Goodwill Thrift Store & Donation Center in other cities:
I shop various Goodwills and online for estate wares and generally encounter friendly and helpful staff! Today in the McFarland Grasslands store was unlike anything I’ve experienced as a consumer in any brick and mortar. Looked around 1hour, found a few items including 3 pieces of a flatware serving set in the kitchen section with no price. When the cashier was checking me out she said she would have to call the manager up for pricing. Ok. We wait for the manager, Keenan/Keegan?, who sees that additional customers are now queuing to checkout and says to me I can’t buy the flatware pieces without a price. Yes, that’s why I brought them to the front. I would like to purchase this but tag is lost or removed which isn’t my fault. If I wanted to manipulate the price, wouldn’t I have just grabbed a sticker off something? He continues to argue that people remove stickers all the time and he can’t do anything today?? What? Why penalize a customer when he’s the manager and is capable of finding us both a solution. I asked him to either find a fair price or mark the items so I can purchase and leave. He refused any solution. He insisted they needed to be re-processed and would be put back on the floor the next day. Am I being punked? Is this the only store in N GA that refuses to sell merchandise the dozens of times a day a price tag is missing?? The manager walked away completely refusing to engage me. The checkout clerks said come back tomorrow! Extremely inconsiderate never mind the utter disregard for my time, my patronage, or any logic towards customer service.
This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at Goodwill on McFarland Parkway . Will not be going back. The men ( and I use that term loosely) in the donation area are nothing short of rude and obnoxious. They acted like they were doing me a favor as they took their time moving the donation line. I couldn’t leave because there was a car behind me. I called the store and spoke to one of the Managers. She was polite and apologetic. I described the two men and she instantly knew who I was speaking of.I will not be donating to this or any other Goodwill in the future. I highly recommend you don’t shop or donate at this store. They do not deserve or appreciate their Customers
I’ve been coming to this Goodwill for years. Today was the worst thrift store experience I’ve ever had. The staff was absolutely beyond rude. I was trying on a sweater and my mask fell off, and an employee IMMEDIATELY approached me and NASTILY asked me if I had a mask and told me to wear it at all times. We were trying to buy a pair of shoes for our three year old, and the employees refused to sell it to us because the tag had been removed. Never mind they could have went in the back and priced them for us. It’s not as if we removed it, like they tried to make it seem. I don’t care about paying $2.99 (normal kids shoe price there) for a pair of shoes for my daughter when I had a $9 pair of shoes for myself and a $6 cardigan my wife forced me to buy because she liked the way it looked on me. No one was pleasant to deal with, and the cashier didn’t even say a single word to us when he finished checking us out. This was an extremely unpleasant experience and we will not be going back.
My best friend lost her phone as we were leaving and didn’t realize it until we were getting in the car. They had already closed the store but stayed open to help her find her phone. Super nice people. Always helpful and friendly. Been there many times and have always had a pleasant experience. They usually have high quality merchandise. I’ve gotten many nice name brand things from there. I drive out of my way to go to that specific store.
The donation line is SO slow. Weve been sitting in our car for over 10 minutes and were not even moving. I dont understand what is taking so long. This is just a drop off donation isnt it. It shouldnt be taking this long. Will be considering a different organization to donate to in future.
Goodwill employee took an item already priced and wrapped in plastic wrapped to the back and re priced it $10 more than what was on the tag when I was checking the item out. This is dishonest and not right just because the cashier said it should cost more. Very unhappy with this experience and the way this goodwill does business with their customers!
I love this particular location! Almost every time I go there, and I travel a ways to get there, I see exceptional quality items in the household and furniture sections. I’ve seen other comments about the quality and wonder if it’s the same location...I guess I’ve been extraordinarily lucky. I’ve made some fruitless trips - but I would never give up on Grasslands! As for the customer service, I have always found them to be courteous, friendly, and helpful when needed.
I was tried to buy one item, and bring it to the cashier he said that this price label is not right, so I asked what is wrong and what is the price this item.He dont tried to sell this item. he didnt tried to find out price to back worker or call. He just said that it and he didnt tell me sorry for their mistake.
Bought a set of golf clubs. Did not include the bag because it didn’t have a tag. So payed a markup for 7 clubs but did not receive the bag that went with the set. Asked for the manager and she was rude and very unhelpful. Sets are supposed to save you money not make you spend more. Especially for a store that is supposed to help folks, and not markup prices.
Out of every goodwill I experienced this one is the very best. Their policy is that their workers cant purchase items before the customers have an opportunity too. And , believe me , it is very effective and shows by the items up for purchase. Hands down Goodwill on McFarland Pkwy in alpharetta is the best.
