I was in town for business last week and tried many restaurants in the neighborhood. My experience at Howells was definitely the best of all of them. Crazy to me that a neighborhood bar and grill has better service than a five star steakhouse about a mile away. My waiter Bradly really made our meal special. My party of four relied on his suggestions for starters and entrees and there were raves across the board. The cocktails were great too. I just wish the wine program was a bit more extensive but thats a small nitpick in an otherwise perfect experience. Next time in Atlanta, we will definitely be back.
Just ok food. I won’t minimize the other comments but I’ve tried this place multiple times and each time it’s been underwhelming. It’s a shame they only serve the basics and fail to get it right. Bland burger the first time around..ok I won’t go there for burgers. Second time, tenders. They were dry but tasted of just grease and had no salt at all. Third time, fish and chips. SAME THING. No seasoning, just plain battered fish. Thank god for the lemon wedge cutting the grease for me. The only consistent thing that’s good is the Caesar salad. My god, if they messed that up they should shut down. Heard their pizza was ok but I won’t be back to find out. Just another over hyped Atlanta eatery. Including dry tenders and extremely greasy fish for context. Look at how wet the fish looks compared to the tender.
I came here with a group of eight people. The bartenders are fast and polite. The drinks are good. We then sat down for dinner and the waiter was efficient and witty. I ordered the pizza which was okay. Think of this as more high-end bar food versus a full restaurant. The vibe is great.
I order lunch often from Howells Kitchen and Bar often since it is close to my office. Its always so delicious and fresh! My favorite item is the Arugula and Goat Cheese salad. The citrus vinaigrette really sets this salad off! The manager, Christian, is absolutely fantastic! Great customer service and genuine care from the whole staff
This was my third visit to this restaurant. Each time I’ve gone, the food has been good but just “okay” good. I’m not sure if I’ll go back unless I’m invited there by a friend. It just doesn’t “wow” me. The first time I went, it was for a business meeting, the second time was for a friend’s party and this last time was because a friend was in that area for a massage and I met her there.I had a unique cocktail called Porch Swing which had Gin (I changed that to vodka), elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, strawberry purée, and Prosecco. It was “okay” - not as good as I’d hoped. I love elderflower liqueur but I couldn’t taste it.I also had the Fun Guy pizza on gluten-free crust. The crust cost me an extra $5. SMH. I don’t know why gluten-free items are always so much more expensive. It was “okay”. Not as flavorful as I’d hoped. My friend had the grilled ribeye and she said it was good. They have a lot of outdoor seating which I like. But - Finding a parking spot may prove to be a challenge. Overall- the food, atmosphere, and even the drinks are just okay. That’s why I gave it three stars for an “average” rating
This was my first dining experience at Howell’s and it certainly won’t be the last. We came here for my birthday and the service manager Micah came over to check on us. He was so attentive and friendly. Our food was fantastic and Micah definitely made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. If you want delicious food and a world class experience, come to Howell’s. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to meet Micah!
Really good local spot. Everyone I know in the area frequents it. The food is great and they have brunch on the weekends. They have great drink options and a full bar as well. The atmosphere feels really high end and they have a massive patio area with unique seating options.
My husband and I came in on March 20, 2022. We both had cocktails and the Salmon dish which we agree was a solid 8. However we saw our server only twice. ...once to take the order, and again 15 min. after we had finished eating. And for this we will give the service 4 at best, and will not be returning
I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. I was a regular here at one point. Never felt discriminated or in danger until this one particular night. My bartender was Joey. He recommended a dish to my that ultimately had an ingredient that my body doesn’t agree with. I simply asked him would I be able to get a different dish when he proceeded to start fussing at me about how he has to pay for it and that he wouldn’t change my dish again. We then began to go back and forth and he proceeded to get loud and irate. I told him to just give me my check and that I no longer wanted to patronize their business. I thought the altercation was over. At this time my neighbor was also there whom he was rude to as well prior to our altercation. He asked if I was ok. As I started to speak Joey came out of nowhere and slapped the counter, got in my personal space and stated that I couldn’t speak to my neighbor about what happened. I was so flabbergasted that he had the audacity to speak to me and treat me that was when I literally did nothing to him. I honestly should have put my hands on him but I didn’t. I then hear a Caucasian lady at the baby say “He always does this to black people” My neighbor and I are both African American. The following Monday I went back to speak to a manager to tell him about the incident and to have the cameras pulled so that they can see what happened and he seemed to be so empathetic and promised to get to the bottom of the situation. The manager told me he would call me with a follow up. Fast forward it been a couple of months now! Not only have I not received a call Joey the bartender is now a manager there.
Had a great time here! Ambiance was nice, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The food was pretty good. I had the pub fries as a starter, the Clucker chicken sandwich which was very good and a side of Brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were a little charred but the amazing sauce that accompanied them made up for it. The drinks were okay. Had my drink remade because it initially tasted watered down. The 2nd time was delicious. The staff were all courteous. Its definitely seems like a place that regulars hang out so thats a good point. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars was because it was so hot inside. I did ask the manager about the heat and they adjusted it and it was cooler for a time then back hot again. It couldve been from servers and guests going in and out to the outdoor dining area. Other than that great experience!
