We went in a little skeptical but man were we surprised. Food is absolutely delicious! I got the fried chicken sandwich and my wife got the Philly cheesesteak.Portions were massive, prices were fair, and service was top notch. We had Hannah as our server and she was kind, attentive, and incredibly friendly.Groove has been the best place we’ve eaten at since we’ve moved to Athens.
I was excited about trying this place. I was disappointed once we got inside. The tables are very close together; youre basically back to back with the person behind you. I ordered a Southern Boy turkey burger. My family ordered other turkey burgers. The burger looked good when it arrived but it appeared to be beef burgers. It smelled like beef and it looked like beef. I told the server and she asked the cook. He assured her it was turkey. Long story short, we trusted them and we ended up sick. On the upside, the brussels sprouts were really good and my husband enjoyed the fried okra. We will not be visiting another Groove Burger. Those two items are not enough to bring us back.
I stopped in for a takeout burger last night. The bartender was really polite and helpful. It was the best customer service that I have had in quite some time. I ordered the Grooveburger. It was excellent! I can’t believe it only costs $8.99! Keep up the good work, y’all!
We love this place! The burgers are all great, especially the BBQ one and the pimento cheese one. I usually get the apple and nuts salad, because their gorgonzola dressing is awesome with it. Oh, and the appetizers are all good, but our favorites are the sausage balls, fried pickles, and the sweet potato chips w/ gorgonzola sauce. The service is awesome and they have a great beer list!
Im not easily impressed with burger joints, but this place is phenomenal! Ive never had such an amazing meal from anywhere else that is the same food genre. I highly, HIGHLY recommend. I had the firecracker burger, the turkey burger version and it was so, so good, like drooling at the thought of it kind of good. I ordered it with the sweet potato fries, which were also delicious. I plan on trying the sweet potato chips on my next visit. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Honestly for the price, which was like $8 per burger if I recall correctly, I didnt expect it to be all that great, as in I kinda had the impression that it was more of a popular place just because of the college kids and such, but I was really happy with the experience.
The burgers were huge definitely big enough to split between two meals or two people. The groove sauce was great especially if you like vinegar, the Gorgonzola sauce was OUTSTANDING. The burgers came on soft brioche buns and were delicious, and the fries were thin and crispy /very good/ abs fresh!!!
Incredibly average if not slightly below average. I’d give this place a solid 2.5 stars, 2 feels a little harsh. We had poutine, which was a generous portion, but the cheese curds were not fresh and the caramelized onions were particularly salty. The groove burger was nothing to write home about, I could make a comparable burger in my own kitchen. The steak sandwich was pretty tasteless, we had it without the horse radish, so maybe that makes a difference.Overall, I’m not sure I’d come back.
Jorge has the worst customer service. Me and my husband paid for 2 combos he said we didn’t when we received the drink for it. We were missing 1 fries & he wants to charge us separate. He kept pointing his finger in my face and the receipt while yelling and giving me attitude so of course I had to give that same energy back. WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A FAST FOOD PLACE. We usually like coming here with our whole family, looks like we’re gonna look for a different burger spot.
We went into the restaurant and were sitting for about 35 minutes. We had ordered our food and were the only black people there. We were section in the far corner and were there before quite a few customers. We realized everyone else was getting their food before us. We asked how much longer would it be before we got our food.? We were told an additional 10 minutes but that it’s subjective because they took care of all the to go orders first but, nobody new had come in. So what was taking so long? Patrick was great at coming to check on us so I left a tip but the waiting was ridiculous as we seen others receive food before us who’d been there so long. Every issue isn’t race based but the irony of it all is why we didn’t wait. To note, we were given drinks, ketchup and ranch. Bone appetite
Definitely an underappreciated restaurant in the area. Most everything seems to be made from scratch and they have something for everyone. I know its crazy to order anything but fries to go with a burger but the Brussel sprouts are amazing. Ive had several of their burgers and theyre all great but the chicken here is outstanding. I highly recommend the Hunter, which is a Greek grilled chicken sandwich with really nice taziki sauce.
I had the lamb burger and it was great! If your a fan of gyros than this burger will please your taste buds. I would just order a side of the sauce that comes with the burger. They have wheat and gluten free bun options as well! The customer service is great. The workers here are friendly and very pleasant.
