First off- our waitress was great and very accommodating. The bartender made an amazing cocktail. However, one of their staples is the Pork Chop cooked medium by the chef. I agreed. When I cut into it- it was completely rare. Had to send back. Upon arrival, it was burnt and my vegetable sides were still raw. My wifes steak was covered in soy sauce and extremely salty, with raw vegetables as well. The garlic aioli with our fries had been sitting out for hours looked more like custard. Our date night was a nightmare. They did comp our food. We tipped the waitress and will not return. Sad that quality is not important anymore.
By far the best service we’ve ever received! My fiancé and I had Josh as our server tonight. He went over the menu with us and was extremely accommodating! You can tell he wanted us to have a good experience. Our drinks were never close to empty and he even came over to wipe away our crumbs before our next course. The food was impeccable and definitely worth the price we paid! 10/10 definitely recommend Frog Hollow!
Theres a reason its consistently rated as the best restaurant in Augusta. The staff is extremely friendly and they all know the menu front and back, along with the farm-to-table setup they follow. This time around I got their filet, but always make sure to get the wedge salad just because of that bacon! Always worth the time and price.
We were more than happy with everything from beginning to end. Our drinks, appetizers, meals, dessert and serves were all excellent. Josh was our server and he was right on point. And he has something when he addressed me as Dear instead of Maam. That just hits you different as you get older. More servers should take note of this little tidbit. And btw...the mac and cheese is everything they rave about, but surprisingly even better. I had the pork shoulder and my husband the swordfish. Both were perfect. Oh yeah...and those collard greens. Yes, I loved it all.
Great atmosphere, some people in suits and some in dresses, myself in boots and shorts. Best Mac and cheese in GA, so I hear, must go and try it for yourself. Our waitress Nia, is amazing. She is fantastic at her job and was a treat to have as our server. I hope we get her again. Thanks for the birthday cake, even though I was a little resistant at first.
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. We ordered the asparagus crab bisque, the pork shoulder with smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and collard greens and the shrimp and grits for our entrees and the chocolate bacon nougat and creme brûlée.. everything was amazing! Our bartender/waitress, Candice, was a delight!
First of all. I have visited Frog Hollow several times. The food is normally very good also the customer service. My last 2 visit at this restaurant have been horrible with there host and there managers on duty. Ive made reservations and have been seated 30 min or later after my reservation time, have spoken with both managers and neither had any compassion or understanding for my point of view. The hosted told my wife a lie about why partys were being seated before us. And when I spoke with manager she gave us a apology and Non chalantly told us to enjoy our meal. After finding out that the hosted done this to us she no nothing. This is the 2nd time in a row that weve been treated like this. The first time i brought in a party of 8 and was treated the same way!! So Im a person of color, Im starting to fill like my business is not wanted or valued at this restaurant. This is not a Longhorn,Outback or a chain restaurant. I would have liked to been shown more respect than this, for what you pay to dine here.Lastly to my people of color i will not eat here again. I suggest we all find another place to eat!!
I visited this Frog Hollow on my visit to Augusta and the stay was horrible such a horrible experience. Upon our last night I was searching the web for a good place to eat and figured with our luck and service we had experienced we didn’t look for it to change. OH, how I was SO wrong. This place is just awesome! The food is Devine and just sinful. I had the lamb and it’s nothing like you’ll taste anywhere in the WORLD.The workers are so kind. I wished I could just zap them back to my home town the restaurant and all. Thank you Frog Hollow you lit a light on us where we had experience nothing but darkness in Augusta GA. I never plan to come that way again but if I do. Frog Hollow here I come. Irma Wilkerson
Awesome establishment.Party of 5 arrived about 15 mins behind schedule. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and offered a place to sit while waiting for the rest of our party. Seated within 10 mins. Great drinks. Had mussels for appetizers and they were great. Bone in pork chop is my favorite!
This place is stunning in every respect and one of the early foodie fighting gems of Augustas true foodie scene in the attempt to truly raise the bar for the culture and not only did so, but surpassed all expectations. Everything from the esthetic to the hospitality to of course, the cuisine, would match the best of any community anywhere really. Augusta is blessed by this place.
You need a reservation here. We didnt know that when we got there right as they opened & had to be seated at the bar. The food may be good, but we left without trying it. I am vegetarian & there was only 1 vegetarian meal on the menu for $32 & it wasnt a favorite dish of mine.
Came for a birthday dinner and ordered the off menu item Blue Crab cake. Overall taste was good until our friend bit into crab shell and swallowed some as well. When we brought this up to our server Savanna she was cavalier and dismissive demeanor about the shell. She then took it to the back and then brought out the plate again and said it was just an occupational hazard with crab cakes and asked if our friend wanted to finish the remaining part. We then asked if all the items were prepared in house and was told yes they get the crab and make it in house. We requested a manager to come to the table and when she arrived and did not introduce herself to the table she was asked the same question about the food and she said no we get the crab already pulled from the shell and we just make the cake in house. She was not very concerned about having shell in the cake. She also said that it is a risk you take and called it again an occupational food hazard. We asked what they were going to do with the meal on the bill and she acted like she was going to do nothing for this issue. The bill reflected 50%off the item. Also they said they charge an outside dessert charge of $1.25 per slice of cake we had brought. The bill reflected $1.50 per slice and this is only a quarter difference but you need to be correct on your price. Also once we had the issue the night went down hill. They removed all dishes off the table including over a half of plate of fries and then also tried to take a dish as our friend was still eating out of the bowl. Then as we were doing dessert Savanna continued to give us nasty looks and was very short when time for the checks. Also was short and rude when picking them back up. I feel bad for Josh because he was amazing and his partner cost him money because we only left the gratuity of 20% and no extra. I feel that this place had a good vibe until you have an issue. I would love to speak with the owners and let them take time to respond. I believe if you dont know what people are doing in your business you can not have the equal chance to correct the situation.
The customer service is poor, and the hostess was rude and very disrespectfulWhen we went, the food was fine. I was very disappointed, and I would not return if I could give them fewer stars; I would just on the customer service experience. We had reservations and had been waiting, and another couple had reservations that were later than ours and sat down before us. The manager did nothing to correct the error but apologized over for the hostess lies. We were very disappointed and really could not enjoy our dinner because it was just brushed off like you got a table now so just sit down and shut upThe hostess and managers are definitely not doing it justice. Consider starting over with them and hiring staff or holding them to higher standards.Following prodacall first come first serve motto. Thus is out the door here or just depending on who you are but the last I thought all money is green !!!!!!
Butcher steak was amazing, strong drinks, great service (Josh from Canada was awesome!) Our 12th anniversary, 4th celebrated at Frog Hollow, was made all the better with Josh as our waiter. He made great recommendations, was attentive throughout the night, and all around just great person. Thank you for making our night special!
This was our 2nd time having dinner here and I must say It was better the 2nd time around. I am a Pescatarian and eat salmon ALL the time. But the way they seasoned the red snapper made me want more-I wanted the tail, the head, all of it!!! My one neg is how much Arugula was served with the Crabcake. You could hardly see the crabcake on the plate; maybe if they added some pesto sauce or something else it would look a little better. Otherwise it was a great dinner evening.
The food and the service here were quite exceptional. When I made my reservation, they had a notes option to which I put that it was my 6 year wedding anniversary. When we arrived and checked in, the hostess and waitress both wished us happy anniversary multiple times. We also had a note at our table as well. While a small act, it really made the night special for the both of us.
