I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Healthful Essence. It was like getting a soulful meal full of love from a family members home. Each dish was explained to me with patience, I was complimented while there and I got more than what I paid for. I got a meal option for each un meat I chose. I also got Seamoss with each meal. After eating these delicious meals over the course of a weekend, I was rejuvenated and lost some bloat weight. I will dine here each time I come to ATL.Thanks Corey for the recommendation!
Its been years since I visited this shop. Popped by for a quick grab and go lunch. Parking is plentiful, staff is friendly and the food delicious, healthy and reasonably priced. The shop is small but theres enough table and seating. It wasnt full when I stopped by after 1 oclock.I selected the mango smoothie and un-chicken patty, which was filling without making me feel stuffed. My visit was short, but Ill definitely return to try their buffet.
Im leaving this review in hopes that the owners see this as a constructive critique and perhaps initiate positive change to the overall quality of the food (e.g. flavor & seasoning, and portions). I think this is a cool spot with a great vibe and some healthy options and hadnt been there to eat in many years. When I took my 10 year old son to get our favorite liquorice root/sticks, I asked him if he wanted to eat there as well, since the food smelled and looked pretty good. We ordered and I was surprised by the pricing for our simple orders: entree + 1 side for each of us, plus two drinks and tip for $30+. Though I couldnt remember what the food tasted like the last time I ate there years before, I decided it must be incredible for the pricing and felt good about investing in health options! Unfortunately, once we sat to eat, I was quite disappointed b/c the BBQ Tofu my son and I both ordered tasted like it was cooked in a watered down BBQ sauce with very little flavor and our sides were average at best. For my side, I had the curry veggies wich also tasted like they were in a watered down curry broth (w/ little seasoning). I tried my sons side, the greens, which werent memorable and I then realized we could have spent the same amount and ate much better at Soul Veg across the street. I havent ever been disappointed by the flavor, seasoning, proportions, or cost at SV, so I Im not sure Ill try eating at Healthful Essence again unless I was somehow assured the the cost/quality was significantly improved. That said, the one positive is the $5+ ginger beer I assume they make there. It still tastes great (to me) and is worth the cost, so Ill still come for that and the liquorice root.
This restaurant has delicious vegan/healthy options. I frequent this location often. However, the customer service is terrible. On my last visit, my order was taken by a gentleman (not so gentle), who walks up pointing next. Thats not how you address paying customers. I readily respond with, I was waiting for a hello. I then direct my eyes to a posted menu, he aggressively says dont look at that. Then why is it posted? Its disheartening when you eagerly want to patronize businesses and a worker, with below par service, puts a damper on the overall experience.
The staff is just as fantastic as the food here! I had a medium plate of jerk bean curd, mac+cheese, and cabbage along with a piece if sweet potato cornbread and sorrel. It was delicious!!! Their jerk sauce is official and has plenty of scotch bonnet in it so if you like it spicy this is the place to be. Will definitely be back ☺
The 3 different squash stew was hearty and perfectly seasoned. The collard greens were good, the un-fish fritter had a great flavor to it. My fav was the corn bread which I call a sweet potato sweet bread that is really a dessert, in my opinion. Luckily, I arrived before about 8 other people so service was quick. I believe this place shares the parking lot with another business so I had to wait a few minutes to park. I watched the tv screen they keep on the Nature Relaxation film channel and enjoyed my meal.
Visiting and I was headed to the ATL Food Truck Park, but they cancelled and I was in dire need of good vegan eats! Man, when I tell you this place exceeded my expectations and the hospitality is A1!!! They young lady had no problem explaining all the options and making sure I was satisfied! The gentleman who rang me was extremely nice as well. I give 10 stars and will recommend and add to my list whenever I visit again!
Had a veggie plate, which consists of four choice servings. The person serving me on this date, being my virgin visit gave me very ample amounts. Essentially, if you cant do it all in one meal, youll mosdef have enuff for later.Update: 4/27/22 veggie plate still works 4me thou the pricing seems to have increased a bit much.
This place is a gem for sure and if you arent sure you would like vegan and or vegetarian food do not fret this is still the place for you.I tried four menu items! All were good.1. Smoothie (blueberries, mango, kale)2. Spirulina Sea Moss drink (yummy)3. Soup4. 1/2 order of PlantainAll were great and a reason to come back!