Want a quick burger and fries with a craft beer and great service? Groove is probably best in Athens. Every burger is unique and cooked how you want it. Fries are amazing and the cheese curds on the app menu are crazy good and should probably be served with a defibrillator.. The Mac n cheese was the only lackluster menu item so far as it seemed dry and actually lacking cheese, 🤷♂️ Hey, nobodys perfect - but Groove comes close...
Burgers are really good! They were much better than I expected. I dont really like sweet potatoes but their sweet potato fries were the best I have had. The only thing i would change are the chairs. They are cheap and uncomfortable inside. Otherwise, great food and service!!!!
Have eaten here before and love the food! Today, I couldnt even be seated to have a meal. Just a short while ago, I watched my brother give his name and number to the hostess for a seat for two. Then I watched the hostess seat 2 parties of two that came in after us: one at the bar and one outside. The first party may have asked to sit at the bar, but the second party was definitely offered seating choices by the hostess. We were neither offered nor asked about seating preferences until we told her we were eating elsewhere. Im not sure what her reasoning was; but, it would have been easy to spot us as we would have been the only people of color dining. Do better.
The server didnt have good table manner @ all. Crumbs were on the table so I chose another. The sweet potato fries didnt look like the picture (the picture is what made me want to try Groove Burger in the 1st place) BUT the lamb and beef burger was really good! The presentation of the brownie & icecream dessert was as nice as it tasted If they hired better, more friendlier & cleaner help, Id give Groove burger 5 stars
The staff was friendly and the service was great. While the burger was juicy and good, I felt it was overpriced. I was surprised to see that there is no combo on the menu. Instead I paid $14.98 for the “standard burger,” fries, and a Pepsi at lunch, not including the tip. The fries were good, but to me, they are they type that needs to be complemented with a dipping sauce, but none was advertised.
Place is awesome! My fiance and I got the fried cheese curds, portabella fries, I had the Standard Burger, and she had the Southern boy burger. The burger I had was the best Ive eaten in a good while. The cheese curds are significantly better than Culvers (my only benchmark for them) and the portabella fries, while super rich, are incredible! We went in on New Years eve and still had quick service. The place is simple, but clean and tidy. All the food is reasonably priced as well.
We LOVE Groove! I only give it a 4 instead of a 5 because sometimes the service is slow and they have you wait as a group of two or three when there’s a table for four available. Weird to not just go ahead and seat us. This has happened twice. We also came once and the side we ordered tasted like it had chemicals on it. Like cleaning chemicals. Super weird and we weren’t able to eat it because it was so horrible. But, we tried them again and it was great and we haven’t had that issue since. I love their Bella Berger and their Mac n cheese!!!
The burgers were excellent, served on quality rolls. The chicken sandwich was amazing too. We went for lunch and all picked a different sandwich. Everyone thought it was great. We also split an order of fried cheese curds. The curds were perfectly breaded and fried. I would go back just for more of those curds. The place also has a good selection of beers, including many local brews, and something I have never seen, a few “clearance” beers. I am all about a bargain, so I picked one of the clearance IPA pints. We will be back. I will be recommending Groove Burgers to all our friends.
I ordered the Portobella mushroom burger, fries and a drink. I had high hopes but I was actually really disappointed. While the burger patty was cooked correctly, the bun was soggy and falling apart. The fries seemed like a generous portion but were COMPLETELY dried out and cold- as if they had been made for an earlier order.I definitely will not be coming back. The lack of attention to detail makes me seriously concerned about health and safety practices in the restaurant.
Theres a fun, unique variety of burgers here. Everyone in our group ordered something different, and it was all delicious! The staff was fun and friendly. I look forward to returning. Its nice to have a laid back place to eat when youre shopping. If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks!
