A neighborhood gem - and worth the drive if you dont live in Virginia-Highland. Alec and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable and truly committed to ensuring you get the right shoe for your needs. They take the time to understand how you will be using your shoes and ensure the perfect match. Highland Runners is the only place our family buys our running/workout/exercise shoes!
I needed some new shoes and was blown away by how much help I got. Took into account my issues, running style, and foot shape to help pick out new shoes. Gave other tips on running mechanics and was super nice and helpful. I was so happy with the experience and definitely have a go to spot for my running needs.

Amazing customer service. The owner has over 30 years experience, which was clearly demonstrated. I asked questions and he was able to give helpful pointers to improve my running. I was able to try on and use each product to make sure it was the right fit for me. Great for new runners, vets, and everything in between. My husband has been on the hunt for new running shoes for awhile and just couldn’t find the right fit. We went to multiple running stores in the area, but nothing compared to the service at Highland Runners. Not only did they take the time to make sure he was comfortable, but they also made sure the shoes fit correctly based on his running style. We will absolutely be back!
Alec helped me choose (much needed) new running shoes; and they couldnt be more perfect! He got me on the treadmill to analyze my gait and even gave me running tips that I had never heard, (mind you I have been playing soccer for 21 years). 10/10 customer service and quality!
From the second I walked through the door, I felt welcomed. Alec was super knowledgeable and guided me through different shoe options that suited my needs (and ones I werent aware about!) based on my form on the treadmill. Recently got into running- I don’t know much, but that I needed a good pair of shoes! Went there for the first time! Was very impressed on how they fitted me for shoes! I ran on the treadmill so they could take a picture of how I run. Then explained To me how I run and helped me with my running posture. I found my pair that really works for me! Couldn’t be happier! Best customer service! I was so excited by my shoes put them on and went for a run after!
Best running store in Atlanta. They performed a gait analysis and gave me some exercises to improve my gait without trying to sell me any shoes! I ended up buying a pair from them because the service was so great. Will buy all my shoes from this store in the future.
Great store for running and cross training shoes and excellent customer service! Alec asked a series of questions then recommend shoes to fit my specific needs. He even helped me understand what I should tweak about my running form.

Such a great experience! Alec helped me pick out the right running shoes for me based on my gait analysis (using a treadmill and a video to determine the points of impact on my feet/where the support needed to be on a shoe), the distance Im currently running, and what Im training towards. This is probably the most customized shoe shopping experience Ive had, and Im a lifelong runner. Highly recommend! (And cant wait to join the next running meetup!)
I went to Highland Running looking for new shoes for walking. I need shoes with strong support and the first pair I was handed were perfect! I also got tips for keeping my feet pain free. I will definitely be returning!
I had an excellent experience at Highland Runners. I am rehabbing from Achilles surgery and was concerned about getting the best shoe and fit to get me back to running. Knew the style of Nikes I had always worn wouldnt cut it. Alec did an awesome job of finding me the perfect shoes, having me try on several different shoes and sizes and run on their treadmill. He was very knowledgeable about the brands and styles and what would work for me and my feet. He also gave me sound running advice!
Superb experience! Before pulling out a pair of shoes, the owner, Alec, took the time to analyze the wear and tear on my current running shoes and had me run on a treadmill to understand the type of support I needed. He also gave me tips on strength exercises I could do to improve my running form. I left with all my questions answered and excited to hit the pavement. Can’t recommend Highland Runners enough!
I had an amazing experience here. I am prone to running related injuries, and I was given tips on changes I can make to prevent injuries after I was fitted for sneakers and my gait was analyzed. My new sneakers are amazing. The store also has many different accessories for runners, none of which were pushed on me, and all of which I am glad I purchased. I would highly recommend this place!
I have been to several group runs with highland runners. Finally went to buy a pair of shoes. The experience was a great one. The owner watched me run and recommended a great pair of shoes based on the way my foot lands. I have only run in them once, but it was a great run and the shoes are worth the expense. Highly recommend! The owner even gave me a birthday gift!

