What a wonderful hidden treasure for these lucky campers! Josh Powell Camp is the perfect mix of adventure and old fashioned outdoor fun. My camper came home excited about canoeing, meeting new friends, archery, fort building, fun counselors, and so much more. This was our first year attending and we can’t wait to be back for more next year!!! 🏕 🛶 🎯
My newly 6 year old son had a BLAST at Josh Powell this summer! The activity options included things that are different from most other camps and I loved that they were given free time everyday to spend more time doing an activity they really enjoyed. From a parent perspective, the logistics were a piece of cake. We can’t wait to go back next summer and will probably do multiple weeks!
My son absolutely LOVED his week at Camp Josh Powell. He sometimes struggles in social situations and doesnt always have the best camp experience so him having a good day every single day was a huge deal. So grateful for a fun summer camp experience for him! Great memories made!!
I highly recommend JP camp if you want your kids to have outdoor fun. My daughter is 8 and She had a blast at the camp and already asked to go again next year. Staffs there are very attentive to every kids and ensure their safety. It was absolutely an amazing experience for my daughter.
My son (7 years old) loved going to Josh Powell this summer! The bus is so convenient and gives us an opportunity to go to a location that we otherwise wouldnt be able to get to for a day camp. My son loved the team building activities, the freedom to pick activities during free period, and the sweet counselors!
First summer camp for my 10 year old and she loved it! Weve signed up for another week this summer. My daughter loved archery, canoeing, the paddleboat, art and the pool. All the staff are friendly and helpful - learned my daughters name by the second day. My daughter is going to try an overnight camp this summer because she had such a great time at this camp. Highly Recommend!!
This was my sons 1st time at camp and he loved it. The activities and adventures that they take are awesome. I was hoping he would like it, as it was his 1st going and the activities were different; however, Archery and Canoeing were top of the list! Definitely signing up for next year!
The Josh Powell summer camp was recommended by a friend who lives in nearby Acworth. The activities and the environment were an immediate appeal to me for my son (7yrs). I live in the East Atlanta neighborhood so driving to Acworth everyday was not really an option but they have a bus schedule for in town pickups!Everyday at drop off my son was super excited and hopped out of the car and right onto the bus. Everyday I picked him up he had stories to tell. Archery, swimming, canoeing, all things that any kid would like to try!The staff had great interactions with the kids, Ms. Macaroni was discussed on the car rides home regularly.Long story point! Highly recommend.
My 6 year old had a blast at JP this year being his first! He came home dirty everyday which is only a further testament that the kids are doing outside activities all day and having a blast while doing so. He raved about all the activities he could participate in, gaga ball and pool time being his definite favorites. When the bus was running late one afternoon, parents received live updates which was a bit of a relief. We will definitely be returning to JP next year!
I went to this camp when I was younger and was so thrilled to send my son there this summer. He loved every minute of it - you could tell by the smile on his face and the amount of dirt he brought home!! So glad to be able to share this wonderful camp with my children.
My 7 year old son attended Josh Powell camp for the second time this year. He came home raving about all the fun he had, friends he made and how he can’t wait to go back. His 4-year-old sister went to drop him off with me a couple of days, and she can’t wait to be able to go next year! I love that he had some old-school fun playing outdoors instead of staring at a device all week long! The counselors are amazing. I was very impressed overall, and we will absolutely be back.
Our family has been appreciating Josh Powell Summer Day Camp for many years. All of the children in our family have attended and the experience has been positive and memorable. We find ourselves recounting the memories each summer and especially prior to our last child attending camp this summer. His final qualifying year at JP was the best! Fun outdoor play that is supported by great counselors and a supportive environment. Thanks to the Josh Powell team that has carried on this classic outdoor camp offering to the kids of Atlanta!
This was the 3rd year my daughters attended Josh Powell - something they now look forward to every year. They leave home happy to start a day of swimming, archery, crafting, and canoeing, and come home always with a story to tell. Love how seamless and easy the staff makes the experience, and the option for them to ride the bus to/from camp makes it that much easier for us as parents. Plus riding the bus is fun in itself for them! Highly recommend.
