Been here 3 times since moving to the area and have been very impressed each time. Food is always super tasty and drinks are delicious. They have fun events (karaoke, stand-up, line dancing, etc.) frequently and the owners are always present and checking in on patrons. Will definitely be back soon!
I highly recommend International Grill and Bar. The owner, Mohsen, was so attentive and hospitable. I couldn’t see his smile behind his mask, but he exuded joy and friendliness. My husband and I ordered the family meal special, so that we could try all of the different meats. It was all delicious, but my favorites were the lamb and chicken. The lamb was super tender, and the chicken had amazing seasonings. For dessert, we enjoyed baklava with a side of hot Persian tea. It paired perfectly. My husband and I decided we’d need to go back regularly to enjoy the baklava and tea at the very least. I will definitely be back.
We have dined here several times. The service is always great, and the food is wonderful. This is a local restaurant and the owner is almost always there, working hard to make sure you have a good experience. The dolmas (rolled grape leaves with rice) are extremely good as an appetizer. And we often get the cucumber dip as well. I think theres a small charge for the extra pieces of toasted pita, but its worth it.For entrees, the lamb is certainly a specialty. They sometimes have lamb shank and recently had rack of lamb. But the lamb kebabs are also very good. They will usually ask you if you want some kind of berries in the rice. Go for it! It has a little bit of flavor and tartness that compliments the rest of the food.We attended one night with live music from the Rick Fowler band. That was great! I think it was a Thursday night but you might want to check. There is an outside dining area, and plenty of room inside.Plenty of parking behind the building. And the entrance is actually on the back side of the building, away from Mitchell bridge.Signage is limited but its a big blue building. Kind of hard to miss. I think arbor salon is in the next building.
Outstanding. Great selection dishes. Look forward to coming back just to explore more of the menu. We had great service even though the owner was doing it all. He was hostess, waiter, and Bartender. Heck he may even had been cooking. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. The restaurant itself looks like some abandonded office building from Bladrunner but the inside is nice and the wood curved bar itself is worth the visit. Be sure to try the Baklava Cheesecake for dessert. It is the best ever.
Below average quality of food, Michelin star prices! Unfortunately I invited my US friends to show them our hospitality and culture, but it was a very wrong move! I recommend never take this risk 😐 Rice portion was so small that even the American friends were shocked about😮, kebabs below average comparing Mediterranean grill or other restaurants, but prices higher , chicken skewers rarely cooked and I don’t want to continue how terrible was my experience, sorry to say that, but the reason I share it, is the public awareness! Because the community is trying for make a fake support which leads to this disaster!
The food is fantastic, portions are generous, and the greeting and service are warm and friendly. Im determined to try the whole menu, but I highly recommend the ghormeh sabzi (a delicious Persian stew featuring lamb, kidney beans, finely chopped herbs and greens and served with basmati rice) and saffron ice cream (trust me).
IGB is delicious. I always find the food perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The chicken is juicy and the lamb is flavorful. And of course the saffron rice! The portion are large enough I always have left overs.I usually add an appetizer of something I’ve never had to my order because I know it’s going to be delicious. So far I think the Saffron Rice with Ghormeh Sabzi has been my favorite thing I’ve never had before. Also, their vegetarian lasagna might be one of the best vegetarian lasagnas I’ve had.
Absolutely wonderful! We got to try the buffet tonight (its on Wednesdays!!!) And it was totally worth it. It gave us a chance to try this place and we will definitely be back for more :) excellent customer service, and Moh was super nice to tell us more information on some of the dishes they had. The Persian eggplant dish is worth trying - I normally hate eggplant and I loved this ;)
A wonderful place to eat in Athens! I ordered the lamb burger and the persian eggplant pizza. Both were delicious! The Lamb burger was legitimately the best lamb burger ive ever had. It was seasoned and cooked well, and very juicy. The eggplant pizza is a great vegetarian option, its tasty. it doesnt taste like eggplant...but like a really hearty veggie pizza. The cheese is yummy. Mo, who took my call in order was very pleasant and my food was ready very quickly. He really seems to love what he does and he even said his goal is to make sure every customer leaves happy. DEFINITLEY will be a regular. If youre thinking about it, go for it, these are the types of places that need our patronage.