Bought new running shoes a few weeks ago from Highland Runners and was super pleased with the entire experience. The staff was very knowledgeable about the types of shoe that would best fit me based on my gait analysis, and also gave me some great pointers on how to continue improving as a runner. I was assisted by Alec during my visit. I went on the treadmill and he analyzed my running. He was super understanding of me being a very casual runner. He literally took the time to teach me how to run better in only 10 minutes. I walked out with a pair of Mizuno running shoes I was happy with! A great small business to support!
I love purchasing my running shoes at Highland Runners! They have a pretty good selection of running shoes and a treadmill you can try the shoes on. Friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Each time I go, I always bring the pair thatll be replaced and show them to the employee helping me. By doing this theyre about to recommend different shoes to try. I recommend that you test out shoes everytime (be sure to come later in the day to get a more accurate fitting, feet will swell naturally as the day progresses). This is because shoe manufacturers frequently come out with new versions of the same model. On another note they have a regularly scheduled running group, I recommend it if you want to be part of a community.
Came here to get fitted for my first running shoes!! Ive always been a swimmer and never been a runner. Decided to do my first race(The Peachtree) and was refered to this place. The experience was excellent! Impressed with their service and product offering! Now I understand why runners go to specialty running stores. They seem to handpick the best shoes in the market.
Visited this store today and had an incredible experience! This place large variety of exceptional running shoes. They perform a gait analysis and will find the shoe that will help you get the most from your run, while keeping you comfortable. I was also in the store looking to buy a new GPS watch and had set my sights on one of the more expensive watches, but the salesman actually tried to convince me to buy one of the cheaper models instead of trying to pitch the one that cost more. That is a rare quality that you will not find any many other stores.

Just visited and bought myself a pair of running shoes from the chillest dude ever. I told him I had flat feet, and instantly whipped out some shoes to try; after, he analyzed my running form on the treadmill. I was referred to this place by a friend who is a marathoner. She spoke very highly of the place so I went in this past weekend. As an avid runner, Ive been to just about all of the running stores in ATL. I must say, I was beyond impress with Highland Runners. First thing I noticed was their different and unique product offering of running shoes which was intriguing. Loved their apparel selection and leggings! I was most impressed with their gait analysis. I had recently gone to a physical therapist and was told that my left hip drops. During the analysis at HR, they were able to point out the exact same thing which no other running store has ever mentioned! I was fitted with On Cloudflyer. I ran 6 miles this morning and love them! I highly recommend this place if youre looking for a top gait analysis and properly fitted running shoes!
This isnt a grab-and-go show store. Usually, I would go in to another shoe store and just pick something that looks good. At this store, they see how you run and provide tips on improving your form, and recommend a shoe that would benefit you. Also, their shoes look cool.

Very positive experience. I really enjoyed the gate analysis and how informative/helpful the salesperson was (I dont remember his name). As a result--I got a totally different shoes from what Ive been wearing for basically my entire life, and on the first two runs with them, my knee/achilles pain is almost undetectable! 2022-01-25Alec is amazing. This is my third time buying shoes from Highland Runners and each time has been an exceptional experience. He took the time to understand what my needs and use for my shoes would be and pointed me in the right direction. He is incredibly knowledgeable and as someone who works out and stands a lot for my job, and having someone guide my shoe purchase makes a huge difference. I cannot recommend this place enough!

There were several people trying to get shoes in store and I was able to be questioned, fitted, arch outlining, and have a slow motion running analysis while everyone else also received the same special care very quickly. Attentive staff who care. Best running store I have been to and they have earned my running purchases here on out!

2022-02-28I came to Highland Runners less than a week before my first marathon. I had some minor injuries and needed new shoes, gels, and other necessities. Alec saved the day with his recommendations - especially the compression socks I purchased. I had a great first marathon experience and a big part of that had to do with Alec’s knowledge & products. I highly recommend this business!

2021-05-12Had a great experience at Highland Runners today! My husband and I went in to get new running shoes. Alec who was working there was very helpful and personal. After looking at the wear and tear on our current shoes and asking about our activity level and styles, he was able to recommend shoes for each of us. After trying on each style, we got on the treadmill for a quick test to see how they felt. Eventually, I found a pair (Saucony brand) that were not only cute - they felt great too. Excited to take my first run in these new shoes! Normally I buy shoes online, but I loved being able to try them on and test them on the treadmill in store. And the shoes were only $100. Will definitely come back next time I need a new pair.

2022-01-14I’m new to running and I wanted to get a pair of shoes to start me out. Alec was very knowledgeable, and patient with me as we tried on shoes. We did a gait assessment and he explained how the suggested running show would help with my supination, along with proper running technique.This is the 3rd running store I’ve been to in Atlanta, and it’s the only one that the employees actually took the time out to discuss my goals and gave informed recommendations vs trying to get me to purchase the most popular item.

He took his time to check my running form and provided me with tips on improving it. He took into account my past injuries and the amount of training I do. Also, as military he provided me with a free pair of socks which where great. Not only did he take his time to pick a shoe that works well for me but also recommended a wonderful place for my husband and I to visit while in town.
