Goldbergs in other cities:
First time here, my husband took me here because his business meeting are held here. He always talked about how good the food and service is. Steve (Operations Manager) is truly amazing. Goes table by table asking if everything is alright and if there is any problem he takes well care of it. Flatbread is amazing! Look at this cake, pretty cool.
The food was yummy. Only reason for 4 stars was not knowing that we should seat ourselves when we came in. And also not knowing that we pay at the table when there was a large pay here sign at the counter on the way out. We waited there for a while til someone noticed us and came over to help. But overall, I would definitely go there again.
Despite the constant managerial changes this Goldbergs consistently has delivered great food and service. Christie has been providing great service since this location opened. Ziggy has been with Goldbergs for probably 10 plus years and does a great job running the deli and when he cooks it is fantastic. Jose has been the main morning cook now for quite a while and always cooks me a great breakfast. Great food and great service.
We stopped in for bagels and lox on Sunday afternoon. We were seated promptly, and our drink and food orders were taken by very nice staff. Our food was delicious, and we were checked on frequently by our waiter. It was very busy in the Avalon area, and the restaurant was busy as well. We were very happy with our experience, and we will add this to our rotation of weekend late lunch spots!
I liked it! Lots of different food options. I got the po-boy, it was really good! Only thing, was that the bread was a bit on the hard side, and hurt a little bit to eat. I asked for some spicy mustard on the side. Very good overall, I cant wait to dine at Goldbergs again.
Edited: 12/24/21 - checked website for hours and it stated it was open. NOT!! Thanks for the 40 minute useless drive tonight!EDITED: We used to love this place but unfortunately over the past two times, the food quality have REALLY gone down. Disappointed!! Old: Always a treat when we visit Avalon!
The food was good and the staff was nice, but the overall service and experience was poor. To note, our server was running around like a mad woman, clearly she was stretched to thin. However, the kitchen looked packed and yet not a lot of movement. It took way to long to get our food, close to an hour. Not only that, but my order came out wrong in multiple ways. The food was pretty good but the rest of the experience overshadowed it by a mile. This place needs a serious tune up of its operation. It has potential but is seriously lacking right now. I dont recommend unless you have a lot of time, a lot of patience, and you arent very hungry.
We walked in and was greeted (?) with what can I do for you? We sat at the table for about 10 min before someone came over to take drink orders. They werent even that busy. While waiting for food I watched a girl wiping the seat and then the table with same rag. It was absolutely disgusting. Even 1 star was too much for this place. This place got to regroup.
Stopped in after the movies. Not a customer in the place…not one. The guy behind the counter told us to sit anywhere. We had a seat and we waited. Another worker saw us and walked to the back. And we waited. Saw some workers sitting in the back…and we waited. After 8-10 minutes, got up and left. I understand that places are short staffed but there was NO ONE in the place. Guess we’ll be supporting another restaurant.
Asked for two eggs over easy with American cheese with an ET bagel toasted twice with lox cc spread.I received two eggs cooked over hard no running yoke. The cheese looked like it was thrown on their last minute.Asked for a half sweet and unsweet tea. 10 minutes after I sat down. Before my first bite of food, we havent made the tea yet.Thank you for the service because I will never come back to GoldbergsThis restaurant has changed over the past few years and not in a good way.
I was very excited to eat here initially. Ordered 2 bagels and a drink (total cost $41) via the app which charged an additional $3.50 service fee. That in itself is OK, however the order took over 40 minutes to be made. The app never notified me that the food was ready, even though it said it would. I had to go into the restaurant and ask for my order to be made, half of it was just sitting on the counter. Staff was very rude when I asked about the status of my order after waiting more than 40 minutes. Didnt receive anything even close to an apology for the food being so late. Food tasted very bland, zero seasoning on either bagel. I addressed this issue with the app who reached out to the management and only for a measly $9 refund from my $40 order. Never again.