This place was great when they first came to Athens. I loved the burgers here and the option of sweet potato fries and wedges. The last 2 times Ive gotten takeout here, Ive gotten home and there is definitely less food for the money. And both times the burgers sloppy with one piece of wilted lettuce and the thinnest slice of tomato Ive ever seen. Truly disappointed in this place cuz I love the burgers but not enough to spend $11 on a sloppy burger and soggy fries
Great burgers and sides! You can’t go wrong with any of the burgers in the menu. Even the turkey burger is really good (you can get a turkey burger in any style that is on the menu). Not a fan of burgers. One hidden gem in the menu is the fried chicken sandwich. It is phenomenal! Give it a whirl and you won’t be disappointed. The sides are also top-notch. Some real noteworthy items that stand out against other restaurants are the fried okra (whole pieces- not cut), street corn (I get mine off the cob and they always accommodate), and the sweet potato chips with gorgonzola sauce. I’d love to see the chef add a few more sauces to the menu like a garlic aioli or a fancy ketchup or cheese sauce. We will see if they accept the challenge.Friendly service with casual and clean environs. A must-try when in Oconee County.
So far I have never been disappointed by the food. Every time we go here the place is either packed or empty, it seems there is no in between. They make their own pickles and I love them in their fried pickle appetizer. You can taste the dill and the brine through the batter. The doing sauce is a perfect compliment. For a while they did baked sweet potatoes as a side but they seem to be gone. Mores the pity. It is difficult to pick a favorite burger, but right now I am hooked on the lamb burger. It has a good flavour although it can be a bit greasy.
We visited this establishment for the first time today and were HIGHLY impressed!!! From the sweet girl who greeted us & seated us at our table to the Awesome Waitress we had & Most Importantly the Amazing Food!!!!! It was so Good!!! We were made to feel right at home & even got a taste of the Awesome Chicken & Waffles they are looking to maybe putting on the Menu. The Manager was very Nice as well & appreciative of our business!!! We will most definitely be back Soon!!!!!
Bottom line up front: Great food. Service isnt.To be fair I was warned about the service before I went and was told to go anyway because of the food.Took about ten minutes to be acknowledged after being seated. Our server asked my friend how she wanted her veggie burger cooked which was strange. Lack of experience maybe. Another server brought the food we ordered and our server didnt come back to check if we needed anything after taking our order. Just dropped the check; she did ask if we wanted to go cups though (I had an empty beer). Maybe she was new, but I was also warned beforehand. If youre willing to deal with the service the food is pretty good. Just make sure you order two drinks in advance and ask for everything you need for the meal during the initial order. This restaurant has potential if the wait staff gets properly trained. Ill try it again in the future.
My girl & I had lunch here. We split an extremely yummy burger! We both loved it & Connor was an excellent server. He was extremely knowledgeable & friendly, told us all about the restaurant and all the things that they offered. Great experience! Plan to come back with my husband for dinner soon! Really loved their beer selections too!
Had gone really down hill in terms of quality. Been eating there two years and when I first started going I couldnt get enough of their burgers. Now everything had gone up a dollar or two in price and quality has gone down. Would recommend to anyone looking to waste $12-$15 on a meal. I stand by my rating. Today will be the last day I ate there.
Exceptional food!! The burgers were great and came out quickly. The service was fast and friendly and the buffalo chicken dip was excellent. I would suggest. The fries were a bit on the crunchy side so be aware of that, but this is a great place to grab dinner or lunch!
Excellent food. Fabulous service. Clean. Great location. Resonabily priced. Excellent menu with lots of different options other than fries such as grilled corn (street corn), fried okra, mac and cheese. They have a lot more than burgers. I had the sausage balls (huge...6 of them). My daughter had a boneless fried chicken breast.
I have been here 5 times...I have not yet tasted a burger, side or app that we did not love! My goal is to taste all the burgers on the menu! They may have had a few kinks to work out at the beginning of their journey but that is expected from and new business! These people are fabulous and the best burgers in Athens! Please give them a try and if you are not completely satisfied......well....everyone deserves a second chance! You cant beat a local business and homemade food....made fresh!!!Good Luck Guys!!!!CHEERS!
My wife and I have eaten here 3 times in the last week and a half. Everything has been amazing! Weve had a different burger or sandwich everytime and all have been delicious! The sides are especially good as well! The service has also been wonderful each time! We will be back and have already recommended to friends and family.
Used to go here about every other week however last time my husband and I were there the burgers seem to shrink considerably.Burgers used to be large now they are about 5 inches across . Luckily they still taste amazing ,however because of this they will no longer be our first choice for burgers . Service seems pretty slow I think the girl was new though . Normally its very fast .
This was good for a quick lunch. They have a wide variety of burger options (turkey and vegetarian choices, too), all for about $8. The only thing that was kind of odd is that fries (or some other side) are not included with burgers. Otherwise, the server was quick and kind, and the food was good.