Not sure if my experience is universal, but I asked for an old fashioned made with whatever bourbon they had that was inexpensive. They charged me $20 for this, plus the appetizer I ordered (Korean beef springrolls) was $11 and tasted like hamburger helper, not bulgogi like the menu suggests.. The old fashioned was delicious and had lots of delicate flavors, though, so Im almost certain its not just my taste buds being off tonight.
This is a true gem where the West Side and Buckhead meet! The drinks, the menu and design of the restaurant are all awesome! However, what makes Howells truly great is the staff. Joey, Bradley, Deven, Evan, Tierney, Thomas and others create such a warm, welcoming and fun place to be. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The food is bomb. I opted in for all appetizers and a small pizza to share between me and my friend. We got the spinach artichoke, it was perfect. I think our favorite dish for sure was the egg rolls. If I go back I’d just eat like 3 orders of egg rolls and I’ll be satisfied lol. For drinks we got the peach mojito it definitely sneaks up on you the taste was ok maybe peaches aren’t in season but it definitely had more of a lime taste.
Cool layout with lots of outdoor patio seating, covered and open areas, including fire pits. Nice open indoors with a nice sized bar.I actually ordered online. It was somewhat confusing... ordered the Howell burger-half pound certified angus beef, shaved ribeye, american, caramelized onions, lettuce, house brined b&b pickles, pickled chili, jalapeño aioli and brioche bun. There was no mention of fries and they suggested Pub Fries for an additional $8. I added them to the order only to find that fries were included with my burger.I arrived 10 minutes early to find my order was ready. Unfortunately the club fries were lukewarm and did not check the burger until I arrived home.I was first surprised to see fries included; second very disappointed to see a very under cooked (raw) burger. If I was in the restaurant I would have sent it back.I will give them another try, but this time I will not order take out and try dining on the patio.
Great dinner and drinks pot with a cozy modern interior. Menu selections are refined American pub fare centric to pizzas, sandwiches, and salads in addition to a solid ensemble of entrees. Prices are fair and towards the lower end of a night out. Service was also excellent. Parking is available in lots and in a covered parking deck. They do take reservations.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Inside and out, both are definitely beautiful. Not the type of beautiful when youre uncomfortable in the seats and feel like you cant relax but extremely laid-back and chill type of vibe.Simple dishes taken up a notch. The placing of the food on the plate is beautiful and the food taste just as good. The menu is to the point and very decent prices. There isnt a lot of food given but definitely enough to get you full. There are TVs outside and at the bar if you choose to watch her game. Candles on every table, so it is definitely romantic....if thats the vibe youre going for. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I definitely recommend this spot.
A group of 6 of us stopped at Howells on the drive home to Nashville after a short visit to Atlanta. The food was delicious, the playlist was perfect (our group ranged in age from 19-60), and the service was friendly and attentive. My only issue was the Ceasar salad was overdressed. We had burgers, grown-up chicken fingers, pan-seared chicken, arugula salad, and Ceasar salad. We have definitely added Howells to our list of preferred places to go when we visit ATL! Yum.
Went to Howells for brunch this past Sunday and it was the perfect way to start the new year. Been here a couple times in the past and my experience was always average. Theyve really stepped up their game. Our server, Bradley, kept us laughing while he pointed us to the bright spots on the brunch menu. Definitely didnt expect this level of service at a local bar. All our food was tasty and you cant beat the mimosa deal.
Very good service, great food. Been there twice now. Good chicken tenders and today a great burger. When we are about to leave the waitress asked if we wanted to carry out drinks, so nice. Highly recommend and we will be back. This could easily become one of our favorite restaurants. And great outside seating and inside bar / restaurant atmosphere.
My boyfriend and I came here for our Valentine’s dinner and we had a great time! Amazing food and cocktails- our server, Ryan, made the experience that much better with his warm and fun personality and menu knowledge. Can’t wait to come to Atlanta again to visit again!
Cons: I had a giant gnat in my mango habanero margarita that I discovered after taking a sip. The waiter replaced it with another one, it was nasty. I told him, and he replaced it with a the Georgia peach mojito… it was nasty too. I told the waiter, he replaced it with a lemonade… it tasted horrible but I drunk it because at this point I was over sending drinks back.Pros: The ambiance was nice and the appetizers were a 6/10. We had the egg rolls and smoked mozzarella sticks. For our main dish, my daughter had the braised chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli… I had the clucker which is a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. We both agreed our meals were a 7/10.Overall, I don’t recommend and don’t I see myself returning. My overall experience was a 2/5. Although, the waiter tried his best to accommodate me, I feel like the entire experience just sucked. My mother and daughter date was ruined, wasted $75 ($10 tip). I didn’t show it in the restaurant but I decided there that I would just leave a review and be done with it. I truly hope your experience is better than mine if you still decide to go.
Went here on 12/26/21! With friends for brunch. Dre was a excellent waiter!🙂We had brussel sprouts, pamesean cheese fries, and beef egg rolls for starters. For brunch I had chicken and waffles!😘 Everything was fresh and hot .And the Mimosas was awesome! We had 3 bottles! A great place to go for a great time for food and atmosphere 😀.... with friends.