Was so excited to eat here, when we arrived at the restaurant we waited for 5 minutes before someone even spoke to us, and then someone behind the cash register told us sit wherever you like and the only table open was for 6 people and it was just me and my daughter. There were no other open tables and she said sit anywhere so we chose that table. One server left their tray with all their cups on that table so we told her to please move it and she said she was busy and then proceeded to tell us we couldnt sit there because it was meant for 6 people. Then someone that came in after us, got to sit down before us. And still no one helped us and all the workers were very very rude. Not to mention they wouldnt clean up tables and did not follow social distancing rules.
Busy spot, slack service, server wasnt able to answer any of my questions, they were out of items including the special that was advertised on the chalk board in the doorway. Alfredo screwed up my order & then Lastly, he changed my tip & basically stole money from me. I wonder how many times hes done that before. Tried to call & speak with a manager but couldnt get anyone on the phone so this review will have to do.
Lots of nice menu options and pleasant atmosphere but what followed was an array of problems! first, the layout of the restaurant made it unclear where and how we were to be seated. then, after finally being seated, no waitstaff attended to us for a good 10 minutes. after ordering, no waitstaff brought our food or assured us that our food was coming for 30-45 minutes. people who sat down after us had finished their food and were leaving. after our food finally came, they informed us that they were out of grits and got one member of our party of three’s order wrong. one member of our party began to cry. also, bizarrely throughly this time, management had been politely checking on every table except for ours. although our experience was comically awful, all other customers seemed to have a pleasant experience so our feelings do not necessarily reflect the quality of the restaurant (like a fluke, but we just needed to vent). thanks!
Allow me to follow up on my wife’s review. Having many friends that work in the food service industry, we are all too aware of the staffing issues that MANY restaurants are currently struggling with. But….that being said…to go into an EMPTY restaurant, and to have two different staff members look directly at us and to seemingly ignore us is unacceptable. At a bare minimum, someone should have approached us and told us that staffing issues were going to cause some delay. We would have accepted that. Instead, they have lost a customer.
Woke up so exited to have myself a good breakfast. It was my one goal to starting the day right. I decide to go to Goldbergs because the one I always go to in Marietta is amazing. I drive to Alpharetta because today the are the nearest one to me. I ordered some avocado toast on a wheat bagel, turkey links, and some pickles because why not boo. Well let me tell you about how it all went; when i took my first bite off the avocado toast it made me feel like i had covid (no taste). It tasted more flavorless jello on cardboard. I wanted this toast to jumpstart my day and all it did was send me back to when my mom said she was disappointed of my life’s decision. Also the turkey links were delicious and the pickle is too.Next time please remember that some peoples hopes and dreams start with a good breakfast.
Horrible food, service was horrendous. Got dessert, a piece of lemon pound cake was stale and would not cut with a knife or fork. Manager seemed unfazed at the quality of food and lack of customers. Once served the server never came back to my table to ask if I needed anything else, only brought me my ticket.
Placed an online order, got the pickup time. Showed up 15 minutes after the pickup time to find out that though the order went through and they accepted it, they never took it to the cooks to prepare. The staff I talked to was lackadaisical and each of the 4 staff members tried to pin it on the other. The lack of service or caring bythe staff at this location (Avalon) is abhorrent. I would not recommend, at least not for order ahead.
We went in here today for lunch or my birthday. i have eaten at all locations and this one is a joke! the food was great and taste just like the other locations however the service was awful. my friend had to hunt down menus. we had to ask for a server several times. the manager walk by us and said nothing . then we finally got a server and he forgot several things. i never got a drink refill. they ran out of biscuits and two of my friends ordered the chicken biscuits. the manager came over and said they ran out but not once said sorry. i ordered lackas and never received them but was still charged. we had to ask for our checks several times. i will never go back to this location.