To much time watching Top Chef on television and not enough time on the actual skill of Culinary art. This restaurant is solely based on the presentation of smoking mirrors. The menu consist of reduction sauces, and half hearted television show presentation to hide the lack of substance and skill. This a restaurant that is supposed to be Fine Dining in the Augusta area. I went to have dinner here on New Years Eve. Instead of waiting we decided to eat at the bar. I was informed the bone in Ribeyeis the only steak they will cook well done which was something I had never heard before. The food was served. My first impression was a decent presentation. I cut into my steak and it was medium rare not the well done which I ordered. I inform the bartender and she sends the steak back to the chef. It takes about thirty minutes and it is brought back to me. The steak had been cut from the bone in order to cook it, which was disheartening. I cut the steak and taste a piece. There was no flavor and only a taste of burned meat. I tell the bartender this is unacceptable. She says to me that I should have kept it. I said it was rare not well done and she says too bad and takes it. She then ask if I would like something else. I order a salad instead because at this point I am disheartened. The salad is brought to me and it is a literally the top quarter portion of a lettuce head with a supposedly sherry vinegarette (white sauce) poured over it that gives of the strong aroma of mayonnaise. The other guess at the bar start laughing and ask what is that. I am at this point just upset by the whole experience. The cheeses cake consisted of an over abundance of cream cheese and lacked flavor.
I had such an amazing experience, I went back the following day. I was only in town for a few days and was happy to find a great place for dinner. The first night I had the halibut special and a side of risotto. Both were incredible. The next night I had clams and the tomato salad. I could eat the tomato salad every day. I sat at the bar both nights and had outstanding service. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning if ever in the area.
We had a table of 8 the day after Thanksgiving. The place was packed and the service was fantastic. We had several appitizers, and all of them were great. The Shrimp & Grits was incredible as the shrimp was perfectly cooked and not rubbery. We dont live in Augusta, but I would drive there for dinner.
First time we came to frog hollow, it was fantastic from the time we walked through the door until the time we left. Second and third time the quality of food decline slightly, still good, but didn’t match the first experience we had. The last time we were here, service was fantastic, food was good, but the front desk staff and the manager on duty gave us a very hard time for us to be sat. We reserve a table for 3 and my wife and I showed up a little early. We sat and waited until our rsvp time, and ordered some cocktails. My wife got hungry and my friend ran a little late, we request to be sat so we can start order some appetizers. The host decline is, and said all parties must be together in order to be sat. I can understand the requirement if it is a large party, but for a party of 3, I am baffled. I request for the manager, and the manager told us that she can sit us, and possibly give us bread but the waitress will not do anything more, because all they don’t want to repeat the features multiple time. I was floored, and at that point I wanted to walk out. To offer us bread, and telling us we won’t get service until a party of 3 is fulfilled so a waitress don’t have to repeat the feature is ridiculous. The rest of the evening was fine, we skipped the cold bread when it was brought.Update- The establishment leadership took immediate action by calling and listening to the event that took place. It shows that this establish has a really strong organization and care about their customers. Everyone has an off night, but by bouncing back with a simple phone call is fantastic. I was very impressive by the how passionate the leadership was about ensure that their guest are properly treated.I am now a huge fan.
We went here for our anniversary a few days ago, and we had reservations before coming. Theyre open at 5, we came at 5:30 when it wasnt so busy, but then it got much busier later on. The waiter was very nice to us, and they were cognizant of the fact that it was our anniversary. The food quality was great, but the portions were rather small. I had the famous pork chop and my wife had a braised lamb shoulder. Overall the quality of the food is excellent as always, but I would have a hard time coming here for dinner regularly because the prices are very high. Only come here for special occasions.
This post is for those looking for a vegetarian option:Let me begin by saying the staff and service is spectacular (three of the four times I have been). I am posting regarding last visit where we brought friends who had never eaten there before. This was my fourth visit and the reason I will most likely not return unless I am attending a group event and have no choice. When I made the reservation, I specifically mentioned that two vegetarians will be at dinner that night.I have had one good meal out of the four visits. Vegetarian dishes do not exist unless you order sides. I am not a true vegetarian, but my friend is. (I do not eat meat often and would much prefer everything else compared to meat.)The vegetables served with the specials are exceptional; however, to try to order them as a meal is not allowed due to the limited number of servings. The server even approached the table and said, I hear we have two vegetarians tonight. And then informed us we can just order sides. When I asked about the root vegetables with pecans like I had last time, she said they could not do that. (The one good meal I had on the last visit, I ordered the pork chop and said without the pork chop just so I could get the root vegetable hash. So, I paid the pork chop price just for a plate of vegetables. But, I also felt as an important patron since they tried to accommodate me.) This last visit was not the case.On this particular evening, I had the risotto, mac and cheese, and broccoli. The mac and cheese is famous. It had a beautiful smoked gouda flavor but so incredibly dry. The broccoli was steamed to a perfect fork-tender; however, there was so much cayenne or red pepper flakes on it that the two of us who had the broccoli could not even enjoy it or finish it because the pepper was overpowering. The presentation was lacking. Great effort seems to be made on the meat entrées while my sides were haphazardly dropped on a plate. My husband enjoyed his pork shoulder. His mac and cheese was overly dry. As far as our dinner guests that night; the gentleman enjoyed his steak but could not eat the broccoli. His wife, who is vegetarian and allergic to dairy, did not. Her only option was some arugula on some apples. So, we ordered another bottle of wine and laughed about it all, but I am so embarrassed at the experience. When I made the reservations, I shared the allergy and the vegetarian requests thinking they would plan for the two extra people wanting vegetables.Disappointing.
Its been over a year since I have been but Im sure the review is worth telling.Me and my date had already eaten at another restaurant but their dessert menu was terrible. We heard that frog hollow tavern had the best dessert menu for a decent price so we cheated on the first place with this place. Phenomenal! The service was outstanding. We were greeted upon entering with the most courteous of question, Hi how are you? Would you be dining for two? And we told her no we would just like dessert so anyone dining can go first. And they let us wait in the most comfortable waiting area with a served drink. When we got a table the waitress came to the table prepared with a dessert menu and helped us choose what we wanted. She gave excellent descriptions without prompt or hesitation. She knew what she was talking about. The desserts came as fast as they could and were delicious. Perfect portions. Perfect taste. Worth every penny! Will visit again soon hopefully.
Coming in and seating was good. We made reservations and they were on time with the seats. The bread was brought out with butter. I didnt care for the bread or the butter. It didnt have any flavor. Maybe I am used to LongHorn steakhouse with the bread and butter. I ordered the duck appetizer with the peaches. It was ok but the portion was small. Extremely small for the amount $$. The person I went with ordered the salad with the blue cheese. I think she enjoyed it. The drinks were on point. That I can say. I had the sugar plum (I think thats what its called) and she had the drink with the cinnamon stick. Both were amazing, I got a couple more while I was there. I ordered the duck with greens and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was the best Ive tasted in a long time. The absolute best. The greens were on point as well. Probably the best Ive tasted in a restaurant this year. I also got the duck, it was ok. It was cooked right but didnt have the flavor that Ive known with duck. So, I could have went with something else. She got the ribeye steak. She said that it was cooked just right but lacked the flavor in seasoning like it needed. I also ordered the cheesecake for desert. Nope! Never had cheesecake so bad. I brought it home thinking that it may have been the sugar in the drinks that messed up my taste buds. Nope! Took about a bite and a half at the house and went straight to the trash. Scale from 1-10: Duck appetizer 4; bread and butter 2; drinks 10; greens 10; mac and cheese 12; duck entre 3; steak 5; cheesecake 1.
