Kindest Matters. Two words that perfectly describe the work performed, though can you call it work when you are doing what you love? When I first talked to Debbie, my wife and I knew nothing about why two of our ferrets were sick. Being they are around 6 years old, we thought it may be the end. But my wife called around and got in touch with Kindness Matters who told her what to do. I that night we went to the store to find the ingredients for the soup she suggested. I could not find a particular item so I called her and she told me, very matter-of-fact, that the ingredient was the least of my worries. I needed to get the soup ready. So I did. Those two ferrets made a remarkable comeback and are full of energy again. This past weekend, my wife, daughter, and I went down and adopted a ferret from Debbie! Arty is a cute ferret. I was impressed with the knowledge that Debbie had and even shared with us. Upon one look at him she knew that he had adrenal disease and even explained to us how she knew. I am thankful for her.Even though we are over 2 hours away, we are going to be bringing our other 5 ferrets to let Debbie help us.Thank you, Debbie! We appreciate you!
Debbie is the best! We adopted two ferrets in April of 2021 and she still checks on them. All her prices are reasonable, if not underpriced! She not only takes great care of the babies, but she truly loves each and every one of them! She always has her hands full but never lets it slow her down. I only know her through the rescue, but I follow her posts daily and she has become a true inspiration to me and my children.
The rescue ia great. Patience is a key. There is only one employee or possibly two on some days. The animals in their care are always priority #1. Be patient when calls arent immediately returned. How would you feel if they stopped and dropped everything to take your call or email or text, and a ferret dies because they did not finish what it needed to have done? This why people need to learn to be patient with getting back with you
I cannot recommend this rescue enough! I literally tell everyone about the wonderful work being done here! I happened to be telling someone about it in hixson one day and here they used to volunteer for her! Every interaction has been nothing less than wonderful! Debbie is one of the most knowledgeable and caring people you could ever wish to meet! My recommendations if your considering adopting, volunteering, or reaching out to Debbie for help is do your 5 minutes of research on her fb page. It wouldnt even take that long to see all of the love she puts into this work and these deserving babies!
Debbie has been so helpful all throughout my time having ferrets! She is incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to questions via email and Facebook. She cares for the ferrets above all else and does everything she can to equip you (whether youve adopted from her or from somewhere else) with the knowledge you need to be a great ferret parent. I wanted to adopt from her, however our timing didnt work out. Even though I rescued my ferrets from elsewhere she continues to be a great help and comfort to me knowing that shes always there for support. Her presence creates a sense of community here in Georgia that is much appreciated.
I can not praise this rescue enough for what they did for my Sage when I adopted her. I have a more detail review of the events on the facebook page but without this rescue Sage would have possibly died. Without her guidance I wouldnt have Sage getting along with my other ferrets and this family wouldnt be whole. Thank you so much Kindness Matters!
Debbie, the owner of the rescue, has such a genuine kind heart!!! Ive had the pleasure of adopting three ferrets from the rescue. The application to adopt may seem a bit much, however it is designed to be thorough and as educational as possible.. This keeps the ferrets best interest intact while making sure potential buyers are comfortable with the decision too! In addition, the rescue is well put together!! Normal pet stores dont show a fraction of the level of care that these ferrets receive.. Highly recommendβ€οΈ
My son, who was 16 worked with this rescue to adopt a ferret. They were very informative and professional. In addition to screening him, they also involved me and made sure that I understood the needs of a ferret and the responsibilities of owning one. They do a fantastic job of educating the public and truly loving and caring for the ferrets in their care. We spent quite a bit of time at the rescue the day we went to adopt. We talked and discussed more in depth our situation and were matched perfectly with a precious baby named Casper. He has been with us for about 6 months now and we couldnt be happier!
The dedication to ferrets by this rescue is OUTSTANDING. The proprietor is very knowledgeable about every facet of ferrets & their care. I support many different rescues in my region, but Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue is the ABSOLUTE BEST ... thank you so much for being an angel organization.
