Food was decent, but service was poor. We arrived and there had to be roughly 4-6 tables of customers (small parties) in the restaurant. Our waitress seemed to have no get up and go about herself and never returned to our table to ever ask us if we needed anything. We never recieved any refills; customer service was definitely lacking which is extremely disappointing considering the restaurant was not busy at all. Definitely will not be returning.... EVER.
Good food, nice pub. Not the best customer service. Went there to celebrate family members bday and when offering for the waitress to come back in the interest of her time, was given a startled offended response and treated not so well after. Waitress appeared easily offended, profiling & looking for the worst in people. Needless to say wasnt very happy share those moments with family. Food was good and rest of staff was chill.
A group of 4 of us stopped in at 3:00 p.m. on a Monday to a virtually empty bar which was awesome for us. Jukebox was playing rock hits and our bartender/waitress greeted us immediately. We were told to pick any table we liked and she came over promptly with menus and to take our drink orders. After ordering our food was delivered to us quickly; it looked and tasted delicious. Our bartender/waitress was very attentive to our needs and made several trips over just to make sure we had the full sodas. Reasonably priced and relatively inexpensive.
Worst service Ive ever received in my life, and I mean that sincerely. The staff wouldnt even look at our faces when we asked for a chair to sit in. The food was all burnt, three dishes didnt come out till an Hour after the others, our unskilled waitress did not come to our table at all despite being flagged down waved at and eye contact made, then had the audacity to ask for a tip.
Came here with a large group right at opening, and it turned out to be the right choice. The place is what it intends to be - good food, priced well, with a roomy atmosphere, that serves lots of regular people very well.I liked my French Dip very much. The fries were good, the iced tea was delicious, and all my friends left happy, exactly what we hoped for.It does have cafeteria style ordering if you like, but we were served by a waitress, who was friendly and accommodating to our large group size. Next time Im in Atlanta, I will gladly recommend going here again to my friends.
Drunk bartender received my $100 and rudely accused me of not paying also I was kicked out after asking he just take the time to rewind the cameras just to double check but he refused and kicked me out. and just because it’s your birthday does not give you the right to be drunk on the job! I will be back tomorrow to speak to the owner hopefully this can be rectified after watching the cameras!
Lunch service is counter ordered and picked up. Staff is very efficient and friendly, both behind the counter/bars and out on the floor. Chili is quick and pretty good. My favorite historically had been the shrimp poboy, but lately it has been overtoasted and oversauced. This results in a sandwich that is too fragile to close and eat as a sandwich, plus a lot of sauce mess. Next time I plan to ask them to not toast the bread and maybe put the sauce on the side. Im hoping that will help. They also have pretty standard fare like burgers and hot dogs.
I had pulled pork nachos & they were ok but they had tons of lettuce .. we ordered Buffalo wings but seems like they dipped them in Buffalo after they had already been dipped in barbecue for $15 that shouldn’t have even happened overall the place was cool. I would go back whenever I go back to Atlanta.
Located in the Hub Underground mall, we went there only because nothing else was open. Probably great for getting a late night beer as they are open til 1am from what the bartender to us. We ordered Shepards pie and a burger. It was good if you dont mind greasy Irish food. Maybe it was because it was late but it is a simple dish (Shepards pie) that a novice cook can get right. I have to give them 3 stars because 2 things ...the bartender asked fries with that regarding the burger of, of course my little one loves fries and we said sure. Burgers typically come with fries?? No? Or am I wrong?? The bartender should have said the fries are extra $$. Its just annoying. If you go because it is late in downtown ATL, definitely a good drinking holeLots of beers on tap and open lateSo maybe 4 stars for drinks?
I was in Gibneys after the Eric Church / George Strait concert. The bar was packed and we still had great service!!! Then I sadly lost my wallet. Well a delightful manager called me today to let me know she had it for safe keeping. I think she was as excited as I was! Being as customer service is my profession, its refreshing to know there are still folks out there that enjoying working with the public. I cant wait to get back to ATL and give them all my money :) Thank you for making my weekend perfect!