This was our first time trying Josh Powell camp, and it did not disappoint! My kids loved it and are already asking to go back next summer! As parents, we loved how the kids got to spend a full week playing outdoors and trying out activities like archery and canoeing, plus having the independence to choose how to spend their free time. The owners are great, and the counselors all seemed to love working there. I don’t have any negatives :)
My youngest son and his best friend had an amazing week at Josh Powell. I loved hearing their stories everyday about new adventures from fort building and the pool. We have been going to Josh Powell since my oldest who is now 14 was a rising 1st grader and he is now headed to high school! One of our favorite places to be in the summer.
My son loves Josh Powell Summer Camp! This was his first year attending and has already asked to come back for breaks and next summer. He had a blast playing outside doing all kinds of fun activities and enjoying nature. Thanks to all the counselors, everyone was friendly and happy to be there! Cant wait to come back!
Such a great camp! This is our first year at Josh Powell camp and my two sons (5yrs old & 7 years old) want to go back for another week! They have the best time. They love the activities, outdoors, friends and counselors at JP. The communication with the office staff is very easy, the bus ride worked great. The parent day is a must go if you have the opportunity, my boys loved showing me their adventures! I highly recommend this camp. It’s give the children confidence in themselves and building lasting memories! Looking forward to next year!
My 8-year old daughter absolutely loves JPC, hands down her favorite camp every Summer. So much so, that she attend twice this year. She has made last memories that she will carry with her forever. The camp leaders are fantastic and incredibly intentional in investing and pouring into the kids. When I pull in that long drive way to drop her off I have such a peaceful and happy feeling. We all know how paramount that is as a parent.
We love Josh Powell! Its such a special place- like a mini-overnight camp but during the day and for young children. My son enjoys all of the fun activities, like canoeing, swimming, GaGa ball, etc, and he especially loves being able to choose an activity to do during free period. Its so convenient having a bus that will take the kiddos from the city to the camp. Cant wait for my daughter to join him next summer!
My 8 year old and 6 year old daughters had a blast at Josh Powell Camp! it was such an awesome experience for them especially for being outdoors after a cooped up 2020 summer! They absolutely loved canoeing, archery and playing Gaga ball! We are definitely planning to do it again next summer so we hope that Josh Powell camp expand it to accepting 3rd graders and maybe older!
My daughter loves Josh Powell Summer Camp! This is her first year attending and she loved it so much that we signed her up another two weeks after her first weekper her request. Definitely gives kids the opportunity to explore, learn new things, and meet new friends. We will be returning next summer.
This is the second year my son has gone to Josh Powell and in fact, he loved it so much he begged to go several times this year. This camp is wonderful and old school in the best sense of the word! No fancy gadgets or screens; just classic camp activities that keep the kids occupied and happy and using their imagination. Whether its time in the pool, arts and crafts, the beloved Ga-Ga Ball or the coveted Archery station, there is no shortage of fun activities for the kids. Additionally, the transportation makes this such a fantastic option for working parents. My son comes home every day tired, and dirty and FULL of smiles and isnt that what summer is all about??
Our son attended his first session of Josh Powell earlier in the summer and came back each and every day grinning ear to ear. He loved the activities, being outdoors and the ability to roam the woods with his friends new and old. He enjoyed himself so much we decided to enroll him for a second week this summer, even foregoing the camp he was scheduled for that week. He will definitely be back at Josh Powell Camp next summer!
Kids loved camp so much we had to sign up for another week! A true classic summer camp that has been an Atlanta area institution and giving “city” kids the best of the best since my husband attended (he remembers meeting _the_ Josh Powell— a very big man when you are six!) This is how kids ought to spend their summers. Heard they may be expanding through fifth grade; we would love to send our whole crew back.
We stumbled upon this camp by accident when our summer nanny decided to go back to school early. We are SO glad we did! They were so accommodating to work with and really helped us get out of a bind. My kids (ages 7 and 5) LOVED this camp from Day 1 and are already asking to go back next year! They got back each day eager to talk about their experiences, dirty as can be, and exhausted... what summer camp should be all about! The counselors we so good with them. Nothing but great things to say about this great place for kids. :)
Our daughter had an amazing first experience at Josh Powell. In fact, she loved it so much she begged us to sign her up for another week later in the summer (and we were lucky enough to secure a spot)! All of the activities and fun of overnight camp with the fun of a bus trip to/from camp. Such a special place.