Every dish we tried was delicious. The salmon literally melted in our mouth, the pork shoulder was so tender and flavorful, the schnitzel and pork chop were cooked to perfection. I believe you could order anything on the menu and be impressed by the quality.Victoria was our server. She provided superb, attentive service, and all of her recommendations were spot-on. She made our anniversary dinner even more memorable.Highly recommend FHT to anyone.
Very fresh ingredients and nice atmosphere. The braised pork shoulder was tender on the outside but somewhat tough on the inside. The collard greens tasted like an ethnic ancestor passes the recipe down to the kitchen. The mac and cheese had a good flavor but the consistency was stiff and a bit dry. The shrimp and grits were very good! A must try. Be advised that the staff is very rigid and inflexible in terms of their seating policy. They will not seat you if even one person of your party is missing, even if the majority are there.
This is a foodie destination spot. Yes, the decor and open arrangement of the restaurant are attractive - including the seasonal flower arrangements. But, it’s the attention to detail and extra effort made for all courses that makes this restaurant an impressive experience. The cocktail menu is creative ( the peach/basil/bourbon smash is delicious. ) Wait until you hear the specials before deciding the dinner courses. Baked oyster appetizer is fresh and tasty. We tried various pork and vegetable dishes, had to share. Leave room for dessert. Wine selection by glass and bottle is great and not too overpriced.
This was easily the best meal we’ve had in the 3 years of living here. The ingredients are all fresh and farm to table. Our waitress, Nia, was phenomenal. She took the experience to the next level and deserves all of the praise/raises/promotions from the owner and management. She was able to accurately tell us what we would enjoy and was willing to be a part of our adventure to try new things and helped surprise us with items off of the menu when we couldn’t choose. The chef(s) did a fantastic job at pairing ingredients you wouldn’t normally think go together and created beautiful dishes. We will definitely be back for our next nice night out.
Fantastic! I mean really. Pricey but exceeded my expectations. 5 stars for food and ambiance! We had the the pork belly for appetizer, ribeye, shrimp and grits, and side of mac and cheese and wow! Everything we had was incredible and the service was very professional and attentive. Will absolutely be going back next time we are wanting a more upscale dinner.
Everything about the experience was awesome. The atmosphere was elegant and light. The servers knew everything about the menu and made ordering a delight. I had the pork chop. I cannot describe how delectable each bite was. I have never tasted anything that good. To be honest every bit of my meal was an experience I will never forget. Please do not miss an opportunity to dine with them.
Pork chops were some of the best, however, everything else was underwhelming. The service was top notch. What I didnt enjoy were the clam and scallop appetizers. There were too many onions and the bread dissolved in the broth too quickly. The broth had the taste of burnt from the bread. I was ignored by employees as I scooped the bread out of my broth and disposed of it upon my shells uneaten. However, the pork chops were so amazing that the appetizer wasnt worth complaining about. Im torn on attempting on giving the restaurant another chance in comparison of the additional upscale dining in the CRSA and Aiken area.
First time here and I will not return. My family and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. It was nine of us there. Our reservation was made over the phone a week in advanced. We waited over a hour on the waiters to get our table together. We spoke with the manager and she was very unprofessional and extremely sarcastic. Her exact words were “Well it’s handled now so why are you complaining. Just have some drinks and relax”. In total our bill was $385 dollars. Not only that our waiter barely came to the table but made sure everyone else was cared for perfectly. There food and customer service does not represent the so called up scale environment that they promote.
I hear this place is rated number 1 in Augusta. I couldn’t agree more, it has to be true. From the minute I walked in until I left, I felt like part of the family. I had one of the best steaks (cooked to near perfection) and salads! The bar is action packed, probably not a drink they can’t make. I had an Old Fashioned that was impressive! A must try if visiting Augusta
I do not give this 5-star review lightly!! The best service I’ve ever had. Attentive wait staff, amazing locally sourced food, fancy, simple and delicious coursed meals. I’ve never had a bisque before, but the blue crab bisque (not pictured) was so light and fresh and delicious I will have to come back. The mushrooms on the large plate were even better than the steak! And the clams and the clam juice and sourdough were divine. They plated my friend’s cupcakes from the bakery with a candle at the end of dinner and our servers wished her a Happy Birthday when she walked in. Amazing service and food! Will be back to try the craft cocktails as I was the DD this time!
Tonight we went to Frog Hollow Tavern for our 41st anniversary and as per usual it was phenomenal! The atmosphere, drinks. food, and service were the best in Augusta hands down! If you haven’t been, you must go! There is no where in Augusta like it! Thanks to Sean, Amy, and Alex for a wonderful night out!
Wonderful fine dining experience!Youll be required to park on the street, but parking availability is plentiful. Just be prepared to walk a half block to a block. We had a reservation for 8:30p and when we arrived we were placed at the top of the waiting list, a table wasnt ready for us when we arrived but Im not dropping the star review since this is a pretty standard policy for most restaurants. Our server was Jack and she was amazing. Its obvious she takes her job serious and her service was very impressive. We will all to be seated in her area when we go again. The food was amazing and sourced from local farms. They also have nightly off-menu specials.Must have: Lasagna style macaroni and cheese!!!Will definitely be going back and would recommend to everyone.
A cornerstone to Augusta cuisine, Frog Hollow Tavern brings farm to table ingredients in the midst spectacular ways. Located in the heart of Augusta, FHT has an array of dishes but they lean on their superb pork cuts. If you ever find yourself in Augusta, make it a point to visit this amazing restaurant
OMG! The food was so delicious it literally brought tears to my eyes. I have been dying to go there for a few years now and Frog Hollow definitely did not disappoint. The food exceeded my expectations and so did the service. Helen was amazing and described the dishes in such a way it made you want to taste everything. The pork chop was literally heaven in my mouth, seasoned to perfection. The North Carolina Apple Carpaccio was like nothing I ever tasted before, the blue cheese offset the sweetness of the apple and it was just delight in every bite. The mac and cheese, oh my, layers of goodness. They definitely get 5 stars in my book!
Really lovely dinner. We didnt have a reservation and ended up eating at the bar. Service starts right when you walk in the door... nice little couches to wait for our seating and a server to take cocktail orders. Cocktails were very well made. All entrees were flavorful and balanced. Ended with a smooth lemon goat cheesecake with cherries.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere, friendly staff and some great menu choices. Our server was very helpful and made some great meal recommendations. We will definitely be back again and highly recommend this local neighborhood gem! What a wonderful treat this was for us during our visit to Augusta!
I have eaten here several times before and the food has always been good. However, I need to downgrade my opinion of this place as I went with a friend to eat here tonight and was served a spoiled scallop, which in itself is not ideal but with good customer service doesn’t have to ruin a night. I told the waitstaff that my scallop smelled and tasted like ammonia which basically means it’s bad and no one should be eating it. The girl took it and never came back. No explanation from the staff, no apology, no refund, nothing. If that’s how they treat their customers, thinking it’s fine to serve them spoiled food, then I don’t need to spend my money here and neither should you.