Kindness Matters rocks!! The ferrets are so well taken care of & loved, all potential adopters go through a very thorough adoption process, and customer service is great. The owner is full of knowledge and assists so many ferrets and humans alike!! If youβre looking to adopt a ferret look no further!
I met Debbie about 7 years ago when I found her rescue online & took a ferret I rescued to find a potential playmate. The setup she has in her home for the ferrets is excellent. It allows for free roam, which is wonderful. The area is very clean & well maintained, especially for as many ferrets as she has at any given time. During my first visit, she helped me to decide that my ferret preferred to live without a playmate. I wasnβt very knowledgeable with ferrets back then, and she gave me great advice, sold me some extra supplies at a great price and showed me how to trim my ferretβs nails at no cost. She also offers melatonin implants done at the rescue, which is so convenient and helpful. I live a few hours from the rescue, but Debbie has always been just a message away and very willing to offer advice or answer questions. Overall, Kindness Matters is a wonderful organization with an owner who is dedicated to these ferrets with her whole heart and devotes all her energy to doing whatβs best for each of them on a daily basis. Her adoption process is thorough and conducted with what is best for the ferrets as the #1 priority in every scenario. I donβt have experience with other ferret rescues, but I wouldnβt even consider going elsewhere. Adopt, donβt shop!
LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! They help improve and save lives! They care for and love ferrets until they are able to find them the properly equipped new forever home! Their business (ferrets) rooms are CLEAN and have so much to keep each baby happy and busy! This Rescue CARES And makes a positive difference!!
Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue - Its an amazing rescue, that serves the southeast region. Its run by volunteers, under a wonderful woman. Debbie truly has the heart of a rescuer. She not only cares for each ferret as expected, she goes above and beyond that level of care, providing those with special needs exactly what they need until their perfect forever home is found. She is always available to help ferret owners with advice or direction in care for their ferrets. Not only does she take care of so many furbabies, but educates the public as well. π Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue.
Debbie runs a fantastic rescue. We have gotten all of our ferrets from her. She is super knowledgeable and has helped us through several hard times with our ferrets and provided much needed advice! She was on the phone with us when our last ferret Doodle passed away in my hands and was crying with us. She takes such good care of the ferrets and takes in so many in need. She is very thorough about making sure the ferrets get into good homes by doing home inspections, etc. This is the only ferret rescue will will go to! π
I drove 3.5 hours to this rescue to adopt my first ferret a friend. After doing rescue work for years I can honestly say this place raises the bar on my animal adoption standards. All the necessary information on the ferrets I adopted was provided and the rescue followed up to make sure the transition was going smoothly. The education I received was priceless and is not something that can be found from a simple pet store employee. It is incredibly clean and the owner is extremely passionate about what she does. She truly loves every ferret that comes to the rescue and works tirelessly to provide the best life possible while in her care. Since then I was inspired by the rescues standards and have fostered several ferrets through them.
I had the pleasure of meeting Debbie and getting my first ferret from her around two years ago. The first time I met her I was blown away by her dedication to the animals. She helped me with my entire setup and sent me email after email of all the information I needed to keep my baby happy. She keeps detailed logs of everything for each ferret even when there are over 40+, including what foods they like, treats, toys, medicines, and any special care. The place was extremely clean and youβd never guess there are over 40 ferrets. You canβt even smell one. I appreciate this rescue more than anything and Iβd encourage anyone interested in ferrets to visit here. She even has a store with everything you could need.
We had to surrender our 2 beautiful ferrets and were so fortunate to find Debbie and Kindness Matters. From my first interaction she was always very helpful, professional and passionate about ferrets. We were very impressed with her home and the cleanliness. There was no odor at all. There are tons of things for them to play with. It was a hard decision to surrender, but felt they were in a wonderful place. One has already been adopted.
