The Doctors and staff have always been good and friendly, but I cannot believe you failed to call in my husbands medication to the pharmacy when the appt was at 3pm. This is unacceptable. When you are sick and need antibiotics, failing to send over the prescription is negligent.

My appointment was at 2pm. I understand everyone is understaffed at the moment but I sat for 30 minutes in the room while I heard an entire story about someone’s date. So they couldn’t have been that busy 🙄 Then someone finally came in, put a blood pressure cuff on me, walked out and didn’t come back for 15 minutes. This time I heard what they planned to cook for dinner. My regular PCP, Dr. Shorter is amazing. She is attentive and good at what she does. She is the ONLY Doctor in the practice who has ever truly helped me, I switched from Dr. Palmer to her. However, if the “B Team” aka the Nurse Prac or another Doc is handling my appointment, the visit is always way longer than it should be and unprofessional. I wish I could find another office and just take Dr. Shorter with me 😫

Caught a very bad non stop cough while visiting family. Before returning home and fear of further discomfort on my flight, my aunt referred me to her doctor to make sure it wasnt worse then a just a bad cough. From the moment I walked in the staff was very accommodating. Everyone at this office was nice, welcoming and very patient with me and my annoying consistent coughing. They were all very attentive and welcoming as if I were an existing patient. The offices were very clean and the decor gave me no inclination I was even at a doctors office! It was more like a hotel or a home!! I want to move to Georgia now just so this can be my Primary Doctor!! Thanks Dr. Palmer & staff for making me feel much better and having a quiet coughless trip back home!! When I come back I will come try out the weight loss program to leave the pounds I picked up in Georgia this time!!

I was treated very rudely at this facility. I only give one star because I cant give less than that. When they changed an appointment by letter, I called to confirm the date and time, and the person who answered the phone told me to come in the next day. When I did come in the next day, I was simply told I didnt have an appointment and that I should have confirmed that fact. When I explained that I HAD called, they were condescending and chastised me for not knowing the protocol. A doctor was called out of a meeting to see me. He was nice and helped me with my situation. Then, a little over two months later, I had a mammogram that I asked to have sent to my PCP--Dr. Shorters office. When I called to get the results, almost a full week after the diagnostic office sent the results to them, I was given the run-around and transferred to four people, none of which would help me. One person told me that they couldnt help me because they were about to close in 20 minutes.I then drove there and asked the front desk to help me. They argued with me and told me that they had only seen my once--they didnt have a record of my second appointment! (the one that they had confirmed yet forgotten). And apparently, they didnt keep a record of it. Its very frightening that they dont have a record of me coming the second time. Not to mention the fact that if they were paying attention to my medical record, they would have known to set up a time for my next lab work (I have high cholesterol). [They never set up labs, even though I asked if I needed to have them set up]The girl at the front desk told me that she couldnt help me with my mammogram results simply because they had only seen me once at the facility (even though they had seen me twice actually). Im not sure why that even mattered, but they also said that they hadnt received my mammogram results, even though I had been just been told by the diagnostic facility twenty minutes before that the results were sent to them almost one week before.I was obviously incredibly upset, but I left with, Im just going to leave now and I wont be back. When I walked toward the door, I grabbed the one that was locked, and the girl behind the counter said, Wrong door in a very condescending manner. I gotta say--what the heck? I was never rude, even though I was justifiably angry. Why would someone be rude to a patient who just wanted to know the results of her mammogram?I would NOT recommend this doctors office to anyone. The doctors might be good, but you MUST have a competent, responsible, and caring staff to make sure your patients good the best care.

For the most part, the doctors are wonderful! My only issue is that their staff is all over the place, rude, and dont take responsibility for their mistakes. I understand there is a $25 fee for paperwork, and I paid that fee. Unfortunately, my paperwork wasnt done correctly. I called for three weeks asking for them to make a simple change so I can return to work. NO ONE returns my calls or dont know what Im asking about each time I call, so that means they are not keeping record of your calls. Finally, I received a call (after having to be rude, which Im honestly not), and I was told by the nurse that my paperwork was MISSING! Really?? So, I made an appointment because I have the original. To make a long story short, my paperwork was corrected...BUT billing decided to bill me another $25 for paperwork. Wait, so I have to pay for their mistake? I wouldnt have the nerve or audacity to ask someone to pay an additional $25, especially when you lose my paperwork!!! Oh well, other than that I cant complain about my medical treatment. Dr. Shorter and Dr. Palmer is the best!!!

Was shopping for a new doctor. Contacted Houston Family Medical and made a consultation appointment with Dr. Shorter to meet her and see if this was where we wanted to move to and be our primary care physician. Dr. Shorter had really great reviews and my wife was really excited to see what the ShapeUp Weightloss Center had to offer.Upon arrival, we were informed that for insurance to pay them, we would have to contact the insurance company to go ahead and change our primary care provider over to Dr. Shorter, prior to meeting her and deciding if we even wanted her to be our provider. Otherwise, we would have to pay $120 office visit just to meet the doctor and find out what Houston Family Medicine/ShapeUp Weightloss Center could do for us. This would be equivalent to paying a contractor to come give you an estimate of what it would cost to put a new roof on your house. Im not going to pay a doctor to meet them to see if theyre a good fit for me to be their patient. We made it very clear when we made the appointment that we were only wanting to meet the doctor to see if this would be a good fit for our family. Based on our initial results, I would say it is not. Never got to actually meet Dr. Shorter, so she may be an excellent doctor and this review is about Houston Family Medicine as a whole and not the doctor herself.

DO NOT GO HERE THE DOCTORS AND STAFF ARE AWFUL AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Tests do not get done like they are suppose to and you will never get results of anything if they are done! Ever since Michelle ran from this place (for good reason) it has gone down hill and fast. They lost a great NP she was the only reason why alot of people stayed there now everyone is running for the hills and cant seem to get away from this place fast enough!

If you want to experience the following, then this is the place:1. Wait forever to be seen!2. They require you to return every 30 days for prescription refills. Pay the same fee each time.3. Wait for ever to get refills.4. Each nurse and doctor tells you something different each time. No consistency.5. Treated like your an inconvenience.6. If you see a different doctor, expect your medication to be changed or dropped.7. Don’t expect any pain medication, even if you’ve been taking the same medications for years!8. Incompetent doctors, don’t even review your entire history and just decide to stop giving you your medication.9. Blames everything on your insurance, not there policy.10. Plan on sitting in the room and wait forever for the doctor to show up.I was in a car accident, I’ve been to pain management doctors and physical therapy as well dealt with getting back injections. I own my own business and I’m a family man. I say that simply to state I’m not just wanting pain pills!! I was on tramadol for years and stopped after the injections. The shots only helped the pain and I eventually had to go back onto tramadol, I hated it and asked this place if there was a different option. They started me on Tylenol 3. It’s very mellow and just took the pain down enough to manage. I was happy with that. I miss an appointment, and it took 5 days to get into the dr office and a different doctor tells me, we don’t prescribe that stuff and refused to refill my meds. Tells me I’m going to go to a back dr instead. Seriously?? Who just shuts off a persons meds cold turkey?? Messed up!! I’ll be posting my review everywhere I can. This place has been a nightmare from day one. It’s seriously the most screwed up place I’ve ever been to. I moved here a year and a half ago, I’ve dealt with this list above from day one. I thought, once they understand my history and see that I’m not just after drugs, they will become more user friendly. Nope, your a simple insurance payment to them. That’s why they make you come back every month. That’s insane. I’m done. I should have looked around before choosing them, I did and even other offices are saying that’s crazy!! Good luck to you if you go in. I’m sorry but I told you so!!