Horrible service after the Metallica concert. The server Brought my friend the wrong order after a long wait, took it away for 15 minutes, then brought the wrong order back cold and said hey we made the wrong thing will you eat this?! But he still had to pay, no comp and barely an apology. I waited seated for close to an hour and never got the pint I ordered. I realize it was crowded and they were understaffed, but the servers were super rude with zero customer service. Better off paying the higher prices at the Marriott bar across the street.
Our volleyball team is here for the weekend and our experience at Gibney’s Pub has been hands down THE BEST so far! The owner literally brought out tables and chairs to accommodate our group of parents, the service was quick & attentive and the food was amazing! I suggest this location to anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere, good service and great pub food options! We will certainly be back when we are in town next ❤️❤️
Quick service, really tasty food. I ordered Shepard pie and wings with a side of fries. The wings are really, really good and the Shepard pie had lots of flavor. The bartender that took my to go order was really sweet and funny. I will be returning soon to try other menu items.
Maybe the quality goes downhill when big conventions are in town, or maybe its a pandemic thing... But Im pretty sure my Fish and Chips came out of a frozen TV dinner box. :(. Mainly leaving this review so that next Dragon Con I dont make the same mistake and end up here again.
Really liked the food, price, and service here. The location is not set for City views, but we really liked the darker atmosphere. Everything we had was cooked well and had a great taste. We were here for lunch dining, so no alcoholic drinks. Hope to come here some day for a Happy Hour affair.
We visited this past weekend midday and there was no crowd so it was nice and cozy and quiet. This place has entrances via Peachtree mall or from the street. Great drinks. We enjoyed buffalo cheese dip, fries and mozzarella sticks. It was all excellent. The bartender was our server and he took good care of us!
I had doubts but we visited twice in 2 days this place was so awesome! Our waitress was amazing the first night! The buffalo chicken dip was exceptional. If youre looking for a nice place to have a few drinks and look at some sports, this is it! They even let you run the music selection and dont mind when your selections are a little strange!
Chili on my chili tater tots was more like beans with a little meat and a touch of chili and the chicken strip basket had 4 chicken tenders (that looked to actually be 2 chicken tenders cut in half and were almost burnt and the fries that came with it were less than a small order from McDonalds. The philli cheese steak sandwich was good, however. Not worth the money in my opinion.
Fish and chips are delicious.Philly steak is delicious.Burgers are delicious... not that Ive ever been here... ;)Erik is fabulous. Hes wonderful. Weve been here for a conference, and hes made us fall in love with this pub.If I lived here, Id come here for food, at least all the time, the staff and drinks are a bonus.
This restaurant is the one I like best. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this one I keep coming back again and again. The crew is very receptive and the cooking they cook is so flavorful. I never miss an opportunity to have a good dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.
The waitress was nice and we received our food along with our drinks from the bar in good time. Unfortunately it took a while after we finished eating to get our waitress to stop back at the table to just get our checks. Although this was my first time going and Im giving it 3 stars I still recommend stopping by.
Slow afternoon. The food came out quick and tasted very fresh. Tasted great too! The only gripe was the draft beer. Im not much of a fan of draft to begin with but it tasted a little old. Could have just been my taste being used to bottle vice draft. Also has bar games too! Would go again.
Im conflicted on this rating. As a pub with beer only, I enjoyed this place quite a lot. They had a list of local beers and I was able to expand my horizons. The food situation was odd, though and will not be for some diners.Be aware that you order beer at the bar or at the table, but you order food via a cafeteria style food counter. The food was good, but a little overpriced for food you stand to order and wait for before you sit.I cannot rate service as I was there during a convention. Service is bad everywhere due to the large numbers of people.Update:I returned to Gibneys the following year for the same convention. I was there a day before the massive crowds hit and so able to have service at a table a d really asses the place better.Their food is pretty solid! We actually returned there to eat a few times before we left the convention because we could get decent pub food, and great beer at a decent price and also be slightly away from the even crazier madness of the hotel bars. The service was great during the quieter hours of the week. At peak hours, service was as noted originally, and to be expected with that many people filtering in and out for a giant convention. They have a great jukebox too! Its one of those new digital kinds that has nearly every sing known to man. We had a great time with our music selection!Honestly, my friends and I will be making Gibneys The place to have a beer when we need a break from the crowds to re-charge with a classic pub atmosphere.