We wanted to try something new today so we decided to try out International Grill and Bar. This restaurant has only been open for a few months. Three of us ordered the Bakhtiari Kabob and my fiance ordered the Stuffed Koobideh Burger. The Bakhtiari Kabob was delicious. I loved the pairing flavors of the peppers and rice. The steak was really tender and reminded me of lamb or prime rib. The chicken also had lots of nice flavor with a slight lemon zest. The fries were also really good and we took a fresh order to go. We were hoping to try the Lamb Shank, but unfortunately it was not ready when we came in. I believe we came in around one. There were only a few people in the restaurant then, so Im not sure when peak hours would be. If you want the Lamb, the best time to come in would be around four I think? Over all the food was good and it was a good first impression.
Today we tried this place for the first time. from food to ambiance and service, everything was perfect. we tried lamb koobideh kabob with saffron rice and it was delicious. the aroma, presentation and taste was soo good. MO was very welcoming and helped us select our food. thes best part was their baklava. I have tried baklava wherever it is available and man!!! this has no comparison. upon asking he told us they make it using local honey so good for allergies too. this place comes highly recommended from me. authentic food n great service. will definitely visit again.
Delicious and very COVID safe. They have an excellent patio / outdoor dining space and menu options to either scan your QR or use a printed copy. Service is FAST and friendly. I had the Persian Eggplant Dish and it was incredible.Easy to find, ample parking, COVID safe and most of all, delicious. Highly recommend!
Im usually hesitant to go to Persian restaurants because of the lack of authenticity, but this place didnt disappoint me. I can confirm that the four dishes I tried were reasonably authentic and delicious. I specially liked Koobide which was juicy and soft. Theyre also mindful of health measures and open during pandemic.
Food felt homemade, people were extremely friendly. A ton of artsy design stuff as well❤️❤️❤️Update:Covid-time they doing great with physical distancing, they all wear masks, and are very generous with portions and other offers! They have indoor and outdoor seating, hand sanitizers on all tables, and new things to try every time we eat there!Suggestions:Try : lamb kubideh kabob! Lamb Shank(weekends) and Lamb kabob! You are going to love them all!
Everything here is truly excellent, especially the chicken kabob wrap and lamb shank. Owner Mo is affable and attentive. He does it all! My favorite bartender Alyssa mixes a great Paloma to go with some tasty 80s soundtracks. Design of the main room is circular and open, giving the place a really cool contemporary art feel. Can’t say enough about this special place. Just go.
One the best veggie burgers I have ever had.Made with their own recipe and rich in cumin.A great selection of foods from the middle east, with several eggplant dishes (not my favorite).A bit pricey but very good foods. They deserve your support so they can stay in business during these difficult times.Oh, good baklava too.
I came here once and the aromatic flavors and welcoming owners got my attention. From the vegetable lasagna to the soups you will be delighted. Their food packs a high that I haven’t had since I left Orlando. I am grateful to find Persian food in this small town!Very clean place!! Friendly service, and incredibly fresh food. One of Athen’s best restaurants!!!
100% will be coming back as soon as possible. The food was top notch and the service was super friendly and on point. The stuffed burger was so good my daughter finished it which is very rare for her. In her words It is absolutely amazing. I had the IGB Mix Kabob and was blown away by how delicious it was from start to finish. Same with the stuffed mushrooms they were packed with flavor. Lastly the baklava was so wonderfully good.
My husband surprised me with a date night this weekend at IGB. Mohsen is great and so was our server. Loved the hummus and steak and chicken kabobs. They were very flavorful and well-portioned! We even had leftovers. The live music on the patio was also a plus. We will definitely be returning to try other dishes.
