This little Moroccan gem is a great place to enjoy falafel, salads, shwarma, tahini, hummus, taboulie, etc. Dine in or take out. Atmosphere is like that is a sandwich shop. Excellent food. Ill be back.
Been enjoying these rolled sandwiches since the early days, when the restaurant was inside Perimeter Mall. The food quality and friendly service didnt disappoint then or now.
Great flavors and so fresh. They used to be up at perimeter so if you miss them head on down. Edit after the meal: the shawarma was very tasty and there was so much meat in the sandwich it was very filling. I had the babaganoush and it was not as strong flavored as some other places, so if youve had it in the past but it was too strong for you give it a shot here. It was delicious.
Good food, period. Their sides, baba ganoush, tabouleh, roasted cauliflower, etc., just good food. Mr. Hovan has been around a long time. Nice guy.
Ive been a fan of this place since yhey were at Perimeter Mall years andvyears ago. The tasty dishes they still serve are unfortunately marred by indifferent employees.

Let me start by saying the people here are so nice. They didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all or not knowing what I wanted. I was just going to get a falafel sandwich, but he talked me into getting the potato salad and cauliflower. Am I glad I did! Sauces are delicious and hot sauce not too hot. Really pleased. I can’t wait to try something new next time!
The staff is so warm and welcoming, but the food is just par. Id go elsewhere for Greek if I wasnt so taken by the neighborly friendliness of the employees

Love this place. I would like to try another dish next time Im there but the Hovan rolls are delicious! The gentleman at the counter is very friendly and courteous. I wish they had a location in Lawrenceville, closer to home.
The Food is amazing!! Worth the try and very reasonable priced for such fresh food. Today we met the owner of the resturant, he was such a sweetheart! Great experience, amazing food, fantastic prices! Tasty Vegan and vegetarian options available 10/10
The food was not good. The lamb is not real lamb but beef instead. Do not expect typical gyro meat or Mediterranean cuisine. The shawarma was the worst I have ever had. The Lamb Meat and sides tasted more tahini bitter than seasoned and flavorful. I will not be back.
50% price increase? No thanks! I didn’t enjoy my chicken shawarma sandwich like I used to…something is off. The staff and probably the owner needs training on customer service. Agree with others that you don’t feel welcome…it’s like they are doing you a favor! Anywho, I could tolerate that nonsense before when the sandwich plus 2 sides and a drink cost $8.99.. not anymore and not coming back!
Delicious vegan wraps, hummus and falafel sandwich!
By far the worst Mediterranean food I have ever eaten (and it was very expensive). My boyfriend and I tried the beef shawarma. It was full of gristle and neither one of us could finish it. The sauce on mine was definitely not what youd get traditionally (he got his without sauce). The labneh was decent, but the babaghanoush was off. Definitely wouldnt recommend. The dogs seems to enjoy the meat, but they arent at all picky. Pistachio baklava was the only thing I enjoyed and it was amazing, so extra star for that!
Best beef shawarma Ive had in years. Excellent babaghanoush and dolma as well. They had a varied selection of fresh-made sides. Ill have to come back to try some others. While eating inside, I overheard many other customers ordering the 3-side meal. That sounds like a wise option. Friendly service!