Hands down the best place on Broad Street for upscale dining. Pairings are awesome, staff is great and the food is even better. The horseradish crusted beef tenderloin seduced my palate. The experience is brag worthy!Probably now my 4th or 5th time back and this place never fails to appease the food palette. From the layers of flavor in their precisely paired dishes, to the libations then the superb service accompanied with amazing food knowledge & personality is an all in one whole packaging pairing with a phenomenal experience, everytime!
Saturday evening dinner for 4 adults. Good location in walkable old downtown setting, service is attentive and the bar is adequate. The farm to table offerings are a bit meager. Vegetable choices were extremely limited (kale, wedge salad maybe one other choice - collards?). Swordfish was passable but not impressive. Flourless chocolate cake was a treat. Nice place. Probably better off sticking with meat and potatoes here.
Frog Hollow is one of my favorite farm to table restaurants, and I hope to visit there again soon. The meal we had was absolutely spectacular. My husband had the ribeye with potatoes and I had the show stopper. Braised Berkshire pork shoulder with a smoked tomato pork jus, served with vinegar braised collards, and wait for it... Smoked. Gouda. Mac ‘n Cheese. Let’s have a moment of silence for the Mac ‘n cheese y’all. This was some of the best I’ve ever had. Ever. Also, being from the south, is extremely picky about my greens. This was the only restaurant the I have ever been to that served them perfectly. Perfectly. Bravo Frog Hollow! Bravo!
Amazing Food. The Grilled Angus Butcher’s Steak is really good and comes with House Cut Fries, Bearnaise Sauce, and Roasted Garlic Aioli. I substituted the fries with their famous Mac and cheese. It is the best around. Staff was excellent. Great date place. We will be back.
Very very very HORRIBLE customer service, they may as well put NO BLACKS allowed on the door. When asked for manager the door greater laughed ! When the manager arrived she was just as nasty. The worst birthday experience EVER! I’ll be leaving reviews ok every platform! Along with the others the rest of my party!!
The atmosphere was nice. The drinks were great. The servers are phenomenal. Unfortunately, the food isnt all that. They have great flavor ideas but not the finesse to make the flavors pop. I had the rib eye. It was just ok. My husband tried the shrimp and grits. It was awful.
Absolutely fabulous! Unique cuisine. Food was delicious. Our waitress, Jacqueline, was awesome. My daughter is gluten free and dairy free. Chefs prepared a special side to go with her sea bass. I had shrimp and grits that was wonderful. The andouille sausage is mouthwatering. Well worth the trip.
My wife and I recently had a reservation at this restaurant for 8:45pm and we showed up at 8:35pm expecting to wait maybe 15-20 mins for the table to be ready. We waited till 9:15 pm until we eventually just left because our table still wasn’t ready. 30 mins after a reservation is made is way to long. No one in the staff even approached us to apologize or give us updates for the wait. Not sure I would go back with the way the reservations are handled.
Hands down the best restaurant to go to in Georgia. The food was amazing and the tea hive cocktail we ordered was so different it brought my taste back to life. Our waiter Cory carried us the whole way because we didn’t know what to get 😂. Cory was awesome the place is awesome I think I’m hooked on this place now! Prices are pretty cheap too
My husband and I had a fantastic experience here! We made reservations a few days in advance, and upon arrival we were seated immediately. Our server, Cory, was incredible. He made the menu come to life. He was so expressive and clearly had tried everything on the menu. Overall, we had a wonderful evening and will definitely come back!
The food is phenomenal, the service is fantastic. The servers know the menu and have no problem answering any questions about it. I dont usually like grits because they tend to be bland, but Frog Hollow makes grits that taste like heaven. All the food is farm to table, made in house. Their cocktails are as well, they make their mixers in house whenever possible. It is expensive, definitely a special occasion deal, but honestly worth saving up for.
The entire staff at Frog Hollow are exceptional! They made the entire party feel welcomed and special. Jack, our main server, was a delight! Everyone who came to our table was professional and personable. The food is delicious. The complete experience was spectacular!.
I took my wife here for our 3rd anniversary, and it was better than I expected. The atmosphere was very romantic, and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. We really appreciate how the food is all locally grown and harvested. It was very fresh and extremely flavorful. My wifes shrimp & grits was truly phenomenal! I highly recommend this place! Its a must while youre in the Augusta area.
There are just so many beers on tap! The peanuts were pretty good. Im never going to pass up boiled peanuts on a menu! And the pretzels were actually surprisingly good. The beer cheese they were served with was absolutely out of this world. We got a large portion of the cheese for just 3 pretzel sticks, so we ended up having to pay for more pretzels
The service and food were excellent with one minor setback. This was our first time to the Frog Hollow Tavern and we enjoyed our visit. Would have rated a 5 but we had to ask for my wifes Pork Loin to be taken back to cook some more but otherwise the food was very tasty. We will visit here again!

My friend treated me to Frog Hollow for my birthday and what a great evening we had! Our server, Cole, was very composed and thorough although the place was packed and buzzing! He was kind, knowledgeable and paid just the right amount of attention to us. We had the in-house, caramelized bacon and mussels for an appetizer accompanied by wine. So amazing! For the main course we both had the pork shoulder, and let me tell you... thats the most tender, flavorful and rich piece of meat I have ever had! The side dishes were delectable... the mac&cheese was more like a cheese lasagna block and especially delicious! The collard greens were bright and tangy in contrast. They have a great wine list and some unique whiskey offerings.I cant wait to visit your establishment again. My parents will be visiting soon, and I think this would be just the spot to take them out to!
For the first time, we visited for an anniversary dinner after hearing such wonderful things. Frog Hollow did not disappoint! Our waiter was excellent. Who knew that his telling of that evenings menu would actually be entertaining and engaging? Very neat. Frog Hollow is unlike any other restaurant Ive been to in the CSRA, no wonder its such a hit!
Very small portions for the price based of the caliber of restaurant. Its a half-measure attempt at a 4 star experience, but a solid 3 to 3.5 in dining standards. Food is good, a true custom flavor that sets it apart from standard chains. More diversity in the menu would have been welcome. Its definitely a place to visit on occasion for a change of pace in dining, but i can think of other places that i would try before going back.
I’m here in Augusta for the first, not much to do on Broadway Street. It is quiet. I decide since I had NOT EATEN since yesterday (2-13-2020), I would try next door to Hyatt (where I am a quest). I stopped in earlier in the day to ask a few questions, as this restaurant is RESERVATION ONLY unless you want to sit at the bar. I did NOT mine that at all; so I returned to Frog & Hollow after walking around for a while. Well, the entire time that I was there, the young behind the bar (waitress) talked to the REGULARS, and showed the great service; however, EVERY TIME I requested a re-fill, it was delayed while she waited on people from one end of the bar to the other end, while I STILL WAITED. It wasn’t until she looked in my direction, that she would seem to remember that I had requested more tea (over 10+ minutes ago). I would sit with this look OF “I’m paying as well, so why can’t I receive the SAME level of service as the others around me. She even took time to explain the things that Frog & Holly are known for to another couple whom she asked had they ever been there before. I wasn’t asked. She knew that I WASN’T a regular, I DO NOT LIVE IN GEORGIA, but she never offered this commentary to me about Frog & Hollow; she ALSO MESSED UP MY ORDER BIG TIME. I told her that I wanted my STEAK (medium well), I want very little red showing in it. Well, when I received my Steak, it was VERY RED inside. (I know normally people would say, you want it well done. NO, because then it is almost burnt); so I take the time to explain how I want my steak. This is habitual with me every where I go. I ate it with a feeling of wanting to throw up. My family can tell u, mom does NOT like her steaks “still bleeding” as I call it. So, I was disappointed, already a little irritated at the things I was seeing, so I DECIDED NOT TO SAY ANYTHING, and FORCE MYSELF TO EAT THE “UNDESIRED” meal. I had NOT EATEN SINCE YESTERDAY. She even poured the lady on the end another glass of wine while she was gone to the restroom, and at that time, I was STILL WAITING for another tea. I STARTED TO LEAVE A PENNY, for I’m determined NOT TO ALLOW ANYTHING TO MESS UP MY VACATION!ONE DAY PEOPLE WILL REALIZE THAT THE GOAL IS AN “ON-GOING BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP, NOT A ONE-TIME VISIT! AND YES, it may look like much repeat business now, but there are a lot of stores up and down BROADWAY ST. that are CLOSED!