Not sure why only 3.9 stars at the time of this review, the food was excellent! It is a chill pub with good music, good beer on draft, and really good Irish fare. My wife had the Shepherds pie and it was delicious. My mouth is watering while I type this. I had the reuben sandwich, which was also excellent! I would definitely recommend this place over all the expensive places around here. Laid back and a great spot for good food & drinks. We will definitely be back when in town for events.
Cool little pub. stopped in while waiting on out hotel room to get ready. had a few beers, which in all honesty were a bit steep compared to what we are used to but not horrible. the service was fine and the decor was nice and clean. had some drinks and played golden tee. overall pleasant experience.
Cool pub with a pool table and great music. Not many great food options but the drinks were good. I ordered chips and salsa and the salsa tasted a bit old and sour and I could say it was definitely store-bought. Very close to many downtown hotels. Would recommend if you just want a quick drink or two.Edit: typo - wouldnt -> would.
We met with friends at this spot for dinner. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was very successful. The crew welcomed us with a smile and we felt fantastic. The meal was yummy. We enjoyed every moment and we will visit this place again. We recommend this place to all.
We had Gibneys for lunch and the food was good. I had a patty melt and tater tots. It came out fast, it was hot and fresh and it was delicious. Prices were fine. The restuarant wa crowded but it was like a fast food place. Order at a counter, get your food, find a table. If was a great place to get a burger and fries (tots) and a beer (they have a full bar, since... you know, its a pub.) I liked it and will be back.
I meet some friends here for drinks and appetizers after work. The service was incredibly fast and friendly. The fried pickers were a hit. Casadieas were good as well. They had a nice selection of beer and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation. I would recommend this place for after work get togethers
Im generally only in the area during DragonCon, so my perception is a bit warped. I think youre supposed to order in the back... But not drinks? Im never quite sure how to order a beer here. Do I walk to the bar? Will there be a waitress? Do I flag someone down?I suggest the Shepards pie. It was completely filling without the need for a side.Accessible from the street OR from inside the Peachtree center.
We were doing the what do you want to eat song and dance and came across this gem. Great food, good portions, not bad pricing. Jordan was great and knowledgeable and friendly. Only problem is it got a bit hot. This was an awesome change of pace from the tourist spots.
Fantastic service by Andrew who really ensured that we had a great time during our visit. This is a very laid-back place to enjoy a drink, watch a game, have snacks and socialize. A very convenient location to the various hotels in the Peachtree Center area and worth checking out.
Great find as we were wondering through Peachtree Center. Bartender(s) were awesome and friendly, good selection of liquors, and great pours! Only reason they didn’t get a 5 star is because we wanted a soft pretzel and they said they didn’t have that or a few other items due to their convection oven being broken.
Ate here during Dragon Con. Twice! Im in love with their black bean burger. The first time we were there, everyone on staff who we encountered was friendly and helpful. The second time, one of the staff members was really short with us and not very helpful or enthusiastic. Id still go back, hopefully it was just a bad day for him. Note: During Dragon Con they have a limited menu.
I am an event planner based out of Colorado. February 25, 2014 I hosted a party for 150 people at Gibneys. It was fantastic. The staff is the crowning jewel of the establishment. They were so incredible helpful. From Renee who stayed 3 hours from when she got off just to help out, to Marc who was willing to help with anything from the moment I arrived to set up at 7:00 PM to 2:30 AM when I left, to Ryan, who has an absolutely incredible ability to remember who gets what drink in a packed room, to Chris, who assured me all along that they had me covered. The location is just a block and a half from where our conference was, so it was very convenient. The room is spacious, clean, and welcoming. The TV screens everywhere are a nice touch.Coming in from out of state, I was nervous about having an event at someplace I had not been to yet. But they made sure everything was great. My only complaint was that leading up to the event, communication was a bit difficult at times. But it is a very busy place and I know that is something they are working on improving. If I return to Atlanta for a conference, I would hands down choose Gibneys again.