The only bad part about Josh Powell Camp is that I wish I would have found it sooner!! My kiddos just made the age cut off to attend this summer and they LOVED it! I really hope there is an age extension as they keep asking to go back next summer! They came home everyday with huge smiles on their faces, laughing and telling stories of all the activities they got to participate in - their favorites were canoeing, archery, and Gaga ball. I would definitely send my kids back and can’t say enough good things about their experience.
We love Josh Powell Day Camp. Our kids woke up every morning excited to start the day, and they came home talking about all the great, new activities that they got to try. Riding the bus helped them gain independence, and its been a perfect way for them to build the confidence for overnight camp in the future. Thank you JP Camp for creating such a special time this summer for our kids!
My oldest son attended Josh Powell several years ago and loved it (both summer & winter sessions) so when my second oldest was old enough I signed him up. He had such a great time and said it was his favorite of all the camps he attended. They didn’t have the busses this summer but it was still worth it for him to have a wonderful outdoor camp experience (away from screens)!
Our 5-year-old had a great experience for his first week of Josh Powell Summer Camp. We chose to do the bus pick-up option at Kairos Church (Riverside-285), and loved this part of the experience: it was a chance for our son to be excited about growing in his independence, was a great chance to socialize with his camp buddy, and allowed for a little down time on the way home after a big day. Our son loved having choices about his activities at camp, loved being outside, building forts, swimming every day, getting into a canoe. We loved the active, outdoor play all day style. He came home tired and happy every day with no complaints (me: was there anything you didnt like about camp today? Son: Only the lunch you packed for me! That was the worst part.). Needless to say, it was great week for our camper. Thanks for the opportunity JP Camp!
My son looks forward to JP camp all year!!! I am overwhelmed by all of his adventures, stories, and activities throughout the day!!! This camp and staff are a well oiled machine! They are friendly, organized and ready to have fun each and everyday!! I am looking forward to my youngest being able to attend next year! Thank you for all that you do to ensure these kids safety while helping them to have good outdoor summer FUN!!!
Josh Powell summer camp is exactly what you think of when it comes to a summer camp environment! Canoes, archery, nature, and so much fun! The counselors are so friendly and my son has enjoyed his time there this summer! Summer camp is all about being outdoors and thats exactly what this camp is about!
Cannot recommend Josh Powell Camp enough! Every single day my son came home raving about how much fun he had, something new he learned or a new friend he made. The counselors knew him by name on the second day and we’re glad to see him! We’re already signed up for another week this summer and counting down the days.
My daughter (7) and son (5) attended two weeks of camp at Josh Powell this summer. Josh Powell Camp is essentially traditional sleep away camp with out the sleep away part! They loved canoeing, swimming, water slide, crafts and just getting to spend time outdoors. They came home each day exhausted and were excited to go back each morning. What else can you ask for in a summer camp!
This was, what I considered, an authentic camp experience for my 5 year old. He has had such an amazing time, he asked me to sign him up for an additional week.Camp has encouraged him to make new friends and try things that are outside his comfort zone. He has enjoyed every minute at Josh Powell!
My 5 year old granddaughter had the time of her life at Josh Powell. Each day we picked her up she couldn’t wait to tell us everything she did. The staff were all neatly dressed and couldn’t have been more friendly and kind. The activities were age appropriate and I especially liked the fact that the kids were given sufficient free time to choose what they wanted to do. There is no doubt whatsoever that we will send her again and again. What a wonderful experience for these young children. 5 stars is not enough!!
Josh Powell Summer Day Camp is wonderful! My son, age 6, loved every minute of it! From archery to canoeing to ga ga ball....he came home everyday excited to tell us what he had done that day at camp! We will definitely be back next summer...maybe even for multiple sessions!
Both of my sons have gone to Josh Powell Day Camp, and we are so sad to be aging out next year, as it is a beloved spot for good ole fashioned summer fun. Both boys come home each day - full of great memories, and a little dirty, indicating that they had a blast. The memories made will last a lifetime and we are so lucky to have found this special place. Thanks Josh Powell!
My two boys, ages 5 and 8, both loved their time at Josh Powell Camp. This was truly a traditional camp experience for them, with swimming, canoeing, and tons of outdoor fun. Everyday they came home filthy and exhausted, which was a good indicator that they had a blast. Will definitely be sending them back next summer.