Not sure what happened when I got to the counter my portion was extra small even the cashier face look like yeah thats all bit of food when I commented.Over all flavor ok but for the price for 2 people drinks and 1 slice of vegan cake 50.00 almost .This wasnt worth it
I just picked up lunch there and in the middle of eating I had to write a review. This food is out of this world amazing and delicious. I got the ungoat, yams, okra, and noodles, wow! Plus the green lemonade and the fish cake. Its all incredible. I never stop eating just to write a review, but I had to for this one. Everything is vegan and they have some raw options too. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the place has a sweet and heartful vibe to it. To all vegans and non vegans, this place is a must visit. I wish I could give it more stars.
They DO NOT WEAR MASK or gloves. That is disgusting. Youre cooking and serving food. Regardless if it was covid or not.. Food is average. It must be meat eaters that arent use to plant base that like this place. Staff is RUDE. I support Black Owned but not at the price of being disrespected. The man got mad at me because didnt want to buy cake and because I used my phone to pay. Never again
I am new to the area and I visited for the first time. Once I said it was my first time I was immediately and patiently guided through all menu options available, and was even allowed to taste items before ordering. I had the jerk un-duck, black eyed peas, greens and plantains (which come with each plate) and i also ordered the tumeric lentil soup. EVERYTHING was absolutely DELICIOUS and the portions are very generous. Definitely have made a loyal and regular customer here, as I cannot wait to try everything else on the menu! Thank you Healthfull Essence!!
This is my Vegan paradise. The food is incredibly good. Every item is seasoned to perfection. Many of the menu items taste as though love....yes I said Love is the key ingredient. I am addicted to their ginger drink. That drink bites when you drink it. Yummy!! Friendly and knowledgeable servers. Great place for veteran vegans and newbies.
The lady that works there has a VERY nasty attitude is is very impatient. I called to inquire about the pizza that’s on the menu and she was rude and stated that the process is too long to make it. I was looking to order lunches for my coworkers and I for lunch but she declined to answer my questions and said I needed to come in to see for myself but I would NEVER give them my hard earned money due to the lack of good customer service. This is sad
I have attempted to order from Healthful Essence through Uber eats twice but the order will not be accepted unless you order an extra side for an additional price and they are not cheap. Also, I don’t care for the responses from Healthful Essence to customers on this review link. Customer service is everything, I would support sometimes even if I don’t particularly like the food if customer service is top notch. Please be and do better.
Incredible almost-secret vegan-friendly restaurant. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and as I was walking up a lady leaving was praising the food. First timers are allowed to sample anything they want. I was absolutely floored by the Rundown and the Unduck. Seems expensive at first, $11 for the Medium (main and 2 sides) but they give you enough food for at least 2 meals. Keep the good cooking coming!
The food is really not good at all and the portions are extremely small for the price. i had the mac un-cheese, rice & lentils, curry un goat, collards & sweet potato cornbread. the curry un-goat was bland! it has the spice but no actual flavor. the collards also lacked flavor while the cornbread was just gross. the mac & plantains were delicious. the substitute meat items aren’t good (coming from a vegan) so if you just want good vegan veggies go to Soulfood vegetarian across the street, it’s waaaaaay better!
Terrible. I was a consistent customer at Healthfull Essence for 2 years and it was no problem until recently i ordered 4 of their plain sea moss drinks for me and my girlfriend. After we were both on our second one and out of the store we realized that there was plastic blended into our drinks and that we had been consuming many tiny pieces of plastic from the drinks. We immediately stopped and saved the drinks for evidence we called and they seemed sorry for what had happened and told us to bring the drinks back. We continued to deliver the drinks and politely explained to them how much plastic we consumed and how we really don’t appreciate what happened they continued to refund our money and remake only 2 of our drinks. We didnt drink them immediately and then after realized there was plastic in the drinks again this time blue instead of clear. We were furious but have a love for the black community so we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and return. We returned and most of the employees were giving us a weird and uncomfortable stare. We continued to give them one last chance and when it came time for closing while we were dining in the owner rudely yelled from across the place “IT IS 8:01 WE CLOSE AT 8” with a very rude attitude instead of politely coming and telling us they were closing. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on food on their food over the years and i do not appreciate the disloyalty and disrespect. I will never return to Healthfull Essence and i will be sure to let my people know about my experience
Not worth it. The prices online didnt match what they rang me up for in the store. One tiny container of bland kale, bland nori rolls and a bag of popcorn cost me 20.29. They also looked like they could care less if I ate there or not. Theyre cool with their regulars I see, but if apparently if youre not a familiar face then youre not deemed worthy of food customer service. Very cold the both of them. Bad service, bad food.
