you need to make if you are in Augusta :)
This is a wonderful restaurant. A very high quality place. The owner routinely walks through and talks to the customers to make sure their satisfied. The food is awesome. Im told that all of it is good but I wouldnt know since I always order the same thing...the seafood stuffed trout followed by the peanut butter pie for dessert. This is my favorite meal.....ever.Friendly staff, very clean restaurant, nice New Orleans themed decorations with occasional golf pictures in honor of the masters tournament and the players who have stopped here for dinner.
Such inconsistency. Never the same experience even though we try and try. Oysters 26.00 a dozen and the size of nickels, scallop dinner 28.00 and they are bay scallops , not sea scallops. Maybe they think people dont know the difference. Waitress acted like we were a bother, I dont think she made eye contact one time. 2 stars for the excellent bartender we had before we got a table. Matt, you saved our date night with your service and delicious drinks. New owner needs to watch out. Lots of competition out there, Able Brown, here we come.
Great food and service! The Po boys were good, the Crawfish queso was great and the lemon cream pie was incredible. Katie was our server and was attentive and friendly, she timed it perfectly so I didnt have a mouth full of food when she asked if we needed anything, thats true service. Well definitely be stopping by again whenever were in Augusta.
One word would describe my lunch: Unremarkable. I will remark, however in hopes it helps others out. I dined here on a Saturday around 11:30am. I was so excited to try the place out since it is right down the street from our new home. I left disappointed. The first thing I ordered was the soup sampler. It was just ok. The best of the three was the “she crab” but that was really salty, the other two were really bland. I then ordered the sashimi Tuna salad for me and the Mac and cheese for both my boys. The tuna came out a darker color than I would have hoped, room temp on a bed of iceberg lettuce with a sprinkling of yellow bell peppers. The salad dressing came on the side, thankfully. The whole salad had zero taste. I ate the tuna and left the rest. The Mac and cheese was out of a box and certainly nothing special. The best part of the meal was the waiter who was a delight. He looked after us and made sure we had plenty of water and extra utensils (since my 4 year old kept dropping them on the floor). This restaurant needs some serious improvements on the foods execution for me to consider going back. Such a shame, the menu looked amazing.
The problem was, not enough aircondioning. It was stuffy and not nearly enough air flow. And in these days you need air circulation because of Covid19 and its variances. We sat at a booth and the shelves have not been dusted in a very long time. Customers do notice these things so atleast try to dust occasionally!
Family night on Saturday, we picked French Market Grill. We have dined there numerous times. I really enjoy the She Crab Soup. On that particular night, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. They wee really bland, nothing but grits and grossly over cooked shrimp. I have eaten that dish all over.....Charleston, Athens, Louisiana. It was by far the worst that I have ever eaten. Server was really nice, worked really hard to keep us in drinks. She did a great job. Disappointed in my meal. The rest of our party ordered salads and were satisfied with their meal.
My server was amazing, probably the best part of the experience. Ordered the mint vinaigrette on my and loved it. The crab chop was a huge disappointment however. The crab meat was just a mangled mess so it didnt hold much crab flavor. If youve ever had a crab cake, this will just upset you. The wife ordered a steak and lobster. For the price, youd think that the tail would be of decent size but it wasnt. Had the dessert sampler, and they were obviously frozen cheese cakes. I cant say that any of it was gross, but for the price and the fanfare, I cant say what makes it worth going to.
Start with a cup of she crab soup... respectable version and the Sherry on the side makes it perfect. Good service, nice atmosphere, perfect for a date night, and less boisterous than the location in Martinez. All of the seafood is well cooked, tender, sweet, and respected. This is a standard place for me and is my second favorite in Surrey Center.
Service slow, table wobbly BUT everything else was spot on. Friendly server. Food was delicious - we had the seafood au gratin, crab chop and beef tenderloin fillet which was cooked perfectly, medium rare. The lemon pie and coffee were a perfect end. The only food item I was not impressed with was the she crab soup. Not enough crab, flavor was bland - tasted like a plain roux.