This is a must go place if you are looking for something different and unique!!! I had the chicken kebob and it was the right amount and great taste!! ‘Mo’ our server was extremely kind and generous!! The drinks are great too! Peach-tini is a must get drink!! Definitely coming back
I cant believe I didnt know about this place until today. The food was excellent. We had the three-appetizer sampler and shared a Persian eggplant pizza. It was all delicious with good-sized portions. The baklava for dessert was indulgent. Food prices quite reasonable. Also, they have a good setup for pandemic-savvy customers, including outdoor seating (and live music at times). I will be back, and regularly. EDIT: Ive been back, and have not been disappointed! Warm and personal customer service. Awesome for vegetarians.
We came here for the first time tonight as a family and we really had a great experience. Ill be honest and say that I wasnt expecting much since this location has a history of failure. The slow-roasted lamb shank was definitely best that I have ever had. The hummus was very fresh and we had a smoked eggplant dip that was very unique and tasty. I would highly recommend trying this place out. Its the best food of its type in the Athens area hands down.
I came in with an open mind and wanted this to be a great experience. The service was good, but the food was rough. Persian sausage appetizer tasted like cat food. My wife had a simple fries appetizer served poutine style with cheap cheese and no flavor. My wife’s Margarita was made by server and not worth $9. Pizzas were average at best. I tried a fizzy Persian yogurt Iranian beverage that was undrinkable - it tasted like you had a mouth full of toothpaste and spit it into a cup. I heard the GM gives free appetizers for 5 star reviews. I’m not going back, so no temptation to bite on that offer.
YOU. MUST. GO. HERE. The food was excellent!!! I loved the Kebabs. I loved the Rice. I loved the pita. The service was also great excellent. We met one of the owners, and he was probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He was wearing a mask, but you could still see the smile through it as he explained the food to us. WOW! Oh, and the Baklava is a must! I will be coming back soon!
Wonderful experience last night at the International Grill and Bar on Mitchell Bridge road in Athens GA. My lamb kebab was cooked to perfection with delicious rosemary and other herbs. My wife and I enjoyed the Turkish eggplant appetizer as well. The bar is well stocked, including with her favorite beer, Harpoon. Musical guests **Rocket Racer** made the evening even more special, playing an array of surf tunes that included the Batman theme. Airy, outdoor dining was about as carefree as you can get in a pandemic. Well be back soon!
First time diner, I had read the reviews and wanted to try this place. We were met by Mo when we got there, he walked us through the menu to get us started. Soon he came back to our table with 2 small glasses of Doogh a traditional Persian drink, and it was delicious! Our order came out quickly, we had the 4 skewer plate and Mirza-Ghasemi. The meats were cooked perfectly, seasoned just right. All together, a great experience!
Great great restaurant! The owner, Mo, is so kind and welcoming and shows true Persian hospitality to everyone that comes in to eat there. The food is DELICIOUS!! I always order a ton and enjoy the leftovers. So thankful there is a great Persian restaurant in Athens 😊also they follow COVID guidelines correctly with masks and gloves, and they have a wonderful patio that allows for safe, outdoor dining.
It may look like a simple restaurant/bar but, International Grill and Bar is so different! My wife and I immediately greeted by the staff and incredible aroma of Persian Foods which is really healthy and rich. They have a menu with different choices with a very reasonable price. Our order prepared very quick, the flavors and appearance of food design was amazing.Traditional Persian tea and also Persian saffron ice cream for desert was perfect. We would go there again and again.
Great Persian food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices! Everything I’ve had here has been delicious, and I think the menu has something for everyone. Kebabs, pizzas, and the stuffed koobideh burger were all great. My recent takeout order even included a free dessert. The food is just as good as some of the Persian restaurants I’ve been to in Atlanta which were easily twice as expensive.