I have been here twice now, with my dogs, on the patio. Both the food and the service have been outstanding. Definitely will continue to visit. Beware of the parking vultures in the Willys parking lot connecting to theirs, as they booted my car within 5 min of being in the parking lot. The turkey burger and the pretzel, as well as the Brussels, have been amazing!
The food here was very good but the service was unbelievably slow. I will say, I think it was just our server as I saw everyone else walk by our table half a dozen times compared to our waitress. Probably outside smoking and on her phone if I were to guess. She didnt recommend anything, do any pre-bussing, or have anything resembling a personality. I HATE paying my check while staring at a bunch of dirty plates, especially if I waited 15 minutes for my check.
Gluten free pizza was ok, nothing to write home about. A little to bland. The atmosphere while eating outside is ok, would have been better if it wasnt for the fact that almost every adult sitting inside apparently sends their kids outside while they sit and socialize. The kids run up and down the stairs, play tag in the parking lot and used the front door as base, and the most annoying part was when they played football right beside where people were trying to eat. The football was hitting tables and people and noone did anything about it. I guess thats the day and age we live in now, the adults do their thing and the kids do theirs and then whenever they disrespect their parents noone seems to understand why.
We were celebrating my daughters birthday, all 10 of us and I am not sure if they were short staff but the waitress was not very attentive. We ran out of water she did not return for awhile, she said she kept the card that came with my daughters cake and some how it ended up in the trash. When people are talking and you reach for their plate to remove it is polite to say excuse me. I asked for extra caeser salad dressing and had to remind her that tasted watered down.. From the pics on website I do not know why I expected an upscale 5 start restaurant. I did not have a good experience.
First time here and Robert F was our waiter, and he was terrific. My sister is gluten intolerant, and he recommended a pizza that I could not tell the difference between gluten and regular pizza! Kassie, the manager, came and checked on us numerous times too! What a great night, great food, excellent service, highly recommend!!!
This was a neat place , we took our dogs and we were seated quickly outside, our server was busy and wasnt to our table for a good moment and we thought that maybe we didnt have one. My partner ordered a coffee and both the mug And spoon came out very dirty. They ordered biscuits and gravy and it was very dry. I wasnt impressed with this restaurant.
Parking is grossly inadequate; had to park in off site lot where 3 in my party got booted. $$225 for nothing. No signage or warnings at restaurants. Cant go back ; food and atmosphere not worth the extra cost. Parking is a problem since opening and Management doesnt care.
Lets start with food and it was VERY good! Joey the bartender was on point as well. Our waiter was so frustrated because of how long the food to to come out. An hour plus to get food and half of the food orders were wrong. He also had 8 tables around the whole restaurant. We felt really bad for him and took care of him with about a $40-$50 tip. Wasnt his fault but he was making it work.
This place is pretty cool and the service is good. It is a nice relaxing vibe here. Outdoors you will find seating by directs and outdoor heaters for a cozy setting. The Howell Burger is pretty tasty. Their house pickles are awesome. For me the pizza was so so. The Korean BBQ spring rolls were not it for me. The arugula salad with gear cheese add salmon was just right. The house wine is very reasonably priced as well as the cocktails. This is a nice place with a good vibe. I will definitely be back.
We went there for Sunday brunch. We sat inside as there was a 45 minute wait for outdoor seating. Our server was attentive and friendly, and we loved her! The food was such a let down. I ordered the hangover hash, and the eggs were over cooked and the gravy was minimal, which left the whole plate feeling dry. My friends ordered the Benedict and the chilaquiles- both had the same problem- over cooked eggs and minimal sauce. The chips were soggy, and all of the food was under seasoned. We spoke to the manager about our concerns, and she was apologetic and gifted us free appetizer coupons as well as a 15% discount. We were very grateful for this, but we will not be back. The atmosphere was beautiful and inviting, but the food was not worth a trip.
Always great service, food and drinks. Would recommend over most places in the area if youre visitng. The bartenders are all super friendly and welcoming and they have plenty of TVs for sports seasons. A bit more upscale than your average bar - only downside is parking. But hey, walk there so you dont have to have a DD, problem solved.
Had the pleasure of being served by Ryan last night and he was probably the most attentive server my wife and I have ever had at a restaurant. He was so nice and did an excellent job at explaining what was on the menu. The food was also so amazing and we will be coming here again!
Great atmosphere and the food was very good as well as large portions. Some restaurants have good food but it is the absolute minimum that that can give to maximize profits. This restaurant has seemed to find that happy medium if the right portions for the right price. Ill definitely be back
What an absolute treat to the neighborhood. Ive been here for years and can say howells only continues to improve itself. The service is always so friendly but within the last couple months has improved and makes you feel like youre invited into the family. Food and specials are always inventive. Havent had a miss.