Oh yea this is good stuff. I havent been there in a while, i dont know if covid has them shut down. but thats a good place for a nice meal. you pay a little bit but you get what you pay for. its been a while like i said so i cant recommend anything. All amazing. We ended with the caramel apple crumble.
From our first moment until our last, the staff treated us like special guests with attention when needed and space when we wished. From the atypical drink requested from the bar to our final dessert, the food was delicious and wonderfully prepared and presented. There are few restaurants anywhere that provide such an enjoyable experience.
I made reservations for Frog Hallow a month ahead of our trip to Augusta to celebrate our anniversary. It came highly recommended by our local friends, service was everything we expected and more! Our server Jack was friendly, professional and altogether awesome. I knew from minute one this was going to be a positive review she absolutely knocked it out of the park.We loved the restaurants concept, commited to being farm to table. The fried okra starter was great, Pork chop and shoulder were absolutely heavenly and the Mac and cheese was a religious experience. We plan on returning to Augusta often and I can guarantee that we will be coming back here as soon as we can!Follow-up: Visited again 5 months later, the food is still to die for and Jack is still the best server ever!
Best Mac and Cheese I have ever had. This is seriously the best place for date night in Augusta. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Pricey as far as Augusta standards go, but by far the best restaurant in town. Worth every penny!
Finally made it past the reservation monster and had a wonderful dinner. The pork chop was excellent. The fresh seafood was great. The grilled oysters almost had us ordering more. The only issue I can see to be more inclusive there needs to be some more menu items sans pork.
If there was a bright spot to my evacuation it was having dinner at Frog Hollow on Broad Street in Augusta, GA. A farm to table restaurant; It was simply extraordinary in every way. Not only did I get to spend some time with my best friends. I enjoyed an amazing dining experience. When life deals you lemons you have to make lemonade. I will always remember Rebecca. She is a rather rare jewel and exemplary of someone who loves her job.
Chef Sean A. Wight has done it again. The Frog Hollow Tavern family style dinners for mothers day were a great success. My family had the Beef Wellington and it was fantastic! This restaurants success will continue as long as they continue to produce quality food and services!
Delicious! Definitely a great high end restaurant in downtown Augusta. There are a lot of things on the menu that you cannot go wrong with. I have enjoyed the duck breast and their fresh seafood options. I like that the food is locally sourced. I have also had excellent service the two times I have been here. They also have a seasonal cocktail menu that typically has some good stuff on there.
We went for date night for the 1st time and it was amazing! We had reservations & got there about 10mins prior. Once we were seated, the wait for bread and our food took a long time but it was worth it! We were so hungry that I forgot to take pics of what we had lol. The food, atmosphere, decor and ambiance was really nice! I had the pork chop w/risotto and smoked gouda mac & cheese and my boyfriend had the steak(cant remember the cut) w/mac & cheese & vegetables. The mac & cheese was very rich but flavorful. Both meals along with our drinks was great!
Been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while now just because it sounded like something me and the wife would enjoy. The pictures online for Frog Hollow do not give it justice. The ambiance was wonderful from walking in and I immediately noticed it didnt look like the pictures on Google. Normally I would have taken some myself but this was a special occasion and didnt want to be rude. I ordered the pork shoulder. With this plate it came with wonderful tasting collard greens(not used to them being that sweet but it was delicious), 2 very large onion rings which tasted amazing, and the best side of the meal was the layered smoked Gouda mac n cheese. I put quotations around that because its not really macaroni but by far was one of the most delightful things on my plate. The pork shoulder itself fell apart as soon as I started to cut into it and it was great. We had a drink called the Tea Hive. GET THIS DRINK. It tastes like the South for lack of a better way to describe it really. It is made with Honeysuckle vodka, dash of sage flavor, lemon, and honey. It was one of the best cocktails Ive had since moving to Georgia/South Carolina region and would go back just for it and a good conversation. We sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome at her job. She was taking care of all the people at the bar by herself and was just getting stuff done. Highly suggest going here. If anything was wrong or kinda ehh about Frog Hollow, it would have been the hostess when we walked in. She might have been new, not totally sure, but the way she approached talking to us could have had less attitude laced in with it. Overall great experience.
I have absolutely no clue how anyplace can make food this great. I was impressed with the onset of walking through the doors. Farm to table is the motto and everything was delicately placed when served. Extremely upscale place with modest prices expected for the Augusta area. I can guarantee this place will be revisited by myself when I have the hankering for only the best of flavors this town has to offer.
Frog Hollow used to be my go to restaurant where I could be guaranteed a great meal, however my last visit (August, 24th) was so disappointing, my husband said he wont go back! The waitress offered us the special Port Chop Entree which is usually sooo good, she told us it was cooked, Medium, and asked if that was , OK?. My husband agreed, but it came to him well done and greasy. The side accompanying the chop was just a pile of croutons with feta cheese that did not taste good at all. A nice bit of greens would have pared much better. My entree, the special fish that night, was over cooked and dry. The waiter who delivered our meal to the table asked my husband if he would like another beer, he said, Yes. The waiter said hed bring it, right out, but my husband never got it. The waitress we had NEVER asked my husband if he wanted another drink. (First rule of serving 101, ALWAYS ask your customers if they want another drink). Really disappointed with the meal and service that night. For the money they charge I expect excellent service and even better food. Didnt get either.
Frog Hollow is one of those marvelous places that hits 9 out of 10 times you visit. They are the farm to table concept with the menu changing based on the ingredients availability. If they have the pork chop, I highly recommend it. They also age some of their own bitters and other drink ingredients and have a rotation of cocktails based on availability of ingredients. This is in addition to a large wine selection, of which they recork and send home any undrank wine from the bottles you buy.If it is a special occasion, primarily when we eat there, then I highly recommend making reservations, especially if it is a Friday or Saturday. It can be a bit pricey, but we have never felt we overpaid, and outside of that 1 out of 10 visits have never even really questioned if it was worth it.
Fine dining done right. From the ambience to the food, everything was great, including the service. It can be a little pricey here but its well worth it. The meal portions are good unlike most other fine dining establishments and I felt like I got my monies worth and my wife was very pleased as well. A definite go
This restaurant has topped the list of all the other restaurants in the CSRA. Let me start by saying the service was impeccable. I have never experienced the level of service and attention to detail that the staff provided. Ally was our waitress and was phenomenal. Now on to the food. It exceeded all my expectations. Absolutely delicious. We tried things we had never eaten and was blown away. This is a definite must return to restaurant. If you ask me to sum up my experience, simply EXCEPTIONAL.