I would have given this 5 stars for the staff alone. The intervals between waiter check ins were short, they nailed our order(which was a little complicated), the food was great and the portion sizes were filling. The floorplan is open and airy and I noticed a pool table in the back room. Mid level prices-entrees were $8-$15.
Was down here during Dragon*Con for a quick beer after dinner and the fact that it was a sardine can-kinda crowded is a recommendation all in itself. Good selection of both Georgia-region and other craft brews, and if Im ever here again Ill definitely try the food as well.
This is a great place for a quick tasty bit,a good cold beer and a couple rounds of poolllll. In the heart of downtown Atlanta this little jem can get pretty packed later on in the night. The staff here are just wonderful. Roxy took care of us and she was amazing. Her attention to detail and bubbly personality was top notch. Hands down my new favorite pub on the area
This was an awesome alternative to the big name alternative up the street. The fish and chips were awesome, as well as the nice big side salad. They also have a nice selection of draft beers. The prices were much better than the alternatives I mentioned above as well! This is a hidden gem!
Very basic bar. not much more than beef o bradys or any other typical sports bar. the food is given in large portions for very good price, but having a large portion of just alright food isnt really a plus. atmosphere is what youd expect- drunk people partying screaming about somethin. some people like that kinda atmosphere and food, but its really not for me.
Gibneys Pub is a place that was recommended by a local I had encountered before I checked into the Hyatt Regency after arriving in Atlanta. Gibneys is your regular no thrills pub. Walking into Gibneys I noticed it was rather dark inside even on an early Tuesday afternoon. Then again, it is a pub. What more should you expect? Instead of sitting at a table, I opted to sit at the bar so I wouldnt have to wait for a waitress since I was alone. The bartender was friendly on my approach to the bar and she quickly took my drink order for an Angry Orchard Cider on tap. After about 5 minutes, she took my order for a mushroom Swiss burger that I had ordered medium rare. Noticing there were sweet potato tater tot available as a side dish, I had to try them. The wait time was about 15 minutes, not too long of a wait. The service during the wait was something that could be improved upon. There were two bartenders and it took a little too long to get a glass of water when there were only a handful of people in the entire bar/ restaurant. The burger itself was good, however it had a component that needs to change to make it a better product. The burger was medium rare as I had ordered and juicy. They used a decent Swiss cheese that was melted perfectly. However, the mushrooms could have been so much better. Not sure if these mushrooms were over done or canned, but they were too rubbery when I bit into them. If they had been more firm, they would have provided that difference in texture that was lacking. It was missing that snap when you bite into perfectly cooked fresh mushrooms. The sweet potato tater tots were good, something I have never had before. The tater tots were cooked well and crispy on the outside.Overall, this is a decent pub with average service. The mushrooms on the burger prevent me from giving the burger four stars.
Stopped in for dinner. Ordered fish and chips which is described as a Sam Adams beer battered fish. Fish and fries looked great, but the fish had a weird cinnamon / herbal flavor to them that I could not wrap my head around. Kind of ruined the whole meal. On my walk home I was wondering what they may have done to make them taste like that and my assumption was that the cook decided to use a Sam Adams Holiday beer in the batter to use up some old beer. Fish was fried well, but was the worst tasting fish Ive had in some time.
I had the fish and chips, because thats what I always get in a pub-type restaurant Ive never been in before, to establish a baseline. Ive had a lot of different fish and chips, is what Im saying. This was the most staggeringly bland and uninspired rendition I have ever encountered. Gortons frozen fish filets out of a box would have been better.Still, the ambience is pleasant and amusing, the service was friendly, if not as fast as might have been expected, and the portion was large enough that I left about half of the fries on the plate, even though I went in hungry. Might be worth trying again to see if anything else on the menu is worth eating.
I ended up walking by this place on several occasions and never gave it a nod, but went in with a group of 8 tonight. We were all pleasantly surprised!! The food was reasonably priced, absolutely delicious, and came out much faster than we expected with the group size we had! The service was also stellar! Definitely planning on heading back here when we get back in town!
I love Gibney’s. They make an amazing cottage pie that is so good I can even get my husband to eat it. My problem is in order to add to the restaurant with my wheelchair I have to go outside the food court and all the way around to the front of the building. It kind of deters me from eating in there.