Update: someone from corporate did reach out to us and sent us a $25 gift card for our troubles. We still haven’t been back to use it, but at least they acknowledged and cared about our experience. Not a good experience. We waited for a long time for a table even though there were open tables. I’m guessing they were under staffed, but there were lots of workers. We finally got seated and it took a long time to order. The manager came over to check on us and we told him we were ready, but then another person stepped in and took over. We were sitting next to the kitchen. After waiting for a very long time for our food we noticed that the server was complaining to the cook that our order was not complete and the one thing sitting out there was now old. She got the manager and he began to argue with the cook. The cook decided to leave and went to get his coat. One of the managers had to go back and start doing the cooking. When my food arrived it was cold. They did offer to remake it but that took more time. No offer of compensation or anything. A small apology from the manager. Very overpriced for that kind of service in my opinion.
Wasn’t a great experience. It took 20 minutes to get 3 bacon egg and cheese’s to-go. The server was really sweet but then the manager yelled at me when I asked if the place was dog friendly. I thought all of Avalon was, but the manager yelled at me when I just politely asked. Food was super meh. Probably won’t come back.
I walked into the front to wait to be seated. Unfortunately no one acknowledged me. I’m about the 15 minute wait two couples came and went because we weren’t greeted. There were no signs saying seat yourself nor eye contact from any of the people working there. I finally went to the back to ask if I should just seat myself. The man I talked to was immediately defensive and said “I just got here.” He offered to help but at that point it seemed begrudgingly. I work in the service industry. The polite thing to have done would have been to apologize.
Food gets 4-5 stars. Second time at this place. Service wasnt highlight of our first time and now got hit with pandemic. We entered and the guy behind the counter asked what can I do for you? Not the first thing you want to hear when enter a restaurant and when I asked for kids menu he replied we dont have !? That gives you feeling of been an unwanted guest. Took a while to get our food which is kind of normal with short staff. Food is tasty and fills you up which will get 4-5 star on its own. Another thing that makes you feel they dont want you there is, even on Sat night, they close at 8:30 pm! By the way, they have kids menu!
Unprofessional attitude. Girl at the counter did not know how to charge gift card. She had to call another coworker to help her. I told her that I have two cards and I am not sure how much balance is in each. Guy helped him to run a gift card and left, card did not have enough balance so I gave her another one. She got agitated and started making faces. She has to call that coworker again to help her. Whole time she was visibly unhappy and not happy to serve me.
My family and I have always eat here, even when the service has been less than stellar. We were here in November of 2018 and were very disappointed with how long the wait was, the service, and condition of the food when it was served. I’m happy to say we just met the new director of operations, Steve. We met him because he personally stopped by to check on us, twice. We were SHOCKED at how much service has improved and how fast we were seated and waited on. The food was excellent! (Especially the Rueben egg rolls). We can wait to visit, again!
I have been coming here for years and always loved the service, but the last few times the service has been poor, wait time over 45 minutes for a grilled cheese sandwich. The wonderful servers who used to be here have moved to greener pastures. Ill be looking for new place to meet with my friend.
Now 5 stars! If you had been a customer here before and then stopped like me give it another try. I live in Avalon and when they first opened started coming here daily. At first it was great but then went majorly downhill. Like a lot. The place was gross and service and food sucked. Yesterday a friend and me were stopped for a late breakfast. She was visiting and wanted bagels. So I’m like ok whatever. The place was great. The old manager is gone and they have new managers and staff. The food was great and quick and so was the service and a district manager was there too and he even stopped by every table to talk. Also the place is super clean which I noticed escpecislly the bathroom. So it’s back on my daily places to grab a quick breakfast and coffee.
Why 2 stars? Just because I love Goldbergs other than that I would give 0 stars for this service. So I ordered Goldbergs delivery when they 1st opened at 7am...still NO food at 9:15. Called to see what was going on with when they explained its on the way. I stated to them that I didnt want cold 2 hr food. Not only was the food cold but the onion rings were swimming in oil!!! #HEARTATTACKI also ordered a WHOLE pickle for $2 and they gave me a piece of a pickle. I spoke to manager Sean about this and he assured me hed straighten it out...NO LUCK😣Goldbergs Avalon FAILED this customer today!$$$$ waisted!!!🙄
Our food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Antonio, our waiter, was courteous and helpful. We would eat here again. 4 stars instead of 5 because I would have liked our water glasses to be filled up as often towards the end of our meal as they were at the beginning.