This was an unexpected gem! My husband literally saw a billboard and we decided to try it.. oh..my..god... its soooo good. If you like ethnic food mainly Turkish and Persian then you will love this place. Vivian our waitress was amazing at giving us recommendations and the prices were very reasonable for fresh home made quality food. This will definitely be one of our regular places.
Overall, its one of the best International Grills Ive been to. The service by Megan(?) Was pretty great. We was greeted greatly. We ordered appetizers which came out pretty quick; the beef sausage and stuffed mushrooms were pretty tasty. Definitely ordering them again. Our main course meals were Chicken Wings Kabob and Koobideh Burger which both were wonderful. The chicken wings were flamed to perfection and the burger was wonderful also.
The Persian eggplant and lamb kabobs are delicious. This is the second time we have eaten at this restaurant. We tried it during their “soft opening” and the food was pretty good but service and the owner made us want to come back. Very nice! The second time around did not disappoint. We “reserved” a lamb shank; while the meat “fell off” the bone, the serving portion was small. The owner gave us a “to go” serving of the eggplant since we loved it soooo much. He was a gem. Also, the appetizer cauliflower and it’s dipping sauce is to die for! We will be back - wanna try the Turkish pizza. Have heard good things.
Had takeout recently for a Covid-style date night. Great flavors, everything was really fresh, and the value was great. We ended up with tons of wonderful food for not a lot of $$$. I highly recommend the sausage appetizer, and you have to get baklava. It was somehow rich and light at the same time.
Interesting place. This spot has seen a few restaurants come and go. Hopefully this one will fair better.I visited for lunch today and just split a couple of appetizers. We had the Fried Mushroom 🍄 and Cauliflower, as well as, the gourmet fries. I can not complain. The service was good, food was fast enough and taste great as well. I will need to come back for dinner and add to this review. So far though I am. Glad I found another spot for lunch.
5 stars Are not enough!!! The best Persian food you can get. Fantastic atmosphere with great staff. The owners are very philanthropic. Everything is done right especially during these COVID trouble times. Eat there once and you will have it on your must return list!!!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Athens so far. Great selection of appetizers and entrees to keep you coming back. Very relaxing atmosphere catering to multiple occasions. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Definitely making this place one of my regular spots!
Ordered delivery tonight and was not disappointed. In fact, it seems like their food gets better and better every time I eat it if that’s possible. Flavors were immaculate, food hot, and I always appreciate that they give me a free appetizer or dessert. Love this restaurant, they have such good food and even better hearts. IGB was the first restaurant in athens taking covid precautions, and I appreciate them so much. I hope they last a very long time.
Athens is such a dismal city food-wise, and there are only a handful of restaurants I bother going to. This one is number one! Youre missing out if you havent been! Its a little expensive but totally worth it, just share a bunch of takeout with some friends or sit in the huge open air outdoor seating. Cannot recommend enough! Get the Persian eggplant!
This place is fantastic! Atmosphere is great and the staff is really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Every bite was delicious and for their prices it’s 100% worth it! Will definitely be going again.
We stopped for a late lunch on our way through Athens. The food was delicious. Dont miss the Turkish eggplant pizza. The service was attentive but not over the top. If you enjoy Persian food or want to try something different and delicious, check out International Grill and Bar.
Enjoyed a great lunch at IGB last week. I had pizza; my friend had lamb and beef kabobs and potato soup. Food was delicious and service was great. It is in an out-of-the-way location, so I hope reviews and word-of-mouth will help build the clientele. Try it out—you will be glad you did. Carol B.
Saw some recommendations on a neighborhood listserv and decided to try them. Iranian food and very good. Highly recommended! We had the eggplant and the Bakhtiari Kabob. Kitchen originally made the wrong eggplant, but it was caught before it was even served. Left both plates so I could try them. Peruvian eggplant was my preference. Chicken and steak were very good-great flavor. Staff and owner (Mo) very willing to make sure you had a great experience-even received an education on Iranian food. Will definitely go back.