My husband and I visited here on a Saturday around 3. There were only 4 tables sat so one might expect quick service. Unfortunately that was not the case. The ordering and drinks were quick but after that the waitress was hard to find and the food took forever. My she-crab soup was super bland and the veggie pasta sauce tasted like nothing. Even Alfredo sauce from a jar would have been better. My husbands Au gratin didnt have much flavor either. Bread was delicious though. Beautiful restaurant but then our waitress tried to pull a fast one (or maybe not) and over billed us for something we had not ordered. For a $55 tab that included 2 waters, this place wont be seeing us again.
The food was good, but seemed overpriced. We had a 6:30 reservation, but still had to wait 10 minutes to be seated (which is better than the 45 minute wait time the host quoted a couple without reservations). I was told by our server that they didnt have Caesar salads due to an ecoli concern, but not ten minutes later, at an adjacent table, I overheard a different server giving a Caesar salad to another customer.
I just had higher expectations for a 30 dollar meal restaurantBoth of our meals were over cooked, very dry.My fish was not fried well at all. Patatos were very dry and old looking. Very surprising that they would even serve them. Low standards from the cook , I had all fried food and nothing wet on my plate but yet everything was soggy on the bottom. ( didnt drain oil before plating)I paid for a 4 star meal and received a Second rate one at best$110.00 w/ drinks was left on the plate so needless to say I was disappointedService was great
Food is great. These po boys are the best po boys that i have had since leaving Louisiana. The service was very helpful with menu questions and very friendly. The only complaint that i had was that the dining area was extremely loud. This is not the restaurants fault, but the room does seem to be very loud when several tables are talking at the same time. They also have a full bar with lots of choices.
Considered a local, I have been eating here for 30 years. The food is delicious, prompt and most of all temperature correct. The servers are attentive as well as accommodating, and the owners recognize their customers. Those who had concerns about the food, or an occasional server blunder, it was rare occurrence. Try them again, and some of French Markets famous desserts.
The food was Louisiana style. I had shrimp Creole. My husband had seafood Gumbo. The wait staff was pleasant and very busy, but everything came out on time. Our reservation was for 8:15pm and we were seated at 8:30pm. I casually mentioned that it was my birthday to the host, and he told the waiter, so I received a free dessert. It was a lemon cheesecake, and it was delicious.
Shrimp were way over cooked (steamed). They offered to replace them but I declined. The crab chop was tasteless and gooey. The potatoes were dry and unflavorful (could not taste the garlic or butter). The filet was perfect however and the waitress was great (Sonya). Just not impressed at all overall with the food and at $74 for just my dad and me, quite overpriced.
My FAVORITE place in the CSRA. Like seriously. Such a treat to be able to go to eat here. I normally make it for lunch hours, but on this occasion I was there at night and went all out. Service was amazing, I wish I could remember her name. She was a little older with dark brown hair. So attentive and friendly/talkative, which is what I love whe I am by myself. Gumbo was phenomenal with the perfect amount of shrimp and spices. The special was fried green tomatoes. And they were fried perfectly. The spicy ranch sauce that came with them was absolutely delectable. As for my entree, I ordered the trount amandine. My 1st appearance of it. It was not sure whether I was going to like it or not, but I was quickly proved wrong. Both trout and potatoes were the perfect finish to this big meal, as I did not save room for dessert. Also worth adding, the in house starter sauce was the best starter I have ever had. I was hesitant to try, as I typically do not like tarter, but Im so glad my gut told me to try it. Cannot wait til next time!
My friend booked a party of 20 for her birthday in advance and we show up and they have no remembrance of her reservation. The manager was rude with no remorse and did not even try to accommodate us. We had to leave and go somewhere else! They lost out on so much business. EAT ELSEWHERE!
My entire family is from Louisiana. I have been enjoying cajun cuisine all my life. From the Lou to Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia I welcome experiencing new cajun joints. This place is not that authentic, from my perspective. The flavors are muted. The shrimp lacked any taste. While the gumbo was decent, the rest of our food was just average. I do agree with other comments about the staff. They seem complacent and unconcerned, generally. Not worth a revisit.
I will never return to the French Market Grille again. What used to be a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere is no longer the case here in Augusta. Tonight while walking to the restroom, I overheard two employees who were presumably enjoying drinks after their shift, being rudely asked to leave. There has clearly been a change in ownership and policies, which I fear is not for the better. If a business does not value its employees in the same manner as which it values its customers, it is surely bound for failure. I will make sure to recommend that all of my friends, family and Masters fans to patronize somewhere else in the future.