This is one of the best Augusta has to offer. My wife and I went for dinner on a Friday night and were in no way disappointed. We had some small plates (roasted oysters were amazing). House-made andouille sausage was equally awesome. The 14 oz. pork chop was the best I’ve ever had. We also had the pork belly and it was truly perfectly prepared. The Mac & Cheese was made like a layered lasagna and it worked. The staff was excellent the décor was very nostalgic and we loved our visit. We have lived in Augusta for over a year now and we have paid twice as much for meals which were not equal to this.
The attention to detail and quality of the food experience made for an enjoyable meal. They have an extensive menu of wines by the bottle of by the glass if you so choose, as well as a nice selection of beers and and other drinks. The food itself was fantastic; try the pork chop, it was definitely a winner.
Beautiful place, I havent gotten a chance to eat there yet, but I can already tell its amazing! Will update as soon as I do get time to stop in again. Everyone was very welcoming n friendly. There are 2 things in life you should splurge on, food (it fuels you) and comfort (your bedding, clothing). This place has both at the same time. The seating is comfortable, n the ambiance is very romantic.
We normally enjoy our experience at this restaurant, except for the seating. On one of our previous nights out, we were seated at one of the 2 2-top tables against the wall by the kitchen and felt very cramped/uncomfortable.Our experience Friday night for my birthday dinner was very frustrating. We contributed to the frustration by being an hour early (our granddaughters game was over early, and we decided to just go early for our 7 oclock reservation). When we arrived an hour early and spoke to the hostess, she said she would try to work us in. We were seated at a high top by the bar and enjoyed a drink. There were several tables/booths open that we watched that were 4-tops. We watched for an hour with couples coming in an being seated at these tables. After about 30 minutes, we asked the hostess if we could sit at one of the tables outside, but she said it was only for drinks. Finally, about 7:15, the hostess came by to tell us that the couple at the table she had for us should be leaving soon. I told her that if it was one of the 2-tops by the kitchen, that we were leaving. She said it was, but that there was another table that they were clearing that she could give us. We were finally seated at 7:20.We started to leave several times, but really didnt know where we could go on a Friday night and not have to wait for another hour or so to be seated. Our service and dinner, once seated, was good, but we were also very disappointed that we were not given any special treatment for either my birthday or the long wait. At a minimum, our drink at the bar should have been comped. If you go, be sure to call for your reservation and request a booth/table away from the kitchen ... and be sure not to be early!!!!
My husband took me to Frog Hollow for my birthday. We were quite impressed with the atmosphere and the service. Our waitresses were really helpful and accommodating. Our food was so good! I ordered the butcher steak with a side of fries. The portion was more like, would you like steak with your fries?, it was a HEAPING amount of fries. They were really good! The steak was amazing as well, and the portion of that was quite filling by itself. My husband ordered the crab cake, which was 90% crab meat, very little filler. It was good too. For dessert, we got a vanilla creme brulee. It was all very yummy and we cant wait to go back!
Excellent service and delicious food. We ordered the duck and pork chop with an extra side of collards. The duck was cooked medium rare and delicious. The pork chop fell apart in our mouths. For desert, we had the goat cheese cheesecake and a 20-year port. We highly recommend this restaurant.
This was probably the best restaurant I have been to. The service was great and the food even better. I was not expecting it to taste as good as it did and I give props to the chef for making such a delicious dish. I will be returning and recommend this restaurant to anyone that has a classy taste.
My husband and I went to Frog Hollow for our anniversary. The atmosphere was very welcoming. We were first greeted by Cory at our table. First he said happy anniversary, and then went on to tell us all about the history of the restaurant. Shortly after that Megan (our server) greeted us. She also acknowledged our anniversary. She told us all about to off menu items that were available. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable she was about the ingredients and where they came from. Mostly i was impressed with the way that she made us feel like some good friends of hers. I honestly will only sit at her table every time that I go. We ordered the pork chop with Mac n cheese and collard greens along with the shrimp and grits. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake, peach buckle and creme brûlée. ALL of the food was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection, and the flavoring was incredible. I highly recommend this place for any occasion.
This is a great place to dine in Augusta GA. The food quality and ambiance were 5 star. Our server, Kate, was knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. Well ask for her again when we dine there again.Bottom line: go there. Youll enjoy your dining experience. Now for our quibbles:Noise.Go to the back room if you want to hold a decent conversation. The main dining area was noisy. The conversation at each table ramped up as more diners were seated. And some of that conversation was the staff presenting the menu to the diners. See our comments below.Menu PresentationWe dropped one star for the presentation of the menu items. It was long, complicated, and unnecessary. The food on the menu is sourced locally or regionally when possible, which is a positive feature. This feature was printed on the menu, but it was also unnecessarily presented verbally, lecture-like. The menu also used arcane descriptions for common food items. This approach might be appropriate in culinary school, but it was not helpful in choosing a menu item. It needs to be dumbed down to an understandable level.Draft BeerThe wine and spirits choices were plentiful and top-notch. The draft beer choices were too trendy for our liking. The craft beer craze seems to have blinded this restaurant into presenting draft beer choices to the latest hip offerings while minimizing the staples like pilsner, lager, ale, porter, stout. For example, there were no Yuengling or Sam Adams traditional lagers or ales available on draft. This omission is almost sinful. The regular beers were available by the bottle or can, but its just not the same as draft.
It was so refreshing to dine out last night at my favorite restaurant and see those lovely familiar faces. Thank you, Frog Hollow, for setting the bar so high with your rigid adherence to COVID guidelines. Not for one moment did we feel at risk. On the contrary, we were able to thoroughly enjoy our impeccable wines + flawless entrées (tender gnocchi with spring peas and the perennial favorite pork shoulder) knowing that patron safety was a top priority.
I live 5 minutes from downtown Greenville, S.C. so I eat at a lot of really awesome restaurants, but will have to say that this one is at the top of my list. Very simple as well as fancy with super great food! Highly recommend to anyone, and is my go to place while in Augusta.
I have been to many places that overcharge for the food. Whereas I do not mind paying, I expect the food to be on par with the price. I pay for atmosphere, service, A+ food quality, and an overall great experience. Frog Hollow Tavern delivered, and I feel to have gotten my moneys worth. Let me emphasise the food. It was delectable. They cook the meat to medium. My choice is medium-well. I like a little char. It was perfect.Overall, I recommend this place to any one that wants a smooth atmosphere with low decibels and great tasting well proportioned food.
Its was good. The cost verses service is what lost the 5th star. Three times I had to get out of my chair to find my waiter. Food was good, I expected a little more by the way the waiter, when he came to the table, explained everything. I got the hanger steak and I can confidently say I prefer Outback or Longhorn Steakhouse. However, it was a very nice looking restaurant, they just really need to work on the service. At least the guy that was my waiter does. I wish I could remember his name...
My husband surprised me with a reservation here for my birthday. I had never even heard of it. We apparently had a reservation for 830 so at first I was disappointed with the wait because we didnt get seated until about 850. But once we got seated the atmosphere was awesome! And the food was AMAZING!!! Our server was excellent extremely knowledgeable and attentive. I had the pork chop and the smoked gouda Mac and cheese............AMAZING!!!!!!!!!Will definitely be back.
Every time we go to this restaurant the service and food or outstanding from beginning to end. Each course was phenomenal, but the pork chop and the greens are the stand outs to me. If you are any kind of a fan of bourbon, you have to try the Tavern Manhattan. The service was impeccable as well. Every time I leave I cant wait to go back.