I had the pleasure of eating at Groove Burgers for the first time last night, and it was a treat. The service we got was incredible (a friend and I were trying to kill 20 minutes before a movie) and the staff helped us get seated quickly and rushed our orders through. The only thing more impressive than the service was the Groove Burger itself. The preparation was perfect, and I am planning on bringing back many friends to experience this wonderful establishment.
This place is awesome! They have great burgers, whether you like a very traditional burger, or something with a twist. I have had the Southern BBQ burger (not sure if that is the proper name), the Steakhouse Burger, and the Groove Burger so far and none have disappointed. The fries are great, and the onion rings are outstanding. The pickles are very good, as is the chili, and from what I can tell so far, the ingredients are fresh. At this price point, I may never go to Five Guys again, which is a place I have hit up about once a week for some time. They are full service, and all the staff I have met so far have been wonderful. So glad to finally have a really all around fantastic burger joint outside of downtown Athens!
Awesome food and service. The Groove Burger was the best I have Had in a long Time hands down! The service was excellent, fast, accurate and very friendly and knowledgeable of there menu. I will definitely go eat there more often and will recommend it to all my family and friends. Keep up the good work and stay focused on the customer service and the clean restaurant and reastrooms.
My order was messed up twice, the burger came out in less than 5 minutes, telling me that the burgers are sitting back there waiting to be thrown together. Their grilled onions also like the burger, sits. I requested medium rare, I received it medium-well to well-done. On a better note. I did enjoy their hand cut fries.
Nothing all fancy or pricey... That was my only time of being their guest actually and thats what was so cool about the place. They had 5 or 6 bar workers and waiters/waitresses that day, and i had came Solo and all the servers were cool and stopped to check in on you or just to chat even.. Super cool, nice folk and all theyre burgers like 7.99 or 8.99 ea.. When can you get that at anywhere else in todays world? 2 👍👍!
First and last time every going to Groove. Service was awful. Food was cold and when questioned about an appetizer not being cooked properly the server gave us an attitude. DO NOT GET THE FRIES. You could taste the old/overused oil they were cooked in and they had no seasoning. They deserve less than one star.
I’d give three stars. Our service we received was great, the fried pickles breading was still raw like(on the ones that were clumped together), but you do get a lot of pickles for the price. And finally we get our burgers... they literally tasted just like a Wendy’s burger. The fries tasted just like Wendy’s fries. I guess I’m upset because I paid $37 for two burgers one side of fries and a order of fried pickles, when I could’ve went to Wendy’s and paid $20, but that’s just me.... and also to add to my Wendy’s point , they even have on their menu Fresh but never frozen.
Most of the food is locally sourced and recipes are made from scratch. No frozen burgers. Choice of beef, turkey, lamb, or veggie burgers. Full bar and wide variety of beers. The buns are so good. Outdoor dining available thats dog-friendly. We just love it! Owner-operated and great service.
Loved the groove burger and fries that I got. Caramelized onions stood out in the burger. What really impressed me was the service. I had a to-go order and they forgot the sweet potato chips. Instead of simply apologizing, the owner drove it to my workplace. Outstanding! The only reason why I gave them 4 stars is its a little expensive for the burgers.
We love this little burger joint! I dont think you would be disappointed with this place if youre looking for a good burger. We also like the chicken sandwich, its a giant sandwich and its so crispy and good. Onion rings are the best side! But if youre looking for something a little healthier, they do have good salads and brussel sprouts.
I wish I would have taken pictures before we ate everything so you could see how good it was. This place should definitely be a major restaurant chain. I recommended it is what Im trying to say. Awesome employees, the employer should be proud of the quality that comes out of this place. I own a plumbing company so I know how hard it is to get employees and this guy has got great employees.
Good burgers. So good I wish they were bigger. Appetizers and salads are all great too. The only thing I didnt like was the philly, and I think Im just a bit of a snob. If youre okay with a little tougher piece of sirloin than the traditional ribeye, youll probably enjoy it too. They never have all of the beers on their menu, and it has become a running theme that whatever I actually want from the menu they will invariably be out of, and Ill end up drinking a Pabst.