Our 5-year-old twin boys LOVED Josh Powell! They have asked me daily when they can go back and I signed them up for a 2nd week toward the end of the summer. This traditional camp environment is fun for kids, encourages independence, and sends them home exhausted after a packed day! :)
This was my rising first graders fist summer camp experience and she loved it! Great counselors, fun activities, and lots of new friends. I loved sending her to a camp where she could spend full days enjoying activities that we cant enjoy as easily living in the city. Cant wait to send her back next year!
This is such a great camp! It’s my son’s second year going. After camp this year, he begged to go back every week. They do lots of fun activities that most of us in the city can’t do! The staff is great and were very accommodating with questions, etc during this Covid season. Usually, there’s a bus to take the Atlanta kids up, which is really nice. This year we carpooled with a neighbor which helped. Your children will love it!
My daughter has been to Josh Powell the last two summers, and it is consistently her favorite week of camp all summer. She loves the variety of activities, and I love that they encourage her to try new things. Last summer, she was convinced she couldnt canoe, but this summer, she came back from the second week claiming to be an expert! I feel like JP is a great introduction to overnight camp without the overnight. My daughter always makes new friends and has never complained about any girl drama with the kids at JP. Josh Powell is a great, nurturing, fun, back-to-nature environment, and we will definitely be back next summer for her (sniff) last summer!
My 5 year old son could not have enjoyed his time at camp more! He was a little nervous to go on the first day, but that all went away, and he had the time of his life. He most enjoyed paddling canoes, catching frogs, and playing Ga-ga ball. I love that he got to be a kid, and he had a ball doing it. After such a fun time, he will be a camper for life!
This was my sons second year attending the Josh Powell summer day camp. He looked forward to it all summer long, and it did not disappoint. As a parent, I love bringing my child to a camp that offers such a wide variety of outdoor activities. The camp does an excellent job of communicating with parents and providing a fun, safe environment for the kids.
My daughter attended Josh Powell Camp for the first time this past week, and she absolutely loved it! She bolted out of bed every morning, ready for another day of good old-fashioned outdoor fun! She particularly enjoyed canoeing, archery, and arts & crafts. She was smiling and sufficiently covered in dirt each afternoon when picking her up from the bus: two signs of a summer day well spent! She is already looking forward to going back next summer!
This was my 7yr old boy’s first experience at day camp and he absolutely LOVED IT!!! He went all by himself, not knowing anyone and after day 1, he couldn’t wait to go back.It was a wonderful experience and I love how it feels like the “old fashioned” camps I grew up going to. All about being a kid and enjoying the outdoors and friends. I also love that it’s just for first, second and third graders, which is such a fantastic age for day camp. We were so pleased with The Josh Powell Camp!!!
Josh Powell is the best camp! I was a camper for three years growing up and it was always my favorite part of the summer. This year my son was finally old enough to go and had the most amazing time as well! He cannot wait to go back next year! He particularly enjoyed the canoeing, archery and the freedom.
Josh Powell Camp was the perfect escape for my son during Covid. He loved getting to play outside all week with other kids. They provided a clean, safe environment for him to learn and explore. His favorite activities were canoeing, archery, and swimming. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Drop off and pick up were super efficient. He keeps asking when he can go back!
My son attended JP Camp for the first time this summer and loved every minute! The counselors and camp staff are truly there for the kids and he’s already begging me to go back next year. We also love the convenience of the bus pickup/drop off! Makes the journey easy for working parents and he loved riding the bus! Thanks for an awesome week!!
My son watched his two older siblings attend JP camp for several years and the time had finally come for his turn. This year like years past didn’t disappoint. The activities, organization, care of the counselors and experiences provided made for a week of outdoor fun! We can’t wait to sign up next year and we have one more waiting in the wings for his turn too!!!
After 3 years of watching my son get to attend it was finally my daughter’s turn. She was so excited! It lived up to her dreams after all these years. I’ve told so many people that Josh Powell Camp is exactly what every little boy thinks camp should be - fort building, archery, canoeing, the woods, dirt and (my son’s favorite) gaga ball. But apparently it what’s girls’ camp dreams are made of as well. It’s simple and perfect.
This was our first year at Josh Powell and our girls absolutely LOVED it. My only regret was not signing them up for more weeks. We will definitely do so next year. Would you ever considered overnights? Thank you again for having our girls and creating great memories!