My debit card was swiped for the wrong amount on Saturday. It is reasonable to assume mistakes happen. It is also management and the owner’s responsible to ensure that the customer is made whole or attempt to ensure the customer feels that they are a priority. The original bill was a little over $20. My card was swiped for $349.00. I caught the mistake myself and brought it to their attention.Normally establishments will make some type of accommodation to correct the mistake and ensure that the customer is happy to patronize again. The staffs response to the mistake was your money should be back in your account within 24hrs. Surprisingly no other accommodation or offers were made. I was surprised at the relaxed and comfortable body language the staff presented especially after a mistake this large had just occurred. I hope that no one else experiences this problem. I had requested the General Manager call me to check in to ensure the funds were returned. I received a call from one of his employees on the following Monday but never heard from the General Manager. In this life all we have is our word. I received my funds back on Tuesday. I am a blessed person but, some Americans cannot afford to have that sum of money taken out of their account.
Literally one of the best brunches I’ve had since I’ve been pregnant. As of today, I’m 8 months pregnant and it was some of the best food I’ve had to date! Also our waitress was amazing, I believe she was the bartender as well, and she made me an awesome mom-cocktail (Can’t remember her name, she had a flower mask on). Our food was excellent and I will definitely be back after I give birth to try their great looking cocktail list!
This is a great place, with a cool vibe and great food. The reason there are not 5 stars is because of the poor service. Both times weve been there, we had to ask someone for our server to please come by with water, or get our check or something. When we brought friends for the guys birthday dinner, it was embarrassing. Lastly, the wooden table top was super sticky. yuck.Howells has gotten so many things right, I hope they sort out these 2 issues.
Totally amazing experience. Keiaha was kind, polite and very attentive our server. The food ( nachos, salmon dip, bavarian pretzel and lamb burger) was tasty and fresh. This was my groups first visit and we will definitely be back. The entire staff and overall experience was well worth our time. Thank you all!
Place is usually great, but just had a horrible experience. Placed a curbside pickup order. Arrive at the restaurant and I’m calling for 20 minutes to let someone know I was outside. They’re phone line isn’t working; either the call hangs up or I get a busy ring tone. Finally someone comes out and the first thing they ask was did I not hear them on the phone. If you knew I was outside, why would you wait 20 minutes before you came to check on me. And, I don’t get even get any sort of common courtesy. No apology for making me wait; for your phone lines being down; for making me wait an extra 30 minutes for my food; for the miscommunication. Like literally nothing. Just absolutely no common decency here. It was disgusting
I enjoyed the food here and that patio is nice but the service was extremely slow. It took 30+ mins just to get my drink. Not only that, they tried charging us for things we didn’t order. The server brought out fries and said, “oh, the gave you extra fries!” And that happened again with the Brussels sprouts.I wish I could give this place more stars, but I was disappointed.
While the patio is always a lovely choice, I highly recommended hanging out at the bar for dinner, especially if Joey is working! I typically order the same thing whenever I visit but the manager Cassie recommended an amazing special menu item and cocktail for me to try last night. The short ribs were delicious!!! Thanks Cassie for going out of your way to make a regulars night special! From the food to the management, Howells always provides an above average experience.
This place is such a gem. The outdoor seating area is huge and well heated for winter months. The food was delicious, I had the salmon and Colby, our waiter in training, suggested having it blackened with rice - Im so glad he did, it was amaaaazing. Colby did a great job making suggestions and answering all of our questions and made sure we were well taken care of. I will certainly be back, I have to try more
My husband and I probably pay the light bill at this place. At this point I dont even need a menu- Howells Burger medium rare with sweet pototo fries and a Howells Ale. So. freaking.good.every.time....On the off chance I want to be good Ill have the chopped salad and its always so filling with lots of fun toppings like multicolored cherry tomatoes. My husband also says the Philly Cheese is the best hes ever had.
I love Howell’s Kitchen and Bar. I’ve lived in the building above the restaurant for 6 years and since the inception of the restaurant the food has been consistently delicious. I really love the salmon and lobster sauce dish. Tonight was unlike the other times and Ryan and waiter in training Colby gave excellent service. Colby even made a suggestion to elevate the dish that I get all of the time. Will be back in 2 weeks!
AMAZING... The service was the best, the food was top notch. The only issue we had... my husband purchased dessert for the table, it was my b-day and we never got it. Partly our fault, we were having a really nice time that it slipped our minds. However our dessert never made it to the table.
A tucked away gem that does everything right.Everything was spot on for my group lunch today. The service was very attentive and understood that we had people showing up at different times and that we had a hard out time. The food came out quickly and was delicious and most of it was made from scratch. Im very picky about Cobb Salads and hate when restaurants offer their version of a Cobb Salad. I was briefly concerned when it came out because it was plated a tad deconstructed.Howells Kitchen has the best Cobb Salad in Atlanta. Period. It was prepared to order with fresh and high quality ingredients. Our late guest ordered a stir fry dish that looked delicious but had unadvertised Cilantro on it. 10% of people cant stand the taste of Cilantro. She told the waiter that she didnt like the dish because of the Cilantro. He immediately took it away and apologized. Minutes later he returned and said that a fresh dish was on the way and that they would get a complimentary dessert. But we had to go and the waiter and the manager both came over and handed them both dishes in a nice carryout bag and told them that the meal was on them. That is the definition of great service.I plan on eating at Howells Kitchen very often.
Ive really enjoyed this place. Great ambiance. Great food. The burgers are excellent and Im very particular. The best value are the petite filets. Very well prepared, great cut of meat. Ive had steaks in many steakhouses that are upwards of $40 and I think these hold up to many of them. Ive only had room for dessert one time and it was great. The service is good, particularly the bartenders.