This place was recommended at my sister, who accompanied me and my eleven-year-old meat loving son. I had some Curry dish with what I think was texturized veggie protein. It was very delicious and filling. My son tried the different patties and ultimately like the unchicken variety. He liked it so much, we bought extra one for home. You will note the prices are a bit high but the portion sizes are very large. So I spent about $26 for both of our meals which also fed us for dinner. Im satisfied and will go back.
I had to give this place a one star although I am a fan of the food but today the SERVICE was HORRIBLE when I went in there for lunch. The girl who serves the food who wears the head wrap had the WORST attitude to the point where I thought I was at McD on MLK. Pathetic display of behavior and I have honestly not been treated so poorly by a black business EVER before like today. Im so upset that I spent 17 dollars and was treated poorly. I could have cried out of anger. Anywho, hopefully the girl and the green apron with the fake me out Erykah Badu vibe is fired!!!
This place is that local hidden local gem that has AMAZING food! Locally owned, fresh foods, delicious inspired dishes, and affordable. I NEVER miss a chance to eat here when Im in town! The food is 100% Vegan and made on site. The staff is genuine and warm. The ambience is like being at a friends house for dinner. Absolutely perfect!!
This was our first time here. We ordered the un-jerk chicken, cabbage, squash with sweet potatoes, rice, plantains, mac and un-cheese and roti. Two people split this and we didnt even get half way through and we are full. The food is delicious!! The only thing I was 100% sold on was the mac and cheese... only bc the noodles were mushy to me. The flavor was excellent though.
I ordered the un-fish cakes which I really enjoyed. The black eye peas were just okay. The rice and peas were very bland and had long plant stems from whatever spice was used in the dish, so I was constantly pulling stems out of my mouth while eating. The cabbage dish was spiced well, but still bland. Im not sure that this restaurant uses salt in their cooking. I love that they serve 100% plant-based meals made with great ingredients, but the overall flavors of the food could definitely use some improvement. Im not a fan of how overpriced this place is either. $6 for a single slice of chocolate cake is ridiculous, especially considering how small the slice was.
Im really torn about the rating because what makes one person sick could be totally random, but since someone else got sick too, I hope this is helpful information.I actually had great service when I stopped in for a Medium plate! The gentleman was really nice! But I had to toss my meal out of the car on the way home...I ordered curry UN-goat, beans and rice, collard greens and a cookie. The curry was especially potent and it was making me a bit queasy so I took a bite of the chocolate chip pecan cookie, hoping it would settle me- within a few minutes I was more nauceous than Ive ever been in my life!I chucked the cookie out of the window, drank some water and noticed that the curry (sauce) was leaking all over the bag, and the second the curry odor hit my nose again, it was over.... I pulled off on I-20 and it was all downhill from there. Left half my stomach lining on the side of the road...I thought it was the curry, but since me and someone else both had a cookie, maybe that was it.... I dont know :/
This is a great black-owned business with great food you dont feel guilty about eating. You can even taste the food before you select what you want. My daughter is two and she loves the sweet potato bread, and I love the banana bread and curry un-goat. Try them you wont be sorry!!!!!!!
Visiting from Tampa, Fl and decided to try all the vegan spots in Atlanta and this was one of our stops on day 2. We ordered the curry tofu with rice, collard greens, plantains unckicken pattie and another pattie that I’m not sure how to spell. The curry was lacking flavor and the rice was not the best. The best thing was the plantains and the unchicken patty. The collards were also really good.