The food is great, but the manager who was expoing was a complete idiot. We had the table that was in front of the line and we could see everything during our 40 minute wait for our food. The dude obviously has no clue what he’s doing and I don’t think has any business being a manager. My waitress was okay but I just couldn’t get pass the terrible job that was being done on the line. I almost wanted to get up and do the job myself.
If I could give this location a 0 for our visit today, I would. Sat outside, not enough wait staff, had to ask to order food. Watched the table next to us not get the right orders and send the bill back twice for corrections, waited a long time for half our order, other half didnt show up, wed been there an hour and 15 by then, asked for the meal and it wasnt ordered yet, asked that it be removed from the bill, manager said shed just gotten there, but wed watched her 30 minutes earlier dealing with the other table. Its very rare to see such continued incompetence on every level. I enjoy other locations. That was my second and last try for this one.
Goldbergs- Avalon catered a breakfast to our suite at The Hotel at Avalon the morning after our sons wedding. Monica was absolutely wonderful to work with in selecting the menu. The breakfast casserole was delicious, and the breakfast tacos with the homemade salsa and fixings were a real hit with our guests. Thank you!
Got chicken and waffles... Worst fried chicken I have ever had. My boyfriend said it tasted like unseasoned fried TOFU and made him not like chicken. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the cinnamon roll was warm and tasty. The coffeecake was cold and hard from being in the fridge. Waitress was sweet but didnt know a menu item and didnt even offer to check what it was. Thought a few things on the menu looked good but we wont be back.
Been to Goldbergs in Avalon 3 times. The staff is always friendly. The restaurant isn’t very clean and they are always out of something on the menu every time we go. They were out of plain bagels my most recent visit and the last two times, chopped chicken liver and pastrami. How can a “Jewish deli” not have those items!!!! The food is pretty good though.Back at Goldbergs in Alpharetta , had A delicious dinner and a wonderful server but once again they were out of chopped chicken liver. I just can’t understand how a Jewish deli can run out of chop chicken liver !!!!!!
My husband and I drive several miles to eat at Avalons Goldbergs. Weve been doing so on a regular basis since it opened. The food is good, the location is great, but the biggest attraction is the friendly and competent staff. We are very fond of Edna and Christie and appreciate their good service. They are lovely ladies who know how to make us feel welcome. Thank you, Goldbergs!
Initially, staff was not very personable with the exception of one male waiter. He at least said Someone will be with you in a minute. Once seated, our female server was kind and professional (Edna). Food is simply okay. Perhaps its what we got. I got corned beef on rye, and husband got pastrami on rye. Compared to a REAL NY Deli. Its adequate. Pastrami ends were very dried out. Corned beef was okay. Its the only game in town. So, I cant complain too loudly.
I went with some friends at around 6:20 pm today and at first they were kind. We waited 30 minutes so the waiter to take our order. It took another 20 minutes for our food to come out. It was not busy at all and the waiter was attending two other small families and ignoring our table. His name was Sebastian. I don’t recommend coming to this place if you don’t want to stay for more then an hour! The food was not pleasant! Do Not recommend!!
I came 3 years ago to celebrate my 16 birthday and had an amazing time. 3 years later I come to celebrate again and I had an amazing experience, got served right when we got here. Amazing service!!!! Paul was great at attending us and making us feel like family. Thank you for everything!!!! Really made my birthday night !!! Will be coming back :)
GOLDBERGS is back!!!! Under New and excellent management the wonder Goldbergs has taken the dinner experience to new heights. After being less then impressed back in 2019 with service provided I was reluctant to go back. But now with the amazing Monica at the helm I know my bagels will be more then just breakfast, they will be the start of an excellent day !