Consistently a great place to eat. Its one of my favorite spots in all of Atlanta. The owner is always cordial and gracious! I was so grateful to have located them after they mysteriously disappeared from Perimeter Mall.
Hovan is my personal favourite in Atlanta. Its near Brookehaven (Johnson Frry Rd) Walgreens.I love their Hovan rolls, Sawarma Wraps, Grilled chkn wrap .. Their soups & sides (specially hummus & the roasted cauliflower salad) is fantastic! The lavash bread is the best to make your wrap with.You will always get a warm welcome from the fantastic people inside & obviously the Owner of this place is someone whom you always feel great to talk with. I visit the twice a month for sure if not more.I am quite sure the anyone will love their food !!
The beef and lamb shawarma was nicely seasoned and tender lots of flavor. There are a lot of great sides to choose from. Very quick service great for lunch break.
I eat here at least once a week. Always fresh and home made soup everyday. I look forward to their friendly service and seeing the staff. The beef/lamb open face or chicken shawarma open face are great. They are known for their rolls, which we pickup entire rolls for family get-togethers. They are always a hit with the family. My wife and I love their hot pita chips with the hummus and/or baba ganoush. Thank you.
(4 1/2 stars) The lamb kabob here is really good. (Although the kabobs arent posted on the wall menu! The person behind the counter (the owner?) implied they would be posted soon.) The quality of meat & taste were both excellent. Really liked the hummus and lentil soup as well. Also I like that its order at the counter and seat yourself -- I prefer causal like this. The one thing I didnt love was the rice pilaf -- and I love rice pilaf! It had a bit of an odd taste. Tasted like it was cooked on a grill or something, and you were picking up the taste of the grill. The rice wasnt horrible, though. Place is clean inside and I enjoyed the Greek(?) music that was playing (which was more pop than traditional). Worth checking out if you like Mediterranean food.

My go to place for Mediterranean food for over a decade!
Upon my entrance no one spoke or addressed me. I was still excited about trying the food everything.l looked so fresh. . Although I was never greeted, I still ordered. However, it was during my order that I noticed how rude the young worker was to me. As I asked questions he seemed to become irritated. The more I asked the more he returned the same behavior. I shared my experience with another employee. His response was that my experience wasnt true.Was the food good? It was okay. Would I return? No, because customer service and extending common courtesy is important to me..
The Hovan roll sandwiches never disappoint. Mediterranean salad makes for a nice side to go with the signature roll-up sandwiched. Dine in or tables out front on the patio are both an option.
Absolutely delicious hummus and falafel here. My partner and I both got the falafel wrap with one side each. Would definitely come back again for lunch.
Hovan used to be one of my favorite places to eat, pre-pandemic. I would eat there at least once every two weeks. The falafel was always perfect, the portions were spot on, the staff was super warm and friendly, and the veggies were crispy and fresh. Tonight though, it was really depressing. The staff was pretty rude and dismissive, the falafel were mushy, the cabbage and tomatoes had seen better days. I am really disappointed, I L O V E D this place and I am hoping they manage to get the quality of their food and their staff back up to where it was.
We love Hovan! The food is always great and consistent. They are so friendly as well. We go a few times a week as my wife works near the restaurant and its a convenient place to meet up. Give it a try!
This place is so good. Authentic Mediterranean food. Owner treats well his guests. I ordered Falafel and Hummus which was just mouth watering and his people made it fresh. So good. He also introduce me to new soup Gazpacho which is addictive. Its great to find this place
The club roll was delicious! The young man that made the sandwich was so very nice and professional...the older gentlemen, not so much!
Love this place! All the sides are just delicious. We had chicken shawarma, lentil salad, mediterranean salad, and lentil soup. We sat outside but inside the restaurant was following all Covid-19 protocols so eating inside is an option. You get a lot of food and we took leftovers home.
Ive been working in the area for 1.5 years and somehow I just found this place. I find myself exclusively eating here now and i doubt that will ever change. So fresh, so delicious, very healthy. Every ingredient is amazingly high quality, the place is perfectly clean, the ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, and the people are kind and welcoming. I dont know what else to say other than I truly love Hovan.
As someone who loves mediterranean food this is simply my favorite spot in Atlanta. A group from my office used to eat here weekly before covid sent us all home. I still make the 30 min drive from my house to get it when the cravings hit. The food is always so fresh and well made. Shawarma is a great first choice but the chicken salad roll and veggie rolls are also delicious. Dont miss this local favorite!
I liked this place. It was very clean, there was minimal wait, and the food looked and tasted very good. The gentleman who served me was patient and respectful. The selection is pretty darned good for small made to order place like this. I would like to see some lamb gyros... but maybe Im just a filthy Mediterranean casual? TIP: You HAVE to try the walnut stuffed figs. they are expensive but very worth it. Two people could probably split one.
Hovans is a staple for our family. We love it all. Everything is fresh made on site. Fantastic Mediterranean!! Dont miss the soups and chowders. My favorite is tilapia chowder served only on Friday. My son loves the wraps. We all love the baba ghanoush. Everything on the menu is solid. This is wholesome, healthy food created and served by great folks!
I was introduced to Hovan many years ago & their food is so healthy & is always fresh. The owner is so very nice. I make a special trip just to treat myself to the food. Lovely atmosphere & quiet place to go & enjoy.