My 7yr old daughter LOVED Josh Powell camp!! She was SO excited to go each morning, came home with a huge smile on her face and lots of stories of canoeing, archery, pool and arts/crafts. When we went to visit on the last day it was obvious the counselor’s loved their job and the kids. Every single kid was dirty (the sign of a great time!!), and incredibly happy to be there. Following along on the FB page, viewing pics every day was so nice. It’s a beautiful place to explore and each “group” has cute a cabin where they can change clothes and store their stuff! JP has thought of everything!
My daughter has attended JP for two years, both during the summer and during school breaks throughout the year. She LOVES the camp - there are a wide range of scheduled activities (but still flexible down time for them to hang out with friends), the counselors are all really outgoing and fun, and the pickup/dropoff at Sutton middle school has been so easy. Absolutely would recommend this camp!
Our son went twice this summer…loved it! After his first week, he was set on going back. Lots of great experiences and activities outdoors: canoeing, archery, swimming, fort building, arts/crafts, and a lot of other fun. Highly recommend and we’ll be signing him up next summer!
This is such a great camp, and is always my sons favorite camp each summer! Canoeing, swimming, archery, fort building, arts & crafts - just some of the awesome activities the kids get to participate in. He comes home tired and happy every day! And as a parent the communication from the camp is awesome! Detailed emails, daily photos posted to Facebook, etc. Couldnt ask for a better day camp!
My daughter has been begging me to go back for another week this summer, so I know she adores the camp. I would send her more than one week, if the camp lasted a little longer in the day. Three pm pickup is tough for working parents. Other than that, we love Josh Powell. Definitely will be going back next year, and letting little brother join!
This is the first time my 7 and 5 year olds attended Josh Powell, and they were not disappointed! There were excited to leave every day, and had so many stories to share about their favorite things in the afternoon. From archery to kayaking, crafts and fort building, there is something for everyone at this place. We will definitely be signing up again next summer! There were no buses this summer due to COVID-19, but the drive was worth it (especially if you can manage it with shared carpool duties).
This was our first JP experience and we were very pleased. I appreciated the real time text message update we got one day when the bus was running late (although we didnt get it another day when the same situation happened, however I was able to call and immediately get someone on the phone to tell me when to expect the bus arrival). I loved all the outdoor time but I falsely thought there would be NO screen time when my daughter told me there was some. My daughter also told me one of her camp counselors was out due to illness. I did think it was odd that in a COVID world now there was no communication about that from the camp coordinators. Regardless, we still really loved the camp and definitely would go back and invite more friends for the experience!
An excellent camp. These days children spend an excessive amount of time indoors. JPC is not only fully outdoors, but also offers captivating activities such as archery and canoeing. My 7 year old attended the camp twice this summer; she is very happy about the camp, without any reservations, and was looking forward to it every morning.
It is like a sleep away camp but without sleeping away! Such kind, welcoming staff and counselors. Extremely organized, even with careful restrictions during the pandemic. My son had the time of his life playing outdoors with friends in such a fun, creative environment. I wish we had found this camp sooner so he could go for many more years to come. A hidden gem and even without bus service this year it was well worth the 25 min drive from town.
My son absolutely loves this camp. He talks about it all year and can not wait to go back. He would go every week if we would let him! I love that the kids are out in the woods having so much fun doing real summer camp things like canoeing and archery. Our son comes home exhausted. Thanks Josh Powell for a great summer!
Hands down the best camp! It is truly what summer camp should be! The kids get to play outside and my sons favorite activities include fort building, archery and canoeing! You will not find a better day camp experience to keep your kids active while having the time of their lives!
My daughters are a second generation Josh Powell campers. My girls love the camp as much as daddy! The fact that this camp is a good old fashion camp is amazing and truly one of a kind. My nephew from NYC comes to Georgia in the summer just to attend Josh Powell Camp!!!
Josh Powell impressed us so much, by day two,, we booked two more weeks! My son, 8 yrs old, couldnt stop talking about building real forts, canoeing, and catching frogs! It was safe, staff was professional, and very engaging. We simply could not have been more pleased and know our son will have memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Josh Powell!
Sending our boys to Josh Powell Camp has been the best decision we’ve made for the summer of 2020. Our boys have attended 3 weeks in a row and they absolutely love it. The camp is well shaded so they never complain about it being too hot. The counselors are wonderful and the kids have had a blast getting to know them and spending time with them. They love all the activities offered. Honestly, JPC has been such a blessing in the middle of this pandemic. It has allowed our kids to feel normal again. It’s given us a nice break during the day to get caught up on different things, to work, and to have some down time while our kids are being kids. They have done a a wonderful job with all things covid-19. I have always heard wonderful things about it, i only wish we had tried it sooner so my older son could have had more years there.