Working in the Avalon they are so convenient to walk over and grab my morning bagel and latte! I absolutely love this little restaurant and highly recommend it! Ryan in the front always puts a smile on my face. He works so hard to please his customers and makes the best iced caramel latte in town! Keep up the good work!
Service was sub-par. Waited quite awhile after being seated for our order to be taken. Once the food finally came out, we had to request silverware and napkins. He brought the silverware and 2 napkins (there were 4 of us at the table). My cheese blintzes were good but my husbands Eggs Benedict was not... Not enough hollandaise sauce plus it was too thick, no flavor in the Canadian bacon, eggs yolks were hard and the English muffin was barely toasted. In any case, we wont be going back here. There are lots of other places in the Avalon shopping area. I would recommend trying any one of those before this place.
It took over 45 minutes to get our food after ordering. When it came out, it took over ten minutes for it all to arrive. Some sides arrived even later. The home-fried potatoes were crunchy as they were still raw. Save yourself some time. Seemed to be problems with the kitchen. Waitstaff was apologetic but powerless to make it better.
This place is my overall favorite, go-to brunch place. The Dunwoody location is my home spot one but ever since the one at Avalon opened, their quality of food is noticably different from the other locations. And by this I mean , the bagels are always so perfect and fresh, the egg is well cooked and they give you a good portion and the they melt the cheese perfectly as well, unlike other locations who would get a 4-star. And the service here is prompt. It is slightly smaller in size compared to other locations but the food is so fresh. My boyfriend loves the cheeseburger quesadilla and he loves their coleslaw too. Sweet tea is always on point and the bakery items are fresh, minus the brownies, those are hard as a rock. Lol
Very busy lunch on Saturday. I was not impressed with my sandwich or fries. Their signature sandwich..Poe something, was mostly bread, little meat and little flavor. Fries like warm and wimpy. Ive eaten at other Goldbergs and thought they were okay. Great concept for a deli though.
The food was okay, instead of it coming out together, it came out one by one, and got our appetizer after our food, but part of that is because of the terrible manager, ruining the time for the customers and then the employees. he definitely needs to go to a different location where he’s not so rude to his employees and not coming up to customer tables and just staring at their food without saying anything. will not be going back
I left hungry. My order came totally wrong. The other orders in our party came missing sides. One side came after asking three times; the other never came. My second coffee warmup was cold. When my order finally came - still wrong - the others were finished eating and ready to go. Which is what we did. I am to meet a friend there for lunch in two days, but Im looking for another place. Goldbergs service is spotty at best, and sometimes, like today, unforgivable. The food can be good (not great), but not good enough to tolerate the screwups.
Food was average deli fare but the service was top notch. That really made a difference because we came with a baby. Everyone really went out of their way to make everything easy for us. I would recommend sitting outside if you can on a really nice day and if there are tables available.
Kudos to Steve for turning this place around. Before he took over we never saw management rounding on customers and the wait and food quality was terrible. If it wasnt for Edna, we would have stopped coming. Since Steve started, the turnaround has been 180 degrees and we look forward to our breakfast and Wicked Marys again. Keep up the great work!
I had been a fan of Goldbergs for quite a few years. However lately not so much. Bagels are still good. The coffee was always good but the last time I visited was quite watered down. You can always add water to strong coffee but cant fix the other way around. I ordered the benedics with grits. I could not eat the grits. The worst Ive ever had. Zero flavor. The Benedicts were just there, tiny in a humongous plate just staring at me. I just didnt like them. Just a small dollop of sauce on top. I dont think the wheat goes well. It didnt taste like a Benedict should. My husband ordered French toast. That was good. The home fries are also good. There is no consistency in the menu as a whole. Its a hit or miss. Considering the prices are not cheap.
The best part of the experience was the greeters. The waitress completely messed up our order and lunch. Asked for the manager and a young women seemed more interested in starting an argument than finding a solution to make a customer happy. Staff boasts about being opening a location at the new Atlanta Braves Stadium. Management should rethink their move!