My husband went for lunch to this place having read the reviews. However, we were not treated well during our visit. The young man making the food had an unfriendly attitude that made us lose our appetites. I give the two stars because the Eritrean woman was kind to us. As for the food, it was okay. I had the lamb kabob and that was okay. My husband had chicken shawarma and it was the worst we’ve ever had. It was dry, no sauce. Literally just chicken over rice. And the sides were okay, only thing is they give you like crackers, which is not an authentic side to have with Mediterranean dish at all. This place is five mins from our home but never would we come back again. I was so disappointed and I’m still questioning how it got 4 stars. Maybe we just came on the wrong day! Bottom line is, I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Great quick service Mediterranean restaurant! I ove this family owned restaurant. They always use quality ingredients in all their dishes which makes everything tasty and healthy! On top of all that everyone there is so friendly. We go there for the falafel and veggie wrap! Tons of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians!
I stumble upon this Greek haven as my partner and I were headed to the Korean bbq festival. The festival was a flop, we were hungry and wanted to find lunch. so we find this amazing Mediterranean place down the road. The food is delish! The customer service is great! The hummus is fire and I can’t get enough of the tabouleh! If you like Mediterranean food then you need to try this place!
I am very fond of Hovan in general, and their cauliflower soup in particular. The last few weeks I was craving it so much that I’d call them almost everyday to see what kind of soups they had, hoping for cauliflower. Soon, one of their employees beat me to it - she called me to let me know that the soup of the day was cauliflower. I hadn’t even asked them to do that, or even given them my name or phone number. I don’t think I’ve experienced better customer service anywhere else - Hovan genuinely cares about their food and their customers. I love this place and I will continue to eat here multiple times a week.
Wonderful falafel and baklava. Perfect portions. The atmosphere is nice too.
I was pretty unenthusiastic about the lamb shawarma. The meat was over done and they over sauced it. There was one tiny tomato. We also got hummus and salad as a side. The salad was pretty much completely wilted. The humus tasted pretty bad, too. They gave us what tasted like stale from a bag pita chips to go along with it, too. Over all, I cant believe this place has four stars.
I have not found a better Mediterranean restaurant, and I’ve been trying to find one for over 10 years. I’ve loved Hovan’s since they were located at Peremited Mall and can say their quality, care, and passion for their craft hasn’t changed. They have the best food but they are super kind people - love this place.Thankful they provide their expression of creativity to the planet!Ps Get the Lamb Swarma and Baba as a side!
Dont mind the line, this place is worth the wait.Hovan is a long time Atlanta stay but until moving to this location, find in several local shopping malls.Top of menu are their rolled sandwiches on flat bread. While these are great, I recommend looking depends on the menu. Their shwarma and falafel, offerings are Delicious, complemented by great fresh dudes that can stand alone as their own meal.What really makes this place great are the owners and staff here. You can tell they love their food and appreciate you as a customer!
Hovan has great food and the staff is always pleasant and professional. The potato salad is excellent - the best around. The only downside is the parking. Dont even attempt to find a spot on Friday evening or Saturday at lunch. I hope they stay in business for a long time!