Knowledgeable about the care of ferrets and actively working to save each one . Debbie at the rescue was flexible when we came early to an appointment. Was able to purchase some needed items for our ferret and found a beautiful little girl to foster until we are sure that she is a good fit for our home. Highly recommend !
I have visited and volunteered at Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue and what Debbie does for those little guys is amazing. The ferrets have more than enough room and they all seem content. I joked that my ferrets would love to vacation there (they seriously would)! The world is a much better place because of this rescue and the love the owner shows to each individual ferret. Thank you so much for all you do!
I am a veterinary technician and I have adopted two ferrets here, and let me tell you that this rescue is top notch. All of the animals are incredibly well cared for, and Debbie is an absolute saint. She is a wealth of information and knowledge on ferrets, the level of which can only be achieved from living and working with them for years and years. She goes above and beyond to take care of both ferret and people. Debbie and her rescue are truly amazing!
What a wonderful experience. My daughter and I went and visited/volunteered a few months ago. We personally have 2 ferrets and love them like family members. I do not know how this rescue does such a wonderful job. Upon entering it didnβt even smell like one ferret, much less 30. It was super clean and organized and the level of care is beyond amazing. Recommend anyone to adopt from this amazing facility.
Ive adopted almost all my ferrets thru KMFR and they go above and beyond. They made sure to educate me on everything I could ever think on and matched me with a perfect furbaby every time. The rescue is always kept clean (which is so impressive because I only have a fraction of the ferrets they have and omg they poop everywhere) and they are always available to help.
Debbie is amazing! She answered every question I had about adopting and introducing the new ferret to my other two. She is more knowledgeable about ferrets than any vet I have ever been to. The rescue itself is immaculate and all the ferrets are extremely well taken take of.
This place and this person are truly amazing. Debbie has been such a blessing to us helping with our ferret and again with the adoption of another one from her rescue. The place is clean and I donβt even know how she manages to keep it from being smelly, but she does. I swear my two are smellier than her whole place, and I am clean! She truly cares with her whole heart and Iβm so very thankful to her for all that she does for all the little sweet ferrets. She seems like a serious sort of person until you get to know her, but itβs just her seriousness about making sure the ferrets are getting the absolute best care possible. She has a heart of gold. I would recommend this place and her expert advice to anyone serious about getting a ferret.
Visiting this rescue is always an educational and enjoyable experience. Debbie is 100% dedicated to the well being of ferrets. She manages to keep over 30 free roaming ferrets happy and healthy while maintaining a house that has NO ferret smell. As a ferret owner, I know she has to be working around the clock to be doing such a great job.
I have been to this rescue numerous times over the past 4 years. We have 2 ferrets and are ALWAYS beyond impressed with how clean Debbieβs house is with 30+ ferrets. She is amazing! Always answering every question we have and more than willing to give advice and educate people about ferrets.
Although I have never adopted from here, I love the vast wealth of knowledge she provides for everyone, the absolute passion and love you can see for the babies in her care, and her deep commitment in making sure ALL ferrets have a voice and are heard and cared for. Love, love, love this rescue.
This shelter is clean and well organized and the shelter mom goes above and beyond - not only for the rescues at her shelter, but also for anyone she sees who needs help saving a ferret! Ive seen her spend many hours putting together volunteer transports and other emergency efforts to save ferrets. Shes wonderful!
Very knowledgeable and really does care about making sure these animals go to good homes! Im happy that I found Debbie to help me find a good match in a ferret for a ferret I already have. She took the time to make sure that my baby was going to get along with whoever I decided to adopt. Gave my ferret a once over and gave me some advice on so many things! Would recommend 100x over if I could.
Super wonderful. The owner has given me so much advice and has never asked for a penny. Her knowledge is top notch and she cares so much and gives these ferrets the best care. I dont know how she does it. Rescues are such a blessing, and you can tell the owner puts her heart into it. Please consider adopting, volunteering, or donating.