My daughter’s favorite summer camp! This has been the third year my daughter has attended JPC. She looks forward to it every summer so we were so excited they opened camp this year. The kids stay busy outdoors with fort building (a fav!), archery, canoeing and swimming. This summer has been filled with the same fun activities and JPC did a wonderful job keeping safety measures in place and allowing kids to have a great time. It is so important for these kids to get a sense of normalcy, see familiar faces, have fun and just be kids. JPC safely offers that to our little ones!
We found out about Josh Powell from a friend, and my daughter loved it so much that she asked me to sign her up for the following week. We may even be back for a third week! She loves being with kids her age and all the activities available to them. Canoeing and the pool are her favorites!
I was giving my son a bottle in the car during morning bus pick up when my oldest daughter went to Josh Powell for the first time 5 years ago. 5years later, it was his turn to go for the first time. All three of my children have loved going for as many years as they could. Great experience for all of them! We’re excited to go again next year.
I dont know who was more excited about JPC this Summer, myself or my daughter. This was her 1st year and she was excited to experience soo many new things and make new friends. We had a goof with the scheduling, my fault, but the folks at JPC were beyond accommodating and helped us get scheduled for the week that worked for us. I was initially concerned about camp only lasting for 4-5 hours vs all day but that worry was quickly put to rest. My daughter slept for an hour ALL the way home, every single day! This girl quit napping at about 2 years old so this was ahhhhhmazing! We loved the friendliness of all of the staff and other campers and the variety of outdoor activities...she loves being outside and getting dirty! We cant wait to go back next year!
Josh Powell does it again. Third year in a row and my child absolutely loves this place. This is where kids are meant to be exploring the outdoors. And what six year old doesnt love to shoot an arrow. If you havent tried Josh Powell for summer camp I highly recommend it next year.
My daughter and son have both gone through this camp now and absolutely loved it! They loved all the activities that were offered. The bus service is efficient and reliable. The team is also very responsive to messages and feedback. I highly recommend this camp if youre looking for a summer day camp in the Atlanta area!
My son attended for the second time this year. He had a blast and begged me to sign him up for another week! I love that he got a break from technology and was able to have an authentic summer camp experience. Nothing much has changed since I was a camper there 30+ years ago.
My daughter absolutely adores this camp every summer, and this year was no exception thanks to the incredible staff and all their hard work to make camp as safe and still fun as possible during COVID. Its the perfect sleep away camp experience for kids who arent quite ready for that kind of thing.
The best outdoor day camp - perfect for this age! My husband went as a kid and now this is the second year for our kids. Very organized and bus is so helpful and makes it so easy! Love that parents get to come visit on Fridays to see and experience it with your camper.
This is regarding your request for feedback. My son took part in JPC week of June 22 and had a great time. My brother went in the 80s & 90s and so did all of our friends. Everyone we know in Atlanta, knows JPC! However I do have a few points of possible improvement after asking questions and getting feedback from my son - aged 9. (1) He did great activities but they were the same every day, in the same order. Why not switch it up a bit? There was a photo on your site of a nice climbing wall, but he never saw it. Hiking was, only like 100 meters my son reported disappointingly. (2) Kayaking was awesome, but there was no goal. They kids were just paddling around aimlessly without any particular task to follow, like, paddle to the X and back. I heard one councilor was fishing while his kids were kayaking...? (3) Some kids stepped on frogs. I guess every family has different views about this type of behavior, but we dont accept it. My son told the councilor on the boy that maimed / killed the frogs and the councilor answered that it was, The circle of life. But I dont agree that human interference in native species is part of that life cycle. How about teaching the kids that harm living things to respect nature? (4) My Dad asked him what he learned... which knots? Did you make a campfire? Learn to use a compass? He didnt learn any of that. Maybe it would be a good idea to add some education into the activities? **** All in all, he came home a happy boy, and after asking, he gave camp an 8+ (on a scale from 0 worst - 10 best), so thats a high score! Theres no need to fix anything that isnt broken, I mean we love JPC, but Im happy to share my feedback with you & appreciate you asking for it.