So good! We had the chicken nachos and the pub fries and they were amazing. Darrius and Jonathan took great care of us and offered good suggestions off the menu. Kassie came and checked on us and made sure we were enjoying our time and our food. I love Howells kitchen!
Our experience on 2/21/20 was great!! Beautiful establishment!!Bartender (think her name is Lizzy dark brown hair, amazing smile) greeted us with a smile, staff has great customer service!! Bar guest, especially the orthopedic doctor, were very friendly and funny 😁 So there is a hilarious story of the bartender lost and found cellphone. Ask her to tell you about it 😂🤣 Food was delicious 😋 and our drinks were made just right. I was very happy that they serve Italian beer, Peroni. 😊Restrooms were very clean and I love the open kitchen. Everything was so good that we went back on Sunday. Thanks for making our vacation from Florida a pleasant one! We will definitely be back next time were in town. Nick and Angela.
This restaurant had an interesting feel to it. I was shocked at how dark it was inside. I honestly do not like eating in the dark. I can see that they want the ambiance with the candles, but we couldnt even read the menus because it was so dark in there! The ONLY thing they had to light inside were some small candles on the table. We had to pull out our phones and turn the flashlight on in order to see the menus. The food was okay...Nothing fancy or fabulous. I was not so disappointed in the food to say I wouldn’t eat it, but the overall experience was not great. We unfortunately will not go to this establishment again.
We ate here today. We had some hiccups in service because of how busy the restaurant was. However, the food, the drinks and most of all the customer service and care given to us was of the highest caliber. Aileen took care of our party of 7, in the dimly lit private room, and made our Sunday Funday Family Brunch memorable!Thank you,Crystal & The Kids
Awesomeness on a plate! If you have not had a chance to check out Howells Kitchen and Bar, now is the time. The food is fantastic and they have curbside pickup. I highly recommend the Grownup Chicken Tenders tossed in their delicious bbq sauce. You will not regret it!Shout out to Jason who provided fantastic customer service, definitely went above and beyond.
My husband and I have dined at Howell’s 4 times since they opened.FOOD: 5 starsWe have never eaten anything we didn’t like!Howell’s burger, Fish & Chips, Heirloom Pizza, Carbonara, and the Mozarella Sticks are all delicious! The value for the money is excellent. The only thing I would change is the french fries. They are often soggy.SERVICE: 2 starsThe service has greatly improved over the past year, but it is still lacking. On multiple occasions, I have been seated and then had to wait upwards of 15 minutes for a server to come by to get our drink orders. There needs to be more proper training of all service staff.ATMOSPHERE: 5 starsBeautiful restaurant and fun environment! My husband and I love sitting on the patio with our dog when the weather is nice.
The patio layout is cozy , the atmosphere is chill and relaxed scenery. It has spacious outdoor table seating. Great brunch date with the bae , hubby or a lady’s brunch date . I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends . I will be going back there when I visit Atlanta again .
Impeccable service, tasty food, and great atmosphere... what else need I say?Howell Kitchen is still relatively new, and a needed visual and culinary update to an area of Atlanta that was slow to bud. Until it arrived, the only restaurants around worth eating at were Felinis or Flying Biscuit. The outside is beautiful. It is an ode to late 1800s style architecture with painted white brick, accented with metal frame windows that bring in copious amounts of natural light. In inside is accented with clean wood grains on the tables and bar. For those warm sunny days, there is an outdoor patio. I wont ding them too much for not allowing dogs.Dee was an amazing server and really made my experience. What is the point to good food if the service is bad? He was great at making both drink and food suggestions, was extremely nice and attentive, and even suggested some great pairing that I would have never guessed went well together. The food is a mix between upscale bar food and new American. You can get a pizza, wings, or salmon. When you think of bar food you might get turned off to the idea, but it is actually done very well. No overly greasy plates here. Instead of fries try sweet potato fries. There is also a blackened Mahi sandwich listed alongside the burgers. There is are about 10 beers on draft and another 20 canned imported, domestic, and craft beers. They also have around 20 wines to choose by the bottle or glass. If you prefer a cocktail this is where they shine. They have many that I have never heard of, and I went broke doing a cocktail tour of NYC for a week.
Superb! As soon as I walked in the bartender shook my hand and stuck up conversation. The service was attentive and I never had to wait for a refill or my food service. Restaurant management took its rounds and made sure everyone had the best possible experience. The ambiance is fresh and I can see this bar/restaurant being the top destination on Howell Mill in 2018. The beer selection is carefully curated and the food was beyond amazing. Their fried chicken sandwich was fresh, a massive serving, and had tons of rich flavor. If there was a higher rating, I would certainly give it! This is the go-to restaurant in the new year!
Ambiance was nice, super small portions for brunch...food was good but the service was horrible. Our server seemed to be in the weeds, but no managers came to help her. Empty drinks, ungreeted guest next to us, a bottle of champagne delivered with no OJ and I had to pour and open the bottle myself..probably won’t return
Howells has become one of my favorite neighborhood dinner spots. Great burgers, pizzas, salads and appetizers. I had the turkey burger last night with a side salad. Well seasoned, the patty was tender and juicy with lots of cheese, avocado, and shaved cucumber on a shiney brioche bun. Delicious.