This is a very well run, clean and safe environment for all of the ferrets being housed here. The ferrets are cage-free and closely monitored for behavior and physical issues. All of the ferrets appear healthy and happy and the owner is exceptionally knowledgeable and caring. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to adopt a ferret to contact this rescue before looking anywhere else!
Debbie is extremely knowledgeable about ferrets and is always willing to teach and help. She was very kind to me when she dropped by my apartment to give my four ferrets microchips. The price was reasonable, but more importantly she did this during her time of grieving after a funeral. She definitely didnt need to do that then, but it means the world to me that she did. The name of the rescue is really what Debbie embodies.
We found the rescue after we had tried looking at pet stores and such, and Im so glad we decided to adopt through the rescue instead. It was extremely informative, and it enabled us to give the best and utmost care for our ferret. Its evident that they truly care about the well-being of all ferrets that come through the rescue. They are also very flexible with prices; they just want to ensure the ferrets care.
I absolutely love KMFR (Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue) I got my ferret from their and I would recommend KMFR to any person that is interested in getting a ferret. Not only ferrets but anything you would possibly need to take care of your ferrets at a very good reasonable price, it does take a lot to take care of ferrets but if you are truly committed that is all that matters. It is amazing what this rescue has done for all these beautiful amazing ferrets I am truly amazed!!
An excellent rescue and resource for ferrets! The ferrets are well cared for and adoptions are set up so that the ferrets are well matched to their forever homes. Please dont shop for ferrets and, if you are nearby, consider this rescue for your next (or first) ferret! As an adopter, Debbie will give you tons of resources about ferret health and will answer your questions after adoption to make sure your new baby has good care and is happy and healthy.
I happened upon their Facebook page shortly after I was given a ferret by a customer at my store, and knew immediately that I wanted to get another ferret for my new baby. We absolutely loved our visit, and do really help pick the right ferret for your current one.Rhe visit was also very informative, and welcoming. Theyre a huge inspiration and cant wait to be able to go back to adopt another baby.
This is an amazing rescue ran by a wonderful person. She truly dedicates her life to the rescue, and makes sure the ferrets end up in wonderful homes. The ferrets are well cared for, and when you adopt you know that she has made sure the ferret is the right fit for your family!
This rescue is my favorite. Extremely educational and knowledgeable. Anyone looking into owning a ferret or needs a refresher on ferret care, supplies etc., needs to reach out to this rescue. Adopt, adopt, Adopt. Do not go to a pet store. Go here. This rescue is solely on ferrets. So many great things to describe there sadly is not enough room on this review to write it all out. There also needs to be more than 5 stars for how excellent it is. I will say I have adopted several ferrets and fostered from here. Excellence at its best.
Fantastic rescue! The place is sooooo clean and fresh smelling. I have no idea how she does it with so many ferrets. I know how hard it is to keep up with my few pets! Iβve also bought pet supplies and a cage here for super reasonable prices. Great place to visit and volunteer at or buy supplies at!
Debbie is very knowledgeable and works so hard to take care of these beautiful creatures. So little is known about ferrets and they have so much popularity...it seems there are 2-3 needing to be rescued every day. Its so depressing. Debbies always looking for a way to work with you and give you valuable information to ensure the health and happiness of your ferret(s). Humans are cool, but the priority is the ferret because they deserve better than theyve been handed & cant attain thatbon their own. If you need help taking care of or adotpting or rehoming, Kindness Matters Ferret Rescue is a great resource!
While I have not personally been to the Rescue, I have always been very pleased with the positive responses to anyone on Facebook. If I am ever in Georgia, I do plan on visiting and giving a hug for the great work done for ferrets. Ferrets are a challenge. I do believe this rescue does everything possible for a successful outcome with each one.
Ms Debbie is very knowledgeable about the ferret, extremely helpful with understanding more about them as well.. It was a pleasure to be able to see so many ferrets together and watch them play with each other.. My children enjoyed it so much.. Thank you Debbie for allowing us to visit!!! The kids also thank you for the shirts
Hard working, truly passionate about rescuing and caring for ferrets others dont have the heart or committment to do on a daily basis. Its a massive amount of work and expense so their dedication is second to none. If youre looking for a reputable ferret rescue organization you can trust then Kindness Matters is that place.
