We talked for days about purchasing a boat he was the broker on and on the last day he decided to tell I had to pay the remainder of the owners slip rental. This was after we agreed on a price. We were coming from Ohio and had a long drive. I was not a Happy Boater at that time, but we agreed he would give me a price. But instead of that, he called a previous potential buyer and probably offered him the boat without the fee, and he brought up his deposit. And instead of giving me a price, he SOLD the boat to him. Very bad business practice.
I took my boat here to have the out drives replaced. The job was not done right. He broke several different parts on my boat in the process. After spending over $15,000 at his business, he tells me to go F*#@ myself. He claimed to have a 1 year warranty, but if asked to use the warranty you are told to go F yourself...really?!?! Total crook! Not trustworthy! Just a nasty guy!
NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR BOAT HERE. we came here to get our boat funning we took it somewhere else and it still wasnt running right. Took it to this man. Not only was he not honest or strait forward. We were totally scammed. He allready fixed again most of what we had just done so took it back. He was beyond disrespectful. He says he garentees his work. That is a lie. Nothing happy about this place.

2022-04-29We came from Belle Chasse, LA to buy a boat trailer. Dave was a pleasure to work with. We got a brand new, great trailer for a great price. He was a great guy and we would recommend anyone who is looking for a new trailer to contact him! Definitely worth the drive!

2022-05-12David was VERY helpful and even went out of his way to help me as a newer boat owner. I will definitely be purchasing my boat trailer from Happy Boaters (now I see where they got their name from).

2019-10-15I have a small, old john boat with old outboard that most people dont really want to mess with unfortunately. David and Mark didn’t mind Me dropping it off to diagnose my problems and get it fixed up. They did an awesome job at a very fair price and did it quickly in my opinion. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a boat of any size. I for one will definitely be using them if need be in the future. Very fair and very honest.

2017-09-04Dave is a great guy. I drove down from Lexington KY to buy a boat. He was honest about everything on the boat. The boat runs great and better yet I had a few issues with the boat after bringing it home and he has done EVERYTHING a man can do to help me with the few minor issues. He answers the phone on Saturday and will help you figure something out if you need it. He has not ever not taken my call. Great guy and he will be finding my next boat for me. Thanks Dave.

2017-04-02The WORST mistake you can make is letting Dave and the Happy Boaters crew do any type of work on your boat. A con-artist is putting it nicely. To make a long story short I paid Dave a certain amount to do an inspection on a Sea Ray cruiser pre-purchase. He and his mechanics missed two major leaks that I noticed by just looking at it shortly after I picked it up from him. When bringing it up to him he quoted me full price to repair both issues. He didnt think he was the least bit at fault for missing two huge leaks that a semi-mechanically inclined person saw just looking a little in depth at the outdrive and engine bay. Avoid him at all cost. He is out to get as much money from you as possible and has no care for you or your boat unless hes ripping you off. Go to Bay Marine or Park and let them service it for the same price but honest work.

2018-03-26Im answering this prematurely. I took my boat in for a engine repair that I caused. They are a very busy shop. However they called me with the diagnosis and estimate. Sure enough I caused it. They gave me my estimate and approximate day to pick it up. I showed up at the designated time. They showed me what I should not do again. They hooked up the water hose to the engine. And it started right up and ran like it was supposed to. That made me very happy. I paid the bill took my boat home. And it has rained everyday since. But if it runs on the lake like it did in the test at the shop. Then I have found a new good mechanic and shop. God willing I will be out on the lake this week. And will update this further. But at this time. David did exactly what I wanted and what he said was wrong with it. So at this time I am a happy boater again.

2019-08-03David, the owner, is truly a stand-up guy. He went way above and beyond to help me with my grandfathers pontoon. He continues to help and always answers my phone call and is willing to give advice or tips on any boat-related questions!

2018-08-18Dave from Happy Boaters went above and beyond.Delivered a new trailer all the way to CT. Upon noticing that there were a few issues with the finish that bothered him,he agreed to have replacement made which he drove all the way back with.Must have driven thousands of miles to satisfy a customer without a question and even made the replacement trailer more customized.Rarely encountered such honesty, customer service and dedication.A great person, company and top notch trailer. Thanks again Dave, you deserve 6 stars!

2013-05-24Picking up my first boat from Dave tomorrow. Hes been great in steering us towards just the boat we need and not trying to up-sale us to boat we dont need. Even talked me down from a bigger boat.He and his wife are very friendly, easy to talk to, they give you sense that you can trust them from the first handshake. They also service most of the boats at Glade Marina which is where we will be keeping ours. So it would seem silly to tell us anything that isnt the truth since well essentially be neighbors in the marina boating community.I would highly suggest buying a boat from Dave over a private seller as he checks the boats out and gets them ready for the water whereas you may not know what you are getting when buying from a private seller without paying a mechanic to check it out for you.I not only plan on getting this boat from Dave, but my next as well!