Food was good. Service was decent. What killed it for us was the atmosphere. If you are a hip couple with kids that you hate to pay attention to you can come here, let them run wild and completely ignore them while catching up with your friends. Want to let them free roam? The outside deck has fake grass to run and scream and rocks they can throw around. Management needs to get control of it unless this is what they want?
Absolutely in love with the newest addition to our neighborhood. Ive eaten at Howells a few times since they opened and it does not disappoint. So far Ive tried the fried chicken sandwich, heirloom pizza and the beet salad - all were delicious and well priced. The menu offers dishes in any price range, has plenty of healthy options as well as some guiltier options. Tonight I sat at the bar and the bartender, Taylor, was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Im excited to have Howells just outside my apartment complex, and look forward to being somewhat of a regular .
I have been a customer at this establishment for quite some time and absolutely love everything about it. The atmosphere is conducive for both a professional setting and a party setting, even for a night cap by yourself. You can sit outside on the patio next to a burning fire or be seated inside where the breeze from the sliding doors bring in summer vibes. Great tunes from different genres are always in rotation. The food is made with love and is carefully checked over with precision by the manager. The host and waiters are friendly and attentive to guest, all while seeming to really enjoy their jobs and each other. The manager Christian Norton is an exceptional individual. He supervises his team with respect and trust, checks in on customers, actually holding conversations with them, all while still setting tables, sweeping where needed, etc. I would recommend this restaurant for any time of the day, for any event.
I loved visiting pre-covid and still do ;however, the food isn’t as good. A+ on the restaurant over all-nice out door seating and friendly bar staff. Regular waitresses were not as attentive when I visited this past Sunday, 10/18. My favorite food items-Salmon dip (too much mayo on last visit)...ask for extra capers!Brussel sprouts, no bacon- deliciousSalmon meal- typically very flavorful but wasn’t as good as it was pre-covidTurkey burger- so delicious!Nachos- I didn’t have it but friend loved itClub sandwich, no bacon- I didn’t have it but friend loved it
Salmon dip appetizer was delicious. Also ordered a chesse pizza with serving of broccoli and fish and chips. Lots of food. The fish batter was well seasoned abd French fries were tasty as well. Manager came by asking if we were enjoying our meal.Waiter wS was very personable and attentive without being over bearings.Nice seating, inside and outside seating available
Visited on a business team lunch. Overall, nice interior, friendly staff, and good food. Strong selection of sandwiches, pizzas, and entrees. Food appeared and tasted fresh. Plates looked good on arrival and hearty portions. Industrial feel inside so could get a little noisy but good look. The one thing that detracted from the visit was parking. Situation was a bit confusing. Non-issue if you live within walking distance but driving in requires a little work on your part. Wouldnt mind going back if in the area.
Located in the upscale Collier Hills neighborhood, Howells Kitchen serves great food from an eclectic menu that includes their house burger, which is something you really should try. Its a cross between a burger and a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich topped with carmalized onions and a unique pickled chili and jalapeño aioli that is truly delicious. Be sure to order extra house-brined pickles to put on your burger because they are unique and a special treat. Howells pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired grill and the crusts are perfect. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the ambiance inside is both relaxing and inviting. The booth backs are super tall and act as natural barriers to Covid while offering privacy and a cozy feel to your intimate meal. They are equipped with ample takeout containers and they do a huge takeout business from what I witnessed while dining in. There is a large patio with fire pit outside for those who want to dine al fresco. They also have a small banquet room in the back. Ample parking is available in the adjacent lot or the lower levels of the building next door.
I have eaten at this restaurant a handful of times. I was never disappointed with the service or the food. I like the restaurant decor (its booths have an intimate vibe that is probably great for dates). The servers are very attentive to customers’ needs, regardless of time (my friends and I have gone there late in the evenings). I especially like the valet service - adds a nice touch.
Howell’s is a great addition to the neighborhood. The grilled teriyaki salmon is wonderful and my son thinks the pizza is great. We have been twice since they opened and thus far very pleased. We look forward to the weather warming up a little so we can enjoy the outdoor space for an appetizer and a cocktail.
Food was okay. It took so long for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive, that we were starving and dove right in! (therefore no pictures)While he was really nice in person, we barely got to see our server.Parking was a nightmare, but thankfully, it was a Sunday, and there was the post office’s parking next door.
We dropped by for drinks and appetizers. Loved the rustic feel of the interior and overall vibe of the restaurant. We ordered the brussels sprouts and our friend order the shrimp app. Everything came out fast and the flavors were fresh and delicious. Would love to come back for dinner soon!
The food and atmosphere was great but this is not a late night spot. They close their kitchen very early, and switch to pizza only, and the servers are focused on getting out the door. I wish they were friendlier to their guests and posted online about closing kitchen early.