The owner for business is very welcoming and the food was delicious. Would recommend their cuisine to anyone who is looking for a big meal at an amazing price. Will leave you content and ready for a nap.
This restaurant is not bad per se, but I think it doesn’t shine among the competition. I really liked their kofte! Definitely try it out. I also liked the cauliflower soup. But that’s about it. I was very surprised to see crackers are served with sides and not pita bread. A big miss in my book. Kofte tasted great but it was over a bed of rice with half a pita bread. Not a $14 worth food/presentation even with the sides I think. Their pita bread was cold, hard and thin. Definitely did not like it. They treat their sides pretty stingily. Also, not sure why they chose to put right off the grill hot kofte on a plastic plate and not on one of their paper plates. Our plate showed signs of melting at the bottom due to heat. Probably not the best thing to eat! Overall, I would probably choose to go to our other Mediterranean favorites over Hovan. But you should give it a try and have your own opinion.
I ate at their Perimeter Mall location years ago, maybe 20+. I was searching for Mediterranean food in the area, I saw Hovan. Seemed familiar, but didnt link the two until hours later.Absolutely my favorite restaurant. Its not convenient to my work or home but I will be going out of my way often. I LOVE the Hovan sandwich.
Such a hidden treasure! I’ve tried almost everything here and have never been disappointed. Please give up the chain Mediterranean restaurants for one day and just try this. You will be back, I promise.
Exceptional quality food. Everything in the menu has a distinct touch of spices, nothing resembles to another and any combination creates an unparalleled symphony of flavors. The experience is quite unique. For instance: even if you always order the beef and lamb shawarma, depending on your two sides of choice the flavors can be very different.
Driving through Jacksonville and my kids requested gyros. Found this gem! So clean, so friendly and food was amazing!!! You must try this place!
We love this place! The owner and staff are always welcoming, food is great. My favorite is the turkey roll sandwich, my husband loves the shawarma. Everything is good.
Best shawarma and falafel I have found. The sides are all excellent, too. Its a shame I have to drive all the way here from Marietta to get good falafel, but I do. And yes, I am well aware that there are restaurants that supposedly specialize in it near me, but they fall short, especially the one named after it.
Used to really like this place. Staff is very rude and dont even say hello or what would you like? They just stare at you like they hate you. Food is not fresh. Dont recommend.
Ordered falafel it came late but because that meant they cooked it fresh we were okay with it, but I didnt assume that they would cook the pita until it was chewy or stale while waiting on it to cook. Also, the falafel was very messy with the sauce, Im not sure if it was because I was trying to rip of the pita and mostly all the insides fell out.Wanted the spinach pastry puff that is advertised on thier website (that is why I decided to go there) and when we got there and looked at the menu we couldnt find it. I asked the older gentleman running the counter if they have it and he got smart with us like they havent had it in 6 years do you see it on the menu. News flash update your website regularly and stop false advertising.Meat was okay not typical processed gyro meat, but the cut of meat (beef/lamb) was cheap because it was extra chewy and flavorless. As was the hummas that came with sriracha hot sauce.
Great place. Awesome people. The falafel was great. They could do a better job with the hummus though. Also I would prefer soft warm pita bread instead of the crispy ones they offer along with the hummus.