The store was ok. Weve been there a number if times and always found nice, clean and interesting goods. But today, the amount of goods was significantly less, the quality wasnt there and everything seemed a bit unkept. Our opinion was that Goodwill has opened a few more locations and in so doing, the goods are being distributed to other stores. I did find a couple things, but it was not up to previous goods.
There are still good stuff but the prices across all stores is ridiculously high for things they get for free delivered to the store! On top of it all they want to round up asking for donations. For What??? To put people to work at minimum wage? These employees should be making a lot more that what they make. Its not a decent wage for sure. The owner is a billionaire for crying out loud.Helping charities is in order. Shame onMark Curran the owner of Goodwill.Look it up.Now about the store. Its clean and organized.Paying $6 for shirts and blouses is outrageousI believe $7 for jeans. Etc.
Goodwills I never have a problem before but today was terrible. One of the employee screaming to the kids in the toys area and he star pull the toy from the kids hand included my son 2 years old in from of me he don’t care that I was there washing my kids he was so rude and inappropriate, my kids was so scared the way he acted, the kids are persons too and they deserve respect to shop, I have a video how he screaming, and he say that he is the manager I can believed a manager fighting with kids .
After an entire day of moving we come to this goodwill to drop a few things off in our Uhual! We were told we couldn’t bring our truck to the unloading zone and to pull to cones on the side and unload there. So we do that, get all of the things unloaded and then had the manager come start aggressively yelling at us even though we were just following their instructions...he then makes us load everything back into the truck ourselves after unnecessarily yelling at us (even though mind you they asked us to pull over and unload there in the first place) we then wait in the “designated spot” while the manager proceeds to let many other cars unload....terrible, rude, experience.
Horrible. Greed at its finest. I still frequent GW, even now that they are for-profit. They still do good things. This location? Not coming back. Cmon guys...no secret that your inventory is free. How are you going to be retail priced on used items? You have a ton of stock, because its being passed over by customers that are either joking or angry about it. Seriously, i had random people asking can you believe that price? and greedy *******.Its your stuff now, charge whatever you want. Im just telling you that you seem to be making enemies of your biggest buyers.
People of color BEWARE, check your receipt before leaving this store. If you are familiar with 50% off color tag of the week, the markdown is taken off at the register. I have shopped this store 6 times within the past 2 weeks and there is this one particular cashier seems to always over charge her. She did it to me and another woman of color within minutes of our purchase. While we were waiting for a Manger to refund our money, the lady told me that this particular cashier had over charged her multiple times. The other day I was waiting in line behind a man of color, who had some nice boots and other items. She rung up the boots and sat them under the counter. The man asked her for the shoes, she replies I did ring them up so you have to pay for them. While shopping near the register today I noticed a woman of color in line so I stopped to listen and observe, and I hea tf the woman say you over charged me, so the chair clled for a manager to do a void. Youve been warned!!!!!
Shinny new exterior marred by the dingy and dirty interior. Granted that the area is populated mostly by Hispanics you rather expect the inside of a store to reflect the clientele and this store doesnt disappoint in that regard. Employees are fat, lazy and dirty. The whole experience which for me lasted only three minutes, left me felling as though I was in the third world instead of the USA. I will never go back and if should go here, consider yourself warned.
We came here for cooler weather clothes after evacuating from miami during hurricane Irma this Goodwill came through in a big way! My wife and I are both pretty tall and we both found great clothes that fit, a couple that still had new original tags on them. Thank you Goodwill for coming through for my family during a very challenging time. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star rating is that none of the clothes are sorted by size on the racks which makes it more of an effort to get your size.
Never in my life have I felt more discriminated against than here. My boyfriend were shopping from the same MENS SECTION and when the cashier rang the tshirts up he rang mine up as ladies blouses which is double the price. when I asked why I was charged double he proceeded to give me countless excuses and all of them came back to wrong doing on their staffs part. Instead of appologizing and refunding me the manager refused to meet my demands and only agreed to refund me for one of my shirts. Moral of the story expect to be charged extra for shopping there as a woman.
Great location. I really enjoyed the nice items at this location. The furniture items were nice quality, the toy items were nice as well, there was a nice size selection of bicycles. The employees in the front end were friendly including the male Hispanic manager.I had to wait a few days to get an item that the bottom ticket was torn off of me with there system they can’t tell if the items were purchased yet even with the ticket number. I didn’t go back because I didn’t want to travel that far to maybe get the item. Maybe they should have offered to call me if it was available in a few days. That would have been five star service.Overall a great location I would highly recommend to everyone