This place is very aesthetic. we came in during a less busy time. so when we first walked in the host wasn’t at its host stand. ronald was our server and he was great!! very funny and attentive. he also gave us great recommendations. my only complaint was food took really long. like i said it was not busy. i food was good though so i didn’t really mind the wait. definitely recommend the cheese sticks!! so yummy but sadly one of my sticks busted so it was hollow inside. but we just shrug that off.
Howells Kitchen & Bar is a solid 4/5. Ive been 3 times since theyre opening. I enjoy the pizza options (go for the going coastal)! The fried chicken sandwich was delightful and the smoked brisket philly was amazing. They didnt quite get that 5 star rating because there service has been a hit or miss and the inside lacks sound control. My most recent visit; we had attentive service. My first visit; we had terrible service and had to flag a different waiter down for our check.
We went there as a group of 5 on a Saturday night (tonight) the whole experience started with a bad attitude from the hostess when we called to update our reservation about 5 hours before our planned arrival due to some people dropping out, she acted as if she had no idea they even took reservations and got an attitude with us. Upon arrival we were directed to our table, the drink orders came out pretty quick...then we placed our food orders and the wait started...about 45 min later we asked if everything was ok with our food and were told the chicken skillet took a long time to cook (16 min) and was currently at the 8 min mark. Everyone else in the group ordered sandwiches and chicken nachos, yet no food had been brought to our table. After the long wait and unapologetic attitude from the manager, our food came, was ok, but not worth the hour plus wait. The waiter had a great sense of humor and did the best he could.
Went today around 4pm..Love the location and the atmosphere..drinks were good..fries were cold..sent them back and the second batch was better but a mixture of hot and lukewarm fries..they had a good taste to them though..shrimp in my salad was good but not hot..may go back to give another chance..can be a great spot
Been here several times and always have a pleasant experience. Yeah, the parking is hit or miss, but its Atlanta, you might have to park somewhere else and actually walk a few feet. Love the atmosphere and modern industrial vibe. Cant wait to try out the bocce court this summer. Fungi is my favorite pizza. Definitely an enhancement to that part of Howell Mill, hope they keep it up!
Ive been working at this spot for 3mths. I absolutely love the environment! The owners did a great job of creating a chilled, cozy, yet warm, and also inviting place for Couples, families, and business meetings! Its just right!. The neighborhood regulars are very nice and they love our food, set up and service. I have high hopes for this establishment in the near future. I believe this spring is gonna be popping !!! Our patio is everything with the two firepits staged conveniently near the seating areas.. Im legit happy to work here with great coworkers, a management staff that supports innovative ideas and awesome performance, and owners that have vision! Come...let us woo you!!!
I recently planned my wifes surprise 30th birthday with a large group at Howells. From the outset, Howells was incredibly accommodating in letting us make a reservation for 20+, setting up tables, allowing for us to bring in cake/balloons/etc. The night of the dinner, the entire wait staff went out of their way to provide a remarkable experience and provided a level of service unmatched by most restaurants in Atlanta. The food, drinks and atmosphere have always been great, but the service blew us away. I highly recommend this restaurant and their incredible team!
Likely the worst brunch around. Ended up here bc of the wait at nearby Cultivate. Pretty certain my sausage was microwaved & the biscuits could have easily come straight from a pillsbury can. The chilaquiles rancheros were completely soggy nachos. Almost inedible. Coffee & service were the only positives. We will most certainly not be back.
We came in on opening weekend and the food was amazing. The smoked mozzarella sticks are as good as they get with their from scratch sauce. The heirloom pizza and going coastal pizza are so good. Going coastal has shrimp and avocado and a sauce that is rich and tasty. If you like dessert, try the smores. You cant go wrong. I cant wait to make it back that way and try more.
This place was the BESSSSTT. I’ve been in Atlanta for a little while and have had been to several restaurants. Howell’s was def one we will keep on our “favorites list”. Loved the bar scene but was able to sit at a table that was more secluded. The outside patio was beautiful. We didn’t sit outside but would be perfect for a cooler afternoon. The food was great, too. I’m picky when it comes to bloody Mary’s but I was very impressed 😊 our waiter Brian S was great! Really quick, friendly, and just gave a cool relaxed vib. LONG STORY SHORT, visit howells ask for Brian 👌🏽
Food was excellent, waiter was amazing. Only disappointment was they open the doors when it was 95 degrees because one table requested it when they had open sitting on the patio and instead of the manager coming and talking to us she told the waiter to tell us us she would turn the air up... Didnt help.
My wife and I went for our favorite dish this evening, the SKILLET ROASTED CHICKEN ... To our surprise, the portion of chicken served was dramatically reduced as well as the mashed potatoes... The broccoli spears were HUGE though... Why I have no idea...Prior to COVID-19, we ate this dish quite often at a cost of $16 with a much larger and juicier cut of chicken... Now the price for the dish has INCREASED by $4.00 to $20.00!! For a smaller, drier piece of chicken, little side of mash potatoes and huge broccoli sticks that no one wants!! WTH... We wont be back to eat that dish again... We were loyal customwrs to it and Howell Mill Kitchen as we drove from Sandy Springs on date nights to enjoy it...We will find another different venue for date night going forward...