I love going to groove burgers. My dad and I have made that our Weekly father son luncheon spot. The service is always helpful and the waiter or waitress always seems extra friendly. The managers don’t seem overly friendly but I guess that’s because they have a lot on their mind? Anyways, the burger is my favorite and the sweet potato tots are to die for. Literally, I could eat so many of them that my body would die. Can’t wait to return.
My hubs and I went to Groove the other week. We got out of a movie, and rushed over to see if they were still open. They were, but it was right before they closed. We have both worked food service, and we know how annoying that can be. We said, Nah. We would love a burger, but yall go ahead and close up. We dont want to be those people. The staff didnt seem annoyed that we were there at all! They just offered us to sit right on down and enjoy ourselves. The waitress wasnt bitter, because she wanted to go home. It was a real surprise. Thanks, Groove, for tolerating us last-minuters.
Decided to give this place a try again. The 1st time I went The onion rings were so salty they literally irritated my mouth. When asked about this I was told they season them with their own blend of seasoning. Got fries this tome with no dalt so I could seadon myself. Ordered the turkey burger. Was tasty but greasy like a beef burger so that made me wonder about how it is cooked ir if it had added fat? The place is well attended. Dont come expecting to be served food right away because both times I had to wait an excessive amount of time to get my food.
My favorite burger joint in Athens! They have the BEST fried okra I have ever eaten, including my Mamas (Dont worry, Mom is not on the internet, so she wont see this unless someone opens their big mouth). Every burger I have gotten (particularly the bella) is juicy and wonderful. Only exception was the lamb burger, which was ok - but a little dry. Lamb is a much dryer meat, so it was to be expected. Decent beer selection and price. Its super clean inside, but a little sterile and lacking in personality. I kind of wish the interior was a little cozier, but since the food is so dang good Im not going to nitpick. This is a great spot to eat, and get a few drinks before rolling into the movies next door.
Had the Groove burger & fries. The burger was good, but messy and the fries were barely warm. My husband had a bacon burger and was disappointed by the size for the money. His onion rings were good with a light batter and hot! Major problem was that it took 25 mins. to get our order. It looked as if everyone else was waiting that length of time too. Nothing fancy about the place, but there were several big screen tvs. Also, one person bathrooms. Wanted to wash my hands after eating, but left because the bathroom was occupied for quite awhile.
I was skeptical about coming here at first because of the mixed reviews, but I wanted to try the fried pickles. The pickles were crispy and hot and the dipping sauce tasted great. We ordered chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers for the kids and I had the Groove burger and hand cut fries. The nuggets and mac and cheese were barely touched , but the cheeseburger, despite its size, was eaten entirely. My Groove burger tasted great was and juicy and the fries were hot and crsipy. Will be returning.
I frequent this outstanding restaurant often as I love the ambiance that is exist in this place. The team is awfuly loyal and qualified. The service is awfully rapid. Not to mention, the food they prepare is perfect. I have been there often and I was always joyful. The payment is reasobable. I highly suggest this restaurant to all my friends.
Great food and service, but the most impressive thing was how they handled and accommodated my food allergy. They made fried pickles without dairy just for us, and they were super careful to make sure I didnt have anything with dairy in it, and when they werent sure, they asked. I cant emphasize enough how much I appreciated that kind of service.
I really like Groove Burger. I have yet to go in there and try something bad. They have amazing BBQ burgers and AMAZING fried pork chops. Its pretty pricy though. Unless you decide not to get a side, which are an extra 2 or 3 bucks. But i have gone in several times and just gotten a burger and been completely satisfied.
Amazing burgers. Seat yourself and polite servers. Poutine was very good (non canadian here!) with a sweet, savory sauce and cheese. My only complaint is that the food was sooo rich. Neither myself or my guest could finish our burgers, it was great food though. They do have salads and chicken though, so definitely lighter options! Try it, you wont regret it.
Id say the flavor of the yeast bun overpowered that of the grilled chicken, but that would imply that the chicken had any flavor at all. The meat was juicy, but bland. Theyve got several televisions mounted on the walls--perfect for watching the football game, I thought. But immediately after I finished my sandwich, my waitress delivered me my check. She never asked if I wanted anything more. No consideration on her part that Id be staying and continuing to eat during the game. I felt pushed out, so I paid and left to find another establishment to spend my money and watch the Dawgs.