2022-03-17On 3/16, I went to the Alpharetta 375 McFarland Pkwy store and purchased a few vinyl records, two of which were in poor condition. I asked the clerk at the counter if he might lower the price on the poor ones. He requested me to take a step back while he spoke with the store manager. I took a step back while he phoned the managers number. The manager entered the checkout area and told that the things were donated and that they would cost $3.99 each, which I agreed to and proceeded to the next cashier who was open, believing that this would be the end of it. However, this is not the case. This manager continued to yell, raising his voice and shouting that the vinyl records had been donated and is 3.99 and went on his rant for couple of minutes.I became perplexed, so when paying for all the albums, I asked young lady cashier if the manager was still shouting about these record I bought, to which she replied Yes, I am sorry, I apologize. I can tell she was embarrassed by his actions and had to apologize on his behalf. Im still baffled as to what I did to cause such a reaction.Ive been contributing and shopping here for years and have never witnessed such conduct. When the price displayed in the store is $1.01 per record, it appears to be a greedy store overpricing donated records. T I contacted the corporate office and informed the lady in charge of complaints about the situation. She informed me that the locations director will contact me in 24 hours. There has been no response. I hope the store manager faces consequences as a result of this incident.

2022-06-25This is the WORST Goodwill I have ever been to!! I went into the store today, got a few items, stood in line and noticed the line was 15 carts long. There was only one cashier and she was yelling and berating a Hispanic family and accusing them of stealing. Humiliating them and bullying them. I left in pure disgust and shock! Please train your cashier that it is NOT OK to accuse people of stealing and yell at them in front of the entire store!! Teach them to be respectful to everyone.

2022-03-19Very greedy location. Had to put a whole stack of vinyls back. Very strange pricing on each vinyl record when its on the floor sign for $1.01 each. Some were 5 or 6 bucks each. Vinyl records are so fragile. Some of them come out the package unplayable. And these were used moldy and scratched up and some of them warped. Somebody please tell these guys to accept returns or exchanges or put a record player to test the records. aint nobody gonna spend 60 bucks on 10 old moldy records sitting in a hot garage for 20 years. WHEN WE BUY THESE RECORDS HERE WERE TAKING A CHANCE IT EVEN PLAYS. IF IT DONT WE THROW IT IN THE TRASH.Theses guys have forgot they recieved these donations for free. Ive even donated here and they snap at you if you enter the wrong way to the drop off. Like the public supposed to know which way direction flows by putting 3 orange cones on the oncoming lane?!!! So enter on the oncoming lane lol 😆. Which way did he go George?Futher update!!!! After weeks of this post and a response from the scambam goodwill nation collecting a 6 Figure salary in the corporate office COLLECTING FREE DONATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY AND STILL BEGGING YOU ROUND UP FOR FURTHER SCAMBAMS. THIS LOCATION STILL HAS THE SAME VINYLS FOR 5 OR 6 BUCKS A PIECE AND THE FLOOR PRICE FOR ALL VINYLS ARE STILL 1.01 PER VINYL.

2022-05-11Worker was rude. Told me to get back in my car when I was trying to unload. Everyone else unloaded from their vehicles. Not sure why he was snapping at me. Donated to a few different locations but this location was my first rude encounter with a worker.

2018-10-30The worst customer service. The manager of this location is horrible. He treat me like a trash, he yield at me in front everybody I felt very disrespectful. I want to make a complaint about him but no one told me his name apparently the employees don’t know there boss name. Honestly I feel horrible and couldn’t do anything about it. I been reading a lot bad reviews about this manager. Please customer always check the prices before paying, all the problem started because this location charge more than the real prices. After you pay is nothing you can do. Everything is súper súper expensive. Horrible goodwill don’t come here.

2021-09-09The store itself is fine however my two star rating is predominantly reflective of their horrendously slow donation drop off process and their failure to make changes and staff this area effectively. Doesnt matter the time of day be prepared to wait at a minimum of 30 - 45+ minutes in line in your car. The line of cars wraps around the front of the building. There is just one guy slowly and painstakingly unloading one car at a time and moving it inside. Given the amount of donations flowing in to this location youd figure theyd update their processes and staffing.

2022-01-27This is normally a decent location but I had the worst experience I’ve ever had in ANY STORE!! I’ve filed a complaint with corporate about two of their employees it was that bad.