Ordered Chicken pot pie. It came with hair on top, I was told they will make a fresh one. The second one also come with a hair on top. Tommy(Manage) do. It have any clue and when asked, refunded the charge but still do not know how it happen twice.I would not trust this Resturant next time
I have long been a customer of Goldbergs but I think that day has come to an end. Their prices have risen to such a ridiculous level for let’s be honest just AVERAGE breakfast food I will no longer be going back. $16.99 for a OK Reuben sandwich.. get real. If your in the Avalon and looking for a great breakfast spot head to BANTAM & BIDDY. Great food, well priced, will be coming back here again and again. Goodbye Goldberg’s 👋🏼
Fine for quick in & out at breakfast, not for sit down lunch. My mom and I decided to try it for lunch today- and my opinion of this place went way down hill.1. The line and space to wait was ridiculous and completely disorganized. Given this is a brand new building- they put zero thought into a waiting area and organization to having a way for people to come in and order to-go stuff & others who are waiting to sit down in the dining room. We were all crammed in- people were trying to squeeze by to get to-go orders and it was a bit chaotic. They need a hostess center out front taking names like a regular restaurant or just have everyone order & you can then decide to sit down or order to go- (more like a Paneras or La Madeline where they bring it to you).2. All i wanted, and ordered a Ham and cheese on a bagel with a side of fries. said that exactly to the waitress- who later brought me egg, ham and cheese on a bagel with a potato hash breakfast plate. When i said all i wanted was ham & cheese on a bagel with fries- she rolled her eyes and took the plate back, where they just took off the egg & did not correct the potatoes/fries. She was fairly rude about the situation which was ridiculous- I felt bad and that I would be bothering her to ask for the correct side after that, so I decided it just wasnt worth it. I understand they were very busy, but thats no excuse of being rude to a customer. My mom said her tuna wrap was good & I got a pancake with a side of fruit for my son. It was fresh fruit, but it was bout 6 child bite-sized pieces of fruit- hardly a side portion- even for a small child.Overall- a poor experience that I wouldnt go back to for a sit-down meal- but still would pop in if they wernt busy for a quick bagel and cream cheese or dessert to go.
Service is mediocre - work nearby so it can often be the closest and cheapest, which isnt saying much because its still not really cheap. Hosting staff needs a lesson in hospitality. One lady will just point to a table without saying anything - as if I can read your mind? Tends to be pretty awkward - patron after patron not understanding why shes pointing - just lead people to the table and say hello its not that hard.
We visited The Avalon for St Patty’s weekend and popped into Goldbergs for just a drink. We were greeted by Steve, one of the managers, and Matt. Steve let me taste test a “pink” beer and told me I could walk around Avalon with it. I didn”t know you could do that. They were so helpful and welcoming. Next time I visit, I’ll have to order some food and sit out on their patio, which is located in the heart of the Avalon. Fun atmosphere. I’ll be back with a group of friends for sure!
My wife and I have been to Avalon a few times to watch movies at the Regal Cinema and we decided to try Goldbergs yesterday for lunch since they are big on their Reuben sandwiches. I had decided on a California Ruben and when our waitress came to take our order informed me they were out of sauerkraut. Had I known this at the time of us getting our drinks ordered I would have decided on something else not last second as majority of the venue are Reubens. So needless to say I wasnt overly happy with the service nor the food for the price I had to pay. And I really doubt I will make a trip to there again
Twice in the last month I have recieved terrible service here, both take away and in store. In store I placed my order, only to have it arrive and they tell me that the cream cheese (that I go specifically there for) they were out of and just brought me something else` without asking or telling me. I had also order things on the side which were not on the side. Ok mistakes happen. Then I got take out today and the ticket was incorrectly written. Had I not been paying attention I would have been overcharged and the biggest insult was that they forgot the bacon on the bacon egg and cheese. I mean this isnt high cuisine we are dealing with here. How hard is it to give good customer service and get orders out correctly?
