Half-Moon Outfitters in other cities:
Quite disappointed in this store. Wife and I are in the market for two new kayaks and equipment but after driving around for 25 minutes to park (had to park on 4th floor of municipal ramp) and finding that they only had 6 kayaks all located on the SECOND floor and the salesperson was too busy cleaning the windows to help us we decided to spend our $2000+ elsewhere. I could not imagine carrying the boats up 4 flights of stairs to my car. Though they do have nice socks & sweatshirts!
Well-stocked store with very helpful employees. I was impressed with the amount of time they took to discuss my wife and Is clothing needs, then make an honest recommendation without regard of making a sale. (They didnt have the jackets we needed on that day and actually told us to wait on purchasing.)
This is a great shop in Downtown Savannah for outdoor gear and clothes. It is so nice to have somewhere to go for high quality equipment. The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you are visiting, do yourself a favor and stop by. If you are local, chances are you already know how nice this place is.
Working in Savannah on a film project for NBC. I actually have a Patagonia Pro acct. but needed something for tomorrow so my acct. was worthless. Googled the store. I was on the phone for a time right out front of the store and then finally walked in. The man working gave me absolutely no acknowledgment. I was in store for around 30 long seconds and I thought for a moment that he was a customer! I asked him so and he said he worked there. My experience throughout my time with him was the same, very poor. The employee had a bad attitude. It sounds like he may be the one and same employee someone complained about a month ago. Myself nor anyone working for NBC on this particular job will be a patron of this establishment. On top of it all, I’m an Army Combat Veteran. You just don’t know who’s walking in your store.
Okay for paddleboard or kayak rentals, most of the staff is pretty young and not knowledgeable. Pretty random selection of gear available for watersports and camping. You would have to order for most things but the staff is not exceptional so you might as well call rei or backcountry.
Stopped by today to buy a couple pairs of Chacos before my upcoming trip to the PNW. Walked in and was greeted by one of the two staff members on duty; one of whom was trying on shoes (no big deal at the time). I spent a few minutes looking over the nice selection of Chacos and was ready to start asking questions. Turned to the second employee at the register who saw me but instead of engaging with the customer, walked to a display table, turned his back to me and seemed more interested in watering a plant that was placed on the table than making a sale. I turned to the employee who was still occupied with trying on shoes..so I decided to just leave. Customer service training is needed here... engaging with the customer should be priority #1.

2021-11-17We were staying in Tybee island and I needed a hat , so we drove into Savannah to grab one here. I left with my arms full, what an absolute gem!! They are very well stocked with clothes and gear. I live in Atlanta and often shop at REI, and even they don’t have some of the gear and brands I saw here. I’ll be going to this shop whenever I’m in the area from now on.

2022-08-15This store was very well stocked. Wide went in for a specific pair of sandals, and not only did they have the sandals she wanted in the right size and color. I like the hole in the wall vibe the store has, tucked away on one of the main roads. All in all, we liked the store. Would go back in the future

2021-06-06Super cool crew. Very helpful. Answered a bunch of questions my sons had about hiking poles and gear. Though no purchases were made this time, we definitely recommend checking this place out as their staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

2021-09-07We love visiting this store any time were in Savannah. The selection is good, but the staff is amazing! Bill helped us with some skate shoes, and gave us good tips on other gear we would need. I was really impressed with how helpful everyone was.

2021-10-13This place is owned by some awesome, well traveled people who know what they’re talking about. I was helped out by Daren, who showed me all of the ins and outs of my new Osprey backpack. He spent 20 mins showing me exactly how to strap it in order to save my back. I’ve bought everything here for my fiancé and I for our honeymoon in Scotland and I feel more prepared than ever!

2021-11-28My Fiancé and I are locals and we have been planning a 3 week, 1,700 mile camping trip for the last few months and needed to purchase some quality gear to last us the trip. We wanted to support a local business instead of going through Amazon or Bass Pro, and boy I’m glad we did. In this day and age customer service and knowledgeable expertise is a dying form, but Half-Moon Outfitters in Savannah has truly gone above and beyond to make sure my visit was amazing. From the get go we were immediately assisted and Brett went out of his way to try to find me some waterproof hiking shoes. When we discovered that the shoe I really liked was out of stock in my size he spent a good 10-15 minutes calling all the nearby stores to see if he could provide me with what I wanted. Although we couldn’t find the shoe, he wrote down a note to his manger to see if she could call the actual COMPANY to get the shoe delivered to the store before I hit the road… I was speechless.. Then after my fiancé and I found some of the most durable winter jackets we have seen, and left them behind the counter we traveled upstairs to find some collapsible hiking sticks. Quinn stepped in to lend his knowledge. Never once did we feel were were being “sold” something. He gave us his honest opinion saying I like this brand because of such and such and that the final decision was ours based on our budget and use of the item. Again genuine customer service. And THEN I found something that I absolutely didn’t need, but loved which was an authentic Swiss made small axe perfect for lightweight hikes and something I’m planning on keeping in my 4Runner at all times. I Reluctantly (but excitedly) flipped a coin to see if I was walking away with this fine tool. It seemed fate decided that the axe was mine. All the while Quinn didn’t once pressure me into buying the axe, but was quite intrigued by my moral dilemmas and did give his knowledge on the particulars on the item. Lastly, Katiy rang us up and genuinely was happy for our trip, and based on what we spent gave us TWO free Outfitters shirts. We then chatted and she expressed how thrilled she was that we supported their business. I CAN NOT convey how refreshing it was to go into an actual store, walk out with what you wanted and more, and all the while feel like you are valued and your business appreciated. Y’all. Even if you don’t buy anything, do a local business a favor, stop in, look around and meet some of these awesome employees and feel like you are home. Wish us luck on the trip! -Laura and Connor.

2016-08-29I love this store! They have really knowledgable, helpful staff who are totally into . I bought a backpack there- they helped make sure the fit was right and see how it feels under load.Ive gone through 2 buy & return cycles on Amazon already trying to find the right pack and gotten hit with about $30 in shipping and restocking fees. I wish Id just come here first.