We celebrated a delightful birthday for our daughter at Frog Hollow. Cory, our waiter, was knowledgeable and attentive without hovering and provided excellent service. Attention to detail and birthday wishes to our daughter from multiple staff made the evening very memorable. The food was excellent and plating was eye catching. We will be celebrating with y’all again!
Amazed at the level of training and professionalism in the staff here. I have worked at white tablecloth establishments for years in the past and can honestly say this place is among the best. Cole, our server, was spot on and the meals were fantastic. Zero complaints. Keep up the good work.
I love and deeply appreciate great food and have eaten countless truly great meals. All three of my meals at Frog Hollow are in my top 10. The flavors are exceptional and the staff is beyond professional. (Best staff at any restaurant Ive ever been to.. no exaggeration.)
This place is very unique. The best way to describe it is fine southern cuisine. They also do a lot of farm to table dishes which I respect because I want fresh food and I want to support local farmers. If you have not been here before do yourself a favor and give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Definitely in the top 5 of restaurants in the CSRA.
Came here to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. I made a reservation through OpenTable. The restaurant had a paper with Happy Anniversary on it for us. I thought that was really sweet. I loved the eggplant with powdered sugar. The mac n cheese is absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back here in the future. Love that its an upscale type restaurant downtown that stands out amongst the bars and clubs.
Outstanding service and the descriptions of each dish made our mouths water. Difficult decisions to make but we chose the mussels small plate as well as the eggplant fries. Neither disappointed! Large plate selection was the halibut with vegetables. Again, excellent decision. Our server, Alun, made our meal with thoughtful recommendations and unobtrusive interactions. Signature cocktails were truly enjoyed and the attention to detail was evident in each. The Tea Hive was enjoyed by my wife while I sampled their Negroni and Manhattan. Highly recommended.
Ok, I am going to be very harsh here. Because the price point of this place, I feel like, tightens the playing field. I am giving 5 stars, but I am going to give the negative first. #1. The pre meal bread was very bland. My wife makes homemade bread, and, in a side by side, there’s no comparison. We didn’t even eat it after trying it. #2. The decor is a bit weird, and, while that is personal opinion, I do wish they could do something to quieten the place acoustically. To many hard flat surfaces, the noise level was really high. Now, positives. Great waiter, wish I had gotten his name. Amazing coffee, loved the flavor. I got the porkchop over the cornbread casserole, that was one of, if not the, best porkchop(s) I have ever eaten. Kudo’s to whomever marinated, and grilled it. Will definitely be back, too expensive for us to go often, but that is ok. The price, overall, is justifiable. Just try to pick an eve other than saturday night, when its less busy/noisy, and skip the bread. :) Personal opinion! You will NOT regret going here though!
Locally sourced organic high quality food. Ive never eaten anything I didnt like there. They have ridiculously good powdered eggplant fries. We initially had trouble-to no fault of their own-with a reservation, but they accommodated us after bringing it to the managers attention. Its a smaller, upper-scale restaurant.
The best restaurant in town, hands down. Fresh and local, yes, but what brings me back time and time again is how incredibly delicious every bite of every single thing Ive ordered has been. I have favorites, sure, but with the ever-changing menu I enjoy ordering something new every time I eat at Frog Hollow... and a side of bacon if that new item doesnt come with it because Ive never had better bacon than theirs. Order appetizers, more entrees than you need, and desserts. Try it all. Everything will be good.
Best place to eat in Augusta by far. I ate in this restaurant twice and they tend to impress me every time. The menu is changing by season and there is something for everyone. Great selection of wine and fresh ingredients. The service is beyond excellente. You won’t regret it.
Pricey, but you dont mind because the food is inventive, from cutting edge to new takes on old standby comfort items. The entire front of house staff is knowledgeable without being either overly attentive or supercilious. Wine list is inclusive. Augustins are fortunate to have Sean Wright culinary vision literally at their fingertips.
Frog Hollow is a very warm, beautifully appointed, atmospheric restaurant. They offer a broad menu with a few less than common items. If a bit pricey, they are somewhat justified by the quality of the food and the extraordinary service. In addition to good food, an excellent selection of fine wine is available. For most, an evening at Frog Hollow is close to elegant.
This was our first experience at Frog Hollow. It did not disappoint at all. Jack was our waitress, which is short for Jacqueline. She gave the best recommendations on appetizer, entree, and dessert. She was highly attentive and we didnt have to wait on anything. We highly recommend eating here and we will definitely be back again! The cocktails were quite amazing, too. We recommend the Saffron Sunset. 👌
We just left from celebrating our anniversary at Frog Hollow. The service, attention, atmosphere, and food were all absolutely amazing! My husband enjoyed the Ribeye, and I had the pork shoulder. We finished our meal with the flourless chocolate cake, which was to die for! We will definitely return, and I have no doubt that we will be as equally pleased as we were tonight!
Top 5 meals Ive had in Augusta!Frog Hollow Tavern is now my favorite fine dining restaurant in Augusta.I took my fiancee here the night I proposed (before I proposed) because I wanted to make it a special nignt. We enjoyed everything about the experience. The service was great. The entire staff was extremely friendly. The hosts showed us to a seating area where we could order cocktails while we waited for our table. Our server, I think his name is Corey, was on top of everything. He made sure we had everything we needed and he was able to explain every single item on the menu from each individual ingredient to how the dish was prepared. The food was phenomenal. We had the grilled angus butcher steak, the crab cake special, a side of mac n cheese, and the dessert special (I cant remember what it was called). The steak was a hanger steak cut, cooked perfectly. It also came with a mound of fries. It seemed like 2 potatoes worth of fries. The crab cake special was serviced with a side of lightly sauteed arugula which was a nice, light addition to the dish. The crab cake itself was perfectly cooked and prepared. It was half a pound of almost completely lump, blue crab meat. The mac n cheese is an award winning dish for Frog Hollow Tavern. Instead of the traditional Mac N Cheese with elbow macaroni, this dish is more of a cheese lasagna/casserole. The cheese on top was perfectly crusted while the layers below remained tender and gooey.I cant remember the name of the dessert but it was a blueberry and peach cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Every bite of this desert was amazing and is making me want to go back for more. The ambiance was also very nice. Though the menu can be considered fine dining, the restaurant is relatively casual. I walked in wearing slacks and a button down shirt but a customer could be just as comfortable wearing a tshirt and shorts here. All the while, the wait staff still treats it like a fine dining experience from the way they pour your water to clearing the crumbs off of your table between courses.Thank you Corey and the rest of the staff at Frog Hollow Tavern. We will definitely be back and I 100% recommend this restaurant!
First-class dining in Downtown Augusta. This would even be considered a great restaurant in a big city like Atlanta, but the prices are more reasonable and the service is outstandingly friendly. Great wines and food make this a 5-star experience for a reasonable price. Can get busy on weekends. Located in a great part of downtown. After dinner, hit their sister restaurant Craft and Vine for excellent cocktails, snacks and wine. A+. Lucky to have this spot in Augusta. We need more like it! GREAT FOOD and VIBE.
Ill start by saying that I ended up leaving and crying in the truck while I waited for my husband to pay the bill for the horrible service and mediocre food we received for our 14th Anniversary dinner. (I gave them 2 stars because when weve been here before, it was good. But not tonight! Tonight, they dont even deserve half of a star!) I spoke with a manager about everything that was wrong and he offered us a free dessert and then explained that it would be free anyways because it was our anniversary. (Oh, that makes everything better! Giving us something free that would have been free anyways? Really?!! Thanks but no thanks!) We were so upset that we completely passed on dessert. We wont be back.