First time experience & it was the worst experience. For starters, I feel like it doesn’t make sense when you order 1 entree & 2 sides and the plate is so small that the sides are touching each other and eventually gets mixed. Then they messed up my order and gave me the WRONG plate , they had my plate mixed up w/ another customer and on that plate it was the last little bit of Mac & Cheese they had left, so I had to get another side option when they re made my plate. I also got there cake too. All in total, the food was not that good at all! Their food is way to overpriced for their cake to be tasting like play-dough. I was struggling really bad to eat my food bcus my sides were so mixed in together, it was hard to properly eat. So this place is a fat NO for me👎🏽
Very good 100% vegan restaurant serving both raw and cooked tasty, well seasoned foods, all from scratch. Makes their own mock meats, milks and cheeses. Fresh, Made to order juices & smoothies. Very reasonable prices. Dine in and take out. Some outdoor seating. Caribbean vibes. Conveniently located in West end area, near metro station, yet on side street. Small off street free parking lot. Clean unisex bathroom for customers. Wheelchair accessible. Delicious curries, Mac and cheese, plantains, mock seafood dishes, cakes, pies, salads.
I was actually very pleased with the food but the customer service was terrible. I typically order via UberEats since its close to my job and on this particular day, the meal was delayed due to the ‘restaurant requesting more time’. My meal was delayed by an hr and a half and out of curiosity, I called to ask for some sort of compensation—dessert, discount—something for the inconvenience. The harm in asking is a ‘no’ but the rudeness of the employee was beyond me. I received a no and the employee immediately hung up. I typically want to support businesses such as this, but my money will not be wasted on poor customer service.
The red lentils are my favorite, but everything I got was really tasty! Love that you get to taste test the meat substitutes before making a choice.Smoothies are on point and Im getting my self a desert to go, because Im too full to eat it now 😊The environment is relaxed and the girl behind the counter was knowledgeable and absolute delightful.Ill be back.
Ordered a two item plate and an order of cookies for $16 and received a SUPER small carton of food halfway filled with sauce and broth, and one cookie. I could get 3x the amount of food anywhere else for this price. The taste was OK but buyer beware that you will get an extremely small quantity of food for the price!!!!!
The customer service was great. The staff was friendly, and overall amazing. Unlike some of the reviews I read, the food was well seasoned. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the cake was just was absolutely disgusting. It was extremely stale, dry, and cold. It tasted as if it had been sitting in the refrigerator uncovered for about a good month. I’m not saying that was the case. However the cake really was so stale to the point it was not eatable. I ended up throwing it away. If it wasn’t for that I would have given 5 stars. I was just upset that someone would serve food that was clearly outdated.
Rude staff! The food isn’t as good as it used to be. The young lady that replaced the regular cashier Joy when she was sick, was extremely rude and lacked people skills, she was very over bearing and short with the customers. If you don’t want the customers asking questions maybe you should label the food. The price points are too for bad attitudes and inconsistent food. Won’t be patronizing. There are far better options within the city to settle for this
The first time I went everything was great. Their un fish cakes with the sauce are delicious. I sadly didnt find out about the sauce until I continued to go there. The staff is okay depending on the person. It doesnt seem as if everyone fully understands the menu and how it works. Sometimes you may get plantain, sometimes you dont. You may get the sauce for your unfish cakes and sometimes you dont.
Vegetarian restaurants are hard to find. But, when youre a vegetarian you appreciate them. If youre used to heavy amounts of fat and sugar in you food then your taste buds might find the food a little bland. But, if youve actually made an effort to eat healthy and havent corrupted your taste buds their food is great. The food is a little expensive, but, you get what you pay for. After you eat the food youll feel full and happy with no side affects.