No bagels ready in the morning..waited for the dozen .. gave me 4 raw uncooked bagels... 6 day old hard bagels and 4plain bagels I never ordered (check before you leave this place)... manager said he would hook me up for 30min wait.. gave me 1 extra bagel. Very disappointed! All other Goldbergs have been so good. This one is not managed properly.
Last week we decided to visit GB. Unfortunately we had KALIMA M as our server....what a disappointing experience! She could not even get the drink order right (Water with lemon and a coffee with milk). By the time we were done eating it has been one hour (they took longer than usual to get the orders out) and yet Kalima M only stopped at our table once. Not even when the food came out she stopped by. Thanks to another server named EDNA for the great service. She was taking care of her tables and saw we needed help. She got right on it and provided a great service. Job well done EDNA!
I owe it to humanity to review this location. Astonishing they are still in business as they have steadily declined over the past year. Notable disgusting and disapointing things inlcude: Pastries that sit in the display FOR MONTHS, staff that doesnt know how to ring up a bill, staff that was uninterested in serving anyone, stale (presumably day old) coffee, and me having to kill baby roaches on my last and final visit. Its disgusting and an embarassment to the chain.
Lousy food and bad staff. Ask for a medium burger with tomato and cheddar cheese and you may find yourself eating a burned to a crisp burger with lettuce and swiss. Ive eaten here several times because I have a gift card and all but once I have regretted it. The corned beef was OK but Id recommend eating elsewhere.
Discriminatory practices...Stay away from this business. My son, and his girlfriend, both 13 years old, were on a date where they went to Top Golf accompanied by parents and, as they commonly do afterwards, they go to Avalon and walk around. While at Avalon, they often go somewhere to eat, just the two of them. They are well-dressed, well-behaved and respectful young teens. Theyve been to Bocado Burger and other places on their own without any issues but last night they decided to try to get something to eat at Goldbergs and was refused service and told to leave. Mind you, this was not because they were not dressed appropriately or acting in a way that was disrespectful or disruptive or that they were just sitting around but not ordering food. None of these logical reasons were in play. The employee of Goldbergs told them that they had a rule that if you were under the age of 16, you had to be accompanied by a parent. Being respectful young adults, and not really knowing any better, my son and his girlfriend abided by the employees request and politely left the restaurant without eating. To say the least, I am very disappointed with this business and what I personally deem to be a discriminatory practice. As for my family, obviously, we will NEVER patron this business. Furthermore, if this restaurant is a chain, we will never patron any of its other locations. And, you can be certain that, every opportunity I get, I will try to dissuade others from spending their money at any Goldbergs and I hope that every person that reads this review will go elsewhere too.
Horrible experience. Went for Lunch on a weekday and waited 15 minutes after seated for anyone to stop by and take our drink order. Many wait staff around but none wanted our table I guess. Got up and left and told the manager who didnt seem to care much either. Skip this place and go somewhere that actually cares about the customers!
Order was Beef brisket on Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel, Potato Salad, Lettuce, Mayonnaise, Onion, Tomato.Product sent was beef brisket, on REGULAR bread, NO Lettuce, NO Mayonnaise, NO Onion, NO Tomato.Second order was Superfood Salad. Arrived covered with HAM (which was certainly not ordered and not a part of the description on this vegetarian salad!).Both orders were 15 minutes late arriving. When we complained through Grubhub, the restaurant LIED and said that the food was prepared as ordered. SO not true. No accountability. No integrity. Avoid this outfit like the plague!
Extremely disappointed with this place. Been a longtime goldbergs customer. Came to Avalon location and both times now the service is bad, they’re out of staples like creamer and I waited over an hour from ordering to getting my food. Frankly won’t ever come back here again. To make matters worse I had family friends in town and talked this place up for them to have this experience. Just subpar in every way possible.