My first visit to French Market with my sister. So, we went by the reviews & the ratings were good. Mind you my sister & I have gone to New Orleans numerous times. Well, she ordered the honey pecan chicken. It was flavorless. It was bland. I ordered the crawfish pasta. The pasta was flavorful , but the dish wasnt even hot. It felt like it had been sitting out for awhile. French Market only gets 3 stars for the customer service. the server was prompt, courteous, & knowledgeable. Overall, the food is a 2. The prices are not reasonable for the quality of the food. I came out better eating at Rhineharts.
Prices posted on the menu online are not the prices you will find on the menu when you get there. Expect 3 to 5 dollars more at least per item. What looks initially like a good and affordable place to eat suddenly becomes an expensive one. The glass of riesling was 6$ and ok (Hogue from Germany-$23 for the bottle). The tray of 12 oysters was $29. These oysters were tasteless and they were like washed with water after being chucked. Very disappointing...The quality of the service is good but if the food is not right, it makes the whole experience worthless. If there was a real chef in that restaurant, he would have never let these oysters be served to customers. I was supposed to order the duck as my entree, but changed my mind after the oyster experience. I talked to two managers but they were both unreceptive. Becks may be a better place if you are in the area. I would not recommend that dinning place to anybody at all.
When you walk in there is also shrimp, crawfish, etc on display to order... (surprisingly there is no smell) I love ordering the fried green tomatoes the layout is beautiful and very clean and crispy. I always order the gumbo usually to eat there or to go. I love the texture and the fact that it isnt slimy how some people think its supposed to be but you can tell that they took their time on the base.
What can I say other than perfection at its best. If you want authentic Cajun food like in New Orleans, this is the place to go and their gumbo and oysters are to die for. Service is excellent and the food is brought to you in a timely manner and most importantly, hot.
The only good thing about this place was the waiter. My boyfriend got crawfish and they were really dry with no juice and no flavor and the head was like rubber. My experience was way worse I took a bite of my scallop and lost my breath with a taste of ammonia and my boyfriend and I smelled it and it was really strong. So there scallops were rotten I guess you could say because that’s the first sign of bad seafood if you look it up. I do not recommend this place at all!! If you can’t beat a chain seafood restaurant like red lobster then you probably shouldn’t have one.
I ate here recently for the first time in two decades, and what was once a happening place has lost its fastball. The ambiance just seems tired, and the wait staff seemed to know the FMG no longer retained its former glory and were understandingly going through the motions. The food was ok, but not memorable. Ill instead choose to remember this place from the 90s when it was truly worth remembering.
I love ordering the fried green tomatoes the layout is beautiful and very clean and crispy. I always order the gumbo usually to eat there or to go. I love the texture and the fact that it isnt slimy how some people think its supposed to be but you can tell that they took their time on the base.
Always love the French Market Grill and this visit was no exception. Our waiter was training a new staff member & between the 2 we had fantastic service. An older lady sat at the table beside us & appeared to be by herself, but the entire crew talked with her & a few sat with her taking the time to make her feel special❤
All of the food here is good. Everything is clean and fresh. I used to work here. Ive worked at many restaurants in the last 15 years. This is the best run restaurant in town. The people work together and the foods quality is very important. The owners are outstanding people. I cant say enough good things about this restaurant. It is definitely the best restaurant in Augusta in so many ways and not just the food.
We took our friend to this restaurant for her birthday. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Although our food was cold, it was corrected by the manager for those of us that wanted a fresh plate. Others preferred the meal to be removed from their check, which the manager agreed to do. When we received our checks, our niece advthe waitress that her meal was not removed. The waitress, Brittany, stood over our heads and yelled “WELL YOU DIDN’T SAY THAT WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS COMPLAINING “. Throwing her hands in the air with serious neck movement. Our niece responded with affirmation that the meal would be removed and threw the check holder on the table. The waitress then picked up the check holder and threw it hitting our niece and the person sitting next to her in the chest and neck area. Needless to say, it went downhill from there. Tempers flared. The waitress ran to the back. My friend fell trying to calm the situation. Georgia’s finest arrived and did NOTHING about the waitress assaulting the customers. The manager, Walter, apologized. I paid $28 for a ribeye that was bland. I’ve NEVER experienced anything like this. I would not recommend this restaurant because it’s overpriced for the quality of the meal—-no seasoning, no taste.