This is the worst dining experience I have had in all of Atlanta. First of all, their oven is broken and they dont have the ability to make the chicken pot pie anymore. Apparently it was only good thing on the menu, because the rest of it is terrible. I wish I had chose to leave after Jordan (who was very sweet and apologetic, which is the only redeeming quality about the experience) told us there was no pot pie. However, we had already walked like 6 blocks and paid for parking, so we stayed. I ordered the French Dip sandwich and onion rings. My boyfriend ordered the Shepherds pie. My French Dip was dry af and had zero flavor. The onion rings were so burnt I could barely eat them. The au jus was clearly a mixture of soy sauce and worchestershire sauce. The Shepherds Pie was apparently disgusting and tasted like it was a microwave dinner. My boyfriend says he feels like he is going to vomit. Its really too bad cause it is a cute place and a convenient location, but I will never be back. Im sure they dont care, but they should.
Old restaurant. I go there for burger when I am visiting Atlanta. Every burger I tried was excellent. Their soup of the day is very good, chili I tried was good. I could use more space near the ordering/pickup area but hey ...try their burger and onion ring. You will love them too.
The closest thing you will get to a Irish pub in downtown Atlanta. Service was just okay. I order food at the bar and they accidentally put it in as a to go order so I was eating out of a styrofoam box at the bar. I had asked for chips and it did not come with chips. I asked for chips and the waitress did bring them to me but I was on my phone and she kinda threw them at me. Plenty of televisions with sports on and a projector screen as well.
I had the Spiced Salmon AND Fish & Chips! Im from Seattle and the measure of Fish & Chips is IVARS!!! Salmon - Perfectly cooked, excellently spiced BBQ!!! Fish & Chips - Perfectly cooked!!! Both flaky and sweet natural flavor!! To quote Puppy: What Puppy Says Goes!! :) Ive looked for the best fish and chips and have been to many places, but these are Perfect! Im wondering if theyll do the salmon without any sauce - :) BEER: I dont drink - but their selection is more than Ive ever seen! They have all the normals and many, many others that should make this a beer lovers heaven! What Puppy Says Goes!!
Nice locals pub and great place for food- especially work lunches.Afterhours a good place to watch sports, hangout after work, and get plenty of pub favorites. Good beer and full bar selection.Gets loud and seating can be a problem at rush times. During events and conventions this place fills up fast.
I am usually generous when it comes to reviews, but in this case I cannot say enough bad things about my whole experience. Sitting alone at the bar I was asked to leave a credit card to hold my Reuben and a Coke or pay up front. Ok, unusual, themy Coke was flat. Ok, Im not a complainer so I move forward. I receive my Reuben andI attempt to pick it up. It folds in half because it is so soggy and not even grilled. I begin to at least pick through and eat the meat and fries while I wait for my server. She comes by and ask how everything is. I pick up the other half of the sandwich and it folds in half and wraps around one finger while I balance it in the air. She says but youre eating it because youre hungry? And walks away to tell the other employees of how bad the sandwiches never offering to fix anything. I couldnt even withhold payment so instead I just left my food on the bar and walked out. Last time I ever walk through their doors.
End up coming here for lunch a couple times every now and then. Each time the service is great, and the food is awesome. You can get in and out within the lunch hour rush. There are plenty of tables for groups. I do recommend coming early in case you are being rushed.
They used to have a walk up counter to order food. Now they have full service wait staff. Even though the line was kinda long during DragonCon, now the service takes forever. It was an hour before we got food, and after eating, we waited 30min to get our check. The food was Not worth the wait.
So my review is going to be a bit slanted due to the fact I came during dragoncon. Staff was great and friendly, sure there was a wait but what you gonna do when thousands of nerds come into downtown Atlanta and start looking for food lines are inevitable then. But food was still delicious and staff was still happy to have us and did their absolute best. Will have to come during a non dragoncon time for sure.