Delicious! Delightful! Such friendly staff! I’m happy that there’s a restaurant if this type in Athens! They have a separate “Family Room” which is great although I felt a bit like I was being punished for bringing kids at first because we were led to a separate room 😂 The only thing I would suggest is to move the tables so they all line the wall and maybe play some music in there for the parents. Will be back again!
The International Grill and Bar greets you with a warm and friendly atmosphere, which seems both casual and appropriate for more special occasions like a birthday or an anniversary. We started our dinner with the two drink specials: a winter spiced old fashion and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. Each drink was exceptional, offering a fresh spin on a classic drink. The dolmas were fantastic and a great start to the meal. For entrees, I had the Persian meat stew and my partner had the stuffed burger. The meat stew was unique in the best way. It had a pleasant earthy taste, packed with herbs and spices. The meat was tender and the stew paired wonderfully with the rice. The portion of stew was large, giving me some to take home for later. My partner enjoyed his burger. He said the parsley in the patty offset the heaviness of the cheese stuffed in the center. He also used the sumac spice (which accompanies the salt and pepper on every table) on his french fries. I highly recommend trying the sumac. As a part of a promotion, my partner’s beer came with a free four piece order of chicken wings. These wings had a wonderful flavor and because they are grilled on a kabob, you can taste the grill/smoke in every bite.We visited for an early dinner which gave us the opportunity to chat with the owner, Mo, and the chef. They were both very nice and gracious to hear about our good experience. When Mo found out we were there for my birthday he offered me a free piece of baklava.
First visit, very happy. I will return.I had the Bakhtiari Kabob, very good; my son had the Stuffed Kobideh Burger, also very good; the two others had the the IGB Pizza with rave reviews. One enters from the parking lot, behind the building from Mitchell Bridge Road, the building on the left from the parking lot.Been back many times, always good!Years later... still good, very happy.
I had been curious about this place after reading reviews (all favorable, which can be a little suspicious) but I now know WHY... everything was really good - from dolmas and salad to chicken kebabs, to veggie bake (my favorite, and what I will get next time!) Service delivery of food was initially delayed, but when we found it was because the veggie bake needed to be cooked fresh that was fine with me! We will be going back, which says something.
After seeing a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews here, I’m disappointed that we didn’t receive the same experience. In addition to our table, there was another booth and a couple at the the bar. It took 20mins to get our appetizers. They forgot my entree and asked me what I had ordered again. How can a restaurant not keep up with 3 orders? The kabab ended up being lukewarm and dry. It had obviously been sitting back there for a while. To be fair, it wasn’t bad. I just wish I had received it fresh. Especially with the 16 dollar price tag, +2 more for a side salad. I didn’t even realize they also forgot to bring my side salad until we got the checks. I was refunded for the salad thankfully. The decor and music were nice. It has a huge bar with a large beer, wine, and liquor selection. The bartender was inviting and conversational. I could see myself getting a drink here sometime. Here’s hoping that the dining experience will be a bit better.
This place is amazing. I had been waiting for a restaurant like this close to my home for a decade. I have been there several time and I have been so impressed. Food is authentic and delicious. You have got to try the lamb shank with green rice, stuffed koobideh burger and eggplant pizza. You wont be disappointed.
Very comfortable space with attentive service. The food was five star as indicated...lamb kabobs, chicken kabobs and a fabulous stew with basmati rice that was perfect. Mushroom and cauliflower appetisers that were scrumptious. I am comforted and now ready to rest for the evening. Go, you wont regret it.
My friend and I stumbled on this gem while looking for something out of the ordinary. We definitely weren’t disappointed! We went on adventure with our tastebuds and our host / owner of the place Mo made sure nothing was nothing less than spectacular. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Food is great and they are taking preventative measures regarding COVID19. Customers and staff are wearing masks. Seating is physically distanced from one another. Hand sanitizer is provided on each table. Thank you for looking out for your staff, customers, and the Athens community!