The woman who runs this place (Debbie) is a saint - she cares about all animals, not just ferrets!!! She understands that people have multiple aspects to their lives and she is very supportive of people adopting and fostering but understands when things happen. She supports the animal community in any way she can. SUPPORT THIS PLACE!!!
Ive adopted 7 ferrets, perma-fostered 1, and fostered several others from KMFR. Debbie is extremely knowledgable, offers services like melatonin implants at reasonable prices, and has a store where she sells food and gently used materials like bedding, bowls, toys, etc. Despite the crazy amount of ferrets at her house, it never smells, and is very clean. I also canβt tell you how many times Ive e-mailed or called with concerns or questions about my fuzzies, and always gotten a prompt response.
Miss Debbie is awesome . A true heart for ferrets and the hoomans they own . She can answer question you can have about your own ferret as well as many ferrets there are available for fostering and permanent loving qhomes. The only rescue in Georgia that I stand behind .. shes very dependable and honest about wbats needed for her babies
So starting out I was inexperienced with ferrets but always wanted one. My other half on the other hand has had one previously and thought we would take the initiative to pick one out of our own. Now if u have no ferrets let me remind u what u are getting urself into. They are ALOT of upkeep and hard work. They have a natural scent that gives them the nickname stinky slinkies for a reason LOL but after u get informative advice from Deb and follow through good diet it can be balanced. We started off with 2 from her and fell in love to the point we went back and got 1 more. Even got so lucky to get a ferret nation cage for 135$. To most it sounds like alot but that folks is a steal and of course like anyone u just want the best for ur little guys. Now when u walk in there will be ferrets everywhere. They do free roam so u can see each personality of theres. These are not caged ferrets, they are not breeding ferrets, they are up for adoption to a good home and they are healthy. At times u may not always be able to have a full conversation with Deb because her hands are full and Im sure her job is more than rewarding. But what better way to get all ur answers than to set up an appointment and see everything for urself and what ur getting into. Its not gonna be easy at first but once u got a set up and routine for u, it gets easier. There will be occasional mishaps of missing socks and such Haha but promise u will love on ur fur babies anyways after. So overall outcome of my experience from before to after the boys have settled in I give the rescue 5 stars hands down. Yes u can start by reading negative comments or even positive ones before going..... or u can go see for urself and meet the new member to ur family. What do u have to lose?
This is a privately owned and opperated non-profit organization that runs on donations only. it cost $90/quarterly to keep ferrets in good health and this woman deserves any help she can get. She is Amazing! Kindness really DOES matter and this woman demonstrates nothing but that in opening her home anf life to helping these defensless little loves who were left stranded in a world they dont know how to survive in alone. Please visit their facebook page and make a small donation for christmas. this woman is an angel of animals and saves lives on her own dime with a huge heart.
This rescue is all about the Fuzzies. They care a great bit for all ferrets. It donβt matter if they young, old, in good health, Iβm poor health or in bad health they care for them all. They treat all the animals with compassion and care the way everyone should.
These are Fantastic people that do a whole lot for ferrets. So thankful for people like them going out of their way to make a difference in these poor neglected innocent lives. I cant thank you enough for all you have done are doing and will continue to do. God blessπ
While I have never attended this facility personally, I have reached out for information several times. I live in Vermont and find this facitlity to be patient, kind, knowledgeable, and more than willing to help teach anyine willing to listen. Shes amazing and the work she does is an inspiration to myself and my 12 year old who one day hope to start her own rescue.
Whoever answered the phone was quite rude. Seemed like she couldnt be bothered. And the when I said okay thank you...she hung up. And yet kindness matters....sure ok.She was however very kind enough to talk through the issue with me. Understanding the circumstances now, I do apologize. Thank you for being so nice.