I just love eating at a vegan restaurant that serves delicious food. I ate here years ago when I first moved to Atlanta and I have no idea why its taken me almost 5 years to return... silly girl (lol). For a wet Saturday afternoon there was a steady line but the wait was minimal. There were so many vegan items to choose from but they unfish cakes caught my eye first, they looked so yummy. So when you walk in theres a hot food case with items to choose from and they also have special items in the back so make sure you ask. Pick up a food tray from below if youre thinking in. Theres a white board with a handwritten menu with prices by the register and another menu with the unmeat items in the dining area. The server allowed me to sample a few items which I was very appreciative of; I ordered a medium plate with curry ungoat, mac n cheese, cabbage and a side of the fish cakes.*medium plate with meat and 2 sides $9.99 (i believe)* side fish cakes (2 per order) $3* alkaline water $2I was surprised by the portions, they were very large. I dined in so the items were on a plate.Theres four medium size low tables in the restaurant and about 3 small high top tables. They also have a sofa for sitting.Food taste: everything was DELICIOUS, i cleaned my plate! The curry was nice and spicy, the mac n cheese was very flavorful, cheese was very creamy and it was hard to believe it was vegan. Best item was the fish cakes, so flavorful and crunchy; I was tempted to go and place another order.I definitely dont wait another 5 years to visit, Im looking forward to my next visit.Excellent service and amazing food.
I recently visited and no one wore a mask. I called to asked why and the owner blasted me that wearing a mask was unsafe and hung up on me. I believe in supporting black business only if they treat me like a good client. I will no longer support this establishment. I will support other Black Businesses that treat me with better customer service. I was very disappointed how the owner spoked to me and hung up on me. Very disappointed how we treat each other. I will continue supporting Tassili’s. They have better customer service.
I love being in the restaurant--i love the family in there. It is always an amazing + pleasant + welcoming experience. it is literally all peace + love + mutual respect in the building, which is something i can appreciate + am always grateful for.im usually always smiling but you cant help but smile when you walk in there. the energy is always love + positive.THE FOOD--it speaks for itself! it is one of the only vegan spots i go to. everything ive had in there is amazing. its an experience, every time. i HIGHLY recommend this spot. it is exemplary of what a restaurant, business, people should be like to one another.
As a first time customer, the likelyhood of our returning is slim to none. Older lady was horribly rude! My husband didnt quite understand the ordering policy so when he explained that to her the rudeness began! When I saw that she she dumped his sides on top of each other, I asked that my food be placed in separate compartments and was told thats how we do it here. Followed by comments of her not having time to coddle people and other sidebar comments as she waited on the next customer. I could care less how good your food is when your customer service is non-existent!
I Love The Fact That At This Place They Have A Nice Selection Of Both Raw Vegan Dishes and Vegan Cook Food. They have Buffett Style and they have entrees too. The Food Is Very Flavorful. It is nice, neat and clean environment. The prices are fair and the customer service is friendly and courteous!
Overpriced, bad service (slow and food is served on a carton boxes), food is untasety, and dessert is so dry. This is the first time I had to throw my meal away. This is neither a good spot for vegan food nor Caribbean. People saying otherwise probably never been to a good vegan restaurant.
Amazing food and great people. I came here for this first time today wanting to try something new, &boy was i in for a treat. This is definitely a hidden jem. I had the un goat, Eggplant,&sweet potato cornbread. Me being vegan its hard to find places like this that really put love into the food. They are passionate about what they do and its greatly appreciated. My new go to spot in the West End.
Oh my goodness! This his a diamond in the rough. I love it. I would have never known it was tucked away where its located. I recently stopped eating meat so my friends and I wanted to check out the vegan restaurants. This place didnt disappoint. Friendly staff and amazing flavor! I will be returning with my family soon.
I am picky about any food I eat so I prefer to just eat home cooked meals, but this place is an exception. It was sooo good! I am Jamaican and I know good food when I taste it. This place is great. The curry ungoat is my fav so far, but I need to taste more of their dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Ordered on uber eats. Very little quantity of food for the money. Most of the menu items were sold out by 12:30pm. Received food in timely manner, but was spilling out of the bag. Most of my order was in the bag rather than in the container, so much so that it was spilling out of the bag. To me that was unacceptable. Flavor was sub par and meat quality was low (taking into account it is listed as a vegan place). May be good to a vegetarian or a vegan, but to someone who eats meat, this did not satisfy.
Always ask for a plastic NOT paper bag if youre picking up. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone if the sauce from my food didnt spill out and tear open my paper bag and mess up the seats in my carEVERY SINGLE TIME I pick up my food. Its ridiculous to continue using paper bags for wet food!! Im tired of my food spilling everywhere.