If you charge your food here, then be sure to check your credit card statement.My husband and I ate here 1/6/16. Our food with tax totaled $15.71 (falafel combo @ $8.99 + veggie roll @ $5.69 + tax @ $1.03), which is stated on our receipt that I kept. They had a tip jar, but we did not tip because the service was horrible; they were having an issue with another one of their stores and were more interested in dealing with that than with us. When I checked my credit card statement it stated the charge was $20.71, so basically they tipped themselves very nicely, $5, about 30%.When my husband contacted them to complain they did not respond. My credit card refunded the $5 because it was not worth their time/trouble to bother with it. Im wondering if the people here know that or just hope their customers will not notice.The food was decent, but if they will add nearly 30% more to your charge card than what your food actually cost, then I wonder what they may do with the food to cut cost.

Ive been here for lunch multiple times and its one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants in Atlanta. They have great babaganoush, tabuli, and shwarma (gyro wraps). Id recommend this to anyone who likes Mediterranean food.

The beef shwarma is delicious!! I prefer it kosher style which means no dairy, just humus & tahini sauce. Try it even if you eat dairy, you wont be disappointed!The Armenian potato salad is amazing too!

I have always loved this place, a little less convenient because they are no longer at Lenox Square or Perimeter mall. But they are well worth seeking out, its a great sandwich. Served with hummus and chips, dolmades, and an apple and cheese stick.
Food is excellent, and the owners are so warm and inviting! Beef & Lamb shawarma with dolmades is always my go-to order, but pretty much everything on the menu is excellent
Did they get bought out? The prices went up, the owner who I’m used to seeing wasn’t there, and the food was lacking/items were left off my order..
Very good food.*** One of the only issues I have (and its *HUGE*) is that the young lady that operates the register, handles the money and credit card machine, but also does food prep as well. I find this completely DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY. She puts her hands all over (and touches the insides of) the serving containers. Last time I was there, I asked her to wear gloves. She did, but then took them off promptly after preparing my meal. ***Update: Just tried Hovan again, and this time the lady asked the cook to prepare the food and put on gloves when she handled the food.
Ive really enjoyed visiting this restaurant over the years. They used to be located in the food court at Perimeter Mall for many years but when the mall when to renovate the food court they had to move out. The owner is very friendly and the food is very good. I continue to visit this place and have really enjoyed it.
Food is really good. Service is good but when they get busy, staff tends to become disorganized. My order was first (beef/lamb shwarma) and some co-workers git the same thing. My coworkers ended up getting their shwarma first.

Im Israeli. The food Mr. Johannes serves is the closest to home Ive experienced in the states in a long time.The Shawarma, the falafel, the hummus, all where seasoned and prepared to perfection.Although I live 6 hours away, Ill definitely find my way back to this place.

This is a great spot for Shawarmas. This place used to be in Perimeter mall and I was a regular for lunch - at this new location they have the old menu plus an extended dinner menu with kabobs and such. Try it.

Get the shawarma with hot sauce and the hummus fully loaded with olive oil and the pepper relish. Hovan makes the pita chips daily, make sure to try the soup!

2022-07-16Amazing food. The owners and staff are very nice.The Hovan roll and and falafel sandwich are my go to. But if it is summer, get a bowl of gazpacho; theirs is the best I have had outside of home.

2022-08-20Im in Love!!! If you have not tried this restaurant, its a must!! YUM!!! Very authentic!!! Best Shawarma in the States!!! The service is superb!!! I think the only thing I didnt try was their falafel and thats only because I was too embarrassed to ask to try something else and I ordered everything I tried.. Will definitely be back...

2022-08-12I have eaten at hovan gourmet almost every day for years and years. i am the most loyal daily customer they ever had. Recently, the service and food has gone down hill. From disregarding me when I come to pick up my lunch, forgetting to make my to go orders, and then finally today the owner literally yelled at me for complaining that my order wasnt made right (which I rarely had to do until now). I am sad that this once amazing little gem has become a stressful and mediocre restaurant. I hope they fix their issues as I always liked the owner, but I wont be returning EVER after how I was yelled at on the phone today when I called to let them know my falafel was made wrong and the soup they gave me was incorrect. Just plain Sad.

2021-05-17Was liking forward to trying their food. They totally mess up my grubhub order. My $56 order arrived and it was wrong and the receipt was for $19. ☹😡 i will give them a second chance because grubhub refunded the missing items. Hope they get it right the second time

2019-05-28Very good food and great atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. Wish their portions were bigger though. I don’t usually eat too much but their combo1 didn’t fill me up!