Perfect candlelit dinner with my wife and daughter. The wine was 1987 and had an oaky afterbirth; great texture. My child enjoyed the texture of the plates, and my wife enjoyed the llama milk cupcakes. The live entertainment was wonderful and the entertainers were dressed impeccably. The roombas were a bit agressive, but overall the experience was remarkable. Will be returning.
Simply amazing! My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary there. While the style is a bit casual there is nothing casual about the food. The last time we had food this good we were in a 5star restaurant in New York. However, there was a dish that we were just not too thrilled with ( while prepared with excellence - it was just not our favorite). The chef came out to talk with us. He then gave us replacement dishes at no charge and personally brought them to our table. Our waitress Bernie was knowledgeable, sweet, and went above and beyond to make this night special. Will definitely go again!
Wow! You have to try this amazing restaurant right here in Augusta, GA. I went here for my birthday and we had this amazing server name Alyssa, and she gave us 5 Star Top of the Line Service, and I think she may have even given me a dessert for free because it was my birthday, talk about a great server! There desserts are amazing too. I went with my girlfriend and we shared the andouille sausage small plate which was so elevated, refined, delicious, and classy, then of course we shared the crab cakes which were on special, and it was the most amazing crab cake Ive ever had, as it was nothing but 8 ounces of pure delicious crab meat and absolutely no filler. Incredible. Of course all our dishes were prepared perfectly. We also shared the Pork Shoulder dish that comes with greens and mac and cheese lasagna, and the Pork was so juicy, well cooked and seasoned, and the hint of a sweet and smokey BBQ sauce just elevated it over the top, and of course the presentation of all the dishes were so classy and sophisticated, so beautiful you hardly wanted to dig in and eat them. We tried the Creme Brulee and Cheese cake for desert and both were perfect and delicious, exactly what youd expect out of such a fine restaurant. Amazing service, 5 Star Food and Service, and the Food will actually simply change your life forever! You have to go to the restaurant. Also, the ambiance, decor, and environment are so Southern, quaint, classy. A must go in Augusta fine dining.
This is what fine dining is! Its really expensive but you get what you pay for. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Spouting off specials and entrees and their ingredients. The plates are actually big and filling! And Delicious! This is like once a year kinda dining for me but truly worth every penny!
We got the andouille sausage small plate to start. Great flavors, beautiful presentation. I love their house-made course grained mustard. For entrees I got the ribeye, which is served with potatoes and asparagus. My friend got the duck, and my mom got the pork chop. I think the Ribeye was the best choice. Though my husband said his duck was one of the best hes had
Yestarday my family friends were very nice to invite me to Frog Hollow, because they thought it’s one of the best restaurants in the area. My friends reserved and paid for the table, so it couldn’t be polite of me to complain about the food at the table, but the food was a way too salty. All three of us ordered the Braised Boarder Springs Lamb Shoulder. We kinda expected to get a good chunk of lamb, but instead we got a green pea stew which was extremely salty and like 1/3 of a lamb shank worth of lamb.We didn’t talk about the tase of the food at the table, but I could say my friends’ stew was as salty as mine by reading the faces. The service wasn’t that good either, because they don’t know that you need spoons at table when they bring you stew (The description on the menu wouldn’t say that you’re getting stew either). Although the desserts were yummy, I do NOT recommend this place at all.

2022-01-31Impeccable! Lets get money out of the way. Youre going to be spending quite a bit, but it is well worth it. For a party of two we totaled out at around $180+. Whether you are traveling through Augusta or simply looking for a recommendable place, this is it.Be sure to make reservations. We were fortunate to still get a table the same day; it was the last one available.Theres a nice lounge & seating area for those that arrive a bit early. A waitress may bring you drinks while you wait and socialize. As you are seated youll be greeted by knowledgeable and kind staff. The two dishes that struck my eyes were the sirloin steak and the gouda mac and cheese. Both were mouthwatering. I can highly recommend the cheesecake as well, very well made.

2021-12-11Almost 1,000 5-star reviews says volumes of this place. The food is always PERFECT; combine that with the atmosphere and youre in for an unforgettable evening. The staff are very accommodating and knowledgeable. One of the most upscale restaurants you will find in the area. Colleen has an amazing personality and is one of their best servers, definitely ask for her!

2021-12-20My significant other and I went to Augusta to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and asked friends in the area for recommendations. This was one of the top recommended restaurants and we were NOT disappointed. First off, we’re from Atlanta, so we’re used to really nice fine dining experiences. The food was absolutely incredible. We had steaks and the shrimp and grits as well as 2 appetizers and a side of Mac and cheese. We also had several cocktails that were creative and delicious!I’m writing this review in late December when we went the first week in November solely because it’s been on my mind to leave this review for Victoria, our incredible waitress. I know sometimes reviews can mean a lot to an owner (so I’m really hoping you see this!) and I think this woman deserves some sort of raise or bonus because she’s the best waitress I’ve had in years. She made our whole dining experience. Without her, it would’ve been great food and drinks, but she made the entire experience absolutely wonderful. We were a very late reservation, so by the end of our meal the restaurant closed. Yet she still came out with a chocolate dessert and creme brûlée on a tray, said it was on her and thanked us for spending our evening with them. She said to take as long as we wanted and that just meant so much to us. So thank you Victoria. We hope our paths cross again, you’re incredible 🤍

2021-07-18Solid. The sign says Frog Hollow but I think it should be Solid Prince! 👍 This place is a great dining spot in downtown Augusta. We were seated right away on a busy night so no reservation or table management issues, Jeremy was a great waiter and food came out promptly. The drinks and food was better than expected and everything tasted like a real chef was at work! And, although the restaurant was busy all night the noise level not too loud. I think my favorite thing was the service not just our waiter but really everyone there was very friendly while being totally professional.

2022-06-23I havent been there since April and I think about my meal at least twice a week. It was an amazing experience. Being seated took two cocktails and both I and my friend did our best to chill. When they took all four of us back to our table, the immediate reaction to the amazing smell and sights we saw on others plates quickly made any ire a non issue. The food was a 20 out of 10. If I never top this meal in my life, thats OK. But Ill be back. One day.

2021-12-18This was one of the first places we visited when we moved to Augusta. We were only slightly impressed the two times we came before and ultimately landed on some much more consistent options in the Evans/Martinez areas. With the quality of service that I have experienced since, we have spent the last 6 years taking ourselves to those places, knowing we would be satisfied with our food/experience/wine selections/cocktail creations. In hopes that we would be able to give our traveling family a new experience, we decided to entertain Frog Hollow again, despite our reserved feelings and 6 year hiatus from eating there, ultimately choosing other fine dining experiences elsewhere, including some wonderful options that have been established much closer to our home in the Evans area. The customer service is poor and the snarky hostess, Alyssa, is insolent. When we went, the food was fine, but I have not been impressed with anything outside of the kitchen or bar. The staff really turned what would have been a fine dining experience into a tug of war on if McDonald’s has better customer service. I was very disappointed, and I will not return and if I could give them less stars, I would. This is definitely not a FIVE STAR spot.If the Chef would like to retain new customers and or reach Atlanta-level style fine dining price points, the experience must be poured into and you must hire the right staff. The hostess and managers are definitely not doing doing it justice. Consider starting over with them and hiring elite staff or holding them to higher standards.