Only one word can describe the food here --- LAZY. The presentation was poor, the taste was lacking in flavor. We had a large bowl of the She Crab soup. I had to add salt, pepper, and hot sauce to even finish it. It was extremely watered down. I ordered the Seafood Au Gratin. Again, it had absolutely no flavor and was also watery. My boyfriend ordered the West Bank Duo with the filet and crab chop. The filet was almost rubbery when he tried to cut into it even cooked medium rare. It also lacked flavor. The crab chop was burned on the bottom, completely black. I give it 2 stars only because our waitress was very friendly even with the large group we had. For the amount of money we spent here, it was only worth about 30% of what we paid. Terrible excuse for a fine dining experience even in Augusta. Why so many people enjoy it, I will never know. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Got a bowl of gumbo to go. Gumbo has a awesome flavor just had far too many big chunks of trinity and not enough shrimp sausage and chicken. No bread or crackers included with order.2nd time was the charm. Loaded with seafood like first time I ate there. Great flavor as always.
I came here a few months ago and the seafood quiche was delicious., but todays meal was not good at all. The crawfish pie was terrible and bland...the rice came out cold. On the otherhand, my friend enjoyed the catfish Po Boy if it did not have the coleslaw.I just wish my experience was much more enjoyable. The service was good however.
Had lunch here - really tasty omelette. Menu was varied and reasonably priced. Would recommend eating here if in town although there seemed to be loads of places to eat in town.great place to take kids or fish and chips, burgers, salads, coffee or even a beer , fully licensed eat here quite often.
Three stars instead of one only because of the great server. My meal wasnt worth $28. I paid $10 for six very very small oysters. The manager, I assume he was the manager, was holding training for more than half of my meal. There must have been ten servers being trained on wine. Im totally fine with training but he was very loud. They should hold training in a separate room, not where people are trying to enjoy their meal. On the other hand, Im pretty confident I can push you into buying that second bottle of wine you dont really want. He even bragged about all the corks he took home at night when he was a server. The bar area was hopping. A lot of locals were drinking and the more they drank, the louder they got . Im OK with that. The bar area is small so they crowded the area between the front door and the tables.
Quaint taste of Louisiana with friendly faces and great service. The shrimpuletta was fresh and yummy. My friends enjoy the crab chop. Will go again for sure. No reservations needed. FYI, cellphones should be on silent. It’s encouraged to engage with your party and not use your cell in the restaurant.
This is one thing I miss about living in Augusta. Great food, great atmosphere. Be aware however, if you are not into Cajun spices, Creole type food, or seafood, this is not the place for you. Me and my hubby loved it however. Great appetizers, like the pate, and there is an avacado dressing that is out of this world! My favorite thing I got (not sure if they still have them at this location), was the seafood crepes, YUM! There are two locations, the menus are a little different depending on which one you go to. Great for a dressy casual date night. Classy, good music, dim lighting at night.
I cant believe they can get away with charging such high prices for terrible food in general let alone calling their food Cajun & Creole. I have had several bad to mediocre meals here thinking it has to have its good reviews because of something. However I have realized that people here in Augusta we so desperate for truly good fine dinning that they have convinced themselves that the food is acceptable just because of the high price tag. Please save your money and look elsewhere. I have had some good meals at a few fine dinning places here in Augusta and also some mom and pop home cooking little shops. Please please realize that high prices do not equal good food. To me this restaurant feels like I am at a cheap car dealership trying to pass off a piece of junk as a limited addition release.
Etouffe is highly over priced for getting no creole flavor and previously frozen shrimp that were not cleaned/deveined. The crab cake also had no creole flavor and is mostly filling with just enough crab meat so you can tell it has it in it. However, if you are looking for a jumbo lump crab cake this is definitely not it. Best thing about the visit was the young lady that waited on me. Dont bother with the wine and liquor. Way over priced. They will need to make some improvements before i would eat there again.
Quintessential Augusta GA Love EVERYTHING from the bar to dessert. Best place for relaxing and enjoying dinner or just a cocktail. Great service and the bonus of running into old friends. Its like the Goldilocks of restaurants- not too loud, not too quiet, not too dark, not too bright, etc. Its JUST RIGHT!