This place is a zoo.Gnats flying over the bar before I left. Second and last time for me. It took well over 30 minutes for a burger order. Server, hostess and bartender involved in open conflict. Ongoing hostility between the bartender and the hostess, same bartender and server. Server tasted someone’s drink. That was gross. Calamari was just ok and very small portion. no taste. Lamb burger was same no flavor. The sweet potatoes fries were soft. I won’t visit again.
Food was good, especially apps. But service was poor. Waited 15-20 minutes on two occasions for drinks while we could see the bartenders joking around with the wait staff. Everything took way longer than expected. Well try again another time to see if service improves before taking it off our list.
Very good food. Everything on the menu Ive tried has been delicious. Ill highlight the vegan plant-based Burger because there arent many places around Atlanta that serve it. Heres the actual menu listing:BEYOND BURGER | 15plant based patty, robannaise, lettuce, tomato, onion, house brined pickles, brioche bunHighly recommended love the food and the drinks. Shockingly the beyond Burger was actually delicious. Atmosphere is relaxed and upscale.
This is the second time I dined here. The first time was slow and i thought that this was a one time thing. Today my wife and me went and dinner took one hour fifty minutes, food was bland and creme brule was like soup. Servers were great and menu is great. I will wait a while before coming back.

2022-05-13Very beautiful environment! Loved the pizzas! Very fresh! I liked the Brussels, asked for no bacon but I’m pretty sure they still had some in there. The sweet tea was delicious! Very affordable pizza

2021-08-31Great Service, good food and nice atmosphere. We had the Korean beef spring rolls and the mozzarella sticks as starters. The mozzarella has a slight smoke flavor which is different but its good. The hit of our meal was the bread pudding with the salted caramel ice cream.... Delicious 😋😋 The patio is huge so, I will have to go back when it isnt raining. Also our server Ronald was very attentive and gave great suggestions.

2022-06-07A good dinner outside on the patio with Bogie. Howell’s very large patio & outside seating is dog friendly. It was a busy night outside and after the rain they were a little short staffed. So a slow start which they made up with great food and service. Tom enjoyed the Ancient Grain Chicken Bowl, bok choy, snap peas, carrots, red bell peppers, mushrooms, broccolini, cantonese sauce, brown rice, farro, quinoa for $17. I really enjoyed the freshness of the Arugula and goat cheese salad, roasted beets, spring lettuce, strawberry, red onions, spicy cashews, radish, citrus vinaigrette – $13. We started with the Smoked Mozzarella Sticks, cold smoked, hand breaded, pomodoro sauce $9. Finished dinner with a beautiful sunset and a glass of La Crema, which were complimentary, thank you. Definitely will return. If this review is helpful pls like.

2021-06-21We were very happy with our experience at Howell’s Kitchen. The drinks were very good. Our server was great at suggesting drinks and food for us to try, since it was our first time there. The pizza was so delicious. I saw several to go order with just pizza boxes. The one I pictured is the small one! The portions are big and you will be so full! I couldn’t finish my burger.

2022-03-02Totally love this spot! I crave outdoor seating and this place pleased. We sat outside next to a fire pit. Service and food were great. Lemon drop was good but not a strong pour. The hand tossed wood grilled pizza was excellent and so was the chicken sandwich. Will definitely return. Customer base appeared to be professionals from the area. Id recommend a smart casual attire during weekday lunches to better blend.

2022-03-28***Food was “OK”. Nothing to write home about, Dennys French toast is just as good.Service, terrible. My Debit card was LOST by the server. Yep, LOST! After her being MIA for 20 min the server came back to inform me “she can’t find my card”. I was in town from 3 hours away for a dance competition for my daughter and we took a break to enjoy a brick between events. No explanation, just that it was missing and abs had looked everywhere. Immediately checked my bank and saw that the meal charge was indeed on there. So she was able to run the card, then I guess walk away and “misplace” the card. That’s really unacceptable service, we trust these servers to take our cards and appropriately keep up with them. Yes accidents happen but an accident involving customersCards is just not an option. If a busy bar can hold on and keep up with tons & tons of cards, then there is no reason a restaurant that advertises themselves as an upscale establishment shouldn’t be able to train staff to appropriately keep up with customer cards. Out of town, only had phone and debit card on me, thought to use Apple Pay but it’s linked to the debit card that was lost! The venue we were at was 35 minutes away so after waiting for her to look we had to leave, a curt manager finally stopped by and apologized. Did not offer to comp meal or anything of the sort, which I guess without the card w couldn’t have anyway. Extremely disappointed how the situation was treated, and how we were treated as we sat there for over 30 min with no updates until I got up and asked, at this point we needed to leave so my daughter would not be late. About an hour later I received a call (I left my number) and was told it was found. At this point we were over 40 min away, I was at an event with my 8yo that I couldn’t not just leave. I told them to destroy it and we answered with “ok. Sorry”.Anyway- as I said food was ok, not great, but the entire card incident was deplorable and how it was handled by management left a lot to be desired!

2021-06-27We enjoy Howells we come often. My fave cocktail is the Blueberry whiskey smash of some sort hahaha cant remember the name. I have had the Cobb salad, pretzel, burger, pizzas all very tasty. A great place to have a bite. Outdoor area is large and have covered and open areas. The wings are pretty awesome also!