Its an OUTSTANDING bar with FABULOUS food!My wife and I had dinner here, and were SO not expecting what we got. Ive been snacking at bars all over the world, and let me tell you...Gibneys Pub is my new favorite. The truly HOT Hot Wings...wow! Loved them with the homemade Blue Cheese! The potato skins are mammoth; yet so tasty....Im ready to go back!My personal favorite...the Boarshead fried pickles with the homemade ranch...Im addicted! The drinks and service couldnt have been better as well...Thanks Gibneys....well be back!-Chance

2022-05-26Easy to find! The bright red exterior really gives it away 💗 very inviting and friendly atmosphere. Service was quick! I had the cheese curds, some cider, and the shepherds pie. I had a great time.

2022-02-17Nice Irish pub downtown Atlanta. The food menu was small, but that is ok. I had the fish and chips. Very nice large filets of cod. Not too greasy like some fish. The homemade tartar sauce paired perfectly. Also, you cannot beat a Guinness on tap from an Irish bar.

2022-04-12Enjoyed the British look and feel of the England 🇬🇧 experience. The food was delicious and the upstairs mall was a huge added surprise 😮. We all had a nice family experience.

2022-04-27Truly enjoyed my visit here. Great atmosphere. Great prices. Good food. Ill definitely be back. Chicken Pot Pie was on point. Remember. This is a bar that serves food. Not a restaurant that has alcohol.

2022-06-05Absolutely LOVE this place. My husband and I will become regulars here! The atmosphere is comfortable and fun. The menu is amazing (hard to choose what to try, so we have to go often). The staff and owners are amazing! The chef…. 5⭐️!! It’s our new favorite spot for date night and family night.

2021-12-11It’s not a traditional English Pub but it has delicious bar food at a good price. I had the Shepherds pie and a quesadilla relax it was my only meal of the day don’t judge lololol. Shepherds pie was very tasty even with the cheddar cheese on top and the quesadilla was delicious. But have you ever had a bad quesadilla? Also, I saw negative reviews here but I can honestly say the staff is very nice, place is clean and service was fast. I guess if they’re swamped they might slow down. Who wouldn’t. I will definitely be back 👍🏼

2021-12-19As my first experience here Jeffrey jones greeted/served my group and made sure we had the best experience; made me feel like Gibbneys is the place to be and recommend. It felt like home when Emma told us about the Sheppard’s pie! Great vibe Jeff is the proof great customer service still exists

2022-07-01So we walk in, and are told to sit anywhere, and someone will be with us shortly. So we do. And wait. And wait. And wait. Fifteen minutes go by, and we have to go to the bartender to ask for freaking water!!!Okay, so we get our water, and order our food. Its a little slow, but it comes. Our order:- A side salad- The 10 piece wings from the appetizer menu.- Side of Fries with Chili and Cheese- Bangers & MashOkay, so first the side salad. REALLY big for a side salad. It was more like a whole meal. Absolutely no complaints there! Definitely worth it to order that!Next, the wings: seasoned really well, flavor was good, but it was VERY salty! That, and the meat was kinda dry. Other than that, not bad! Though the dipping sauce was a little lacking in volume. Only enough really for about 3 wings.Next up we have the chili cheese fries. Like the side salad, a HUGE quantity for something thats supposed to be a side. No complaints about that, buuuuuut!.. while the fries tasted okay, and the cheese was real shredded cheddar, the chili just kind of felt and tasted like it came out of a can. It was really salty in that canned food sort of way, and it tasted kind of bland. Not what I was hoping for in a restaurant that claims to be a pub. Then theres the Bangers and Mash. So from the plate up, there should be mashed potatoes (not difficult to make), then an onion gravy, then the Bangers, which is a sausage. Doesnt have to be anything specific, but it typically is a mildly spiced pork sausage. This was dollar-store bratwurst on a canned or powdered gravy, on top of bland, flavorless dollar-store instant mashed potatoes from a box! I mean come on! Mashed potatoes are the easiest thing in the world to make! You couldnt be bothered to make real food? Are you kidding me?So all in all, we were ignored, had massive wait times, the food was garbage, and this was all in all a very disappointing experience.Dont waste your money or time there.

2022-03-03Downtown ATL is hard to find good food at a nice place and be very reasonable on price. Welcome to Gibneys! The menu is not exactly an Irish pub but the decor and feel is. A long bar, lots of TVs, and the Cod Fish and Chips were great.