My 6 year old son attended a week session of this camp and it was absolutely amazing. He loved it and it was such a great experience for him. The staff was amazing and took such good care of him and all of the other kids. I highly recommend this camp to anyone. Thanks!
My grandson Miles was a 2nd generation JP kid when he went to Josh Posh camp (as he always calls it) for the first time this summer. His dad had attended when he was a young boy. Miles was happy as a lark from the first camp day. He LOVED and played GaGa Ball every chance he got to be in the ring. It didnt matter if his team mates (or opponents) were his age and size or older and bigger or even, if they were counselors. He was ready to take on the competition!! Beyond GaGa Ball, every day was an exciting challenge and joy. He talked about Josh Powell Camp, his new friends, his daily adventures and of course, GaGa Ball from the minute I met him at the afternoon bus till the time he boarded the morning bus for another day. On the way home from his last day, I interrupted his dissertation on the wonders of his week to ask one question...Do you want to go back next year? His response was clear and quick...Of course, Gramsy!...and then he continued to recount the wonders of the day and week. Thanks to Jason, Suzanne, Blake (who met him at the bus stop every day), the bus drivers, all the counselors, and all the kids who made Miles week at Josh Powell Camp so very special. Hell see you next year! Cyndy Stephens
Best thing we could have done for our son this summer. JPP made it so fun for them and provided the perfect amount of independence as he prepares to go off to kindergarten. We will be sending him back next year and I will tell everyone I know to do the same. We are very impressed and I just wanted to say thank you so much!
This place is the absolute best! The staff is so friendly, the owners are so helpful, and my son has come home every year asking if he can go for the rest of the summer. I can’t wait to send my other two boys there when they’re old enough! Couldn’t say anything better about this place.

2022-08-01This was my sons first summer attending Josh Powell and he LOVED it! I cannot say enough good things about this camp. He asked if he could go every week next year! The bus pickup/dropoff was timely and easy. The counselors seemed great and my son loved all of them. He raved about the swimming, canoeing, gaga ball and archery. Best camp for kids to have good old fashioned outdoor fun!

2022-07-18This was my sons first time at Josh Powell camp, and he absolutely LOVED it. He is an introverted kid and has a hard time with being away from home. This was also the first full day camp he had ever attended. The days were full of adventure, all of the camp counselors and helpers were warm and inviting to him. There seemed to be just enough challenge and support to give him a sense of success. He loved being outdoors all day, and getting to choose the activities he liked best!! I emailed one question and got immediate response back from the staff. I love the pictures that were sent at the end of camp too. We look forward to next summer and will also be sending our younger child!

2022-06-22What a great experience we had as first time JP Summer Day campers! My son, 9, loved it so much that he is still talking about it daily. My daughter, 7, who is easy to please, but doesnt necessarily love getting outdoorsy also loved the camp! My oldest is bummed that he couldnt go due to the others telling him how much fun they had. I would not hesitate for a minute to send my kids back again and again! Thanks JP Summer camp for being a highlight in their summer.

2022-06-22This was year two of my kids attending Josh Powell Camp, and once again they came home every day having had the best day! everyday :) The kids have a variety of activities that engage their varied interests, and the activities arent typical to most other day camps. There are some crafts and such, but also building structures, canoeing, etc.As a parent I appreciate the counselors for how fun they make camp, how kind they are, and how well they engage the kids. I also appreciate the bus pickup locations that save me from a drive I dont want to do!

2022-07-21My 8 year-old daughter absolutely loves JPC! This is our second summer attending, and it’s one of her favorites. The kids get a true outdoor ‘camp’ experience without the overnight stay. The bus pick up and drop off at Sutton Middle School is very convenient, and the counselors are nice and helpful. The kids get to feel a bit more grown up going off to camp for the day. Gaga Ball and swimming are two of the highly coveted activities!

The lead counselor Nicole was an absolute delight as were everyone else we encountered. We are so happy we sent them and look forward to next year’s camp!

2022-07-12Fabulous camp experience for little ones! This was my daughter’s first camp and she could not stop talking about everything she did each day. She was so proud to canoe by herself, to use a real bow and arrow and to swim in the deep end of the pool. I love that there’s a place where she can just be a kid and play outside all day in such a peaceful setting. Don’t miss out!