I recently decided to try this place the day before Mothers Day. The space is small but nice. The man behind the register was kind and really helped me to decide on something good. I ended up trying their curry ungoat with rice and beans, along with cabbage and plantains. It was pretty good. Ill be back for sure.
The young Server was very professional and served with a smile. I like that we were able to sample the food before we ordered. I especially enjoy the RASTA PASTA, lentils, Curry un-goat, and the sweet potato cornbread was delish. And the Beet and ginger beverage a potent and fresh.
The delivery person delivered my food to a random person standing on the street. The person answering the phone wasn’t helpful at all. Just kept saying how the delivery person gave it to Barbi. How when I was standing outside for 20mins waiting and watching on the GPS tracker. The delivery person never came to my location I believe because of traffic and instead lied and said it was handed to me. Who hands 60$ worth of food to a stranger ?
This was my first time visiting this establishment. From the time I walked in my sister and I were greeted by a wonderful gentleman who allowed us to sample some of the wonderful food options. The warm atmosphere was inviting and the food was amazing. I will definitely be returning.
Very good customer service ...I was able to sample most of the food on the menu. I had to make him stop giving me samples otherwise I was going to get too full. Overall the food was yummy I will go there every night if I could. The portions were very large I ordered one plate and split it with my boyfriend we both were full.
Bland, Unseasoned, watery curry. Waste of MONEY! The staff were great but the food is a complete waste of money. The curry wheat gluten tasted like watered down curry that an inexperienced cook would make. The flavors are just not there. The beans (peas) and rice had nooooo flavor what so ever, same with the veggies. Liquid smoke and pepper is the most you would taste from it. Dont waste your time and money on this food. The price are a rip off as well.
Today was my first time at Healthfull (stumbled upon it on the way to another vegetarian spot in the area). I am in fact full! Its been a week since Ive eaten any meat. I ordered collards and okra today; the advertised menu wasnt quite what was available. The collards were a little bland to me, they included red bell peppers. I really enjoyed the okra. The plantains were ok. The sweet potato cornbread is different...Ill go back again and broaden my horizons. ;)
Nothing special. Definitely not worth the high prices. If you dont cook this is a good place for you. If you do cook dont bother. At dinner time the vegetables were dried out and the selection was slim. Its just ok. I doubt I would go back. The staff is pleasant and courteous and it looks clean although I carried out.
I cant believe I havent reviewed this place - it is one of my top go-to vegan spots in Atlanta. The food is DELICIOUS - how do they make all those delicious un-meats?! I just dont know!. The staff are super friendly - they always remember us when we come in and ask how were doing and seem to genuinely care. Weve never been disappointed - ever - except when we get there and it turns out theyre closed, LOL (why dont we just look up the hours?).Some of the things you HAVE to try are: Sweet Potato Cornbread, Un-Fish Patties, Chickpea Patties, and Roti Plate (its like a burrito with three of the available dishes).
Great service. Decent food. Soy meats, Vegan options, and select raw foods. I think with the name “healthful” they should not serve texturized vegetable protein aka soy. Tasty juices and smoothies. Try the moringa moss, almost worth the $8! Inside seating available and boutique for shopping
This is my first time coming to this establishment and it more than likely will be my last time. Prior to ordering I called to understand how the roti was sold, the person who answered the phone stated you get one unmeat and two sides. I called back and ordered two curry goat roti’s with sides of Mac and uncheese, and rice and peas. The person on the phone took so long to take the order stating she wanted to make sure we were coming to retrieve the food, we told her we were getting off the exit which meant we were less than 2 mins from the location. When we got there no food was prepared, and we were told there was no Mac and uncheese, no rice and peas. Since we called ahead, were anticipated the food to be ready, as well as we were confused why we weren’t informed that those two items were out. Now we are being told you don’t get sides and everything is put inside the roti. This particular piece of information should have been made clear prior to placing the order, since we were under the impression we were getting a roti with two sides. The customer service was horrible, and was unwelcoming.