Goldbergs is nasty! And I mean nasty! I went in last week on Sunday and OMG! This man was so raise to me and my family just because we were Hispanic so rude he calls himself a manger! Name Paul no way! There is something wrong with you Goldbergs got having someone who raise to Hispanic nasty food and manger what! Horrible I would never go again in my life! No one come here please! Paul is the worst
Being a Jewish follower it upsets me knowing that Goldbergs is a Jewish deli, as they dont show the staff some knowing of our religion. For example I went in today to order take out and they had the kosher meats and cheese together. So it defeats the purpose of the meats being kosher at all. And as a Jew keeping kosher meats and cheese together in the same fridge is prohibited in Jewish Law. Very disappointed...
We came to have breakfast but by the time we got our food it was lunch time. It took too long. The service, I would say, below even the diner standards. Now the food.... it had no taste AT ALL. For such prime location the food and experience is horrible. They didnt even have crayons for the kids, although they gave us coloring kids menus. I hope they read the reviews. Unfortunately, we didnt read it before going in.

2022-07-10Food was awesome! Try the chicken and waffles! Wife had the breakfast flatbread with avacdo and scambled egg. Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Give em a try at the Avalon in Alpharetta!

2022-01-15Management is top notch. Servers are awesome as well. Everyone there will go out of their way to get you what you want and keep you coming back. Food is good, good portions for the money, the restaurant is a little crowded at times and a little hard to maneuver if you just wanted to get Bagels or something, but its a wonderful place and I will always make sure I stop in to get something.

2022-04-28The food was good. I had an avocado toast. The wait-staff were friendly, although they didnt seem to be in much of a hurry.I do not recommend using their online ordering. I ordered takeout from their website, and was charged a $1.20 service fee for the convenience of online ordering. I arrived 15 minutes after ordering, when it was supposed to be ready. The order ticket arrived after me, so I still had to stand around waiting for them to make the order.

2022-07-04This bagel is over $10 and wouldn’t even smear the butter on, I had to do it. Look at 1 very thin and little slice of lox on my bagel. Wow! This place is robbing us!

2022-02-06Took the wife for brunch. We waited a long time to get seated. Had another couple wait a while as well. It’s bad when the serving staff doesn’t acknowledge you right away and let guests know they are backed up. I asked for the manager and he was quick to cut me off answer in a way to basically shut me up. Magically I got a seat right after that rude experience. Amazing at the guest waiting behind me cause he spoke with the manager. Guess the manager needs to learn some skills. Wade was his name I believe. When I asked for the manager’s name from my server again rude and quick to reply “what’s wrong?” I swear it takes more energy here to get simple answers. Again like magic the manager is out and about helping the staff and doing what he is paid to do. Run a restaurant. Before he was in his office. His staff needs to be trained to understand if it gets busy they should all help or at least acknowledge the guest and let them j ow what’s going on. But thanks to this awful experience I will never ever come back and I will definitely share my experience with people.

2022-06-05Stood for a very long time at the sign ‘please wait to be seated’. One employee said she will be with me. Then later she filled up sugar packets in container! We wanted to eat outside and then was told to order online. They do do service outside. There were no signs for that. Horrible.

2022-05-19Wonderful food and coffee. I really cant believe the amount of food you get here for the price. The service is awesome, and likely the best bagels I have ever had.

2022-04-04Quite possibly the most disappointing thing in my life, next to my first marriage. The food was so highly priced it should have been gold plated. The server Jake was so afraid of his boss, he didnt want to have any confrontation or disturb him with any questions, or problems.Dude, get a different job as a Walmart greeter if this position is too challenging for you. Patrons are going to have questions about the fare and if you cant ask your manager bc you find him unapproachable, find a more supportive boss in your field. Life is too short, and clearly so is your boss.

2022-05-21Disappointing. Servers were great . Have been to this and other locations, and todays meal was just not up to par. Reuben was meh. Meat was tough and sparse. Just not what I expect from a deli.