Was not very impressed with this place. Visited for the first time last night. Placed a $30.00 to go order. Fries were cold and hard. Bun on burger was burnt on the inside. Also ordered the hot Italian sandwhich and it was very bland. Nothing on it but roast beef and bread. On arrival we were told to go to the bar to place to go order. We sat for 15 minutes at least before anyone even acknowledged we were there. Not very good service at all. Employees were more interested in hanging out chatting with each other and texting on thier phones . Overall experience was terrible. A waste of our money no doubt!
Probably never eating here again. Had to wait for over 10 min before we had to go ask someone to serve us. People who were seated after us were getting service before us. Then when the waitress finally came over she said she didn’t notice us.... then the wait on the food took way long as well. The food is great but the service was not what I was expecting. How can I enjoy the food if it’s never brought to me.
My husband and I enjoy trying out new restaurants, and were interested in trying out the new burger place in town. What made this even more appealing is that you all offered a veggie burger option. My husband, being a vegetarian, was especially happy to be able to add another potential restaurant we can dine at. Well... You dropped the ball. Upon visiting the restaurant on Sunday, March 6 and placing our order (my husband ordering a veggie burger) we were informed by the young man at the counter that you all were out of veggie patties. His suggestion as an alternative, and I quote, We have Turkey burgers. He suggested this after we explained that my husband was vegetarian. Really? More and more people are choosing vegetarian options and you all offer this option, but have run out of them your first full weekend being opened. Turkey burger, seriously?
I went to Grove burger for a quick meal, and although it was expensive, it was worth every bite. The groove burger was amazing and their brownie with ice cream was a great compliment to their juicy burger! Ontop of that, the waiters were extreamly friendly and made it enjoyable.
Visited here this past weekend and it was kind of gross... Flies were EVERYWHERE inside (lots congregated around windows). I counted about 10 crawling around on one window alone. The tables were really sticky and because of the fly situation, I was wary to touch the table or the condiments on the table so I just kept my hands in my lap until our food arrived. They also have an 81 food score due to not keeping countertops santitized and not serving meats at the correct temperature, to name a few reason listed on the report. My stomach hurt all night after eating here. Id steer clear of this place until they can clean up a bit. If I hadnt been meeting up with family from out of town, I would have left and gone elsewhere after walking in and seeing the flies everywhere. Definitely grossed me out.
Wow I guess the best burger Ive ever had!! Just happened to be in the area and again used Google maps to find Groove Burgers.Excellent waitress and plenty of tvs.I had the bella burger, 2 hander with a giant portabella mushroom on it.Give them a try if your a burger lover and in the area..
Was good burgers cooked medium so a little pink but not bad....very tasteful..and alot of French frys..and sweet potato fries are more like squares and theres not many of those as are fried..but there good...I had the lamb burger..was okay but was hoping it would of had the sauce on burger instead of on side!

2022-04-06So good, definitely more gourmet style burgers. I got the southern boy and the homemade BBQ was the best part. Super tender and juicy and pretty quick to the table as well after taking out order.

2022-06-20Burgers are pretty tasty. Portabello fries are consistently a win. Chicken nuggets are good- not like pressed frozen nuggets. Not sure what the heck happened to our regular fries. The fries were COMPLETELY inedible. Yep, they tasted as dry as they looked

2022-05-01Always a good experience! Food is hot and service excellent! We have eaten here many times. Only suggestion would be to maybe come up with a new burger every month as a special. We frequent this place and love something new.

2020-11-17Service was average compared to other small burger restaurants. Yet, the appetizer was bountiful for the price & quite tasty. You can taste the quality of cheese. The burgers were juicy and delicious!!! The flavors were exceptional! I also indulged in the sweet potato fries, which were tasty. The only disappointment was it was really cold, to the point it was uncomfortable. Highly recommend taking a coat. The last thing was our table was inappropriately cleaned, it still had pieces of food on it. Will try again, but via carry-out because the burgers are that good.

2022-04-26The Gorg & Onion burger was good. Had it as a lettuce wrap instead of a bun and turkey patty instead of beef. I like that they have these options. They have gluten free buns but charge $2. Burger prices are good tho. They took the lamb burger off the menu and now have a brat and sauerkraut burger.