Most definitely the best vegan food in Atlanta PERIOD.. also the best carribean food I have had since I left the island..no joke.. you will love yourself for trying this place out..MUST GO FOR ALL VEGANS.. or people who want are curious about the lifestyle.. or someone whos trying to get their love ones to transition
I love the spicy lentils, BBQ tofu, in-fish cakes(which is something like a hush puppy or fritter) if you are a meat eater and wan to try some thing healthy and new with out being disappointed, Id recommend the jerk un-chicken with rice and peas, collard greens, and Mac in un-cheese! I eat there adivdly. My favorite dessert is the gluten free coconut blueberry cake, and the gluten free carrot cake. Everything is made from scratch, and the environment is festive, loving, and communal. I love it they will help you adjust if you are used to meat and help you with any ailments you are having by changing your diet and recommending you to certified wholistic nutritionist and doctors. The food may be out of some peoples budget however it is worth the investment. The staff works hard, provides good food, and health Knoweldge its well worth a try.
I went to this place in my US Airforce uniform and OMG Ive never been treated rude like that, esp in my uniform. I requested to eat there, my food was served without drink/water. I asked if drink was served in addition and the response was very rude we can get you some if you want, i could tell the water they served was tap water. Smh pathetic!!! Obviously my last time going there and I will not recommend it to anyone
My second order from Uber Eats from this place was really disappointing. The first one was perfect and I was excited as I thought I found me a nice Vegan black owned place to get Caribbean food from. But unfortunately my second order from them today had a little something extra in it. Smooshed on the inside bottom of my sealed Fruit Moss bottle was a small black roach in the sea of fruity yellow. I was baffled and hoped that it was a seed or something like that, but my intuition wouldnt let me just drink it, and I definitely know what a roach looks like as I have stayed in some not so nice places before lol. I decided to pour it out into another cup, and spooned out the black area and saw little antenna and legs, and saw for sure it was a roach. I was torn about reviewing this place but I am so disappointed and grossed out because I wanted to love Healthful Essence as there is no place like it, but I had to alert others to my gross experience! I hope this restaurant vastly improves the way they keep their restaurant clean and present food to their customers.
I love this place I drive 2 1/2 hours just to come ...Ive never had a bad experience and I appreciate how the owner take time to talk and answer any question about the dishes...the Sorrell juice is GREAT !! I see reviews that people complain I cnt see y ..THANKS N CONTINUE DOING THE GREAT JOB U ALL DO ....I COME FROM MILLEDGEVILLE

2021-11-14I learned about this restaurant during my African History Tour of Atlanta and I returned the next day during the lunch hour to give it a try. After asking one question, the cashier/server asked if it was my first time and offered me a taste test. I wasn’t expecting that. But I appreciated that the restaurant goes the extra mile. They explained the meat substitute options and provide a decent taste portion for me to try. Everything was delicious to be honest. I settled on The Run Down, a veggie soup sort of, and Plantains. I also ordered a Mixed Fruit Smoothie and 2 Drinks - Iced Tea and Green Tea Lemonade (I think that was it). My total came up to approximately $40 but it was all worth it. 2022-04-15The food is delicious. I am not a vegetarian but leaning more and more towards a vegan diet. I was in the area and decided to try Healthful Essence for a late lunch. I was very pleased with the food and service. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is a very small neighborhood restaurant and the food is amazing. I will definitely be returning to this place.

2022-02-07I have visited several times and truly enjoy the freshness and quality of their food. They give you decent portions and the customer service is consistently good! I dont ever feel rushed when ordering and if you have any questions about any of the items, they are very helpful with answering any inquiries. It can get a lil pricey based on what you order, but its well worth it. I love their food and would recommend this place to others.

The food was very flavorful and filling I will absolutely be back. (I skipped work early from Emory to come here and it was well worth it)

2022-03-07My husband and I went this past weekend for the first time and it was very pleasant. We tried pretty much everything on the menu and it was delicious. We also ordered the detox which was highly recommended. We will definitely be back 💜

2022-05-23Definitely a 5 star!! They are very creative with their vegan Caribbean eats! This is my go to place for a healthy, inexpensive, and a great portion of food! Their eggplant & plantains are the best! And the cornbread is everything!

2022-02-23I love the restaurant and all of the workers . Princess is a jewel and cooks with perfections. Charles makes juices that are very delicious . I recommend this restaurant to anyone that is vegan or trying to convert over. Take that challenge.