2022-03-12I am a volunteer and frequent supply buyer from Ms. Debbie. She is so helpful, compassionate, sweet, understanding, and patient with both me and anyone who comes to her for help and to animals in general. I highly recommend adopting your ferret from here as theyβre very well taken care of, loved for, and appreciated and if you have any questions donβt hesitate to email Ms. Debbie.

2022-01-30Ive been keeping & rescuing ferrets for 3 years now. Its my first time caring for now, elderly ferrets. I have added to our pack in years passed, and it was seamless. However, this time, I thought my senior citizen ferrets were dying or incredibly ill. I called emergency pet vets, vet offices all over the state of South Carolina. Out of complete desperation, and exhaustion I called ferret rescues. The ONLY rescue to return my call was Debbie from Kindness Matters. This rescue absolutely holds TRUE to its name! She reassured me of my situation, and how to remedy my babies at home. Without her kindness, patience and prompt follow up...we absolutely would have lost them! Were still feeding them her recipe of the Ferret soup and they are eating it, and getting stronger! Will be sending a donation for her willingness to help me from another state away! Who knows, we would maybe one day adopt from her down the road. I highly recommend this rescue! Her FB page and website is so jam packed full of information and education about ferrets. Cant say enough about her, and our desperate experience! Kindness Matters! It has truly touched my heart! Thank you Debbie! π UPDATE: we finally came down from SC and adopted Artie. The rescue is well thought out. I learned so much about ferrets just by spending an hour there. She is very educated and well trained on adrenal disease and can spot its first signs from across the room! We gave our male a treatment. And we went to the ferret store and bought premium cat foods, ferret blankets, toys, and anything you could want or need! We will be bringing the rest of our babies down for treatments in the near future. Debbie and her staff are amazing and very kind.

2022-03-11Debbie is a wonderful person. She has helped me with my ferrets both physically and through giving me knowledge. Her place is awesome to visit with ferrets running and playing everywhere. You can get lots of love through the ferrets and also through Debbie. You leave there feeling good about all she does and with a big smile on your face. She works hard for all these babies and it shows in a big way. Thank you Debbie for all you do.

2022-03-20This rescue is wonderful. Debbies process is to be admired and commended. She took the time to introduce ferrets that might fit our group till we found the one. Letting the ferrets pick the ferret is such a great idea! Definitely takes the stress out of transitioning and hoping theyd get along. Her helpers were absolutely wonderful and you could definitely see the care they have for these precious animals. It was a wonderful experience and her shop had everything you could need. If ever we are to adopt again I would not hesitate to return here.

2022-08-13Last year we had an emergency with our elderly ferret sugar and the lady that runs this rescue was the only person we could find to help us even though we are several hours away. She called us immediately gave us compassionate and very informative information. She is a God send to these wonderful animals and definitely knows her stuff. If youre considering a ferret as a pet theres no place better to adopt and get valuable information on these amazing animals and how to properly care for them than kindness matters β€οΈ

2022-05-28Debbie is an awesome and very knowledgeable ferret guru. You can tell she cares about the ferrets she cares for and spreading the knowledge to others upon your first time meeting her. Truly a pleasant first interaction, and I left with far more knowledge about my fur baby than I walked in with.

2022-03-11I havent adopted through Kindness Matters, but I follow the rescue on Facebook where Debbie provides great information on caring for ferrets. She helps with day to day care, emergency issues and long term concerns to watch out for. She gives guidance on products, cage setup, etc.. Her help is well worth a donation to the rescue now and then.

2022-03-10Debbie is so knowledgeable about these fur babies. She is committed to educating people about their ferrets and if ferrets are a right fit for you. So many people will get a ferret without understanding the commitment they take. Then these ferrets end up unwanted and in a rescue. She will take the time necessary to interview and spend uninterrupted time with the perspective new adoptive family to help the right ferret to pick its new forever family. This is only one person working with a very limited out of help. Be patient, listen, and learn.