Really good service my wife and I enjoyed the food and the service there. The waitress was polite and offered more than you can bargain for..really nice people and place .The ambiance is mellow cool breeze clean contemplative relative and what a outing needs to be .thank you !!!see you soon !!!
If you haven’t been to the International Grill on Mitchell Bridge Road, you are missing out. It’s Athens only Persian restaurant. The food is awesome and the owner is very friendly and nice, in fact all the staff is friendly and the service is great. Go check it out! You won’t be disappointed. 😋

2022-02-20Food is REALLY good here. We’re extremely picky & the menu is pretty in depth so we asked for assistance with suggestions. They gladly made really good recommendations based on things we like. Our entree was great & drinks were good too. We felt that is was quality food at a good value. We especially love the karaoke nights and look forward to checking out a night that they have stand up comedy as well.

2021-12-17I just moved to Athens and saw this place on my street. I meant to go in but didnt until I had to go in here for an Uber eats order. It smelled so amazing and so I said Id go back. Tonight I did and the food was amazing!! It was all homemade which I havent had since I lived in Germany years ago and had a Persian friend make authentic dishes for me. The owner and bartenders were very sweet and welcoming too. Try the peachtini too - so delicious.

2022-03-08Delicious!The food here was excellent. I ordered the Persian pizza, Persian sausage and baklava for dessert. I could tell the dough for the pizza was freshly made and despite it being a vegetarian pizza it was very tasty. Both me and my friend loved the sausage it kind of reminded me of a meatball marinara in taste. Still my favorite thing was the baklava I have never had one that full of flavor in fact we were almost fighting over it, our dessert was that good. I will definitely be trying other things on the menu and be a returning customer in the future.

2021-12-27The food is incredible, this place is a real gem in Athens. The family that runs it are wonderful people. Sometimes we dine there, with the kids it’s great without the kids it’s also great. When we have to feed a group we love to get the family platters and a bunch of salads for carry out. For Christmas we called and arranged to have the sides done ahead of time and warmed up at home. The veggie bake was unbelievable, humble carrots were transformed into something everyone raved about and wanted the recipe for. For holidays this place is our go-to to feed a crowd and make our own meals easier. I can’t say enough how much I enjoy the wonderful flavors here! You really can’t go wrong with their menu, it’s so good they’ll keep you coming back.

2021-09-18I absolutely loved this place.. i Love Persian food and here ,the food was exquisitly prepared, the lamb was super juicy and the presentation was superb. The decor is very well done and a mix of modern and traditional. They have a rooftop and outdoor seating areas as well as live music. I had the stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer, the igb mixed kabob plate, and a house salad. The stuffed mushrooms were large, juicy, cooked just to the right level of al dente , and PACKED with flavor. The house salad was just that an ACTUAL salad.. no paltry bowl of wilted iceburg lettuce with a lonely grape tomato here! I mean LOOK at this thing.. with all this they also have a FULL bar... you cant go wrong. If you havent tried the International Bar and grill you really NEED to!!!!

2021-09-17A wonderful place to eat Persian food in Athens. We’ve tried all the Kabob plates, and they are all delicious. The owners are nice and friendly. We are glad that we ordered our wedding reception dinner from IGB. There was more than enough food, and the quality and taste were great. We ordered Koobideh Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Persian Eggplant and Turkish Eggplant, and all were good. The food was ready by the time we asked them.

2022-04-10Great food, great service, very laid back environment. We had a little trouble finding it due to a lack of signage, but note: The building is a bright blue and when you see it you will know as it stands out very well. I had the lamb burger and it was excellent, good fries too that have the potato skins still on them. It was not crowded at all on a Saturday night and we did not need reservations.