Rude service. Waiter Patrick was the worst! My fiance and I sat a hour and a half and never received a meal. Only thing I was served was water and that was by the hostess. Also the owner was present but of coarse he didnt have anything to say to a person of color but he made sure to speak with everyone else in the room. No problem there.. I just will not return and make sure everyone else I know feels the same way.
I ate dinner on May 2, 2014. Before dinner, they bring out the bread, unfortunately I cut into the bread and look at the bottom and it had mold on it. I asked for the Manager, Chuck Baldwin was not there that evening. I told the (Black lady) who was in charge and she took the bread and never came back to say sorry about that or even offered new bread. This was by far my worst experience there and will not be going back anytime soon. Service could have been better.
This place sucks a drunk man came in talking to my son saying don`t be anything in this world, but this waitress name Jacquelyn was amazing she is always nice and has a smile on her face if you ,go always ask her. Always another good waitress is Desmond he good always. the place also smells terrible and don`t let get started on their bathrooms .
My husband and I ordered 2 catfish po boys and an oyster po boy it totaled 40.00 and was HORRIBLE! it was very sloppy the bread was soggy, the cole slaw was disgusting, and the catfish had absolutely no flavor! The same goes for the oysters po boy! This restaurant had great reviews so I thought the food would be good and for the price we paid I was very disappointed! Worse Cajun food Ive ever had! We would of been better off going to Popeyes and getting a po boy! Waste of time and money! Will not be going back! Nice staff good Service tasteless food!
I only gave 1 star because the option of 0 stars was not an option. The service was under par. We were offered plenty of water, but it took nearly an hour for just complimentary bread. I am originally from Louisiana and I would not recommend this as even an imitation Louisiana restaurant.
Use to be great back in the day, but it has severely fallen off in the past few years. Service is sub par, food is merely average at best, and the prices have gone up. What use to be a go to recommended Augusta spot is now a place I wouldnt recommend to anyone.Appears to be a sentiment shared by many Ive talked to about this place. Severe quality dip from its heyday.
Every year when our birthday comes around we pick a place wed love to go to dinner to celebrate; unfortunately this year my sister picked French Market Grille. We arrived at 5pm, only a few couples were there at that time. Seeing this we assumed we would get excellent service and of course a wonderful meal.......My sister liked her meal, but my mothers and mine were horrible.( I had the stuffed seafood there was about a half a cup of bread crumbs dumped literally on top of it covering 4 shrimp-no other seafood. The service was the worst I think I might have ever had anywhere! We were a small group of only 3. To have to wait for everything from a napkin and silverware to asking and being asked if we would like a refill on our drinks to never getting either in over 2 hours. Waiter also dropped a tomato in my mothers iced tea from the salad. It took almost 20 minutes to even get our credit card back after paying bill. NEVER WILL DINE HERE AGAIN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The seafood plater was horrible. Had it blackened first. Greasy. Sent it back, had it grilled. Samething, greasy. How do you get greasy on a grill? Dont clean it I guess. For $25 should have been way better. Wife had the crawfish remulade from the dinner menue. 1 slice of lettuce and what looked like peanut butter, would not have covered a piece of bread. $11. This place is below sub par as far as food quality. Service is good. Not good enough to bring us back.
Uhhh waited over an hour for Oyesters and they had pieces of shell in them. They also appeared to have sat under a heat lamp for a long time while the bartender, who barely served us, told me they were on the way with a not my problem attitude. Talked to manager who only made exuses after I showed him the pieces of shell I spit out of every Oyester I tried. Seriously some of the worst service and food Ive had. FYI: This is the first restaurant review Ive honestly ever done. Wouldve passed up on this one but this was so bad that I felt compelled to share.

2021-07-23I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. We had the shrimp pasta special and a 5 oz filet and both were phenomenal. The food is seasoned extremely well and the bread and salads were a nice starter. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy and they have a really lovely screened in outdoor dining area. The portions are good given the price and I would definitely come back. I do wish their menu had gator bites as their online menu suggested but you can’t win them all.

2022-05-08Today was me and my family first time at French Market Grille. It was about 16 of us out celebrating Mother’s Day for their Mother’s Day brunch. From beginning to end of experience there were a lot of hiccups. 1.) When we get there they don’t have our reservation. I literally had to show them my call log to show that I called on 5/2 to make reservation with a manager. I was told I had to make reservation with manager because we had a party bigger than 10. I’m guessing the manager I spoke to did not write down our reservation (wish I could remember name of manager I made my reservation with)…..the staff today was pretty nice about the situation and honored my reservation and continuously made sure that we were good the whole time. This is the only reason I’m giving 3 stars because of the kindness of staff…2.) A couple of the dishes were dirty (see picture). My niece had to get two different cups because every drinking cup that was given to her had dirt and specks on it as well as the plates. 3.) They ran out of waffles. If you’re throwing brunch you should try to keep your most popular item in stock. Chicken and waffles are usually a popular brunch item. 4.) They ran out of to go plates and gave my mom a big aluminum pan, like the ones used at a cookout 😂…(see picture) it was funny but then it’s like come on man really lol.Overall it was an okay experience. If it wasn’t for the manager guy coming to check on me and my family consistently then I would’ve gave 1 or 2 stars. The food was okay nothing too special to rave about. My niece crab cake was mushy, no flavor. The shrimp and grits was okay. I was expecting some andouille sausage and peppers in it but it was just plain cheese grits with fried shrimp dropped on top of it, not mixed in. The decor is outdated and it’s pretty old and a little dirty inside as well. Not sure if I’ll go back. We just wanted to go because we heard great reviews but our experience was subpar.

2022-03-06Entire staff was amazing.Had to send back blackened fish because it was too salty. They immediately brought me the menu and I chose a different meal it was fresh. Although I didnt really like it I was impressed at how the staff went out of there way to make me happy. They were closing but allowed us to stay until we were done.Kudos to the staff.$$$$ priceyIf you love seafood its the place to go

2022-06-20Everything was delicious with a cajun flair. Our service was excellent with just the right pace. We took our own wine, but they had several good selections on their list. Chicken Liver pate was a nice add to the otherwise pedestrian cheese board. House made dressing won the day on a meager salad. The crab chop is historic and met the hype. Overall, it felt like the place wants to be fine dinning, but plate presentation just doesnt get there.

2022-02-15My boyfriend and I came here to eat on the weekend. Even though it was busy, service was great & restrooms were clean. The wait staff was professional and friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful but also very casual & relaxed. We felt like we were treated with the uptmost respect and our waiter was exceptional! He made us feel like we were old friends, we never felt rushed, he was quick about keeping the table cleared and getting our food order in at the appropriate time. It seemed like every table was thoroughly enjoying their meal experience. My boyfriend had Mudbugs and blackened chicken pasta, and I had a steak dish that was perfect! I highly recommend this place and Im looking forward to going back again.

2022-01-23DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FOOD QUALITY - I have eaten here over the last 30 years and consider this restaurant one of my favorites. Since new ownership the quality of the gumbo - which I love has gone done hill. My gumbo had NO shrimp in it and it was runny!!!!I had to order extra rice to make it thick like gumbo should be. I also ordered a side salad - the lettuce was old looking and not crisp and served chilled under the prior ownership.I am sure the French Market grill in NA is a better bet now than this location. I hope the new owner is hearing this feedback....

2022-03-31The food was amazing, the she crab soup was super tasty, we also had the crepes and the au gratin, noooo complaints there! Service def could have been better though, we didn’t see our server after we received our food. Which sucks because I was really looking forward to dessert. We even had to get another server to bring us our bill.

2022-04-03We had my husband’s birthday dinner there last Friday nite. The entire staff was amazing! Our waiter Dez was so awesome. He was very attentive and handle all of our requests very professionally. He knew the food and drinks menu which made our experience the best dinner service we have ever received. He suggested the stuffed trout which was incredible amazing. When we go back we want him to our server. Also CUDOS to the manager Shannon who was super friendly! Costumer service was off the chain. We hadn’t been in awhile but we will definitely be going back soon!

2022-03-08Went for lunch with a large group of friends. They had no trouble accommodating our group and the waitress was delightful. I recommend the Crepes Louisiana and their amazing bread pudding.
